Although it's only one element in a larger power struggle, the battle betweenrebellious alter-user Kazuma and disciplinarian HOLY officer Ryuho takes adramatic and unexpected turn. The death of Kimishima, his only real friend, sends Kazuma on a quest for revenge; he confronts Ryuho, who hates him to thepoint of irrationality. The battle that ensues is so furious, it reconfigures thetopography of the Lost Ground and causes both characters to disappear. Monthslater, Kanami waits for Kazuma to return, while Mimori and Scheris search fortraces of Ryuho. Writer Yosuke Kuroda and director Goro Taniguchi beginhighlighting some of the minor characters: superfast Cougar; gentle Tachibana;Elian, who commands extrasensory powers; Urizane, who travels via a disappearingwatermelon; and the sinister Kyoi Mujo. Like cagey boxers, the filmmakers feintand weave, keeping the audience slightly off-balance with their unexpectedmaneuvers. (Rated 13 and older: violence, mild profanity) --Charles Solomon ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More Alters, More Action, More Scryed
The third volume is yet another great addition to the series, and some really important things happen (more on that below). This really is a great series, and if you haven't seen it yet, I reccomend you go get volume one (get the series box. it's worth it) ASAP.

Anyway, in this volume some interesting things happen (Spoilers ahead, don't read 'em if you don't want to know. You've been warned.)
Mimori was thrown in a jail cell after talking to Zigmarl about what exactly HOLY's doing. Thinking she'll never excape, she starts writing down thre truth on a little pocket computer thing, but Eelian (who was watching her) destroys it. However, Cougar comes and breaks down the walls in some dramatic Cougar-style rescue, gets her and her stuff, and brings her to the airport with a ticket to escape to the mainland. However, she chooses not to go, and starts wandering around Inner until she meets up with Asuka.

After his last fight with Emergy Maxfell, Kazuma was unconscious for two days. He wakes up mad - really mad and heads to meet Kanami so he can eat and then go find some more HOLY members to beat up. However, he and Kimishima discover that the farm Kanami works at was destroyed by HOLY. Kazuma starts fighting with the guilty members, the Darth Dozens (or Dars). Kimishima goes out and finds Kanami, until the two are captured by HOLD and taken to the same place where the rest of the farm workers are being held.

The news stations find out about the fight and get footage, which is broadcast on TV and seen by Mimori, Asuka, all of HOLY and HOLD, Kimishima... and Kanami. Kanami finally finds out that Kazuma is an Alter User and why he's always been running off, and she and Kimishima escape from HOLD to go find Kazuma. Kimishima drops Kanami off on the way, to keep her away from the fight, and finds Kazuma. He helps him win, but falls unconscious. Kazuma carries him back to Kanami, but he dies on the way. This Kazuma gets really mad and starts attacking HOLD units. Ryuhou goes after him, but finds Kanami, and Kazuma catches Scheris. Each angered by the actions of the other, they find each other and start fighting. Neither one really wins, because Kazuma's second-level Shell Bullet opens up a gate to the Other Side - a land of psychadelic Altery-ness that generally gives you a headache if you watch it too long.

This causes another earthquake and land upheaval, throwing the Lost Ground back into chaos. Eight months later, both Kazuma and Ryuhou are missing. Kanami is captured and used as slave labor by an Alter User named Dread Red, until a mysterious stranger comes along and stars fighting with the overseers and Dread Red's Alter (which I think is called the Delay Octopus... in any case, it's a big, ugly squidlike thing). Our mysterious hero turns out to be none other than...Ryuhou... with total amnesia?

The volume stops there in a massive cliffhanger, so you'll have to go get volume four to find out what happens, but it really is an awesome addition to the series, so go check it out if you liked the first two volumes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get's better and better
s-Cry-ed to me is one of those series that gets better with each volume and volume 3 is no exception. With this volume you start seeing more character development, among the members of HOLY, as well as a very major plot twist. The story continues to progress leaving you with questions to think about until the next volume is released. If you liked the first two volumes then trust me you won't be disappointed with its latest installment. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Batting Cleanup
While the Tokyo police are fine at dealing with human criminals, it takes something special to deal with the incursion of nightbreeds plaguing the city. Demonic creatures, rumored to come from the crossbreeding of vampires with humans, they seize human bodies from their original owners and use them to find new victims for their hungers. To combat this problem the beautiful agent Yayoi has formed an alliance with Shido, a vampire now sworn to aid humanity. Joining them are Guni, Shido's mini-demon familiar, and Riho, his secretary and assistant.

This may sound a bit like Buffy's Angel, but the similarity is only superficial. Nightwalker is much lighter in tone than its U.S. counterpart, depending on wisecracking and innuendo rather than the dark wit and sarcasm. Nor is 'Nightwalker' much like 'Hellsing,' another anime series starring a hero vampire, which deals with some of the same issues, but lacks humor entirely. Expect entertainment with a slightly noir touch and you won't be disappointed.

This DVD contains the first six episodes or 'nights' of the series. Each is an individual story of Shido's confrontation with a different nightbreed. These creatures range from things that lurk in tunnels treating cars as if they were filled pastries, to possessed actresses with a habit of devouring the competition. Shido and his team rely on the vampire's superior strength and instincts, as well as his ability to use his blood as a magical sword.

Several overall story arcs are also in play as well. Shido's old vampire lover, Cain, tries to make Shido take a part in the mysterious 'Golden Dawn.' This in turn introduces the theme of Megumi who bears a child that might be a new kind of demon. The other theme of interest is the development of Riho, who starts out as a schoolgirl with a crush on Shido, but who is much more by the end of episode 6.

