5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Horror Movie of all Time
I personally feel that this is one of the greatest horror movie made. Forget all of that blood and guts and popping out of the bushes to scare people. That fear only lasts for a second...This movie plays with your mind and lasts forever. Nothing is scarier than polite Miss Rhoda Penmark.
This movie contains brilliant direction and an amazing cast. Many people feel that the acting is overdone and that they act like they are still in the stage version, entertaining an audience in a theater but that is the way it was meant to be made. Making it look like a regular movie would ruin the essence of the evil, 8-year old killer. Nancy Kelly is truly amazing as Christine. Her "breakdown" scenes are heart wrenching and done very well. She is most-natural and does a wonderful job in playing a woman going through the delemma of whether or not she should hate or love her daughter. Her performance is beautiful, "She killed him! But she's my little girl...and I love her!". The highlight of her acting is when Rhoda just kills one of her victims (I won't say who) and Rhoda is playing the song she always plays on the piano faster and faster and faster. It is such and amazing scene. She deserved the Tony she won during the play and the Oscar nomination. Now, there is Patty McCormack who is definatly chilling in this role. Her perfect smile is just as scary as her evil ways. When she describes the way she killed the little boy I always shudder ,"But he told me that he was going to tell on me...SO I HIT HIM WITH MY SHOES AGAIN!! I hit him harder that time." After the scene where she confesses her murders and Christine tells Rhoda to throw her shoes down the incinerator, the shot of Rhoda's sillouette tossisng the shoes while Christine just sits in the backround and watches with fear, as Rhoda smiles, brings chills down my spine. Her acting gets an A+ and she also deserved the Oscar nomination as well as Kelly. Another, nominated for an Oscar for her role, was Eileen Heckart for the role of (which I think is one of the greatest characters in theatrical history)Mrs. Dagel..the grieving mother of one of Rhoda's vicitms. Although only appearing in two scenes, she makes just as big of an impact as Christine and Rhoda do. Heckart is brilliant in the role and it would be almost imposible to find someone who could do as good of a job as she did. Her beautiful monolougues are truly amazing and heartfelt. Other great performances are that of Henry Jones, the creepy Leroy who is the only one who realizes that Rhoda is evil, Evelyn Varden, as the housekeeper, Monica, who spoils Rhoda terribly, Miss Fern (I can't quite think of her name), as the teacher at The Fern School, and Christine's father (I can't think of his name now either), who is a former mystery writer with a big secret that he is keeping from Christine, which has to do with why Rhoda is a bad seed, something inside of Christine that she passed down to her daughter.

There is a lot of controversy over the ending curtain call and the happy spank that Christine lays on Rhoda. I feel that the curtain call and spanking gives the audience a sese of relief since the movie is so disturbing.
I reccomend this movie to everyone that can handle a plot that is different and disturbing.
Don't blame Rhoda for her murderous acts. It isn't her falt, she is just a bad seed.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE PERFECT LITTLE GIRL.....
Based on the famous Broadway play, "The Bad Seed" should be just fine on DVD. This chiller about the "perfect" Rhoda Penmark with her long blonde braids and cold, cold heart stars most of the play's cast---Patty McCormack as Rhoda, Nancy Kelly as her mother, Henry Jones as Leroy the apartment handyman and Eileen Heckart as the mother of one of Rhoda's schoolmates. While her pilot husband is away, Mrs.Penmark begins to suspect there's something wrong with her perfect little girl. You bet there is, she's a cold-blooded killer! As Rhoda's list of victims grows, so does her mother's terror as she begins piecing together the clues and facts. The film, shot in stark black & white, appears stagy but this works fine because it's all about the performances. They're brilliant. Mervyn LeRoy allows the characters to remain like they were on stage for maximum impact. The only complaint, Hollywood tacked on a dumb second ending to allow the characters their bows and to say "See? This was only a movie!" because in 1956 the subject matter (and original climax and ending) was quite shocking. But the film is still a classic of it's kind and very much a must see for those who havn't seen it. Watch for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars a little blonde classic monster
I have seen this movie so many times, and it just keeps getting better as time goes by. Little Patty Mcormick is execlent as Rhoda Penmark and the chemistry she has with Nancy Kelley and Henery Jones is beyoned words. I get chills when I see the scene where she confronts Leroy about giving back her shoes!!!
Its about time this classic is comming out to DVD

