The best comic book movie.
Superman. Spider-man. X-Men. They're all good comic book films, but to me they pale in comparison to this 1989 classic. Micheal Keaton plays Batman/Bruce Wayne and pulls both roles off real well being a millionaire by day and a crimefighter by night. Jack Nicholson also pulls off a great role as the psychotic Joker. The writers did a very good job on the story. My only complaint is the DVD itself. There's not even a theatrical trailer. Maybe Warner Bros. will release a 2-disc special edition next year for the film's 15th anniversary, complete with a theatrical trailer, deleted scenes, and possibly a commentary. They should, considering all the 2-disc special editions they've been releasing lately. Anyway, I highly recommend this to anyone.

Is there a 6-foot bat in Gotham City?
I can still remember as a 4 year-old being completely obsessed with the Batman character. And I loved the movie. To put it simply, Batman was my hero. Of course this isn't the case anymore but I still think that "Batman" is a great film.

One of the most striking things about "Batman" is the set design by Anton Furst, which is very Gothic and bleak looking (during the outdoor scenes there is no sun whatsoever). The Gotham City that looked like any other in the TV series is transformed into dark, slimy crime pit in which good is basically nonexistent. Tim Burton gives the film some good direction, keeping things tight and interesting. He executed the action scenes nicely as well. Aside from the impressive set design and direction, the movie is also well acted. Michael Keaton played the role of Batman very well, giving Batman a powerful presence and a sort of everyman personality (which is even a bit off-the-wall) when he's Bruce Wayne. Jack Nicholson, meanwhile, was excellent as the Joker. He hams things up a lot, which makes sense since the character of Joker is supposed to be a complete, smart-mouthed maniac. I did notice a few problems with this movie though. The story, for the most part, focuses too much on the Joker, which is silly. I mean, isn't the movie called "Batman"? The plot is bit shallow as well, which probably explains why I found it a bit difficult to pin point exactly the Joker wants to do with Gotham City. The love story was bit weak as well. While Kim Basinger did good job as Vicki Vale, she and Keaton didn't develop a lot of chemistry to make their pairing believable.

If you can ignore some minor problems, "Batman" stands as pretty good comic book adaptation. If you like superhero films, then this one is certainly worthy being included in your collection.

It's the first batman movie and it really wasn't that good. Jack Nicoleson was good at joker. But this movie just doesn't catch you. The story between Bruce and Vicky is okay. Tim Burten filmed it well,the action wasn't that good, and compared to the others except the fourth one it doesn't stand a chance.

Laughable special effects, especially for a movie that came out in the 90's, Robot Jocks had better effects. Watch where the joker falls off the building, and where the bat plane crashes, I think the fire is done with cigarettes. Choreography is lame, like at the end where a guy jumps over Batman's head then goes falling through the floor. Batman doesn't use his intellect or detective skills really, just goes charging in to battles, he almost gets killed twice while out of costume. It doesn't make sense that batman tries to tell Vicky Vale his secret identity. "Yeah, this'll make her respect me
". I can imagine him in front of a mirror practicing "I'm Batman". He also endangers innocent civilians in a car chase(...). What's up with her wardrobe?(glasses), and the guy reporter is an annoying geek. The batsuit is more powerful than the batplane? Batman is shot about 15 times through the course of the movie (twice without the suit), but all it takes is one shot to bring down the plane, i guess because it's moving towards the bullet at such a speed. Pretty Empty
This felt like a particularly vacuous segment of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." I guess I was looking for an insightful glimpse into the world of Mick Jagger. Instead, I got a poorly edited glorification of Mick as loving father, musical prodigy and jetsetting man of the world. There was no critical analysis of his life, his music, his failed relationships, his relationship with offspring not appearing in the film, etc. This felt like a self-promotional image piece that was carefully designed to present Jagger as a man of sterling character. My suspicion was confirmed, in fact, when I read the closing credits: Mick was the Executive Producer. I have a feeling that the purpose of this so-called documentary was to inspire greater interest in Jagger among the public, and particularly among his fans, in order to increase sales of his newly released solo album. There's nothing wrong with such aggressive marketing, but let's not call the film a "documentary" - a "public relations" piece would have been a more fitting description. I have far greater respect for the documentary form than this hollow work conveyed.

The Other Half
I bought this DVD 1) because I heard Pete Townshend was in it and 2) because Mick is a very bright and interesting guy and I love the Rolling Stones. Very fun viewing; nice to see Mick enjoying his family and great to see fragments of him in the creative process. "Goddess" has some very strong work on it and the live tracks here are great. The highlight for me was Mick and Pete recording and chatting in the studio. Pick it up.

