5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most favorite love story I ever saw
Personally, I enjoy this film whenever I see it that I bought a copy for myself. It has an unlikely twist. You have this Hispanic widower(Rodriguez) raising his son with his brothers, battling dirty landlords, immigration issues, stereotypes, and the whole nine yards. He runs into a guy who hands him a check and the story runs from there. why I consider it a beautiful love story is due to the underplot with Juan and the Immigration lady(Polly Draper). Why I love it so much is because despite the stuff that Juan went through, he always had a dream, and he kept his head up no matter what. And he was a good father for his son. I just happened to catch this movie on cable some years back, and I became hooked. Hope you will too.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun
i ran into this movie one day in 1995 at the video store well luckilly i rented it. i love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best yet underrated movies there is.
I saw this movie a couple of years ago, and loved it from the start. I forgot about it until I was checking out movies and all and start to looking for it. But if you ever felt like giving up, and you need a serious boost, well, this is the movie to see. here you have this man who was born in this country, but had no proof, then he lived in this slum of an apartment, worked as best as he could, and he gets a windfall of a million dollars that he had to give back after thirty days. It caused poor Juan problems upon problems, but in the end, he really triumphs. See, I always feel that we always will have obstacles, but what we do with them is the key. Now, as far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best films ever made. but, it probably wasn't so popular because it didn't hold the interest with sex, drugs, violence. But, this movie is a gem. many kudos to Paul Rogriguez and cast for this film.

5-0 out of 5 stars A sweet kind gentle film
I saw a Million to Juan, and I thought it was one of the most sweetest films I have ever seen. It was about a family that needed Hope and was givin an oppertunity to prove to the world that they deserve happiness. Its a movie that makes me smile. Its one to see is you are having a bad day:) I personaly have seen it 12 times.... I hope that you enjoy it!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars When In Rome- when are MK & A not cool?
The plot in this movie is very silly, but nevertheless entertaining. Their clothes are adorable, the boys are adorable, it is somewhat educational, and very appropriate for any age. Mary-Kate & Ashley deserve much credit for keeping their story lines appropriate, but not totally juvenile. The movie is really cute and makes you want to go to Rome! Paolo is especially entertaining with his...interesting...english accent that is very haha so and there are some silly momentos. I definatly recommend this movie for anyone like 7-15 so please buy it! You will not be dissapointed! :)

3-0 out of 5 stars hmm....
Yes, I am a fan of Mary Kate and Ashley and so of course I got this DVD. The movie was all right--certainly nothing outstanding, but fun enough to watch a few times if you really like the Olsens. After watching this, however, I am thinking that maybe the girls' biggest problem with their movies is putting everything together. Their ideas are good but they're all over the place. Ok, so the movie synopsis says that the Olsens' characters (Charli and Leila) get fired from their internships in Rome and are determined to find out why. But when they get fired, they put on the so-sad act for about three minutes and then they're all of a sudden completely ok, enjoying themselves in Rome with cute guys and the whole ordeal. They certainly don't act like two girls who just got unfairly fired. It just isn't put together very well. And who is going to believe that these real-life 16-year-old girls are portraying college interns???? I'm sorry, but this is one of the craziest things the Olsens have done. You can't be a 16-year-old pretending to be 20 in a movie. It just doesn't work. The girls are pretty mature and levelheaded in this movie, but they still don't pass for college girls jetting off to Rome for an internship.

Like I said, the movie is pretty good and Mary-kate's romance story is really sweet in it, and the video shots that they got of Rome are beautiful, but if you've seen the formula of Mary Kate and Ashley's movies (wild and trendy names, the newest fashions, cute boys, etc...), know that "When In Rome" is pretty much based upon the same lines. I will say that they're more grown up and mature than ever here; they're beautiful girls who seem to be growing up more and more with each movie that they film, and they're not quite as annoying as they were in movies like "Winning London" and "Getting There." So basically, they're growing up a lot, but everything else is pretty much the same as you've seen in their other videos. If you like that, then by all means go for this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well,....
I live in Republic of Korea.
so my english grammar has so many problems/¤±/;
please understand it.
Well, I have many Mary kate Ashley's Video.
It is helpful when I studied English listening
but this is same style of Mk Ash. (ex ;holiday in the sun , winning london)
I want to MK & Ash are act different style movies!
but I think it is helpful to Asian for study listening.
especially I offer this video to Korean.

