Description Little Ray is trying to kill off the seven in an attempt to rule the world. When Christine learns that she is pregnant and that the baby is likely to have the antibody gene, she becomes a target of Little Ray, who kidnaps her. Now, Roland must save her, the baby and perhaps the last hope for mankind. Gary Daniels, Bryan Genesse, Barbara Crampton. Reviews (9)
The infamous 19-shot revolver, the innocent homeless man getting kicked over early in the movie, the mysterious man with a cord coming out of his back, the motorcycle rider that briefly forgets Roland's location after giving him the fiercest expression one could ever imagine, the magical moving mirror hanging on the wall in the highly emotional "beautiful back" scene, the highly skilled two-story-jumping ninjas, the painting-like acting of Gary Daniels, and the non-stop back-flipping action fed to us by the stunt men. This movie is entertaining and is a source for many inside jokes between the viewers. This movie gets three stars for being a comedy and one for an action movie.
I'm not a martial arts fan per se, so it didn't bother me that this movie doesn't have quite as many, nor as flashy, fight scenes as Gary's "Bloodmoon" did. I imagine that martial arts fans will nonetheless appreciate what is in this movie. There isn't exactly a shortage of knockdown martial arts fighting here. What this movie did have, moreso than some of Gary's other films, is an opportunity for Gary to act. He briefly plays two characters, and here one can see that he really can portray a character that is quite unlike the staid, somber hero part that the dialogue/script usually confines him to. It is almost disconcerting to see him playing such an uncharacteristic personality (as the married brother) -- very unlike his performance in any other movie (except perhaps "Spoiler" which also is an odd performance). Gary looks stunning in this movie. He sports a bit of a scruffy, unshaven look here, but it works very well on him. When the camera lingers on Gary's face, as happens in several scenes where he gets to show some emotion, one can see that this face is a work of sheer art -- the pinnacle of male beauty. And Gary's physique is equally as impressive, which he shows off a little in some scenes -- perfectly sculpted, proportionate, and defined. I would have liked to have seen more of a love interest explored. (Unfortunately, very, very few Gary Daniels movies do have a satisfactory plot development in this regard. It's inexplicable that here is one of the prettiest men on film, and yet he never gets a notable love story. Go figure). It also has a sensible (albeit perhaps not exhilarating) plot that could be understood and followed. It isn't just a series of fight scenes cut together. I think that this is one of Gary's best. It has a little bit of everything that you'd find in a Gary Daniels movie, showcased in a favorable way. You may find a better fight scene in Bloodmoon, or even more acting from Gary in Spoiler, or maybe even a more interesting plot in Delta Force or Hawk's Vengeance. But overall, Cold Harvest is a solid movie from him in all regards.
Hmmm, can I recommend it? Well, if you like low-budget action movies, it's certainly not the worst around. The 2 stars are for the non-stop direction by Florentine and maybe half a star for Gary Daniels and his cigar-chomping stance on the video cover. If you're drawn to this movie for Daniels, check out HAWKS VENGEANCE (a better Gary Daniels movie, that is nearing somewhere in the vicinity of entertainment and RAGE, another entertaining but dumb actioner). They're all stupid, but strangely agreeable. ... Read more | |

This movie is one of Gary's better ones. It has more of a plot than you normally get with a martial arts movie. There is an element of suspense above and beyond the martial arts cliche of loosely tying a bunch of fight scenes together and calling that a "plot". The plot isn't so fresh that you'll say "Wow, I never saw anything like that story before". But neither will you sit there thinking "Did this movie even have a script writer?". It should hold your attention throughout. Gary looks exceptionally beautiful here, and even shows off his impressive physique somewhat in one scene. His hair style could be a little less squared-off in the bangs, but it's hard to criticize a man who is this handsome. I'm not into martial arts per se, but I can see this one had a bit more "pizzazz" to the fight scenes than some of his other movies, so someone into martial arts will probably appreciate that aspect. There are a few "Jackie Chan" type of acrobatics to some of the fight moves, but without the usual Jackie Chan "slapstick". If you want to see what one of the most flawlessly gorgeous men looks like, this is a good DVD to check out (although I think that Gary is even prettier in some of his other movies, due to the not-particularly-flattering hair style in this one).
Disclaimer: The one time I saw "Bloodmoon" I was in an altered state of mind from a mix of wild plants and herbs and this actaully may not be the greatest action movie ever. But I sure did like when I was all messed up!

