2-0 out of 5 stars Oh Nelly!
Nell is an earnest and slightly soporific drama about a doctor's inadvertant discovery of a wild child in the remote hills of North Carolina. Jerry Lovell (Liam Neeson), a rural MD is dispatched to confirm the death of a hermit-like mountain lady and is quick to discover a cantankerous, violent, and unintelligible young woman, obviously the old woman's unacknowledged daughter, hiding in the cabin rafters. Lovell is immediately captivated by Nell (Jodie Foster) and is soon joined by career-climbing psychologist Paula Olsen (Natasha Richardson) in attempting to decode the mysterious woman's gibberish-filled rages. Before you can say "Wapner at 5:30," this hillbilly rain woman's past becomes brutally clear: her mother, a victim of rape in her youth, had given birth to the child but kept her a secret from the the world for thirty years; Nell has been taught that men and daylight are harmful, and her language is the product of imitation after her mother's stroke.

The sentiment here is laid on thick. Nell is harrassed by those stereotypical movie rejects, scientists and red necks. The scientists want her brought in for study; the red necks want to play a little doctor (Can you say Deliverance?) There are a number of nice scenes portraying the bonding between the three leads, and the direction by the talented Michael Apted is sensitive and well-intentioned, but Nell suffers by asking us to shed too many unearned tears. In this regard, most damaging is the lack of key exposition. We never really get to know Nell. Her mystery, while at first quite interesting, loses its novelty by the time they take the wide-eyed country girl to the big bad city.

The biggest roadblock has to be Jodie Foster. Her pagan-like emoting as she dances naked through the woods is two stations short of hamville. It's like she wants us to believe so desperately in Nell's tragic story that she has to use a few neon signs to show us the way. Thanks, but I think we can handle it ourselves. Neeson is more effective, and he and real-life wife Richardson do a nice job of counterbalancing Foster's excess in the role of Nell's surrogate ma and pa.

1-0 out of 5 stars Painfully cliche; unintentionally hilarious
Nell is a clunky drama about two psychologists (Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson) who study and befriend a young woman Nell (Jodie Foster) at her lakeside log cabin. A product of potentially disturbing family circumstance that this film promptly glosses over, Nell speaks her own language and was raised basically without civilization. Of course, Nell proves to everyone in a bombastic climactic courtroom scene that she is in fact more civilized than so-called modern society. She frankly states in 'nellish' that modern men and women don't look each other in the eye, avoid genuine communication, and possibly every other unoriginal complaint about contemporary society. Yet, it all seems a bit absurd since Nell is clearly an ideal product of such a society- she's compliant, fun-loving, clean with Aryan good-looks, and can even play matchmaker! When she hooks up her doctors, the movie officially becomes about Neeson and Richardson gettin-it-awwwn and loses any facade of insight into the human condition. Whatever it had was facile to say the least though as it ignores the scary, violent, sexual, and basically id-centric depths of human nature. Time and time again, Nell comes across like a domesticated pet- one that desperately needs to be put down.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great movie for women, men and parents!
This is a wonderful, wonderful movie. And it is a great test of a relationship. Women, if your boyfriend or fiance is unwilling to watch this movie, or is not moved by it, dump him immediately and save yourself years and years of pain. If you are already married, get marriage counseling.

Guys, this is a great movie. Even if you prefer action movies to chick flicks, the woman you are with will be totally moved by the movie and that you watched it with her.

Parents, this is also a great movie for teenagers. Nell, played by Jodie Foster, has had no contact with anyone other than her now dead mother, so she has no sense of shame about her body. She is as free as a three year old in taking off her clothes to go swimming at night. Therefore, while there is nudity, there is no sexuality. And the nudity is not exploitive. (This is like the nudity you used to find on the pages of old National Geographics on articles about Africa.) On the balance, the sensitivity outweighs concerns about nudity, this may even be a way to spark conversation with your kids about puberty, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars intellectual viewers please
If you are one who only likes movies that are geared to viewers with a 13 minute attention span or if you don't like to think at all, please don't watch this movie.
But if not....this movie is a great! I love movies that show people who haven't experienced normal life because it allows us to take a deeper look at things and appreciate things that we overlook. Like standing in the breeze, or the colors of fruits.
Jodie Foster played this part perfectly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Different And Great
Jodie Foster, Liam Neeson, and Natasha Richardson star in the drama "Nell". The screenplay was wonderfully written. They take the audience into another world, which may seem unusual to many. Exploring a language and a lifestyle lived by only one person, everything stays heartfelt. That touch is never lost for a single second. Such feelings intensify as the courts try to take this life away from Nell. Everything said and done keeps the audience watching closely. Jodie Foster, who also produced, was rightfully nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Nell. Every drop of energy poured onto the character. This gives the movie the added emotion. Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson wonderfully play their roles as doctors protecting Nell from the hospital and the press. Their roles intensify greatly as Nell begins changing their lives forever. The great creativity of "Nell" makes this experience unforgettable. This is great viewing for all audiences. ... Read more