Being Mick-something I always wanted to see!
For any Rolling Stones or Mick Jagger fan, this is a must! It is always enjoyable to see how the "other half" lives including Rock Royalty such a Sir Mick. He is a musical genius and the glimpse into his life is quite interesting as we see Mick as the family man and the musician. Being from Florida, I especially enjoyed the scene from Miami where Mick goes on an airboat looking for gators, I assume in his offtime from working with Lenny Kravitz. Overall very interesting and something I thought I would never get to see....a candid glimpse of a musical icon! I've watched it so many times and it is a necessary collector's item for the Stones fan!

Good
I enjoyed this. The tag line, "You would if you could" is a little condescending, and you might think "I'll never live like that, what a jerk." But Mick seems like a nice guy, and it's fun to watch. I can't give it 5 stars, because Mick isn't worth 5 stars without the other Stones.

They really tried. They really tried their best. But...
This concert should have been one of the greatest concerts ever. Roger Waters' show about an isolated rock star slowly building a wall between himself and his audience is truly the most original idea and concept and of the best shows in history. However, this show had one major flaw. GUEST STARS. I hate it when someone takes something as great as the Wall and have an all star cast perform it. The only people who should perform the wall are Waters, Gilmour, Mason, and Wright. The music also seemed flawed at times, For example the accordian in Mother, it didn't seem to fit in quite right. But the worst part of all is OH MY GOD WHAT A FABULOUS ROOM. That actress really and I mean REALLY overdid it. . Another flaw was that they cut out Outside the Wall. Why? That would make the show complete, especially what happens after the Trial. Thats another thing, the Trial is way better with the animated prosecuter, wife, mother and most of all, Worm your Honor. The live action trial didn't have the effect that the animated one in the film did. Anyway that is enough of my complaints. Roger's performances in this were nothing short of amazing but Waters was the only good thing. They should of let him perform the songs instead of screw ones up, like when Cyndi Lauper does Another Brick in the Wall part II . Is there anybody out there? is way better. (Yes I know you don't have the visuals for that musically it is better) I'll stop complaining now so you can blast this review.

Better than I could imagine!
When this record was first released, I rejected it on the sole fact that it included Sinead Oconnor. I didn't care about her politics, but her vocals were more annoying than a teacher's new chalk on a squeaky clean board. As a huge Pink Floyd fan, I couldn't understand the watering down of such great music by Waters, and it obviously took me several years to overcome that.

When I saw this DVD on special, I bought it, stuck it into my surround sound system, and proceeded to fall into another day and time. The lyrics and music transcended everything that they had come to mean to me and became symbols for a movement. Regardless of what the others have said below, every song was performed with power and passion. I never would have dreamed that I would enjoy "Comfortably Numb" performed by the same man known for such club favs as "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Domino", but Morrison was superb. Even the dreaded Oconnor was convincing as a character in "The Wall".

No doubt that this performance was every bit as politically accurate then as it is now. Whether the wall was coming down in Germany or the Middle East looks for peace, these songs speak to us just as universally.

Great work, Mr. Waters. Now where is a DVD of "The Wall" to go with "Is There Anybody Out There?"?.

It's just not floyd...
As a die-hard Pink Floyd fan, I wasn't very stunned by this DVD.
It's a big spectacular show and it must have been fabulous to all of the people who were there, but I'm not really fond of all the 'stars' like Brian Adams or Cindy Lauper who just don't fit in.
The Wall is a very good but also a very dark album, and it's not the right album to be played by a bunch of famous rockartists.
Most of the time I skip to the parts that Waters sings, for me, these are the highlights.

I really hope someday the original Wall-show (of '81) will be released on DVD of VHS.

I was floored with this concert. I sat in awe as I watched and listened in surround sound. If you haven't seen it, you are missing one of the best concerts ever. It is an unbelieveably huge production. It was so good I bought the CD as well.

It's completely absured...and I loved every minute of it!
David Arquette does have an offbeat charm that a lot of people find "stupid", but if you've seen his movies and enjoy the way he delivers lines, this movie is for you.

The plot comes right out of a Knight Rider or some other cheesy 80s TV show, but it never takes itself seriously. David Arquette is a goofy guy trying to act tough. That in itself is pretty funny, but I get the impression he's doing it for the comedy. This movie is like a low-budget Bond film with Pee Wee Herman in the James Bond role.

