5-0 out of 5 stars Attention monster movie lovers:
TREMORS is nothing more then pure fun. The story takes place in a very small Western town that is besieged by four giant sluglike monsters. These slugs attack anything that causes a seismic vibration on the ground much like a piranha attacks anything that leaks blood. But these slugs chase after a would-be victim with the speed of a runaway train. And add to that, the surviving slugs seem to get smarter when one of their own is killed.

This is one film where the producers could have just put in a bunch of teenagers that only serve the purposes of taking their clothes off and being victims. But instead, we get a several enjoyable characters that we can actually care about. Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon are priceless as two laborers looking for work only to find - How do I put it? - man-eating slugs. Michael Gross, who plays an NRA poster boy, is far removed from his role as an ex-hippie on FAMILY TIES. His equally gun-toting wife is played by country singer Reba McIntyre, who turns in an impressive performance. Unlike all the FREDDY THE 13TH (Don't blame me if I can't tell'em apart) movies, you find yourself rooting for these people.

While this movie might not be CITIZEN KANE, it is a perfect rental for a Friday night.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic horror/camp. A fun movie.
If you are looking for a good scare, Tremors is not the movie for you. However, if your goal is to be entertained, this is a great choice. Tremors is the story of two handymen, the people of the town they live in, and their encounters with a bunch of giant, man eating worms that live in the ground around the town. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward, who play the two handymen, won't win any academy awards for this one, but their performances as two offbeat handymen looking for something better make the movie. Micheal Gross and Reba McEntire add to the campy feel of this film as a survivalist couple with enough firepower to start (and probably end) world war three. The special effects are good and the plot, while simple, keeps you involved. Overall, this is a movie that is overjoyed to make fun of itself.

As for comparisons I have seen between this movie and Dune (possibly the WORST adaptation of any book ever to hit the big screen - David Lynch should be ashamed at the way he treated this classic story) the only similarity is that both stories have giant worms in them. Don't let comparisons to Dune scare you off - this movie is in no way similar. Tremors tries hard to be just what it succeeds in being - a campy, funny, semi-horror film that has no other goal but to entertain. Enjoy the film!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
The best movies are those in which you don't expect much and then it blows you away. I've read the other reviews and all those that are five star are on target. What can I add? Some of the banter, and curse words (that are not just the f word over and over) are orginal. The pseudoscientific stream involved with seismology, and sensitivity to sound is wonderfully written. All in all a classic tongue firmly in cheek movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Guess you broke into the wrong damn rec room, didn't ya!
In "Tremors," as you know, massive underground worms threaten to devour everyone in a small redneck town. I'm sure Freud would've loved it!

You'll love it too, if you have a penchant for cheerfully profane horror/comedy. "Tremors" is a delight, from the slightly bickering (and somewhat homoerotic) performances of Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward, to the offbeat casting, to the clever dialogue ("What kind of fuse is that?" "Cannon fuse." "What the hell do you use it for?" "My cannon."), to the worms themselves, which are totally convincing, if not all that scary.

It adds up to a wonderful waste of a couple hours. Is "Tremors" for you? Well, put it this way: if you're not interesting in seeing Steven Keaton and Reba McEntire blast the hell out of a massive worm from their underground arsenal, well, I just don't know how to talk to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars For sheer fun, "Tremors" can't be beat
What a rare treat to have comedy and horror blended together so amazingly well! This movie takes a standard thriller plot (small group of colorful characters becomes trapped by monsters and must work together and use their heads to figure out how to escape) and makes it seem brand-new. The rapport between the cast members--Bacon and Ward in particular--beautifully serves an already tight script. This movie has it all: drama, excitement, laughs, creativity, scares, and yes, even our hero's search for a good woman. Don't be put off by the fact that it co-stars Michael Gross and Reba McIntyre... their characters are two of the most enjoyable in the movie! As survivalists with somewhat itchy trigger fingers, the mere concept of these two characters could have easily plunged the movie into stupidity. But this is no inane shoot-'em-up flick. The direction and script are smart, and they don't let us down. Buy "Tremors." It's a blast. You won't regret it. I promise. If you don't love it, come find me and I will personally call you a moron. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Naval drama of the highest order

I saw this years ago, and finally purchased the 40th Anniversary VHS tape...a truly excellent and thought-provoking film.