3-0 out of 5 stars A Basket Of Kisses.......
Over the years, there have been so many female villains, it's easy to lose track. Anne Baxter(ALL ABOUT EVE), Ann Blyth(MILDRED PIERCE), Joan Bennett(SCARLET STREET), Bette Davis(THE LITTLE FOXES to name one of many), Gene Tierney(LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN), the list goes on. But I think they all would have been more a little unnerved to get in the way of Rhoda Penmark. This movie is one that is so impish in it's own delight, it's impossible not to smile & go along for the ride. Originally a play, the film does tend to lose it's strength with all the psychobabble & it does occasionally get caught up in it's own pretentiousness, but fear not. For any & every minute that Rhoda(played to the absolute hilt by Patty McCormack)is on the screen, you BAD SEED virgins out there will wonder how this film is unknown to you.
Nancy Kelly delivers what would have to be one of the most over-the-top performances in the history of cinema as Rhoda's unsuspecting mother & Evelyn Varden's overbearing landlady, Monica, chews enough scenery to last a lifetime. But it's all about Rhoda. Evil, ruthless, determined, selfish, sweet, & yes, at times, loving. The sheer joy of watching this film is being secure in the knowledge that no matter how sweet this girl is to those around her, unlike us, & eventually her Mother, she's got them fooled.
Nancy Kelly was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her work here & both Miss McCormack & Eileen Eckhart(as the mother of one of Rhoda's victims)scored Supporting nods. Nobody makes films like this anymore..and why? Nobody could.......

2-0 out of 5 stars The Play's the Thing!
The stage version of "The Bad Seed" was brilliant with an equally brilliant ending.
The movie is much too stagey, a bit too Broadwayesque in its presentation, that is, practically filming a stage show with all its limitations, including the stage-acting..a tad pompous. Except for Patty McCormack, the other characters should have been re-cast. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I DARE YOU NOT TO CRY YOUR EYES OUT
Brian's Song is one of the saddest movies ever made, based on the too-true story of the black/white friendship between Gale Sayer and Brian Piccolo. James Caan does a credible, if self-absorbed job as Brian -- his sickly scenes definitely do not hold up as well as you might remember, and though this movie definitely looks and sounds dated, it still packs a powerful emotional punch, in the same way that Terms of Endearment does. Beware: you are headed for very rough waters. And that Michel Legrand theme song, a classic for the ages, turns the nozzle to full-tilt. That final still image remains firmly etched in my mind, and the special relationship engendered here carries a special weight as one of the first of its kind ever seen in a film.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXTRAORDINARY...
I was fifteen years old when "Brian's Song" premiered as a "Movie of the Week" on ABC-TV. I had no interest in sports then (I still don't), and had no intentions of watching this movie, but my dad persuaded me. "Just watch the first few minutes," he said. He knew that this was NOT a sports movie. He had read Gale Sayers' book "I Am Third" (upon which this movie is partially based), and knew that this was a movie about PEOPLE, not about football. The fact that the two lead characters are football players is almost incidental. This is a movie about friendship, love and courage. Needless to say, I watched it from start to finish, and have watched it many times since. Although its roots as a TV movie are obvious (the production values are nothing more than ordinary), "Brian's Song" is one of the most extraordinary films ever made, a particularly remarkable achievement when you consider its length of only 74 minutes. James Caan and Billy Dee Williams, both virtual unknowns at the time, play Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers with a sense of realism, and with respect for their real-life counterparts. Jack Warden is excellent (as always) as coach George Halas, and Shelley Fabares and Judy Pace turn in fine performances as Joy Piccolo and Linda Sayers. David Huddleston and Bernie Casey make the most of their small parts, and even real-life Chicago Bears provide some fine moments, particularly the "hazing" sequence. The sincere performances, along with William Blinn's beautifully-written teleplay, keep the action from becoming mawkish or sappy, Buzz Kulik's direction brought out the best in his actors, and Michel Legrand's score comments on the emotions in the film with exactly the right tone. (Legrand's penchant for marking musical cues to sudden movement onscreen is notable, and the gorgeous theme is one of the most emotionally charged pieces of music ever written.) The film ends on a freeze-frame of James Caan's face over narration by Jack Warden of William Blinn's words, and when that musical theme pulls out all the stops after Warden's narration ends, well...even the Chicago Bears themselves would be dissolved in tears. It's one of my all-time favorite movies, and I would recommend it without reservation to anyone, sports fan or not. Thanks, Dad.

