But enough about last night's party. Director Richard Lang's THE MOUNTAIN MEN is a rough-and-tumble yarn depicting the fur trapping industry's final days in the pristine splendor of the northern Rockies. Even in such a remote region, the demand back East for top hats made of beaver skin resulted in the virtual extinction of the buck-toothed rodents in their mountain habitats; on top of that, silk hats were rapidly becoming the fashion craze, creating even more of a hardship on the gritty mountain men who trapped along countless streams and rivers, searching for what remained of the elusive beaver population. It was a hard life, predicated on an individual's ability to survive in a harsh environment based on his wits and his bare hands. Interaction with other people was rare--the need to get along with neighboring Indian tribes a must. And infrequently, perhaps once every two or three years, the trappers would unite at a "rendezvous" to trade their pelts for cash and let off a little steam. To say that such a gathering was rowdy and violent is kind of like saying turtles have shells. Charlton Heston "shines" (a little mountain man lingo, there) as fur trapper Bill Tyler, a quiet man who only wishes to be left alone so he can find that last valley just teeming with beaver. But there's a problem: while fighting off a band of Blackfoot bent on stealing his horses and supplies he attracts the company of a young squaw (Victoria Racimo) who happens to be married to a chief with a very serious attitude (Stephen Macht). Thus Tyler and his new companion are forced to run, and run, and run some more to escape the warrior's wrath. While Heston is solid in his role, Brian Keith absolutely steals the show as crusty Henry Frapp. Henry, a friend of Tyler's, is a cantankerous, foul-mouthed, fun-loving old coot who vividly breathes life into the mountain man persona. Keith dominates every scene he's in, and he's fun to watch. Heck, THE MOUNTAIN MEN is fun to watch. The screenplay, incidentally, was written by Heston's son, Fraser, who obviously did his homework concerning this fascinating aspect of the Old West. Grab a plug of tobacco and enjoy.

Only two things wrong with the movie: 1. The acting is sub-par at times, but not enough to really hurt the quality of the movie. 2. The pace seems a little too brisk because the movie only runs 87 minutes, I would expand on it more, esp. showing the monster more.

The special effects are horrible, and sometimes the fight/killing scenes are boring because this movie was so low budjet. And If you have read this novel, and want to see the movie just because the book was great, and you soppose that the movie will be as well...ITS NOT please don't even waste your time on this. I got this movie for free, but I'm still mad because it is a waste of my valuable time! Differences between this and the book are too much to handle, they shouldn't even put Based on a novel by Dean Koontz, because this was nothing at all like the novel. I've seen movies based on novels before, and they had some resemblence to the novel, but this didn't AT ALL. If you have read the book I'll tell you now TRAVIS & NORA don't exist..they never get married, they never change their names, they never run off the northern California. the only things that are the same between this and this novel are Eienstein, and the Outsider...the main character is not as lovable as Travis, in fact the main character is quite annoying, and I had to sigh at some of stupid things he said. Besides Eienstein, and The Outsider there is NOTHING ELSE similar to the novel. Watchers Reborn starts off with a dog, Eienstein, and a monster, The Outsider, escaping from a labratory...the dog is found that same day in the hills by a Detective Cop. The Outsider killes several people on his way out...Eienstien, and the Detective are not friends from the biggining, in fact, the detective shoo's him away several times, before he takes him into his home. The Detective, finds out that the dog, Eienstein is super-smart because the dog brings him a turkey sandwitch. The Detective finds out that a attractive scientist is looking for the dog because she feels that the dog is in grave danger. When the Scientist, and the Detective meet, they needless to say fall in love. If that plot interests you then I don't hold you back from purchasing this film, but if it already sound corny...back away from it...

