Roger and JP are two children who live in a foster-home with a kind woman name Maggie. Roger and JP are in love with baseball and the local Anaheim Angels who play only a few blocks from their home. They sneak into every game that they are able to, to watch their beloved team. Roger, however feels sad quite often because he wants to be back with his troubled father. His father made a deal with him that he'd be back to pick him up if the Angels ever won the pennant. During one game Roger see's angels in the outfield helping a player making a catch, and at the plate, helping them hit. But nobody else can see them, not even JP. After they tell the manager about this he has Roger motions to him whenever he sees the angels. Then the Angels start winning after starting off the season very slow. With the help of the angels that Roger sees they win the pennant. Roger gets very sad because he will have to leave Maggie and JP, but his troubled father never comes to pick him up which breaks his heart. If you are looking for a great, funny baseball movie with a fantasy twist you should check out Angels in the Outfield.

Hallenback is a P.I. and scrounges for work wherever he can find it. So he takes up a job protecting a stripper named Cory and soon finds himself in a lot of trouble. Bad guys are trying to get him left right and centre and his bratty 13-year-old daughter tagging along doesn't help much. The bad guys are truly evil and Hallenback seems more like an anti-hero. This adds to the rough nature of the movie and heightens the sense of adventure. Tony Scott's style of direction is best suited to this type of action flick. The flashy, exotic editing and cinematographic techniques lend a lot to the witty script and compliment the seedy or pretty locations. Shane Black has also written dozens of one-liners and riddled the script with funny dialogue and exciting situations. It's no surprise that this was once the most expensive script ever sold in Hollywood. Some people say that this film is too violent and misogynist but I honestly cannot understand what they are talking about. I guess it was just a little out of the norm back in 1991. But still the tone of the film is so light and enjoyable you begin to wonder how this never made up for it. Check it out for yourself and I am sure that you will enjoy. The DVD is in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and is remastered in Dolby 5.1. Love that opening song, man
Of course, you could make a very good case against this film. Though I did not find it quite as woman-hating as some of the critics said it was upon the film's release, I would recognize that there is a subtle layer of misogyny throughout the movie---particularly with the two women characters in Joe Hallenbeck's life, his uncaring, cheating wife and his bratty, verbally abusive daughter---that might make some viewers more queasy than I was. And, objectively speaking, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is basically a retread of writer Shane Black's superior LETHAL WEAPON---a more foul-mouthed, ultra-violent retread with a lot of corny humor. This is an all-out testosterone-fest if I've ever seen one. If you've got a problem with people, just punch 'em in the "head or gut"---if anything else, that's the message of this movie. Really, Shane Black, where did your taste go since LETHAL WEAPON and LETHAL WEAPON 2? Despite all that, though, this movie still delivers what matters most in this genre: thrills and exciting action scenes. Having seen this movie only recently, I must say that it is probably one of the most exciting action pictures I've seen in a long while, perhaps enjoyable because of its excesses. Tony Scott definitely knows how to film action scenes well (the climactic action scenes in the football stadium is a good example of his skill here), and of course he brings his customary slick style to the material. And its plot, involving a ruthless attempt to legalize gambling in pro football, takes some kinda intriguing twists and turns along the way. (It's like a hardcore action-film version of one of those hardboiled detective films of the '40s.) In short, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is very trashy but still entertaining action movie that can be quite fun to watch, depending on whether you can overlook lapses of character logic (why on Earth is Shelly Marcone giving away his plan of framing Hallenbeck for Senator Baynad's murder just so Hallenbeck can outsmart 'em all?) as well as the more objectionable misogynistic aspects of the film. Personally, I felt a little guilty about enjoying it so much...but not guilty enough not to admit it. Marginally recommended.

Joe Pesci brings just as much to the table as Rodney here alternately feeding, then stealing the yucks. And Jeffrey Jones plays the perfect foil-the genesis of his famous Dean Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Add Taylor Negron and Tom Noonan, not to mention Jennifer Jason Leigh and you have some serious talent working hard for the money. And they're so good, they make it look easy.