Toy Soldiers is a slick dose of high-concept absurdity, and lots of fun if you don't think about it afterward. Adapted from a novel by William P. Kennedy, it's got the swift momentum that's a specialty of screenwriter David Koepp, whose later credits include Jurassic Park and Spider-Man. Matching Koepp's narrative energy is director and cowriter Daniel Petrie Jr., who wrote Beverly Hills Cop, and whose big-screen career stalled after this crowd-pleasing debut. The hokey plot involves a class of prep-school misfits (led by Sean Astin and Wil Wheaton) who use their rebellious ingenuity to foil Colombian terrorists who've taken over their school. The lead villain (Andrew Divoff) demands the return of his extradited drug-lord father (one of the prep students is the residing judge's son), and the inevitable showdown provides a heady mix of nonsense, graphic violence, and military muscle. It shouldn't work but it does, especially if you've got a tolerance for Die Hard clones that barely pass inspection. --Jeff Shannon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!
This is absolutely the best film in history. Don't pay any attention to what the editorial reviewer said. It isn't nonsense at all. It was well constructed, well written, well thought out, and realistic. Sean Astin is an awesome actor. Did he get an Oscar for this? I hope he did because he deserved it as well as the rest of the cast, Keith Coogan, Wil Wheaton, and Louis Gassett. I remember watching this on tv years ago. I finally bought it on DVD at the mall. That was the only place I could find it. It was 20 bucks but well worth it. I bought it 3 days ago and I already watched it four times. It's intense, dramatic, sad, touching, thrilling, entertaining, funny, scary, unpredictable, and realistic. The reason why it was so realistic is because the military helped out in the making of this film. And in the movie nothing went perfect. I don't want to give it away for those who havent seen it. If you havent seen it you're really missing out. I highly recommend picking it up. It doesnt seem like it was made it 91. It's one of the best actions films ever made. It's intelligent and one of a kind. I don't think they have it for rent anymore. I hate when good movies aren't appreciated or remembered. This film is truly unforgettable and my movie collection is nothing without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, Those Daring Young Men . . . .
For action, teen hijinks and heroism, this movie is hard to beat. "Toy Soldiers" is full of boyish bravado and humor mixed with taut suspense and even tragedy. The writing is fine, the plot well-woven, and the acting terrific on the part of both the teenage and adult members of the cast.

A Colombian drug lord is extradited to America and his son is determined to get him back---at any cost. Luis Caldez hatches a cold-hearted scheme to kidnap the son of the man who will be the judge in his father's case. The boy attends a private school called St. Regis Academy, headed by Louis Gosset, Jr. as its dean.

The school, nicknamed The Rejects' Academy, contains a student body that consists of boys tossed out from other schools for disciplinary problems. These kids hate and defy authority routinely. Chief among the troublemakers are Billy Tepper(Sean Astin) and Joey Trotta(Wil Wheaton), who hatch a clever scheme to free the school from the terrorists. The ensuing twists and turns and near-misses work well to maintain the adrenalin level, which heightens when the bad guys kill one boy, whose father just happens to be the head of the New Jersey Mafia. This tragic event pushes the action up to a fever pitch as the angry mobster exacts his revenge in a fitting way. Some of the action seems a bit implausible, but that doesn't take away from the joyride of watching the boys defy their odious captors. The viewer almost pities the terrorists for what they've gotten themselves into by ticking off these toy soldiers.

The movie is enjoyable, with plenty of heart and fine acting. Sean Astin and Wil Wheaton are great as the head rebel and his partner in crime. Louis Gosset, Jr. demonstrates why he's an Oscar-caliber performer. Denholm Elliot is endearing as the gentle headmaster who maintains dignity throughout the menace. Andrew Divoff is creepy as the calculating and ultimately psychotic Luis Caldez. An uncredited Jerry Orbach gives an intense performance as the slain boy's father, evoking both loathing for his criminal career and compassion for his pain over the loss of his son. The rest of the cast is in excellent form, too, and carries the story forward.

