No Justice in Hell
Hellraiser III is a big departure from the previous two films (although it was written be Pete Atkins, who wrote Hellbound). The beginning of the film presents us with lighting and locales that just seemed too representative of the early nineties time period.
A lot of the film doesn't make sense for the first hour, which is punctuated by dreams, and a few killings which just chalk it up to "slasher" status. Events are too formulatic, which cheats us out the novelty of Hellraiser I and II.
Things start to make sense after about fourty-five minutes, when we learn that Pin-head's human form has been split from his Cenobite persona, which has taken refuse in a statue, that talks to its owner.
The dialogue from Pin-head is a lot less all-knowing resident of Hell, and a lot more devil-on-your-left-shoulder. But at least his vocabulary stays intact. This doesn't save him from being degraded down to Freddy-status as just another evil voice in the shadows.
After being released from the statue, Pin-head goes out on a rampage, and making himself so damn public. Because everyone has seen him (not to mention an earlier hospital scene), the movie seems a lot less personal, and looses traction for it. The up side of this sequence is the end where you watch a closed door seep out blood with hook noises coming from inside for a length of time that just makes one feel slightly uncomfortable.
In the final moments, Pin-head creates his own Cenobites, which lessens their mystique. The last four were truely creatures of hell, but these guys just look like a make-up designer's wet dream.
All in all I thought it made a good horror film, but its desire to stay with a more conventional formula makes it a bad choice to carry the title Hellraiser. ... Read more

Middle of the road. That's it, and that's all!
This movie is nothing more than an attempt to cash in on the first one's success. Julian Sands once again returns as Satan's son, but he seems to be sleepwalking this go-round. Two disposable teenage actors (Paula Marshall and Christopher Young), play two descendants of Druid warriors who are the ONLY people who can fight the Warlock and prevent him from releasing Satan into Earth. Oh, and there are six rune stones or something he has to possess to unlock Satan from the bowels of the Earth (etc.etc.). You get the idea.

Anyway, this has some pretty decent effects, and some pioneering computer animations, but all in all, it's a very weak film, and, putting the special effects aside, there's not much left but incompetent acting and cheap thrills. If you like the Warlock films or love Julian Sands, buy this one, or if you're curious, buy it, but overall, you could skip it without really missing anything.

ANTHONY HICKOX DOES IT AGAIN!
Warlock:The Armageddon is an enjoyable watch. I bought this DVD because 1.Anthony Hickox directed it. 2.Monika Schnarre has a small part in it. I hadn't seen it before when I purchased this film, but I enjoyed it. I love what Anthony Hickox did with this sequel. The special effects, a good cast. I love Paula Marshall (from 'Hellrasier 3)- what a talented and likeable actress. I got a thrill seeing Monika Schnarre again in a small part as a runway model.

I hope that anthony Hickox would make more films like this.

Druidism and Satanism?
I have to say, that I am really into Horror-Films, also if they have a satanic touch; but when I saw, that this film is a mixing of old pagan-rites with satanic rites I came into rage. For myself Wicca and celtic Rites of Paganism are wonderful Ways and I learned, that Pagans do not believe in Satan! So, this story is one of the worst, I've ever seen! If the producer would describe kabbala-rites, which would be more suitable than pagan-rites, this film would be a little bit more interesting...

But sorry, Paganism and Satanism... nothing has to do with each other...

