2-0 out of 5 stars Well, at least his mask looked pretty cool
Ah yes, the sixth installment in the Halloween series. I watched this over and over and over and still have mixed feelings about this. The plot from this movie differs a bit from 4 and 5, and that's what this series needed, a change. But the change the movie took shoudn't have happened like this. Don't get me wrong, I liked this movie just like every other Halloween but I mean come on, thorn? I remember the good old days when Michael was just a psychopath who escaped from a sanitarium. That was simple. When you introduce the thorn aspect it "totally" takes away the simplicity that made the original so great. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) returns for his last film before he past away. And as always, he gave a great performance. This movie is explicitly violent, and gory. The soundtrack was just annoying. And the fact that they killed Jamie was a real dissapointment to me. Hey, at least the plot was interesting and fresh. And as always, the ending made us wonder which is always a plus. In conclusion, I think die hard Halloween fans will enjoy, while other movie buffs will not be impressed. You have anything to say about what I said about this movie? 4-0 out of 5 stars Scary and atmospheric sequel that will deliver the goods!
They haven't made a bad HALLOWEEN movie yet. Each new sequel manages to be a stand-out above all other horror sequels, showing that effort is being made by the film makers. HALLOWEEN 6: THE CURSE OF MICHEAL MYERS is one of the finest and scariest HALLOWEEN movies in the series. Director Joe Chappelle creates moments of intense suspense and drenches the movie with haunting atmosphere. The script also introduces some very intresting and fun characters such as Tommy Doyle, Kara Strode, and of course the return of Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence in his final role). Viewers who are not familiar with HALLOWEEN 4 and 5 may find this movie a little confusing, so I do suggest watching the previous sequels first. H6 has a few plot holes, but nothing that can't be forgiven. If you get a chance, try and find the Producer's Cut bootleg which explains a lot more. But I do recommend this movie to people looking for good scares and a quality sequel.
Side Note: Avoid the DVD becuase it doesn't have ANY extras. Save a few bucks and go with the VHS for now.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Makings of a Great Sequel, what a shame...
Let's get started by saying that I personally liked the "thorn"-related Halloween movies (4 and 5 to be specific), but this was very disappointing.

Halloween 4 was a solid movie. H5 was somewhat weaker, but was still OK, as it presented the mysterious "man in black".

Why was this movie so terrible? This is a long story but, first of all, it was somewhat doomed from the start. Mid-way through production, director Joe Chappelle viewed the currently shot footage and found it to be horrible. He went to Dimension Films and asked to reshoot the ending as well as various additional scenes, all of which Dimension greenlighted. At the same time, Halloween 6 had its budget slashed by two million dollars, which is something it definitely did not need. Chappelle reshot the scenes, but this "alternate" version of the film was not what was eventually sent to theaters. Instead, was a film that many found confusing. And, it truly was. Many of the connecting plot lines had been cut out. The film ended up being a box-office failure. One can blame it on many things, but I point it to a loosely-connected plot, poor script, and poor use of Donald Pleasance. And yet, he was the best thing about the movie. His performance is solid, as it always is. Pleasance, who was ill during filming, died before the film's release. Coincidentally, his last film would be a sequel to the one that made him famous.

After hearing about why this film ended up being one of the poorer Halloween sequels, you may now want to know what it was about. H6 is the most intensely thorn plot-centered movie of them all, and starts off with an adult Jamie giving birth to a baby. Jamie and the baby escape, but Michael quickly shows up and murders Jamie. Tommy Doyl, whom you may remember from the original Halloween, is now an adult, an is devoted to tracking down Michael Myers. He and Dr. Loomis team up in an effort to protect the baby from Michael.

My advice would be to avoid this movie. If you are one of those people who are interested in seeing "what could have been", track down the famous "Producer's Cut" DVD, which is available on many online auction sites and containes 43 minutes of alternate footage.

