You Can Still Call Me Gambini...
My Cousin Vinny is one of the funniest flicks ever. Take Joe Pesci, the hilarious little Italian fella and put him with the beautiful Marisa Tomei, and you got a great combo and a laugh-riot movie. Pesci, is Vinny, Brooklyn-born lawyer, who ain't the perfect lawyer--but has a lot of heart. His wife-to-be, Mona Lisa Vito, helps out Vin when he's down... and they are both down--wayyyy down south in Alabama, defending his wrongfully accused murder suspect cousin (played by Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio in a great role), and his buddy. Italians and non-Italians will love this Pesci flick--it ranks right up there with GoodFellas & Casino anyday. Tomei won an Oscar, and why not, she's dead-on balls accurate as a New Yawker--and damn cute too! Great video. Buy it today, I guarentee you a thousand laughs.

South Brooklyn meets The South
Subtly employing the city mouse/country mouse theme, MY COUSIN VINNY is a light-hearted courtroom comedy. While it occasionally stoops to some stereotyping, the movie doesn't do so mean-spiritedly. In any event, both sides get equal skewering.

Vinny Gambini, brilliantly portrayed by Joe Pesci, is a Brooklyn boy who has finally passed the Bar (after repeated failures) and now finds himself defending his nephew and his nephew's friend against murder charges in the Bible Belt. Along with his too beautiful fiancee, played by Academy Award Winner Marissa Tomei, Pesci investigates the southern style of life, as he fathoms southern courtroom procedures and tries to get some sleep. The resulting clash of cultures is sometimes predictable, but honestly, is very inventive for the most part.

The comedy of the court room scenes is heightened by the late Fred Gwynne who plays the presiding judge. His by-the-book habits and short-fused temper are a perfect foil to Vinny's laconic style. It is their interaction that feeds most of the cultural clashing. But there is also a clash of the sexes that underlies the film, as Vinny stubbornly refuses the help of his fiancee. This confrontation is also highlighted in the courtroom when the DA refuses to believe that she could possibly be considered an expert in automechanics, even though her brothers, her father, her uncles, and just about everyone else in her family are expert mechanics. (The DA becomes convinced in a wonderful cross-interview scene.)

MY COUSIN VINNY was both critically well-received and a huge box-office success. There's a reason for that: it is a well-written, well-directed and perfectly acted comedy that stands up well even after repeated viewings. See it for yourself and you'll understand why, too.

In 1992, My Cousin Vinny was the one movie that made everybody laugh until their sides split. I've been watching the film ever since it was released and all I did was laugh my rear-end off. Twelve years have gone by since the film was released and I'm still laughing today. Any actor or actress can get a rise out of you if they knew the right way to do it, but nobody can get a rise of you the way Joe Pesci does in this film; nobody can do it they way Marisa Tomei does in this film.

When two college buddies by the names of Bill (played by Ralph Macchio) and Stan (Mitchell Whitford) are driving down the roads of Beecham County, Alabama, they are suddenly arrested for the murder of a grocery store clerk, but what the police of Alabama don't know is that Bill and Stan are completely innocent. Unable to afford a public attorney, Bill turns to his cousin, Vincent Gambini (played by Joe Pesci), an ex-auto-mechanic turned lawyer from Brooklyn, New York, who just past his bar exam after failing it the first five times and knows absolutely nothing about law. By his side is his beautiful fiancee, Lisa Vito (played by Marisa Tomei, in her Oscar-winning role), who is an out-of-work hairdresser that knows every damn thing there is to know about cars. The court is led by Judge Chamberlain Haller (played by the late Fred Gwyne), who has absolutely no patience for any kind of misbehavior in his courtroom. Seems as though Vinny has now finally realized his no longer in New York and is now in a state where no one gets away with any kind of behavior or crime and has finally met his match. Can Vinny pull his cousin out of this mess without screwing up the case? Watch My Cousin Vinny as he desperately tries to save his little cousin while he gives you non-stop laughter along the way.

Northern Lawyer meets Southern Justice - unexpected results!
Joe Pesci and Marisa Tormei are both an absolute scream in this movie. The sparks fly between Pesci and girlfriend Tormei, as well as between Pesci and Fred Gwynne's Chamberlain Holler, an Alabama Judge. I had dreaded seeing it - the television ads almost made me cringe as I anticipated a film which would bash southern rednecks. What I had NOT anticipated was that a story could be told about a couple of New Yorkers falsely charged and locked up in an Alabama jail that could be resolved in a way that justice could be served and the southerners would be portrayed in a way that was not at all stereotypical. I can think of no other plot that has as one of its essential elements a comparison of the amount of time required to properly cook grits. "No self-respecting southerner would make instant grits" a character proclaims from the witness stand during the trial that is the centerpiece of this witty screenplay, and the other southerners in the film's jury nod their heads in understanding. Fred Gwynne is light-years away from Herman Munster as the wise southern judge who is out for justice, but not to be trifled with. Ralph Macchio and Mitchell Whitfield have little to do other than look worried that Ralph's Cousin Vinny isn't going to come through and save the day. At less than 10 bucks, I'd buy this DVD if only to watch Tormei's hilarious response when Pesci tells her that he has been invited to go deer hunting with the Lane Smith's District Attorney.

