5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Action Thrillers Of All Time
Before "Speed", before "The Matrix" or any of a half dozen other memorable films that Keanu Reeves has been in, there was "Point Break". For sheer action, adrenaline, and quick thrills, nothing compares to this cops and robber movie set in the surfer sub culture of southern California. Keanu Reeves plays a young FBI recruit (Johnny Utah) on his first assignment, and lands in the middle of a bank robbery mystery that has been unraveling for several years. A group calling themselves the Ex-Presidents, and wearing outlanding disguises as Ron Reagan, Dick Nixon, Jimmy Carter and Lyndon Johnson, have successfully been looting area banks, so far without shooting or killing anyone. Reeves' older partner, played masterfully here by Gary Busey, confides to Keanu that he believes the bank robbers are surfers, who hit banks to support their wandering lifestyles, following the waves.

Suddenly the stage is set for a masterful cat and mouse game between Busey and Reeves on the one hand, and a group of surfers led by Patrick Swayze, on the other. The movie has everything, from gloriously photographed scenes of surfing to outrageous action sequences which are choreographed so memorably that they become the coda for the movie. There are several exceptional chase scenes, including one that is run by foot through yards, houses, and streets. In the end, it is a powerful allegory regarding the meaning of contemporary life and the rules we all try to live by, but in the meantime it is also a hell of an entertaining ride on the rollercoaster that Reeves and Busey have to ride in pursuit of the Ex-Presidents! "Surfers rule, I swear to God". Hahaha. Inside joke that you'll understand after viewing the film. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exhilirating, Artistic, Great Entertainment
"Point Break" is Bigelow at her best. It has wonderful artistic moments ,with the waves used by the villainous surfers, as well as a group parachuting scene with the hero and villains all holding hands in a circle in the air. The actors are well paired with both Keanu Reeve as the hero FBI agent who learns how to surf to catch the ex-Presidents bank robbers. Patrick Swayze, in his best role, plays a guru philosopher surfer who heads up the bank robbers, wearing a Ronald Reagan mask during the armed robberies. The bank robberies by the 4 surfers in their ex-presidents' masks verge on the hilarious. The final surfing footage with Swayze and Reeve in Australia is breathtaking. "Point Break" is well worth owning. Writer-director Kathryn Bigelow was a very talented painter before she went to film school to become a movie director. It shows in her work which is very artistic for someone primarily known to the action-adventure genre of filmmaking. She is a breath of fresh air in this genre, investing it with literate scripts and haunting imagery. Her most frequent producer is James Cameron (the action wonder king, "Titanic," "Terminator"), who is also her ex-husband. You can see his influence on her work as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Get Me Two!
This awesome action movie is the original 'Fast and the Furious' where surfers with souls are used instead of expensive cars and special effects. Keanu Reeves is perfect for the role as Johnny Utah, the cocky "quarterback punk" fbi agent who has to infiltrate the deep roots of a clan of surfers who rob banks. Garey Busey is a gem as the Utah's crazy partner, Angelo, and Patrick Swayze makes a perfect anti-villain, Bodi.

The action is never-ending, the surfing scenes are amazing (even if Keanu learns how to surf a bit too quickly) and then there's that great chemistry between Swayze and Reeves..two action junkies from completely different backgrounds but that same carnal desire for madness! This film is must for anyone who thinks Vin Diesel is a good anarchist with a spiritual side.. wait 'til you meet Bodi!

