In 1963 Elvis could still be energized by the music in his movies, and the production values hadn't yet descended to budget-crunching level. Thus the breezy pleasure of Fun in Acapulco, which sees the pelvis-swinger coming to life for a rousing "Bossa Nova Baby" and a clutch of faux-Mexican tunes. Nice scenery of the fabled resort, but the movie has a strange disconnect (which becomes weirdly fascinating if you keep track of it): Elvis himself is limited to standing and singing in front of rear-projection Mexican vistas, while his hard-working double bicycles down streets, strides across beaches, etc. The newly hot Ursula Andress keeps Elvis and his double company. Elvis's jobs are among his craziest movie gigs: he begins as a deckhand, is hired as a nightclub entertainer/lifeguard, but is revealed to be a trapeze artist in his former life. Bossa Nova Baby
Great songs and Elvis is looking wonderful! A fun movie for the whole family.

I am a big Elvis fan, and this movie is by far my favorite one! It has everything....catchy songs....Elvis chasing the girls....you name it!

If you are a fan and have not seen this movie, I highly recommend it!

funny entertainment
There was a valid reason for why Elvis was called the king of rock; he was on top and he reigned the entire time he was live, and now, even in death, he manages to sell more and more albums and be enjoyed by new generations.

This Elvis movie is a personal favorite of mine. The on-location filming makes it spectacular and Elvis is truly in top form in this delightful movie. You can watch it with the whole family, and, with the exception of one pretty gruesome fist fight scene, with young children as well.

Elvis sings a number of Spanish-tinged numbers and does a great performance at the El Troubadour of "Bossa Nova Baby."

The plot works well, and the story is fun if you can imagine Elvis Presley being a singer in Mexico in the early '60's.

The four Beatles acutally went to see this movie when the came over to the states early in their career.

Elvis does his own stunts in this film, but does not do the cliff diving scene. The cliff diving scene is really spectacular and really gives this film a unique dimension that many of his other films were missing due to tight budgets.

A great Elvis vehicle, you can enjoy it now, 40 years later (whewww...hard to believe it's that old now) and be transported back to a lovely time of innocence and fun.

Ursala Andress is a delight and had great on-screen chemistry with the king. I wish that she had made more appearances in Elvis movies as she was easily as good as Elvis as an actor.

Buy it for your collection so that you can watch it for years to come, and pass it along to the youngsters to let the next generation enjoy!!

Elvis and that Bossa Nova Baby beat.
"Fun In Acapulco" might look like it on-screen, but it wasn't fun in Acapulco for Elvis or Ursula Andress. Both of them were learning new languages. Ursula Andress was just learning English (reason for her voiced being dubbed in "Dr. No"), and Elvis had to learn Spanish because some of the songs he sang have Spanish lyrics. So it was hard work for them. You have to hear Elvis sing in Spanish. It's so different. Here, he plays a former circus performer who comes to Acapulco to get away from his past. He's hired as a lifeguard at a hotel, and sings for the guests at night. Being a lifeguard wasn't easy, because when he was in the circus, he was in the acrobats. On one swing he missed his partner who fell to the ground and resulted in a terrible accident. When a rival lifeguard learns about it, he challenges him to dive again since now Elvis' character is afraid of heights. He's finally able to gain back his courage, beats up the rival Alejandro Rey in a great fight scene, and climbs to the highest clif and makes the highest dive. He wins the heart of Ursula Andress, too. Great latin rhythm, latin love, and latin themed Elvis flick.

This movie review is not written by me. This movie review is written by Elvis Presley. April Fools Day! Elvis Presley heads south of the border. And if you don't know what I mean by that. He heads down to Mexico.

Mike Windgren (Elvis Presley) was put off a circus act with his famkly until an accident happens. The act is broken up. Now Mike is Mexico, where he is fired as a boat hand.

He is fired when his boss's minor daughter accuses him of bring her to a place that his not where she suppose to be. That same night he meets Raoul Almeido (Larry Domasin). He is a child. He looks like a midget Elvis!

Raoul helps Mike find a job at a htel. He is take the place of a bad singer, when the person is sick. And his aslo a part-time lifeguard at the pool. Before he's hired he meets cliff driver and the only lifeguard Moreno (Alejandro Rey). He dives 136 feet off a cliff. You won't catch me doing that.

