4-0 out of 5 stars Great thriller for kids over 8!
I saw this movie previewed before an audience of over a hundred school kids. By the middle of the movie they were cheering the heroine and totally engrossed in the action. Parents and kids will both enjoy the suspense, and the girl who plays the lead is great.

1-0 out of 5 stars "It's not good or bad, it just is."
Well, if you are looking for a good movie to make fun of, this is certainly it. The plot is rather ridiculous, and lacks realism to the max. Somehow a plane is struck by lighting, and this destroys several control components, and injurs the pilots. Somehow, the lights and radio are still functional, but a hole has been ripped in the side of the plane. But it's a good thing that the hole only sucks things out at oppoutune moments, but allows the girl to walk by without flying out of the plane on several occasions. And it's a good thing she has a cell-phone on board, for when the radio mysteriously explodes. And since there was no "do not attempt these stunts at home" disclaimer, I think I'll try jumping off the back of a refueling plane onto the landing gear of a nearby plane, hopefully suffering no personal injury, despite the high velocity at which I would be traveling.

Yes, a bad movie, but definitely worth seeing, it's a good laugh.

Oh yeah, and the box looks a whole lot like the box for Turbulence, another awesomely bad movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Just Any Airplane Movie!!!!!
Okay, yes you have people flying in a plane and all of a sudden something happens, but this in not your ordinary airplane movie nor is it your ordinary DVD. Elisha Cuthbert (Are You Afraid Of The Dark) stars as Nicole, a 13-year-old spoiled daughter of parents who own a software company. On her way to her parent's convention, the plane she is traveling in with two of her relatives gets hit by lightning, knocking the pilots and everyone on the plane oncouncious except for her, and not to mention, making a hull-breach in the plane. Now it is up to Nicole to, of course, take matters into her own hands. She has many helpful tools and air-tower support to survive. Will she make it? You will never know unless you buy this DVD now from Amazon.com! This unique DVD comes in a very unique jewel case which is thinner than any case I have seen and saves space on the shelve. Upon inserting the DVD, the main menu has tons of action immediately. All the scene selections are displayed in full movie motion so you can easily see what you need to jump to without the hassle of guessing. Excellent movie score. Great acting Elisha!

2-0 out of 5 stars AIR(port 1975) + Speed (2) = Airspeed
Not much new here. It's all been done before. The title says it all. Same plots, for the most part. You're better off getting Airport 1975 and, if you must, Speed 2. Good for an afternoon popcorn movie though. Just make sure you have enough to keep you occupied.

1-0 out of 5 stars Are you all joking?
they should put this movie on mystery science theatre. must have been the funniest movie to make comment at i've ever seen. it had the most ridiculous plot. how come they didn't bring any profesionals in to help out. instead the air traffic controler guides her in. yeah, this is a keeper. be lookin for it on next year's oscars. ... Fatal Attraction meets A Beautiful Mind in this fact-based Lifetime thriller. Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg) is sexually confident medical writer Ellena Roberts. Shortly after we meet her, she is arrested. While in jail, she meets with sympathetic defense attorney Sara Miller (Kate Burton) and recounts her side of the story. It seems she had a relationship with married surgeon David Stillman (Sam Robards), but he broke it off. She didn't want things to end and continued to write, to call, etc. She didn't make any threats, but nor would she give it a rest, so he called the cops. The case goes to court and David claims he knew Ellena professionally, but that they never had a relationship. By the end, we have a pretty good idea as to what really happened. That's because one person is sane--and therefore credible--while the other is not. --Kathleen C. Fennessy ... Read more

Henry Smovinsky (Eric Roberts), Smoke to his friends, is a cop with problems. His ex-wife, whom he hasn't seen in 16 years, has been found dead on the street outside her apartment, an apparent suicide in a fall from her balcony. But there's more than meets the eye here, when he gets custody of his son Adam (Jason Tierney), and suspicion of murder turns to the son and then to Smoke himself.Soon it comes out that the ex-wife was a high-class hooker, with many influential clients and first-class protection from the police force. With no one to trust except Officer Maggie Furness (Eliza Roberts, Eric's real-life wife), who was assigned to the investigation but kept about as much in the dark as Smoke, he runs his own investigation, which involves healing the wounds between him and the son he's never known. This gritty, realistic thriller never overstretches for effect, but keeps a solid atmosphere of street-smart seediness throughout, with a finely measured performance especially by Eric Roberts. --Jim Gay ... 4-0 out of 5 stars For Sci Fi Lovers Only
Yep! It's me again. You must think all I do is sit around and watch movies. You're right. In a stressful job this is the best therapy. At work I earn every penny of my salary. At play (home) I indulge in my love for film.