When Billy Budd accidentally kills a sadistic officer on-board ship, the captain is forced to lay charges under wartime Naval law. In the process he unleashes larger issues about good and evil, and condemning a good man using "just the facts". If you liked the courtroom scene in The Caine Mutiny, you will find this fascinating.

One of the best films I've ever seen, that it's not on DVD is a tragedy...even more so because the picture quality on the VHS tape is very poor with terrible pan-and-scanning....Budd would cry.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Close to Perfect as a Movie Gets
Billy Budd ranks as one of the greatest movies of all time. Melville's tale of good vs. evil receives flawless treatment from director Ustinov. Robert Ryan has never been better as the evil Claggert, who epitomizes unredeemable evil. Terence Stamp is perfectly cast as the uncorruptable Budd who wishes to see good in every man, even Claggert. The movie builds to an unforgettable climax and packs an emotional wallop like no other movie I have seen. This version of Billy Budd has been out of print for years. To have it back is a cause of celebration. Do yourself and your family a favor: watch it together. They surely don't make movies like this anymore!

5-0 out of 5 stars A hidden gem of Ustinov as director. A winner film!
This film is unforgettable. Superb adaptation , wonderful cast Terence Stamp as Billy Budd and Robert Ryan , and the extarordinary talented Peter Ustinov carries this film to a good port.
You'll feel the unjustice in your own flesh. The depicted situations will keep you at the border of your seat.
One of the winners films in this specially and wonderfilly creative year.
A must in your collection.
We are expecting hopefully the transfer in DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Movie
This is the most important film that I share with others. Not only as shown by previous reviews does it show how human pragmatics in law and our attempts to design a just reality fail the ideals of humanity, but reveals a basic unavoidable contradiction with idealistic hope and pessimistic thought that are part of the reality we face. Pragmatically, logically and leagally this is reavling portayal of the mechanics of existence. This movie seems to be a post modern quintessential.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAW AND JUSTICE
The difference between Law and Justice was driven home to me by this film. I was a junior at Cal when I first saw it. Every inflection, every nuance is just perfect - it is truly as if you are there. A parable, a ripping yarn, to see it is to be stunned by it. I graduated and went to law school, now I am among the top 11% of lawyers in the country [Martindale-Hubbell "av"] and the story this movie tells still sticks in my mind as the perfect example of why the law can not always achieve justice. A real trial lawyers movie - up there with 12 Angry Men, Judgment at Neurenburg, etc ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jack before Jack and great followup to Mac
If you can follow my title than you want this DVD!!!!! RDA is excellent. The good cop/bad cop cliche works VERY well in this story. RDA plays Jack Rourke, a cop who was arrested years ago under false charges, was cleared but has never been able to shake the fact that he never gets promoted. He can't hold a relationship with anyone. Then he meets a murder witness with a HUGE story behind her also. He spends the vast majority of the film deciding whether he will actually break the law and system that have been unfair to him or keep on the right side. The movie is great and would have to be one of Richard's best works.

3-0 out of 5 stars A must for Richard Dean Anderson fans
A bit predictable but still a must see for RDA fans.

2-0 out of 5 stars Another flick from the bargin bin.
Made-for-TV thriller that is more predictable than thrilling.

Lynn is an office-clerk with a mysterious past and a tall stranger following her. The last thing she needs is to have an armed robber tell her the location of 2 million dollars in loot before he commits suicide. The other crooks involved are convinced that Lynn knows where the money is while the police know she was listening to loud music on her headphones and couldn't here a word.

As luck would have it an embittered cop is designated to be her protector and after a few rolls in the sheets he finds out Lynn's ability to read lips (incredible co-incidence isn't it?). So plots and betrayals spring up on all sides and you never know who you can trust with two million on the loose.