The DVD version includes an exclusive short featurette, "Gale Sayers: First and Goal" in which present-day Gale Sayers discusses the movie and his career. It's interesting, but nothing special. Also included in audio commentary by Williams and Caan. Caan is a cutup and does most of the talking, and little of any real substance is said, but it IS quite entertaining, and definitely worth another viewing.

But then, "Brian's Song" is ALWAYS worth another viewing...

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most emotional and best stories of all time
I'm a huge sports fan. I want to be a sports writer and it's stuff that Brian's Song that makes me want to do it even more.

Brian's Song is based on the true story of Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers. Both were rookies when they joined the Chicago Bears. Brian Piccolo(Caan) was the funny loudmouth that everybody loved. He wans't the most gifted athlete in the world and his determination made him the player that he was. Gale Sayers(Williams) was the quiet one. He was the easily the most talented player on the team maybe in the league. The two are paired as roomates and the friendship starts.

The two are opposites and don't get along that well at first. Opposites attract and they especially do with these two. They quickly feed off each other though and become the best of friends. They fuel each other and are inspeperable. They become the first white and black roomates in the NFL. They ignore the whole idea of race and are like brothers.

When Sayers tears his ACL the next year Brain gets the chance to step up and show his talent. He however feels for his friend and is determined to get Gale back into his form as the best RB in the league. There bond becomes even stronger during this time as does the friendship of there families.

The tide changes though when Brian starts not to play well. It's a new season and the two are enjoying finally playing with each other as one of the best backfields in the league. Brians play starts to diminsh though and he's sent to the doctor. What the doctor finds is that Brian has cancer and is terminal. It's now up to Gale to help his friend through this most difficult time of his life.

This movie isn't about football. It's about the bond of love and friendship that these two men have for each other. James Caan and Billy Dee Williams play these roles to perfection. Both weren't known all that well at this time in 1971. Caan hadn't delivered his legendary performance as Sonny Corleone and Wiliams hadn't played Lando yet. The two give dramatic performances though that are sure to make anybody cry.

This is one of the greatest tear jerkers of all time. I've never wathced it were a member of the audience isn't sobbing at the end of it. I've cried numerous times while watching this movie.

You can tell it's a tv made movie. It doesn't take away from the quality though and this movie cleaned the Emmy's out in 1971 and in my opinion is the greatest made for TV movie EVER!

I love this movie. It's not about sports but is about life. You won't find a better tale of love and friendship anywhere. Everybody should see this movie at one time or another. It's a cinematic masterpiece. Buy this movie you won't regret that descion.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever
I just need to say I am looking at this movie as I am writing this for about the 100th time, still with tears running down my face. I have loved this movie every since it came out when I was 10 years old. With the lost of my father the year before the movie really touched me and made my mother never want to look at it again. Then growing up with old timeer stopping me to tell me I looked so much like the real Gale Sayers made me love the movie even more. Now with what is running through my blood and not knowing what will happen to me all I can think of now is my best friend of 25 years and him standing by my side. As you can see this move has really been a part of my life almost all my life.