The stunts were equally silly (like the car running up a tunnel wall had "miniature" written all over it). Sure the plot is a bit cheesy but it's fun enough to keep interested, and David Arquette (and the rest of the cast) is hilarious.

Let go of your super-critical mind and just sit back and take it for what it is. I had a blast watching this. It's a guilty pleasure.

Set for cruise control
RPM featuring the beautiful Famke Janssen and the witty David Arquette is a movie that got buried under the hype of other car heist films of the summer. I did not have high expectations for this film because I did not expect the action sequence and intensity of the summer blockbuster GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS. However, I was not disappointed by the performances of Ms. Janssen and Mr. Arquette. Set mostly in France, this film managed to tickle more than a few funny bones. The two main characters in the film are the best at what they do...stealing cars. They are not in it for the money, they are in it for the adrenaline rush and the satisfaction of out-doing each other. Needless to say, they manage to get themselves into many sticky situations( literally for Ms. Janssen's character). You'll have to watch the film to see if they manage to get themselves out of their sticky predicaments. So set your remote control for cruise control and enjoy this movie.

A Car Wreck of a Movie
There are so many things wrong with this movie that I don't know where to start. I think it was Fox's way of capitalizing on the rush of car movies in the last few years.

My biggest problem is the plot. There are holes and side plots that really make no sense. Luke is a lot like Ferris Bueller, he gets in trouble and causes problems. His biggest problem is he's addicted to stealing classic cars, sometimes from right under their owner's noses. When his most recent escapade lands him in trouble with the law he jets off to Europe until it all blows over.

In addition to Luke's escapades as a classic car thief, and his rivalry with Claudia, who turns out is his sister, there's a side plot involving a woman from the states trying to arrest Luke, and an Italian detective who'd rather hop into the sack with her than help her solve the case. These two are thrown into the plot at random times, almost as comic relief, but it's not funny, and really has very little to do with the movie.

The plot gets even more complicated when you throw in a pretty girl for Luke to fall for, who just so happens to be tied into a ring of car thieves who want the RPM, a revolutionary prototype car. They offer Luke lots of money to steal it, and then up the odds by threatening the pretty girl he's gotten himself attached to. The pretty girl seems almost as an afterthought, they would have done better to offer Luke a way out of his problem in the US, it would have made him just as likely to steal the car.

The whole movie is almost like a train wreck. Not only does the plot jump around and take weird side turns when you least expect it, but the dialog is poor, and the characters seem built on stereotypes and have no personalities of their own. Building interesting, complex characters would have been lost on the script though, it too is built on stereotypes and already well used plot devices.

The only saving grace of the movie was the nice cars. There are a lot of nice classic cars in the movie, and you can momentarily lose yourself in their grace and looks before you're pulled back to realize that the plot stinks, the premise isn't very interesting, and overall it's just a very bad movie. If you insist on watching it, please consider renting or borrowing it instead of purchasing.

For all the folk that were expecting a bargin basement movie that you'd never heard of to be top quality, well, um, you better have a rethink on your expectation list.
Now about the movie. Its totally unrealistic. The premis of the movie is that you have two world class car thieves, a super car that doesn't require gasoline, and two uber-rich and powerful evil guys who don't like each other much. One wants the super car, the other is well, you'll have to watch to find out.
The cars in the movie are beautiful, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Lotus... That alone is worth the lost cost of the film. Throw in Femke and well thats a bonus. Yes the movie is stupid and silly, but its also fun if you approach with the correct mind set. This is a B class movie so dont expect much. Given that, enjoy the show. It really isn't a bad movie for sheer stupidity level.

I am mad at myself for wasting the time to watch this...
I saw this about 5 months ago...and it still irks me that I wasted and hour and a half of my life watching this worse film that ever was produced...it was sooo bad I thought it was a joke and waiting for a punchline somewhere.....who ever rated this more than 1 star....all I can say is.....Gee..I am still speechless!!!..I dont know what to say....I wasted [money amount]on this at [local store]...and pitched it right in the trash after I painfully watched it... ... David Arquette's offbeat charm will likely never make him a leading man. That's part of the fun of RPM, a tongue-in-cheek Euro-American car-jacking adventure about an American techno wizard whose sideline is stealing vintage autos for fun and... well, mostly just for fun. When New York gets too hot for him he flies off to Europe, heists his way through the coolest vintage autos in the south of France, and then hires himself out to a corporate pirate who desires a tightly guarded experimental car that runs without gas.