I'd rather buy passport to paris.
It is funny then When in Rome.

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit disapointing but still mary-kate and ashley style
This is another one of those perfect mary-kate and ashley movie.s It was a bit boring this time but it helps pass a rainy sunday. I would say it's a great movie for MK&A fans but otherwise, don't watch it. -Tanya Dzekon

5-0 out of 5 stars The Movie That Defined a Generation
When in Rome do what young billionaire semi-socialites do. Buy, buy, buy it. In this epic tale the Olson twins decide to buy Rome and turn it into San Francisco (or as I like to call it: the set of the best series ever to be on television- Full House). Hilarity and tomfoolery abound when the twins decide to start their own gladiator competition. Things get out of hand when DJ has to fight a tiger to the death, and receives an infection from a tiger bite. Who could possibly save the day? Uncle Joey of course. He always was the funniest man on television (sorry Danny Tanner!!). I would definitely recommend this DVD to my friends and enemies alike. That means you Peter, that means you!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time
The only thing scary about this movie is the time i took to watch it.My grandma watch's better soap operas on tv.

3-0 out of 5 stars Vampires aren't the only ones who drink blood
A beautiful-looking but disturbing film about a dark fetish.

A young woman is looking for a room to rent and finds one for a low price. After moving in, her landlord, who looks like Deneuve in The Hunger, tells her that she likes to drink blood on occasion and it is simpler if she drinks that of her tenant. It is not required and she will not be forced, but it is simpler.

The tenant is immediately turned off by the idea, but is has been planted in her psyche. While exploring the house she finds a small shrine and the razor blade used for letting blood. The idea is no longer as bad as before.

Eventually she gives her OK and is cut and drunk from. She feels a closeness she has not felt before. She enjoys the feeling that she is needed. Unfortunately she gets hooked. Now she begins to pressure her landlord into drinking more.

The psycho drama continues until the tenant becomes a drinker as well as the two feast off of the landlords semi-boyfriend. Now both woman are looking for a donor and we get a cameo by Julie Strain.

Dark and beautiful, but many will find the subject disturbing in is portrayal and believability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Morbid Deep Sensual Experience!
I honestly have to defend this movie! I admit the acting wasn't the best in the world but i found it very interesting. It takes you to a place were most films dare to go. These two women were not real vampires the were two women that had a blood fetish. Celia is looking for a place to live but she got a little something extra! Premise of story Celia moves in, Whitney lets her know that in order to live there she has to let her suck on her. Celia mulls this decision over and decides, Well? What the Hell! Celia gets addicted and obcessed with Whitney after the blood drinking and a sexual encounter with her. Celia gets jealous of the boyfriend because she feels he is coming between her and Whitney. Celia goes on a rampage to reclaim Whitney from him. Basically that is the Premise of the story...by the way Celia (Played by Leslie Danon)is an extremley sexy/gorgious female a plus for the film! The music in the film is excellent, there is a song by Acid Reign called "Restore" That is very reminisent to some of Tricky's earlier work. Also the lesbian scene is very nicely filmed...Well worth the purchase! The acting would put you in the mind of a David Lynch movie..there is alot of nonchalantness going on. I am not a blood drinker but something turned me on about this movie!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
This movie has no plot, poor acting, and is not a true vampire film. It's just a couple girl roomates who have a blood fetish, cut each other with razors, and drink blood from each other. This movie is a complete waste of time unless you too have a blood fetish and enjoy watching people drink from each other.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dull, not at all scary
Movie about mentally messed up women, not horror. Unpleasant ending, all women end up looking bad. Painful to watch at times. Waste of money. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
It's always a pleasure to watch John Savage and this movie is no exception. He plays a Hollywood director who's desperate to rekindle his career. So desperate that he would do almost anything, including destroying the only thing he has left: his home. Unfortunately for him, more and more people get wind of his deed and now everybody wants a piece of the action.

