Ally McBeal is an American TV show so I do not understand why Americans have only been given this small bundle of episodes when over in my home country England we have ALL the seasons available with special features!

For you hardcore Ally fans I'll give you some handy advice. Save up for a multi-region dvd player or a computer that plays dvds. Go on over to amazon.co.uk and purchase the season box sets!

UPSET!
I love the show Ally Mcbeal, and I am upset that there is only one season released here in the US! I ordered three seasons from the UK website only to get them in the mail and find out that they are not compatible with the systems of the U.S. so either way I am still with out any of the episodes!It cost me $32.00 to send it back to the U.K., and I'm not even sure amazon.uk will refund the cost of the sets! So I am out of over $100.00 trying to buy the series of this wonderful show. I am upset at the entire situation!

What an insult!!
While I might be inclined to believe that the seris was a cult fav, it still was extremely popular. This DVD release is an insult to all the faithful followers and just a tease to those who are unfamiliar with the ironic yet hilarious humor. There is a bit of Ally in all of us. Does Fox even know how frustrating it is to know that Ally is available in just about every country but the U.S.? I had to buy season one off a jerk on ebay and it was burnt and it sucked! I did get season four from a fabulous person in another country. Expensive song rights or not, give your loyal fans what they deserve and make it good with deleted scenes and lots of special features!!!!

For Adam Sandler fans only, this dopey comedy features the former Saturday Night Live star as an overindulged rich guy whose father insists he repeat grades 1 through 12 before taking over the family business. The scenario is perfect for Sandler's infantile leanings (which he has fortunately outgrown in more recent movies), and for the most part the jokes about being too old and too big for the experiment are obvious. Awesome Flicks! Buy Them!
These are quite possibly the two greatest Adam Sandler movies ever released. His new movies of of no comparison to the great comical humor of both Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. Now, I haven't seen the deleted scenes supposed to be placed only in this set for these two movies, but they should be great. GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!
As a white guy, I was not the least bit offended by this movie. I think most people out there simply didn't get it. Martin Lawrence was PURPOSELY playing a character who was over the top in his suspicion of white people, especially cops.

I don't understand why so many people are put off. Lawrence was hardly subtle in playing a black Rodney-Kingesque character who then has to team up with the white cop who allegedly abused him.

And Lawrence's character is put in his place later in the film when he finds that the Steve Zahn character has a black girlfriend. I admit that this was a little heavy-handed, but that's how this movie goes.

That said..it was not a great movie. it was very predictable in plot. I knew right away who the bad guys would turn out to be, and pretty much how the story would unfold.

There were some funny moments, but this was pretty standard "odd-couple" action comedy ala Lethal Weapon and Rush Hour, but not nearly as good as those movies.

Hilarious
The movie doesn't start off as Martin Lawarnce and Steve Zahn as partners. Hank Steve's character is a cop and Martin's characters gets his keys stuck in his car and Steve thinks Earl Martins character is stealing his car. Hank then trys to consult Earl but he won't bit. A bumble bee then stumbles in and Earl is alergic to bumble bee's and Hank trys to get it out and a local citezin records this incident. Then Earl charges Hank with assualt because he's black. You have got to watch this film. It is fu&^$&& funny!!!!WATCH IT!!!

Goofy and entertaining - but nothing special
In this goofy cop drama, Martin Lawrence plays Earl, a white-bashing, easily terrorized black man who sends Los Angeles cop Hank (Steve Zahn) to jail because of his hysterical and inaccurate testimony. When, six months later, the two find themselves unwittingly together as security guards protecting a warehouse during a heist, they team up to track down the bad guys. Lawrence is funny at first with his poor-oppressed-black-guy routine, but it gets tired - and even offensive - fast, mostly because Earl is such a buffoon; he seems too clownishly stupid to be much more than a stereotype. Hank is the straight man, and you can't help feeling sorry for him as he endures Earl's completely misguided riffs. Yeah, this film has some laughs, especially during the slapstick scenes, but they are either mild or mindless, fine as long as you don't expect uproarious comedy.

This film is definitely a rental, not a purchase. It is entertaining, humorous, but nothing you'll remember in a few days.