That said, this movie has a solid, if not spectacular, plot and direction. There are some fairly good actors in the production. It ain't a "hollywood blockbuster". But it also wasn't made on a shoestring budget. I understand that this movie is one in a series of similiar films, so the production company undoubtably saves money by reusing their sets and props. Maybe you don't need to see all of the movies in the series to actually have "seen" them all. But if you want to watch one to see if it's your thing, you may as well make it this one because Gary Daniels is in it. It's an "action movie" about special military ops whose job it is to penetrate a hostile environment and thwart some terrorists who obtain a nuclear device. If that movie scenario sounds like an appealing one to you, then you'll probably like this movie. There are some martial arts skills exhibited by Gary, who is well known for his abilities at such. But there is not as much as one would see in Gary's other movies. Non martial arts fans will probably enjoy the fight scenes because of his skills, and may find it a welcome improvement over the typical fight scenes you see in these sorts of movies (ie, clumsy, unskilled fighters badly faking punches). Martial arts fans will probably be disappointed that they don't get to see Gary show off more. You probably don't expect much in the way of character development from this movie, and you won't get it. There is a hint of some potential romantic interest between a female lead and Gary, but that is unfortunately not explored. (When are producers going to figure out that you don't put a guy with Gary Daniels' sex appeal in a movie and then not exploit that?) She even chooses another guy over Gary later on. (Yeah right. Like that's believable).
If your wanting to see a great Gary Daniels movie, get "Hawk's Vengeance", the acting in this movie isn't bad at all, and the plot is good. MC

That's kung fu actor Gary Daniels on the cover giving it his standard petulant macho So what? stare, looking like the little boy lost version of Clint Eastwood. But throughout the film he's got Fabio's golden tresses marcelled with Louis XV curls that drift before his eyes and flutter hither tither (whether in action or still)--reminded me of the coiff reserved only for abused good girls in movies by flesh merchant Andy Sidaris. Credit the production company's hairdresser for providing some, if annoying, distraction from this sad bad movie. In a kung fu movie the story and acting are less important. "Full Impact" is true to form with its second rate story and third rate acting. Acting? All the women are good looking and well-built--after all, the movie is set in LA. Except for Gary Daniels the male actors could have been drinking buddies (one actor playing a nerd in this movie reprises his role, but with 'ludes, in "Cold Harvest") of the producer and I bet the guy who plays the police captain is someone's brother-in-law--he demonstrates just how difficult it can be to read a line before a camera. When he, as police captain in his own office, yells "Quiet. Quiet" no one responds, but maybe they forgot he is playing the commanding officer. The director and co-producer of "Full Impact", Jimmy Huey, can learn a lot from Andy Sidaris who knows how to package a film with challenged acting and potted script--he concentrates on production value and the fleshy aspects of his best-looking mannekins. But a good kung fu movie delivers fast-paced, balletic or gymnastic action. "Full Impact" fails there too despite, incredibly, being choreographed by Gary Daniels himself. The fights look pre-WWF when fans of the 3 Stooges could have defended themselves with the semifore hand-to-nose maneuver. The final drag-out fisticuffs required that Gary be bested 6 times so that the bad guy could run away to another cheap set (actually a parking lot and then different areas of a warehouse) and most of this happened after the bad guy had been hit hard by Gary--not with his fist, but with an old car! And that is another problem with the fighting. Gary has got this guy completely outclassed, but has to use a car and a torch when the bad guy is limited to using his hands. Maybe Gary forgot the Bruce Lee code. Maybe it was Gary's way of demonstrating how pissed off he was. Maybe he is the opposite of Samson--this part of the story having been cut by the inept editor Steve Austin--that the longer Gary's hair grows the weaker he is. Low production values added to the drudgery. Not only was the DVD grainy as a videotape, but in a one scene the set swayed unintentionally behind the actors (camera looked handheld while walking). Perhaps "Full Impact" was produced for sale to hotels for their adult channels. I read that the major hotel chains are the biggest purveyors of adult movies and that the average viewing time is 15 minutes. I am not sure which I regret more: having spent $5 to buy the movie or having spent more than 15 minutes watching it.