Elvis's outfits are impressive in 1967's Clambake, especially agroovy, belted sport coat and a cream-colored suit covered with cowhide-stylestitching. The costumes are more creative than the soundtrack, which is heavywith the mindlessness of late-period Elvis movies. As he sings "Confidence" (anobvious rip-off of the Oscar-winning "High Hopes"), you can almost see Elvisbatting out "Just shoot me" in Morse code with his eyelids. The only decent tunehas the star crooning a nice, lonesome version of the standard "You Don't KnowMe." This one's set in Florida, but with none of the scenic fun of his Hawaiipictures. He plays a rich oilman's son pretending to be a water-skiinginstructor, with Shelley Fabares (a three-time Presley costar) as the girl. Thecamp highlight is an ensemble number with go-go girls helping Elvis fix aspeedboat, which is just about as far from Sun Studios as you can get. --Robert Horton ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Where's Frankie And Annette When You Really Need Them?
I thought this would be a lighthearted comedy, in the tradition of the "Beach Blanket Bingo" movies, but I was wrong. This film is heavy on melodrama and light on comic relief. Three California surfing buddies travel to Hawaii to catch the ultimate waves at Waimea Bay. Naturally, the veteran surfers there resent them, but to such a degree that it borders on hatred. A wipeout causes damage to Fabian's surfboard, which later causes him to crash into another surfer, who is carried on to the beach with a bloody, broken nose. Another surfer gets drunk on New Year's Eve and dives off a steep waterfall, and ends up cracking some ribs. Frankie Avalon and his gang sometimes wiped out, but they never emerged from the ocean bloodied and battered. The final surfing showdown is an endurance test to determine who is the best surfer in the world. The competition goes on and on and on, becoming an endurance test for the viewer. I can sum up my feelings for this movie in two words - wipe out!

4-0 out of 5 stars Ride, ride, ride... the wild cliche!
Dudes, babes, and fabulous footage of the north shore of Hawaii, plus the classic theme song co-written by Brian Wilson and sung by Jan & Dean. This is about as good as '60s beach movies get, partly a good impersonation, part pure Hollywood fantasy, of my own childhood backdrop of surfing action in southern California and Hawaii. Dig the scenes in which the "surfers" are waiting for their waves on perfectly calm blue water on what is probably a giant studio backlot wading pool! Thrill as their doubles paddle out to attack the scary gray curls of Waimea Bay "and conquer those waves 'most thirty feet high"! Shelley Fabares and Barbara Eden are among the girls on the beach.

It's cool, buddy boy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed to get sand in your shorts!
A group of handsome, well-built, "young" board heads take a Hawaiian vacation to ride the wild surf of Hawaii. The boys fall in love within ten minutes of meeting their bikini-clad, beautiful female groupies who reluctantly watch as surf bum beaus risk life and limb in the unpredictable waves. Never a swear word is uttered and everything has a happy ending. Barbara Eden plays the spunky "Augie Poole," the original party girl who brings lots of laughs to the show.

There is no doubt that this is that rare film that is fun for the whole family to watch. The scenic footage of the Hawaiian islands is beautiful. The scripts are corny and the acting enthusiastic, but overall a fun film to watch. Although the actors played the parts well, they seemed a little bit too old (thirty-something) to play the proverbial beach-boy-in-college scene. But ten minutes into the show, we're too caught up in the undertow to care about trivial things like time and age!

5-0 out of 5 stars Ride, ride, ride, the wild surf...
Campy, campy, campy, campy, campy ! Great nostalgic film . Sometimes when I watch it I think, "man, this movie didn't age well " and then other times I think, "who cares! This is a fun movie !" Far better than most of the stuff that Hollywood has been trying to pawn off on us for years .