Fasten your seatbelt!
An unexpected treat. Just when you think you know where this movie is going it heads off in another genre-bending direction. Armand Assante isn't your everyday dentist, but then again The Sopranos' Lola Glaudini isn't exactly your typical loan officer. 'There is no good, and no evil, only flesh. ...Shall we Begin'. The third movie in the Hellraiser series, has Clive Barker's evil 'Lament Configuration Puzzle Box' appearing as dark decoration hanging along side a Joe Coleman painting, at an underground punk / metal bar called 'The Boiler Room'. After a local punk kid is ripped apart by many hooked chains; taken to the hospital to later explode, a reporter is hot on the story.. She finds a goth girl named Terri, who trades information for a place to stay. It seems that Terri has stolen the pandora's box from the club, and later she releases Pinhead from the statue that he is encased in. Pinhead with his Cenobites are free to roam the Earth in a rampage. Each of the Cenobites are based on the single defining characteristic of the person that they had been in life. The reporters cameraman becomes "Camerahead". The DJ from the nightclub shoots CDs, for his weapon of choice, and the former bartender mixes deadly flaming drinks. After a vicious street battle and the destruction of a church, the reporter tricks Pinhead into entering her dream limbo, between heaven and hell. Once there Pinhead's former self 'Captain Elliot Spenser' helps the reporter send Pinhead back to hell. Hellraiser III on DVD Finally!
First, the DVD, it's not the greatest in the world, No Dolby 5.1 Surround, not letterboxed, but nice to complete the series on DVD at last. This is technically the unrated version of the film, 2 added minutes, which is mostly extended gore...Great stuff! There are NO extras either, oh well. It's available, I guess that's what counts and as originally a Paramount Pictures release I wouldn't look for a Collector's Edition any time soon. As for the movie itself, I loved it. With the introduction of new Cenobites, CD head the coolest of them all, gave us a fresh perspective of Pinhead's abilities to replace his former troup. Unfortunately they didn't give his new cohorts a lot time to explore. Pinhead does get more screen time (unlike Hellraiser Inferno) and finally Doug Bradley (not Doug Stewart as mentioned in another review) gets screen time without makeup, gives us a broader view of his backstory and how he became this monstrosity. ("Bloodline" gives us the Lament Configuration Box history). All in all a pretty good film except for some cheesy effects, the melding of Pinhead and Elliott at the end is a good example. Here's hoping for Hellraiser six, although when I met Doug Bradley he told me not to hold my breath for number 5, but I think he needs to redeem himself after "Inferno". To me Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth was Heaven on Earth.

WOW, what an installment!!!!
Well in this slasher movie, it just make all 6 of the other installments look like rubbish (even though they are all good, but compared to this installment). Pinhead takes it to the street in this great horror classic. More gore, Good sex, and good action. i recomend that if you are a true slasher movie fan, go and buy or rent or just see the damn movie ok.

Embarassing Follow-up To Two Incredible Movies
I hate to be one of those people that gripes endlessly when a horror sequel changes things up and doesn't stick to the formula/rules that the original set-up, but this is ridiculous. Following up two mind-blowing and unique horror movies, "Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth" is limp on all accounts. In this installment, the film-makers opted to turn Pinhead into the star of the movie. These movies were never supposed to focus on Pinhead, rather, they revolved around ordinary people and how their decisions and lifestyles affect and destroy the lives of themselves and those around them. The story of Frank and Julia was compelling, because their severe selfishness and evil basically unleashed Hell on half a dozen innocent people. But I digress. Here, Pinhead is pushed into the spotlight and comes across as a Freddy Krueger clone. Obviously with the success of films like "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday The 13th" and their notorious villains, the people behind this flick had the mindset that they could do the same for Pinhead. Well folks, I have to say, it just did not work. For starters, Pinhead isn't funny, and shouldn't be funny. And don't even get me started on the mindless, droning speeches he would give throughout the film. Very frustrating and obnoxious to watch. And should I even bring up the CD spitting cenobite? The characters are way too cartoony and have no life in them. I didn't feel convinced or sympathic towards anyone. Whenever a plot-point would be presented that was supposed to enhance certain characters, it was never built upon correctly and was just presented very clumsily. A major slide from the first two flicks, which gave you colorful characters to love and hate as you wished. Another point that the movie fails on is it relies to heavily on gore. And I don't mind gore. I'm obsessed with horror movies, but gore is useless if it isn't accompained by suspense. Here, it just seems gratuitous and the effects themselves leave much to be desired. Towards the end, I started to fall asleep and didn't care too much to see how the movie ended up, the sign of a truly bad horror movie. "Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth" can be enjoyed on a somewhat superficial level. As a fan of slasher movies, I found this to be somewhat entertaining in bits, but overall, it's an utter failure. The DVD is pathetic. Special Edition? Hardly. There is not a single extra to be found on here. No trailer, no production notes, nothing. Pretty Good Film
While some are trashing this movie cuase its not your typical Dolph film, I'd tell you to rent it anyways--or buy it--like I did. Its not an action flick, so dont think you'll see Dolph with big guns. Its a mystery, so sit back and enjoy. The killer is pretty much known from the get-go, but its still a good film, and Dolph is getting so much better as an actor. Rent Masters of the Universe and then watch Jill The Ripper. You'll see an amazing difference. Kudos to Hickox and Dolph for a job well done.