Good film,but flawed...
National Security was a good film,but had some flaws.The stunts and action secquences were satisfying,but if there had been more action in the film,the action would have been excellent.Another flaw is that Steve Zahn's acting was horrible as Hank Rafferty.Zahn wasn't convincable one bit.Terrible casting choice.Also,Martin Lawrence took up most of the movie with racist humor and dialogue and being afraid of bees.Overall,you should see this movie.Rating:9/10

ONE OF THE FUNNIEST FILMS OF THE YEAR
There really hasn't been too many successful comedies this year. "Joe Dirt" pretty much got some of the worst reviews from critics all around, and "Nutty Professor 2" also wasn't a favorite as well. Well, there was one funny film that critics hated, but I thought was outrageous and hysterical. That movie would be "Saving Silverman".

Meet Darren Silverman; a lonely, and desperate romantic who never catches a break when it comes to women. His one and only true love Sandy had moved away a long time ago, and since then he has feared that he will be alone forever. The only thing he has are his two best buddies, Wayne and J.D., who are more than hopeless geeks. Everything changes when Darren meets Judith; a cold-hearted woman who wants to prey on a man she can control. Soon, the two start to go out, and Judith demands that Darren shall no longer be associated with J.D. and Wayne.

Well, the two friends are not going to surrender and see their pal, Darren, throw his life away so he can be controlled by a psychotic woman who J.D. refers to her as "Hannibal Lecture". They decide to kidnap Judith so they can have their buddy back. And that's when all of the laughs and chaos starts to come at you like an out of control train.

"Saving Silverman" is an outrageous comedy that delivers non-stop laughs. Though there are some moments where the movie seems to go to desperate lengths, it is still a great comedy. Don't pay attention to the critics, just see the movie for yourself and make up your own mind.

Disappointing
The general idea of this dumb teen comedy is that a group of three friends have been broken up by one of the friends' girlfriend. I watched this movie because I'm a fan of Jack Black, but this movie doesn't work on so many levels. First of all, you never really get the feeling that the friendship between these three friends is really very strong. So when they start kidnapping and planning murder, you don't really understand why they're going to all the trouble. Another thing is the obsession with Neil Diamond. It's never really funny and it just falls flat. Third, the chemistry between the supposed romantic interests is terrible. The characters are all supposed to be in such deep love, but you never see it in this movie. If you're interested in comedy, you can find lots of better movies than this. For Jack Black fans, head for High Fidelity, or School of Rock instead.

Don't Be Fooled!!
I am so angry at the people who put this out. It was a mean trick to play on the unsuspecting movie-going public! I thought with a title like "Saving Silverman" it would be a war movie like "Saving Private Ryan" but this is a dumb teen comedy. Not a single shot is fired in anger or for any other reason for that matter. Don't be taken in.

More aggrivating than funny (around 2.5 stars)
More often than not, I found myself wanting to jump through the TV and strangle Jason Biggs or Amanda Peet (usually both), and I must tell you, aggrivation is not something I enjoy feeling in a comedy. I felt a little aggrivated watching American Pie 1 and 2 also b/c of Biggs, but hey, when you've got Sean William Scott (as well as a bunch of other talented actors), you're guarenteed a damn good time, and anyone who doesn't like the American Pie movies has horrible tastes in movies. Anyway, onto this decent (but not great) movie.

First, the good parts about it (and I will not waste much time on plot so as not to ruin the movie). Anytime Jack Black (and sometimes when Steven Zahn) is on screen, you will laugh. Period! I've always believed in Black, and this is no exception (infact, this may be one of his best works, where he is just as dumb and clueless as can be!). Zahn is ok in this film, but he's been better. He's a little too serious for my taste here, but he provides a few genuine laughs. Also, R. Lee Ermey is hilarious as the football coach; sugesting that the best way to separate Biggs from his hell of a girlfriend is to kill her. Now, I will discuss what disgusts me about this movie.

First of all, the parts created for Biggs and Peet are way overdone. Biggs plays such a big loser (wow, what a shocker!) in this film that whenever I see him on screen, I want to beat him senseless and say "Quit being a G.D. pushover!!! Use that brain that God gave you!!" Throughout the movie, he constantly gives into Judith's (Peet) every demands, including butt implants, burning his beloved Neil Diamond albums (why young guys in their late 20's would worship Neil Diamond of all people is a mystery to me), and, get this, not hanging out with his lifelong friends. GET A G.D. CLUE AND QUIT BEING A MORON!!! ......Ok, I'm cooled down now. Equally as annoying is Peet, as she takes her character way over the top. She is such a horrible bitch that not even the hounds of hell would want to date her. I really was hoping that Black and Zahn would kill her, because the characters that Biggs and Peet play are losers you really wouldn't wish on anyone. (by the way, having Zahn marry Peet at the end is a lame way to end the movie; he should have beat the crap outta her!) Finally, Jason Biggs cannot act; period! Someone should just give him the pink slip and end his career; American Pie would have been funnier (by epic proportions) if he was not in it, and unless he completely changes his acting style, I will await his demise.