Otto Preminger expanded his vision in the 1960s with a whole series of ambitious, expansive dramas with huge casts and big themes. Advise and Consent, an examination of deal making, party politics, and congressional diplomacy in Washington's legislative halls (based on the novel by Allen Drury), is one of his best. Preminger broke the blacklist with his previous film, Exodus, and it rings through in this drama about a controversial nominee for secretary of state (a confident, stately Henry Fonda) accused of being a Communist. The nomination process becomes the center ring of the political circus, with fidgety accuser Burgess Meredith in the spotlight; devious, silver-tongued Charles Laughton cracking the whip as a southern senator with a grudge against Fonda; and party whip Walter Pidgeon lining up votes behind the scenes. Arm twisting and diplomatic hardball turns to perjury and blackmail, and a melodramatic twist gives this lesson in party politics a salacious soap opera dimension. Preminger's style has been hailed as "objective," but it's really a matter of attentiveness: he gives all the character their due and their say, eschewing heroes and villains for an exploration of people clashing over opposing goals. In fact, the weakest elements of the film are the unscrupulous populist senator played by George Grizzard and the badly dated caricatures that populate a notorious underground club. Mildly Interesting Political Drama
Anybody who has seen C-Span can verify the authenticity of the Senate debates portrayed in the film.All the rhetoric and long-winded posturing on display here feels real.The film is long and at times it borders on the tedious, but so is alot of Senate debate.The film is almost torpedoed by a subplot involving the skeletons in one senator's closet.The film recovers at the end for a thrilling floor vote of a controversial Secretary-of-State nominee(Henry Fonda).Probably the film's best performances come from the older cast members, Walter Pidgeon, Lew Ayres, and Paul Ford.Fonda, the film's ostensible star, basically appears in a glorified cameo and seems to be phoning it in.

Not as goodas"The Manchurian Canidate", from the same
year, (1962).But it is still a very good political mellow drama.The excellent cast presents a primer on how congress works, the presidency, succession & party politics. An almost comatose Henry Fonda plays the Secretary of State nominee, Robert Leffington & suspected Communist. Walter Pidgeon does a fine job as the Majority Leader sheparding the nomination through the Senate. The real scene stealer is Charles Laughton in maybe his best role as Senator Seab Cooley, a red-baiting, red-neck determined to destroy Leffington at all costs.
A fine well know cast included, Lew Ayres, Peter Lawford, Gene Tierney & Burgess Meridith. Charles Laughton however, saved his best performance for last.

A classic for all times
This book is a classic.The acotrs are marvelous.Orrin Knox could have been more involved in the movie like he was in the book.I really didn't like the actor who protrayed Orrin Knox.The ending of the movie was brilliant.Seab Cooley and the vice president have always been two of my favorite characters.The movie is just as good as book (which I have read numerous times) and this is unusal.Both the book and the movied should be required in both high schools and colleges.

"C'mon in! Don't just stand there!"
Talk about an all-star cast: when Otto Preminger brought Allan Drury's epic study of a Senate confirmation of a morally ambiguous nominee for Secretary of State, he got just about everyone in Hollywood to participate. Though the best roles go to Charles Laughton as a manipulative (but intensely likeable) South Carolina senator and Franchot Tone as the tortured President, not everyone got so lucky; the novel had so many characters that some big actors (like Gene Tierney, wasted as a Washington hostess) are pretty much trapped in throwaway roles.

Preminger was pretty progressive by Hollywood standards, and so the Senate he depicts is remarkably diverse, with senators of many ethnic backgrounds. There's a great cameo (the film's standout moment) from Betty White, who, as a shrewd Kansas senator, trounces George Grizzard, the despicable Senator Van Ackerman (from Wyoming, of course, so as to offend the least number of audience members possible) in open debate on the Senate floor. Preminger was really daring (for the time) in his willingness to tackle the subject of the blackmail of homosexuals in the film. It should be said, however, that the film's notorious depiction of a gay bar (the first Hollywood film to do so openly since the institution of the Hays code) as a nightmarish cesspool of vice, where the fat effeminate bartender hysterically beckons in the horrified Don Murray (see my title), probably did more to keep gay men in the closet in the Sixties than anything Hollywood ever did.

The Granddaddy Of Political Movies!
This ultra-realistic 1962 drama of the goings-on in Washington, D.C. must rank as one of the best films of its type ever made. It's a lengthy one (2 hrs., 19 min.), but it never gets dry.The many veteran actors assembled to comprise this cast see to that.The roster includes Henry Fonda, Franchot Tone, Charles Laughton, Lew Ayres, Walter Pidgeon, and Burgess Meredith!There's also Don Murray, who probably gets more screen time here than anyone else. And I think Murray shines bright in his role as the senator with a deep, dark secret!Pidgeon is also particularly convincing in this film.This was Mr. Laughton's final motion picture.

It had to happen: A national tour of redneck comedians culminating in this frequently funny concert film, shot in Phoenix. Ron White's scotch-and-tobacco-fueled, fatalistic world view gets things off to a good start. ("That last engine had just enough power to get us to our crash site.") Larry the Cable Guy's creepy-silly persona helps deliver a set long on gross-out humor. ("I've been seein' a good-lookin' girl. But now I lost my binoculars.") A MUST-HAVE!!!
GET THIS MOVIE! This is the funniest movie you'll ever see! It tops even "Rat Race!" Jeff, Bill, Ron and Larry are hilarious even when they're not on stage! "He just made enough money to buy anything he wants in the store, and he gets the remote-controlled fart machine." LOL!!! Even if you're not a Jeff Foxworthy or Bill Engvall fan, you will absolutely LOVE this movie!! And Ron and Larry are HYSTERICAL!!! Ron's "Yesterday I was sitting in a beanbag chair naked eating cheetos" is an AWESOME opener and Larry's line, "I was seeing this girl for six weeks, then somebody took my binoculars out of my truck" is classic! Bill's cool when he talks about his family. "I was helping my wife fold clothes, I pick up this pair of skimpy underwear and I go, 'Hey, Hey! When are you going to wear these for me?' 'I can't, they're your daughter's.' I'm like, 'OOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!' No No No!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! And Jeff's redneck words are very, very funny, too! "'Wijadija.' Everyone can find this filled with laughs
The Blue Collar Comedy Tour isn't just for rednecks or blue collar workers- this is fun and laughter for everyone. There are no cusswords or adult content to cut out so even teenagers can watch this. Funny comedian Ron White is like a 21st century country-style Dean Martin. The other 3 comedians ( Ron White included ) along with Jeff Foxworthy also serve up their fair share of comic lines and laughs. Most people have only heard of Jeff Foxworthy due to his name & longetivity( including me until this ) but once you've seen & heard this you will want to enjoy it over & over.Great that these four comedians decided to tour together,film it & release it on video & dvd for us to enjoy.
Even you are alone you may be laughing out loud.The Blue Collar Comedy Tour was recommended to me by an African-American so it wasn't offensive to him either as he thought it funny-This is definitely not just for rednecks but for everyone.This is not just southern humor-the comedy is universally appealing. White Trash Humor
If you like redneck, working-man humor, you'll get a kick out of this. Personally, my favorite performer is Ron White, and I thought Larry the Cable Guy's solo performance was irritating. Between the different performances, they have clips from a visit they did to a shopping mall, which are okay.

