4-0 out of 5 stars SANDRA BULLOCK CHARMS...HARRY CONNICK, JR. SIZZLES...
Forest Whitaker's directorial efforts pay off, as he presents the viewer with a solid, though predictable, romance. The ever charming and coltish Sandra Bullock gives a strong performance as Birdie Pruitt, who has just found out on national television that her husband Bill is having an affair with her erstwhile best friend, Connie. Shocked, she is left to cope with this very public betrayal.

Birdie takes their daughter, Bernice, and leaves her husband, returning to her small town roots in Smithville, Texas, where her mom, an eccentric but lovely lady, wonderfully played by Gena Rowlands, still lives. As a teenager, Birdie had been a big fish in a small pond, a popular high school cheerleader who had ended up marrying the high school star quarterback, Queen of Corn three years running, and the envy of most of the young women with whom she grew up. She now finds herself returning home with her tail between her legs, her fairy tale life having taken a decided nosedive.

While home, some of those who remember her manage to get their digs in. One person, however, a sensitive and sensual good ol' boy, Justin Matisse, played to sexy perfection by Harry Connick, Jr., remembers her with fond affection, as he has loved her since they were in high school. He is there, just waiting to pick up the pieces.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Cup Runneth Over..............
This has to be one of my very favorite movies and the soundtrack is THE BEST COUNTRY music I have ever heard, and I don't even listen to Country Music LOL in fact I liked the music (and the movie) so much I have purchased both for friends at least twice!!! On to my review.....

Gena Rowlands is Fantastic as the Momma, Harry Connick Jr. is simply charming as the "wanna be" Beau, the actor that played "Travis" was adorable and heartwarming, Bernice (the daughter of Sandra Bullock in the movie) was casted very well she was perfect as a stubborn, hurt and confused little girl trying to deal with the divorce of her Beloved Daddy and her (now seen as the enemy) Momma. Of course I can not leave out Sandra Bullock I was impressed with her ability to portray the hurt and the recovery of a women who has sunk to depression after her husband has found another, a mother that is struggling to keep it together for her child and a daughter that comes home to a town and a Mother that remembers her in a certain light.

Forrest Whitaker did a tremendous job In my Honest Opinion with selecting this cast, creating scenes that make you feel all of what the characters are going through. From the Gena Rowlands character all the way to the children. I can not recommend this movie enough for anyone. Caution.... It's not light, there are some funny moments and there are some very sad moments. It deals with death, infidelity and parents neglecting their children.

I watched this with my 12 year old, she loved it!!! The soundtrack maybe hard to find but do yourself a favor FIND IT!! it is definately worth it. I had to finally find mine on auction sites and it can come pretty pricy brand new/sealed but still if I ever heard something worth the ticket price the soundtrack for this movie is one of them.

Also if you like this type of movie (with pretty much the same subject matter) check out "Something to Talk About" which stars Gena Rowland as the Momma as well.

Mae Whitman plays the adorable, if not bratty, daughter in this, Bernice. If you happen to come across a recent photo of her, my, hasn't she grown up?

Yet again, Sandra Bullock exectutive produces, and stars in, a film that she's done a million times over. She's got herself into a rut with the kind of roles she can play, and nothing can save her now. She's teamed up with yet another hunky man, this time Harry Connick Jnr, and although they hardly spend any 'quality' time together in the movie, there is one great scene where they dance together.

I hope soon that Sandra Bullock will shock us all with a role in a movie that isn't something she normally does. She's approaching 40 now, and should be expanding her horizons, so she can stay in the movie business once her pretty looks have gone. But nope, she churns out film after film, swapping guys and trying to make out she's still as popular. I'm holding out for the Miss Congeniality sequel - still one of my all time favourite films starring her.

Don't get me wrong, I love her films. The only one that's surprised me was Murder By Numbers, and that's probably cos I still can't understand it to this day. But if you've seen one, you've seen them all. Still a good film though, with Kathy Najimy playing the role of Toni Post, the Ricki Lake style chatshow host at the very start of the film.

Mae Whitman is terrific in this, and hopefully, she'll appear in loads more movies, now she's getting a bit older, and has got rid of those horrid glasses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Emotional
This is as close to real life as it gets , like the saying "when it rains it pours" Well Birdie suffered from a cheating husband, depression, jobless,"matchmaking mother" and a daughter who blamed it all on her Mom and then BAM !!! Her mother passes away and her cheating husband has the nerve to show up with divorce papers ???? That poor girl . It was like what Birdies Mother said to Bernice . ' My birdie has more strength than she has ever known . I admired "Birdie" in this movie , not only did she go on with life but it is true that "Hope Floats" and you "just have to move on with it"( Gena Rowlands)(Miss Romana) . I cryed , I smiled , I got angry and last I cryed with happy tears . My all time favorite movie . Thank you ..

Sandra Bullock turns in a textured, nuanced performance in this bittersweet tale of loss, closure, and new beginnings. After learning in a brutal fashion that her husband and her best friend have become lovers, Bullock returns to her small hometown in Texas, son in tow. She "goes home to Mother", re-instating a relationship that is close but with its share of the usual troubles and flaws.

She finds that her high school boyfriend still retains strong feelings for her. Slowly, she learns to trust again, as the two draw close. The movie is saved from mediocrity by the strong performances of the three major characters who are able to convey feelings beyond what is spoken. That said, I have taken from this movie a marvelous set of words in the following quotation:

"Beginnings are scary, and endings are generally sad, but it's what happens in the middle that matters." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Halloween or Anytime Movie, One of the Best.
Three aged witch sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) are brought back to life after three hundred years when a teen virgin taking his little sister (Thora Birch) trick-or-treating scoffs at a local legend and lights a black flame while trying to impress a girl.

It is light-hearted and fun but a little scary for a Disney flick as the witch sisters must find children and suck the life from them to regain their own youth.

Good vehicle for Midler and Parker as the bumbling witches wisecrack their way through an action-filled Halloween night. Ten-year-old Thora Birch (American Beauty, Ghost World) is typically witty and very cute.

