GOOD NEWS RE: 93 v. 91 MINUTE RUNTIME: This DVD ordered from Amazon is the full, uncut 93 minute version of the film. I have seen the VHS version which is missing ~2 minutes of Nicole. That was a huge disappointment. And while the DVD case itself says the running time is 91 minutes, don't let that fool you: this movie is in its original and perfect wholeness.
I remember when this movie first came out in the theatres. It looked ridiculous then and it certainly does now. Give credit to the two Coreys, Haim and Feldman, for going against their usual goody-two-shoes pairing and delving into such decidedly sleazy material as this. And give credit to Nicole Eggert, who has an undeniable allure and does Basic Instinct, Jr. here with remarkable lack of inhibition. But do these elements make a good movie? Not really, considering Haim's watery presence as a leading man and the ridiculous characterizations and situations. Feldman fares better as a punk so sleazy that you just have to smile at his behaviour. The finale is especially wanting, a lacklustre bedroom confrontation that is strictly made-for-TV in its staging and dialogue. So all that's left is a surprisingly erotic first encounter between Eggert and Haim, some snippets of nudity, and a slightly disturbing feeling for the audience. Like the film Kids and Bully, this movie makes you into a voyeur into an explicit portrayal of teen sex lives, though unlike these two films, Blown Away is so cartoonish in execution and tone that it qualifies mostly as a conduit for the eye candy of Haim and Eggert.

It's also just a dreadfully boring movie. At just over 80 minutes long, it feels like it's twice that long. You know a movie is bad when the commentary track is more interesting than the movie itself. For those of you who read the previous reviews, and might be interested because you think you are going to see "all" of Nicole
The acting was terrible, the plot predictable and boring. The only thing that I enjoyed was this nightgown that the lead character wore, and even then it was out of place, seeming more like it was there for the "skin" and to make the character more sexy than for plot development. Edgar Allan Poe was claimed as the person who wrote the story, and he is probably rolling over in his grave, this movie is so horrible! Everything is out of place and/or ridiculous. The lead character hops into bed as soon as she falls in love, which was NOT done at that time. Nudity was frequently done to "save" the movie, but if this movie were to do that every time this movie needed a boost the characters would be nude the entire way through. Needless to say, this movie stank. If it's not worth paying 99 cents to rent it, it's not worth buying, unless you like to rag on bad movies, which it is perfect for. ... Read more

This is not for everyone. This movie is very strong, and the viewer must also be strong to not get upset but that might still happen if you are not all the way prepared. However, Charles Bronson is good so this movie is good too.
The characters in this film are either pathetic or dispicable and don't deserve the viewer's sympathy. Bronson's Lieutenant Crowe is an acerbic, manipulative cop who is just as contemptible as the rest of the cast and by the end of the movie, you wish someone would lock him up and throw away the key. "Kinjite" is a film that some will find offensive as there are a lot of religious, racial and ethnic stereotypes in this film. In light of this, I'm surprised that the movie's producers didn't receive more wide-spread condemnation. I found this movie to be nothing more than vile trash and it really deserves a zero. I would advise anyone with a modicum of decency and sensibility to avoid it. ... Read more

An interesting take on the formulaetic story following the Batman \ ROBOCop Comic book style that doesn't break new ground, but is has some interesting in jokes (Inmates reading "FANGORA" magazine, Jack Nance as a priest, etc.) If Nicole Eggert had a good script with good lines, this would have been an almost original character. How it happens, however, She is just another mundane superhero with big guns and a cool bike. Great costume and sets though. If George Clooney played the bad guy and Quentin Tarantino gave the script a once over, it may have been a better flick. But I am a mere movie geek, so I am dreaming here. To sum up, this movie deserves kudos for being made on the budget it was given, but the script and actors (Nicole Eggert and Jack Nance not included) drag the movie through the mud. ... Read more