Hilarious
This movie is excellent. It's true that the writing is not possibly the best, but there are so many slapstick stunts, and people doing stupid things, that this movie is hilarious. It is funny from beginning to end, and it is fast paced. Excellent acting, excellent directing, funny characters. A must see!! ... Read more

Gosh--kids. You gotta love 'em, right? Well, not necessarily-- particularly if you're Adam Sandler. But Big Daddy is about paternal devotion in its own oblique way. Sandler plays Sonny Koufax, a law-school grad who has been milking an accident settlement to cover his living expenses, while he continues to slack his way through life. But when his girlfriend threatens to dump him, he decides to show her he's serious about their relationship and pretends to adopt a little boy (in fact, his roommate's son from a one-night stand several years earlier, who shows up on their doorstep just after the roommate leaves town on a job). But after taking care of the tyke for a couple of days, Sonny finds that it's a little like feeding that stray dog that followed you home: Before you know it, you've grown attached to the little fella--and then what are you going to do? Pretty funny, pretty good
I think that by this time in Adam Sandler's career, there are two kinds of fans: ones who either hate him, or love him. And to be blunt, his roles in most of his movies are not that great. For instance; playing the title character in "Happy Gilmore", he was a hockey/golf pro. In "The Waterboy" he played a retarted waterboy. And in "Little Nicky" he played the Devil's son. Now, all of these roles are not ones that we can relate to. But yet we still loved those films, and with good reason.

But in "Big Daddy", Sandler plays Sonny Koufax. What makes this role so much better is that there's a sense of love from within. When a young boy (Cole/Dylan Sprouse) is left outside his door, he takes him in and gives him a home. And for anyone who saw "Billy Madison" you see the irony here. Anyway, to make a long story short, it's the most well-rounded character he's every played. It's a movie that anyone can like, even if they don't like Adam Sandler. Grant it, he has the starring role, but he's with a great supporting cast. It includes Joey Lauren Adams, Jon Stewart and Rob Schneider, along with some Sandler-movie regulars. Joey is particularly good here. She provides more seriousness than most of his female co-stars from earlier films.

This movie is definetly a comedy--and it' a good one at that. But it has more than just stupid laughs. It's cute, it's sad, and it's something you shouldn't be able to hate. The movie may be around 3.5 stars, it's better than just three. The only reason it didn't get more is because of the ending. I didn't think much of the ending, but I guess it was fitting. Anyway, Adam Sandler does something in this movie that I hope continues for him; that being playing great roles. So watch this movie, whether you like Adam Sandler or not. It' a great film.

This movie really shows Adam Sandler's soft side.
This is a great movie, all around. It's got comedy like every Adam Sandler movie, but it's also got a real show of heart. I mean, what are you supposed to do when a kid shows up on your doorstep and you're told that he's your roommate's son, but your roommate is off on a business trip? Julian is an adorable little guy, and you can really see that he got attached to Sonny, only to be told that he had to go away by the social services. That tugs at the heartstrings, especially when Julian is being led out of Sonny's apartment by the social worker repeating "But I wipe my own ass!", thinking that it was his fault he had to go away. Adam Sandler's character really showed a soft side when he gave that speech in court when it was going to be decided whether Julian would stay with him or with the adoption services. Overall, it's a wonderful movie.

Law school grade likes tripping skate boarders
I first saw this movie on TV edited for a general audience. I guess the whole family and I were enjoying it so much we didn't notice all the Bleeps. When Sandler loses the kid, all three of my younger children were sobing. We laughed, we cried, we cheered when the good guys won the day. But...

Then I bought the movie. This is not a family friendly movie becuase the language is to salty. Sandler, who hardly ever got very much face time on Saturday night Live, except in the credits has turned out to be one of my favorites. I like almost everything he does. Big daddy is a 4 star, very good movie, but i have to give it 3 stars for the cursing.

