Charlie's Angels: The Complete Second Season has no shortage of the good-natured cheese and eye candy that made the primetime television show's debut season wildly popular in 1976. The Angels had a new look in their second year: Farrah Fawcett, arguably the most popular of the show's three actresses, departed before the sophomore season and was replaced by another blonde dazzler, Cheryl Ladd. (Ladd's character, Kris Munroe, was the younger sister of Fawcett's Jill Munroe, whose exit is explained in the premiere episode as a liberated woman's career move: Jill has decided to race cars in Spain.)

No sooner does Kris settle in than a crisis sweeps through off-screen Charlie's private investigation agency. While cavorting on Oahu in the two-part "Angels in Paradise," Charlie is kidnapped by a smuggler (France Nuyen), who demands the Angels break her husband out of jail in exchange for their boss's life. Bubbly Kris, brainy Sabrina Duncan (Kate Jackson), beauteous Kelly Garrett (Jaclyn Smith), and sidekick Bosley (David Doyle) are compelled to soak up rays and sip fruity mixed drinks in Waikiki while fighting crime in various guises, re-establishing, for another season, Charlie's Angels' dramatic and aesthetic game plan for every episode: start slow with lots of idle chatter, put the girls in a ridiculous undercover situation, and get them out of their clothes as much as possible.

The pattern continues in the silly "Angels on Ice," starring old hands Phil Silvers and Jim Backus, in which our heroines join an ice show to find out who kidnapped a pair of skaters. "Pretty Angels All in a Row" finds Kelly and Kris reluctant entrants in a "Miss Chrysanthemum Pageant" (no, you won't find Kate Jackson in a swimsuit this year, either) rigged by organized crime. "Circus of Terror," co-starring James Darren, enlists the Angels in the carney life. If there is anything to complain about regarding season 2, it is that the novelty of Charlie's Angels has worn a little thin, and every episode feels the same. Still, there are surprises: "The Sammy Davis Jr. Kidnap Caper" stars the late rat-packer in peril and much bemused by the presence of three comely bodyguards.--Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars PERSONAL FAV
This is my personal favorite season as my favorite angel is and will always be Cheryl Ladd as Kris Munroe. I find her stunning and a great replacement for Farrah. I like the episodes in this season quite a bit more than the first season.

The picture quality is pretty good, the first few episodes show their age well with lots of scratches in the film etc but don't let that discourage you from buying this set. The sound is very good and the packaging is great! Instead of having to fold out all of the dvds on a couch or the floor you open it like a book here and each dvd flips like a page in a book! Simply amazing set! Can't wait for season 3!

5-0 out of 5 stars Season 2 At Last...
I have to say that I love Charlies Angels and have all the episodes taped from the TV (even the 4th and 5th seasons) and bought Season 1 when it came out as soon as it hit the shelves so I stumbled onto this little gem by accident an pre-ordered it at once. Does anyone know what the extra's are if any the last box set had very little but the picture quality was excellent and the sound fab!.
as for season 2 i feel of the Kate Jackson Seasons this is the weakest thats not to say it is not excellent but I prefer season 3 and season 1 will always be a classic...
For me there is way to much slap-stick style humor in this season with episodes like "The Sammy Davis Jnr Kidnap Caper" "Pretty Angels All In A Row" and "The Jade Trap" being good examples of this though the latter is not a bad episode.
Also "Angel in the Wings" is truly an awful episode (yes I know Cheryl Ladd can sing but to build a whole episode around it....).
Moan outta the way there are mostly good eps standouts are the baby selling racket of "Angel Baby" the Angels trapped on a Plane with the pilot out for the count in "Angel Flight" The Psyco killers of "The Sandcastle Killer" "Little Angels Of the Night". all in all well worth buying but i cannot wait for season 3....(Will they do 4&5 I wonder)

4-0 out of 5 stars Imagine Sabrina wherever she goes . . .
The second season of Charlie's Angels is interesting at first because it includes the first change in the series' cast. Once you get over that (and it is not lingered upon by the characters), the second season is much more enjoyable than the first, with the Angels involved in some off-the-beaten-track locales (an antique-car rally, a circus, Sammy Davis Jr.'s Hollywood mansion, a football field) and indulging in some good comedy. The cases seem more varied, though, as in season one, each episode involves a change of venue. The Angels, however, have a wider range of undercover assignments; we expect them to play prostitutes, but Jaclyn Smith's pose as an alien, Cheryl Ladd's disguise as a Swedish film star, and Kate Jackson's turns as a bag lady and a farm boy are true surprises.

