Uneven, but definitely another side of Martin Lawrence
Well, I think Martin Lawrence is a funny actor. I won't compare him to an under rated version of Eddie Murphy like most people do, since I don't think he is. He has his own style, his own way to act etc...and the mere fact that they both star in comedy movies is not that relevant to me.

Anyway I knew this movie would be slightly different from what Lawrence has done in the past. This time it would be a blending of comedy and thriller, something more personal, maybe because he wrote the screenplay and directed the movie. So I watched it trying to stay away from any prejudices and to enjoy it for what it is. I found the movie very uneven. The real plot took way too long to come up. Indeed, the first part trying to settle Lawrence's character and personality is way too long compared to the time left to the plot development and realization, which obviously leads to shortcuts and great haste when it comes to the real story. The goal of the movie, the real aim is therefore not reached entirely, for the comedy part of the movie maybe stole a lead over the drama or thriller part. It was indisputably interesting to try catching another 'usually hidden' side of Martin Lawrence, as a director, a writer trying to deal with something different from what he usually does, but this time it was not that big of a success. Let's not be too harsh there for it may be new to him, and I'm sure we'll see more from him in that field very soon, but I would not rank this movie as a must-see one. I watched it cause I really wanted to discover something new about Lawrence, and in a way I saw some good first steps, but somehow the intention outmatched the means and the way Lawrence handled the making and construction of his work.

But as you can see, this is not a 'Don't go watch this movie' kind of message, it is just a personal view of it. You should try this movie anyway, cause you'll see or at least guess what Martin Lawrence could do with a little more experience and writing discipline.

A cross between "Fatal Attraction" and "Boomerang"
Mixing the formula from Eddie Murphy's "Boomerang" (a player gets played) and Michael Douglas' "Fatal Attraction" (guy is stalked by heartsick ex-lover) plays well here, but I thought the subject matter was a bit too heavy to be considered a comedy, even a dark one, especially during the climax of the movie. I liked this film, though, because I love Martin Lawrence. Della Reese is great as Martin's mom.

A funny dark comedy
This is funny. Martin Lawrence is hilarious. I loved when his car windows were broken in front of the police station. How funny.

Fun movie
I thought this movie was a mix of Boomerang and Fatal Attraction. It had a nice cast (Martin Lawerence, Lynn Whitfield, Bobby Brown (small role, but he did his thing), Regina King). Ladies man gets caught up when he plays the wrong woman, and becomes a victim of her revenge. The movie is not super great, but it was a fun movie. There are parts that will make you laugh.

Love means never having to say, "I'm Psycho..."
...one day a bright young playa decides to go for the creme de la creme. An older lady with a little more style and a little more $ than the average club hopper. But see, the playa's kinda hung up on the lady who left him behind for the armed forces. Soldier girl shows up right in the middle of his playa antics with the classy dame and he finds out it ain't easy pulling the plug. That's where the cheese hits the fan. Martin's prat falls in response to Lynn Whitfield's evil woman scorned, starts out a bit funny, then it gets serious. Way too serious. Like, downright too real. WOOHOO!
I never would have seen this movie if it didn't air on direct tv 20 times a day. I kept seeing pieces of it and it was enough to keep my interest. What I found is Woo is actually a funny and entertaining movie. I think Jada is sassy and smart so there! Tommy Davidson is great in this movie too and yes there is some cinematic chemistry here, it keeps u interested in their relationship. It is lighthearted and fun entertainment with some kewl music too. I laughed, I cried, i taped it!

Woo-Wee
I absolutely love this movie!!! My husband and I can watch this movie everyday and still continue to laugh as if it was our first time watching it. We can't wait for it to come out on DVD in January.
For anyone looking to laugh this is a must see.

A waste of film
I'm sorry, but this movie was NOT good at all. There were some moments where I chuckled, but this movie really was WOOOOOOO TERRIBLE. Wait for it to come on TV.

Trippin
This movie was all that and a bag of chips. It had me laughing from start to finish. If you were a daydreamer back in school, you'll love this. If you weren't a daydreamer in school, you'll love this. Watching young teen Greg live most of his life in a dream world is priceless. And then dealing with family and friends in the real world, well you just gotta see this for yourself. I'd give it 3 thumbs up if I had three.

His "trippin" moments were hilarious and anyone who didnt like this film probably thought that the Nutty Professor and its boring sequel were funny.

When Leta (Melissa De Sousa) gets a job as an assistant to a big-time rap video director, she doesn't realize her duties will consist of chaperoning a bus full of would-be rap stars from Harlem. It was alright but nothin' special
I thought the movie would be really fun to watch I mean CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER & BERNIE MAC and on top of that FREDRO STARR & MALIK YOBA.
All the people I mention did great work, but the movie it self weren't that well-written and couldv'e been much better however it was a pretty funny movie.
I bought the European Version and missed out on the 4 musicvideos that are as a bonus in the american edition and that pissed me off a little.

The soundtrack is better than the movie, but the movie is still o.k. if u don't pay too much for it.

GREAT MUSIC
Though the movie was very predictable, the music was great! Some of the storyline was so stupid it actually made it funny. Again clearly the star was the music of DUNN PEARSON!!

The most ridiculously stupid movie
A movie with a so called "righteous black man" and some students he takes to Florida the possibility of making in entertainment only in the end to buy into the sterotype of black entertainers.

Actually better then i thought
I must say when i saw this film when it was first release in theatres i didnt know what expect.. I thought just some second rate low budget comedy.. with the laughs comin at crude humour..but to my surprise the laughs were ginuwine.. they were forced like you get in some movies.. a good cast of hip hoppers, unknowns, veterans.. a Slamming Soundtrack ! made this movie very entertaining

Ok, so call me shallow, but I guess I tried to watch this movie a couple years ago, and I found it again the other day on my DVD shelf. I could not figure out how it got there or why I didn't remember much of it. Well, I figured it out pretty quickly. The female lead looks like she forgot to take off ghoul makeup and put on wrinkle cream or any other makeup. I mean seriously she looks so weathered that it pretty much ruins the movie, which otherwise is generally entertaining. I would have preferred looking at a fat lady for 90 minutes to looking at the lines all over her face.

Excellent plot, low budget?
Judgement Day is similar to Armageddon and Deep Impact, which came out around the same time in 1998-1999. But if I had to choose the best PLOT of any of the "big rock hits earth" movies, it would be Judgement Day. However, there are a few actors who just do not fit the roles they are cast in. Yet the three primary actors are Ice-T, Suzi Amis, and Mario Van Peebles. Their roles are solid and convincing.

There are about fifty dollars worth of special effects in the movie and, being a "big rock in space, hits earth" movie, that should tell you something.

If you get this, do so for the story. The plot (with minor development) is by far excellent compared to any of the other movies of this genre.
