3-0 out of 5 stars Uplifting Family Movie
I have heard many people say that this version of "Angels in the Outfield" is vastly inferior to the original 1954 movie. Well, if that's the case, the original must have been pretty darn spectacular, because this movie is very well-done. Roger and J.P. are foster children living under the temporary care of a kind woman named Maggie. Roger is the main character. His mother is dead, and his troubled father rarely visits, even when he promises to. One day, however, his father jokingly says that they have as much chance of being a family again as the last-place California Angels (now the Anaheim Angels) have to win the pennant. Roger takes this statement at face value and prays for heavenly help, which soon arrives in the form of angels who actually come onto the playing field to assist the team. This begins a wonderful summer in which the players, along with their disgruntled manager, start to believe in themselves and find the value of teamwork and courage. Although this is a good film for the entire family (only some very mild profanity and the awkward parent scenes are carried out appropriately), there are several issues that will not be missed by knowledgable (older) viewers. For example, the potential for racial trouble involving the manager and the two boys at the end of the film (I don't want to give it away!) is completely skipped over, although it is a very likely scenario. Although, it is a Disney movie, so everything is supposed to be too good to be true! Overall, "Angels in the Outfield" is an emotional, although sometimes unbelievable, story with a good message.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great baseball movie
I have seen this movie several times and never get tired of it. The acting in the movie is great and the story is cool too.

Roger and JP are two children who live in a foster-home with a kind woman name Maggie. Roger and JP are in love with baseball and the local Anaheim Angels who play only a few blocks from their home. They sneak into every game that they are able to, to watch their beloved team. Roger, however feels sad quite often because he wants to be back with his troubled father. His father made a deal with him that he'd be back to pick him up if the Angels ever won the pennant. During one game Roger see's angels in the outfield helping a player making a catch, and at the plate, helping them hit. But nobody else can see them, not even JP. After they tell the manager about this he has Roger motions to him whenever he sees the angels. Then the Angels start winning after starting off the season very slow. With the help of the angels that Roger sees they win the pennant. Roger gets very sad because he will have to leave Maggie and JP, but his troubled father never comes to pick him up which breaks his heart.

If you are looking for a great, funny baseball movie with a fantasy twist you should check out Angels in the Outfield.

2-0 out of 5 stars Pretty sappy stuff
Foster-child Roger (Joseph Gordon-Leavitt) prays for the California Angels to win the pennant in the mistaken belief that it will lead to reconciliation with his father (Dermot Mulroney). Angels begin to intervene on the Angels' behalf, bringing hope, faith, and a renewed sense of self-worth to bitter manager George Knox (Danny Glover) and his clumsy team. Diabetics should avoid this film at all costs. It goes for easy sentimentality every step of the way, leading to a very predictable outcome. Kids may like it, though I don't want to be the one to explain why God would pick sides in a sports contest, especially since He and his angels ought to be well aware that answering Roger's prayers will not lead to the outcome he so desperately desires. Oh well, if you can put your brain on hold and get misty-eyed over a stadium full of spectators flapping their arms like angels, you ought to have a good time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sentimental, Touching, and Sure to Make You Smile
While it's true that this movie has a high quantity of cheeziness, in this case it works. This movie reminds you that all things happen for a reason, even if you can't see it right away, it shows the value of beleiving, and it restores your faith in people.
The cast is very well chosen. All of the characters are well established, with very definite personalities, and all of the actors step up and fill their shoes nicely. Your heart will be touched a thousand times over during the course of this movie. You'll laugh, and you'll cry, and when the movie's over you'll feel like maybe the world is a little bit better place.
The film is greatly suited for children, as it doesn't involve the sort of foul humour that so many movies do now. It's just good old fashioned fun, as any baseball movie should be. There IS a heavy dose of morals in the mix. Beyond the over-all theme of believing in yourself, and having faith that God has a greater plan, the film also touches on the dangers of smoking, and how unnecessary profanity is.
Many scenes in this movie are truly beautiful and inspiring. Everytime the crowd stands up to flap their arms in support of Mel Clark (Tony Danza) I can't help but shed a tear, and when Roger's prayers are answered and he gets a family my heart melts all over again.
This movie is truly among the most uplifting of children's movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney at it's best
A spiritual film is what you could name it.Angels really have a presence on the field. They affect how the Basball Team the Angels play. They can help make dazzling catches and hits.Sounds unbelievedle. It is! To better understand the film you have to have imganination.A Christian know Angels do exsict So it's easy for them to not be cynical.Now..I know Angels don't do all those crazy stunts. But it's a very touching moment when Danny Glover the Angel informs his mystic friend Roger,A boy whose father left him, that one of the teamates is going to die and become a basball angel. He knows this six monthes before it happens. It really helps a person to think about divinity. As the foster mother says, players often pray before their big moment to God,so why are Angels running around so strange.Actually a thought provaking film Great for Families.(I heard a reviewer on Amazon critizes the boy Roger for believing his father will take him back if the Angels win the Penent.Geez,He's a child, clinging onto a lost hope. One in despair will ask for the impossible. And the Impossible happened.Just not the way Roger expected! ... In giving 1991's The Last Boy Scout a three-star review, critic Roger Ebert was properly performing his duty as an objective reporter, praising the filmmakers' professional skill while observing that "the only consistent theme of the film is its hatred of women." For the purposes of this capsule review, there's no such obligation to level-headed fairness; the simple truth is, this ultraviolent, action-packed vehicle for Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans is disgustingly rotten to the core. Not only is it fueled by a bitter and spiteful attitude toward women, it's also the kind of profanely vulgar movie that doesn't hesitate to put foul-mouthed children in the path of vicious thugs and potentially deadly situations. Willis plays an ex-secret service agent turned private detective who is hired to protect a stripper (Halle Berry) and then teams up with the stripper's boyfriend (Wayans), a disgraced NFL star who was kicked out of football for gambling. They catch on to a criminal plot leading all the way up to a corrupt football team owner who wants to legalize gambling on pro football. Willis and Wayans get in and out of all sorts of trouble along the way, and naturally there are plenty of explosions to go along with the brutal beatings, gunfire, and constant cussing. Shane Black (of Lethal Weapon infamy) set a Hollywood record (since broken, several times) for the sale price of his slick but vile screenplay, and Top Gun director Tony Scott handles the action with his trademark gloss and high-impact style. But, seriously, is this a movie that anyone could bear to watch twice? --Jeff Shannon ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Much fun indeed.
Back in 1991 there was still only one way that studios could sell Bruce Willis and that was as various incarnations of his Die Hard hero. Even Eddie (Hudson) Hawkins had similarities to John McClane. Joe Hallenback is a sort of mix between McClane and Snake Plissken. Watching him mumble and grunt thru various near-deaths and close shaves makes for much fun.