1-0 out of 5 stars i hate moustapha akkad
DO NOT see this. it sucks. it is wretched. it has no suspense, all the characters suck, and the thorn thing, what the F@$#! it was scarier when michael just killed his family for no apparent reason. just skip this trash along with 4,5,6 and ressurection. stick with the first two and you can't go wrong. H2O wasn't bad either. and season of the witch is good, just don't expect myers to be in it. watch it as if it was NOT part of the halloween series and you will have fun.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lacking in suspense, thick with cliche
This is the worst film in the long running "Halloween" series. By trying the desperate attempts of bring in a new story line about a bizzare paganistic cult is more funny than frightening, the use of gore in this film is shocking, belting it out to hideous and camp levels with no style or originality.

The only elements that are worth credit are the revamped score and the fact the mask in this movie is closer to that of Carpenter's orginal. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ok, romantics- Dawson didn't get Joey, but Bob gets Brendan!
I originally saw this movie in the theatre and have both the VHS and DVD. As many times as I have watched this flick, I have never gotten tired of it. The film makes me laugh and cry as much the 100th time as it did on my first viewing. If Brian Sloan can do this incredible a production on this lower-budgeted film, I can't wait to see what he can create when the "bank vaults are open." Mr. Sloan stated a very perceptive insight about the making of this film. If I can paraphrase a bit it is that gay and straight people cannot be seperated. They are intertwined together in our society.

The film introduces us to a group of college friends (gay, straight, and closeted) during their senior year at Georgetown University and then jump-forwards five years later to their reunion at one of the couple's wedding. The plot is already described in many of the reviews on line already. Suffice to say the interwoven themes are about unrequited love, friendship, loyalty, honestly, and finding one's self-idenity and place in the word. The casting- PERFECT!- from the six main characters to all the supporting actors and actresses in this movie. The chemistry created by this ensemble is rarely matched or equaled in films today.

My two favorite characters in the film? Carol and Brendan. Carol, the bride, gets all the good lines! Her facial and body language in her delivery only adds to my enjoyment and laughter. Brendan delivers one of the consistent and enjoyable roles from making me laugh to making me cry. The final scene with Brendan (and Bob) at the train station has me in tears everytime. Bravo Christian and Lauren!

The script is border-line genius in so many of the lines- serious and funny. To top it all off is having the Partridge Family songs, which at times almost seem like they were made for this movie, pop in and out during the film.

This film is why we all go to the movies... to laugh, have fun, and maybe walk away a better person having taken away a lesson(s) about life philosophies. A VERY enjoyable film from beginning to end that won't disappoint. I promise!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Wonderful 90 minutes!
What a hilarious movie. Although somewhat predictable, it is a great 'feel-good' movie.

Basically, this movie contains the screwball "who will marry who" antics of The Philadelphia Story but has been given a gay update in this deliriously romantic and sexy comedy.

Bob (Arquette) and Brendan (the hunky Christian Maelen) are college roommates whose close friendship (and Bob's mad crush) is chilled after a hopeful but awkward pass by Bob is rejected by Brendan. Now five years later, they, and their college chums all reunite for the marriage of one of their former classmates. Among those in attendance is Brendan, his college girlfriend Sarah (Corman), and Bob, who brings along soap opera star Sterling (Watkins), his handsome but ever so dull boyfriend. As everyone parties and consumes just enough booze, libidos are raised and inhibitions lowered.

Is the bedroom-eyed Brendan really out and longing for Bob?

Will Sarah get her wish and bed Brendan, if only for old times sake?

Will Sterling marry Bob and get his hoped-for themed wedding?

Will Bob ever wake up and smell the yearning?

Watch this GREAT movie, laugh, enjoy, and get the answers to all your questions...