He's a baby photographer who drinks, smokes, gambles, and eats too much. His best friend is Nicky, played hilariously by Joe Pesci. Monty's wife is the daughter of a wealthy shopping mall owner. When her mother dies in a tragic plane crash, Monty stands to inherit millions...But ONLY if he can give up smoking, drinking, gambling and lose weight for one year. Prior to this is an outrageous night on the town the night before his daughters wedding. The next day at church, the hung over Monty has no water to take his asprin..until he spies the holy water and scoops a handful out! After getting the news of his inheritance terms, Monty now has to struggle giving up his vices, while being constantly surrounded by temptations. Most of the temptations come via his scheming brother in law played by Jeffrey Jones who inherits the money if Monty fails. Hilarious scenes where Monty and his friends go the the race track and Nicky attacks a jockey who threw a race...Later nicky and Monty drive all over town, drunk and trying to find a place to eat. They pull up to a place as they are just closing, with a sign saying "open 23 hours". Later Nicky and Monty go to the mall that he will inherit and generally harass the prim and proper employees and customers. Very funny movie. Too bad there's nothing in the way of special features. Vastly underrated. One of the great comedies of the 1980's. The only weak part of the film is the sub-plot of Monte's daughter played by Jennifer Jason Leigh's marriage and separation to Julio. That kind of bogged down the comedy at times.
First of all, Rodney is in top form here as your average Joe Sixpack, and the actors playing his family are great too. Joe Pesci is a little underused, but his performance makes up for it. Writing and directing are top notch. The disc gives you a choice of either full-frame or widescreen formats, both crisp and clear. The sound is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 sound, and is excellent. The extras are lacking for this great a movie: only a trailer (presented in full-frame) is present, but the movie more than makes up for this. The movie focuses on two collage students from Tucson, who stumble apon an experimental dome, believing it was a mall. They stay at the dome and cause total chaos and drive the scientists inside crazy. Then they destroy the dome by having a huge party and become heroes when they clean it up. The humor was mainly from the stupidity of Bud(Pauly Shore)and Doyle(Stephen Baldwin). They acted like they were still in the eight grade with annoying and senseless humor. They were like the kind of people who could cheer you up when you were down. The movie did have its downs, though. The main charters didn't act their age. The humor was mainly aimed at young kids but had an "R" rating. The movie could have done good without the involvement of hemp. And Pauly Shore keep laughing after almost everything he said. But, that's why most people like the movie. Over all, I think the movie was great. It was very funny, had a great cast, and had a good plot to it.
'Bio-Dome' is essentially a glimpse of the hilarity that goes on in a seventh grade boy's locker room. Jokes about K-Y Jelly and flatulence abound, so if you think that is utterly hilarious, this movie may be for you. The only bright side to 'Bio-Dome' is this: it is the film that utterly killed Pauley Shore's screen career.

The director and co-writer commentary is outstanding. Every saying, character nickname, song selection has a story behind it. I'm surprised James Melkonian, the director has not been involved in more projects. This movie blows away 9/10 teen movies since 1982 easily. What can I say about the cast of characters (where did they come up with these guys): Tack, Dixie Cup Dean, Lanie, Mike Dick, Mike New York, Hanky, Jill's Dad, Crump's Brother, The Narly Eyeball, The Samoan Dude. It goes on and on... The music is great, even though they couldn't afford the Zeppelin/The Who tunes. Black Sabbath, Montrose, T-Rex, and of course BOC make this movie great. The dvd case has a reviewer quoted as saying "Better than Dazed and Confused". I 100% agree - D&C while a good film, is too boring - does every movie of the genre have to make you think about your future? Thought movies were there to help you escape a little. For once, a movie about cutting loose for a night - The Stoned Age. Don't fear the reaper!