Hallenback is a P.I. and scrounges for work wherever he can find it. So he takes up a job protecting a stripper named Cory and soon finds himself in a lot of trouble. Bad guys are trying to get him left right and centre and his bratty 13-year-old daughter tagging along doesn't help much. The bad guys are truly evil and Hallenback seems more like an anti-hero. This adds to the rough nature of the movie and heightens the sense of adventure.

Tony Scott's style of direction is best suited to this type of action flick. The flashy, exotic editing and cinematographic techniques lend a lot to the witty script and compliment the seedy or pretty locations. Shane Black has also written dozens of one-liners and riddled the script with funny dialogue and exciting situations. It's no surprise that this was once the most expensive script ever sold in Hollywood.

Some people say that this film is too violent and misogynist but I honestly cannot understand what they are talking about. I guess it was just a little out of the norm back in 1991. But still the tone of the film is so light and enjoyable you begin to wonder how this never made up for it. Check it out for yourself and I am sure that you will enjoy.

The DVD is in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and is remastered in Dolby 5.1. Love that opening song, man

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Trash Movie
This movie is one of those love it or hate it movies. I loved it. "The Last Boy Scout" is where Bruce Willis is a low down private detective who is hired to watch a stripper. When she is murdered, Willis and the stripper's boyfriend, a fallen NFL hero (Damon Waynes), track down the killers. The conspiracy is all about corruption and pro football gambling. The banter between Willis and Waynes is very funny, although very sexist and racist sometimes. They both are world weary, and have been burned and are disillusioned and cynical, which is where much of the humor comes from. But the action is fast, brutal, and angry. This fast paced thriller is in the vain of "Die Hard" (once again produced by Joel Silver, I love this guy!). Director Tony Scott's hyper speed dircecting keeps the pace in high gear at all times. But there are a lot of things people might not like, like the 12-year-old girl with a mouth like Andrew Dice Clay's. I really dug this movie, it's everything that a "guys movie" should be; violent, vulger, with really seedy humor. Enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very trashy but still entertaining action flick
Tony Scott's THE LAST BOY SCOUT may be trash, but for an action flick it is very well-made, highly entertaining trash.

Of course, you could make a very good case against this film. Though I did not find it quite as woman-hating as some of the critics said it was upon the film's release, I would recognize that there is a subtle layer of misogyny throughout the movie---particularly with the two women characters in Joe Hallenbeck's life, his uncaring, cheating wife and his bratty, verbally abusive daughter---that might make some viewers more queasy than I was. And, objectively speaking, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is basically a retread of writer Shane Black's superior LETHAL WEAPON---a more foul-mouthed, ultra-violent retread with a lot of corny humor. This is an all-out testosterone-fest if I've ever seen one. If you've got a problem with people, just punch 'em in the "head or gut"---if anything else, that's the message of this movie. Really, Shane Black, where did your taste go since LETHAL WEAPON and LETHAL WEAPON 2?

Despite all that, though, this movie still delivers what matters most in this genre: thrills and exciting action scenes. Having seen this movie only recently, I must say that it is probably one of the most exciting action pictures I've seen in a long while, perhaps enjoyable because of its excesses. Tony Scott definitely knows how to film action scenes well (the climactic action scenes in the football stadium is a good example of his skill here), and of course he brings his customary slick style to the material. And its plot, involving a ruthless attempt to legalize gambling in pro football, takes some kinda intriguing twists and turns along the way. (It's like a hardcore action-film version of one of those hardboiled detective films of the '40s.)

In short, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is very trashy but still entertaining action movie that can be quite fun to watch, depending on whether you can overlook lapses of character logic (why on Earth is Shelly Marcone giving away his plan of framing Hallenbeck for Senator Baynad's murder just so Hallenbeck can outsmart 'em all?) as well as the more objectionable misogynistic aspects of the film. Personally, I felt a little guilty about enjoying it so much...but not guilty enough not to admit it. Marginally recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Last Boy scout says it best.
The best action movie of the 90's hands down! All this crap about the film being misogynistic is ridiculous. Willis' character is a burned out, embittered, down and out, has-been PI and former secret service agent ("a long time ago he saved the president's life" )who has seen too much and who has no faith left in anything. He is in a bad marriage, never home, drinks too much, a victim of marital infidelity. But he is still in love with his wife. ("I wish the sky wasn't blue, I wish water wasn't wet. I wish I didn't still love my wife.") He is a man's man of the old school; strong and ever silent with a black and white morality. He is loyal to a fault, taking on the case of the stripper and her boyfriend to avenge the car-bombing death of his best friend (who was sleeping with his wife.) His foul mouthed daughter is screaming for discipline which she finds (and drinks in ) at the end of the film. The one liners are great. The action scenes are awesome. The justice meted out in the end is fitting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not for the Faint of Heart
One of the most brutal, foul mouthed, and unrepentent action movies to come out of the early 90's. Adding the child to the action scenes and profanity laced screaming matches is gutsy, to say the least. Last Boy Scout is also smart, funny, fast paced & intense. Willis is a drunken P.I. & Wayan is a banned football QB. They're both losers. Most of the movie involves them running around L.A. shooting and punching people. The plot is some nonsense about legalizing sports gambling. Worth repeated viewings. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Rags-To-Riches story, starring Rodney Dangerfield as himself
This movie is a vehicle for Dangerfield, who plays the part of Monty Cappaletti, baby photographer. Amidst family hassles, including his lovely daughter's marriage to a Puerto Rican macho-dude who drives a Chevy low-rider, Cappaletti stands to inherit millions from his mother-in-law's department store estate, if only he can stay clean and sober for a year. Joe Pesci co-stars as Cappaletti's best friend, who doesn't afford much assistance with the "clean and sober" task at hand. This is no "Caddyshack" (a comedy classic!), but it's a pleasant and funny movie. The wedding scenes are hilarious; Rodney's "regular guy" wardrobe is superb.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Rodney Dangerfield movie. Really.
Not a single classless cliché has been omitted from this all-time comedy classic. From the lime-green and lavender wedding gowns and the magic fingers bed assist, to the all timer, the "Regular Guy Look", Easy Money just keeps coming at you with one hilarious situation, another memorable line after another.

Joe Pesci brings just as much to the table as Rodney here alternately feeding, then stealing the yucks. And Jeffrey Jones plays the perfect foil-the genesis of his famous Dean Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Add Taylor Negron and Tom Noonan, not to mention Jennifer Jason Leigh and you have some serious talent working hard for the money.

And they're so good, they make it look easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars DANGERFIELD AT HIS VERY BEST!!!
Caddyshack not withstanding, I have always thought that "Easy Money" was Rodney Dangerfields funniest movie. Rodney plays Monty, a family man living in suburban New York.

He's a baby photographer who drinks, smokes, gambles, and eats too much. His best friend is Nicky, played hilariously by Joe Pesci. Monty's wife is the daughter of a wealthy shopping mall owner. When her mother dies in a tragic plane crash, Monty stands to inherit millions...But ONLY if he can give up smoking, drinking, gambling and lose weight for one year.