1-0 out of 5 stars if only i could give it zero stars...
This movie is so freakin' lame! Keanu continues his streak of forgettable and unbelievable roles as FBI agent Johnny Utah. Besides the stupidity of that name, his acting is so reminiscient of his role in "Bill and Ted's" that I actually watch it when it's on TV just to laugh at the plot lines and dialogue. Are we really supposed to believe that he ended his career as the Ohio St. QB, went to law school and finished at Quantico within the time frame they purport in the movie? Uh, no. When they're surfing at night after that really great football game on the beach (...yeah, it really looks like he was a college QB in those scenes!) there are at least two sequences where you can see the sun on the horizon, yet this was supposed to be at night? Poor. Oh, and he followed Swayze all over Mexico, Sumatra and Fiji, but still found time to surf "every day?" Come on! "Vaya con Dios," Keanu. Your acting stinks and so does this movie! Good thing the movie also had Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Pepper fame, too. He did a good job of making faces like he was either constipated or stupid.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most enjoyable movies of the last 15 years
C'mon! Some of you dudes are, like, taking this flick waaaay to seriously, man. This is a great movie to put in if your bored or high and nothing's on tv or if your with some friends and you don't feel like going out. Instead you get a six pack, a pizza, turn the lights off and pop this movie in. The absolute most enjoyable thing about this movie is its complete indefensibility. How can anyone possibly defend a movie in which no five straight minutes are the slightest bit believable. But that's the genius of it. At every even slightly crucial point in the movie, the plot demands that FBI Special Agent Johnny Utah (Reeves) make the stupidest decisions, the most incompetent blunders and display the most irresponsible and morally wrong behavior humanly possible in a member of law enforcement. If he wises up at all, he figures out who the robbers are and sends about two dozen black and whites over to their home and the movie's over in about a half hour. Pretty anticlimatic end, huh? Rather, its about three quarters the way through the movie that the obvious occurs to him. Second in his class at Quantico...riiiight. Instead, we get two hours of surfing, skydiving, bank robbing, stunts, fistfights, gunfights, hot babes, one-liners and chases. Personally, I prefer all the running around to the realistic ending. Don't you? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Winning Sequel!
it doesn't happen often, but occasionally a sequel far excedes the original. this is one of those times. guttenberg, sellick & danson are hilarious as the would-be batchelors turned babysitters, but now they have a much older mary to deal with. during the opening credits, you get to watch mary grow in a sequence of silent out-takes. nancy travis returns as actress/mother who is now successful. all live under one roof, but dealing w/ a 5 year old proves to be much more trying than dealing w/ a baby. this movie takes you thru twists & turns of each character's lives, all very funny. i only give it 4 due to a bit of a "serious" slowdown in the middle. this is a must see for any warm-hearted comedy fan or a fan of any of the fine actors who give excellant preformances. look for fiona shaw, who shows up about half way thru, adding even more humor as a stodgy(maybe not?) private school headmistress. enough laughs & silly humor in this one to keep all viewers amused. it's even tame enough for the kids, with no serious language & very few adult situations. i'll not ruin any of the surprises for you by going into any details, but i'm sure all will enjoy this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars The continuing story of Three Men and a Baby
In November 1987,Tom Selleck,Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson began to delight audiences with their #1 blockbuster "Three Men And A Baby". Three years later, the sequel "Three Men And A Little Lady" was released. It didn't score as high as the first film at the box office. Robin Weisman is the 5-year-old little lady Mary in this film. The six-month-old baby in the first film was played by twins Lisa and Michelle Blair. The three men of course, are Peter Mitchell(Selleck),Michael Kellam(Guttenberg) and Jack Holden(Danson). Peter,Michael,Jack,Mary and Mary's mother Sylvia(Nancy Travis) are all living together now. Peter,Michael and Sylvia in one scene are at a meeting with the principal of an elementary school that Mary has been enrolled in. Jack,an actor dressed as Count Dracula, shows up at the meeting late(he was filming a TV commercial). Mary in another scene is taught by Peter the definition of the word "penis". Peter and Sylvia are both shocked. Michael was quite amused. There's also Edward, who's an Englishman like Sylvia. Edward directed Sylvia, who's also an actress,in a broadway play. Edward and Sylvia, romantically involved, plan to marry in their native England, taking Mary with them. Edward deceptively schemes to enroll Mary at the Pileforth Academy,a boarding school there. In another scene,Sylvia is extremely angry at Peter because of some comments he made when Edward visited. She slapped him hard in the face. So Sylvia,Mary and Edward head for England. So Peter,Michael and Jack throw a party just like they did in one scene from the first film. Mary was sad to leave her father Jack and his two roommates. So Peter and Michael surprisingly travel to England to visit Sylvia,Mary and Edward. Jack was filming a movie so he couldn't join his roommates. Jack, dressed as the late Hollywood great Carmen Miranda, phones Michael in England. Jack said he wouldn't be able to attend Edward's and Sylvia's wedding. But,Jack,as himself, later arrives in England in time for the wedding, which never happens. As the bogus wedding begins,Peter,Michael and Elsabeth,Pileforth's principal, crash the ceremony with the enrollment list for the next term on which Mary appears. Sylvia had not known about it until this point and she become furious at Edward. I said "bogus" because the unofficial ceremony was performed by Jack, made up as an elderly priest. Sylvia decided she's going to continue living in New York and tells Peter,"You can see Mary as much as you like." Peter told Sylvia that he loved her. So a real certified priest enters the chapel, marrying Peter and Sylvia. Jack catches the bridal bouquet thrown by Sylvia after the ceremony. WAITING FOR A STAR TO FALL,performed by Boy Meets Girl,on hit parade in the fall of 1988,is played during the end credits. By the way,Sylvia's mother,of course, attended her daughter's wedding. She also visited in New York where Sylvia,Mary,Peter,Michael and Jack live.