Not THAT good, but...
Call me a tough critic, but I can't bring myself to rave about this film in the way everyone else has.

My friends (who have no taste in comedy what-so-ever) love this film, so they watch all the time around me. I did find it to be funny and I found myself laughing at most of the "You might be a redneck if..." jokes, though I thought Larry the Cable Guy's nonsensical ramblings interspersed with shoutings of the expression "Git-R-Done" were terrifically unfunny.

If you're looking for a good time with friends and making you laugh is not a difficult task, this film is for you and you should order your copy immediately. This film is also perfect for anyone with a hickish background or roots in a redneck-dominated area.

If you appreciate more insightfulhumor and making you laugh is quite a challenge, I suggest you check out the brilliance of Ellen DeGeneres in 'Here and Now', her hilarious HBO special.

Other than that, this film was not so bad. It's definately worth at least one viewing, but you may want to get it at Blockbuster before you buy your copy here. ... Read more

Unlike the original Saturday Night Live cast, the In Living Color ensemble was definitely ready for prime time. But, was prime time ready for In Living Color? This subversively funny 1990 sketch-comedy series boldly went where SNL feared to tread, particularly in matters of race relations and cultural stereotypes. Series creator Keenen Ivory Wayans was hot after his hilarious blaxploitation spoof, I'm Gonna Git Ya Sucka. But In Living Color was hotter. According to a "Looking Back" segment included in this three-disc set, it took him a year to sell the pilot. He fronted a young, gifted, and mostly black cast, including David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson, Damon Wayans, Kim Wayans, and T'Keyah "Crystal" Keyman. "James" Carrey and Kelly Coffield were the white Garret Morrises.

Like the first season of SNL, In Living Color played provocateur, with such politically incorrect sketches as "Homeboy Shopping Network," "This Old Box," and "Ted Turner's Very Colorized Classics." Other sketches, such as "Riding Miss Daisy," have a stick-it-to-the-man brazenness. Don King, Mike Tyson, Milli Vanilli, and Arsenio Hall are easy targets, but In Living Color did not spare such icons as Richard Pryor. There is the inevitable Oprah roasting, but also a brilliant Star Trek spoof, "The Wrath of Farrakhan." Among the first season's breakout characters are Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier's finger-snapping "Men on Film," and Damon's Homey D. Clown. Carrey struts his stuff as "female" bodybuilder Vera DeMilo. Coffey is a scream as Samantha Kinison and Andrea Dice Clay. 5 starry snaps up!!!
This show has to be one of the best comedy sketch series of all time. This show....the Simpsons...and Married With Children are what really put FOX on the map...and with good reason! This first season is constantly funny. Every show spoofs something that was going on in the early '90s....whether it was the Homeboy Shopping Channel....Hey Mon...or even Homey D. Clown. The Wayans Brothers are very talented guys....who know how to make great political and social statements under the disguise of a laugh. While some of things covered in the show are a bit dated, most of the sketches are still relevant today...and that is the reason this DVD should be in your collection! And...who could possibly pass up seeing that dear pup Lassie '90...or Andrea Dice Clay! Forget MAD TV and SNL, give me IN LIVING COLOR!!!!! Hope Season 2 will hurry up and come soon!!!

Well it is about time...!!!!
One of the greatest shows ever created has been finally put on DVD. Even though I was young when this series came out in the early 90's i still remember and enjoy it the same. After watching the entire 1st season, it reminds me why I like the show so much. Skits like Men on film, art, and books, homey the clown, and anton jackson are so cutting edge. Even some of the things they said shocked me so I know they were shocking 15 yrs ago. I absolutely love Kim Wayans. I wish she did more things I also loved her on In the House. I had no idea that the mother on the disney show, "That's so Raven" got her start on I.L.C. Although the Wayans, David Alan Grier, Jim Carrey, and Tommy Davidson are funny I wish I could have seen more of Kim Coles, or Synclaire, more on the show. (That's another show that should follow suit, Living Single). I even loved the Fly Girls, Dedra and Lisa were my favorite. From the cutting edge jokes, to the "Two snaps up" from Antoine Merriweather is pure classic. I love this season and I can't wait for the rest. Fave skits: Men On...., Homey the Clown, Anton, Grace Jones, Endangered Species, the Hedleys with all the jobs, Oprah, and Andrea dice clay!

Ron Burgandy gets tiring after awhile
Will Ferrell (Old School, Elf), Paul Rudd (Wet Hot American Summer, The Cider House Rules), David Koechner (Bruce Almighty, Tv's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), Christina Applegate (Tv's Married With Children, A View From The Top)and Fred Willard (Best In Show, How High) star in this movie about Legandary Anchorman Ron Burgandy. There are a lot of raunchy and disgusting things in this movie that really pull it down but it's main punch is those little clever jokes on the side. Examples are when Ferrell is talking to his dog. The anchormen brawl in the alley. All the anchorguys singing. If your a fan of Ferrell's then go see this, you wont be dissapointed. Actors who make guest cameos are the following: Luke Wilson (Old School, Alex and Emma), Vince Vaughn (Dodgeball,Swingers) , Jack Black (School Of Rock, High Fiedelity), Tim Robbins (Mystic River, The Truth About Charlie), Danny Trejo (Spy Kids, Once Upon A Time In Mexico) and for the love of god, this man should take a break from making movies, Ben Stiller (Dodgeball, Zoolander).

