Description

Here's the latest chapter in the popular film trilogy, starring Jason James Richter (FREE WILLY) as Bastian, a teenager whose life is turned upside down when his father remarries. On his first day at a new school, Bastian is chased by a vicious gang called the Nasties. He hides in the school library where he finds a magic book that writes itself according to the imagination of the reader. To escape the Nasties (and his troubles at home), Bastian wishes himself into Fantasia, the storybook's phantasmic world of incredible creatures. It's here, away from the pressures of the real world, that Bastian thinks he's safe. But when the Nasties take control of the book, his Fantasian friends get stuck on earth, and it's up to Bastian to save them. And in order to do that, he must defeat the Nasties! With great music by some of your favorite rockers, this awesome fantasy-adventure celebrates the joy of reading and the magic books create within our own imagination! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Most Misunderstood Story
I read the novel Neverending story and also enjoyed the first movie. The first two series of Neverending story are based on Michael Ende's masterpiece juvenile literature. This one is purely original story using the theme and characters from this book. The first movie was so successful that the very concept of the original story is left neglected. Second and third series tried to get things right only in vain. Fantasia is a creation of human mind so when we changes the story changes that is what neverending story is. Auryn is as second series nicely put it, not a magic stick. Third series is no exception. Bastian's new sister used Auryn to buy what she wanted then the side effect was their newly-wed parents are in danger of divorce. This story's not a fantasy story at all. It is more real than you imagine. It is too bad a time to make neverending story movie at all during dark 90s. Maybe this time will be more acceptable to have another series. First movie is outstanding but just be back to reality. Its theme has unending stories to make. We are part of neverending story so just let new things add to let fantasia alive.

1-0 out of 5 stars This one really doesn't end!
I got this movie because I was a big fan of the first two, and I expected this one to be great. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. This movie should never have start production. It is geared too much toward little kids, but I doubt even little kids would be amused by it. The plot has Bastian returning to Fantasia to escape "The Nasties", which is some sort of gang. The Fantasia in this movie is very different from the one in the first two. It looks a lot less inviting, and they really screwed up all the beauty that Fantasia possessed in the first two movies. They turn the Childlike Empress into a joke, who even contemplates using the Auryn to go shopping! Michael Ende would die of shame if he were still alive. They turned his wonderful idea into one big joke. This movie should never have seen the light of day.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOTHING LOWER THAN 1 STAR ?
Just saw this movie on WAM today 4/10/04. Can't believe that someone didn't stop production on this film EARLY in the making. What a waste. Hope to have better luck with the "Tales" series. Love the first two from the original series... stick with those. This movie lacks Heart. Don't really care that the special effects are poor in any movie that has genuine feeling. I can't imagine it taking long (possibly a week) to make this film. BOO!

1-0 out of 5 stars BIG Dissapointment....
This movie is a dishoner not only to The Neverending Story but to Michael Ende himself. He didn't even like the original movie, imagine what he would think of this trash. This movie lacks good acting, a decent plot, decent special effects, and consistancy with the first two. The Auryn is some ugly twisted black thing that looks NOTHING like in the first two nor does it have even a SLIGHT resemblence to the one in the book. Non of the characters appear as they did in the first two, and Falkor has been turned in to a stupid scardy cat. Heck, the rock biter has a musical number and a wife with a heavy Russian accent if that gives you ANY clue as to how utterly BAD this movie is. The third installment is a shame for so many reasons. It doesn't fit the style or feel of the first two, and it also prevents there from being a 4th. What they need to do is scrap this entire movie and make a better NES 3. I will NOT be purchasing this movie in any form, I can promise you that. Stick with the original Movie, and the Tales From The Neverending Story series, those are the best we have gotten so far.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Only Thing Good Was..........
The fact that the kick ass number 1 hit single Crash! Boom! Bang! by Roxette is played at the beginning og this film. Other than that, this film is absoultly terrible, save your money!!!! ... Read more

