5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Romantic Movie
I saw this movie on ABC Family for the first time last summer and fell in love with it immediately. Not only are Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Patrick Dempsey wonderful in this (and it doesn't hurt that Patrick Dempsey has really grown into a great looking guy), but the locales and the music in this film are fantastic as well. I was so glad to see that they made it available to purchase, as this is one that I will definitely watch over and over again. It's just a really cute story from beginning to end.

5-0 out of 5 stars A delightful and romantic love story
This is an original ABC Family Movie which first aired on network TV in July 2003 and, thanks to an enormous following and fan request, this wonderful movie will soon be available for purchase on DVD. Amy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) was seven years old when her mother died. Before her Mom died, she left Amy a timeline to remember her by and to help her cope with her passing. The timeline included pivotal times of a young girl growing up, college, career, etc., leading up to finding her soulmate. Her Mom told her that lucky number 7 would be her true love. Enter number 6, Daniel, played by Brad Rowe, a meticulous, organized, career oriented handsome young man with whom Amy falls in love. Daniel seems to be the perfect match--Amy is also meticulous, organized, and career oriented and hopes to make partner in her law firm. However, Daniel is number 6. Before Amy gets in too deep, she concocts a plan to make Daniel number 7 by inserting another guy, Peter, played by the luscious Patrick Dempsey, into the number 6 slot. Peter is a sweet, very cute and good natured guy who manages a bagel store (but there is much more to Peter than meets the eye). He asks Amy to go to a friend's wedding for the weekend and she agrees to do so, with the intention of making him number 6, so that when she gets back home, she will pick up with Daniel where they left off. Peter asks her to pretend that she is his girlfriend because his ex-fiancee will be at the wedding and he does not want his friends to think he is still suffering. Neither one of them anticipate the feelings that they will have for each other. The next 45 minutes of the movie are my favorite due to the onscreen chemistry between Kimberly and Patrick. I must say that Patrick Dempsey has grown from a young skinny kid into a most handsome and charismatic man at age 37. I am truly smitten, and would love to see more of him on the big screen. Although the premise of the movie is farfetched, the story works because of the excellent performances of the cast and the chemistry between Kimberly and Patrick. Another plus is an incredible soundtrack. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys romance, great acting and good music. You will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars what a great love story
I saw this movie on TV and had to buy it!!! I love this movie & Patrick Dempsey. The Island is beautiful. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite movies!
I found this at Hollywood Video last night, and had never heard of it. (I don't have cable). But, I like Dempsy, and knew it had to be good. From start to finish it was a great movie! Dempsy is so dang hot in this movie!!! And the chemistry between him and Kimberly Williams is so strong. I'm watching it again tonight! (Hey, I get it for 5 days!!) I will probably watch it 5 times before dropping it off. ;-) But, you won't go wrong with this movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unexpected Gem
After seeing this surprising film, it's gone into the same place on shelves as "When Harry Met Sally," "Sleepless in Seattle," and "The Very Thought of You." The storys differ, but they all deliver a blissfull dose of satisfaction and bliss upon viewing. What's amazing is that "Lucky Seven" was made for television and yet still delivered such a great production. Definitely has made it into my all time favorite romantic comedies and I hadn't even heard of it before seeing it for sale on DVD. Took a chance and I'm all the happier for it.

Now... let's see how my wife likes it when she get back into the country. ... Read more

Following in the reptilian slime trail of Anaconda, this derivative monster movie from early 1998 plays like a cross between Titanic and Tremors, with parts of Aliens tossed in for good measure. Director Stephen Sommers couldn't recognize an original idea if it swallowed him whole--which, by the way, is exactly what happens to a lot of passengers on a luxury ship that is attacked by a giant serpent-like sea creature with a voracious appetite for human flesh. Treat Williams plays the leader of a mercenary crew whose members discover the ravaged ship and wage war on the creature; Famke Janssen joins him as an onboard thief and con artist who just happens to be highly skilled with automatic weapons. Of course, the action grows more intense as the body count rises and along the way the monster is gradually revealed in all of its gruesome glory. A guilty pleasure if ever there was one, Deep Rising arrived in theaters shortly after another waterlogged thriller, Hard Rain, and if nothing else it provides proof that the B-movie monsters of the 1950s are alive and well and as cheesy as ever in the age of digital special effects. --Jeff Shannon ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Good graphics and not much else
This was a pathetic attempt of a horror flick. The plot was awful and the monster okay. Save your $$$$ for something else.

