3-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun
Although there are blatant references to "Lolita" (dig Alicia Silverstone in her huge sunglasses and swimsuit gazing up at Cary Elwes), "The Crush" is a suitable thriller despite being very predictable.

The premise is simple: Silverstone plays a fourteen year old who develops a crush on Elwes, who is a 28 year old newspaper reporter and has just moved into an apartment on the grounds of her family home. Elwes is dating Jennifer Rubin, and she's aware of the vibes being sent by Silverstone. But Elwes is either naive or enjoys the attention (you decide!!!) and puts himself into several compromising situations with Silverstone. Silverstone, who's clearly unstable, tightens the noose from then on, and eventually attempts to kill Elwes. The ending, also predictable, is appropriate.

This certainly isn't going to be on anyone's list of all-time best films, but it's worth owning on DVD (despite the fact that there's little that separates the VHS from the DVD). You'll enjoy popping it in every once in a while for a good scare. If nothing else, guys, you'll be very careful who you flirt with after watching this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Scream Queen Of The 90's!
Similar to the role Glenn Close played in "Fatal Attraction", Alicia Silverstone is terrifying as an obsessive teen who is "crazy" about the 28 year old living in her parent's guest house. After being told several times that she's too young for him, and finding out that he already has a girlfriend, she goes on a methodical rampage against the two. Tearing both of their lives apart. Tension builds throughout the film with various scary parts and an exciting, violent ending. Way better than "Swimfan".

4-0 out of 5 stars The Crush... True story
The movie is not only fun but a must see.. and the movie is now in my all time collection! well, I watched the movie years back but I had to recall the story of the movie and watch it again and again, as I am facing almost the same situation.. well I'm 25 and she is 15 and she has a crush on me 'no fun, trust me' and her mother (not father, like in the movie) is almost as same as Darian's father.. I've watched the movie thrice in last two days to understand few things about her moves.. I think you'd enjoy to understand the movie like i do (now) :)its fun and entertainment.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Crush
Great Fun! If I hadn't seen it on t.v., I never would have seen it anywhere else. I saw it while flipping through channels and was late to a meeting because I couldn't stop watching it, I had to see what was going to happen in the end.

3-0 out of 5 stars Watch Out!
Darian Forrester (Silverstone) is a 14 year-old Girl rapidly blossoming into a woman at a immense rate. Her IQ is above average and her eye for detail flawless. After earning himself a job working for a decidedly well thought-of magazine, Journalist Nick Eliot (Elwes) scans the neighbouring houses with a room to let. Shaken-up after practically knocking down Darian after she skated into the wheels of his arriving car, he notices that her residence has a guest house to let and after viewing the named house, snaps it up with no more then a few Ums and Errs. After a few days, Darian is smitten with the new lodger and things begin to lead themselves down the wrong path. After a kiss initiated by Darian, Nick backs off, and dismayed by his actions, warns off Darian. Skimpily clad in diminutive bikini's, provocative clothing and breath-taking body language, Darian refuses to take no for an answer and subsequent to attacking his lover, persists to abuse her welcome, with the police having to stand in within the concluding half hour.

Suffocating and thought-provoking, this a tall-tale that mirrors many a headline currently splashed on newspapers worldwide. Shapiro's direction is at times warped and the pacing does have its flaws, but yet it seems to work out and leaves you fulfilled with the end product. By far Silverstone's Best role yet, with only 'Clueless' to contend with, while Elwes's appeal is strong, and sporadically exasperating, is every now and then overruled by his 14 year-old counterpart.

A great movie with bright sets and a proficient script, this is in no way Cinema at its best, but yet a worthy edition to your home library. ... Read more

An unlikely friendship is forged when an overachieving chimpanzee meets a lonely boy with a love for snowboarding in MXP: Most Extreme Primate. Jack the chimpanzee (MVP and MVP II) has given up hockey and skateboarding in favor of life with his family at the El Simian Nature Reserve, but a Mexican vacation gone awry lands Jack in Blackbrush, Colorado--right in the path of a lonely boy named Pete who's just moved into town. The two quickly become close friends, and eventually Pete teaches Jack to snowboard and they become partners in a snowboarding race.Factor in two greedy men looking to make their fortunes by kidnapping Jack and Jack's worried (human) "Mom" trying to track down Jack from Mexico in spite of a fierce hurricane, and a very familiar plot runs its predictable course.Unlike the previous MVP movies, this third production lacks intensity and suspense and ultimately leaves the viewer feeling uninvolved and uninterested.A brief demonstration by snowboarder Bjorn Leines serves as a high point for snowboarding fans. 2-0 out of 5 stars give me a break
everyone thinks snowboarding is sooooooo easy - "wow hey look a chimp can do it!". yah a kid watching this movie will probably break his neck trying to do the tricks this chimp does. i would reccommend a more basic video like MVP first.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Movie Ever Made!
This movie was hilarious. It is definitely a movie for teens. I am not joking when I say that this monkey walks, talks, and acts like a human. Plus he throws his balls at unsuspecting victims. You will fall over laughing, especially if you are under the influence. The jokes in this movie are not funny at all, but this monkey acts like he is constantly on crack, and he always jitters and shakes. Plus you can tell that everytime he is snowboarding that someone pushed him down the mountain and he is trying to stop, but he can't. In one scene you can see the guys hand pushing him off of a jump. It was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen. Go see this movie... no, wait, go buy this movie! It will be worth it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
Of the 3 films in the MVP trilogy, I think MXP might be the best. I watched this one with a few friends before going out on a Saturday night. The comic hijinks of Jack and the other monkeys, as wells as the complete aloofness of every adult in the movie who fails to see Jack climbing trees, eating food, and sneaking onto airplanes dressed in a sombrero and pancho is incredible. This film sells itself. 1 monkey + 1 snowboard = awesome. Is MXS (Most Extreme Surfer) next? I hope so.