5-0 out of 5 stars Ride The Wild Surf
In 1964 three friends went to the show to see a surf movie for the first time. We returned to see this movie over and over again, (7 times to be exact). Being young and impressionable we wanted to be like Fabian, Tab Hunter, and Peter Brown riding Big Waves in Hawaii and falling in "Love" with girls like Susan Hart, Shelley Fabares and Barbara Eden. This movie made our summer of '64 a fantasy summer, we went to the beach, tried to surf, listened to Jan & Dean, The Beach Boys and dreamt of the girls in "Ride the Wild Surf". By todays standards this movie seems "Hokie", but for three fourteen year old boy's in 1964 it was a movie and Summer to remember. ... Read more

John Cusack displays his usual charm in this adventure film from early in his career. Prep-school student Dan Bartlett (Cusack) flunks his chemistry final and has to forgo a Caribbean vacation with his wealthy girlfriend Laurie and her family. When the professor decides to be lenient and lets him pass, Dan sets off after Laurie--but finds himself one step behind her as he's sidetracked, shanghaied, and almost shipwrecked. Meanwhile, the boat that Laurie is on gets hijacked, just as Dan finally catches up. Hot Pursuit won't be remembered as one of Cusack's best films, but it's enjoyable and has beautiful shots of the Caribbean. Robert Loggia gives a rambunctious performance as an old sea dog and Ben Stiller makes his film debut as a sleazy cabin boy. --Bret Fetzer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Cusack movie you never heard of.
This movie didn't get the attention like other classics like "The Sure Thing" or "Better off Dead" but it captured John Cusack's charming Charlie Brown Turned Hero quality better than any of them. It sits on my list of favorites, but sadly I never see it in a rental store, and I'm afraid it's destined to obscurity.

But the fact is: I loved it. It was a special, funny movie with a lot of charm.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great "cheesy" 80's flick
If you're a big fan of the "cheesy" 80's flicks.. pick this one up. It's really very funny! Pair it with a big pitcher of margaritas and you've got the recipe for a night of laughs.

3-0 out of 5 stars ARRRR! SPAGHETTI-O'S!
Nice little diversion with Cusack playing a prep-school fish out of Carribean paradise water. When problems at school delay him from joining his girlfriend and her folks on their vacation getaway, he's determined to find any way to catch up with them, even take up with a questionable post-modern pirate of a ship's captain played by Loggia (who delivers the classic line that headlines this review). The movie attempts to be all it can be, with subplots involving a family of crooks, a kidnapping, and a search for paternal acceptance, but it's mostly held afloat by Cusack and Loggia's repartee. This is one of Cusack's last pure-breed 80's comedys before he broke out into his dramedy films of the 90's, and his loud "I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME!" schtick wears a little thin by the conclusion, but all parties involved were smart enough to keep the film short, so it's not painfully obvious. An absolute must for all Cusack fans, and decent fun for everyone else.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun movie !
John Cusack's early movie and it is a good one. The director Steven Lisberger also directed Tron in 82. The performace is fine and the movie is quite funny every step of the way. Robert Loggia Co-stars.

The DVD is quite good. The picture is sharp and exotic locations are presented beautifully in this DVD. Too bad Paramount did not remastered the sound in 5.1 but the sound quality is adequate. Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of The Best 80's Films Ever
It's about time, I've been waiting years for this to hit DVD format. It was only about 14 months ago when the VHS was still going for $80. What a great movie, if you liked Honeymoon in Vegas you'll love the classic Cusack while he scours a tropical paradise in search of his georgeous girlfriend. The plot leaves you restless, while Cusack gets closer his girlfriend seems to get farther away and who'd of thought there'd be a gun battle at the end. Just buy it you'll love it!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lightning CAN Strike Twice
Bruce Timm and Paul Dini prove that lightning can strike twice when they switched creative gears from the dark streets of Gotham City to the bright lights, big city look of Metropolis. This animated epic begins on Krypton but quickly travels to Earth, with the arrival of baby Kalel to the Kents. Eventually, Clark Kent's trials lead him to Metropolis, where a rival/love interest named Lois Lane fights for headlines while a greedy businessman named Lex Luther fights for control of the planet! Outstanding family entertainment about the man of steel! A must for any serious Super-fan!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's 3 episodes, not a movie
Superman: The Last Son of Krypton is the first three episodes of the acclaimed animated series that ran on KidsWB! in the late 90's. As became par for the WB marketing department, rather than give fans fresh Superman material, they were content to edit and repackage episodes together into "movies". The resulting video is worth your attention and collection, but it's not a movie, and it's nowhere near the best that the series had to offer.