You average TV movie. The most redeeming feature about the DVD is that there are no commercials. But I suppose that there are enough "Family Ties" fans out there to keep this one on the shelves for a while ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I will be VERY disappointed!!
I am a huge fan of Dawson's Creek!I love the Pacey and Joey relationship.I have to admit that season six does not even come close to one of my favorite seasons, but it still has those few good episodes of Pacey & Joey together again.I have been faithful in purchasing every season as soon as it has been released & the series finale.I think it would be very wrong of the studio to release all of the seasons and not the final one.PLEASE hurry & release season 6!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dawson's Creek
I love this show and I really will cry if the whole show doesn't get released! I was so happy when I saw the first shows come out! Anyone who has never really been interested in this show--the first couple shows are a little cheesy but as the show develops the actors really get into it and it defiantly resembles high school life!

3-0 out of 5 stars Disapointing
It's true, the final season of DC didn't satisfy our expectations: Joey Potter's character over-used, boring stories with teachers (as usual: season 1,5), and characters who are living their lives far away from each others... It breaks no agreement that the magic of the TV show kind of disapeared in this season, but some good episodes (601-2, 615, 621, 623-4) explain why i will buy this last season anyway...

2-0 out of 5 stars Aw-aw-awful!
This season, compared to the first four ones, is utter crap. Starting from season 5 all the characters and the things you loved about Dawson's Creek are destroyed one by one. There were some nice moments in season 5 though (Dawson & Jen at the film festival, Mitch's dead, the Joey-only episode). And even season 6 has such a nice moment. It's the episode #615/119 "Castaways" which locks Joey and Pacey in a supermarket at night where they find back together (and Pacey finally gets rid of his awful goatee!) I really recommend this episode where you can watch the two having fun playing the old Joey and Pacey. And far away from the season 6 reality the old magic is back again. Dawson's Creek just wasn't made to take place outside Capeside. The two final episodes are really good (and heart-breaking) too. The rest is better not spoken of.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dawson's Creek Season 6 DVD
OK, I just bought season 5 of Dawson's Creek the other day on DVD. What makes me mad is that so much stuff got cut out. With the new music & this time they went as far as to cut some scenes out, this is pathectic! Also, there is not one special feature in the set! Why are they putting such little effort into these DVDs? This was a great show, & them releasing these DVDs is a punch in the face for fans. I own the first five seasons & the series finale. I know that they can release these DVDs with the original music, they're going way too far & pretty much butchering the show. The sets say "complete" on them, that is not complete people, it's pretty much lying right on the cover. Season 6 better be an improvement, with music, scenes, & special features. I am writing this item 3 stars right now, but I do not know what exactly it will be like. But, looking at the other sets, I am predicting this to be yet another disapointment. I guess we'll see. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars They don't make 'em like they used to
Although I'm a 25 year old Israeli woman, born after the Vietnam war was over, and halfway around the world, this series touched me in a way most dramas didn't. Perhaps it was Dana Delaney's excellent dramatic acting, or the music, or any of the wonderful features of the talented crew that made this beautiful series possible, but I get the feeling that although I like new drama series like ER or The West Wing, I feel that John Wells has learned well, but not enough. China Beach had a certain something that other drama series did not. I'm no expert, so I can't put my finger on it, but whatever it was, I haven't seen it since, and I suspect I'll never see it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars DANA DELANEY IS CHINA BEACH ! ! ! ! ! !
This closest thing to a perfect show is my favorite series of all time. The actors were always excellent (w/the exception of Robert Picardo and Megan Gallagher....I don't know, but I just didn't like them very much). The show could not have been made w/out Dana Delaney. If it had it wouldn't be half as good. She is Colleen McMurphy...McMurphy is China Beach...Dana Delaney is the key. Her performance both comic and drmatic are so true to life. Her emotions of the war are so real it scares you into thinking that this is too real. She has such a wonderful gift. I hope we see more of her real soon.