Prior to this is an outrageous night on the town the night before his daughters wedding. The next day at church, the hung over Monty has no water to take his asprin..until he spies the holy water and scoops a handful out!

After getting the news of his inheritance terms, Monty now has to struggle giving up his vices, while being constantly surrounded by temptations. Most of the temptations come via his scheming brother in law played by Jeffrey Jones who inherits the money if Monty fails.

Hilarious scenes where Monty and his friends go the the race track and Nicky attacks a jockey who threw a race...Later nicky and Monty drive all over town, drunk and trying to find a place to eat. They pull up to a place as they are just closing, with a sign saying "open 23 hours".

Later Nicky and Monty go to the mall that he will inherit and generally harass the prim and proper employees and customers. Very funny movie. Too bad there's nothing in the way of special features. Vastly underrated. One of the great comedies of the 1980's.

The only weak part of the film is the sub-plot of Monte's daughter played by Jennifer Jason Leigh's marriage and separation to Julio. That kind of bogged down the comedy at times.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unlike the wife next door, this DVD is worth $10 million.
Monty Capuletti (Rodney Dangerfield), a hard working but lovable man, is in a bit of a stitch. He stands to inherit 10 million dollars when his snobby mother-in-law (Geraldine Fitzgerald) goes down in a plane crash. The catch: he must curb all vices for one year, which include overeating, smoking, drinking, gambling and debauchery. If he cannot reform, the moolah goes to Clive Barlow (Jeffrey Jones), a greedy relative who tries to trip up Monty on his $10 million quest, but he gets help from his best friend (Joe Pesci) and his family. Can Monty do it? Subplots involve his oldest daughter's wedding, and Monty pioneering the new fashion for his late mother-in-law's store: The Regular Guy Look.

First of all, Rodney is in top form here as your average Joe Sixpack, and the actors playing his family are great too. Joe Pesci is a little underused, but his performance makes up for it. Writing and directing are top notch. The disc gives you a choice of either full-frame or widescreen formats, both crisp and clear. The sound is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 sound, and is excellent. The extras are lacking for this great a movie: only a trailer (presented in full-frame) is present, but the movie more than makes up for this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Can I Call You Dad?
Hilarious Rodney Dangerfield film with a great plot & situations, classic lines, and Joe Pesci! Rodney plays Monty, a "family man" and baby photographer in Staten Island, NY whose mother-in-law has passed away. In her will she has left Monty millions of dollars if he can give up all vices (smoking, drinking, gambling, carousing, overeating)for one year. Rodney's not all that bad. He loves his family and most of all, loves children..hence his profession. How he handles children while he works is evident in the opening of the film which is very touching. The plot revolves around Monty trying give up his temptations and he is helped by his family in various ways and by his good friend Nicky (a hilarious Joe Pesci). In the meantime, Clive (Jeffrey Jones) an associate of Monty's mother-in-law is trying in every way to stop Monty from gaining that inheritance by underhandedly tempting him in various ways. Also, there is a subplot of his daughter,Allison (Jennifer Jason Leigh-FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH), upcoming marriage to Julio (Taylor Negron - THE LAST BOYSCOUT). Most ot the scenes are tailored for Dangerfield's one-liners and his misadventures with Pesci. Also, there is a hilarious segment where Monty develops a new fashion look called the "Regular Guy Look" based on bowling shirts and baggy polyester pants. There are a few tender moments showing that Dangerfield has a little depth beneath the patter and works well in the film. Overall, a very entertaining film with funny characters, decent and funny story , script and a great title song written and performed by Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famer, Billy Joel from his "Innocent Man" album dedicated to the 60's soul sound. Note / Classic Line: Monty(Dangerfield) - "My Mother-In-Law...All those years I wouldn't kiss her on the face, and I end up kissing her ---!" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the most funniest movies i've ever seen.
This a very humorous movie. Although it didn't become a big hit, it is still a classic. It had the right stars to play the main charters(Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin).

The movie focuses on two collage students from Tucson, who stumble apon an experimental dome, believing it was a mall. They stay at the dome and cause total chaos and drive the scientists inside crazy. Then they destroy the dome by having a huge party and become heroes when they clean it up.

The humor was mainly from the stupidity of Bud(Pauly Shore)and Doyle(Stephen Baldwin). They acted like they were still in the eight grade with annoying and senseless humor. They were like the kind of people who could cheer you up when you were down.

The movie did have its downs, though. The main charters didn't act their age. The humor was mainly aimed at young kids but had an "R" rating. The movie could have done good without the involvement of hemp. And Pauly Shore keep laughing after almost everything he said. But, that's why most people like the movie.

Over all, I think the movie was great. It was very funny, had a great cast, and had a good plot to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An award winner, not a bomb!
I read on a website that this film was rated as a "BOMB". That is the worst rating I've ever heard for one of the funniest movies ever. Non-stop laughs! Pauly Shore is a comic genius, and he shows it in this movie. If you're a serious comedy lover, this is a must-have DVD. So buy it here at Amazon!

1-0 out of 5 stars It's Just Like Seventh Grade
I watched 'Bio-Dome' under extreme protest. I didn't really expect much, but I had no idea how wretched it would truly be. Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin star as Bud and Doyle, two losers who inadvertently get trapped in the 'Bio-Dome' scientific research station and hilarity (allegedly) ensues. Adding to the agony is an early screen appearance by Jack Black.

'Bio-Dome' is essentially a glimpse of the hilarity that goes on in a seventh grade boy's locker room. Jokes about K-Y Jelly and flatulence abound, so if you think that is utterly hilarious, this movie may be for you. The only bright side to 'Bio-Dome' is this: it is the film that utterly killed Pauley Shore's screen career.

1-0 out of 5 stars Makes Carrot Top Seem Handsome, and Adam Sandler Seem Funny
I watched 'Bio-Dome' under extreme protest. I didn't really expect much, but I had no idea how wretched it would truly be. Pauly 'The Weasel' Shore and Stephen Baldwin star as Bud and Doyle, two losers (there's a casting surprise!) who, thinking they are going to a mall, inadvertently get trapped within a futuristic 'Bio-Dome' scientific research station, and hilarity (allegedly) ensues. This makes 'Chairman of the Board' starring Carrot Top look like a serious contender for an Academy Award. Adding to the agony is an early screen appearance by the mega-untalented Jack Black, as if Pauly and Stephen weren't more than enough to discourage you.

'Bio-Dome' is essentially a glimpse of the hilarity that goes on in a seventh grade boy's locker room. Jokes about K-Y Jelly and flatulence abound, so if you think that is utterly hilarious, this movie may be for you. The good news is this: this is the film that utterly killed Pauley Shore's screen popularity, so for that I say thank you to the producers of 'Bio-Dome' for making this pile.