4-0 out of 5 stars Titanic Is Invaded evil worm-like aliens
You must see Deep Rising. If you are a Sci-FI fan this is the hot tamale(though if you did not like Alien the movie I do not recommend this movie). The blood and gore is throughout the whole movie, so if your stomach is uneasy Deep Rising is not for you. A great action thriller about a boat driver who drives a bunch of theives to a Titanic like boat. But when the convicts arrive the find thal all the passengers had allready been robbed....of their lives. The rest is for you to find out. A must see Sci- Fi thriller.

5-0 out of 5 stars There Should Be One More Star Reserved For This Movie (#6)
Deep Rising was a creepy-crawly, slithering, edge of your seat, hellatious ride all packed into one movie that holds your eyes to the screen until all is said and done!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Indiana Jonse type action and story.
Action is fast paced and special effects are excellent. Has the feel of an Indiana Jones adventure with likeble hero and sidekick. Well worth the price of the DVD

3-0 out of 5 stars A MONSTER FROM THE DEEP ATTACKS THE "NEW TITANIC!"
BLOODY, GORY, AND EXTREMELY INTENSE, DEEP RISING REALLY DELIVERS THE ACTION! THE SEA MONSTER IN THE FILM CONSUMES EVERYONE ON BOARD THE "TITANIC-LIKE SHIP" WITH ITS NUMBEROUS TENTICLE FEEDERS AND LEAVES NO ONE ALIVE ONBOARD. BUT AT THE END THE CREATURE GETS WHATS COMING TO HIM. IT'S A MUST SEE IF YOU LIKE GORY SCI-FI ACTION MOVIES! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A perfect show for the little ones!
Sagwa is a wnderful show for young children, or for anyone for that matter! Sagwa goes on fun adventures and many times will run into trouble. It's up to her ask for advice and do the right thing. Sagwa learns many lessons and your children will too by watching her. Sagwa teaches kids to be thoughtful, creative, and kind. In the process children will learn about Chinese culture, traditions, and holidays. I recommend Sagwa to any family!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sagwa (Dumb Melon)
Sagwa's name fits her just right. Well if you don't have a cat that's adventurious and getting into trouble unintentially no one either kids or adults could learn from her mistakes. Both adults and kids can benefit from Sagwa; especially learning about the Chinese culture as well as learning from her mistakes and be kind and courteous towards each other. Some adults I think need to be double-dosed with Sagwa after all we are the adults of the world and are role models for the children of the world (Monkey see, monkey do). I have been saying for years now that Americans in general can learn from the Japanese about being humble. I've travaled through the Far East and learned alot. The most humble and courteous are both the Chinese and Japanese; especially the Japanese. The Japanese see most Americans as rude, crude and loud. Guess where these Americans get these bad habits from? It starts in the home with Mom and Dad. We as Americans need to turn ourselves around when it comes to this subject after all we are the international police of the world; we should act like it with first being humble. Let's start on the right foot and raise are children right and if you need any video aids; get Sagwa. Your not just raising your kids right, but also showing them what the world has to offer in different cultures and hope to God, we as a nation, get rid of racism. ... Read more

A single DVD contains two full-length programs:
Cat Nights, Flights, and Delights
Inspired by prize-winning author Amy Tan's children's book, Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat, this PBS offering features the adventures of the young Sagwa (approximately 8-years-old in human years) and her siblings, both in their Chinese palace home and on the streets of their city. "Firefly Nights" finds an "almost grown-up" Dong following Dad to see pyrotechnics the cats mistakenly take for glorious insects. Changing bad luck into good luck is the theme of "Fu-Fu's Full Moon Flight," in which a bat with poor echolocation saves Sagwa and his self-confidence. In "Shei-Hu's Secret," a trusting mouse shares his friends' hideaway with Sagwa, but her urge to brag puts them all in danger. Each 11-minute segment is followed by a minidocumentary on relevant topics like tai chi. PBS considers this a show for ages 5 to 8, but feline-loving preschoolers will enjoy it, too. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Feline Frenzy
Sagwa, her parents, her brother, and her sisters are expert calligraphers who serve the magistrate, but still find plenty of time for fun and adventure. In "Explorer's Club," Sagwa's brother Dongwa belongs to a Gamester's Club that refuses to include Sagwa in its membership. Sagwa forms her own Explorer's Club and excludes Dongwa, but a perilous situation soon necessitates that the rivals work together. In "Treasure Hunters," teamwork and quick thinking yield rich results, and in "Sick Day," Sagwa and Dongwa discover the joy of imagination and storytelling while the rest of the palace learns the power of cooperation. Brief interviews with children from around the world punctuate the episodes, offering a glimpse of a variety of cultures. Sagwa is a wholesome, entertaining series from PBS that encourages curiosity, cooperation, and an appreciation of different cultures. --Tami Horiuchi ... Read more