Superman: LSK was produced by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and the many talented people that created Batman: The Animated Series, and later, Batman Beyond and Justice League. While the group has had no problems with Batman, they never quite got the hang of Superman, and it's evident in these episodes. Like Richard Donner's 1978 Superman movie, the origin of Superman is told in three distinct parts: Starting on Krypton, we learn of the planet's demise and follow scientist Jor-El as he rockets his son to Earth. We see Clark grow up in Smallville and learn of his heritage, then we move on to Metropolis and the introduction of Lois Lane, the Daily Planet, and Lex Luthor. The scenes on Krypton are the best part of the "movie". In a wise move, the villain Brainiac is re-imagined as Krypton's supercomputer, and lets everyone die so it can save itself.

Kal-El is rocketed to Earth, and the "movie" starts going downhill. Too little time is spent on Clark finding out about his powers in Smallville. I would've liked to see more of Lana Lang, and more of Clark gradually accepting that he's different. The story skips by these important scenes too quickly as it moves us to Metropolis. Lex Luthor has designed a prototype battle suit that is appearantly stolen by terrorist John Corben. Too much time is spent on this plot thread, and at times it overwealms Superman's introduction to the citizens of Metropolis. I would've liked to see more of a shock among the bad guys when they find out they're being chased by a flying man, Superman's interview with Lois, and the scene of Superman finding acceptance after his final victory is too short. The fight sequences go on a tad too long, and Superman is knocked about repeatedly until he suddenly cuts loose and finishes the fights in a matter of seconds. Worst of all, the "movie" ends with the foreshadowing of the return of Brainiac. Nothing wrong with that, but it only makes sense in the context of the entire series. Fans who haven't seen the other episodes will be left hanging.

Despite all this, there are also many positives. All the characterization is dead on, from eager Jimmy Olsen to hardened Perry White, Lana Lang, Jor-El, and especially the three big stars, Clark, Luthor, and Lois. While actors Tim Daly and Clancy Brown are still struggling with their voices here, they find themselves by the third episode's end, and give great performances.

For those wanting to watch a "movie", try the "Batman-Superman Movie". It's the only other three episodes of the Superman series released, but its story is more self-contained and more enjoyable. Superman: The Last Son of Krypton is not the best introduction the character could've recieved, but it's still an important part of the series, and essential viewing.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Legend Reborn
From the creators of the popular "Batman: The Animated Series", the legendary Man of Steel returns in the promising animated adventure "Superman: The Last Son of Krypton". The young survivor of the doomed Planet Krypton grows to manhood on Earth with extraordinary abilities. Moving to Metropolis, the kind-hearted alien visitor arouses the interest of rival star journalist Lois Lane and ruthless industrialist Lex Luthor. This latest adaptation of the classic super hero is certainly the most faithful and well-produced series in recent decades. It features a simple well paced storyline, interesting characters, engrossing comic book action and a rich music score. The animation is brighter and more colorful than the dark gothic style used in "Batman: TAS". The voice cast includes Tim Daly, Dana Delany, Clancy Brown and Malcolm McDowell.

For under $15, "Superman: The Last Son of Krypton" is a good bargain DVD. This animated feature is presented in its original full screen format. The DVD contains a simple but well done video transfer with some bits of dust and grain, and a good 2.0 Dolby Digital sound. Among supplemental extras, it includes "Portrait of a Hero" featurette, Character Bios with video clips and "Escape from Planet Krypton" game. In terms of presentation and extras, "Superman" is a worthy bargain purchase and receives a "B-".

4-0 out of 5 stars Caped Wonder
Since The Man Of Steel made his debut in the pages of Action Comics during the month of June, in the year 1938, his origin has been told and retold many times. Each time those in charge of crafting the well known story, putting a new spin on how the last son of Krypton became Earth's greatest protector against the forces of evil. Following the success of the Emmy Award winning Batman: The Animated Series, Bruce Timm and his fantastic team of collaborators, decided to launch Superman in 1996...in prime time, just as they did with the Caped Crusader.