Some themes are a bit racy for a Disney feature and very young children might find some scenes a bit scary, but these are what help make this movie entertaining for the whole family. It's Halloween fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Any witch way you slice it...Hocus Pocus is fun!
I never understood the negative reviews for Hocus Pocus. We went to the theatre anyway and thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Bette Midler is hammy, yes, but it's Bette! She's playing a beaver-toothed, child chasing 17th century witch in a Disney flick. What else is there but hammy?! Kathy Nijimy, with her Dairy Queen hair and lopsided grin, is a hoot. And Sarah Jessica Parker, the curvaceous, third sister, does Sex In the City...Salem-style! (stictly PG of course!) Thora Birch has yet to reach her brooding, raven-haired American Beauty stage, so she's still adorable! And to top it off, there is Zachary Binx, the talking black cat...an obvious inspiration for Sabrina, the Teenage Witch's Salem! My seven-year-old daughter loves this movie! I finally purchased the video today (we had been holding out for a DVD release) to save myself the video rental fees! If you're not a "serious student of film" and can sit and watch and just enjoy a fun movie...rent Hocus Pocus for a test drive...and then buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Glorious For Anyone Who Loves Halloween
If you grew up where I grew up, Halloween was THE biggest event of the year - and all these (45) years later, I still love the sights, smells and spirit of that most magical night.

In Hocus Pocus, you might not find true horror, blood and guts, body parts and roaming zombies (um, wait...), but you do feel the gorgeous allure of the season through the crunchy-leafed scenery, the equisite set design, costuming, innocence of youth and the somewhat corny (if not over-acted) witchy zeal of the wonderful Sanderson sisters. Okay, the plot wouldn't win a Pulitzer Prize, but for sheer fun and enjoyment, let Hocus Pocus transport you to a time and place where witches ruled and moms still impersonated Madonna in cone cupped bustiers. PS: Did I mention I have my own black cat named Zachary Binx?

1-0 out of 5 stars Better use the DVD as a coaster
This movie was garbage. Placing a well-mixed martini atop the DVD on your coffee table will provide far more entertainment than this movie, even if you are spending your evening completely alone. I'd like to say the script was terrible, but, to be honest, I don't think there was a script. Lopez and McConaughey, two people with at least some talent, never had a chance in this film. If I had to allow this movie one saving grace it would have to be Justin Chambers as the puppy-lovesick Mossimo, but even he was sadly underserved by this sadly underwritten script.

5-0 out of 5 stars Crazy about the Wedding Planner
I loved this movie! Timless and classic, this movie is the best chick flick ever! I can't get enough of Lopez's style, and Matthew M. is a winner as well. The ending was no surprise, but it still made me cry. Great for a girl's night in!

3-0 out of 5 stars How Hollywoodish!
An easy to watch - no concentration needed movie that will allow you to pass time. Things would have been acceptably okay had it not been for the cheesy - predictable ending. I personally think it would have made a slight impact to the audience if Mary married Massimo & not Steve. There, just saving you your money in case you haven't seen it yet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good For a Romance
.... It seemed simply typical: Two people are set to be married, the star of the movie falls in love with one of them, the engaged person falls in love with the star, the engaged person leaves their significant other for the star, and they live happily ever after. For this reason, I avoided seeing the movie for some time. I now regret not seeing it in the theater with my girlfriend. The movie provided the viewer with enough twists and turns to keep them interested and Jennifer Lopez worked magic in making you fall in love with her. It made for a great date movie and one worth seeing even if you weren`t on a date.
This wasn`t a thought-provoking Drama or a action-packed Thriller, but if you are in the mood for a romantic film without the need of alot of thought, it is definitely worth watching. In the Romance genre, it followed in the footsteps of Pretty Woman in making you feel good, which should be the goal of any Romance. It was an unexpected delight and I recommend seeing it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uninspired Chick Flick Yawner
Bridgette Wilson does a convincing job playing a fussy, demanding, selfish bride. But J.Lo can't act--she's poorly cast as an Italian (and has a big caboose, too). Matthew McConaughey is a joke; his twangy accent makes him seem goofier than intellectual.

"The Wedding Planner" might appeal to women, but it's not for men. The typical wedding jokes and been-done-before romantic plotlines are worn-out, and this movie does nothing to refresh them. There are many obvious plot holes (a wedding planner with no social life, a doctor who never seem to busy himself with anything not to mention the occasional patient). The characters are shallow and stretched thin over a plot that is not emotionally engaging.

This is a terrible movie. If your wife or girlfriend insists on watching it, demand a night out with the guys. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sister Power!
Sister Act can easily be classified as one of the 90's better comedies filled with laughter that can surpass the likes of most movies out today. Whoopi Goldberg is as always hilarious and portrays Delores Van Cartier, a naive lounge singer who's boyfriend is a married mafioso (but she doesn't know this), and later she witnesses a murder commited by him which caused her to run to the police, who in turn stashed her in a church in San Francisco against her will. Mother Superior (Maggie Smith) takes her into the church, and discuises her as a nun with a phony alias: Sister Mary Clarence. The trouble comes later when Mother Superior doesn't like the decision to transform the out-of-tune (she improves their vocal skill) nun's choir into a funky retro 60's girl group. If you want a hilarious comedy, filled with laughter a minute, I will recommend this.

5-0 out of 5 stars A part absolutely made for Whoopi Goldberg
I didn't expect to like this movie when my husband brought it home one Friday night - but I was wrong, wrong, wrong. It's hilarious, uplifting, and entertainint.
Goldberg plays a Reno casino singer who gets in trouble with the mob and hides out disguised as a nun in a teaching convent. Maggie Smith, every twitch and blink in place, plays the mother superior who must cope with Goldberg's high jinks as she energises the convent, its choir, its students, and her own life. And, omigod! The music! You'll want the soundtrack when you've finished watching the movie.
A feel good movie to die for.

1-0 out of 5 stars You Can't Ban Me is wrong
This is a classic disgrace of a movie by Whoopi Goldberg, one of the suckiest actreses of our time. Much to the previous reviewer's chagrin, people who dislike her know real talent like Chris Rock, Richard Pryor, Sam Kinison(so we are not racists). It was RIGHT of Slim Fast to dump the greedy tyrant Goldberg from their ads after she made some candid remarks about the president. Anyway, this film is a masterpiece of garbage. I have zilch respect for Whoopi and despise everything she does.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful, Feel-Good Movie with Plenty of Laughs
Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldburg) is a Reno lounge singer whose life is going nowhere fast. She just saw her married lover, Vince LaRocca (Harvey Keitel), a mob boss, kill a man and is in fear for her life. Deloris didn't want to cooperate with the police, but she wanted to live. However, after finding out where the police were planning on stashing her, Deloris wished that she was dead. How on earth was she supposed to pass herself off as a nun in a convent? Still, Deloris was determined to give it her best shot and became Sister Mary Clarence.