I'm proud to say "Happy Gilmore" will make you scream with laughter, my friend. This is Adam Sandler's platinum hit, the best comedy of his career. The movie Happy Gilmore is the funniest laugh-out loud golf comedy since Caddy Shack. From the very first scene to the last, Adam Sandler and his cast will keep you in stiches and gasping for a breath. Unlike other of his comedies, Adama Sandler is not the only one delivering the laughs. A cast, who isn't that famous yet, but hilarious and meant for each role that they play accompany Sandler. The movie follows the entertaining career change of Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) who goes from being a brutal hockey player to a golf sensation. After finding out that his grandma has lost her house as the result of not paying her taxes, Happy vows to get the house back. After being cut from the local hockey team, Happy is discovered by an old golf pro, Chubs Peterson. He tells Happy that he has the potential to make a large sum of money playing golf. A light bulb goes off in Gilmore's head and he decides to put his hockey career on hold for a while to pursue this idea of becoming a golfer and thereby raising the money to get his grandma's house back. After winning a local tournament Gilmore makes the pro tour and is ready to start making money. His journey through the tour takes many comedic ups and downs as he battles with the villian of the movie, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald). Shooter will do anything to prevent Happy Gilmore from succeeding. This movie is a classic and undoubtedly one of the best comedies of all time. There is not a dull moment in the movie and anybody who dosen't laugh at Gilmore's antics on the course must surely have no sense of humour. There is no stop to the endless number of sidesplitting actors in this movie. Even when Adam Sandler is not in the scene, Christopher McDonald amuses you with his arrogant yet comical style and the cameo by Bob Barker is icing on the cake. I give the movie five out of five stars and recommend it for anyone who likes to laugh.

A modern-day 'Caddyshack'
This movie will have you grabbing your sides and gasping for air. Adam Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, a lowclass guy trying to win money for his grandma through his newly discovered talent of hitting the ball faaaaaaaaaaar in golf. His putting is horrible though. And like any comedy, there must be a rival. A proffesional golfer who feels Happy is an insult to the Golfing industry tries to keep Happy from winning so that he himself can win.

This movie is like a modern version of Caddyshack, and great for the whole family.

This is a good movie
I was totally unfamiliar with Adam Sandlers work prior to buying this movie and The Wedding Singer. I'd just bought my first DVD player and I wanted movies. I liked the two movies. Then I rented Big Daddy. I thought wow, Adam Sandler makes great movies. Then I rented several other Adam Sandler movies. Which I didn't like at all. I think Happy Gilmore probably steals the distinction of the being best Golf movie from Caddy Shack. Maybe not, but Happy Gilmore is a classic and one of those movies I can watch over and over.

One question I have is how come you can watch a trailer for Happy Gilmore on the Billy Madison DVD and the trailer is shown in widescreen but they opted to use the cropped pan and scan format for Happy Gilmore on it's own DVD?

That is my only complaint about this DVD and if a widescreen DVD ever becomes available I will buy it and either sell trade or give away or my pan and scan DVD! ... Read more

Fantastic!
I LOVE this movie! My favourite scene is when Junior leaves the orphanage and the Nun's release the baloons! This truly is a laugh out loud movie, no matter what your age!

Great Movies, Bad DVD
These are some of the funniest movies ever up with my favorites "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" and "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" "Problem Child" and "Problem Child 2" are classics. It's the best of the great, late John Ritter. The sequel is better I think, but the first one's good. I almost cried in the first one once when Marty shoots Ben. That was sad. But it turned comic when he shot the prune. I saw the sequel first. My favorite sequences are the scene in Peabody's office, the carnival - blecch - scene. Wonderful performances by Yasbeck, Ritter, Oliver and Gottfried. These are up there. But the DVD sucked. The only feature is a trailer for each film. But when I saw two movies on one disc, I understood. Next time.

classic childish comedy
finally here two classic laugh out loud no matter what age you are comedys.problem child 1 and 2 are a classic example of comedys that dont take themselfs too seriously and in the process make for heilirous viewing.the jokes are more hit than miss and especially in 2 push the bounderies of what you get in a pg rated movie.number 2 is still my favorite and after all these years these movies sure do stand the test of time.finally movies that live up to the fond childhood memories.plus junior is a total (jerk) and a great role model for all young kids.