Absurbly Funny
Seeing the words: 'starring Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate' gave me the clue that I would be watching another golden performance from Ferrell himself. But I was still not prepared for how over-the-top and idiotic this film was.

On the other hand, however, I laughed the better portion of my head off - and so did most of the audience. And, when you think about it, that's not a bad way to spend a good 90 minutes in a dark movie cinema, is it?

The film tells the tale of Ron Burgundy, a vain, ridiculous, fictional San Diego television news personality in 1976 who's the #1 network news anchor in the local ratings and presumably based on 70s anchor Harold Green. A billboard says it all: 'If Ron Burgundy says it - it's true.'

He leads a pompous, sexist group consisting of redneck alpha-male sportscaster Champ Kind, played by David Koechner, sleazy Geraldo Rivera-like ladies man in Brain Fantana, played by Paul Rudd, and moronic weatherman, Brick Tamland, played by Steve Carrell, who rebel against the station's manager, Ed Harkin (Fred Willard) when a beautiful woman, Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate is brought in for diversity's sake.

Burgundy thinks diversity means an old, wooden Civil War ship, but soon falls for the blonde, curvacious former star of Married With Children head over heels.

Unfortunately, a run-in with a burrito, Jack Black on a motorcycle and Burgundy's pet pooch on the Coronado Bridge changes the newsman's life - for the worst (which results on a great scene). With Corningstone's star on the rise and Burgundy in decline, he falls into a three-month drunken stupor (on milk, no less) before an opportunity comes along to change his fortunes.

Like his previous turns in Old School and Elf, as well as most of his characters on Saturday Night Live, Ferrell is as hilarious in his addled simplicity and gives a very good comedic performance capturing the misogyny and ignorance of many 1970s male chauvinist pseudo-celebrities, especially those who populated local TV and radio stations before cable came along.

The silliness of the wild leisure suits, white shoes, overstarched hair, sideburns and mustaches is only matched by the gang fight scene in which Burgundy's group goes up against the likes of other newsmen, including Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller and, of all people, Tim Robbins.

Though it sweetly preaches acceptance and equality, McKay's scattershot comedy is primarily founded on the premise that there's nothing funnier than dialogue strewn with ludicrously illogical lines, such as Burgundy, grief stricken over the sudden murder of his beloved Spanish-speaking dog Baxter (who he refers to as "a miniature Buddha covered in hair"), screaming to his friend from a phone booth, "I'm in a glass case of emotion!" Carell's brain-dead Brick randomly exclaims about women "I read somewhere that their menstruation attracts bears!" and Burgundy's vain crew engages in a weapon-filled rumble with Vince Vaughn's competing, second-rated local broadcast team in which the only rule is "No touching of the hair or face." Anchorman's satiric skewering of the era's fashion, cheeky optimism, and sexism occasionally grows a bit stale, but it's hard to keep a straight face when somebody thinks San Diego means "a whale's vagina."

this movie was awesome! it is extremly funny and enjoyable. anyone who likes comedies, will love this!!

Scotchy, scotch, scotch...
I went to see this with no more expectation for this movie, than to have some good laughs and on that, Anchorman delivered. I liked that it was set in the 70's and in San Diego! No place I would have rather grown up in the 70's, than in SoCal! :)) Great music too!

Once again, some Amazon reviewers are too serious. If you actually go to this movie intending to see something with a deep plot or soul shaking message, you will be disappointed! Go rent the Mel Gibson/Jesus movie for that!

i thought this was a really funny movie. And i dont lead a shallow life. You may walk out thinking that it was odd but then you begin remembering all of the funny stuff that happened. You will remember the titans...
No matter whether you're a fan of sports or not, Remember the Titans is an incredibly inspiring film.
Based on a true story, it is set in 1971 at TC Williams High School, a school that is about to intergrate white and balck students for the first time.
The school's football team meet pre-season, and the separate white and balck groups must learn to get along under the guidance of Coach Herman Boon (Denzel Washington).
What follows is a remarkably touching and powerful story, that mixes tragedy and success.
Great acting by all involved, especially the black members of the cast, who are funny and add something else to an already 5-star film.
For movie fans of all genres, Remember the Titans is a great movie that will inspire you and having you watch it again and again. This is the greatest sports film ever made, and it is sure to have watching intently from beginning to end.

A MOVING STORY OF HEROIC DETERMINATION
Denzel Washington is Coach Boone, a black football coach who finds himself in unfamiliar territory when he is appointed head coach of a high school team in its first year of intergration. When the fomer coach Yoast agrees to be his assistant it seems that turmoil and not determination will rule the squad.

Boone's determination to win is only outmatched by his drive for racial harmony within the team and coaching staff. By forcing his players to interact he creates bonds and friendships. Throughout all of this he knows he must win or his tenure as head coach will be short lived. He must not only battle the racial tension in the team, but in the town as well. Only his sheer will can guide his team to the promised land.

The movie is an outstanding piece of cinema. It adresses a social issue with raw emotional power. It teaches a lesson without screaming it in your face. The acting is without a doubt full of some of the best performances of the year to not have been recognized by Oscar and the likes. While Denzel Washington and Will Patton are phenomenal the show is stolen by the members of the team. Watch this film and you will get the point. An emotional five star film worth watching again and again.

Hands down, one of the greatest movies I ever watched.
Believe it or not, I never even heard of this movie until recently. I'm not a big sports fan, or a sport movie fan so when my boyfriend brough this over to watch, I was less than thrilled.

However, once it started, I was captivated by it.

The movie is made even better based on the fact it is based on a true story. The jist of it is this... Herman Boone, played by Denzel Wahsinton perfectly, takes over as new head coach at a high school that has been desegregated. Naturally, the town has mixed reactions.

