3-0 out of 5 stars from Fringe Video Fanzine Issue #005
A well shot, character driven film with a good story and great cast from J.R. Bookwalter, the director of the underground zombie classic The Dead Next Door (1988). A true fan of independent cinema who waved any fee to co-write, produce, direct and edit this movie, only to reinvested the money into this DVD. Annie [played by Tanya Dempsey / Hell Asylum (2002); Shrieker (1997)] fleeing an abusive relationship decides to stay with a couple of old friends Stevie [played by Debbie Rochon / Bog People (2002); Dry Rot (2002)], and Rose [played by Tina Krause / Titanic 2000 (1999); Vampire Seduction (1998)], who happen to be in the middle of shooting a documentary about real life witches and covens. After discussing the film, the three girls under the influence of alcohol decide to take part in a fake ritual. Probably not a good thing to do as they accidentally awake the spirit of Lilith [Brinke Stevens / Sideshow (2000); Slumber Party Massacre (1982)] A witch with a bad attitude, and great make-up. She begins to haunt the three girls turning them against each other, or perhaps its the abusive boyfriend "...just seeking his own personal revenge...?" This mostly female driven piece has a great twist at the end as victims and opressors switch roles. The occasional nudity shots pad out the dialogue, however are not exploitive. This special edition disc is filled with extras such as behind the scenes home movies, three commentary tracks, an interview with the very intelligent and down to earth Debbie Rochon, bloopers & outtakes, and a early J.R. Bookwalter home movie from 1979.

2-0 out of 5 stars Better than part 1 & 2, but not enough.
I bought the movie because of the enticing story synopsis but was left flat due to the cheap look of the movie. Wasn't horrible, but wasn't professional looking either. Not a waste of time though, I would recommend checking it out, just don't expect a mainstream film.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow, I was surprised!
The original Witchouse was good Full Moon fun...I didn't care for Witchouse 2...and after reading about Witchouse 3: Demon Fire, I wasn't too sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised.

This film, shot for a surprisingly paltry $26,000 is a great little horror flick.

Debbie Rochon, Tanya Dempsey, and Tina Krause play three friends who are being haunted by an unseen figure after doing a mock witchcraft ritual for a documentary. There's quite the little mystery that ensues and some very eerie and interesting things happen to them. Turns out it's that sassy Lilith, the wacky witch from the first two movies, back with a vengeance. The movie does throw a lot of surprises at you...you never really are sure what's going to happen next. The story holds together cohesively, the acting is superb (it really feels like the three leads have been best buds for years, and they are all very fleshed out characters with their own personalities), and everything snaps along at a very nice pace.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who like witch movies (this is MUCH better than "The Craft"), or just horror in general. The gore is kind of light in this one, but everything else in the movie more than makes up for that.

The DVD offers a few nice extras too (including widescreen and Dolby 5.1 surround sound)...it's a very good deal! Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Witch is back...Again!
Well, J.R. Bookwalter does another terrific job making a Non-Sequel to the 1999 Full Moon hit, Witchouse.

With the exceptional work he did on Witchouse 2: Blood Coven, to me, it only seemed appropriate that he do 3. And thank God for that.

While taking the movie out of the spooky, old mansion scene, he instead places it in a California beach house with 3 hot babes, all best friends, and a Witch names Lilith.

Now, all those, myself included, who think that Ariauna Albright should have reprised her role, really should give Brinke Steven a chance. I know I didn't in another review I had written. Brinke takes over for Ariauna as Lilith. Though the film does not center around the character of Lilith, it still manages to make a totally screwed up soap opera type movie, with horror elements that blend to make a really great Full Moon/Tempe video production.

The DVD is loaded with extras. 3 commentary tracks, bloopers, outtakes, etc...totally work the money... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hell Asylum
Sure, there's not much of a plot here and it's very short(about 65 min) but it's very well done for what it is. In my opinion this is what horror movies should be like. All horror movies are stupid, but even moreso when writers try too hard to have a good plot. Plots are not important in horror movies, especially in a b movie such as this. It's got well done gore and is entertaining to watch. Plus stacy scowley is cute.