Pure Fun - A Treat!
I know, I know, 5 stars???!!! To me yes, 5 stars... If it makes me laugh out loud it get's 5 stars. Why? These movies can be watched again and again without seeming stale to me. Finally, these movies are available on DVD. These movies are pure silliness, but loads of fun. Ok, it's not art, but I laughed my butt off throughout the whole movie(s). It's nice to see that Ritter will be remembered - he was a joy to watch in these two films. I would compare these movies to Dennis the Menace (Dir. by John Hughes). Special scenes to my heart are Martha Quinn (yes, the MTV VJ Martha Quinn) blind date; the food fight in the Bubble Room (in Maitland/Orlando FL -The Bubble Room closed down a few years ago, and it's nice to see it is preserved in this movie); and Lorraine Newmann (from the Not Ready for Time Prime Players aka Saturday Night Live Original Member) wedding scenes. With the release of Wiseguy on DVD, one of the best TV series of the 1980s gets a new lease on life. I just finished the Sonny Steelgrave arc and was disappointed with only one thing. In the last episode of the Arc, when Sonny and Vinnie are in the theater, they changed the background music from the original. We all know it is a dumb movie but don't take it seriously.
What is the problem with people who hate this movie so bad what is so horrible about this film? I laugh everytime I see this movie it is very fun to watch not boring but I admit the some of the story is rather stupid but you have to expect it with a movie like this. I have seen so many more stupiter movies than this. Of course all of you people can complain that if you like this movie you have some serious issues SHUT UP! John Ritter was good with kids in it and the other actors were alright but have a light heart while watching it don't take the film seriously just sit back and laugh at it it is a fun movie. And some other reviewer said that they got physically ill after watching this movie What the hell is that all about? I really cannot think of one thing that can be so bad in this movie that makes people hate Problem Child so bad it is a funny movie.

It's Too Short
I liked the movie, I've seen it many times. But, there is always a problem, the movie ends too quickly. The movie is only an hour and, maybe, fifteen minutes? A movie should be one hour and thirty minutes/two hours. And the begining is too long. OK, so the boy goes from house to house because nobody wants him. I get the point. Does it really have to be five/ten minutes to tell us that the boy is a troublemaker? And what ever happened to the wife, Amy Yasbeck? For fifteen/twenty minutes, she's in a suitcase! I think you should see this movie but don't get your hopes up. It's not the best John Ritter movie. :(

A sad day for comedy lovers
It is a sad day for comedy lovers as we lost John Ritter. Problem Child is an entertaining movie. Both Ritter and the young child actor are brilliant in this too-short amusing tale. The only warning I could give you is consider whether or not you want to give your children this movie - it might give them ideas. Know what I mean? :)

Not as good as the last 2, but cool...
I like the beginning the best, when they are first getting Junior, but all in all a pretty good, family flick. When my sisters and brothers discovered this movie, they watched it at least once a week. Only my brother was born yet when it was released, but I had seen it so I skipped but now I love watching it on TV. Again, though, the last two were much better. Mr. Deeds
Following the flop of Little Nicky, Adam Sandler returned to safe territory in Mr. Deeds... and made Nicky look inspired by comparison. A loose remake of Frank Capra's 1936 classic Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, this dumbed-down version finds Sandler in the Gary Cooper role, inheriting a vast fortune and a corporate empire, foiling a greedy executive (Peter Gallagher), and winning the heart of an undercover reporter (Winona Ryder) who's been mocking his small-town naiveté in print while falling for his goodhearted sincerity. It's fun enough to satisfy Sandler's loyal fans--and John Turturro's a hoot as Deeds's foot-fetishist butler--but the subtleties of Capra are lost on Sandler, director Steven Brill, and writer Tim Herlihy. While Gary Cooper portrayed a rube who was savvy about big-city cynicism, Sandler's an amiable goofball with a heart of gold and an empty skull. Gosh--kids. You gotta love 'em, right? Well, not necessarily--particularly if you're Adam Sandler. But Big Daddy is about paternal devotion in its own oblique way. Sandler plays Sonny Koufax, a law-school grad who has been milking an accident settlement to cover his living expenses, while he continues to slack his way through life. But when his girlfriend threatens to dump him, he decides to show her he's serious about their relationship and pretends to adopt a little boy (in fact, his roommate's son from a one-night stand several years earlier, who shows up on their doorstep just after the roommate leaves town on a job). But after taking care of the tyke for a couple of days, Sonny finds that it's a little like feeding that stray dog that followed you home: Before you know it, you've grown attached to the little fella--and then what are you going to do? ONE OF THE FUNNIEST FILMS OF THE YEAR
There really hasn't been too many successful comedies this year. "Joe Dirt" pretty much got some of the worst reviews from critics all around, and "Nutty Professor 2" also wasn't a favorite as well. Well, there was one funny film that critics hated, but I thought was outrageous and hysterical. That movie would be "Saving Silverman".