We watch as Boone, uses tactics that neither the players, the parents, the townsfolk or even his assistant coaches like to force the players to not only become a team but also respect each other as people. We watch as friendships form, and as a team forms.

Eventually we watch as the winning football team, and essentially Boone brings the town together.

This movie brings something to the table for everyone. I laughed, I cried, I even cheered during the games. A must see!

The Die Hard - The Ultimate Collection is the best!!!
The Die Hard - The Ultimate Collection may be the best action/adventure series of the last two decades (vastly more enjoyable than the sporadic Bond films, and the self-indulgent Lethal Weapon movies), and a lion-share of the credit must go to Bruce Willis, the wise-cracking, superhuman yet humane hero. Willis became a superstar with the first Die Hard, and he is riveting as John McClain, the New York cop in L.A. With the always watchable Bonnie Bedelia as his wife, and the flashy Alan Rickman as the mercenary/entrepenour, the film is a non-stop rollercoaster ride! Die Hard 2 lacks Rickman's charisma as the villain, but Willis again gives a dynamite performance, and Bedelia is even better than in the first film. Spectacular special effects abound! Die Hard With a Vengence, the weakest of the trio, was originally intended as Lethal Weapon 4, but was rewritten for Willis and Samuel Jackson. Bedelia's absence hurts the third film a great deal, but Jeremy Irons (as Rickman's equally greedy brother) is an excellent villain. Incredible pyrotechnics highlight this film, and Willis is still a joy...And rumor has it, there WILL be a Die Hard 4!

"One of the greatest action trilogies ever made"
The Die Hard trilogy is quite in fact action-packed but you can't really say that it is the best. Overall, it is great and never boring even if you watch it 200 hundred times. Bruce Willis was perfect for the role as the crime-fighting, trash-talking John McClane, a cop who always finds himself at the wrong place at the wrong time. I enjoyed these movies and had to watch them over several times before quitting but anyway, here's the review:

Die Hard: In the first one, made in 1988, McClane, the NY cop, is coming to visit him wife Holly in an Los Angeles building. He soon finds himself in a room on the top floor filled with parties and drinks and begans to relax. However, at the lobby, something is wrong. The guards have noticed an unknown truck entering the parking lot. They don't know that inside this truck is a ruthless gang of terrorists led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman in his best role). Well, you know what happens. They kill all security and try to break into a vault to steal a couple million as well as rounding up some hostages. However, they don't know that they haven't caught McClane. And now it's up to him to save his wife and the hostages in a brutal and bloody battle against Alan Rickman! Very fast-paced. You won't know where the time went as well. Great directing by John McTiernan. Overall, the best movie of the series.

Die Hard 2: Die Harder - It seems that McClane is in trouble again when a group of terrorists take over an airport that is threatening to blow up all the planes (one plane has McClane's wife) if they don't receive a wide load of cash. Once again, it's time for McClane to grab his guns and save the day! This movie was much worser than the previous two (probably because it wasn't directed by John McTiernan) but Renny Harlin. I mean, Cliffhanger and Deep BLue Sea was good but every other film was hardly interesting. It's a very edge-of-your-seat thriller though I recommend not seeing this first because you will think the whole Die Hard series is a waste of time.

Die Hard with a Vengeance - McClane is back in New York City working with Samuel L. Jackson! After Simon Gruber, (I think) the brother of the main terrorist in the first Die Hard, blows up a local building, cops send John McClane to check it out. However, they discover that this man doesn't want revenge, he just wants money! A brutal deadly game of cat-and-mouse follows with plenty of action that will keep you gripped.

Three Of The Greatest Action Films Ever Made
With action films all the rage in the 1980s', director John McTernian took a stab at it and struck gold with "Die Hard". This was the film that made Bruce Willis a star and proved that action films could be more than rediculous, overblown shootouts. It inspired two smash sequels. All three are in this boxed set.

1988's "Die Hard" is where it all began. Hardened New York City cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) just wants to fly out to L.A. and spend Christmas with his kids and his estranged wife Holly (Bonny Bedelia). But when he goes to meet his wife at her work station at Nakatomi Plaza, things go awry. A group of Russian terrorists led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman in his best pre - Harry Potter role). They kill the office's head boss and hold everyone hostage - including Holly. McClane goes out on a limb with only his gun and his cunning to protect him. What ensues is nonstop, heartstopping action and some great moments of humor. Also in this film is Reginald VelJohnson, the star of the longrunning tv show "Family Matters".

McTernian was absent for 1990's "Die Hard 2: Die Harder". so Renny Harlin was tapped to direct. Willis, Bedelia and VelJohnson were the only original castmemebers for this one. In this one, McClane is at a Wshington D.C. airport waiting for Holly's plane to land. While waiting, he gets involved in a shootout that results in death and has an argument with an imcompetent police chief (Dennis Franz). Worse, he gets word that a group of terrorists are planning to take over the airport and free a drug lord. All this chaos throws McClane back into action. This causes flights to be delayed, and many planes are running low on fuel - including Holly's. While not as good as the first one, this one has enough thrills and comedy to satisfy.

After a five - year absence forom the screen, 1995 saw "Die Hard With A Vengeance" released. This is one is my personal favorite. Willis once more plays McClane. This one is quite different from he first two. First, the plot has nothing to do with Holly (Bonny Bedelia). In fact, Holly isn't even this film at all. Second, this film has McClane in his official city of work, New York. Still, it's a great movie. In this one, a bomber named Simon (Jeremy Irons) is targeting McClane for a delightful game of cat and mouse (wait until you find out why). So McClane once again goes out on a limb to risk his life for innocent people. Only, this time he has help from a reluctant civillian (Samuel L. Jackson). Once more, heartstopping action and hilarious humor fills the movie.