All in all, this is a great flick for those who enjoy action, especially teenagers. There's plenty of foul language and graphic violence that are not for the sensitive of ears or stomach, but most viewers should find this one a great ride. Enjoy the exploits of those daring young men!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fan of Sean Astin

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Movie! Brock is awsome!
This movie stars a hott kid, Brock Pierce, Hes a really good young actor! It also has Sinbad and Zachary Ty Bryan from Home Improvement. It's basically about the First Kid (The president's son) trying to fit in at his new public school, it's really good!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny movie with excellent Sinbad
First Kid is a very funny movie that benefits greatly from Sinbad's performance. Secret Service agent Sam Simms is trying to get bumped up to the president but instead is assigned to Luke, the president's son. At first, Luke is your typical stuck-up annoying kid, but soon Simms and Luke begin to bond and have a legitimate friendship. Along the way there are certain problems but in the end all things turn out well. There are some very funny bits here with Sinbad including his running collection of colorful ties, teaching Luke how to dance, and many more. This is a good movie with a great part for Sinbad.

Sinbad plays Agent Sam Simms, the secret service agent assigned to the first kid. He is great throughout and easily the best part of the movie. Brock Pierce is also good as Luke Davenport, the First Kid who struggles to lead a normal life in the spotlight. The movie also stars Blake Boyd, Timothy Busfield, Robert Gillaume, Art LaFleur, and Zachary Ty Bryan. The DVD offers no extras, but the movie is worth a watch even with the lousy DVD. For a funny movie with a great performance by Sinbad, check out First Kid!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this film.
This film rules i would have hated to been luke stuck in his house and not allowed to go out with his friends.I really laughed at the bit where luke is asking the girl to the dance and his carers are in the bush telling him what to say and he copies everythink they say on some bits where he shouldnt.
I looked everywhere for this films so i bought it here and it rules!
love and kisses XXXEmilyXXX

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic
I felt sorry for that poor man in the wheel chair, when he did all that for something he wasn't involved in...

3-0 out of 5 stars Sinbads best movie
I think this is Sindbad's best movie because I wasnt really into Housegeast with him and Phil Hartman. this is about the first kid(Brock Pierce) and his bodyguard(Timohty Busfield) gets fired and the replacement is Sinbad(damn hilarious) and Sinbad teaches him the ways of being a man, he teaches him how to dance and have fun and talk to girls, who Pierce is in love with this girl but a bully pints over her played by Zachery Ty Bryan(Home Improvment's Brad). a fun and charming movie with a cute cast and Sinbad's best, and where the hell is Sinbad anyway, we dont see him often now, what the frizz happened to him? is he living on a deserted island or something? ... Gentle sentiment turns The Locket into an old-fashioned weeper for anyone who loved Driving Miss Daisy. It's not nearly as effective as that 1989 Oscar®-winner, but this Hallmark Hall of Fame production--adapted from the novel by Richard Paul Evans--has similar charms of its own, and its warm-hearted themes of love and compassion offer a welcomed alternative to network sex and violence. After caring for his terminally ill mother, an aspiring medical student named Michael (Chad Willett) works at a nursing home, where an elderly resident (Vanessa Redgrave) teaches him valuable lessons using her own past--and a long-lost love--to illustrate the importance of second chances. Their friendship, and an unexpected court trial, encourages Michael to reconcile with his estranged father (Terry O'Quinn), with the support of his loving fiancée (Marguerite Moreau). 5-0 out of 5 stars A great family film !!!
this movie is very good ! i love watching all the t.v. shows with Lassie and i love watching Lassie save poples lives ! i think "Marge and Bob" should get a life.... Tom Guiry is a great actor. and he does a great job playing Matt in the movie. so if you have not seen this movie... I WOULD SEE IT !! its a great movie for all ages !

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Family Film
I rented this video for my kids, ages 2 and 8, thinking it was the old-time Lassie flick. Was surprised to hear a comment about "Nintendo" early in the film, and references to skateboarding. But this modern remake is true to the story and my kids were thrilled with the movie, asking to see it again and again and also asking Santa for their own copy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Family Film!!!
Im usually an action comedy movie guy, but I saw this along time ago and I watched it a fews ago. This is a great film for the family and worth buying.