Meet Darren Silverman; a lonely, and desperate romantic who never catches a break when it comes to women. His one and only true love Sandy had moved away a long time ago, and since then he has feared that he will be alone forever. The only thing he has are his two best buddies, Wayne and J.D., who are more than hopeless geeks. Everything changes when Darren meets Judith; a cold-hearted woman who wants to prey on a man she can control. Soon, the two start to go out, and Judith demands that Darren shall no longer be associated with J.D. and Wayne.

Well, the two friends are not going to surrender and see their pal, Darren, throw his life away so he can be controlled by a psychotic woman who J.D. refers to her as "Hannibal Lecture". They decide to kidnap Judith so they can have their buddy back. And that's when all of the laughs and chaos starts to come at you like an out of control train.

"Saving Silverman" is an outrageous comedy that delivers non-stop laughs. Though there are some moments where the movie seems to go to desperate lengths, it is still a great comedy. Don't pay attention to the critics, just see the movie for yourself and make up your own mind.

Disappointing
The general idea of this dumb teen comedy is that a group of three friends have been broken up by one of the friends' girlfriend. I watched this movie because I'm a fan of Jack Black, but this movie doesn't work on so many levels. First of all, you never really get the feeling that the friendship between these three friends is really very strong. So when they start kidnapping and planning murder, you don't really understand why they're going to all the trouble. Another thing is the obsession with Neil Diamond. It's never really funny and it just falls flat. Third, the chemistry between the supposed romantic interests is terrible. The characters are all supposed to be in such deep love, but you never see it in this movie. If you're interested in comedy, you can find lots of better movies than this. For Jack Black fans, head for High Fidelity, or School of Rock instead.

Don't Be Fooled!!
I am so angry at the people who put this out. It was a mean trick to play on the unsuspecting movie-going public! I thought with a title like "Saving Silverman" it would be a war movie like "Saving Private Ryan" but this is a dumb teen comedy. Not a single shot is fired in anger or for any other reason for that matter. Don't be taken in.

More aggrivating than funny (around 2.5 stars)
More often than not, I found myself wanting to jump through the TV and strangle Jason Biggs or Amanda Peet (usually both), and I must tell you, aggrivation is not something I enjoy feeling in a comedy. I felt a little aggrivated watching American Pie 1 and 2 also b/c of Biggs, but hey, when you've got Sean William Scott (as well as a bunch of other talented actors), you're guarenteed a damn good time, and anyone who doesn't like the American Pie movies has horrible tastes in movies. Anyway, onto this decent (but not great) movie.

First, the good parts about it (and I will not waste much time on plot so as not to ruin the movie). Anytime Jack Black (and sometimes when Steven Zahn) is on screen, you will laugh. Period! I've always believed in Black, and this is no exception (infact, this may be one of his best works, where he is just as dumb and clueless as can be!). Zahn is ok in this film, but he's been better. He's a little too serious for my taste here, but he provides a few genuine laughs. Also, R. Lee Ermey is hilarious as the football coach; sugesting that the best way to separate Biggs from his hell of a girlfriend is to kill her. Now, I will discuss what disgusts me about this movie.

First of all, the parts created for Biggs and Peet are way overdone. Biggs plays such a big loser (wow, what a shocker!) in this film that whenever I see him on screen, I want to beat him senseless and say "Quit being a G.D. pushover!!! Use that brain that God gave you!!" Throughout the movie, he constantly gives into Judith's (Peet) every demands, including butt implants, burning his beloved Neil Diamond albums (why young guys in their late 20's would worship Neil Diamond of all people is a mystery to me), and, get this, not hanging out with his lifelong friends. GET A G.D. CLUE AND QUIT BEING A MORON!!! ......Ok, I'm cooled down now. Equally as annoying is Peet, as she takes her character way over the top. She is such a horrible bitch that not even the hounds of hell would want to date her. I really was hoping that Black and Zahn would kill her, because the characters that Biggs and Peet play are losers you really wouldn't wish on anyone. (by the way, having Zahn marry Peet at the end is a lame way to end the movie; he should have beat the crap outta her!) Finally, Jason Biggs cannot act; period! Someone should just give him the pink slip and end his career; American Pie would have been funnier (by epic proportions) if he was not in it, and unless he completely changes his acting style, I will await his demise.