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny twists and enjoyable
"I think I do" Is an entertaining and funny movie. It takes place over years and shows a group of friends in school and in the careers they take on. It all comes to a head when they get back together for the wedding of a friend and the comedy begins. It was well acted, well scripted and the film quality was great. Its not overly sexually graphic and is actually a sweet romantic story that would be great for mixed crowds. It is very funny, not heavy or dark, has no social message about getting sick or addiction. Its about being with the one you love and accepting that some things take time. It is a good investment and a possitive addition to your video collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really good
It's nice to see a movie about gay guys without it being about HIV or drug use or getting laid or homophobia. 'I Think I Do' is really more like a daytime soap opera. It even has two soap opera stars from 'One Life To Live' playing parts in it. The acting is really well done for this light hearted comedy and the jokes are, at times, very funny. This type of screw ball comedy is something that would make millions in theaters if it were about a man and a woman but since it's about two guys it gets second rate treatment which is sad.

5-0 out of 5 stars WARM AND FUNNY MOVIE
In the following review, I'm not going to tell the plot of this wonderful, warm movie because almost everyone else on this board has told highlights of the plot. However I'm going to tell you what this fillm means to me on a personal level.
This is one of my all time favorite movies. It is a movie I view when I'm happy, when I'm sad, when I'm depressed, when I'm discontented,, when I'm contented when I'm grumpy, when I'm feeling older than god, etc.--in other words, no matter what state of mind I'm in, this movie makes me feel better, happier and yes, even younger. (By the way, I'm a whole lot older than the characters in the movie.) I really can't say how many time I've viewed "I Think I Do" it must be, going on, at least, a hundred times. I love all of the characters. It's just an integral part of my life. In the course of a day, I'm forever thinking of some line from the film that I particularly like and find amusing (e.g., "Advil and sleep" "Oh Bob, I'm scared, you've been writing for that soap-opera too long" "So making out in the bathroom is what you call romantic? It would've been if you hadn't been moving around so much" "your ex-father will arrive at..." "Whatever you say, pokey-bear" etc. You'll have to see the movie to be able to relate and find out what context those quotes are in, and I'm sure you'll find your own funny lines to remember.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone that wants a little romance, warmth and/or fantasy in his/her life (or just to feel good) by getting acquainted with a lovable group of wonderful friends where gay and straight get along and care about each other no matter what his/her respective sexual orientation happens to be. To me the group of characters in "I Think I Do" are every bit as funny (if not funnier) as the characters on the television sit-com "Friends"; however, the characters in the film are far more diverse--ethnically and sexually. One thing for sure, they handle the gay issue far better than the television group does. No one is "put-down" for being gay or appearing to be gay--no cheap shots at gay people.
Each actor is wonderful in his or her role being far funnier and likeable than any of the actors in the above-mentioned sit-com. The stand-out is Guilermo Diaz (he also starred in "Stonewall") as Eric. The actress that plays Beth is also one of my favorites. Frankly, I like them all!! I just wish, in my youth, I had a group of friends like those portrayed in this movie. Maybe I'm reliving my youth a little (or at least a fantasy thereof), by repeated viewings of this film.
The critics felt this movie was a 1990's version of a 1930's slapstick romantic comedy where "boy gets girl"; however, in this movie "boy gets boy". The gay romance is interwoven seamlessly into the fabric of the film occurring at the same time as a heterosexual wedding. It makes for a wonderful, delightful fun-filled romp of fun and laughter. ... Read more

Rick is a rare feature that makes intelligent and exciting use of audience bewilderment. From its opening scenes, this quirky update of Verdi's Rigoletto thrusts viewers into a bizarre corporate culture in which mean-spiritedness, adolescent high jinks, and general dimwittedness are the norm, but there is no explanation as to why. Yet it's impossible to turn away from the madness and decadence of scenes in which Bill Pullman's middle-aged executive, Rick, engages in monstrous behavior toward subordinates or exchanges in fraternal obscenities with his young, clueless boss, Duke (Aaron Stanford), who is routinely enjoying anonymous, online sex with Rick's daughter, Eve (Agnes Bruckner). Screenwriter Daniel Handler, better known to the world as author Lemony Snicket, and director Curtiss Clayton slowly introduce enough background to unlock the central tragedy in this tale, and lead everyone to a shared, startling destiny. Cinematographer Lisa Rinzler (Pollock) sets everything against a fantastic cityscape and voyeuristic hell. --Tom Keogh ... Read more