This is definitely an odd movie for Gary. Gary is known for his martials arts skills, and therefore is typically in a movie where those skills are showcased. Here, he plays a character that doesn't even know how to fight. This is not a martial arts movie, but rather, a sci-fi movie. Even if you forget about the fact that it's not a typical Daniels movie, and gauge it just as a sci-fi movie, it's still a bit odd. The plot, and the movie's direction, are somewhat offbeat and jarring. (For example, I'm into sci-fi, but can't recall ever seeing in another movie something like the "dark shadow" in Spoiler. It's just weird. And the sudden disappearance of 20 years out of the main character's life is most jarring). It is also very depressing subject matter. This is definitely not a "feel-good" movie and has a very, very dark look and feel all the way through. Star Wars, it ain't. Watch this movie if you're into dark sci-fi. It was too dark for me. More than any other movie of his to date, Gary gets an opportunity to act and stretch beyond his usual, constraining role of a revenge-seeking martial arts fighter. And he does well. Clearly, he took the part to prove he could do more, and he can. Despite the relentless pummeling he gets, Gary looks remarkable in several scenes. (How can a guy this beautiful be unappealing to the eye?). There is one scene of him pumping iron shirtless, to showcase his outstanding physique. There's no love interest at all, which is a total waste of this man's looks, but then, given the subject matter, it makes sense to exclude it. But mostly, you'll want to watch this movie only if you like very dark sci-fi.
It's clear to see that this movie was made on a budget,. but for those of us who like budget films, this one ia true gem. British action hero Gary Daniels is at his best, mixing comedy with some very good acting. This movie shall have every Gary Daniels fan, well and truly spoiled!

Sorry, but this movie is a turkey that wouldn't fly even if Frank Perdue were running after it with an axe. It is so low-budget that it appears the producer could not afford to buy a plot. It consists mostly of very darkly lit martial arts fight scenes interspersed with snippets of pointlessly meandering dialogue whose only purpose seems to get some "unknowns" their Screen Actor's Guild union cards. It's like watching Wrestlemania from the 100th row of some dark stadium, but without the benefit of dry ice smoke and shooting fireworks to alert you to the end of one fight, and start of the next. The "acting" and "script" is so turgidly bad that it sounds like the director woke the cast up at 4 AM after all had an evening of intense alcohol consumption, shoved a camera in front of their yawning faces, and made them improvise their lines with ear muffs on so that they couldn't hear what their fellow "actors" were saying. David Carradine is listed in the credits, but he appears sporadically and randomly, and spends the majority of his time yelling into a phone at some subordinate. (I think that the director may have been filming David cursing at his agent for making him take this role). The DVD video quality is poor -- dark, murky, and grainy as if it was a copy from a VHS tape forceably inserted into, and "played" upon, a Sony Betamax machine. It has no special features, no closed captioning, no languages other than english. It does have scene selection, but this movie is so bad that the only scene you'd want to select is the ending credits. Ok, one good thing about it: It has Gary Daniels in it. Unfortunately, it has Gary with a pony tail and bad split ends. I guess that the producer couldn't have afforded to spend $5 sending Gary to the mall for a haircut, because that would have consumed the entire music budget which sounds like it consisted of purchasing a 1970's vintage Kraftwerk 33 1/3 vinyl LP recording and playing it on a turntable that has 16 RPM. Gary is a whole lot prettier in his other movies (and his looks have improved with age -- he's more muscular and his facial features are more handsome now than in this early movie), so skip this one unless you like pain and your dentist's drill doesn't do it for you any more. ...