It's as stupid as it sounds
This is one of those direct to video movies that you will pass over, and with good cause. This mess of a film is so stupid, sexually tame, kinky extreme, and plot pointless that it's a miracle it was even made. I'm sure the book it was based off of was ok but other than that you really must question why bother.

Dolph Lundergen plays a guy who returns to his home town because his wealthy brother has been murdered. His wife seems upset and the mother is devasted. the movie takes place in the 1970's so they try to have this old movie feel to it. Try again pal. This movie could of easily of have taken place in 1999 and you would have never known. Any ways Dolph wants to find the killer. So he tracks down some of his brother movements and after viewing this video of his bro in a kinky sex act he goes into the under ground sexual organization. Eventually he finds the killer but you will probably be asleep by then.

Don't waste your time.

Dolph Lundgren does have acting talent.
Dolph never was a good actor only Blackjack and The Punisher were his moments of good unless he played a villian. but with Jill The Ripper he is the only reason to see such a bizarre film. Lundgren and Brett have on screen chemistry.

Being a BIG fan of director Anthony Hickox, when I saw this movie was available on DVD, I immediately purchased it. However, gone is the trademark Hickox style, eschewing his past "Waxwork" style in favour of a more downbeat work. I secretly hoped it would move along like his movie "Payback", but no, it just ambles along from one scene to the next. However, Hickox's commentary is great. . . funny and sincere. Dolph Lundgren seems to be lost without a big gun or someone to hit, and one only wishes that Hickox would let him loose with a bazooka or something. The DVD is fine, with a crisp picture, and Hickoxs' direction is as stylish as ever. I hope that he will embrace the DVD format further, as I would like to see commentary's on all of his movies. Not bad at all
After reading the other reviews, had to write this. I enjoyed the movie, thought the acting was allright, and the story line was pretty good. Also liked Bruce Payne in it. Not a great movie, but worthwhile werewolf movie to watch

Good Idea, poor execution....
What can I say? I love werewolf movies. But this one bites. (No pun intended). Max Dire (more wolf pun names), is a down-on-his-luck police detective. With a series of tragic events threatening to overwhelm him, Max gets involved with a therapy group whose leader is a werewolf (the Howling anyone?)

At first intrigued by the group, Max soon learns that these officers mean business - they're injecting werewolf blood to fight crime.

Okay, if you're like me, you might think the plot of this movie sounds cool. Werewolves as 'good guys?' A horror/police action movie? Well, I think again. The movie has some decent special effects, but THAT'S ALL. The script is poorly handled, the dialog amateurish, and the acting like cardboard. If you want a good 'werewolf movie' see dog soldiers. Much better.

Different view on werewolves
It's always fun to see a different view on things. In this movie
we have werewolves in a special police task force. The acting is sometime cheesy,but, the storyline was interesting. If you are into werewolves put this one in your collection.

DVD is Unrated!
Forget what the box says, and what other people have said here, this is the 97 minute unrated version. This is not the first title put out by a company stating it was an R when in fact it was the unrated version, probably because they wanted to get past the chain store censors that won't carry anything harder than an R rating.

I love this movie, but not the DVD.
Full Eclipse is a fun flick that works both as a monster flick and a cop flick. A special team of cops are actualy half werewolves, made so by enjecting the blood of thier team leader who is a full blooded werewolf. Things seam to be going great with their new found super powers and senses, unaware that continuous use of the wolf blood may eventualy lead to some unwanted side effects.