The sex part? THERE ISN'T ANY. Not unless you count the scene in the space bordello, which is neither sexy nor funny. So the movie fails on both counts; it's not funny, and it's not sexy. It just sort of flops around from disconnected scene to disconnected scene. All the guys in the movie are slimy cheeseballs with open shirts and ASCOTS. And then there's Avery Schreiber. Avery Schreiber. Who told this guy he was funny? Can we sue them? Was he funny? Ever? And what was this movie shot on? I mean, the whole film is blurry. It's out of focus all the way through. I've seen MP3's with better image resolution than this movie. The only thing that might make this dreadful failure worth watching at all, for even five seconds, is Dorothy Stratton. Poor Dorothy. She can't act, of course, but she is beautiful, even in the sublimely stupid outfits they put her in here. And she goes through this thing like a trooper, doing exactly what she's supposed to, which is act like a robot. Trust me, this movie's not even good no matter how many of whatever substances you imbibe. It's too awful to even make fun of. It's just plain awful. Unless you are absolutely obsessed with Dorothy Stratton or you have some weird need to collect every bad science fiction movie ever made, avoid this like the plague.
I only mention all of the above to preface my review because they're important. I'm exactly the intended target audience for this movie. It's bad. Really bad. Bad bad. Using terms like "witty" and "humorous" are completely out of place with this movie. I had a friend in grade school who made witty movies. This isn't even close. My first impression was incredibly poor. The A G O N I Z I N G L Y slow pan along the length of the spaceship while music that sounded like it was lifted from a Bugs Bunny cartoon in a more serious moment seemed like it would never end. And then it went downhill. There is no sense of sequence to the story. It's a hodge-podge of scenes that seem to have been written by someone determined to see how bad a movie could be and still be funded and released by a theater. Well, now we know. The acting is beyond cardboard, the supposed "parody" simply a matter of trying to reference other movies everyone would know without realizing you need to do something clever with it to be funny, and throughout all of this is the maddening Bugs Bunny classical soundtrack. Don't waste your time... even if you think it would be worth trying to see how bad it is. That's why I saw it. I've seen thousands of movies, and this is my first movie review. That should tell you how bad this movie must be.
Galaxina(Dorothy R Stratten) is a female robot which leds in the Eternity Police starship. The crew including a cowboy a shaggy beared captain,a black vampire(or cousin of Mr Spock the vulcanian) and a japanese old man. They get a mission got to a remote planet to get the Blue Star(ahhh!) from a alien robot which lives in a west town style full of aliens. Of course they sent Galaxina to get the treasure. After she is captured by a band of Harley Davidson believers they rescued her and returns to the ship. The dialogue is a bit cheesy the humour and jokes are very obvius and the intents of Galaxina of talk are evident. The presence of playmate DRS at least worth the money. The sound is clear and audible, but the image clarity is poor,it seems that the transfer was done from an old vhs tape. They should make a better image quality. ... Read more | |

Bad acting, silly and implausible plot. I mean, Come on!. The good guys go after the drug-lord types and steal "the secret laptop". The drug lords learn who's attacking them. The good guys hang out the entire time in a restaurant they own and the bad guys never bother to go after them. The female lead apparently got her two expressions (pissed and majorly pissed) from Clint Eastwood. Dan Lauria (the bad cop) was amusing in a sad sort of way and Stephen Macht (who should have quit acting when he finished "Galaxina") played an evil government type who was after the female lead for some reason or another. At least it was better than "In the Bedroom"

A passel of oddball kids fight the dark forces of evil in their small neighborhood with the help of Frankenstein & Scary German Guy (an old Germanic man that is a neighbor). Great plot, cool special effects, some excellent one liners & some wonderful child acting all make for a terrifc family frightfest! Check out the teacher in the beginning of the movie. The kids call her "Meow Mix" because her head is shaped like a cat's head! Great oddball writing in this movie makes it scary & funny! Wonderful story! I just can't wait for this to come out on DVD!
but its abut these group of kids who have to stop dracula from taking ova the world. but it has all the monster classics. so if you like drac and the other creaures of the night, watch it!