Deloris/Sister Mary Clarence hadn't been in the convent for a day before she was already causing problems and being called before Mother Superior (Maggie Smith). Mother Superior didn't know what to do with Sister Mary Clarence, but the perfect solution presented itself when she saw how Sister Mary Clarence reacted to the atrocious choir performance on Sunday. She promptly informed Sister Mary Clarence that she would be in charge of the choir and felt that that would keep her out of mischief. However, before too long, Sister Mary Clarence had the whole choir rocking and rolling as she took traditional religious songs and rocked them up and rock songs and made them religious. Unfortunately, Mary Clarence's many good works could not go unnoticed for long and she soon found the mob hot on her trail...

Sister Act is a funny, entertaining movie that just makes you laugh. The role of Deloris/Sister Mary Clarence was tailor made for Whoopi Goldberg and you can just tell that she is having a wonderful time. The supporting cast, led by Maggie Smith (Mother Superior), Kathy Najimy (Sister Mary Patrick), Wendy Makkena (Sister Mary Robert) and Mary Wickes (Sister Mary Lazarus) was also superb and each actress brought her own unique charm into her role. If you are looking for a fast, fun, hilarious movie that you can watch with the whole family - and sing along with, too! - this is a great choice!

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't be torn apart from my God!!!!
Nothing you can buy could make me tell a lie to my God! This is Whoopi's best movie ever! My cousin and I were constantly singing the songs everywhere we went. One my favorite movies of ALL time. I wish they would come out with a DVD that contained more extra features though. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!!
This is a really funny movie about a soap opera, and the drama that goes on behind the scenes. Being a soap opera fan myself, I found this to be extremely funny as the movie pokes fun at the genre. The movie centers around a soap opera titled "The Sun Also Sets". Sally Field plays the big diva of the set, a real soap diva (a la Susan Lucci) who is friends with the show's headwriter (who is played by Whoopi Goldberg). The backstage drama upstages the drama that happens on screen each day, and takes a life of it's own. There's enough deceit, betrayal, backstabbing and other soap staples to occupy a lot of airtime on any soap opera! It's a very satrical movie, and it's quite funny how everyone's dirty laundry gets aired for everyone to see! I have to say that Sally Field is the scene stealer though, she has the soap vixen part down PAT and it's so entertaining to watch. I won't give away the plot, just watch the movie and enjoy the scandal. The movie also features Kevin Cline, Elizabeth Shue Robert Downey Jr., Cathy Moriarty, Teri Hatcher, Kathy Najimy, to name a few of the superstars. A really funny movie that you will watch over and over again.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOAPDISH is a funny, wacky farce
Celeste Talbert is the Queen of Soap Opera divas. But after years of success on her show, "The Sun Also Sets," she finds herself beset with a wild assortment of wacky problems including jealous rivals, an ambitious niece, incompetent costumers, off-the-wall plots for the show, and the return of an old boyfriend who has his own ax to grind with his former sweetie. Needless to say, what happens ends up topping anything the soap opera could ever produce. SOAPDISH is a very funny farce that takes the excesses of soap opera and punches them up to a fever pitch level, poking fun at everything from TV networks to dinner theatre. The cast is top-notch, with Sally Field as the neurotic Talbert leading the way. She is matched by the hammy Kevin Kline as her old boyfriend with the big ego, while Whoopi Goldberg is delighfully droll as the show's head writer. Cathy Moriarty is pure venom as Talbert's rival, and Robert Downey, Jr., is perfectly befuddled as the show's producer with a yen for Moriarty. Nice performances are also turned in by Teri Hatcher (from TV's LOIS AND CLARK) and Elisabeth Shue, who both make one of their first film appearances in this flick. Overall, SOAPDISH is a wonderfully wacky film that should delight anyone who enjoys "behind the stage" type stories. Definitely recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars What if the real soap opera was behind the cameras?
"Soapdish" is a soap opera about a soap opera, which indulges in the appealing idea that what is happening behind the cameras is more sex, secrets, and scandal that what is happening in front. That is, until the end when, like "Tootsie," the dirty laundry is aired on live television. The focal point of the insanity is the legendary Celeste Talbert (Sally Field), the aging star of "The Sun Also Sets." When we first meet Celeste, accepting her umpteenth acting award, she thanks her co-workers, most of who are sitting there with frozen smiles muttering things that are not nice underneath their collective breaths. Clearly Celeste is a prima donna who needs to have a comeuppance.

The person who wants to be that comeuppance is bombshell Montana Moorehead (Cathy Morairty), who plays Nurse Nan on the show. She is enticing the show's producer, David Barnes (Robert Downey Jr.) with promises of naked fun to write Celeste's character Maggie out of the show. Towards that end he brings back Dr. Rod Randall, the character played by Maggie's ex-lover Jeffrey Anderson (Kevin Kline), despite the fact that his character was written out of the show after being decapitated by a tractor trailer while driving a pink convertible in the Yukon on his way to visit his brother, an ex-con named Frances. Fortunately there was a revolutionary two-day operation.

However, the monkey wrench in everybody's plan is young Lori Craven (Elisabeth Shue), who manages to worm her way onto the show and Celeste's dressing room. Those who actually watch more than television soap operas and were weaned on theatrical efforts along the same line should be thinking about "All About Eve" at this point, but, no, that is too mundane a plot line for this farce and Lori turns out to be the spark that starts a whole new round robin of the aforementioned sex, scandal and secrets.

With a script by Robert Harling ("Steel Magnolias") and Andrew Bergman ("The Freshman"), this 1991 comedy directed by Michael Hoffman ("Restoration") piles on the complications and tries to keep things going fast enough to keep the momentum going before it collapses. Fortunately "Soapdish" saves the best part for last, when it looks like the only thing that will save the day is an emergency brain transplant in a Jamican restaurant. Obviously everybody in the cast is trying to upstage everybody else, and the clear winner is Kevin Kline, who not only can figure out how to use his real voice when preparing for an important conversation but refuses to wear his contact lenses in scenes that require him to read off the teleprompter.