So what did I think of the Science Fiction thriller "Habitat"? It's definitely for Sci Fi folks...only. It is a bizzarre tale of what happens when the ozone layer is destroyed and mankind must shield itself from the microwave effect of sunlight.

So why is it called "Habitat"? An obsessed scientist and his beautiful and sexy wife, create their own environment inside the confines of their home...a vegetation filled fantasyland of plants and flowers that literally ooze with life.

This one plays out like an expanded episode of "The Outer Limits"...but it is definitely "R" rated for the seductive passions of mom and girlfriend. Quite bizzarre. A definite 8 on my 10-scale for Sci Fi. Many people did not like this flick. I was intrigued and thoroughly entertained. A great Friday Night flick...in early November...alone in my own HABITAT. Paul

4-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful of Growing Things Indoors
I had a pleasant surprise after seeing the video Habitat. The surprise was that it was quite well done (no pun intended) and rather uplifting. I have since had to add the DVD to my collection.

The Earth's ozone layer has been completely destroyed. People stay indoors and only dare to venture out at night. But one scientist is looking to bring back the greenery, but indoors. Combining fungi and various plants, the scientist hopes to create a new ecosystem. Runaway failures have forced him and his family to be on the run. At his latest location an underground pocket of water causes a disaster in the basement lab and the organisms mutate and spread through the house. The scientist becomes infected with the new organisms and dies (or so it seems).

As the new ecosystem gains more control of the house, it is learned that the scientist is not dead, but has been transformed into an energy-like state. In this state he is able to attack people and make them immune to the sun's burning rays. But eventually the authorities catch up and try to stop the ecosystem. While they manage to destroy quite a bit, they are unsuccessful at stopping this new hope for the world. Man will no longer have to huddle in the dark and rely on artificial foods.

I really enjoyed this one. I was expecting some fun schlock but found higher quality lurking in the cheesy box. The necessity of camera angles and visibility make the sun shades look rather inefficient but all in all quite well done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Intelligent Sci-Fi
Okay, here's my theory of why so many people don't like this movie: Perhaps someone hears about the three nude scenes (don't forget the science lady who's clothes get ripped up just right)plus some nice see-through outfits. So they're thinking, Hey! there's no good T&A flicks on Cinemax tonight, so let's go get that movie! They go rent it, and lo and behold, it actually has this really deep story that lays on the science pretty heavily, where you have to be very alert and somewhat intelligent to understand everything the characters are talking about. Well, if you're just watching it for a few nude scenes, then you're going to be really upset and disappointed with the rest of it!
This movie is very well thought out, the special effects are very convincing (the house really does give you the creeps), the script is beautifully written, and the actors pull it off splendidly. I love some of the lines in this movie, such as when Clarissa (Alice Krige) tells the bully that comes into the plant-infested house, "Young man, you don't go barging into the animal den. You may end up on the wrong side of the food chain." Another favorite line is "Through the bonds of matrimony, copulation is no longer fornification. It's procreation." These aren't direct quotes-I'm going from memory. Anyway, this is indeed one of those forgotten gems in which a small budget was used to make a great piece of work, much like The Wraith or Sleepwalkers (another with Alice Klige at her best). Give this movie a try when you're in the movie for some serious, yet highly entertaining sci-fi that really makes you think.

3-0 out of 5 stars Redeemed only by the nudity
Yup, Alice Krige and Laura Harris showing their gorgeous bods is the "best" thing about this film.
There's really not a whole lot to say about a film that seems like it was probably originally an exciting-sounding concept to its creators, but ended up being somewhat....blah. I'm not sure how they could have pulled off a film in which a family's house turns into a living jungle, and the Dad turns into some sort of weird creature which can break down into little green molecules and fly around because of his science experiments. The neighbors who dislike them get killed trying to put a stop to the house's growth. Okay. BUT...
Laura goes for a nice skinny-dip, which makes this essential viewing for any Celeb skin collector.

1-0 out of 5 stars I want the two hours I wasted on this back
My first impression of Habitat was that this was gonna be a really underrated and overlooked sci-fi gem, but the end results are one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The storyline is intriguing and interesting, but the screenplay and direction are overly sloppy, not to mention that Balthazar Getty and Tcheky Karyo are wasted in their roles, if they're acting talents were better used, this movie might have been not so bad. One good quality though, there is some nice T&A, and I never realized how hot Alice Krige was until I saw this, but other than that this movie is a waste. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hulk STILL Rules!
"Those guys aren't U.N."
This movie is Hogan's best, and dare I say one of the best "Commando"-esque movies out there! It's a funny movie- it just works. Check it out if you can find it. Good job Hulkster!!