The most successful episodes are those that don't follow the usual Angels pattern; that is, a crime followed by a briefing by Charlie, then off to solve the crime. Consequently, the best episodes include The Sandcastle Murders and Hours of Desperation. Some episodes have great setups (Angel Blues, Angels on the Run) that turn altogether conventional, and some (Angels in the Wings, Angel Flight, Angels in the Backfield) are obvious from beginning to end and are perfectly dreadful as a result. The best episode of the season is the season opener Angels in Paradise, with its many twists and turns, its sumptuous locale, and its well-conceived villainess (played by France Nuyen). The first runner-up is the hilarious Pretty Angels All in a Row.

This second season is a showcase for Kate Jackson. Smith, though she does some good work, disappears into the woodwork far too often in this collection. Ladd does some surprisingly good work as well, but Jackson outshines the others in terms of range. She does some outstanding work in Angel in Love, and her French designer disguise in Magic Fire is so obviously bad that it cannot be taken seriously and touches the heights of hilarity. Far more interesting is her come-on to an executive in The Sandcastle Murders -- the writers don't allow us to see how she gets out of what has plainly become a steamy situation, which is unfortunate. She also does the bubble-head routine in Angels in Paradise, a characterization usually reserved for the other Angels. Nobody shakes down a criminal like Sabrina, and immediately following her empty-headed interplay with Mr. Blue, Jackson gets down to business with her customary cool.

Though there are no commentaries, no subtitles, and no extras (except for yawningly boring trailers of the Charlie's Angels movies), I recommend this collection as better than the first season. However, I may have reached my Angels limit; we'll see what kind of mood I am in when season 3 comes out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Charlie's Angels Rules!
I bought this as soon as it came out. Of all the Angels Cheryl Ladd was my favorite. Reading and earlier review it stated that Kate Jackson (Sabrina) and Cheryl Ladd (Kris) didn't get along. When you watch you can see it. Most of Ladd's scenes were with Jaclyn Smith (Kelly). But still this was a great series. I remember in college rushing home to watch it on WGN who showed the whole series in chronological order.
I can't wait for seasons 3-5.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once Upon a Time....
Once upon a time...there was this great show with gorgeous Kate Jackson (who received Emmy nominations/not Grammy's), lovely Jaclyn Smith, and cute Cheryl Ladd, and of course, don't forget sidekick Bosely (David Doyle). Even though Farrah left in the second season, Cheryl Ladd, as her sister, filled the seat. Give her(Cheryl Ladd) credit for being the follow up to that! The new DVD set is excellent! Kate shines without the Farrah phenonmenon and Jaclyn is radiant as ever! The new trio in the second season made the show stronger, and it is evident in this DVD set. Only downside is knowing that Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd did not get along with one another. Knowing this now, I'm constantly watching their interaction between each other as actresses. It's subtle...but who cares, the second season know doubtingly deserved higher ratings then the first season. I would recommend this DVD for any TV enthusiasist. I can not wait, and hopefully, the third season, and (yes) fourth season with chic Shelley Hack (I actually liked her character~they should have kept her), and the street-wise Tonya Roberts will be released soon on DVD too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars LOVERBOY ON DVD!!!
This movie is an halirious comedy of the 80s. Its about a guy(Patrick Dempsey, who has a girlfriend and he gets a job as a pizza delivery guy, the only thing is that the deliveries he makes arent just a pizza its a little fun with the opposite sex. The movie is halirious, he ends up even making a delivery to his mom(ALMOST). Colombia/Tristar pictures needs to bring this back on DVD!!! We should beg Colombia/Tristar pictures to bring this back, private resort, and just one of the guys, all on DVD. They need to be put on DVD, for us 80's fans.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stupid
What I don't get is how people liked this movie, despite its paper-thin jokes and some cameos by famous actresses (Kirstie Alley, Carrie Fisher).

The thing is, it's only very mildly amusing (and I do put emphasis on very mildly). You'll get bored and want something fresher and funnier. If you want to see a good Patrick Dempsey movie, try "With Honors." It's a lot better than the idiotic mess that "Loverboy" was made from. The only reason for the second star was that it ended and it had the latter mentioned actresses in it.

