4-0 out of 5 stars Okay but to cheesey.
As I am writing this review, I am watching the movie. It has been a pretty long time since I have viewed it, and to tell you the truth, it's pretty good despite the cheesey lines and sort of bad acting. The action scenes are awesome.
I grew up with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers since they started in 1992, and until Power Rangers Turbo, I was their biggest fan. I watched as they gained their powers from Zordon, fought the pif who ate everything, Lord Zed took over, They got their new Zords and powers, Putties were replaced, The girl who could turn into the cat joined when Kimberly(who I still think is hot)left, and when Jason saved Tommy from the green candle.
Since all these things happened, the Power Rangers changed so many times I litteraly lost count. Probably because I can't really count higher than 6 but that is beside the point. What I mean is they have changed a lot and lost their first generation audience.
When I was sitting in the theater waiting for the Indian in the Cubard to start, I saw a preview that made me jump for joy. I actully think I screamed in the theater when I saw Ivan Ooze shoot a glob of slime on Rita's mouth.
They story begins when the team are jummping out of a plane for a charity thingy-ma-bobber. They discover that an evil guy named Ivan Ooze. They have to travel to a distant world to find a new energy source so they can defeat Ivan. They they meet an extremely hot warrior named Sofia. They get new costumes and new Zords.
This movie is somewhat entertaining and is kinda funny. I don't recomend it unless you are a young kid who doesn't know the origanal power rangers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Action packed fun
It may be a little cheesy to older viewers, but if you're like me, Power Rangers was your world when you were a kid. The action is fun, the effects are amazing, the actors are all VERY beautiful people, and its just general fun for the family. If you need a day to just escape, this movie is good to watch. Plus it has Kimberly(Amy Jo Johnson) who is VERY beautiful and the ONLY Pink Ranger worth watching. I stopped watching the series once she left, no other girl compares...

4-0 out of 5 stars *Shakes Head*
When this movie came out when I was a kid, I doubled over with excitement because it was state of the art and just downright awesome. Recently, I watched it again, except now I'm grown, and I couldn't help but laugh at the cheesiness of the movie. The reason I give it four stars is because overall, I remembered what it was like to be a kid again, imagining the possibility of these things and how cool the Power Rangers really were in their day. I would recommend it for nostalgic reasons; not for entertainment because it is over 10 years old and is, officially, cheesy.

5-0 out of 5 stars GO GO POWER RANGERS, YOU SUPER FANTASTIC POWER RANGER!!!
As the biggest Power Rangers fan in the world, I know that this movie is totally awesome!!! Thee Power Rangers' new costumes and zords are totally rad, the plot is great, and the humor is even better. I like the part where the rangers are ready to skydive and Bulk and Skull get freaked out and Aisha tells them that they should put on their airbag thingies and they said, "Good Idea." I also like when the Rangers are fighting Ivan Ooze's purple creepos and Billy gets slime all over his hand and says, "You Ooze You Lose." Well, that's true because Ivan Ooze oozes allot and the power rangers beat him bad!!! I recommend this movie wheather your 3, 63, inbetween, or even older than 63!!! This movie is great!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool movie for a cool series
INTRODUCTION:
The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was a classic sci-fi action series that debuted on FOX in 1993. This series tells the story of five teenagers who are given superhuman abilities to battle an evil empress who has her sights set on destroying the world. The series lasted for a number of seasons, and has spawned at least half a dozen spin-offs (all of which are inferior to this, the original series.) The series became wildly popular almost immeadiately, so just about two years after it debuted, a feature film was released! Read on for my review of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - The Movie.

BASIC PLOT:
This episode takes place between seasons two and three of the classic series. Lord Zedd has set out to resurrect an evil entity from hundreds of years ago called Ivan Ooze. He succeeds in this, but discovers that Ivan has a mind of his own. He imprisons Lord Zedd and Rita in a glass jar, and sets his sights on destroying the earth. He destroys the command center, which causes the Rangers to lose their power. Also, Zordon's glass jar was broken in the process, meaning he will die soon. Alpha says that there is enough power left to teleport them to a distant world where they can get a new source of power, and maybe save Zordon's life, but there's a problem. There isn't enough power to bring them back. If they fail to get the new power source, they'll be stranded on a distant world. They accept the task, and Ivan sets his sights on causing universal destruction.