Unfortunately the DVD does not have a lot of extras. Only two: a picture gallery and the electronic press kit. Although John Savage has not been interviewed for the press kit, it's well worth watching for the comments of the other actors and the director. The picture quality of the DVD was not very good, but I might just have gotten a flawed copy.

Burning Down the House is a low budget independent movie and will not be to everybody's taste, but if you like black off-the-wall comedies go for it. ;-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable black comedy
Anything with the great John Savage catches my eye. Here he plays an out of work film director who ends up desperately burning down his home to finance his next project. Film has some very funny moments wrapped around the desperation of the characters. Arye Gross is also particularly funny (and a cameo by Mick Fleetwood). I would describe the film as a low budget version of "The Player". Not perfect but worth a look. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Is there anything that Anthony Michael Hall *can't* do?!
I am speechless! Wait no I'm not! I love this movie! It is hysterical! I loved everything about it! AMH is brilliant! You have to love the story and the man can actually sing. If you love some of the songs in the film like "What U Feel" (the song you hear over and over again in the film) and "Crazy World" then look around to find AMH's album, (Oh yes, he has an album out) It's called Hall of Mirrors: Welcome to the Hall of Mirrors, and it features those tracks as well as others that just rock! I love the little things in this film! Like the jail scene! When Julius is in the jail cell with Judd Nelson and the two others, take a look behind them to see what is written on the wall. It says " A.M.H. + BUBBA " I almost fell off my seat when I saw that! It's just the little things tossed into each scene that makes this film a classic for me! Watch the little smirks AMH tosses around, or those blues bug out every once in a while. Robert Downey Jr. gives a very funny performance. You have to love seeing Downey Jr. and AMH back together again. They had such great chemistry in Johnny Be Good, it's great to see them together. They work so well off of each other, ever watch the two on SNL in the 80's?! Okay, I am done rambling! Buy this film! Find AMH's album, kick it to track one, "What U Feel", crank it to maximum volume and shake the neighborhood! If you are looking for a ridiculous film to watch, a movie to just make you laugh..this is the movie for you! From: bethy_the_amh_fan

4-0 out of 5 stars Hail Caesar.... Hail Anthony Michael Hall!!!!!!!
Okay, so this isn't 16 Candles or the Breakfast Club... BUT it is still very entertaining for your die hard AMH fan.... I thought it had an interesting story and some good and tame humor... ****NUTS... sure.... Plus believe it or not, I really thought he did a good job at singing and his catchy little tunes... OH ,YO, OH , YO... WEE YO, WEE YO.... etc... I was humming the songs for hours afterwards... Let's face it, if you dig AMH, then you will enjoy this and SHAFT is in this, too!!!! It is worth a look-see!!!! He has a shot a singing regurlarly...

4-0 out of 5 stars Mindless Comedy- Nothing More
This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Very intelligent humor. Some silliness. It is not the kind of movie that stands up to serious scrutiny and over analyzation. It is a mindless comedy that has a "cute" story burried underneath. Anthony Michael Hall is a great comedic actor and this is a great adult role for him. The cameos by Judd Nelson, Robert Downey jr., and Samuel L. Jackson are very funny. This movie is definitely worth watching twice.

A similarly funny movie is Overnight Delivery.

3-0 out of 5 stars some very funny scenes although not a very good plot.
Anthony Michael Hall's acting seemed a bit on the choppy side, yet made the movie more hilarious. I couldn't tell if the acting was intentional or not so I can't say that it was bad, because, in a way, I thought was very funny. I couldn't have thought of a story like it if I tried, so it's very unique. I watched it several times and laughed through a lot of it. I'd like to see it again. I'd definitely recommend at least a one time viewing for anyone who hasn't seen it. ... Read more