Rated PG-13 for language and sexual innueudos.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great movie, terrible price
I love this movie, it's an 80's classic in my opinion. Patrick Dempsey is absolutely adorable as the teen who mistakenly falls into the line of being a male gigalo. Unfortunately, I cannot bring myself to pay this price for a DVD with absolutely no extras. What were they thinking?!?!? For now I'll just rent this movie and wait for the day that the price drops. Too bad....I was looking forward to buying it.

5-0 out of 5 stars great 80's fun
love this movie. represents what was great about 80's comedies. great soundtrack, silly storyline, and loads of fun.
since when did everything get so serious? this movie doesn't pretend to solve any social problems, it simply makes you laugh.
THAT is what i liked about this flick and what i love about it and other movies of it's genre. don't see it if you take yourself to freakin seriously, but if you want a good time, it's well worth a look!

5-0 out of 5 stars FINALLY REISSUED AND ON DVD AS WELL!!!!!!!

Kate Jackson ("Charlie's Angels") stars as Dr. Nora Hart in this shocking story that finds modern-day New York City threatened by a disease more devastating than AIDS, cancer and heart disease combined. 5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Fine For A Made-For-TV Movie
Not being much of an aficiando of this made-for-TV genre of disaster film, I was pleasantly surprised by this DVD, bought at a recommendation from a friend. The premise is clever and even somewhat plausible: The Black Death---alias the bubonic plague---resurfaces in the modern world in New York City. By the time the pathogen is identified, several cases have already erupted and the city's health officials are really worried that an epidemic looms on the horizon. Their efforts to find those exposed and to contain the spread of the dangerous disease are stymied by politicians afraid of the impact this "inconvenience" might have on the city's tourism. Fortunately, the infected are tracked down and the threat ended, but not before some people lose their lives.

The movie has a reasonably good feel, sometimes teetering a little close to histronics, but the situations and characters seem pretty authentic. There are, of course, some cliches---the crusading doctors versus the slimy politicos, for example. Yet even these are handled well, thanks to the professionalism of the cast. Kate Jackson emotes well as Dr. Nora Hart, the point physician in the effort to quell the disease, while Jeffrey Nordling as Dr. Prescott provides solid support combined with small-town naivete. Al Waxman handles the thankless role of the mayor, bringing to this potentially cardboard role some depth. Howard Hesseman is indescribably creepy as an infected congressman who sickens his mistress and abandons her in a hospital emergency room. As the head of the city's health department, Jerry Orbach (Dr. Vincent Callafato) brings realism to the part, going from skepticism to full support of Dr. Hart's team as soon as he realizes the severity of the situation. Those who play the victims bring pathos to the movie, putting a human face on the suffering, especially Alma Martinez, who portrays a health worker who develops the illness despite preventive measures. She commits suicide, placing a sticker on herself that reads "Warning: Infectious Substance/ Biohazard". This is one of the saddest scenes in the movie.

