Mike Nichols directed the 1965 stage production of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, but while Nichols went on to become a vitally intelligent director of contemporary comedy, Simon's career thrived in the 1970s and '80s before dwindling towards sentimental fluff like this amusing but mildly disappointing sequel. Closer to Grumpy Old Men than the wry wit of Simon's original play and 1968 screen adaptation, the movie finds former roommates Oscar (Walter Matthau) and Felix (Jack Lemmon) reluctantly reuniting for the wedding of Oscar's son to Felix's daughter. When they get sidetracked in California, the road-movie formula unleashes the comedic chemistry of Lemmon and Matthau (which alone makes the movie worthwhile), but it's too casual to match the original's depth or dramatic foundation. Simon and Grumpy director Howard Deutch could have deepened the Oscar-Felix relationship to make it funnier and more emotionally involving, but instead they've played it safe with some good laughs in the kind of sketch comedy that Nichols would avoid. Simon's capable of much better than this, but Lemmon-Matthau fans will have a good time anyway. --Jeff Shannon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oscar and Felix are Back
Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, two comedy greats, pair up again in this hilarious film. In The Odd Couple II, it has been 17 years since Oscar and Felix last saw each other. They are reunited to go to their children's wedding. Along the way they get arrested three times, encounter two lovely ladies Thelma and Holly, and get on each other's nerves no end. After making such a hit as Odd Couple, making a sequel was risky business, but Walter and Jack pulled it off! Sadly it would be their last film together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau have done it again!
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau team up again in this teriffic comedy as the infamous Odd Couple. After being away from each other for seventeen years, Oscar Madison (Matthau) and Felix Unger (Lemmon)meet again, this time to travel to the wedding of Oscar's son and Felix's daughter. On the way they encounter tons of crazy characters and situations, after losing Felix's expensive suitcase-along with their map-and forgetting the name of the town they are driving to! This hilarious road trip is a great display of the famous team of Lemmon and Matthau

5-0 out of 5 stars absolutely hilarious
this is much better than the first one. i literally almost peed my pants laughing. i especially like how Felix is still super perfect and all. if you need a funny movie to check out, get this.

4-0 out of 5 stars At Odds And A Little Uneven...
Following the success of the Grumpy Old Men films, original Odd Couple writer Neil Simon, decided to bring together Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau yet again. Putting them in the roles that made them one of the greatest on screen duos of all time in the first place.

As The Odd Couple II begins, many years have passed since uncompromising slob Oscar Madison (Matthau) and fuss budget and neatnick Felix Unger (Lemmon) shared, not only an apartment, but their many trials as two divorced men. After years of going their separate ways, the two are suddenly thrown together again, en route to the wedding of Oscar's son Bruce (Jonathan Silverman) to Felix's daughter Hannah (Lisa Waltz). Getting to the wedding ceremony, proves difficult for the perspective in laws, when they are forced to take a cross country trip together.

Written once again by Simon, the script has its fair share of cliches`, to be sure but the film is saved by Lemmon and Matthau. The chemistry between these two legendary comic masters is undeniable. Due to the passage of time though, Simon's follow up isn't as bitting as the original, that said, The Odd Couple II is still worth a look for those that enjoy the work of the duo. Director Howard Deutch, having worked with this team before, knows them pretty well. The original film, based on a play, never felt that way...This time out, the sequel, at times feels like an extended episode of the television incartnation.

The only bonus material on the DVD is the film's theatrical trailer. Both of these great actors are sadly no longer with us, but thankfully their work will live on, in the films they left behind. Not as good as the original film--the follow up is, nonetheless recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Matthau-Lemmon is always a winner, but...
I have to agree with others that this was a bit disappointing. I wasn't expecting something as good as the first "Odd Couple" (really, how could ANYTHING top that?) but I think it could have been better.

Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon are both top-notch actors just on their own, and together they are an unstoppable duo. However, in the sunset years of their lives, they made four movies that I remember: "Grumpy Old Men", "Grumpier Old Men", "Grumpiest (just kidding)", "Out To Sea", and "The Odd Couple II". All funny movies, all excellently played by our guys, but all basically the same movie with slightly different situations. I blame the writers, though, not Walter and Jack.