The basic premise of the movie is well... take a friday night in Torrence, California, with two stoner friends/their equally braincell deprived buddies, and add a couple of chicks. Although it sounds lame and usual, the movie is best in that it does not take itself seriously. The movie doesn't try to make a few teenagers sound like english graduate students at 18 like present day envogue teen movies, instead it simply lets the characters... well be kids. It seems every character on the movie reminds me of someone I knew in High school. The most hilarious thing about the laughs in the movie, is the fact that they don't appear to be trying to make you laugh. Like dazed and confused, they simply find away to make you snicker almost every minute. The two main Characters, Hubbs and Joe, make a hysterical pair, but to me the most memorable character is "Tack". Tack(played by Clifton Gonzalez-Gonzalez)is such a loser(meant in a good way) its funny. The two "chick" roles(not counting the "buffalo butts girls") play outstanding as the counterparts to Hubbs and joe. Party girl Laney and walflower(and moody) Jill provide probably two of the most hilarious scenes of the movie when both of them pound Joe. The gist of the movie is, Joe and Hubbs only mission in life is to get as they so eloquently put it "Drunk, stoned, and laid". When the two find out about Laney and Jill from Tack, they see their night perfect and set out to fulfill the "night of our life" trifecta. However it seems everyone from Cops, Disco dancing store clerks, loser friends/cocky jocks, overzealous/pervert dads, and big samoan guys stand in there way. This intermixed with Joe "Wierding out" and scaring off chicks with his constant "Narly eyeball" remarks. Oh and did I mention a big, violence prone older brother that has personally eyed Laney and Jill as "his chicks". In the end(not gonna spoil the movie) Joe is still a wuss, and Hubbs is still the tough guy. However at least Joe drives the Blue Torpedo now(have to see the movie to get it) and finally stands up to Hubbs. Look for guest appearances by Frankie Avalon and Jill is none other then Grace Slick's daughter(there is your star power right there). Give it a try.. and when you start to find yourself offended by the movie... remember.. its just a movie and supposed to be fun.

Michael McKean, who plays the lead, has had a fine career, but I remember him best as Lenny Kosnowski on TV's "Laverne and Shirley"; Michael Richards who plays a bumbling mafia hit man became Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld; Patrick Macnee was John Steed of "The Avengers" from the sixties; and although I'm sure you recognized Dabney Coleman, do you remember him from "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"? Director Garry Marshall directed both "Laverne and Shirley" and "Mork and Mindy," which explains why "Young Doctors in Love" plays a little like a scattered sit-com. Nostalgic in a cameo was Jacklyn Zeman, who, last I heard, is still "Bobby" on General Hospital; and eye-popping in another cameo was Demi Moore, looking, I swear, a little like Monica Lewinski with muscles. (Moore was at the time also a regular on General Hospital.) This was the year (1982) in which the beautiful Sean Young, who plays the female lead here, was also presented in the classic sci fi "Blade Runner." Who can ever forget those close-ups as Harrison Ford examined her eyes to see if she was a replicant? The prize for best acting, however, goes to little known Pamela Reed as frigid mousy Nurse Norine Sprockett, who is sexually awakened by being romanced for her key to the drug cabinet, a surprising bit of reality amid the general mayhem.

Every since I was a kid I thought this movie was so funny. It just cracks me up! John Candy, Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase your basic 80's comedy team together in this film. They all have parts that are just hilarious and then you add Demi Moore. Also in one part of the movie there is appearance by 2PAC. He is in the band the is playing in the courtroom to avoid getting sent to jail. I will watch this movie whenever it is on cause I can't help but laugh. Watch this and you will know what I mean!

Directed by Tim Hunter (The Saint of Fort Washington, Tex) made a Strong, Terrific Drama that was Based on a Real-Life 1980 Murder Case. Glover & Dennis Hopper as a Leftover Biker & Druggie are the Standouts in this film. Reeves is also Good, in One of the First`s Starring Roles. This is a Absorbing (not completely perfect) Study of Contemporary & Alienation on Society to the Lives of Teenagers by Bringing Responsibility... This is a Disturbing & Thought-Provoking. One of the Strongest Dramas of the 80`s. Written by Neal Jimenez (For the Boys, Hideaway, Sleep with Me). Grade:A.