WHY IS THIS SERIES NOT ON DVD?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I find this a serieous omission. If anyone hears about it coming to DVD, please let me know by email! Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Have tried for years to find this on video
I, too, would buy every episode of this terrific series. I agree Dana Delaney was great, but, in my view, it was really an ensemble show. Marg Helgenberger as KC and Brian Wimmer as Boonie and Michael Boatman and Robert Picardo and Troy Evans and Concetta Tomei and absolutely everyone else were just terrific. Also, the production values were excellent. I remember sitting there watching and noticing how fabulous the lighting and cinematography were. I don't think any other television show has touched me as much as this one. Please, please bring this out on DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Writing, Great Acting...Give Us This Series On DVD!!!
I was a slow starter on this series when it originally aired. ABC basically killed any chances of the series picking up steam in the ratings by allowing "China Beach" to be shifted from one time slot to another, making it harder to keep up with. What a shame, the story lines and rich characters were worthy of much better treatment than they received.

It wasn't until a couple of years after ABC pulled the plug that A&E aired the entire series several times. I was able to finally see all the episodes I missed and I was HOOKED!! I truly believe that "China Beach" represents some of the best writing and acting I have ever seen in a television program--a very worthy effort that was never truly appreciated by the network PTB.

This series received tons of critical acclaim and was nominated for and received several Emmys. To my knowledge, it was never released in a VHS format--but it begs to be considered for release on dvd. PLEASE give the fans of "China Beach" the chance to see this series in format worthy of the talent that it represents.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent drama about Vietnam nurses, doctors, soldiers
This is the popular and much acclaimed "China Beach" TV series. Dana Delany has the role of her life playing Colleen McMurphy, a dedicated triage nurse in Vietnam. This is not a war action movie, but rather a drama about the lives of Vietnam soldiers and the nurses, Red Cross "Donut Dollies", and USO entertainers who are there for them. Dana Delaney is stunning in the role of McMurphy -- this alone would make this a classic. In addition, the deep respect and understanding shown for the Vietnam GI's sets this apart from most of the other Vietnam movies. This is a movie that people who weren't in Vietnam should watch to get a better appreciation for the men and women who served there. For those who were there, this movie is a token of respect and appreciation for your service. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 90210 on DVD...please
As many of the other reviewer's have written, it's far past the time to have 90210 out on DVD. Series like Friends and Sex in The City, who have just ended, or haven't even ended yet, are out on DVD..what's the holdup? Watching the reruns on FX was okay for a while, but now they've started replacing them with reruns of other shows. Soon the series will be gone forever. If Aaron Spelling was smart, he'd release the rights and let the production of the complete series on DVD roll.

5-0 out of 5 stars beverly hills 90210
just about every single show is now released on dvd except 90210 and i still dont understand why..i watch it every single day..it's something i grew up with..it's basically the greatest of aaron spellings stuff so wouldnt the better stuff be released first? although since amazon does not have it and i'm too tired of waiting , i've been looking all over for 90210 and i think i might have found one company..not ppl from ebay but from a company..so i'm sure you all want to check it out if you havent already..the site is www.TVonDisc.com..it is only sold altogether and not seperatly..the full 10 seasons for $350.00..but i'm still skeptical so i wrote an email to them with questions but havent received anything back from them yet..so i will keep checking and let you know more and i hope you do the same for me..thank you

5-0 out of 5 stars Be Patient
We as fans have to wait until syndication is not profitable for the show anymore. They are still making money with it showing on FX. Once they money stops or slows down, hopefully they will come out with each season one after another! Until that point we just have to wait....

5-0 out of 5 stars BH 90210 - The Complete 1st Season
They really need to consider releasing these on DVD, I'm sure many fans from the ages of 17-30 would be very interested in these products, and let's face up....women between those ages make up the biggest merchandising market out there. I, for one, am HUGE on dvd collections, and I cherish mine. So many are starting to release now, and I love the fact that I can simply pop in a DVD now to watch my favorite shows or host my marathons of a certain tv show. I would definetly buy BH 9010, all seasons, if they were released!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beverly Hills 90210
Here it is! We have been waiting for this a decade or so. I wish the Studio could finally realise that this tv show created a trend in the 90's. Sometimes it is hard to believe that people can forget every guilty please they had. I am sure that there is hundreds and hundreds of people that saw this show and even though it may have been some kind of tv sin for some it is one of the best shows. I am eager to hear that the show is finally on DVD and we will be able to enjoy it. ... Read more