If you're a fan of Matthau-Lemmon movies, then you'll enjoy this one. Just don't expect anything new. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but not as good as the original.
Pet Sematary Two is totally different from the original movie. It takes place in the same town, but with a different cast. The movie is about a 13 year old boy named Jeff Matthews, played by Edward Furlong (T2 Judgement Day, American History X) visiting his actress mother on set, while filming a low budget horror movie. While she was filming a scene, she gets electricuted and dies. Jeff and his father Chase Matthews played by Anthony Edwards (Revenge of the Nerds, TVs ER) move to Ludlow from Los Angeles to start a new life. His father was a vetinarian. Jeff goes to his first day of school and brings his kitten with him. After school, a punk named Clyde Parker takes his kitten and runs off with his friends. Jeff goes after him in his bicycle and they get to the path that leads to the Pet Sematary. Clyde and his friends tell Jeff about the rumors of the Burial Ground. Clyde offends Jeff by telling him to bury his mom in the burial ground and pray for her to come back. Jeff throws a punch at him, and Clyde goes off and kicks his ass. Jeff goes into the Pet Sematary to get his kitten out of the cage and becomes friends with Drew. An overweight kid with a mean, strict stepfather named Gus, played by Clancy Brown,(The Shawkshank Redemption)who is the town sheriff. Gus shoots and kills Drew's dog Zowie and buries him at the Indian Burial Ground with Jeff, wondering if it will work. Zowie comes back deadly and angrier. Gus gets upset and grounded Drew for lying to him saying he buried his dog. On Halloween, Jeff and Drew meet Clyde and his gang at the Pet Sematary where he told everybody about what happened to the Creed family. Gus, later finds out where Drew was at and starts to beat him. Zowie comes to the rescue and kills Gus. Drew and Jeff bury him at the Micmac Burial Ground and he comes back alive. He kills Clyde with a motorcycle, kills Drew and his mother in a head on collision with a potato truck, buries Clyde at the burial ground, digs up Renee and gets Jeff to bury her at the burial ground. She comes back killing Jeff's housekeeper, Clyde comes back trying to kill Jeff. Jeff and his dad put up a fight and kill all the dead ones and move out of the town. This movie is worth renting and watching. The first one is worth buying, but only rent this movie. It's an entertaining movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars PET SEMATARY 2
PET SEMATARY 2 is the sequel to Stephen King's original PET SEMATARY. Jeff Matthews moves to the town of Ludlow with his father after his Hollywood star mother is accidentally killed while making a horror movie. Jeff makes friends with a local boy named Drew who has a dog named Zowie and a mean stepfather named Gus, who also happens to be the sheriff in Ludlow. When Gus shoots Drew's dog, Drew takes Jeff with him to bury the dog in the Indian burial ground that's next to the local Pet Sematary. When the dog comes back from the dead, Jeff begins to wonder if he should bury his mother in the burial ground. This is a decent, well-acted sequel.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ick.
This sequel is a disgusting splatterfest with the bare bones of a story wrapped around it. Anthony Edwards (who should have known better) and Edward Furlong (who shouldn't have, probably) star as a father and son who move to the town which the Creed family from the first movie didn't have so much luck in. Mayhem ensues. A zombified sheriff oozing face goo onto his cute little screaming wife as he sexually assaults her... A box full of chewed-up kittens... A young boy getting his neck snapped in a scene which winds up being played for laughs... These scenes are not just disgusting, they are in bad taste.
The first movie was not "Silence of the Lambs"-caliber cinema either, but at least it was scary and a decent "popcorn" movie. It was gross too, but it was practically "Annie" compared to this sequel's pointless, offensive gore-a-thon. Apparently the filmmaker's goal was to make as many audience members as possible flee the theater retching. Mission accomplished. Shame on you, Dr. Greene!