Also in the cast of "Soap Opera" are Whoopi Goldberg as Rose Schwartz, the writer who is Celeste's one friend, Teri Hatcher as actress Ariel Maloney, Gary Marshall as network head Edmund Edwards, and Kathy Najimy as the always perky Tawny Miller. Ultimately this comedy will appeal to those who like "Soap" and "Nurse Betty" more than "All My Children" and "As the World Turns," but there is nothing wrong with that, especially since sometimes this movie is as funny as it thinks it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome movie
clever, hillarious, goofy, great! this movie never got the recognition it deserves. it's a fantastic escape.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable
This movie isn't a laugh-riot from start to finish, but it does have some very funny moments, mostly when Kevin Kline or Cathy Moriarty are onscreen. Both of them rip into their roles with gusto, and steal the show from Sally Field, who is funny but only truly lets loose when she's interacting with Kline (i.e., an uproarious scene in Kline's apartment). Whoopi Goldberg and Robert Downey Jr. give fine comical supporting performances, as does Teri Hatcher (sporting extremely big hair) and Elisabeth Shue (though it's a little hard to picture the blonde Shue as the child of Kline and Field). Clever cameos by Garry Marshall, Carrie Fisher, Leeza Gibbons, and several soap actors round out the enviable cast, and sharp writing keep the whole thing afloat even in the weaker parts. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars; Entertaining, Funny Film
Jerry Zucker's RAT RACE (2001), a new entry in the MAD-GUMBALL-SCAVENGER-CANNONBALL RUN tradition, is not the classic that the 1963 film IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD was (& still is), but it is funnier and more entertaining than the latter three films combined (actually four, if you include CANNONBALL RUN 2). It stars the winning Breckin Meyer (remember him as the stoner-skateboarder in 1995's CLUELESS?) in his first starring role ever--quite a feat in a movie that also stars Cuba Gooding, Jr., John Cleese, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Lovitz, and Rowan Atkinson!

Meyer is Nick Schaffer, a nice young guy who has just returned from his best friend's bachelor party and, of course, is asked when he will settle down himself. But good-hearted Nick, while not exactly a wild child, still isn't ready. However, while passing through a Las Vegas casino and finally tempted to put a quarter in a slot machine, he becomes embroiled in the adventure of his lifetime, as casino-owner/billionaire-boys-club organizer John P. Sinclair (Cleese) fixes certain slots to pay out six special tokens. These tokens have a room number printed on them, beckoning Schaffer, along with the NFL's worst referee (Gooding, Jr.), a harried mother (Goldberg) and her on-the-go-biz-minded daughter (Lanai Chapman), two party-dude brothers (Seth Green and newcomer Vince Vieluf), and a bumbling Italian funnyman (Atkinson, doing his best Roberto Benigni impression). Of course, these largely dimwitted characters are the unwitting participants in Sinclair's latest game to amuse himself and his billionaire buddies. The goal: find $2 million locked in a train station safe 563 miles away in Silver City, New Mexico---winner takes all, naturally!

Just as with all of the previous treatments of the same basic theme, the point of watching is not to see who wins, but to see what incredibly incredulous situations these greedy, wacky characters can get themselves into. See hapless referee Cuba Gooding, Jr. being even more hapless behind the wheel of a touring bus--of "I Love Lucy" conventioneers. See hapless dad Jon Lovitz who essentially kidnaps his entire family to join him on the ride, and ends up taking them on a tour of the "Barbie Museum" (which sets up this film's funniest series of gags, if not most controversial). See hapless Rowan Atkinson making mincemeat of the English language through his character's overly engaging Italian accent--and falling asleep at the least opportune times as he happens to be narcoleptic. Breckin Meyer essentially plays the straight man to everyone else's bunch of rodeo clowns, but his character is no less the [end] of the film's joke, as he gets into trouble with his too-trusting nature.

I will not give away any of the film's surprisingly funny scenes. I will simply say that although many of its characters are rather stupid, the movie itself is not. I laughed at the vast majority of jokes. So this isn't AIRPLANE or THE NAKED GUN--it isn't trying to be! It is, however, funny and fast-paced. Besides, you just can't hate a film that gives us cameos by wonderful stage veteran Kathy Bates and feminist attorney Gloria Allred! RECOMMENDED

5-0 out of 5 stars 10 star Modern day classic
Having grown up loving the classics It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World with an array of well known comics and actors/actresses, we stumbled across this gem on a cable movie channel and fell in love with it, and needed to own a copy. The nice thing about the movie is it is dang funny, and on the edge without the vulgar language that so many modern comedies have. All the actors-actresses are excellent as is the dialogue, scenery and plot. If you are a fan of Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean or Blackadder) or John Cleese,Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr or Jon Lovitz and Kathy Najimy who play a husband and wife you will LOVE this movie.

My favorites are the Jon Lovitz and Kathy Najimy who play a husband and wife with 2 kids. I is one of the funniest we have ever seen. Their kids wanting to visit the "Barbie" museum which turns out for this Jewish couple to be the Klaus Barbie of Hitler fame museum and results in a quick get away in a car once owned by Hitler with swastika flags and all. You will laugh so dang hard. I laugh just thinking about their performances.

Then the whole Kathy Bates ... The Squirrel Lady and Whoopu Goldberg and the whole break the land speed record segment is a riot. Cuba Gooding Jr. ... Owen Templeton and the whole bus load of Lucys look alikes headed for a Lucy convention will have you laughing so hard. There is also a naughty but not vulgar scene with the two young guys, (one has piercing) and the two girls in the car where the one girl Tristin Leffler (Pierced Girl) shows the one guy driving that she has more piercings than him and he drives the car off the road and into a hilarious segment that will have the Nascar and trucker fans busting a gutt.

The nice thing is the ending .... not at all what one expects.

5-0 out of 5 stars What the Heck?
This was the oddest, wierdest, strangest, dumbest, movie in the world! I LOVED (...) It was really stupied some of the things that happened like one of the guys found a bus full of I Love Lucy impersinators to that whole "Squirrel thing." But it's an awesome, hilarious movie and I loved it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I go to the Movies twice a week since 2000. When I saw Rat Race in 2001, it was my favorite movie. Even though I see 2 movies a week (104 movies a year) Still that movie back in 2001 is still to this day my favorite movie. It was so funny! Best Movie for kids even better for adults! I bought this dvd last year and i watch it every day and it never gets boring.