5-0 out of 5 stars best acting ever !
This is quite possibly the most entertaining movie ever made. The terrible acting, hot babes and IRA villains make this a great movie for those nights when you're wasted and hanging out with all of your buddies. Even though Hogan may be an awful actor, he is still funny as hell.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hulk Hogan should just stick to wrestling
Man, someone needs to break the news to Hogan that he just cannot act. Aparently someone out there thinks that big guys with big muscles = big movie success (I.E. Arnold Schwarzenegger). The formula worked in Arnold's case. Well, Hulk is no Arnold by any means. Don't waste your time or money renting and please don't even consider buying this, or any Hogan movie for that matter. Now I know alot of people who have meet Hogan (He lives across the bay from Tampa in Clearwater) and they say he is nothing but a class act. Perfect father, husband and gentleman in general. Which is cool. He hasn't let his money go to his head, but he obviously hasn't spent any on acting lessons either.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just Like Pro Wrestling
This movie is like professional wrestling - bad acting, lots of action, mindless and also entertaining. Plus it stars the wonderul Cyndy Preston. Check it out if you want a guilty pleasure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful & Excellent Plot
How to get a murderer behind bars even though he has already been acquitted? This is a great movie about the triumph of justice in the case of two murderers who are going to jail for each other's crimes. This movie will keep you at the edge of your seats, for you won't know until the very end how it's all going to end up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Sunday afternoon movie!
I watched this movie this afternoon, & loved it. Its titlewas "Twist of Fate," & thinking it was the annoyingSteve Martin movie, I almost flipped the channel. I'm glad I didn't!

The star of the movie, actress Maedchen Amick, was honestly what kept me watching. However, the villain in the movie looked to me like a mixture of Bill Maher & David Caruso. Apparently, it was filmed in British Columbia. Overall, I'd say the movie was pretty decent... ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Who is Helen Slater?
This movie is so awful I don't even know where to begin. OK. Let me start. First of all, who is this so called Helen Slater who delivers this awful poor performance in this movie. She plays this woman who recently became blind and began dating Eric (Andrew McCarthy). Slater who plays the character of Carley delivers a performance that is sooo predicable and just plain boring. This movie is so unrealistic that I don'e believe it should have ever been made into a movie. Eric played by Andrew McCarthy of course was great, even though I don't think Andrew McCarthy is very convincing playing the bad guy. Who would believe he would be the bad guy in this movie, after looking into his baby blue sparkleing eyes. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Andrew but this part just was not, and I stress not right for him. Overall I do not reccommend this movie to anyone who is an Andrew McCarthy fan. If you are don't see this movie because you'll be highly disappointed. Besides he only came out in the movie for a total of about 20 minutes. Before spending 12.99 + tax, rent it first. The only reason I gave this crappily made movie two stars was because Andrew McCarthy appeared in it, not for the movie it self. Sorry, but the truth hurts.

3-0 out of 5 stars Remake of the Classic "Wait Until Dark"
Modern remake of the Classic "Wait Until Dark", pits Helen Slater against 2 psychotic killers.

As in the original, the lead is a woman newly blinded and having trouble adjusting to a world without vision. The brightest spots in Carly's life are her relationship with her lover, Eric, and the new loft they move into in the deserted warehouse district. Not surprisingly, one evening when Eric is away two parolee's break into the apartment and hold Carly hostage hoping to extract the combination to a safe full of diamonds from her. While a few others try and help, inevitably, Carly finds that the only person she can truly depend on is herself.

This was an OK updating of the classic movie with Audrey Hepburn, but to be honest that movie was so good I wonder why anyone would re-do it. Frankly too much material leads up to the home invasion espcially the criminals hstalking their hapless victim unseen. It doesn't add to the plot and the characters are thinly drawn enough to not need too much on-screen time to show us their motivation. A tighter story that focused on the lead would have worked much better.

I thought the acting was good and that Helen Slater does a great job as the defensless woman who discoves her inner strengh. I also really liked the nice job of forshadowing by having her practice Braille on a quote from Shakespere's Sonnet 94 "sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds".

This was a an OK movie but it suffers by comparison to such a classic as "Wait Until Dark". I have the DVD but there were no special features on it so the VHS would be just as good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Slater is excellent, as usual.
Helen Slater has always been one of my favorite actress and I must admit she was the reason I bought this movie. As usual, she didn't disappoint me, playing an amazingly convincing blind woman. She also writes and sings "detour", the main song of the movie: excellent! How come she never released an album?

As for the movie itself... Well, it's not a bad story; but there's nothing really unpredictable in it and the two bad guys are way too caricatural.

The DVD edition has no feature at all, not even a chapter menu. ... Read more