The main group of kids is composed of Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye and Roxana Zal. Keanu lives with his little terrorist brother, Josh Miller, an even younger sister, his single mother and her do-nothing boyfriend. The other main character is "Feck" played by Dennis Hopper. He is a criminal in hiding, and is the main source for "Feck weed". Some of the acting is either nearly over the top (Glover) or questionable (Reeves), but Dennis Hopper is great as a rather strange character with a past and a large love doll, Ellie, as a friend. Josh Miller as the younger trouble-making brother is disturbing and excellent. Although the movie is a drama and is rather unnerving, it has some unusual humor, most of it coming from Feck and the younger brother, who is about 10 or 11 years old. At one point the kid is mad and goes to see his friend at night and taps on his window - "Bring your numchuks. And get your dad's car. I know where I can get a gun". The movie is heavy on smoking and drinking among teens and pre-teens, rampant swearing by teens and pre-teens, and teen sex. Oh yeah, a full frontal nude girl, though she's dead and turning a few colors. The DVD has the widescreen movie, chapter, subtitles (French/Spanish) and a trailer. I strongly recommend it for Dennis Hopper and Josh Miller if nothing else.
Samson (AKA "John") is a not-so-gentle giant of a teen who impulsively strangles his girlfriend. Though the murder and murderer are quickly common knowledge to local high-school denizens, nobody immediately runs to the police. This doesn't keep just about everybody her age from gawking at her now stripped corpse when it's found along the river's edge. Various reasons keep Samson's peers from even alerting the police to the body - mostly they have to do with loyalty. In a bizarre twist, their loyalty stems not from Samson, but from his friend Layne, a local Death-Metal kid who is determined not to "narc" out one of his own. While the rest remain silent, Layne makes Samson's safety and escape his personal crusade. Matt (Keanu Reeves) stirs from the pack, and calls the police. At first a suspect (he can't explain to the police the delay) Matt's released, whereupon he pretends to help Layne keep Samson safe. Most of the film is confined to the late hours of a single night, when our characters split up and tragically collide. When police flood the streets looking for Samson, it's clear that somebody "Narced". Though Layne never suspects Matt, Matt's younger brother immediately fixates on his elder sibling's betrayal, and plots revenge. At first, Layne stashes Samson with Feck (Dennis Hopper), an elder pot-head who's on the run for murder, but Samson is too impulsive to stay in one place for very long. When Feck runs out of beer, the pair leave the safety of Feck's house for beer, bullets and a trip back to the river's edge. "River's Edge" is a stirring flick, but it's not quite the statement of society's collapse that it purports to be. (A nebbish, conservative student is put-down for just that sort of self-righteousness late in the story.) Just too much of the story doesn't add up. Matt's mom is simply weak - she's got a bossy live-in boyfriend, and looks to be have barely recovered from the sort of teenage existence now suffered by her kids. (instead of being emboldened, she's actually the weakest character in the flick - "I'm not your mother", she rants near the end "You're all mistakes!") Matt's brother plots revenge for Matt's treason - but he never connects with other characters in a way that suggests his loyalty. The other's are supposedly in sway to Layne, but Crispin Glover's mannerisms are less death-metal than post-modern mime (he simulcasts most of his lines with his hands) and he can barely hold himself together, let alone his peers. While separated from Layne, Matt uses his new-found inner strength to get closer to Clarissa (Ione Skye), but the story isn't sure which is really causing the other (maybe Clarissa is actually inspiring him to think past Layne). Especially weird is the way that while Layne searches for Samson, Matt runs into him at a liquor store after hours. There, using Feck's gun, and in front of Matt, Samson forces the storeowner to sell Matt beer. Matt never tells Layne of the meeting. The biggest hole is Feck. The flick tosses him and Samson together in a night that climaxes with something out of "Of Mice and Men" - but the script only partly succeeds in creating that intimacy between Feck and Samson. When Feck later says of Samson "he didn't love her", it's unclear whether he's referring to Samson's murdered girlfriend or to Elly, Feck's blow-up doll and captive passenger on that last night. That said, this is still an incredible flick. Crispin Glover is still unforgettable as Layne (after watching enough