I LOVE RAT RACE!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good comedy!
The Hitler scene is probably my favorit movie comedy scene since I can remember, and though the entire movie doesn't have me rolling in the aisles, it's all worth watching. If you're looking for sophisticated and highbrow, this might not meet your fancy, but for everyone else I don't think you can go wrong with this comedy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is my favorite movie!!!
I've seen it so many times I could almost play each part. In fact, it comes on this afternoon on Showtime. It's a continuing story of Delores Van Cartier aka Sister Mary Clarence (Whoopi Goldberg) who uses her gifts of music and determination to keep a school open as well as change the lives of all those her life touches. Great music, great humor and drama. Lauren Hill (pre-Fugees) is in this as well as Jennifer Love Hewitt and Monica Calhoun if you look really, really carefully. Buy it, enjoy it.
Hey, maybe you'll catch it on Showtime during one of it's airings. I'm positive when it's over, when you can finally stop yourself from humming one of the great tunes, and possibly put down your tissue (I cry EVERY TIME I see it)( and baby, I've seen seen it so many times that I've got ot turn it off when my husband comes home because he says "Are you watching that again?) You will say "I wish I had that movie!" So get it so you'll have no regrets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic sequel
Though there is room for improvement with regards to the story line, this movie delivers what I most enjoy in a film. The acting is superb, including the minor cast roles. The music is absolutely fantastic!...Lauren Hill and Ryan Toby steal the show with their voices. The plot, though quite simple and predictable, is believable. Many of the scenes are very moving, including the ending sequence involving Lauren Hill's character, Rita, and her mother.

Overall, this is a great family movie that everyone can enjoy. The comedy is simple enough for children to understand, and there isn't one scene in the movie (that I can recall) which is inappropriate for all ages. Like a few other reviewers, I've found that I long to hear a few of the songs from the movie when I need cheering up.

If you enjoy good, clean family movies, you can't go wrong with this one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Part 1 was Great..Part 2 Wasnt.
SAw it in the movies.... Fell asleep midway... All the magic from part 1 which was AWESOME...was lost. Boring story... They should have left it at part 1.

5-0 out of 5 stars So much fun!
FANTASTIC sequel! Just as enjoyable, if not more, than the first! All of the musical numbers are glorious!! A successful sequel all the way!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it
I've read all of the reviews on SA2 and it is quite obvious this movie is not for everyone, however, if you enjoy "feel good " movies , this is for you. The storyline iis quite predictable, the acting is good , but the music is a delightful bonus, just wish there was more of it. I know that if I'm feeling a little down, I can pop in this movie and feel better. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the "Chucky movies"
"Bride of Chucky" is in my opinion, the best of all the Chucky movies. Although it is not pure horror and suspense, Bride of Chucky still beats out the previous 3 Child's Play movies. The atmosphere is creepy and gothic, and there are a couple of gory death scenes. But the main appeal of this movie is its humor. I loved how Chucky and Tiffany played off each other.

I also thought that the music was perfect for this movie. Instead of using a creepy musical score, they used songs from Rob Zombie and other metal groups.

The features on the dvd were very good. The audio commentary with Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany), Brad Dourif (Chucky), and Don Mancini (the movie's writer) were both informative and funny.

I won't give the ending away, but let's just say that it was unexpected. It was gross and sick...but it was also a perfect ending that will lead to the next Chucky movie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Jennifer Tilly bumps otherwise average movie up a big notch!
Although I am a horror fan I have never been a fan of the slasher genre and had never planned to see this movie, but I just happened to watch it by accident one night and was very pleasantly suprised.

What places this movie a cut above the usual moronic slasher flick is an OUTSTANDING performance by Jennifer Tilly as Chucky's "bride" Tiffany. I had never seen her in a starring role before, and the whole time she was on the screen I kept asking "Who IS this chick? She's great!!" and couldn't wait to look up her name in the closing credits. -- Definitely not the usual quality of acting you'd expect in this type of B-movie.

After she meets her demise and is transformed into a doll, the film becomes more predictable and gradually descends more to the level of your standard Chucky flick. The late great John Ritter's talents seem wasted here in a pretty cardboard role, and unfortunately the two teen leads are never more than the typical generic "kids in distress".

But director Ronny Yu does seem to have some notion of his film's place within the horror genre, and there's a wonderful and inspired nod to classic horror and "The Bride of Frankenstein" during Tiffany's transformation sequence. Nice little touches like this, and the fact that this movie does not take itself too seriously and often seems more like a parody of the slasher/Chucky genre, made it even more enjoyable for me.

I hear that Jennifer Tilly will also be involved in the sequel currently filming, "Child's Play 5: Seed of Chucky", which should make it interesting. But I actually wish they'd go back and do a PRE-quel to this movie, focusing on living woman Tiffany's life before bringing back Chucky. -- She is one deliciously twisted, mean and sexy momma!

This movie has not made me a Chucky fan, but it definitely has made a new fan of Jennifer Tilly out of me.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a fun, mindless and light movie just to waste a couple of hours on, this one isn't bad.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stunningly BAD
This movie absolutely puts the rest of the CP series to absolute shame. It's just a slapstick movie with forced laughs and dry humor, and almost no horror. Gone is organization -- they threw in a plot involving an amulent, and Andy could be in hell for all we know. This movie really drops the CP series' quality and honestly, may be the worst movie I've ever seen. The plot is weak. The only plus is good acting, at least by Jesse (Stable) and Jade (Heigl). The movie isn't worth a buy; barely worth a rental.
I do give it credit for not having as many "bloopers" as the first three - editing's been done to the max. But there are a few that I won't mention. Still, the first three had plot holes. This movie technically, unforutnately, has no hole in the plot. It just introduces a new element, which is weak. I think they either could have left the CP then-trilogy alone, or just made something better. But I could see the CP idea getting lame anyway.
Leave it alone...

5-0 out of 5 stars More funny
I like the Child's Play series and though I personally think the first one is the best, this one is good in its own way. Bride of Chucky has much more humour, a lot killings in more unique ways and an extra doll. If you like the Child's Play series, you will definitely enjoy this one but if you never liked the series, I doubt you will find anything enjoyable about this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hardly a good movie but still a lot of fun to watch
Before Chucky turned killer doll, he had a girlfriend named Tiffany. In this movie Tiffany recovers the body of Chucky from a polive evidence locker. Chucky was pretty much torn to pieces in 3 so she sews him back together and uses the vodoo chant to bring his spirit back to the body. He returns just as evil as ever and horror/comedy takes up the rest of the movie.

This is not a good film. It is a horror movie that is so over the top on ridiculousness that it borders on comedy. I never thought I would see Chucky the killer doll, who I feared so much as a child, in a love scene. Seeing Tiffany the killer doll making cookies for Chucky while they're holding a couple hostage is quite amusing. The domestic dispute that develops between the dolls shortly after this is just hilarious.