He aslo meets Moreno's girl named Margarita Dauphine. She is played by Ursula Address. The songs are all sung by Elvis Presely with Larry Domasin sing a song with him. The movie was directed by Richard Thrope (Jailhouse Rock). Viva Elvis! Viva Mexico! ... Read more

Sally Field stars in this well-crafted revenge thriller. Eye for anEye follows Karen McCann (Field) after her teenage daughter is raped and murdered. At first, she sinks into depression and paranoia; but, when the killer (Kiefer Sutherland) is caught, then released on a technicality, she becomes obsessed and begins to track him in his neighborhood. Her single-mindedness begins to distance her from her husband (Ed Harris). Finally, when the killer threatens her younger daughter, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Eye for an Eye is not exactly a balanced examination of justice and revenge--Sutherland's killer is a relentless monster--but it does approach the conflict from many points of view, articulated by a superb supporting cast, including Joe Mantegna, Beverly D'Angelo, Charlayne Woodard, Philip Baker Hall, Keith David, and Donal Logue. TURN ABOUT IS FAIR PLAY
Justice? Revenge? It's really not that big an issue. Thanks to a gruesomely powerful turn by Kiefer Sutherland as a killer/rapist, the audience cannot help but stand with Sally Field in her quest for justice. Whether this justice comes through our legal system (which is never truly just), or whether it comes at her hands, Kiefer is definitely not an addition to the social world. Director John Schlesinger reinforces this sociopathic person by showing Kiefer pour hot coffee on a stray dog; drive like he owned the road; sneers at Sally and Ed in the courtroom, knowing he will get off.
Sally Field is one of those actresses many people find obnoxious, mainly because of her infamous "You really like me" speech at the Oscars. One cannot deny however her ferocity and dedication in this role. Sutherland of course is perfect, and there's some good support from Joe Mantegna and Beverly D'Angelo. Ed Harris' performance isn't as emotional as I would have liked, but one can understand his understated delivery.
The movie is another DEATH WISH, but it packs a powerful wallop and the rape scenes are truly despicable.

Justice or Revenge
Sally Field plays a mother whose daughter was raped and murdered by a repeat offender played by Keifer Sutherland. She seeks justice through the courts but is devastated and angered that her daughter's killer is scot-free. She goes to a support group for families who lost loved ones. But some members of the group are seeking revenge for those that have killed their loved ones and she decides that vengeance is the way to go. Her daughter's murderer walks the streets while she is in a state of mental anguish and distress. The family is nearly falling apart. What would you do if a criminal walked free for murdering your child? Would you seek revenge or rely on the justice system? That is what the movie questions.

I first saw this movie on television. This is one of the best revenge movies I've seen. Justice is finally done, legally....
just like the guilty rapist and murderer got off legally...
This movie, somehow, gave me emotional release. When I was four years old, a little neighbor boy killed my kitten with a toy metal rake. I saw him from the window, I ran screaming..the kitten was dead. He ran, throwing the rake down the alley. He denied he did it to his parents, to my parents, to me. My kitten was still just as dead, and his parents said he was incapable of doing such a horrible thing. This is how this movie makes you feel, except now substitue a human life for a kitten, and a gloating, smurking murderer for a little boy.
Donald Sutherland portrays to perfection the villain you love to hate. Sally Field, as ever, flawless. I was amazed at how much better I felt after seeing this movie.

Great Movie,Great Acting,Great Script.
Eye For An Eye is one of those films where you know through the whole movie who the killer is but it still surprises you through the whole movie.Sally Field plays a mother who is talking to her daughter on the phone when her daughter explains she has to answer the door.After that we see and hear screaming and a man who you clearly see as Kiefer Sutherland raping and torturing her.The mother now devestated begins to seek revenge on the man when the case goes to trial but is botched by a dumb attorney.
Now the man is walking the streets even though he raped and murdered her daughter.She starts by just spying on the man watching him pick his next target,but when he realizes it things do get sort of ugly.The supporting cast which includes Ed Harris as the husband are characters which aren't even really needed for they could take all of Harris scenes out and wouldn't have to edit any thing else.But the film is a great thriller with great performances by Field and Sutherland.