If you like action movies and monster movies, you may want to check this one out. Beware, however, that the DVD version of this flick is the R rated version. You might want to shop around for the unrated VHS release or catch it in it's complete form when it pops up on HBO.

Decent plot, but very weak ending.
A comedy? Hardly. This movie has some very good action scenes and an engaging (if predictable) plot. Overall, the movie is entertaining, but somebody really missed the opportunity for a great ending. I won't blow it for you by describing how they missed it, but if you do watch this one you'll probably have the same perception -- something is missing at the end, but there's not enough missing to expect a sequel (not to say that they won't cobble one together).

A bizarre comedy, made watchable by Meyer and Assante.
This film isn't much of an action thriller, contrary to what the cover suggests. There's a lengthy shootout scene at the end, but most of the film is an excessive, violent, aiming-to-be-hip comedy which does draw some good laughs, but ultimately falls short of being a good film.

Dina Meyer all but owns the picture. She single-handedly drives the action, and she's clearly having a ball with the scheming, none-too-bright character. She also supplies the film with its best scene, the seductive cat-and-mouse at the police luncheon. It's precisely this spark that Angela Featherstone lacks -- playing the wounded housewife, Featherstone offers nothing we haven't seen before. A shame, because she'd started her career in an array of strange roles, most memorable being Dark Angel: The Ascent -- not the James Cameron TV show, but the Full Moon Pictures gore film. She's become a token actress with soft eyes and elvish haircut, offering no surprises or star quality. Armand Assante's role in the picture isn't all that large, frankly, but he does appear more confident than most of the other actors. Too bad he and Meyer don't really have scenes together; Meyer is a much better actor than Featherstone for Assante to play opposite.

There are some good sight gags -- the golf-club gag, the aforementioned police luncheon -- but some of that is negated by over-the-top violence. Director Anthony Hickox is at fault -- what did you expect from the director of Hellraiser III? As he deserves credit for the inventiveness of the comedic routines, so he deserves blame for the excessive gore-as-sight-gag scenes, which are never as funny as they think they are.

Worth a look, but not much more.

Supporting cast protects "Protection"
Federal protection is stylishly directed be Anthony (Hell Raiser)Hickox. Visions of early Tarantino are evident here, as comedy mixes with violence. Although Armand Assante is the big name draw on this video box, it is the supporting cast who steal the show.

Dina Meyer and David Lipper are simply the most interesting to watch, as they combine a sexy performance with great comedic timing. Assante is his usual solid self, staying with the familiar gangster role.

Watchable, but dopey...
Good ol' direct-to-video Dolph (Lundgren, that is), stars in this fanciful tale of conspiracy. His character, Major Jack Holloway (family-man and top secret stealth jet pilot), gets the blame when the new stealth jet he flies gets stolen from its secret base. The jet is just jam-packed with oodles of new stealth tech, and Dolph quickly goes on the square-jawed rampage to try and determine who stole the jet so he can clear his name. Along the way, he gets the help of his buddy Captain 'Sparks' Johnson, and a pair of FBI agents.

First off, this is not a movie that is in any danger of being nominated for an Oscar. That being said, there's actually a lot to like here, despite the Made-for-the-USA-Network feel of the production.

Yvonne Zima plays Holloway's stereotypical daughter-in-danger. Probably the best known cast member besides Lundgren, Zima played a regular character on "E.R.", Rachel Greene. She has also appeared in "Bed of Roses", and as another "daughter-in-danger" in "The Long Kiss Goodnight". She's really pretty good, and avoids the pitfalls of being the annoying, helpless kid that is the usual path for this kind of character in action movies.

As an arch nemesis, Robert Miano lends a degree of credibility to an otherwise direct-to-video offering. He has the proper weight as an actor to play a believable bad guy, and he serves admirably here. Proof that a good actor can overcome a weak script.

Mystro Clark is also pretty good as the ground controller buddy of Holloway, Captain "Sparks". Think of him as a sort of toned-down version of Chris Tucker (who himself is a sort of a toned-down Martain Lawrence). Playing both comedy and more serious moments seemed to come easily to him, and I hope he has more opportunities to both show and fine-tune his acting talents.