5-0 out of 5 stars Viva Los Bio Dome!
A cult classic. Son-In_law is my favorite but this is a close second. Over the years I have watched this movie at least 30 times. When it comes to the party scene at the end it gets a little weak. Pauly and Steven Baldwin feed off each other like they grew up together. "Hey, Faulkner! Quit hoggin the KY!" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the funniest movies ever
The movie starts and ends with the two main characters, Joe and Hubbs, out on a Friday night trying to get drunk, stoned, and laid..... Yeah, not too deep, but can't you identify with at least part of the concept?

This movie has so much great dialogue that I cannot even start to get into it, as I'll go on all night.

The director and co-writer commentary is outstanding. Every saying, character nickname, song selection has a story behind it. I'm surprised James Melkonian, the director has not been involved in more projects.

This movie blows away 9/10 teen movies since 1982 easily.

What can I say about the cast of characters (where did they come up with these guys): Tack, Dixie Cup Dean, Lanie, Mike Dick, Mike New York, Hanky, Jill's Dad, Crump's Brother, The Narly Eyeball, The Samoan Dude. It goes on and on...

The music is great, even though they couldn't afford the Zeppelin/The Who tunes. Black Sabbath, Montrose, T-Rex, and of course BOC make this movie great.

The dvd case has a reviewer quoted as saying "Better than Dazed and Confused". I 100% agree - D&C while a good film, is too boring - does every movie of the genre have to make you think about your future? Thought movies were there to help you escape a little. For once, a movie about cutting loose for a night - The Stoned Age.

Don't fear the reaper!

5-0 out of 5 stars Will not win an oscar.. but will never go out of style.
I waited up till 2 in the morning to first watch the Stoned age after hearing good things about it. I was not dissapointed. The movie is a cult classic and is better then that darling of critics "Dazed and Confused"(which is saying something).

The basic premise of the movie is well... take a friday night in Torrence, California, with two stoner friends/their equally braincell deprived buddies, and add a couple of chicks. Although it sounds lame and usual, the movie is best in that it does not take itself seriously. The movie doesn't try to make a few teenagers sound like english graduate students at 18 like present day envogue teen movies, instead it simply lets the characters... well be kids. It seems every character on the movie reminds me of someone I knew in High school. The most hilarious thing about the laughs in the movie, is the fact that they don't appear to be trying to make you laugh. Like dazed and confused, they simply find away to make you snicker almost every minute.

The two main Characters, Hubbs and Joe, make a hysterical pair, but to me the most memorable character is "Tack". Tack(played by Clifton Gonzalez-Gonzalez)is such a loser(meant in a good way) its funny. The two "chick" roles(not counting the "buffalo butts girls") play outstanding as the counterparts to Hubbs and joe. Party girl Laney and walflower(and moody) Jill provide probably two of the most hilarious scenes of the movie when both of them pound Joe.

The gist of the movie is, Joe and Hubbs only mission in life is to get as they so eloquently put it "Drunk, stoned, and laid". When the two find out about Laney and Jill from Tack, they see their night perfect and set out to fulfill the "night of our life" trifecta. However it seems everyone from Cops, Disco dancing store clerks, loser friends/cocky jocks, overzealous/pervert dads, and big samoan guys stand in there way. This intermixed with Joe "Wierding out" and scaring off chicks with his constant "Narly eyeball" remarks. Oh and did I mention a big, violence prone older brother that has personally eyed Laney and Jill as "his chicks".

In the end(not gonna spoil the movie) Joe is still a wuss, and Hubbs is still the tough guy. However at least Joe drives the Blue Torpedo now(have to see the movie to get it) and finally stands up to Hubbs. Look for guest appearances by Frankie Avalon and Jill is none other then Grace Slick's daughter(there is your star power right there).

Give it a try.. and when you start to find yourself offended by the movie... remember.. its just a movie and supposed to be fun.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst flick ever
I had heard of this movie for years, and when it came on cable, I decided to watch it. Biggest waste of time. No plot, crappy acting, and little to no pot smoking in the entire movie. Go stare at a wall, and you will be more entertained than watching this P.O.S.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Cruisin'
I saw this in the theater(yup, it actually had a theatrical release for a day or so) at the perfect age-17. Anyone who went to high school can recall the years of 16 and 17 to be the years of that mindless activity called "cruising"(of course, I know some losers in their 30s who continue to do this, I'm sure you do too). At that age you could drive, but you couldn't buy cigarettes, liquor or get into a bar, so what could you do? Go cruising! The idea was to meet girls with varying degrees of success. If you can relate to that, you'll get some degree of entertainment from The Stoned Age which starts off with this premise. This film is over exaggerated but ironically very realistic at the same time. Everyone knew someone like Tack-some annoying schmuck who would usually find his way into your car somehow. Everyone's also ended up at a party thrown by a bunch of idiots from a totally different "class" or "scene" than you. And who didn't know a couple of "Buffalo Chicks?" If you were one of those guys who took the "nice guy" approach to getting women, you'll totally identify with Joe. You can literally feel his frustration as he desperately attempts to woo the amazingly sexy Laney, only to have her jump in the sack with a sexist jerk who seduces her through...well....acting like a jerk. If you were a womanizing jerk like Hubbs, then you'll relive fond memories as you watch him get the chick through the most juvenile tactics available. I didn't grow up in the 70s, but it was the perfect setting for this film. The lingo is accurate, the music great, and the issues and concepts are still relevant today; The rich disco kids and their hatred for the lower/middle class hard rock stoners for example. Cruising, of course. People should really stop the comparisons to Dazed and Confused. That quote on the box was a bad idea, the director even says so in the commentary track! Two different films, folks. The only thing they have in common is the time period and some stoner characters. Would you compare Monty Python and The Holy Grail to Excalibur coz they take place in the same time period and have a few similar themes? Back to the music I mentioned before, I was very impressed with the soundtrack. In the commentary, the director mentions that this whole film was to be strictly Led Zeppelin songs, but it couldn't be done financially. Thank God for that! That would have been way too cliche. This movie works so much better with a soundtrack with no Led Zeppelin. God forbid there were other bands in the 70s other than Zeppelin, alot of them better, believe it or not. In this film we get songs by Ted Nugent, Deep Purple, Focus, Montrose, references to the Scorpions, and The Blue Oyster Cult takes center stage. That's cool coz BOC don't get the respect they deserve anymore. The cast of unknowns does a decent enough job. I'm not sure why the character of Jill is refered to as an "oinker" and "hoagley". Throughout the film, we keep getting reinforced the notion that Jill is supposed to be unattractive. Well, just watch the film and see if you think Jill is unattractive. Sure, maybe she doesn't leap off the screen like Laney, but she is one good looking woman. Of course, Laney is always dressed skimpy while Jill is isn't. Jill also looks the most 70s, Laney doesn't. Anyhow, this film is a sure gem to discover if you did the cruising thing in high school or were a teenager in the 70s. Also, to really enjoy this, totally disregard that Dazed and Confused quote on the box.