4-0 out of 5 stars Traditional Family Values
This movie is a refreshing updated version of good old Lassie family movies!! It is predictable in plot, but in a comfortable way. My 3 sons, aged 10 years old-3 1/2 years old, all enjoy this delightful show. It is hard to find a movie with traditional family values that entertains the whole family. A dog-lovers must have DVD!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Update of the Lassie Story
Very enjoyable update of the classic Lassie film, even if the villain of the piece is so stereotypical it's laughable (he uses guns and chews tobacco, so he must be a bad guy, right?). Gorgeous scenery and the kids aren't goodie-goodies but reasonably real children. Richard Farnsworth is wonderfully warm as the grandfather. ... Read more

In Black Knight, Martin Lawrence plays an amusement park employee who is magically transported back to medieval times and helps return a queen to her rightful throne (while learning some valuable lessons along the way). Despite the script's lack of logic and originality, Lawrence is an engaging performer, with a loose-limbed amiability that makes him most enjoyable company, even if he's not necessarily a better actor than most comedians. If Lawrence ever does a movie with a decent script, he might really have something; as it is we'll have to settle right now for the cheesy yet funny sight of Lawrence teaching a medieval band to play some Sly and Family Stone. --Bret Fetzer ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best role I have ever seen Burt Reynolds in!
I love this movie! I rented it on it's release date and watched it 3 times...Then I rented it again 2 weeks later so more of my family could see it! I found the story line and characters very moving. It is a real portrayel of faith, forgiveness, and the gift of grace! It is one of those movies that makes you laugh, makes you cry, and, perhaps most of all, makes you realize how important love and forgiveness is to each of us and to families in general. A truly uplifting, must see movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very inspiring and realistic!!!
The promos of this film state that this "...a soulful saga of redemption and forgiveness, played to perfection," and I couldn't agree more.

In one of his rare moments in films lately, Burt Reynolds portrays "Eli Zeal," a shopkeeper who learns about forgiveness and that is truly human to make mistakes. With an ensemble cast which includes April Grace, Whitman Mayo, Orlando Jones, Ja'net Dubois, and Anthony Lee, this is a marvelous film and it is filled with powerful performances from this cast.

The movie is heartwrenching and the music is equally phenomenal in its depiction of life in the deep South. Prepare yourself for some profound story telling. Highly recommended!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not exactly "Christian"!
If your idea of becoming a Christian is to be dunked in the baptismal waters, you might enjoy this movie. Otherwise, stay away from it. The main female character has a very rotten attitude, and her endless complaining gets old after a while. There is not word of her repenting or trusting the Lord for a change in attitude. She simply gets baptized, and we are supposed to believe that everything is different now.
I would recommend you try a different movie for entertainment or spiritual edification.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL Movie!
I can honestly say that "Waterproof" is one of the best films I have ever seen. It's what most people mean they say 'QUALITY'. Yes, this movie is QUALITY - and then-some. You can't go wrong if you buy this one. (It will actually improve your mind - I promise!)

4-0 out of 5 stars Very sweet very human
This is an adorable feel-good movie. The story begins with an armed robbery of a grocery in Washington D.C. A 10-year old African-American boy ends up shooting a somewhat elderly Jewish man. What follows is an poignant journey to Waterproof, LA--home of the boy's mother, and a place that offers both pain and healing. At its core, this is a story of redemption for all of the characters--and there are many.

Waterproof offers tender, yet sturdy spirituality. It points to truth as the ultimate medicine to heal troubled lives. While well-meaning lies unravel, truth brings pain and shame, but also freedom and hope.

The acting is powerful in its subtlety and believability. The characters let the plot and dialogue carry the story along, rather than forcing their talent to overshadow this incredible tale. There is emotion--real and dramatic--but its never shrill--never coerced.

The bottom line is that this is a family movie with strong story and acting. There is much here that will draw out discussion and thought. Buy, rent or borrow this film--but see it! ... Read more

Description

Hailed as a "rewarding gift" and "an unexpected pleasure," One Christmas is a timeless holiday treasure based on Truman Capote's bittersweet tale of a young boy's adventures with the father he's never known. It's a classic family story featuring acclaimed performances from an award-winning cast including the legendary Katharine Hepburn, Henry Winkler, Swoosie Kurtz and Julie Harris. It's Christmas 1930, and 8-year-old Buddy (T.J. Lowther) finds himself in New Orleans spending the holidays with his estranged father (Winkler). Leaving behind his Aunt Sook (Harris) and the peaceful Alabama country life, Buddy now endures a conniving, hard-living, deceitful, con man of a dad who seems to care more about fast buck scams than earning his son's affection. With Buddy looking for a relationship with his dad, and his dad looking for something real in a life of lies, the greatest thing they realize is that they have each other. 3-0 out of 5 stars "Reality Christmas"
"One Christmas" was a film I happened upon some years ago. I did not know that it had been a story or a play, etc. I viewed it because I was familiar with the talents of the late Kathrine Hepburn and the talented Henry Winkler.