The best unknown of the bunch, however, has to be the lovely Kimberley Davies as half of an FBI duo of agents trying to crack the case of the mysterious anti-government conspiracy. Probably one of the most beautiful women in front of a camera today, Davies is better known for her work in the UK and Australia than she is here in the USA (hopefully this will change).

Besides the cast, I did like some of the location work, and the decent footage of what appeared to be a real stealth fighter. You won't see anything shatteringly awesome here, unless it is the shot from a camera bolted onto a van that gets blown up and flips end over end. Personally, however, I thought Airwolf could have taken out the fancy stealth plane with no problem.

Very bad film.
In fact it's even worst than that. Why on earth Dolph agreed to do this I'll never know. Maybe he just had some spare time. But he could have done something more worthwhile than this bore.

The story focuses on Jack Holloway who test flies a top secret plane (badly woven-in stock footage of a real plane that is not called Storm Catcher is used as well as footage from Under Siege 2) and is framed for stealing it and hiding it in a hut out in the desert. Or something. The way the story develops is VERY cliched although I never did see the "twist" coming so it kind of did succeed there.

There are a few redeeming features. Like Mystro Clark as "Sparks" and there are 2 oddball special agents who crop up every now and again but serve no real purpose other than to look like Hugo Weaving from The Matrix. I tell ya, the resembelence is uncanny. The woman who plays Holloways wife is badly miscast although his daughter is a rather good actress.

Director (and Hugo Weaving lookalike) Anthony Hickox insists on using handheld cameras in scenes that don't them and steadicam on scenes that do. I don't know what his method or technique of film-making is but it's plain bad.

The tagline for this dreck (Convicted of treason. Sentenced to death. One chance to set the record straight) is totally wrong too and gives you the impression that the story is going to build to a more satisfying climax. But it doesn't. Dolph is neither convicted nor is he sentenced so that is a huge lie.

Watch this movie on TV but do NOT rent it and do NOT buy it like I did. Save your money for Dolph's best movie...Joshua Tree.

The DVD is in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby 5.1 sound. Director Anthony Hickox's commentary is PRICELESS. He totally rips the film apart calling it all the worst names under the sun and admits how awful it is. He only made it to pay the bills apparently. Well, work is work huh?

PRETTY NICE
Solid action thriller with swedish action star Dolph Lundgren.
There something that would hace wanted more in this one but still worth a look.

An entertaining action movie
This movie has a good plot, fight scenes and decent flying effects. the wife is awful, but you dont see her that much so it isnt so bad. dolph is in his prime-with a good suspenseful soundtrack, this is thaeatrical stuff.

Dolph Lundgren- need I say more?
After reading the above review I had to put one in. Lundgren does not make the best films, but they are all entertaining. This movie is a classic plot, good military versus bad military in a fight for time in order to save his family and the President. 'There is no good, and no evil, only flesh. ...Shall we Begin'. The third movie in the Hellraiser series, has Clive Barker's evil 'Lament Configuration Puzzle Box' appearing as dark decoration hanging along side a Joe Coleman painting, at an underground punk / metal bar called 'The Boiler Room'. After a local punk kid is ripped apart by many hooked chains; taken to the hospital to later explode, a reporter is hot on the story.. She finds a goth girl named Terri, who trades information for a place to stay. It seems that Terri has stolen the pandora's box from the club, and later she releases Pinhead from the statue that he is encased in. Pinhead with his Cenobites are free to roam the Earth in a rampage. Each of the Cenobites are based on the single defining characteristic of the person that they had been in life. The reporters cameraman becomes "Camerahead". The DJ from the nightclub shoots CDs, for his weapon of choice, and the former bartender mixes deadly flaming drinks. After a vicious street battle and the destruction of a church, the reporter tricks Pinhead into entering her dream limbo, between heaven and hell. Once there Pinhead's former self 'Captain Elliot Spenser' helps the reporter send Pinhead back to hell. Even though this disc has four minutes cut from it [What kind of Special Edition is that??, they could have also included the Clive Barker documentary which was included on many of the original paramount VHS tapes], many choice scenes include a prostitute who has her skin ripped from her body, and a whole nightclub full of patrons being torn to bits. Better than part 2, not as good as the original. Metalheads should be on the lookout for a cameo from eighties thrashers Armored Saint. Motorhead also do the theme song, and have Hellraiser related merchandise collectors should be on the lookout for.