Love the movie, I wish it was on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Airplane" Gets hospital teatment
Jammed full of soon-to-be-stars(or at least well-known performers) had tough job to better other hospital satires, and succeeds. Gags are just as good or better than most send-ups of this type, and story has beginning, middle and ending. Loved Dr. Prang's (Dabney Coleman's)role. Michael McKeon delightful obsessive-compulsive. Strictly for those who can enjoy this type of comedy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Right On The Pulse!
Very, very funny send up of the daytime hospital soap operas. Lots of jokes. Some don't work....most do!! I don't want to repeat any here but pay attention, because they come thick and fast....'Airplane' style. Dabney Coleman and Harry Dean Stanton really crack me up, and it's hard to look at a young Michael McKean and not think of "Spinal Tap." The main thing I want to draw your attention to is something that worried me when I first ordered this tape. At such a reasonable price, I thought it might be recorded in the dreaded EP mode. IT ISN'T!! It is a fine print from Anchor Bay in SP mode, great price, funny as H*LL, do yourself a favor and check it out. I'm glad I did.

3-0 out of 5 stars A movie as a sit-com as a parody of a soap opera
There are some yucks in this burlesque of TV's General Hospital, but you've got to concentrate. What is interesting is the cast and what has become of them since, and what they were before, especially in TV land.

Michael McKean, who plays the lead, has had a fine career, but I remember him best as Lenny Kosnowski on TV's "Laverne and Shirley"; Michael Richards who plays a bumbling mafia hit man became Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld; Patrick Macnee was John Steed of "The Avengers" from the sixties; and although I'm sure you recognized Dabney Coleman, do you remember him from "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"?

Director Garry Marshall directed both "Laverne and Shirley" and "Mork and Mindy," which explains why "Young Doctors in Love" plays a little like a scattered sit-com. Nostalgic in a cameo was Jacklyn Zeman, who, last I heard, is still "Bobby" on General Hospital; and eye-popping in another cameo was Demi Moore, looking, I swear, a little like Monica Lewinski with muscles. (Moore was at the time also a regular on General Hospital.)

This was the year (1982) in which the beautiful Sean Young, who plays the female lead here, was also presented in the classic sci fi "Blade Runner." Who can ever forget those close-ups as Harrison Ford examined her eyes to see if she was a replicant?

The prize for best acting, however, goes to little known Pamela Reed as frigid mousy Nurse Norine Sprockett, who is sexually awakened by being romanced for her key to the drug cabinet, a surprising bit of reality amid the general mayhem.

3-0 out of 5 stars Young Doctors in Love
This movie does for medical school what "Airplane!" did for airline disaster movies. It is a must-have for those with a love of the "B-side" comedy and have a few extra beers. It follows the paradigm of a soap opera with all the cliches. Without giving away too much, an assorted bunch of characters pursue their medical degree (and each other) and move through their residency. Good for some very good laughs: "Due to a mix up in urology, there will be no apple juice served today." Oh, yeah, Demi Moore and Sean young... ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars "Dumb, not funny, not scary, but still entertaining
It's true what critics say. Nothing But Trouble isn't Chevy Chase's, John Candy's, and Dan Aykroyd's best comedy though it still entertains. It truly is a lot like Beetlejuice though the ending is horrible. Chevy Chase stars as Chris, a stock market whiz and millionaire who wants to go to Atlantic City with investment lawyer Demi Moore. However, one small violation (Candy plays the cop who brings them in) leads them to Valikenvania, a whole place filled with wrecked yards and a big unclean mansion. In there theyfind the 106 year old Alvin Valkenheiser (Aykroyd), a judge with a extreme grudge for bankers (he thinks Chase is a banker) and has ways to punish people for breaking the law. And as Moore and Chase run through booby traps and rooms, they meet up with several ugly-looking characters (especially those two dirty fat man who Aykroyd plays). John Candy also has another role as Valkenheiser's daughter (that's right, he has a girly part). The script is not Academy-Award deserving but it's not the worst script you've ever read. It's not a complete all star cast but who cares. Aykroyd looks horrible in the movie and though some things are way too unbelievable, I thought it was an an entertaining and creepy movie with a little comedic twist thrown in. You should probably rent it first before you buy it. This is the kind of movie that'll be boring the fourth or fifth time you watch it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thought it was great!
Chevy Chase and Demi are on their way to Atlantic City and then they get pulled over by a small town cop and the fun begins from there. The cop tells them they have to follow him to the court house and the judge will make a decision on their punishment. They judge decides they have to stay the night and appear in court the next morning but during the night they try to escape and get caught in the fun house. Lets just say this is not a normal house.

Every since I was a kid I thought this movie was so funny. It just cracks me up! John Candy, Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase your basic 80's comedy team together in this film. They all have parts that are just hilarious and then you add Demi Moore. Also in one part of the movie there is appearance by 2PAC. He is in the band the is playing in the courtroom to avoid getting sent to jail.

I will watch this movie whenever it is on cause I can't help but laugh. Watch this and you will know what I mean!

3-0 out of 5 stars All I Can Say Is Not So Good
You would think with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd in it,it would be pretty good.It turned out it wasn't that good as you would expect. I would forget this one,its just boring.

worst movie ever. its full of good actors. you watch it hopeing it will get better but it never does. dont waist your time on it. i dont give it a star but thats the lowest i can give it

4-0 out of 5 stars This movie scares me
It scares the crap out of me, actually. It's not so much a comedy as the embodying fear of being trapped in a nightmarish junk house populated my mutants, psychos and Chevy Chase. It's not what you would expect from the usual Aykroyd or Chase movie, but it is surreal and unique. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars "American Graffiti" meets "American Psycho"
Before Larry Clarke's uber-nihilistic "Kids" (and the real-life Columbine tragedy) came along and made this movie look like a wacky Disney romp, Tim Hunter's "River's Edge" WAS the most disturbing look at modern teenage alienation ever put on film. Based on a true story, "River's Edge" examines a group of high school stoners and thier reactions (or inaction) to the thrill kill murder of one of thier friends by her boyfriend. The resulting angst, confusion, guilt and conflicted peer-pressure loyalty issues makes for cracking drama, and the talented, well-directed ensemble cast is more than up for it. Crispin Glover steals the show with a decidedly weird, but compelling performance as the "alpha" of the teen pack. Co-star Dennis Hopper once stated in an interview that of all the young actors he has worked with since he appeared in "Rebel Without A Cause", Glover comes the closest (in terms of acting presence, not 'looks') to capturing James Dean's ghost. Keanu Reeves turns in a great performance, making it even more puzzling why he has since evolved into such an inert mannequin onscreen. The most interesting aspect of the film is that the more times you see it (and it does stand up to repeat viewings) the more darkly comic it becomes; not "ha-ha funny", but "funny" in the same way "To Die For" and "Punch-Drunk Love" are "funny". Not to be missed by any fan of intelligent, well-made cinema.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Fascinating Drama.
When a Disturb Teen (Daniel Roebuck) murder his girlfriend, a young trouble making boy (Joshua Miller) saw what happen by far.
When he tells his Older Brother (Keanu Reeves) & anothers about it, they don`t believe him. Once they see the Dead Body of the Person, they knew. They don`t know, how to react & with almost no sense of feeling. When a Wild out of Control teen (Crispin Glover) tries to Control the Situation & Protect his Emotionless friend. Two Teens with Some Humanity left (Reeves & Ione Skye) decide to do Something about It.