This movie isn't for everyone. You'll enjoy this if you were a fan of Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason or the Evil Dead movies. If you have a dark sense of humor you'll probably love this movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Too Funny!
Extremely hilarious. I've been searching for this movie for almost two years...every since I saw it on Lifetime. Jenifer Lewis is perfect for this "mockumentary" on a washed-up diva who tries to make a comeback. She and a full cast of well-known entertainers will have you grabbing your stomach from laughter. I'm on my third week of renewing my rental for this movie. Trust me, you will love this movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dynamite and Funny as you know what, but that ending....
Loved this movie. There are SO many genuinely funny and campy moments here. Patti Austin at Peaches Yancy's funeral is a hoot; the woman just won't STOP singing! Jennifer Lewis is fabulous and so is young lady that plays Jackie's faithful daughter Entendre (Make that a DOUBLE Entendre). The only complaint I have is the ending. All of the sudden we get this bittersweet, force fed weeper ending which doesn't fit into the framework of the rest of the movie. Overall, though it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the movie. Just a minor quibble, since the ending of ANY movie does leave an impression. It almost has the feel of something that was forced on Robert Townsend by the Network. Maybe not. Please buy this DVD, though. If you appreciate the ridiculous excess of modern and classic Divas you'll love it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely hilarious
This SPINAL TAP-like mockumentary is absolutely hilarious and the commentary track by director Townsend is equally entertaining. JENNIFER LEWIS is amazing. She's a brilliant comedic actress who is shamefully underused in movies and this is a perfect vehicle for her. It does for her what JACKIE BROWN did for Pam Grier. The supporting cameos are laugh-out-loud funny, best being Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Curry, Loretta Devine, Isabel Sandford, Kathy Griffith, Rikki Lake, Sean Hayes, Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli, Eva Marie Saint, Dolly Parton, Grace Slick and Diahann Carroll.

4-0 out of 5 stars So Cliche It's Good
All the diva jokes and funny one liners are all very typical and cliche of this type of movie, but still between Jenifer Lewis and Tim Curry they manage to pull it off and still make it a damn good movie.
While reading through the other reviews for this product, I noticed that everyone constantly praises Lewis but unless I missed something, no one said a thing about Curry.
I'm not trying to take the spotlight away from Jenifer Lewis...she was amazing considering that this is her first movie. However, no one has acknowledged Tim's great work on the film.
I heard someone comment the other day that his acting was too [unrealistic]and over the top in this movie. Hello! ... He's supposed to be acting like that, considering that he plays the part of the host of a low budget documentary. Some people can be real stupid, ...
Anyway, I thought I was going to die laughing when I saw the look on Tim's face when Jackie's cross-dressing dress designer came into her dressing room. I also loved it when Jackie's playmama said that white people all smelled like wet potatoe chips. Again, Tim's face was priceless. He's the kind of actor that's good enough that he needs no words to get his point across, the expression says it all.
Another one of my favorite parts is when he admits to Jackie that when first asked to do the documentary he had never heard of her, and then she said, 'They played my records in England,' and he replies, 'Yes...but I never heard them.'
Anyway, it's filled with plenty of other gut busting scenes. I've waited and waited for this movie to be released on DVD after I first saw it on Lifetime...and finally my wish has come true.
Buy Jackie's Back today, it's so bad it's good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top-notch music and comedy
This movie is so well-loved by everyone who sees it, that when I sing the theme song "Yield" in public, everyone immediately recognizes it (and laughs). Definitely the funniest comedy ever...why it wasn't released to theaters is a mystery. Wish we had a soundtrack album with all the great songs. ... Read more

Amazon.com essential video

Arthurian mythology and modern day decay seem perfect complements to each other in this Terry Gilliam drama/comedy/fantasy. Shock jock Jack Lucas (Jeff Bridges) makes an off-handed radio remark that causes a man to go on a killing spree, leaving Lucas unhinged with guilt. Lucas's later, chance meeting with Parry (Robin Williams), a homeless man suffering from dementia, gets him involved in the unlikely quest for the Holy Grail. The rickety, and patently unrealistic stand that insanity is just a wonderful place to be, and that the homeless are all errant knights, wears awfully thin, but there are numerous moments of sad grace and violent beauty in this film. The screenplay by Richard LaGravenese launched his successful career and his smart wordplay helped garner Mercedes Ruehl an Oscar as Lucas's girlfriend. --Keith Simanton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A profound experience
The Fisher King is a representational movie. It makes use of Arthurian legend, and parallels the legend of the Fisher King with the lives of the two main protagonists - Parry (Robin Williams) and Jack (Jeff Bridges). Symbolism and metaphorical techniques are utilisied extensively throughout the film, which makes it an extremely visual experience to watch. However, the symbolism extends beyond the visual plane, to a very psychological one. For example, Parry's creation of a fantastical world full of 'little fat people' and the 'Red Knight', is very much representative of his own mental condition; the fantasy world, minus the Red Knight, represents Parry's acceptance/ignorance of his mental trauma. At the same time the Red Knight is symbolic of the pain and suffering as caused by the trauma itself.
Whenever Parry shows glimpes of sanity (lucid speech, dating, feeling love again, etc.), the Red Knight always appears in his life. While the Red Knight is at bay Parry is not catatonic or overwrought by his trauma. To overcome/accept the trauma of seeing his wife murdered before his eyes, ultimately Parry has to confront the Red Knight and vanguish him. However, he lacks the insight and strength to do this on his own. Enter Jack - who ultimately feels responsible for Parry's condition! Jack is the equivalent of the fool or simpleton from the story of the Fisher King. Jack's intent is one of redemption, while he is absorbed into Parry's world. Eventually Jack begins to understand Parry's need for the Holy Grail, which represents Acceptance of Loss. If Parry is able to possess the Holy Grail, then he shall be able to vanguish Insanity as represented by the Red Knight.
While there are elements of fantasy and Arthurian legend woven into this story, there is also a theme of Christianity. Originally Jack is driven by a need to regain the former glory of his life when he was a successful talkback radio host. He wants that life back and believes that by helping Parry, he will overcome his guilt, and thus be able to resume his former life. Jack feels a false resolution in his life when he regains his former life. However, ultimately, when Jack agrees to undertake the quest for the Holy Grail, only then do his motives become self-less. He helps Parry because he wants to, not because he needs to drive away his own guilt - this is very much part of the Christian Doctrine.
On the whole, The Fisher King is an intricate weaving of comedy, drama and tragedy. The direction by Gilliam is faultless, his attention to detail evident especially in the Chinese Restaurant scene, where he borrows from Chinese film-making techniques, using the vertical black bar wipe technique.
This is the type of movie which, on a superficial level, is only somewhat satisfying. However, it is on the psychological level where its real impact is felt - tragic, hopeful and uplifting. It is not the type of movie to watch if you are expecting to be entertained!