Extras include documentaries, tarilers and comentaries. This a great collection movies that I highly recommend. Also recommended is the "Lethal Weapon" boxed set and the "Dirty Harry" boxed set.

I could have chosen the Lord of the Rings box set, Star Wars box set, or the Die Hard box set and in the end I chose this one. I love this set. What your getting hear is 6 discs, 3 movies, 3 hours 44 minutes of featurettes, trailers, interviews, "making of" documentaries, ONE AWESOME SET, and much more. I'm not going to explain that much about what happens in each movie because either you already know what happens or you have seen other reviews that tell you about the movies. This is a great set though. I'm very proud to own it.

One of the classic action trilogies!
For me, this will always be one of the classic action trilogies. John McClane is a great action-movie hero---a domestic James Bond in the guise of everyman---and Bruce Willis will forever be linked to the character. As for the movies: DIE HARD is an influential action classic, now and forever; DIE HARD 2 is not quite as good but still a worthy sequel, and a lot of fun to watch; and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE is the least of the series, generic and incoherent despite its skillful action sequences. Still, the DIE HARD trilogy will always have its place in action-movie history, and this Ultimate Collection is the definitive DIE HARD DVD collection, with all three Special Edition releases in a box that is slightly less expensive than buying all three separately. The Emperor's New Groove--A Groovy Movie!
The Emperor's New Groove is a very interesting movie. Viewers will have a comical experience, typical of Disney movies. The animation of this movie is also excellent, showing details that really make the movie shine. The music is wonderful, contributing to an overall outstanding movie.

This movie is fun for all ages, clean for a child safe movie and comical enough for the adults. Join the arrogant Kuzco as he learns a lesson in hospitality, he won't soon forget. Prepare to meet Pacho, the villager who unwittingly will teach him that lesson, and a score of other interesting characters. This movie had my interest from start to finish.

The Ultimate Groove has special features like you wouldn't believe. Did you ever wonder how a Disney movie was made, or what goes on behind the scenes? Prepare to have these questions and more answered as Director and Producer take you behind the scene, on your choice of tours. Play a game, and help Kuzco get to the castle, but beware. Danger lurks right behind you.

This game was fun, but not that fun. I would not spend too much time on it. Overall, I vote for the Ultimate Groove for the backstage tours and commentary. If this does not sound like your interest, the normal version is an absolute must.

Just shy of a five-llama rating
I avoided seeing this movie in theaters, due in large part to the television and print ads which made the film seem dumb and uninteresting. I bought the DVD largely because it was a special edition and I want to encourage Disney to make more. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the film was a pretty straight comedy buddy picture which didn't get bogged down in obligitory romances or other typical plot devices. It's not really one of my favorite animated films, but it's fun and I like it.

This is a pretty good special edition, though it lacks that bit of extra oomph that would have made it a great one. The bonus material gives viewers a pretty good overview of the film's production, including some nice bits of rough animation of the major characters. The commentary, while lacking the guys-sitting-around-talking-about-their-movie-and-having-fun informality of something like "A Bug's Life", is infortmative without being boring. I guess my main gripe with this DVD is the lack of real information about the "Kingdom of the Sun" version of the film. I realize that Disney wasn't really happy with the way that was going and would probably rather forget it. But a synopsis of the original plot would have been interesting, even if it only shows why that version was scrapped. Overall, this is a nice DVD that will please fans of the film and provide some interest for the animation buffs.

Awesome movie!
My kids watch this one all the time. My youngest just loves it, she laughs through the whole movie (and so do!) David Spade is hilarious as Kuzko the self obsorbed Prince turned Llama, and John Goodman plays a heartwarming Pacha, the peasent who's home Kuzko wants to destroy to make his dream vacation spot.

Talk about baseball instead
This movie stars David Spade as a "llama." Who cares about a llama? Well, he does not start out as one. The movie is about an emperor who gets a spell cast on him. This movie is lame.

Ho-hum Disney Flick
The Emperor's New Groove never gets your pulse up. You never care about any of the characters. It would have been ok as a Saturday morning cartoon special, but is unworthy of the title "Disney Animated Feature." David Spade stars as an Inca king who is turned into a llama to teach him a lesson on kindness. John Goodman voices his best friend. The villian looks like an anorexic Cruella DeVille with disgusting spidery eyelashes.

Endless babbling and anachronistic cultural references made me weary. I was glad when it was over. I know that the destruction of the Inca civilization at the hands of the Spanish conquistadors was one of history's greatest tragedies. But if I were Pizzarro, and the Incas were this annoying, I would have annihilated them, too! I recommend Disney's 2003 "Brother Bear" instead, as a wonderful film for both kids and adults. ... Please don't screw this one up
For God's sake, Please don't release this if it's going to be the same horrendous quality as the Season 3, Vol. 1 release. I bought the first season 3 DVD and It's un-watchable. I get a headache every time I try to watch it. There is a double image effect on every single episode. I hope that Fox read the reviews put out on this website regarding the last release and got the message. More than half the reviews refer to this problem. Everyone was thoroughly peeved.

Still fun to the end
This series [TV-Series 1965-1968] is formulated on the old serial cliff-hangers. The stages are cardboard and Styrofoam. The props look like anything lying around in the ware house. From the dialog you would not realize that the actors can and are acting. As the programs progress the stories get weirder to holds your attention. There are also several notable guests including Robbie the Robot that always outsmarts "The Robot" (Bob May) The Robot's voice is Dick Tufeld.

We all know the basic story of a saboteur Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) is too smart for his own good and his sabotage backfires from the start throwing the spaceship into who knows where with him trapped inside. What is worse is he never learns from episode to episode. Prof. John Robinson (Guy Williams) is the good guy father that is always giving one hope of being found or getting back. Maureen Robinson (June Lockhart) is the stereotypical motherly type and is caught occasionally stopping John from beating Zackary's brains out. We have mischievous kids always wandering off to discover the new trouble. And a watered down love interest between daughter Judy (Marta Kristen) and Major Don West (Mark Goddard).