Directed by Tim Hunter (The Saint of Fort Washington, Tex) made a Strong, Terrific Drama that was Based on a Real-Life 1980 Murder Case. Glover & Dennis Hopper as a Leftover Biker & Druggie are the Standouts in this film. Reeves is also Good, in One of the First`s Starring Roles. This is a Absorbing (not completely perfect) Study of Contemporary & Alienation on Society to the Lives of Teenagers by Bringing Responsibility... This is a Disturbing & Thought-Provoking. One of the Strongest Dramas of the 80`s. Written by Neal Jimenez (For the Boys, Hideaway, Sleep with Me). Grade:A.

4-0 out of 5 stars "It was right in front of me. I poked at it with a stick"
"River's Edge" revolves around the reactions (or lack of them) by high school students to the murder of a high school girl by her boyfriend. Nearly all the kids have a dysfunctional family or other disruptive situation that leaves them untrusting of adults. The death of their friend by another friend creates a tension among them as to whether they should turn him in.

The main group of kids is composed of Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye and Roxana Zal. Keanu lives with his little terrorist brother, Josh Miller, an even younger sister, his single mother and her do-nothing boyfriend. The other main character is "Feck" played by Dennis Hopper. He is a criminal in hiding, and is the main source for "Feck weed". Some of the acting is either nearly over the top (Glover) or questionable (Reeves), but Dennis Hopper is great as a rather strange character with a past and a large love doll, Ellie, as a friend. Josh Miller as the younger trouble-making brother is disturbing and excellent.

Although the movie is a drama and is rather unnerving, it has some unusual humor, most of it coming from Feck and the younger brother, who is about 10 or 11 years old. At one point the kid is mad and goes to see his friend at night and taps on his window - "Bring your numchuks. And get your dad's car. I know where I can get a gun".

The movie is heavy on smoking and drinking among teens and pre-teens, rampant swearing by teens and pre-teens, and teen sex. Oh yeah, a full frontal nude girl, though she's dead and turning a few colors. The DVD has the widescreen movie, chapter, subtitles (French/Spanish) and a trailer. I strongly recommend it for Dennis Hopper and Josh Miller if nothing else.

4-0 out of 5 stars two poorly acted roles - the rest sold the movie!
Although I found the acting of Crispin Glover (Layne) and Joshua Miller (Tim )to be too over-the-top to be 'real', the rest of the cast SOLD their roles and made this a surprisingly well-done flick. Disturbing....

3-0 out of 5 stars doesn't quite add-up, but still unforgettable
This was a great movie, but it's not quite the social indictment that it purports to be. Mostly it works on the power of its stars and some godawfully chilling mood music.

Samson (AKA "John") is a not-so-gentle giant of a teen who impulsively strangles his girlfriend. Though the murder and murderer are quickly common knowledge to local high-school denizens, nobody immediately runs to the police. This doesn't keep just about everybody her age from gawking at her now stripped corpse when it's found along the river's edge. Various reasons keep Samson's peers from even alerting the police to the body - mostly they have to do with loyalty. In a bizarre twist, their loyalty stems not from Samson, but from his friend Layne, a local Death-Metal kid who is determined not to "narc" out one of his own. While the rest remain silent, Layne makes Samson's safety and escape his personal crusade. Matt (Keanu Reeves) stirs from the pack, and calls the police. At first a suspect (he can't explain to the police the delay) Matt's released, whereupon he pretends to help Layne keep Samson safe. Most of the film is confined to the late hours of a single night, when our characters split up and tragically collide. When police flood the streets looking for Samson, it's clear that somebody "Narced". Though Layne never suspects Matt, Matt's younger brother immediately fixates on his elder sibling's betrayal, and plots revenge. At first, Layne stashes Samson with Feck (Dennis Hopper), an elder pot-head who's on the run for murder, but Samson is too impulsive to stay in one place for very long. When Feck runs out of beer, the pair leave the safety of Feck's house for beer, bullets and a trip back to the river's edge.

"River's Edge" is a stirring flick, but it's not quite the statement of society's collapse that it purports to be. (A nebbish, conservative student is put-down for just that sort of self-righteousness late in the story.) Just too much of the story doesn't add up. Matt's mom is simply weak - she's got a bossy live-in boyfriend, and looks to be have barely recovered from the sort of teenage existence now suffered by her kids. (instead of being emboldened, she's actually the weakest character in the flick - "I'm not your mother", she rants near the end "You're all mistakes!") Matt's brother plots revenge for Matt's treason - but he never connects with other characters in a way that suggests his loyalty. The other's are supposedly in sway to Layne, but Crispin Glover's mannerisms are less death-metal than post-modern mime (he simulcasts most of his lines with his hands) and he can barely hold himself together, let alone his peers. While separated from Layne, Matt uses his new-found inner strength to get closer to Clarissa (Ione Skye), but the story isn't sure which is really causing the other (maybe Clarissa is actually inspiring him to think past Layne). Especially weird is the way that while Layne searches for Samson, Matt runs into him at a liquor store after hours. There, using Feck's gun, and in front of Matt, Samson forces the storeowner to sell Matt beer. Matt never tells Layne of the meeting. The biggest hole is Feck. The flick tosses him and Samson together in a night that climaxes with something out of "Of Mice and Men" - but the script only partly succeeds in creating that intimacy between Feck and Samson. When Feck later says of Samson "he didn't love her", it's unclear whether he's referring to Samson's murdered girlfriend or to Elly, Feck's blow-up doll and captive passenger on that last night.