FILM OPINIONS:
This is a pretty cool movie. Sure, it's very cheesy by modern standards, but back when I was a kid this stuff was state of the art. For the film, the Rangers outfits, the Command Center, and the city of Angel Grove, and the Rangers weapons got huge makeovers - and all for the better too. Only problem is these things only took on their new appearances for the movie - they didn't stay that way for the new season of the series. I bet that confused a lot of people! Although the plot has been done to death in the movie industry (there are enough "I want to destroy the world" movies out there), it's still a cool film.

OVERALL:
If you can find this movie for a good price, it's a worthwhile diversion from all of the junk that has been flooding the motion picture industry recently. If you're going to watch the Power Rangers, make sure it's the classic series - and not those lame spin-offs FOX has been showing in recent years.

SIDE NOTE:
The movie has recently been released on DVD, as a double feature with one of the movies for a later Power Rangers series. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent DVD...Good Value...Ok movies.
Back in the day, I used to be a huge fan of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. After that series ended, and was turned into Power Rangers Zeo (the incarnation immediately before Turbo), I quickly lost interest. That is, until this DVD was released. I always loved MMPR: The Movie when I was middle school. Now, as an adult, I find that the film still holds up fairly well. Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Arc) as Ivan Ooze is perfect. He brings exactly the right balance of wickedness and humor to the performance, which allows for many of the more memorable moments of the film to involve him. While the actors who play the Rangers may not be the most versatile in the business (look at the wooden delivery of the one-liners during the fight scenes), they still have a certain appeal which makes it easy to watch. Plus, in some key emotional scenes with their leader, Zordon, they do manage to raise their performance quality.
Of course, the true highlights of MMPR: The Movie are the excellent soundtrack/score. The music of the film really helps to tap into the emotional center of the film. Also, the upgraded costumes, and visual effects help raise the bar for what would have otherwise undoubtedly ended up being a horrible film.
With that said, we move on to Turbo: A Power Rangers movie. This film, while entertaining for one viewing, is a total disaster when watched back to back with Mighty Morphin. Everything that made MMPR: The Movie stand out was stripped away in favor of doing a standard television Power Rangers story on the big screen. As I said, it's alright for one viewing, but beyond that, I recommend sticking with the first Power Rangers movie.
The remainder of the DVD is just the trailers for both films as well as a couple of no effort five minute "making of" segments for each of the films.
The only reason I recommend buying this version with both films is because it is a better value than the individual releases of the two films, since the individual releases offer the exact same content, but on separate disks, as opposed to this where it's all on one.

5-0 out of 5 stars The first film is better
To whomever reads this the reason you are on this page is either you or a friend of yours abolutleyloved MMPR at one time and that being said, so did I. I was a huge fan of the series but as time drug on I grew out of it, but alas the first film is by far the best in the whole series, the film was actually a large scale film, it had special effects that were brand new in those days, an amazing story, and above all it was filmed in exotic locals, mainly set in Australia, but alas it was a great film, if they re-release the first film with more special features I would buy it. but as for Turbo: APRM It sucked and had a lower budget, not to mention they brought a kid in and made it ever worse with his acting. but by far the first film is the best and I still watch it on vhs.

Even though this film is old, it does prove that the PR have a lasting power, and have for nearly a decade, last year (2003) marked their 10th year anniversary and with nearly 200 episodes it will still be on as long as the simpsons, wow!

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish another one would come out
I am a huge fan of the show i have seen almost all the episodes. I think they did a great job making both movies. That would be nice if they had mad a third movie from the pris (power rangers in space). Know since they show new episodes i still don't know how are they getting there powers since zordon was destroyed. He was the only one who created the pr.

5-0 out of 5 stars Die hard fan still!
Okay, so I'm 18, most say too old to enjoy Power Rangers but who cares! Of course I'm only a die hard fan of the original first few seasons, up to space. Well, turbo was disappointing but...anyway the movies are nice, though I'm annoyed w/ dbl sided discs like this. Anyway the 1st movie is the best, totally kicks, and is what all power rangers is about. The second was less satisfying, and while I don't really find Justin annoying or not, they could have done better. So yeah, for power ranger fans this is great. Now if they'd only release season box sets, I'd be in total morphanominal heaven!