How did they survive?
What strange creature or disaster will befall them each week?
Now what are we going to watch?

Some one may have modified the media somewhat. "Oh, the pain, the pain." However we buy what we can.

The last 9 episodes
I loved this show. The last nine include "Target Earth" with the duplicates, "Princess Of Space" with a dual role for Angela, "Space Beauty" with Marta in a beauty contest, "Promised Planet" they finally arrive on Alpha Centauri to find hippies wanting to operate on Will & Penny. And of course, the infamous "Great Vegitable Rebellion". I will buy this, however, I wish they had more extras. No sign of Angela on Season 3, Vol. 1.

Hallelujah!!!!We'll Finally Have 'Em All!!!
In the first place, I am so glad that Fox has finally come to their senses and released Lost In Space on DVD.We have waited long enough for our show, but our big disappointment has been that there are no extra features - (no interviews, no outtakes, no behind the scenes stories, not even a photo gallery of the actors - especially Guy Williams, he is why I watch the show).

While the writing was more intelligent in the first season, I believe that the show would have been much better if the producers and writing revolved around the adults more instead of "Danger, Danger, Will Robinson", 'Dr. Smith' and 'The Robot'.

Season 3 - 'Great Vegetable Rebellion', guess the actors needed the money (How Embarrassing)!!

The overall quality of the DVDs are very good.I don't notice any 'Ghosts' or 'Shadows', just wish they included more special features.

From gliding through the Misty Mountains and reliving Gandalf's battle with the Balrog to the Battle of Helm's Deep, the climactic scene of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, I think that, even though Frodo Baggin's (Elijah Wood) quest is still unfulfilled, a group of hard-working New Zealanders have once again created an epic adventure confection of a movie, full of fantasy, courage, imagination and flair. J.R.R. Tolkien would not have been disappointed.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, since is a continuing of a story, doesn't stop to introduce us to the quest or the characters from the first part, The Fellowship of the Ring. Beginning right where the first left off, Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) must continue their quest to Mount Doom and destroy the evil One Ring. Hunting them done is the rascal Gollum (Andy Serkis) but promises to lead them in to Mordor secretely. In Fangorn Forest, captured hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) escape from the Orcs and are rescued by Treebeard (voiced by John Rhys-Davies), an ancient ent.

Meanwhile, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) enter the country of Rohan. After the miraculous return of Gandalf (Ian McKellan), the four see King Theoden (Bernard Hill). But the king isn't doing too well. He's doing practically everything his servant Grima Wormtongue (Brad Dourif) is telling him. Wormtongue is in league with Saruman (Christopher Lee) and therefore is kicked out of Rohan. Aragorn, Gandalf and Theoden must discuss Rohan's plans to counter Saruman and Sauron.

Saruman is preparing for war, as we've also seen in The Fellowship of the Ring. He has been crossing orcs with goblins, breeding the dreadful Uruk-Hai to launch against Men of Gondor and Rohan. Gondor has it's own problems holding off Sauron's evil army. It all comes down to Saruman against the country of Rohan: A war of 10,000 Uruk-Hai against hundreds of Rohan people. Can Men claim a victory against Barad-dur and Orthanc, the union of the Two Towers?

The Two Towers, for me at least, had a quicker pace and sharper sense of movement than the more-episodic Fellowship of the Ring. Peter Jackson easily presents a film that will keep your attention for the full three hours. In many ways, The Two Towers is a much livlier film than it's predecessor. It takes a deeper look into it's character's own problems, dreams and future, covering many subjects: The war for Rohan, the war for Gondor, the war for the ents, and possibly the most important, the fate of the One Ring.

If The Fellowship of the Ring was a beautiful-looking movie, The Two Towers easily surpasses it visually. With the use of a program called MASSIVE, Peter Jackson and company takes flawless computer animation and simplistically adds it to real-life to create a stunning world. The Battle of Helm's Deep is one of the most memorable scenes of all time, while it uses a fantastic blend of live-action and computer animation. I say it's already got the Best Visual Effects Oscar in the bag. Not just because of the CGI, but with the camera trickery to make the hobbits small and the great backdrops.

I am appalled by the number of reviewers saying that this isn't faithful to Tolkien's book. Everyone should know that books and film are two different media, and should be treated as such. Many things in Tolkien's story would've gone horribly wrong on screen. As Peter Jackson said, if you were to film LOTR page by page, faithful to everything, what you would get is a mess. Many don't realize that what works in a book will NOT work on film. Be happy that you actually have a LOTR movie. Many filmmakers would not have been up to transferring Tolkien's story to the big screen. Jackson did make a few unnessesary changes, but he's a brave filmmaker to actually take on LOTR and still make something this good. Quit whining.

It might need a bit more humanity, but I'd say the chemistry between characters is much more alive and vivid in The Two Towers than with The Fellowship of the Ring. The relationship shared by Gollum and Frodo, or more importantly, Gollum and Sam, works wonderfully. Aragorn trying to convince King Theoden to go to war and the characterization involving Gimli was exceptionally. The Return of the King will see a lot more of this.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers continues Tolkien's trilogy with very few missteps. It is on every count as good as the first, and in many ways, even better. It could possibly be the most sinister film ever, a banquet of monsters and beasts. It's doing so much better at the box-office than the first, and it easily surpasses it in spectacle. It's still unclear how it will do at the Oscars. Being a sequel, it might not get nominated for Best Picture. However, I'd say it has already sweeped the technical awards. It certainly deserves it.

This is the best of the three!!
Usually, the second movie in a trilogy is the weakest. It doesn't have the freshness of the first movie or the finality of the final movie. The Two Towers, however, is the exception to the rule. For lack of a better phrase, it rocks!!! The extra material included in this extended version DVD really fleshes out the movie. After you watch it you'll wonder why Peter Jackson left it out; it makes the movie complete. The fight scenes at Helm's Deep are great, and you forget that a lot of what you're seeing is computer generated. Several new characters are introduced, but you feel like you've known them all along. The best part of the movie is the addition of a Boromir/Faramir scene. Of course, I could be biased. I love Boromir (Sean Bean). This movie is a cinematic masterpiece. It's great!!!