4-0 out of 5 stars "I am the janitor of God."
With lines like that strewn throughout this odd but extremely likable film it is easy to see why Robin Williams was nominated for the Academy Award for his manic, yet heartfelt work here. The Original Screenplay was also nominated, and I cannot stress how "original" it is. The dialogue is unpredictable and outrageous at times but never strays too far from emotional honesty. There are poignant scenes as well as scenes where Robin Williams it let loose to let his comedic mania shine. While that would surely be enough for most fans, there is also the wild card actress Mercedes Ruehl, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her endearing performance. Not to mention she is very sexy here as well (nudge, nudge). Jeff Bridges and Amanda Plummer round out the eccentric foursome of talented actors to make this a must-see film for those who enjoy a little originality within their movie-going experience.

5-0 out of 5 stars there are so many things to love about this movie
this is one of my all time favorites, for so many reasons. Robin Williams gives an amazing performance. Mercedes Ruehl has many of the best lines in the film-an awesome actress. i could watch Michael Jeter singing to Amanda Plummer a million times and never grow tired of it-he steals the whole movie with this one scene! so much of the dialogue is touchingly funny and sweet.i also love the music used in the movie.this is a great film, with great performances; i love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saundra's favorite
I've seen A LOT of movies but this one is my favorite of all time. Starts out slow but makes up for it later. The story pulls you in and the character studies are so well done that you can relate fully to what might be going on in their heads. Mercedes Ruehl is the best thing in this movie and so deserving of her Academy Award. Jeff Bridges is brilliant (as usual) and Robin Williams is also outstanding. Every scene is full of visual clues to boggle the mind, and thought provoking circumstances and dialogue to keep you interested in what will happen next. Fantastic camera angles also pepper the film. I especially like the view of Jack with a cinder block tied to his shoe when preparing to drown himself. Parry and the Red Knight scenes are thrilling and involve the viewer in the knightmare that had become his life. Again, my favorite movie of all time.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my top 5 movies
Somehow I managed to miss The Fisher King in its first run theatre edition. My wife and I went to see a different film several years ago and it was surprisingly playing as a double-feature, and to this day I was so struck by this film that I can't remember what the other film was we originally went to see. The Fisher King is a remarkable achievement and tremendously uplifting. It expresses one of the universe's great truths: a being is only as valuable as he can help others. The point where a person feels he cannot help or is a detriment to others is where he begins to die. Jeff Bridge's character can only redeem himself and his life when he proves to himself that he can actually help Robbin Williams' character. While it might be argued that the film is too pat or simplistic in dealing with the issues of insanity -- that's not the message of the film. It's not meant to be a documentary statement. It is an artistic statement and delivers a very important message for our modern culture, that the ability and willingness to help those around you is what makes self-respect possible. If you have an excessively cynical nature you will probably have little time for this film. At the same time, this is a film that would be the best thing for you to watch at least 3 or 4 times back to back until you get the message. I rate The Fisher King as one of my top 5 favorite films of all time and recommend it highly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 o'clock and all is well!
Those are the words that lovable, furry, Grover Monster speaks in the morning, waking everybody up in the wonderful kingdom of Sesame, including Cinderelmo, a cute little red monster who lives with his friend, Zoe, his dog, Prince, his not-so-mean stepmother (played by Kathy Najimy) and her sons. Cinderelmo dreams of playing at the palace with the lovely Princess Charming. Soon announced, there is to be a ball at the palace and all unmarried men and monsters are invited. Soon visited by his "fairy godperson," Cinderelmo is whisked away to the ball as well. When I had first seen this of TV, I loved it. I'm a big fan of Sesame Street as it is. I only wish that Big Bird had a bigger role in it. Either way, it was a good film. Kathy Najimy was superb as the stepmother. If you have little children who have or haven't seen CINDERELMO, don't miss out on getting the video. I surely won't!

"Unmarried men and monsters, you're invited, on and all, to The Princess' Eighteenth Birthday Holiday Find A Husband Ball!"

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute, but a bit thin
My two year old loves Elmo in Grouchland, so I was on the lookout for a new Elmo video for him. I read some other reviews at Amazon.com and ordered CinderElmo. I watched it with my son when it arrived, and we both liked it; but not as much as we both enjoy Elmo in Grouchland. The songs in CinderElmo aren't as catchy as they are in Elmo in Grouchland -- I don't catch myself humming them as I do Together Forever or One Foot in Front of the Other. It wasn't a bad video; just not as good as Elmo in Grouchland. It's a good back-up video if your toddler just can't get enough Elmo-action from Grouchland.

5-0 out of 5 stars great movie for a 2 year old
My daughter absolutely loves this movie! She's an Elmo fanatic, so I highly reccomend this for any other Elmophile out there. I myself enjoyed watching it, especially because of Oliver Platt's performance as the Fairy Godperson, and, of course, Grover, who basically steals the whole show. If you enjoy a good Sesame Street movie, you'll definately enjoy this one. It has alot of replay value and the songs are really fun and pleasant, as opposed to irritating and overly repetitive.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Story is Confusing
This movie is cute... Elmo is cute... the fairy godperson steals the show... but... Elmo's dream is to dance with the princess... not to marry her... the whole story is about the princess needing to pick a husband now or her and her parents get tossed out of town... I didn't like the whole idea of the forced marriage when Elmo's dream was only to dance with her... not to marry her... and then she asks Elmo to marry her because he was a good dancer? please... what century is this? and then they have an issue because Elmo is only three and he CAN'T marry her... if these were real people this kid would be freaked... Cinderella's dream was to marry the prince... Cinderelmo's dream was to dance with her... they went too far with the forced marriage thing and made a cute movie kinda creepy...