of "Edge" you may find it hard not to talk like him). The plot, for its holes, stays focused on that one last night. If the ending is way-too-pat, it's probably because the flick's ambition is more than it can achieve. In any case, I sat down for this click and couldn't pull myself away. Supposedly based on a true story, "River's Edge" should be appreciated on its own, without us having to wonder where the true story became a way-out cautionary tale of impulsive murder and misplaced loyalty. ... The central idea of a group of people who struggle against each other in a seemingly endless search for power is intriguing but hardly new. Brittany rules her clique with an iron rod, using sex as a weapon to get what she wants. This blatant excuse to have excessive nudity is thankfully handled tongue-in-cheek, which is an altogether wiser approach given the movie's 'made for TV' look. By far the most promising idea is that social rejection is the worst punishment that could be doled out to these kids, with staring eyes and accusing faces represented as infinitely worse than being locked up in an insane asylum. Also it's nice to have a heroine that isn't exactly perfect herself. That said, 'Heathers' was a much wittier, funnier take on the social structure in a high school and is something that 'The In Crowd' just can't compete with. Yet this is moderately entertaining, with a storming finale that involves prom queens in exquisite dresses chasing each other in high heels, with one carrying a heavy spade over her shoulder. Oh, and you might recognise Tom as the guy that played Percy in 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'.
It's the story of a former mental patient, Adrien, who is sent to work at a hip country club. She is soon involved in a wicked friendship with the sexy Brittany, who sees the image of someone else in Adrien, and therefore begins to act as her loyal companion. Through investigation and patience, Adrien finds that Brittany is nothing but an evil murderress. Like I said, the weak script and lack of talent in the actors destroy this would-be-good thriller. It's often suspenseful and sometimes scary, but usually it's quite boring and overly sexual to boot.

The characters are quite believable and I felt sympathy for some of them but not for others, particularly for Johnny Rebel Porn Star, played by Scott Gurney. Gurney's performance is quite good. Nevertheless, it's very difficult to feel anything good for either his character or his actions in the story. The Fluffer is a rather dark love story, but I enjoyed it for its honesty and reality. It's not romanticized in any way--quite refreshing for a gay film. It seems that many GLBT films struggle to make you like them but forcing emotions or plotlines. Not the case here. For that reason I gave it 4 stars overall. The acting rates 4 stars easily. The screenwriting a 3 and the dialogue a 2. However, the film's unflinching look at life and consequences makes it a strong and thought-provoking look at the lives of some gay (and straight) people's lives. Recommended.
Oh! Hot guy on the cover! Whats this movie about? Hmmm. Interesting. Lets watch it. Okay. Interesting. Stalker-esque type guy trying to hook up with a "Straight" gay porn actor. Hmmm. Hot porn star guy has drug addiction... yada yada ya... nothing new. Okay... pick up pace. Mmmm hmmm... The porn industry is sordid... moving on... angry pregnant girlfriend... Mexico... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Seriously. This movie sucked and not in the good way. I know its not supposed to be porn but the story and actors were so boring they could have at least made it little more steamy.
If you want to watch it for hot guys, then okay, but admit that to yourself (frankly, I've seen better looking on most commercials and soap operas). The acting is very sub-par and the script is a long drawn out effort to stretch a thin storyline: this story could have been told in 15 or 20 minutes. Basically, the plot is: Naive young Hollywood wanna be becomes a production assistant at a gay porn studio (can you see what's coming a mile away?). Eventually, he is asked to be the fluffer for the porn actor of his dreams (who just happens to be straight). One thing leads to another (you don't want me to give away what plot there is do you?) and we learn a little lesson about trust and naivity. Jeez-a-loo - gay oriented films of the late 90's and early 00's have become what French films were to the 1970's. Everyone wants to seem to be really cutting edge, so they watch them and like them (even though they really know most of them are terrible). In reality, there are good gay films and there are bad ones, just as there were good French films and bad ones too. This is a bad gay film. So scold it like your dog: "Bad gay film! Bad! ...