Not just pasting in deleted scenes, this version was assenmbled from scratch with additional material that add to the depth of this movie. THIS is the version to buy for watching at home.

You haven't seen LOTR until you've seen this!
OMG! I love this movie so much, I never put it back in the case...it's always in the dvd player. If you at all liked the original theatrical version, you HAVE to get the extended version. The addded footage completes the story and fills in character developement. And you HAVE to listen to the cast commentary. Dom and Billy are hilarious. And the bonus disks are well worth the money. One of the best animated movies of all time
The story of the animated film is similar to that of the first book, but contains parts of the second book. Dozy Alice is so silly she follows trouble by chasing a talking rabbit down hs hole. At the bottom, she drinks an unknown substance which helps her get through a talking door into Wonderland. Here she meets the Dodo, TweedleDum and TweedleDee (who tell her the story of the Walrus and the Carpenter), the Talking flowers (watch out for the snobby Iris!), the Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat. She even has un-birthday tea with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. However, Alice gets caught up in a game of croquet with the Queen of Hearts, and later a trial. The whole thing becomes such a nightmare, Alice realises she's had a dream while she dozed off.

Firstly, I don't know why loads of people think this film is cheesy. I know Alice isn't for everyone, but when you look at the other films made based on Children's classics by Disney (eg- Jungle Book, Hunchback of Notre Dame), you'll see it's more faithful than those films to the original. However if you have read the books and haven't seen this film, some characters are missing (eg- Duchess, Mock Turtle, Knave of Hearts, White Knight). This may just think that Disney has ruined this classic forever. They haven't. It's the best adaption I've ever seen.

Although I actually have the PAL version, I suppose the movie is just the same over in North America. The best bits are the Walrus and the Carpenter, the garden of singing flowers and flamingo croquet. And the Mad Tea Party is still the funniest part of a Disney classic. So buy this movie. Wether it's a video tape or DVD.

Disney's 13th Animated Masterpiece!
Following the success of Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland is snother Disney gem, this colorful,classic animated feature tells the adventures of young Alice in a rather odd way since it doesn't really follow the book by Lewis Carroll, but still, makes a wonderful and entertaining film. Although it was not well-liked when it was first released, it is considered today another one of Disney's greatest masterpieces. The colorful characters will make you laugh from beginning to end. It is hard to say who is the wicked villain in this film, since they all play a role in making Alice's day in wonderland not very pleasent, starting from the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Chessire Cat and the Queen of Hearts, who just wants to see someone's head roll.

This new Masterpiece Edition DVD set brings Alice in Wonderland to a more deserved release than that previous Gold Collection, which brought very little bonus features. The masterpiece edition does bring many more bonuses, and one of my favorites is that "Virtual Wonderland Party", in which children can enjoy a little while in a fantastic tea pary. Really great! This DVD also has the greatest cover art, I love it. 5 stars!

Follow the white rabbit Neo - no sorry, I mean Alice
I just spent a couple of hours looking at this wonderful movie and the extra features. The aptly named Masterpiece Edition is worth every penny, and like The Matrix, should be included in any movie collection, whether you have a child to hide behind or not.

Beautifully adapted and animated from Lewis Carroll's highly imaginative, high-trippin' classic, the imagery and illustrated puns amaze and amuse, especially the little things like the rocking-horse fly, the bread-and-butter flies, the vultures, the pencil and hammer birds, the momeraths, and the bird in the tree (Queenie Leonard) yelling "Ser-pennnnnt !"

The animators drew each frame based on the portrayals by the actors voicing the parts, and the stand-outs are Kathryn Beaumont as Alice, Ed Wynn as the Mad Hatter, Verna Felton as the Queen of Hearts, Bill Thompson as the White Rabbit, and the very flexible and versatile J. Pat O'Malley as Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dee, the Walrus AND the Carpenter, in one of the best scenes in the movie.

With fourteen songs, this is the most musical Disney around, but unfortunately, the songs are not very easy to sing along to, making me sound like William Hung every time I try to impress people with my thorough knowledge of the lyrics.

There are lots of interesting tidbits in the extras, such as the discarded Cheshire Cat song, and the fact that one of the songs was later re-worded for Peter Pan. There are other links between Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan, but you'll have to watch the extras to find out just what, cause I'm not telling.

For those who don't want to watch the previews at the beginning of the DVD, just press "Menu" and get plugged directly into Wonderland.

Disney-ized
One of my fav children's books gets Disney-ized. I find that this version is simply AMAZING! Yes, there are LOTS of drugged out images (ie..the caterpillar is smoking an opium pipe, she eats mushrooms to get bigger or smaller etc) but its a magical story and its told VERY well by the Disney guys. Not to be missed, grab it before its out of print.

It's about time!
Watching Sela Ward on "House" made me dig out my Season 1 DVDs of this fabulous series, and wish once and again that the other two years would be released on DVD. And now I see at least one of my wishes is coming true! Let's hope Season 3 follows soon -- the wedding episode ranks as one of the loveliest (and most tear-inducing) TV weddings ever, in my opinion.

Finally!
I've waited for the second season of "Once and Again" to be released ever since I got the first season set in November, 2002. So much of my life at the time was reflected in this series. (I was going through a divorce during this show's original ABC run; this series was a major factor in helping me cope.) Billy Campbell really shone in a two part story line in which his character, Rick, is implicated in a bribery scandal. It's a shame he was denied an Emmy for his great performance there. This set will be a more-than-welcome addition to my DVD collection. Now, let's hope we won't have to wait another three years for the third and final season to be released. ... Read more

A Powerful Film By Master Of Disaster Emmerich