Hellraiser III on DVD Finally!
First, the DVD, it's not the greatest in the world, No Dolby 5.1 Surround, not letterboxed, but nice to complete the series on DVD at last. This is technically the unrated version of the film, 2 added minutes, which is mostly extended gore...Great stuff! There are NO extras either, oh well. It's available, I guess that's what counts and as originally a Paramount Pictures release I wouldn't look for a Collector's Edition any time soon. As for the movie itself, I loved it. With the introduction of new Cenobites, CD head the coolest of them all, gave us a fresh perspective of Pinhead's abilities to replace his former troup. Unfortunately they didn't give his new cohorts a lot time to explore. Pinhead does get more screen time (unlike Hellraiser Inferno) and finally Doug Bradley (not Doug Stewart as mentioned in another review) gets screen time without makeup, gives us a broader view of his backstory and how he became this monstrosity. ("Bloodline" gives us the Lament Configuration Box history). All in all a pretty good film except for some cheesy effects, the melding of Pinhead and Elliott at the end is a good example. Here's hoping for Hellraiser six, although when I met Doug Bradley he told me not to hold my breath for number 5, but I think he needs to redeem himself after "Inferno". To me Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth was Heaven on Earth.

My wife gets scared by horror films, she is a sensative person but this did'nt even remotely scare her.

WOW, what an installment!!!!
Well in this slasher movie, it just make all 6 of the other installments look like rubbish (even though they are all good, but compared to this installment). Pinhead takes it to the street in this great horror classic. More gore, Good sex, and good action. i recomend that if you are a true slasher movie fan, go and buy or rent or just see the damn movie ok.

Embarassing Follow-up To Two Incredible Movies
I hate to be one of those people that gripes endlessly when a horror sequel changes things up and doesn't stick to the formula/rules that the original set-up, but this is ridiculous. Following up two mind-blowing and unique horror movies, "Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth" is limp on all accounts. In this installment, the film-makers opted to turn Pinhead into the star of the movie. These movies were never supposed to focus on Pinhead, rather, they revolved around ordinary people and how their decisions and lifestyles affect and destroy the lives of themselves and those around them. The story of Frank and Julia was compelling, because their severe selfishness and evil basically unleashed Hell on half a dozen innocent people. But I digress. Here, Pinhead is pushed into the spotlight and comes across as a Freddy Krueger clone. Obviously with the success of films like "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday The 13th" and their notorious villains, the people behind this flick had the mindset that they could do the same for Pinhead. Well folks, I have to say, it just did not work. For starters, Pinhead isn't funny, and shouldn't be funny. And don't even get me started on the mindless, droning speeches he would give throughout the film. Very frustrating and obnoxious to watch. And should I even bring up the CD spitting cenobite? The characters are way too cartoony and have no life in them. I didn't feel convinced or sympathic towards anyone. Whenever a plot-point would be presented that was supposed to enhance certain characters, it was never built upon correctly and was just presented very clumsily. A major slide from the first two flicks, which gave you colorful characters to love and hate as you wished. Another point that the movie fails on is it relies to heavily on gore. And I don't mind gore. I'm obsessed with horror movies, but gore is useless if it isn't accompained by suspense. Here, it just seems gratuitous and the effects themselves leave much to be desired. Towards the end, I started to fall asleep and didn't care too much to see how the movie ended up, the sign of a truly bad horror movie. "Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth" can be enjoyed on a somewhat superficial level. As a fan of slasher movies, I found this to be somewhat entertaining in bits, but overall, it's an utter failure. The DVD is pathetic. Special Edition? Hardly. There is not a single extra to be found on here. No trailer, no production notes, nothing. The only thing "Special" about this "Edition" is that it is hard to track down -- my copy is a Canadian import. ... Read more