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for my 1 year old....YET!
My daughter, who just turned 1, has been an Elmo fan for a little while now. This is the only thing with Elmo that she doesn't like. She wouldn't watch more than 5 minutes of it. It's much different from other of his videos. It's more scripted and less animated than his normal segments. I think it would be more popular with 2 or 3 year olds, especially if they're familiar with Cinderella. I loved it and am saving it. I'm sure my daughter will warm to it in the upcoming months. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Buy This for Yourself
I've been waiting for five years for this to come out on DVD because I know if I buy it on VHS I'll just have to buy more copies after I wear the first one out. This is one of the best animated movies of all times. It's an adorable cartoon without the saccharine overdose that many of them have. The hero is the adorable Danny, who dreams of becoming a movie star. The backup cast is just as enchanting, and are a little more jaded than the average cartoon character. The pacing is almost like speed, and it will sweep you up and hold you until the very end. If you want something deep, buy The Lion King. If you want something fun that will make you feel good, buy Cats Don't Dance. You won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cats Don't Dance is a really *cute* movie!!!
Its been a while since I saw this, but I remember how much I loved it after watching it once so I watched it again!!! Animals who all want to make it big in Hollywood, but can't because animals are'nt accepted to play anything, but animals, but they don't give up just yet!!!Darla Dimple is a totally bratty actress who tricks them and doesn't want them making it big doing whatever it takes to make sure they don't make it.! This is a very charming film for all ages and is a suitable film for the whole family so check out "Cat's Don't Dance"!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars And how does the kitty cat go?
Well, it's been a while since I've seen a musical cartoon not produced by Disney. The movie is about a small town cat who moves to Hollywood to try and become a star, but in Hollywood animals are not considered good enough to be actors. It's good for all ages and the music is great too. I would recommend buying the soundtrack as well.
And in my opinion I really see nothing wrong with this movie...but it doesn't leave you in awe or anything so it gets 4 out 5 stars from me. : )

The music is livelier than Disney has had in years, the animation is crisp, clean, and a treat for the eyes. Randy Newman really shows that cats can dance, sing, and make you feel good. In this raucous, high-energy action thriller from 1991, Michael J. Fox plays a spoiled Hollywood movie star who wants to bring vivid authenticity to his latest role as a big-city cop, so he recruits the real thing (James Woods) as his experienced mentor. This unlikely partnership doesn't sit too well with Woods, a hot-headed New York street cop who's a magnet for action-packed trouble. But that makes him just the right guy for Fox's research, which goes so far as to include Woods's girlfriend (Annabella Sciorra) and participation in some death-defying crime work. Fast, vulgar, and cranked at high volume, this is the kind of movie that contributed to the destruction of quality storytelling in mainstream Hollywood movies, but the screenplay scores bonus points for its lively characters and even livelier dialogue. Director John Badham is no slouch when it comes to action scenes, either, so if you buckle up and hold on tight, doing things The Hard Way can be surprisingly entertaining. To display the action in full widescreen glory, the DVD presents the film in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. --Jeff Shannon ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast, action-packed, tongue-in-cheek, comedy-thriller
Try to forget about plot and characterisation, and simply sit back and enjoy a good old-fashioned mis-matched buddy movie with the emphasis on laughs. The ever watchable Woods steals the show as usual, but is given a close run for his money by Michael J Fox, who gleefully sends-up his goody-goody image. Woods himself described his character as 'The most easily annoyed man in the world', who gets stuck with 'The world's most annoying man'. And so the scene is set for a series of confrontations between the mis-matched pair, while on the trail of a serial killer- The Party Crasher. Annabella Sciorra provides the token female character, losing out on the charisma stakes to a young Christina Ricca, as Woods' girlfriend, but to be honest her scenes seem out of place in what is otherwise a vehicle for the comedic talents of the two male leads. And when needed, Woods can be relied on to provide his customary grit to the proceedings. True it may be a bit of a 'no-brainer', but the two leading men spark off each other so well, you will enjoy it anyway. 'A Room With a View' it certainly isn't, and once in a while thank the lord for that!

2-0 out of 5 stars Funny, but stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid,stupid...but funny
Julia Sweeny, Dave Foley, Charles Rocket, Kathy Griffin and Tim Meadows. A great cast! But I was disapointed to be truthful. I love SNL movies, but this was probably the worst. Pat was funny...in some parts. But the hour and eighteen minutes that this movie last...it lags on. They could of made this a thirty minute short TV thing. I was disapointed to see Dave Foley in drag...again. I was glad to see Tim Meadows with a small role, he needs to get off of SNL and move on with his career or just find something else to do. Kathy Griffin was horrible, I just wanted her to go away. All in all, it was the stupidest movie I ever saw...but it was still pretty funny. Here's an example of SNL skits that shouldn't become movies...wink wink, nudge, nudge...night at the Roxbury?

5-0 out of 5 stars How about an "It's Chris"!
What a classic movie. I cannot believe this got negative reviews when it came out. The skits on SNL were great and the movie is one of the best comedies I have ever seen. I am so glad it finally came out on DVD. I love how just when you're about to find out what Pat is, there is always SOMETHING to get in the way. For example, in this movie we see Pat's drivers liscense, but a dog just happened to chew it up and one of the bite marks is dirrectly over the "sex" identification. I also love how conceited Pat is, when *it's* really the ugliest character I've ever seen.

Personally, I think Pat is the guy and Chris is the girl because of all the feminine clothes Chris wears. Also notice how Chris's hair changes length during the movie. I'd love to see a sequel, or a movie dedicated to Chris, but I don't think that would ever happen. Unfortunately. Hopefully there will be an SNL Best of Julia Sweeney DVD (amoung the others they have) and will include many of the Pat sketches.

Great movie. I can watch it over and over and never get bored.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst SNL movie ever!
My god stay away from this film it's terrible. It's not even funny from the sketch that I watch off SNL. It's only 76 minutes long! There are only a few parts that can be funny but the rest of the movie is just stupid. If you want to watch a better SNL movie go watch Wayne's World and Night at the Roxbury the rest of the SNL movies are dumb just like with the retarded movie Coneheads.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty funny
Androgyns are funny, just face it. Pat gets into all sorts of trouble but the creepy stalking neighbor steals the show. Love when he keeps trying to crack her password and the laptop goes "access denied...uhehehehe"

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst movies ever made
On Saturday Night Live, the "It's Pat" skits were always funny. The movie, however, was not. Yes, it is a very bad idea to take a few minute sketch and try to stretch the joke into a 90 minute movie. While it's is not a great movie it is pretty funny at times. Especially the neighbor who becomes so very psycho obsessive in trying to discover Pat's gender. ... Read more