The story is not typical Christmas fare, but it is more real than many of the idylic Christmas movies. It is a tribute to the truth that many people struggle 365 days a year--their imperfections not taking a holiday.

Anyone who enjoys the talents of Winkler/Hepburn will enjoy this film; it is not stellar, not is not neccesarily their best performance, but it is a nice piece of "reality Christmas", if you will.

1-0 out of 5 stars This Movie Is Horrible
This movie stinks...Henry Winkler is a bad actor and Hepburn is in full Parkinsons swing with her head moving and shaking like a dashboard ornament...it was too painful to view...and probably more painful to make...

2-0 out of 5 stars Way overrated!!
We love Christmas movies but this was probably our biggest disappointment thus far. Expectations were high with the quality of the stars (Hepburn, Winkler) and the writer, but the quality scenes were just too few and far between. I suspect that people who liked the movie loved the book where the characters were presumably better developed and more likeable. Not having read the book, I found that I just didn't like the people on the screen and by the time they finally get into the spirit of Christmas, I just didn't care! Take a pass on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Average DVD add-ons, magical cast
From a truly wonderful bittersweet story by Truman Capote (as has been said) comes an adequate adaptation with an all-star cast. Katharine Hepburm seems to be the central character and even if her acting may seem full of mannerisms to some, by now that is neither here nor there. Julie Harris and Henry Winkler rise above many past ill-choices, and the whole cast superbly gives life to what may come through as a Christmas cliché but is just that extra bit more that has us glued to the screen.
On my part, kudos to Katharine, Swoozie and Julie!

3-0 out of 5 stars Can you say Obsessed?
Can you say obsession? Blair Underwood plays a character named chance, who takes chances and becomes obsessed with his best friends wife after the tragic death of his wife and unborn child. Instead of mourning his late wife he resorts to stalking his best friends wife. For a while you have to wonder....did he really love his late wife. Watching chance go through his emotions, you feel sorry for him, then you get angry at him, then you start to truly hate him. So your own emotions go for a serious ride while watching this film. This movie is a modern Fatal Attraction. You will be riveted to your seat until the credits roll at the end of the film. There are some twists, and turns that will make you gasp!!! It's a movie you have to see!!! Good Cast, and Blair really showed his versatility in this film. Go Blair!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Movie
I went to the premier of this movie. I know the owner of the production company and was invited to go. I have seen this movie 3x. It is excellent and I have even bought the DVD. I absolutely love this version of the black Fatal Attraction. Blair Underwood was outstanding in his part. I highly recommend buying this for your DVD collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Movie deserved more than it received
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I remember receiving an email when the movie was to be released. However, it didn't receive any support and I don't think it was even in the theaters longer than a week. How unfortunate. This movie was excellent. Just goes to show how the media down plays black actors, writers and producers. If you can sit and watch "28 Days Later" (which is an absolute mess of a movie) shame on you for not supporting this suspenseful drama. This movie shall become a part of my personal collection. THE BOMBDIGITY FOR SURE.

1-0 out of 5 stars Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus!!!
This movie was as easy to get through as a Mexican check fuxxy! Why on earth would The Chancellor play a ring-of-fire match when he knew he'd be bird-eyed the entire time? Talk about a grade A crumble! Also, as a doctor of Frozenometry and Levular Dynamics, I will be the first to say that the ensunderment portrayed in this film is scientifically impossible. I move to debunk!