As I've already indicated, this series is a bit of a confection, but it is a successful one. The artwork is attractive and the characters have some depth to them. There is quite a bit of sexual banter as well as violence and nudity, so this is not an anime for children. On the other hand, none of this is so offensive that it needs to be treated as 'adults only' either. Most anime fans will find it very mainstream and enjoyable. I am looking forward to the second DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shido Rocks!
I absolutely loved this anime, once my friend showed it to me I was instantly hooked and had to buy it for myself. Our hero is Shido, a puple haired vampire who has sworn never to hurt another human being again. Together with Guni, an urban faery, Riho, a schoolgirl that is in love with him, and Yayoi, a detective, Shido rids the world of Breeds while avoiding Cain, the vampire who stole Shido's memories because he 'loves' him. The 13 and up may be a bit too low for some of the themes and scenes in the show. This anime is perfect for those who love vampire stories and anime.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beginner's Luck
Ok, I'm pretty new to the anime scene, but, for a beginner's choice, this one rocks! Shido is a half-vampire who compensates for his need for human blood by hunting nightbreeds, the local evil demon baddies. He's assisted by the supernatural specialist policewoman Yayoi, his spunky secretary Riho, and this bizarre little fairie thing(I'm not clear on her history) Guni. This series really turned me on to japanime stuff and now I'm pretty obsessed. While I've heard the plot may not be all that original, it's very easy to follow(sort of). All the episodes have individual plots and the ongoing one has to do with Shido's sire/former lover Cain, who wants Shido back with him. I really liked the action scenes, even though they got predictable after a while. Shido uses his own blood to make weapons such as whips, swords, and little darty things. It's all great if you like vampires and demons, though, the vampire theme isn't focused on very much, the nightbreeds kinda dominate. I'm confused about Shido's relationships with his aquaintences. With Yayoi, it's either professional or sexual, with Riho, he's either an older brother, a father figure, a boyfriend/crush, or employer. Anyway, I was facinated, but, like I said, this is pretty much the extent of my knowledge as far as vampire anime goes. I recommend it for beginners and anyone who wants to laugh(Guni's got a mouth on her)or see Shido whip the hell outta these nightbreeds. The animation is great and the casting was very well done. Watch this if you ever get a chance, it's incredibly, absolutely fabulous!

5-0 out of 5 stars Different View of Vampire Anime
The vampire is certainly a popular figure in anime, spawing films from Vampire Hunter D to series like Vampire Princess Miyu. Though the ideas and stories of NightWalker are not exactly original, the anime OAV (direct to video) series is rather cute and entertaining.

Private eye Shiro's secret is that he's actually a vampire, but one who has taken on the task of defeating the creatures of darkness in a futile quest to redeem the fall that transformed him to a vampire--viewers may find this similar to television's Forever Knight. Created by a powerful vampire bearing the biblically-suggestive name Kain, Shiro also bears a sprinkling of Anne Rice.

Shiro's partner, paranormal cop Yayoi, offers her own blood to sustain him as the two must defeat the "night breeds" in a series of six related yet distinct episodes. His "kawai" schoolgirl secretary Riho--though not immediately in on the secret--also finds herself caught up in the struggles between good and evil.

The series as a whole bears out a plotline of darkness verses light, with humans subverted by demonic forces to fall from grace and both Shiro and breeds wishing only for a life again in the light. The characters are what really drive the story, though; their interactions through a couple of episodes should draw in most viewers as they come to care about Shiro, Riho, Yayoi, and Shiro's impish, voice of his conscience sidekick Guni.

The English voiceovers are passable, but most anime purists will prefer the Japanese with subtitles option. The special features aren't incredibly detailed but do include scripts, an art gallery, character info, and production data.

I found that the cliches presented did not detract from the overall stories and came to rather enjoy the series as a whole. If you're looking for something different in vampire anime, give NightWalker a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well, start it up again!!
I thought that this series would go farther than it did, why did it stop? Now that Rorouni Kenshin has ended NightWalker should start up again. I found the drawing well done along with the dubbing. It should continue. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Well Maybe 3 1/2 stars (3 Stooges Play Cowboy@Indians)
There are many reasons why work gives you two days off you're suppose to get things done around the house or finish your writing. This is a lazy day where sinus meds decide what to do for you and that was watch Bail Out. This is an early film David Hasselhoff produce it was a bit campy but enjoyable (except for the nude girls that had nothing to do with the film).David Hasselhoff's character made me crack up I thought I didn't hear it right his name in the movie is "White Bread". The two other characters with Hasselhoff make the movie laughable just count how many times the "F" word is used must of ran out of script then. I really thought this movie was funny the only regret is Hasselhoff needed to make another movie with the two characters that were invovled with the whole moive. You'll know what I mean when one of them carries around a tool box which turns out to be nothing but guns. It is action/comedy movie with another damsel in distress rescue which David Hasselhoff pulls off well, but as I said without the other two this would of been a yawner. Good movie to watch when you're too lazy to do anything else especially on a boring day and nothing is on TV... Linda Blair's only funny part was at the end of the movie,it's well worth watching Hasselhoff try and ride a horse...tilt sideways and begin to laugh. Although the action is mostly at the end this movie it should of been brought forth sooner and maybe a bit longer to recieve more stars. It's an okay film but not David Hasselhoff's best.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bail Out
The picture and audio quality are the worst I have ever seen on DVD except for another movie by this same company.Save your receipt; you'll want your money back.

3-0 out of 5 stars Bail Out: A Mantastic Film
If you love good film, you will not like this movie. If you love bad movies, then you have met your match. It took two viewings for me to figure out the plot, but it was worth it to see David Hasselhoff as a gun toting tough/tennis pro called White Bread. Based on the scale of how much I'd pay to see this flick, I'd say spend no more than $2.99. For more about this movie visit www.popcrazy.com ... Read more