3-0 out of 5 stars PEOPLE NEVER LEARN
Why is it that even though every one knows the story of THE MONKEY'S PAW, people tend to want to bring the dead back, when they know it's not gonna be pretty. Mary Lambert's PET SEMATARY TWO is a disturbing, dark, brooding movie, where children and pets are wasted very casually. Especially brutal is the fate of Andrew (Jason McGuire). But here's my overall take:
THE SCRIPT: Stephen King wasn't happy, but he still let it come out, huh? Actually, the script's not that bad, it's just so dark and foreboding. SCORE: 3
THE CAST: I've never been a fan of Edward Furlong, but this is the first time he didn't tick me off through the whole movie; he obviously enjoys playing the cynical, dark, deep kid; Anthony Edwards is ineffectual, too zombielike; Clancy Brown is marvelous as Gus, especially when he returns from the dead; Jared Rushton (Big) is good, too, as the psychotic to be Clyde; and Darlanne Flugel is richly exotic as Furlong's dead mother.
SCORE; 4
TECHNICALLY: Up and down; the effects of the dog are sometimes good, and other times, very noticeably inept; the score does nothing to enhance the film, but when you're marketing for teenagers, it's inevitable; direction is a little slow at times. SCORE: 3

4-0 out of 5 stars Very worthy sequel
Most people prefer PET SEMATARY II over the original because it's more fun and not nearly as disturbing. The original has images that stay with you for weeks, whereas the sequel is basically just a huge, fun gorefest. It still is very spooky and quite good, even though Stephen King put up a huge fight for it not to go to theaters and wanted all the video and DVD copies in the world destroyed. I think it's a very well-done sequel and you'll like it if you liked the original. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Imaginative
This was a wonderfully imaginative movie. What an idea, if one of the greatest artists in history came back in modern times. An artist that was shunned and reaped no rewards for his life's works returns to find that his paintings are now worth 10's of millions of dollars (or 100's of millions). If you have the ability to enter into the third party of film; to believe the unbelievable, you'll like this movie. It's not a "solid" movie. Some of the acting leaves want for more, as does the cinematography. However, it was thoroughly enjoyable. All round, I liked it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Torn between one star and five...
Dear Reader,
Was this the worst movie I've ever seen? Yes! Do I highly reccomend seeing it? Yes! The movie was so bad it made me laugh. I especially loved how all the backgrounds were actually pictures of cafes with heads in front of them. I didn't appreciate at all. I mean, I don't even think if it had been produced by and insanely rich person and given a huge budget it would have survived, but its poor quality makes it quite amusing. So go ahead and see it, but I see no reason why you should buy it.

Sincerely,
Me, tears of disgust and joy

5-0 out of 5 stars STARRY NIGHT
STARRY NIGHT is amazingly magical. It resonated to the artist in all of us who have struggled with art all of our lives and have not been recognized in our lifetimes. It gives hope. Abbott Alexander's fanciful portrayal of Vincent is wonderful -- you can't keep your eyes off of him. He is intensely charismatic. I bought many copies to send to family back home -- as this is a must see for all families to watch together -- and there are not many films out there like that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Light and fun. Gives a bit of sunshine to the way people....
Light and fun. Gives a bit of sunshine to the way people invision Vincent van Gogh. I think that if you see this movie with knowing that is fantasy and a kind of what if story line...
Then en you will smile and feel got at the end.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Light Movie/VVG Returns...to LA!
I've seen all the "serious" Van Gogh movies extant as he is one of my very favorite painters. It would be silly to try and compare this movie to any of them as it has a very different aim. This is a very whimsical fairy tale based on the idea of what would happen if Vincent came back. What would he think of the prices that his art now goes for? What would he think of the buyers of his work? Would he ally himself with starving artists needing the help he needed in his own lifetime? I found these very provocative questions and the movie examines how Vincent would answer those questions if he had 100 days to live again in modern day LA. Don McLean sings his ode to Vincent over the credits and that is very nice too. I'm sure this was shot on a shoestring budget but that adds to its rather offbeat charm. I'm an artist and that may have influenced my liking of this film. An art collector might not like this film much though as Vincent does not think much of them (which is fairly consistent with his view in his own time). If you have Van Gogh high up on a pedestal, I would advise you to skip this movie. There is nothing exalted about this movie at all and that's why I liked it. ... Read more