All in all, this isn't top-notch, but then it wasn't made for theater release, and certainly didn't have the budget of a big movie. These factors considered, this is a decent suspense film, quite entertaining and evoking some genuine emotions in the viewer. Good cast, good writing, reasonable production . . . overall, good entertainment and worth the time and money invested. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Animal Movie
My son and I really enjoyed this movie! It is heartwarming, inspiring, and spiritually thought provoking; albeit somewhat predictable at times. The really big plus is that the plot is believable and did not anthropomorphasize (give the dogs human traits/capabilities a la Stuart Little and Chiken Run)the dogs. Animal Lovers will rejoice.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's a miracle this dog made it to video...
I caught this stinker on Animal Planet, and found myself longing for re-runs of anything else that this previously respected cable broadcaster might have in their vaults. Now, to find that it's being released to video is the final insult to the integrity of the home entertainment industry. Oh wait, it's from UAV video, the company that specializes in producing ultra-low-end "knock-off's" of legitimate Disney films. What film are they copying from with Miracle Dogs? Perhaps next time they should copy a film with an interesting plot and talented actors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Our dog was an extra in this movie!
Our dog, Karli, was an extra in this movie for one of the scenes filmed at the Humane Society. We had adopted her and someone told us that several months later, so we just had to buy the movie. I'm hoping the extra scenes and "making of" part will have more of our dog in it. Of course, I would highly recommend you purchase this movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars wholesome family fun
This was a heartwarming movie that I enjoyed with my whole family. It was tender and funny and the dogs were really cute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Biased but still a great movie
I am the owner of the pups but still the movie itself stands on its own merits. Cute and a good family movie it is an enjoyable story. The pups are adorable as well and I feel like a proud father. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good story but poor production.
I like movies about airplanes and because of that I have several of these movies and one of those is this one.
The cover and the tittle of the movie make you think it's good but there's nothing good in it.
The story is interesting but what makes the movie very bad, is the poor, poor production. The set that it's supposed to be a Boeing 747 with 400 people looks like a very small plane (you'll only see inside the airplane like 25 people during the whole movie). The special effects are terrible, you'll see the airplane fyling but no with a close image and you'll see it like for 2 seconds. The airplane that they use changes from name and colors all the time, then when something good is going to happen they just change the image and put the sound so they wouldn't make a scenery for that scene. Anyway if you like a good movie, just don't get this one, you'll get bored because as I said. The story is interesting but the special effects are so bad that you'll get bored.
Finally I'd like to say that I don't understand how Kate Jackson (Charlie's angels) acepted to be in this low budget movie with all the success that she had in her career.

1-0 out of 5 stars total utter nonsense!!!!!!
this is pure drivel!!!!!clearly there was some kind of argument behind this film;like the director wasnt given enough money to make it,so he thought, you know what,im going to spite the film company by making a hideousely awful film, that'll show them.the "plot",if i can re-tell it without vomiting,is thus:a plane is struck by lightning, and kills all the pilots..............i kind of lost what was going on after that......the ending,if there actually was one,was that whatever predicament they were in,they got out of.where can i begin?????clearly no one involved with this project has any knowledge of basic physics,as they'd have pointed out that this ISNT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!im a little bit rusty on my physics, but isnt it called a faraday coil???if not then forgive me,my minds a little indestinct, but the main point is a bolt of lightning wont pass through a plane. "what about the glass,it passed through the glass window!!!" you bark smugly, well thick glass used for this wouldnt allow electric current to pass through it.think about it people, you ever been hit by lightning indoors??have you ever heard of this happening in real life before??NO,BECAUSE IT CANT!!!!!! well done, you're learning.anyway, enough of the banter, the film struggles from then on in.for some bizzare reason the plane operated by a laptop, the cable(??!!) for which has broken.it only works by some guy holding it with venom.factor into this some wierd pregnant woman type nonsense, some shouting passengers/helpful people arguing rubbish,a hint of romance between a "criminal" and a "female human being",and you have this godawful tripe of a film.some wonderfully hilarious moments.guy says "i skipped bail","are you a criminal?" she asks!!!!!! well of course he is you stupid fool,he just told you!!!! any time there was "turbulence" the camera was wobbled about a bit,and the "actors" moved around unconvincingly.the terrible news report segments, where hilarity prevailed every time.the bit when the dog jumped out the car, that was brilliant!!!!he pushed it over a bit then it was half dead...then later he gave the oxygen mask, great!!!!! all the scenes involving the radar room, they were something else!!!!the ending also, the rubbish CGI aeroplane, what a laugh!!!!i could go on and on and on,pointing out rubbish but funny things about this film, but i think ive said enough.in short, dont come to watch this if you want a coherent engaging film.but if you enjoy laughing through mind-bogglingly bad trash, then this is definately for you!!!! i laughed nearly all the way through it,so at least it was entertaining.1 out of 5.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Expect Too Much
You may enjoy this movie, if you know nothing about the airplane, or if you are extremely weak for machinery.
This movie has no reality from the beginning to the end.
Plot is poor.
I do not recommend this.

2-0 out of 5 stars What could have been good went downhill from the start!
While films about airplane disasters and hijackings have gotten more and more unpopular, this is probably a good example of why. When I saw the ad for this on TV, I thought "oh cool, lightning strikes a plane... must be some interesting story"... WRONG! The film is not at all believable. The outside shots of the plane differ throughout the movie.. I think I counted 3 different styles. A laptop controlling a 747? A wire hanging through the cabin after the lightning forces the plane to react violently?