2-0 out of 5 stars It Was Okay but Not Great!
I liked Three Men and a Baby so I watch Three Men and a Little Lady and sorry but I just thought it was a decent sequel but nothing special or amazing and I was disappointed, it just didn't make me laugh and smile as much as Three Men and a Baby did and wasn't as enjoyable and is a 2 1/2 star movie at best!

It just doesn't even compare to the first movie!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a great but a still strong Horror Flick to the Original.
Five years later, when a sentitive teenager named Jesse (Mark Patton) is now living in the House-where Nancy Thompson used to live (From the original movie) living with his Parents (Clu Gulager & Hope Lange) and his sister (Christie Clark). When his new friend (Kim Myers) finds a diary of Nancy's hidden in his Room, where Nancy used to be in. Finding out horrible, terrible secrets from her Past and Murderer, who used to kill kids in the neighborhood and thier dreams! Now-Jesse is now dreaming about a man named Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), who does always tries to contact him and make him things, that he wouldn't do. Since Freddy wants to use his Body to Control him and Being in the outside world, where he could kill again.

Directed by Jack Sholder (Alone in the Dark, The Hidden, Wishmaster 2) made a worthy follow up to the Original. But the film betrays between the World of Reality and Dreams, which doesn't really put it off and almost losing imaginative premise of the first film. Still, it's still scary and Englund as the film's villian is meancing and frightening. This was also a bigger Box Office Hit than the Original. This Sequel is quite Ambitious, since this film has some Gay Overtones in the Plot. DVD's has anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer (also in Pan & Scan) and with an strong Digitally Remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Some might call this Worst of the Elm Street films but It's not (depending on some, who seen it). Grade:B+.

4-0 out of 5 stars decent 4 freddy
little bit scary, little bit funny just like a good freddy movie should be but it was good all together. a decent freddy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ooh, scary... NOT!!!
After taking a look at the second entry in the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' canon, I can't say I found it all that scary. Sure there were a few moderately gruesome scenes, but overall I wasn't exactly shocked or all that nauseated by what played out on the screen. 'Course, after enduring many a moment of genuinely hideous over-the-top gore from films like 'Predator', 'Total Recall', and 'Starship Troopers', I guess it was a given I'd be somewhat disappointed by the not-as-meaty stuff shown here.

Adding to this flick's hokiness factor was a subpar makeup job on Robert "Freddy" Englund; the guy's "burn" didn't look nearly as realistic here as it did the first go-'round. It looks like they just threw some semi-jelled rubber cement compound on him, then tried to get around how silly it looked by filming him primarily in shadows or from behind. And don't get me started on those brownish-red contact lenses that try to make him look menacing for the close-up shots of his eyes...

Bottom line: unless you're a 'Nightmare' completist, or you like to laugh at the slasher-horror genre's sillier attempts to scare ya-- which is something I like to do-- 'Nightmare 2' is a skipper.

Sweet dreams...

'Late