Sally Field and Ed Harris' daughter is brutally murdered and raped by Kiefer Sutherland(evil) but they dont have a case on him and they let him go and he comes after Sally..the attack scenes are hard to chew..I mean really..but it runs out of steam and we cant truly feel what Field is feeling ... Clint Eastwood's stardom was supernova, thanks to Dirty Harry; John Sturges, the man behind The Magnificent Seven and a dozen other memorably leathery Westerns, was directing; and Elmore Leonard was the screenwriter.It just goes to show.Joe Kidd is a muddle and a drag, the shoddiest Eastwood vehicle since Rowdy Yates trod in his last cow flop.Kidd, first seen as a duded-up drunk sleeping one off in jail, is supposed to be a horse rancher and an expert tracker--just the fellow a rapacious land-grabber (Robert Duvall committing lazy villainy) needs to chase down the uppity Latino (John Saxon) who's trying to reclaim the grabbed land for its rightful owners.Neither the characters nor the overland pursuit makes any sense, thanks to chasms in the continuity and no direction to speak of.An absurdly arbitrary assault-by-locomotive provides the climax; as Eastwood observed, "Jesus, anything at this point--let's end it."--Richard T. Just Okay
I really wanted to like this film a lot: what with Clint and Robert Duvall starring together.

But it's just not a very good film. It has the flavor of classic Clint and the western drama but lacks the substance. The story line is too improbable for even the most ardent fan. The dialogue and action are slow and drawn out. Like molasses.
And the climax is just plain limp.

Fortunately, there are so many great Clint westerns to choose from - Hang'em High, Good, Bad, and the Ugly trio, The Outlaw Josey Wales (one of Clint's favorites) that the viewer can still enjoy wonderful westerns of the highest quality - but this isn't one of them.

Three stars.

Sober & Conservative Eastwood Western, still worth the Money
Another sober and conservative Eastwood Western, directed by John Sturges this time... Although not as captivating or as intriguing as the following High Plains Drifter, it nevertheless has all the classic ingredients, absolutely great sceneries, a relatively modest story, and a rather fine cast (including Robert Duvall). The existential themes are a bit in the wake and following of Hang 'Em High, i.e. the question of Justice, Right and Wrong, etc. (themes that were to be omnipresent in all of Eastwood's subsequent Westerns). Of course it isn't a truly Fantastic Western, at least by the standard of his following ones (High Plain Drifters, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Pale Rider), but it's nevertheless still worth a cool watch, if only for the extremely beautiful outdoors...

Not one of my favorites, but a good performance by Duvall
Joe Kidd is not one of my favorite Eastern westerners (and Eastwood is my favorite, hands down, when it comes to films, and the Western is my favorite genre), but it does feature a good performance by Robert Duvall as the heavy. Clint's character is a little too reigned in in this one for my taste, until at the end he runs a steam engine through the town in order to extract some vengeance from Duvall's baddie.

A good supporting cast (as is typical in an Eastwood flick), also featuring John Saxon and Don Stroud.

He cant act, so he figures hed try singing his lines- listen for when he breaks out with "I wanna see a man by the name of Joe Kidd" sung in a sing-song South Sea style.

A Little Stale
Clint Eastwood rarely stars in a bad movie, but that's not to say this is bad, it just falls a bit flat. A good cast, including a deliciously villainous Robert Duvall unfortunately fail to lift this picture above mediocrity. Add to this, it's relatively short running time (just under 90 minutes), fans of the genre, and Clint (who have been spoiled by great movies before) will feel a little let down. It's probably fair to say that a lesser known cast, and director wouldn't even have got this movie off the cutting room floor. All this said, any Clint collector will probably want it in his/her collection, and the usual amount of dry humor, and Eastwoodesque rationality does make this watchable, if not that memorable. ... What ? Huh . . . . ?
It's just too bad the natives only had stick cameras, they probably could have done a better job. I watched this movie because I wanted to see what caused Dennis Hopper's demise with the studios after the success of "Easy Rider". Disjointed, boring, interesting somewhat, really bad lighting and sound. It's a star-studded borefest. Would be great if Mr. Hopper would re-release a new version that made sense. But maybe that's the point. I am grateful Dennis Hopper survived "The Last Movie" to give us what is, to date, a rich an entertaining body of work. ... Read more