That said, this is still an incredible flick. Crispin Glover is still unforgettable as Layne (after watching enough of "Edge" you may find it hard not to talk like him). The plot, for its holes, stays focused on that one last night. If the ending is way-too-pat, it's probably because the flick's ambition is more than it can achieve. In any case, I sat down for this click and couldn't pull myself away. Supposedly based on a true story, "River's Edge" should be appreciated on its own, without us having to wonder where the true story became a way-out cautionary tale of impulsive murder and misplaced loyalty. ... If you like murder and dig beachwear, you'll love The In Crowd. Former obsessive Adrien is released from a mental institution (cue ominous music) and her nice psychiatrist finds her a summer job at a snooty country club, apparently reasoning that there's no better place to rebuild your self-esteem. Adrien quickly encounters the rich kids, who mostly run around being rich and beautiful. Rich queen Brittany decides to become Adrien's new best friend. Could it be for (oh, no!) the wrong reasons? Actually, her reasons turn out to be baffling, along with the rest of the poorly thought-out plot and thinly sketched characters. Director Mary Lambert makes a game attempt at building suspense with incredibly dark lighting and generic Spooky Music, but the script doesn't give her any help. The ending involves one of those elaborate, Scooby-Doo-ish plots that require knowing precisely how someone will react and exactly where she will go when she is very, very upset. Nonetheless, the movie presents lots of attractive young people in swimwear and provides an excellent opportunity to play the which-of-these-actors-will-still-have-a-career-next-year game. 3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyably teen movie
This complicated teen movie doesn't know whether it's trying to be a satire or a horror, so it plumps for somewhere in between. It starts with ex-mental patient Adrien getting a job at a trendy sports facility, catering for a load of rich snobs and drunken fools. At the head of this 'in crowd' is Brittany, a beautiful brunette with a dark past who rapidly accepts Adrien into their group. Before Adrien knows it she's in the midst of fancy parties wearing expensive dresses and is wanted by all the handsome boys.

The central idea of a group of people who struggle against each other in a seemingly endless search for power is intriguing but hardly new. Brittany rules her clique with an iron rod, using sex as a weapon to get what she wants. This blatant excuse to have excessive nudity is thankfully handled tongue-in-cheek, which is an altogether wiser approach given the movie's 'made for TV' look. By far the most promising idea is that social rejection is the worst punishment that could be doled out to these kids, with staring eyes and accusing faces represented as infinitely worse than being locked up in an insane asylum. Also it's nice to have a heroine that isn't exactly perfect herself. That said, 'Heathers' was a much wittier, funnier take on the social structure in a high school and is something that 'The In Crowd' just can't compete with. Yet this is moderately entertaining, with a storming finale that involves prom queens in exquisite dresses chasing each other in high heels, with one carrying a heavy spade over her shoulder. Oh, and you might recognise Tom as the guy that played Percy in 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not Great
I had wanted to see this movie ever since I saw the commericals for it on TV. Something has always fascinated me about beautiful popular people against the less beautfiful unpopular people. After I finally saw this movie last summer, I was a little disapointed. The movie was pretty good, Susan Ward's character Brittany was one of the best villians I have ever seen in a movie. But the rest of the cast really weren't all that great, all they were, were these beautiful people with not a whole lot of talent. The story line was pretty creative, it was about a girl named Adrien (Lori Heuring) who was just released from a mental hospital to work as a housekeeper at a country club/resort type place, where young, beautiful college kids lay around in the sun, play tennis, etc. She meets Brittany Hodges (Susan Ward), or actually more like saves her, when Brittany tries to fake like she drowned. So Adrien and Brittany become friends, and some strange things happen at the club. One of Brittany's so-called "friends" warns Adrien to go away, and to leave the huge mystery that happened a year ago alone, but Adrien knows something's up. Brittany's games are a little too much to handle sometimes. And after learning about Adrien's "history" she seduces Adrien's therapist while wearing Adrien's dress, then kills the therapist at a party later, and then Adrien goes to jail because they think she was the one who had sex with him, and killed him. The movie was kind of dull, with some boring twists here and there, some parts were suspenseful, all in all, it was pretty good, rent it for yourself sometime.

1-0 out of 5 stars what horrific garbage!
while i was watching this movie i thought to myself, "am i going to die? have i gone to horrible movie hell?" you see i was trapped in a theater. it's like being tortured by some horrible nightmare but you can't leave cause B actors are pretending they can act just because they're fat. the in crowd gives you that feeling like when it's grossly bright outside and it's a sunday afternoon and you're in a car and you've been sitting for 6 hours and you feel sweaty and there'a a football game playing on the am radio and you want to stop existing. in conclusion, this movie turns me into melting snow. i've written a few reviews here and there and no one seems to find them helpful. but i don't care! i'm not trying to be helpful. i'm just being odd.

2-0 out of 5 stars The In Crowd
To tell the absolute truth, I expected much more from this teen movie. I like those teen slasher movies like SCREAM and I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, but this one was too weird and bizarre for my tastes. It was very well photographed and sometimes well directed, but the script and actors are very lame and really don't deliver anything special.

It's the story of a former mental patient, Adrien, who is sent to work at a hip country club. She is soon involved in a wicked friendship with the sexy Brittany, who sees the image of someone else in Adrien, and therefore begins to act as her loyal companion. Through investigation and patience, Adrien finds that Brittany is nothing but an evil murderress.

Like I said, the weak script and lack of talent in the actors destroy this would-be-good thriller. It's often suspenseful and sometimes scary, but usually it's quite boring and overly sexual to boot.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yuck
I was home, bored, and had nothing to do one day so I clicked on the TV for background noise and this was on. Worst movie I have ever seen. Period. The story is totally implausible, there are many plot holes, the acting is poor. Last time I ever waste an hour on a teen movie. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Stranger in Paradise
Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer's "The Fluffer" is an earnest, honest and humane attempt at exposing the Gay Porno scene through the eyes of a young gay man Sean (Michael Cunio), new to Hollywood who falls in love with a gay porno star after he rents a movie he thinks is "Citizen Kane" that turns out to be a gay porno starring Johnny Rebel (Scott Gurney).
(When the obviously oblivious Sean brings what he thinks is CK to the check out counter, the clerk winks and says: "Doing the Classics tonight, huh?) Sean proceeds to apply and get a job at Janus Films, maker of all of Johnny Rebel's films,as a cameraman and thus sets the film and his infatuation in full motion.
Westmoreland/Glatzer have the sense to steal from some of the best movies: isn't Sean really a palliative for the Phillip Seymour Hoffman character in "Boogie Nights," who is as over-the-top and overwrought in love with Dirk Diggler as Sean is laid back and introspective about his feelings for Johnny Rebel? And it's much harder for Sean to stay cool about Johnny in that, not only is he a cameraman he's also Johnny's designated "Fluffer."
There are some heavy-handed, though earnest attempts to delve into the psyches of Sean as well as Johnny but most of this falls flat as it merely upsets the equilibrium of the film: is this a psychological study or a light comedy? It is possible to be both, but the transitions need to be handled with more aplomb than they are here to be be meaningful and effective.
The final scenes of the film are a hoot though, with blatant references to Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth" with Sean standing in for Paul Newman and Johnny for Geraldine Page as Sean consoles Johnny in a cheap motel in Mexico. That scene also cannily references Michelangelo's Pieta!
They probably bite off more than they can chew in "The Fluffer," but Westmoreland/Glacker show a real sense of style, grace and directorial know-how; especially difficult with the obvious constaints of a small budget. Look for these two to do great things in the future.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Oscar material, but more than just fluff
I made a point of NOT reading any reviews on Amazon or any print reviews .... I wanted to be able to form my own opinions of the film AFTER seeing it for myself. Having had some time to process and think about it, it was not a bad film.