Description

At the end of each school year young Morris "Mud" Himmel and his friends are unceremoniously packed off by their parents to summer camps that specialize in computer programming, military training, or calorie counting. However, this summer Morris and his clever cohorts have determined to create their own vacation haven. And with help from out-of-work high school drama teacher Dennis Van Welker (Christopher Lloyd) -- who passes himself off to each of the kids' parents as the owner of different phony theme camps -- the kids fabricate an elaborate scheme to take control of their summer. With no counselors, no rules or parental supervision, calamity prevails as the teens turn a rented group of dilapidated cabins near a leech-filled lake into the wildest, video game-filled, junk food eating and unencumbered summer camp a parent would never allow his kids to attend; in short -- the best camp in the world. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Camp Nowhere --- Way cool
I recently rented Camp Nowhere. Best movie I have seen in my life. It is SO funny. It is all about this group of four teens {two girls, two boys} whos parents are making them go to summer camps in which they do not want to go. They find Dennis Van Wilker {Christopher Lloyd} and they scam thir parents into this camp. Along with many other kids, all summer this "camp" which is really just a big party, goes great. In August, all the parents want a Parents Day, so they pull of "the GREATEST scam of all time" At the end, the truth is revealed, nothing bad happens. The whole movie, Mudd and Gabby have a little crush going on and wont admit it to each other but at the end Mudd and Gabby have a nice wet kiss.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great movie, and why!
What's a kid's greatest dream? A summer of all play and no work, lot's of evenly-mixed friends, and plenty of money to to burn... In Camp Nowhere, this actually comes true. A geeky kid called Mud, along with three other friends (two girls and another boy, by the way), gets his hands on megabucks, hires Dennis, a funny ex-drama teacher, actor, and often saviour, and rents out a camping spot complete with cabins, lake... The ex-hippie Dennis fools all four pairs of parents into sending their kids to four different "camps" (military, computer, weight-loss, and drama) but actually in one: Camp Nowhere. But soon, their orginally intended number of four turns to the dozens, as a loud-mouthed kid trumpets to the entire youth.

Soon their fun is in full swing: everything from water-guns to a 61" TV is theirs. Not to mention sweet puppy love... But trouble arises as most of the parents declare they're coming to visit for Parent's Day! So, as Mud says, they begin to pull off the greatest scam of all time...

Unlike many other movies, every instant and adventure in fun and engaging. A really fun and enjoyable movie, especially during summer vacation.

(I saw it on a government station, so some parts might have been censored, though highly unlikely...)

2-0 out of 5 stars could have been good
There was a possibility of a very good movie here with good acting, talented kids, etc. Unfortunately , as in many kids movies these days, the parents are stereotyped as blithering idiots, and the kids have to go it on their own. The cursing gets out of hand for a family movie, and gets worse as the movie continues. I didn't finish watching it. Christopher Lloyd is great though and it does have it's funny moments ( if you had TV Guardian to block all the foul language that is!)

5-0 out of 5 stars the greatest
I've seen this movie a million times and I still love it. IT has such a cute plot jsut the idea goin away for the summer with no parents doin whatever gets u into the summer spirit

3-0 out of 5 stars A review from thirtysomething
I have been reading the reviews, most of which are obviously written by teenagers or preteens.
My husband, also 30something, tuned into this on cable the other night. and we both sat and watched the whole thing. It's "Lord of the flies" set in modern day, but much more fun to watch.

Christopher Lloyd, best known as "Reverend Jim" on t.v. show Taxi, and "Doc Brown" in the Back to the Future movies is the only known star that shows up in most of the movie. He plays the authority figure throughout the film when the parents' aren't.

It's a "let's see how much we can get away with while the parents aren't looking" movie. and I have to admit, it was pretty cool..Both my husband and i were thinking: That is cool..I wish I could've done that. It's a fantasy for younger teens. Basically, some rich kids pool all their summer camp money together and create their own fantasy camp and their parents think that they are all at the camps they were originally supposed to go to for the summer: fat camp, computer camp, drama camp.. instead, it's just 'HAVE FUN ALL SUMMER camp..OR Camp Nowhere at some run down land that Lloyds' character finds.
The teens all come together and help Lloyd from going to jail.
It's a cute little film that certainly isn't one of the most classic of the teen genre, but certainly is entertaining enough.
A lot of silliness goes on, and eventually chaos!!! the parents want parents day..of course, they have to get caught eventually, right?
check it out... ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Learn from History
Louis Gossett, Jr. is the star of Carolina Skeletons and gives his usual excellent performance as a man returning to his small South Carolina town in 1964 who is asked by his dying mother to prove that his older brother executed thirty years previous was wrongly accused. Carolina Skeletons is a made-for-television movie that is somewhat lacking in some of the production values of more expensively produced films. It has several scenes that come to a dramatic climax and then fade to black. I found myself expecting commercials. The movie is worthy of attention because it reminds us of the unjust treatment of African Americans in our country - especially in the South. As citizens, we must always be aware of injustice in order that it be identified and vanquished. ... Read more