5-0 out of 5 stars MXP Rocks
My kids love the whole MVP series, and this one is just as enjoyable as the others! Highly reccomended!!!! By the way, the music from the Jay's band in the movie is great - and I found that the songs are from a real band whose cd you can buy here on Amazon. They are called the dynamite boy and all the songs from the movie are on their Somewhere in America CD too.

Jack is cool in this movie with his snow boarding and I think you will enjoy the movie, so GO FOR IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best movie ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really love this movie. Jack the chimp is so cute and a really good snowboarder he rocks. Jay the big brother is the cuttest guy i have ever seen and his band Rocks. Jay seems like the best big brother i wish my brother was like him. Pete is the best snowboarder i wish i could go snowboarding with him he is so cute too. I wish Jay's band had a c.d.. Oh and i really love the outtakes and the music video. And the brain freeze scene is so funny. I really love this movie it makes me want to snowboard and start a band. This movie rocks rocks rocks. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Christmas Wife
The Christmas Wife has been one of my all time favorite movies for over 10 years now and I never get tired of watching it.
As a matter of fact I watch it at least 3 times every Christmas season and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes good sentimental movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Understanding loss
This short drama was satisfying to watch even though there wasn't much action. It was almost like a two-person play. It tells how an apparently strong person copes with the dramatic change in his life caused by the death of his dear spouse. Christmas traditions are not the same, so the widower adapts by renting a companion. Jason Robards and Julie Harris are delightful to watch, so professional.

3-0 out of 5 stars sweet
The acting is good, however it does leave one guessing.

The actors are a delight and they do maintain the viewers interest. HOWEVER; The ending of this picture leaves one suspended above the play.
To me, this film is a fill in the blanks movie that leaves the viewer wondering if this is all there is. Still I found it a delight to watch and a very wholesome picture.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fix some hot chocolate and start a fire in the fireplace...
This is a surprisingly good drama for a lazy, frosty, Christmas-season evening. It's well-acted, well-written, and well-crafted -- definitely sentimental, but without being fluffy or soppy. The cast is led by veteran acting greats Jason Robards and Julie Harris, which in itself should make the movie worth a consideration.

Robards portrays John Tanner, a recent widower who doesn't quite know what to do with the changes imposed upon his life. When the annual family trip to the cabin for Christmas is jeopardized, he attempts to rescue his traditions in a radical way: he finds a dating service and "hires" a woman to be his family and spend the Christmas weekend with him. Julie Harris is the sad, perceptive, and mysterious woman, Iris, who agrees to be his "Christmas wife" - but only if he will ask her no questions about herself.

This is a quality "G" movie (at least, the version shown on television). At the risk of sounding sexist, I would say this is a woman's movie, but some men may find it not objectionable. Children may not be interested in a character (as opposed to action) movie about middle-aged people, but if they are, their parents won't have to worry about what they're watching. Adults who have some experience with age or loneliness may discover a tale striking quite a responsive chord.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Over 50", Life 101
If you're over 50 this movie will be a great rainy afternoon delight. It is NOT a comedy! It is a hard look at life and what it brings. Jason Robards and Julie Harris are two of the classic actors of the last century. Just to see them act together is enough, but the sweet story of how life throws rocks in our path and the way we remove them is great! Treat yourself to perfection! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A well-acted adaption of a true story
Based on a true story, "Gift of Love" tells the story of a high school student, Daniel Huffman (played by Elden Henson), who looks to have a promising future in football. He is very close to his grandmother, Shirlee Allison (Debbie Reynolds), who helped to raise him.

Shirlee becomes quite ill, and is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Daniel selflessly gives her one of his, a choice that results in him never being able to play football again.

The movie was obviously made to "tug at the heart strings"; it's packed with saccharine, if you catch my drift. The acting, however, is top notch - with fantastic performances from Henson and Reynolds, especially. Ed Marinaro also stars as Daniel's coach. ... Read more