The characters are quite believable and I felt sympathy for some of them but not for others, particularly for Johnny Rebel Porn Star, played by Scott Gurney. Gurney's performance is quite good. Nevertheless, it's very difficult to feel anything good for either his character or his actions in the story.

The Fluffer is a rather dark love story, but I enjoyed it for its honesty and reality. It's not romanticized in any way--quite refreshing for a gay film. It seems that many GLBT films struggle to make you like them but forcing emotions or plotlines. Not the case here.

For that reason I gave it 4 stars overall. The acting rates 4 stars easily. The screenwriting a 3 and the dialogue a 2. However, the film's unflinching look at life and consequences makes it a strong and thought-provoking look at the lives of some gay (and straight) people's lives.

Recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars *YAWN*
My reaction to this movie:

Oh! Hot guy on the cover! Whats this movie about? Hmmm. Interesting. Lets watch it. Okay. Interesting. Stalker-esque type guy trying to hook up with a "Straight" gay porn actor. Hmmm. Hot porn star guy has drug addiction... yada yada ya... nothing new. Okay... pick up pace. Mmmm hmmm... The porn industry is sordid... moving on... angry pregnant girlfriend... Mexico... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Seriously. This movie sucked and not in the good way. I know its not supposed to be porn but the story and actors were so boring they could have at least made it little more steamy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Two stars for the DVD cover.
If a film has enough heart, character development, and storyline, it can overcome whatever it may lack in production values, budget, and talent. This is not the case with "The Fluffer". This film has none of these. Here are a group of people Mother Theresa wouldn't care about on her best day. The story itself is nonexistant. Here it is.... everyone in the "adult" film industry is screwed up. The end! Roll credits! If Scott Gurney wasn't beautiful, and his face and torso was not on the DVD cover this bad film would go away and no one would even notice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Come on - this is just "Fluff"
The Fluffer is a film that is titillating in its title only. For those unfamiliar with what the term means - to put it politely, it is the name of a job in the adult film business. That person is responsible for helping the male actors (gay or straight) get it up and at 'em. Once the whole idea of the titillation is gone (about 10 minutes in), the movie is just sadly mundane.

If you want to watch it for hot guys, then okay, but admit that to yourself (frankly, I've seen better looking on most commercials and soap operas). The acting is very sub-par and the script is a long drawn out effort to stretch a thin storyline: this story could have been told in 15 or 20 minutes.

Basically, the plot is: Naive young Hollywood wanna be becomes a production assistant at a gay porn studio (can you see what's coming a mile away?). Eventually, he is asked to be the fluffer for the porn actor of his dreams (who just happens to be straight). One thing leads to another (you don't want me to give away what plot there is do you?) and we learn a little lesson about trust and naivity.

Jeez-a-loo - gay oriented films of the late 90's and early 00's have become what French films were to the 1970's. Everyone wants to seem to be really cutting edge, so they watch them and like them (even though they really know most of them are terrible). In reality, there are good gay films and there are bad ones, just as there were good French films and bad ones too.

This is a bad gay film. So scold it like your dog: "Bad gay film! Bad! ... Read more

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen expand their media empire with this compilation of episodes from their TV show, So Little Time. The impish twins play Riley and Chloe, teenage sisters; Riley is earnest and straight-laced, while Chloe is frivolous and yearns to be edgy. In a typical episode, the twins have each cheated on school projects (Riley on a sewing design, Chloe on a cooking assignment), but their efforts are found out and they have to apologize. However, this summary makes the show sound more moralistic than it comes across. It's actually not very didactic, and though the twins aren't great actresses, they have an undeniable charm. Also, for a show so clearly targeting a young demographic, much of the humor seems aimed at parents--one episode features a parody of the movie Glengarry Glen Ross, which I doubt many teens have seen. --Bret Fetzer ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It's not the episodes I have a problem with
The show is fun for any age, and it's great that they have several DVDs with the archived episodes. I have to say, though, that this DVD could have been so much more! First of all, the "photo album" that is included consists of what, about 5-10 screen caps from the included episodes? Would it have been too difficult to include more, better quality images from the show? Or some of the rest of the cast? It just seemed like a pointless addition to feign a DVD jam-packed with extras. The bloopers were fine enough, but then we get to the "interactive quiz" where you take the time to run through the questions but then receive no score! I felt like it was incomplete little exercise, even if you are told after each question whether you got it correct. I don't know. Anyway, I guess I just thought that it could have been a better DVD with a little more effort. Still, cute show, and I am an Olsen fan nevertheless.

5-0 out of 5 stars So lIttle time rocks!!!!!
I love so little time. It really reflects off of what a real teen is like. But I don't like the way they show off clothes. Allof their clothes look like they would be 1,000 dollars each outfit, and normal teens don't dress like that. I am also very mad that they are making a PG-13 movie even though I will see it. They are loved by children and some teens and i don't think they should stop having movies for kids yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best
my daughter loves so little time. she also loves MKAO (mary-kate and ashley olsen). she has other favorite stars. she is also very upset that they are making a PG-13 movie. Well she might be able to see it. she also wants to get the challenge because it is their last g/pg movie. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Quite disappointing
This movie was not as good as I'd hoped. But, coming from Mary-Kate & Ashley, you never know what to expect. Sometimes you'll get something great, but sometimes you'll get a complete bore. These movies were funny in places, but just not the kind of thing that i would watch regularly. I am glad that I rented it from a library, not bought it. I do not care to see it again. And, actually, I am a little over the Olsen twins. You see them right and left. Cosmetics, clothes, books, movies, dolls, fragrances...even rugs! On and on the list goes. They are just everywhere! If you like everything that the Olsens make, then it's a good bet that you'll like this movie. However, I only like some of the things that the Olsens make. This movie really isn't worth your time! If you want to see a great movie that the Olsens made, watch either Our Lips are Sealed, It Takes Two, or To Grandmother's House We Go. (Their movies were actually more funny when they were younger. Now they can kind of drag on, like The Challenge.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Olsen Twins Rock!
This volume of So Little Time episodes is by far the best. It features my top favorite episodes and the bloopers are great! I've never seen bloopers for this show, so if you like bloopers then you'll love how there is bloopers in this DVD. It sure is great to have all those extras in the DVD. If you are a fan of the Olsen Twins then this is a definite must have! :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow they've actually remastered this one!
The picture quality on the previous two DVD releases left a lot to be desired. Happily on this one this has been rectified. If you like the Olsens you know what you're in for when you buy this DVD so there is little point me going into too much detail. For all you guys out there this has the episode where they dance in the tight tops and cover themselves in food; a bit like a mud fight! Enjoy! Loses a star because you can get more episodes on one DVD!! ... Read more