1-0 out of 5 stars "Worst Movie I Ever Seen"
Hell Asylum to me is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.I know its low buget but still. It contained one of the worst plots ever. The computer blood was absolutly dreadful. The acting is laughable.I needed something to keep me from falling a sleep(and no i'm not joking). Its an absolute disgrace to horror. This is a perfect example of horror gone wrong. It was so boring I literally had to fast forward the talking scenes. In all my years of watching movies this would be on my worst movies ever made list.Giving this movie 5 stars or anything higher than 1 would be an outrage. Its trash like this that give low-buget movies a bad name. Please people whatever you do don't buy this garbage.I'm trying to save your money.I felt I had to review this movie to save people from what a disapointment this movie is.I sure hope you take my advice or you'll be sorry when you find out you just completely wasted your money.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Scary??
Well, this was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I enjoy renting movies that are made by Full Moon or Trimark because they're so stupid they're funny. The people that make these aweful movies actually think that they are making a horror movie, but it turns out to be a comedy. Hell Asylum or however you spell it seemed like it was going to be a stupid horror film when I started it. Mostly because of the short running time and the wide variety of cast members that would have never went on a reality TV show in the first place. C'mon! Why would a ditz that said she was afraid of everything go on a reality television show about getting scared? It's pretty sad. I'm trying to remember other bad stuff in the movie, it's just that I haven't watched it in one or two months. Well then there's the lady that is an incredibly bad actress that talks about how famous she's going to be. Then of course she has sex with the production guy just so they can show it on the trailer and get people to want to see the movie. Well....... if you want to get a laugh from a dumb horror movie, don't rent this one. Try renting House on Hunted Hill from the 60's or something.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!
I Love all of Danny Draven's work. He is a genius!

1-0 out of 5 stars Hellish viewing and not in a good way
For starters, I love independant horror films and like the work of Trent Haaga (who wrote this and made a small appearance) but there is no way in any hell asylum that I can endorse this film.

I picked up my copy as soon as it came out, mainly because I love Dead & Rotting which is a great film and the limited special edition has so many featurs that it puts to shame most major studio DVD releases. Also Hell Asylum was pushed as being "the most gory Full Moon production". Sadly I found that the film's gore entirely consisted of hooded figures eating thin entrails, that couldnot possible be confused with anything in the human anatomy, which had merely been placed on top of the actors.

The story, which could have worked under different cirumstances, is no lesser than the average horror flick and the acting isn't that bad at all ( Tanya Dempsy is cool ) but still the clumsy and extremly poorly done gore and the directors failure to capture even a split second of tension or surprise renders this production totally unwatchable.

Full Moon productions seem to have only two types of flicks: great horror films that exceed their low budget with their brillaince Dead & Rotting for example and films so baddly directed and technically clumsy that they waste the time of the viewer as well as that of all involved. Witchhouse 3 for example had Debbie Rochon, Tina Crause and Tanya Dempsy all in starring roles and got some hype and 'generous' reviews but isn't worth a single watch, it's just that amazingly flawed. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the $$$$
Pretty cool film about strippers. Gives insight into the industry and especially the dancers. All the dancers in the movie are pretty hot (redhead, blondes and brunettes, oh my!). The best is Ashlyn Gere and Amy Lynn Baxter from Howard Stern fame. There are extras on this dvd of them doing oil shows, shower shows and dancing. The film is one hour plus all the extras (probably another 30 minutes of just nakedness). The other film on the dvd is a (...) flick which is actually quite amusing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top notch Entertainment
I liked this DVD quite a bit. My girl was thinking about dancing so I picked it up for her. In addition to the hot girls it is also pretty interesting. Lots of inside info on dancing. The women are all great looking. Amy Lynn from Penthouse and Howard Stern is absolutely unbeleivable. She is without a doubt one of the hottest girls I've ever seen. There are extra features on the DVD that shows her showering and doing an oil show which is HOT! There are all kinds of other girls too from big chest to small to redhead to blonde to brunette, etc. The 6 "extras"on the DVD are worth the price alone. There is also another movie on the DVD which isn't bad either if you like T&A. I recommend this DVD highly. I don't know what the hell the other guy is talking about except that he is right that the directors are Leonard and Donellan and not Taylor. Basically, if you like strippers then get this movie. Peace.

1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING
DO NOT BUY THIS DVD if you want "In the Flesh" directed by Ben Taylor. This is not his very fine gay movie, but a heterosexual romp of 48" bimbos. If, on the other hand, you like big blond bimbos, go for it. Unfortunately, AMAZON has not corrected their description, so both gay and straight audiences are misinformed.

3-0 out of 5 stars In The Flesh (2001) d: Donnellan, Sean K. & Michael Leonard
An interesting documentary centering on really good-looking topless dancers both on and off the stage of New York's hottest strip clubs. Everything you've ever wanted to learn from a dancer and much more. An in-depth look at both their night jobs, and personal lives. Topics range from drug use, to how they feel about taking money. Not only is this an excellent source of entertainment for those who like women in the nude, or learning about their favorite dancer. In The Flesh would also make interesting viewing for feminists, cultural studies students, or married women looking to find out just what the hell goes on in these clubs any-ways. Features: Ashlyn Gere (Adult Superstar and Penthouse Pet), and Amy Lynn (Penthouse Pet, Howard Stern Show favorite). Also for Amy Lynn fans, Seduction Cinema have also added a not-so-hot, yet watch-able short independent "good guys vs. bad guys" crime film by Zachary Winston Snygg called Blood Bullets Buffoons, which features erotic dancer Amy Lynn Baxter "...as a deadly and delectable leader of a Russian crime gang". After seeing the bonus footage of Amy Lynn covering herself in baby oil, then taking an on stage shower you'll know why she gets top billing on this DVD. Great Stuff ... Read more