4-0 out of 5 stars wooosh
this movie really cast me Asunder. At times it seemed as if the actors were speaking in a combination of morse code and tourette's syndrome. Very hard to follow. But, alas, the overall ensunderment value exceeds 25 cosmic units. which will you choose, death or glory? see this movie and find out. ... Read more

Description

Doug is a Dawg, right down to the license plate on his sports car. He's cool, he's carefree, and he loves women - plenty of women. They love him too, until the day he disappears in a cloud of exhaust. But all that changes the day Anna comes along. Anna is about to change Doug's life with news of an inheritance that can be his on one condition: He must track down the women he has betrayed and get them to say "I forgive you." Doug is game - but will they be? Anna and the women in Doug's life are about to try and teach this dog some new tricks. And they don't start with the phrase "lie down." ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I had hoped. DOUBLE WHAMMY is much better.
*DAWG* The chemistry just isn't as good in DAWG as it is in DOUBLE WHAMMY(which also stars Denis Leary and Elizabeth Hurley). In DAWG they're way too opposite with conflicting agendas that they never made that love connection like I kept expecting. It just left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the movie. I must admit there's a pretty good twist that I didn't see coming. But, looking back, it's kind of obvious. I just wasn't looking for it, I kept thinking they would fall in love or something like that. Sometimes a good twist can save a movie, for me, but it didn't warrant enough bite for me to appreciate the entire movie.
Anyway, it's not a horrible movie, it's just not as good as DOUBLE WHAMMY. Perhaps, if I'd seen DAWG first, I may have liked it better. But I doubt it, seeing DOUBLE WHAMMY 2nd would have simply persuaded me back to this original conclusion anyway. I wouldn't recommend it unless you get it at a deep-discounted price.

4-0 out of 5 stars A fun movie...
This is a fun movie with a great acting duo between Dennis Leary and the beautiful Elizabeth Hurley... Leary plays this womanizing male chauvinist who has to track down 12 of his former 'kills' and get them to say 'I forgive you' in order to collect on his dead grandmothers inheritance of $1,000,000. Liz Hurley plays his grandmothers lawyer who tags along to witness the 'I forgive you's.

The movie blends a nice mix of comedy with a few touches of sappy moments.

Gals- You'll probably like this movie, but I don't think it's a 'crying' movie

Guys- No, it's not that much of a chick flick. It's got Dennis Leary in it- do you really think he'd do a chick flick??? Besides- if you get bored with the plot Liz Hurley makes for some mighty nice scenery to focus on for awhile... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Satisfactory southern potboiler
I discovered this movie on the TV while channel surfing and was pleasantly surprised. I am a Kelly McGillis fan (ever since Witness) and I thought I'd give it a try. Billy Zane is also a good and yet underappreciated actor. He plays one of a trio of escapees from a prison farm in 1950s Louisiana. They seek refuge in the remote home of a middle-aged woman who has been living like a hermit since her father died.
The character Kelly plays is frumpy and eccentric. She has the opportunity to escape from the clutches of these bumbling escaped cons, but she is determined to stay at her house and work in her garden. Zane is the compassionate one of the three, and he prevents the bully in the bunch from molesting Kelly. In quite a funny scene, Kelly inflicts further injury on the whiney one of the bunch.
The cons lie low while the police search the vicinity, having to deal with a traveling preacher, Kelly's nosey sister who pops in from time to time, and the blind man who delivers her groceries. You know some characters are going to come to an untimely demise. Meanwhile, affections develop between Zane and McGillis. She started to look hot even in her frumpiness.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jail Break
This was a surprisingly interesting film set in the 60's about 3 escapees, one of whom is dangerous (Rollins), one of whom is lovable (Zane) and the other who is annoying (guy from "Roseanne").

It's one of those gems that was overlooked by critics, but can easily be enjoyed by romance and drama fans.

Loved it!

2-0 out of 5 stars I spent how much on this? Damn.
If you want to admire Henry Rollins' bare behind, watch this movie. Everything else is a waste of time. "Morgan's Ferry" is painfully slow and dry, leaving its otherwise talented cast deficient of an engaging plot, believable character relationships or interesting dialogue. The dragging story makes the viewer wish for an explosion, or anything, to make it stop, instead of lumping along into the uneventful end.
Also, it is pointless to watch the DVD version, there are virtually no special features; there aren't even chapters, just one long run.

5-0 out of 5 stars A touching story
"Morgan's Ferry" - a touching story well told and well filmed. I enjoyed the film thoroughly and am going to buy the DVD. If you liked Fried Green Tomatoes and films about the American South, you will love "Morgan's Ferry". Kelly McGillis and Billy Zane have given good performances. When I've purchased the DVD, it's going to be in my collection of my all-time favorite movies.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointingly Dull
Slow boiler about a group of prison escapees who are stranded at a depressed single woman's home has little to offer and takes way to long to do that. ... Read more

Buy, rent or borrow this film--but see it! ... Read more