5-0 out of 5 stars Both Good!!
I'm 15 years old and I don't watch power rangers no more but I love the two movies! The first one was awesome. It had the best villian in the whole series and I liked the way their suits were. The second one was tight too but it wasn't as good as the first one. As low as they are costing now this is a good buy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Shift Into Turbo
The Power Rangers 1st movie was extremely popular. So were the first four seasons of the show, but this movie was unfortunately the beginning of the end for the show's popularity. The only thing I ever saw wrong with the Turbo Rangers was Justin. The idea of having an eleven year old for a ranger was just to off. Divatox was actually a good character to add. She was annoying and pushy just like Rita. The plot of this movie was good, but sadly short. What makes this movie really good is that unlike the first movie which had nothing to do with the series this movie actually blends in with the show. However in the end it didn't matter because after the show continued once the movie came out the show went down hill. The show amazingly still went on spanning off six more whole seasons and are now releasing a seventh, but the overall popularity of the show is nothing compared to what it used to be. Amazingly enough kids still watch the show. So now your probably thinking sense this movie was the start of the show's downfall it must suck. Wrong! The main reason why the movie failed is because many people in my generation were growing out of the show, in other words started saying, "The show is for kids." However hardcore fans like myself have stuck with the show till this day. I'm sure if the creators of the show decide or should I say dare bring out a third movie it'll probably do awful at the box office like this movie and I'll admit it's kind of hard for some people to stick with the show seeing how the show gets a whole new cast every year, but if you just like the overall theme of the show (Kids or in some cases young adults saving the world) then I say you'll like this movie. If like me you bought the video buy the DVD because I'm sure it's bound to wear out eventually. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining
Alright lets be honest.. This movie sucks. The only people who i think would honestly enjoy this movie, is fans of power rangers. the movie is completely power ranger related... 3 characters from the show appear in it... the director and producer worked on power rangers... the stunts are very simular... and i dont know if its just me but all the hench men seem to take falls just like the puddies did on power rangers... hmmmmmmmmm. well anyway besides the complete power rangers crew involved in this movie it does has its moments. who would have known "adam" and "skull" could make such a team? the action of jonny yung bosch is pretty impressive. makes me wonder why he is doing anime voice acting now instead of action shows/movies? jason narvy is just there for comic relief... his counterpart from power rangers, paul schrier (bulk) makes a brief appearance as a bar owner. the video is very bad.. looks like a normal sony cam corder that one could buy at a best buy... o well... if your a fan of power rangers then i can guarentee you'll enjoy this... but if your not a fan of power rangers.. then your prolly in for a big laugh

3-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I thought this was an excellent movie, then acting was great, martial arts sequences were awesome and it was a beleivable plot line. Johnny and Jason did a great job, though it was very different from their acting on the PR series, that's probably what they were going for... All in all, 3/5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great movie, though I'm biased.
Though the picture is a little grainy, and sound is a tad uneven, the movie itself is great! Though, you have to have an appreciation for such things. Loads of violence (all the stunts are real, by the way) and some cussing. Though, the most Johnny Bosch says is "hell," but others say worse. Besides the cool action and tight setting, it's a really s one of those things where you have to pay attention to the entire movie, or else you'll miss something that might come up later on. Not only does it have action and a good plot, there's comedy too. The two thieves (Billy Ray and Guile) have a little trademark that is sort of corny, but it's really cool. Just beware, there are a ton of cliches and corny phrases.

Other than the aforementioned faults (which there are few of), this movie is great for any original Power Rangers' fan or any martial arts fan!! Also for those who like movies about thieves on a mission!!

3-0 out of 5 stars not as good as it could be
this is a really good movie....plot wise anyway. the editing was pretty bad though. some of the shots look they were filmed with a home video camera. there is some dubbing done on speaking parts that is really noticable. other than that, the movie is great. lots of martial arts action and some funny one-liners.

1-0 out of 5 stars The 1 star is for the DVD quality, the movie gets 3 stars.
The reason why I gave the DVD a 1 star is because I don't think the releasing company didn't even take the time to even remaster the soundtrack! The picture quality looks old, grainy and weathered, the image is distorted and the colors are uneven. The sound-quality is a Dolby Digital 2.0 track, and it sounds like snakes hissing at the screen, but I don't see any snakes. The movie isn't even in Widescreen Presentation it's in the lousy Fullscreen Version.

Overall Grade:

Picture: NO STARS

Sound: NO STARS
Movie: *** out of *****

In case you're wondering this movie stars two of the cast members from the original Power Rangers show! Watch only if you can stand the terrible picture and sound. ... Read more