I'm a fan of the Airport films, and I liked recent ones like Executive Decision, the first Turbulence movie, and a few others in this genre. But this film was a big disappointment. Kate Jackson's performance was credible, but the remaining cast was pretty terrible. There's too many plotholes and credibility faults to recommend this film. If you want a good air-scare film, check out one of the Airport films or one of the ones I mentioned.

I give this film 2 stars because, while it did have too many faults and isn't really worth watching when there are other films to choose from, the film had it's few moments of holding my attention.

Check out another air disaster movie if you want to have an enjoyable experience!

5-0 out of 5 stars double trouble
Royce Air International, flight 115 to London Heathrow is in trouble.A lighting strikes the cockpit during take off causing an electral fire which kills the pilot[Fred Henderson]and the rest of the flight crew.Laurie Ann[Kate Jackson]is forced to help the pasengers as she and Brett Young[Ed Marinano]race to engage the auto pilot. But when the aircraft starts to head west, the plane begins to lose fuel fast. On the ground the athorities must choose to shoot the plane down over a deserted area or try to find a solution before the plane crashes in a populated city causing 1,000 more deaths. With no radio contact can they save the 747-300 from disaster? ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Overblown inanity
Here's a film that tries so hard to be a satire it misses the mark by way over a mile. Meant to ridicule a dozen or so inane LA types, the film itself winds up being ridiculously inane. Characters include:

a self-absorbed British black man who runs for mayor of the city and wins
two self-absorbed young guys who love dressing up and killing people
three self-absorbed sexy girls who chatter endlessly and go to lots and lots of parties
one big fat self-absorbed crude older guy who wallows in his crude self-absorption
and our hero, Nick, whose own self-absorption leads him from selling underwear in NY City to posing as an upcoming artist

Good satires bring out the substance of the film--the satire--with sharp punchy interaction between the characters. That's nowhere in evidence here. The only interaction that occurs between the characters is typically dopey and one-dimensional and stale. You get tired pretty fast watching this film because no effort's been made to flesh out any character at all by making him/her real. Because a film is a satire does not mean that the characters are shallow and meaningless, but that seems to be the modus operandi here.

If by giving all characters that personality the filmmaker wants to show how shallow LA itself is, he should look to L.A. Story, Steve Martin's far more successful parody of LA. While not a great film, L.A. Story does have some very funny scenes that illustrate the superficiality that LA is (e.g., the scene at the outdoor cafe with everyone ordering ridiculous variations of a latte).

The good scenes in L.A. Story work because there is convergence of the characters on a point of satire. In Larceny, there is very little if any convergence. The film goes from one damn thing to another, hoping the viewer will laugh at the random shots the film/filmmaker takes at whatever and whoever he finds to take a shot at.

With much sharper writing this could have been a better film.

3-0 out of 5 stars Offbeat parody of life in LA
Larceny is a film that rehashes some very familiar comedic cliches about Los Angeles. Yet, despite its flaws, I enjoyed the film's quirky energy and willingness to be silly and bizarre. Joshua Leonard plays Nick, a young man who works in a mall and has no particular direction in life. When he takes an art class to impress the cute teacher, his complete lack of talent quickly exposes him. So, when his cousin Chris (Andy Dick) invites him to stay at his Beverly Hills mansion, he has nothing to lose. Nick finds all kinds of absurd and sometimes amusing adventures on the West Coast. The parodies of airhead wannabee actresses, hipsters who constantly talk on their cell phones and a life dominated by cars, cafes and parties has certainly been portrayed before (most notably perhaps in L.A. Story), but Larceny does have its moments and has a zany edge lacking in most mainstream films. The rapper Heavy D is quite funny as Charlie, a playboy with no visible means of support. Cousin Chris turns out to be a nutcase who is convinced a serial killer is targeting him. Chris demands that Nick find the killer, which leads to all kinds of improbable scenarios. The running joke of the film is that the talentless Nick must pose as a famous New York artist and no one in the celebrity-crazed LA culture questions this. The story, such as it is, fizzles out at the end, with explanations that don't make sense when earlier scenes are recalled (of course, many films with much bigger budgets also have this shortcoming). Overall, Larceny is an entertaining film that would have been even better with a little more focus on the script. The cast also has Kate Jackson as Nick's mother and Bellamy Young as Kiki, a reporter who is a romantic interest for Nick. ... Read more