Hilarious
This movie is excellent. It's true that the writing is not possibly the best, but there are so many slapstick stunts, and people doing stupid things, that this movie is hilarious. It is funny from beginning to end, and it is fast paced. Excellent acting, excellent directing, funny characters. A must see!! ... Read more

I'm proud to say "Happy Gilmore" will make you scream with laughter, my friend. This is Adam Sandler's platinum hit, the best comedy of his career. It has the coveted Amazon.com five-star customer rating, a rare find indeed for the comedy lover, and reviewers call it "the best golf comedy since 'Caddyshack'". The movie stars Adam Sandler (Bulletproof, The Wedding Singer, Billy Madison) as Happy Gilmore, a short-fused hockey player who just realized he AGAIN didn't make the cut for his hockey team for the 10th time in a row. After taking out his raging anger on the coach, he life begins to spiral downwards when his girlfriend leaves him, and he realizes his grandmother's prized house built by his grandfather's bare hands if about to be seized by the IRS in 90 days due to her failure to pay taxes in over a decade. But when he discovers his monster hockey slapshot equals one hell of a talent in golf, he is talked into playing golf by a local retired golfer, Chubbs Peterson, for the money to reclaim his grandma's house. The movie Happy Gilmore is the funniest laugh-out loud golf comedy since Caddy Shack. From the very first scene to the last, Adam Sandler and his cast will keep you in stiches and gasping for a breath. Unlike other of his comedies, Adama Sandler is not the only one delivering the laughs. A cast, who isn't that famous yet, but hilarious and meant for each role that they play accompany Sandler. The movie follows the entertaining career change of Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) who goes from being a brutal hockey player to a golf sensation. After finding out that his grandma has lost her house as the result of not paying her taxes, Happy vows to get the house back. After being cut from the local hockey team, Happy is discovered by an old golf pro, Chubs Peterson. He tells Happy that he has the potential to make a large sum of money playing golf. A light bulb goes off in Gilmore's head and he decides to put his hockey career on hold for a while to pursue this idea of becoming a golfer and thereby raising the money to get his grandma's house back. After winning a local tournament Gilmore makes the pro tour and is ready to start making money. His journey through the tour takes many comedic ups and downs as he battles with the villian of the movie, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald). Shooter will do anything to prevent Happy Gilmore from succeeding. This movie is a classic and undoubtedly one of the best comedies of all time. There is not a dull moment in the movie and anybody who dosen't laugh at Gilmore's antics on the course must surely have no sense of humour. There is no stop to the endless number of sidesplitting actors in this movie. Even when Adam Sandler is not in the scene, Christopher McDonald amuses you with his arrogant yet comical style and the cameo by Bob Barker is icing on the cake. I give the movie five out of five stars and recommend it for anyone who likes to laugh.

A modern-day 'Caddyshack'
This movie will have you grabbing your sides and gasping for air. Adam Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, a lowclass guy trying to win money for his grandma through his newly discovered talent of hitting the ball faaaaaaaaaaar in golf. His putting is horrible though. And like any comedy, there must be a rival. A proffesional golfer who feels Happy is an insult to the Golfing industry tries to keep Happy from winning so that he himself can win.

This movie is like a modern version of Caddyshack, and great for the whole family.

This is a good movie
I was totally unfamiliar with Adam Sandlers work prior to buying this movie and The Wedding Singer. I'd just bought my first DVD player and I wanted movies. I liked the two movies. Then I rented Big Daddy. I thought wow, Adam Sandler makes great movies. Then I rented several other Adam Sandler movies. Which I didn't like at all. I think Happy Gilmore probably steals the distinction of the being best Golf movie from Caddy Shack. Maybe not, but Happy Gilmore is a classic and one of those movies I can watch over and over.

Needs to also Have a Widscreen DVD! Not Just Pan and Scan!!!