The feature length "pilot" is animated in the same style as the Batman series, using sharp edges, ala'from the 1940s, giving the show a classic feel. Yet it still maintained a modern sensibility, with more adult storylines that kids could also enjoy.

The voice cast is a talented group, that helped bring very familiar characters to life, with much believability and authority. Playing Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent, Tim Daly (from the TV sit-com Wings), plays it straight. Dana Delany as Lois Lane, reminds me of the way Phylis Coates and Noel Neil played her in the classic 50's live action series. Character actor Clancy Brown voiced arch enemy Lex Luthor in a way that he made me forget the cheesy way the character came across in the now retro Superfriends incarnation. Anyone familiar with the way John Byrne retooled the mythology in 1988, will surely recognize his influences throughout, as well.

Essentially, The Last Son Of Kryton, is the first three episodes of the series, that aired as a 90 minute special, for its premiere. The DVD takes a look at the characters, with the feature called "Superman: Family, Friends & Foes". How To Draw Superman will give you a brieff look behind the scenes and "Escape From Planet Krypton" is a fairly easy game.

This release is recommended for any fan of the show. I do hope they decide to put the series in some type of DVD box sets at some point in the future

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie
This "movie" comprises the first three episodes of the superb Superman: The Animated Series. It is an excellent introduction to Superman, and one of the best of the first season. (...)If you're not a completist then don't buy this, because(...) there is a box set due out in the summer. I bought it for the sole purpose of having it in a movie format. ... Read more

Elvis is harried by three, count 'em, three marriage-minded dames in Spinout, in which he plays a race car driver/rock & roll singer. He's offered big bucks to compromise his lifestyle by playing a party for a rich girl (frequent co-star Shelley Fabares) and drive a millionaire's prototype car, but Elvis isn't tempted by material gain. (Sort of an inverse plot to EP's real showbiz career.) Most of the picture has the flat, studio-bound look that director Norman Taurog perfected in his many Presley vehicles, with only the big race scene in the last 10 minutes perking things up. However, the songs are rockin'-er than usual for a mid-Elvis movie, with "Stop, Look and Listen," "I'll Be Back," and "Adam and Evil" all fun in a dragstrip kind of way. (Let us ignore "Smorgasbord.") Elvis is in his chunky pre-comeback form here, and looks understandably bored by the plot. --Robert Horton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars VALERIE BERTINELLI HAD THE MOST GORGEOUS HAIROF THE 70'S !
When I recently watched the One day at a time reunion special it reminded me how truly great this show was and it should be released on dvd immediately. It's funny how the tv shows you like the least go on dvd alot faster. Gee, I wonder why?

Well I hope Columbia Tristar won't take too much longer releasing this well written show on dvd, considering it reflects the times we are living in now with divorced women being single parents at a rapid pace. Even Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips reflected on their own experiences now being divorced moms. I should have known the incomparable Norman "Creative Genius" Lear would be the creater and executive producer of such a great and well written sitcom!!!
Whenever the series is released it would be nice to feature the reunion special on the dvd extras. Gosh! Everybody still looked great! When Valerie Bertinelli commented how cute she was back then, I said "VALERIE YOUR STILL CUTE!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Come On, Already, Sony!!!
One of the best shows of the 1970's, "One Day at a Time" is very deserving for a first class DVD release.I just wish Sony would get their butts in gear and release it.I heard it should be coming out this fall. It's still quite a bit a ways but hopefully they will stick to it and not keep pushing it back.

5-0 out of 5 stars PLEASE PUT 'ONE DAT AT A TIME' ON DVD
When I saw the reunion in Feb. I fell in love with this show all over again. I hope CBS TV or whoever owns the rights to this show will release it on DVD (soon) because this is one of the best sitcoms of the 70s!!!
