4-0 out of 5 stars I Would Really Like to see it on DVD!!
I didn't read the Danielle Steele Book Changes but I saw this movie that is based on the book and liked it and I think Cheryl Ladd and handsome Michael Nouri were very good and I recommend this movie but I'm hoping it will be transferred to DVD! I'm also thinking of going to a used book store to look for the book so I can finally read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Mother From NJ
This movie had everything in it. Cheryl Ladd made me laugh and cry as a mother of 2 twin girls who meet and falls in love with gorgeous Michael Nouri who is a widower with 3 children. The doctor played by Nouri and thenewscaster played by Ladd were the typical couple in the end who had a hardtime bringing to families together and then adding in two more.(They hadtwins in the end)

1-0 out of 5 stars This is trash, pure and simple.
This movie was such a joke when I saw t. The child actors are annoying, and the plot looks like a bad episode of Surivor done by Disney. With no script and zero direction to go in.

3-0 out of 5 stars Passable live action Disney movie
Elliott Gould stars as an impecunious pilot who ,in order to stay one step ahead of two strong arm men anxious to collect his gambling debts ,reluctantly agrees to fly a cargo of animals to a remote Pacific island in the company of a nun ,Sister Bernadette (Genevieve Bujold). She has conceived the idea of importing the livestock as a way of converting the islanders to a farming existence .
Omens are not propitious-the plane is old and rickety ; Gould is unenthusiastic about animals;Gould and Bujold clash and two pre-teenage children stowaway on the plane .
The plane goes offcourse and Gould is forced to ditch on a remote island which -just to complicate matters -is occupied by two Japanese naval officers who have not heard that World War two is over ,and who attack the plane without success.
The bulk of the movie shows how the parties combine in an attempt to escape from the island and how the internal conflicts are resolved.
Nicely shot on location in Hawaii and with a strong performance from the underrated Bujold ,this watchable movie is acceptable family fare but would have been all the better for a livelier actor in the lead role .Gould lacks the lightness of touch that Disney regulars from this era like Garner or Dean Jones would have brought to proceedings.
Solid and watchable but second string Disney.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grab it while you can...
Pick up a copy for this movie if you can... This movie wasn't release on video from a long time ago. The sound and picture are very good and the story is a true family experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Family Viewing
A solid family movie with enough action to hold the entire familys interest. Outstanding photography with a good professional cast. Recommended for all film libraries.

4-0 out of 5 stars Disney at the height of its live action form
Elliott Gould gives another great performance as the world weary, hard drinking loner (ala 'Getting Straight', 'The Long Goodbye', 'MASH'), but similar to his other early eighties foray into Disney films 'The Devil and Max Devlin', his loner character is tested and softened through unexpected events. Geneviève Bujold also sticks to previous performances as the determined and sexy emissary of good ('Coma', 'Earthquake'). Both leads give a nice edge to this adventurous tale, made at a time when Disney was making some interestingly cast and original live action films like 'The Black Hole', 'Amy' and 'TRON'. Rick Schroder, in the prime of his childhood acting career, plays virtually the same character as he did in 'The Champ'. All of this cinematic pedigree adds a wonderfully entertaining element to a film that could have dived into the painfully mawkish. Complete with night shark attacks, stranded Japanese soldiers, orphans, an eclectic menagerie of animals (who ever sees a mallard duck in the same vicinity as one of those hump backed African ox), and a great South Pacific setting this film has something for everyone. A guaranteed good night with nods to the adults and thrills and adventure for the kids. Hearkens back to a not particularly distant past when Disney was making wholesome original films with a little edge.

As always Anchor Bay does a beautiful job in the DVD transfer, giving more time and respect to Disney's library than Disney does for its own films. As with all Anchor Bay DVDs, highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars First rate acting
Lee Marvin as Jekyl plays the embodiment of evil, unforgetable facial expresssions! However, in the sixties there was a TV film where Stacy Keach played Jekyl equally well, if not better.

We don't own a DVD player, this review refers to the original movie, seen back in the seventies.

5-0 out of 5 stars "So you wanted to meet Mr. Hyde eh?"
This 1968 atmospheric and chilling Dan Curtis (Dark Shadows fame) production, made for television, is without a doubt, the best version of the Stevenson story ever done. Jack Palance stars as the submissive, shy, Jekyll and presents an image of Hyde that you will never forget! Portrayed in a Satanic, violent manner, the appearance of Hyde is clever in make-up design. He is not portrayed as a monster but rather as an unabashed hedonistic barfly, somewhat agressive, comical and evil at the same time. Hooked on the excitements that the night can provide; He eventually becomes "addicted" to being Hyde, enjoying the power and rule over women that it brings him. He eventually comes close to criminal prosecution and reforms back to the quiet life that Jekyll provides. However, his associate in chemical research demands money after he discovers that Hyde is Jekyll and Jekyll is Hyde. This leads Jekyll to rely on the drug transformation once more (his leftover bottle) to kill his associate and in doing so, also signs his own death warrant (he is dependent on his associates process of a certain drug to be combined with his own) Seeking escape he contacts a friend of Jekyll and agrees to meet at Jekyll's classroom in the medical academy. This is where a truly monsterous confrontation takes place with police in pursuit and the end will put a scare into you! Palance deserved an emmy for this but was robbed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric Victorian Thriller!
This was the first version of the story I ever saw so I may be a bit biased. As a long time student of this genre and of this story in particular, I can say that while not the Stevenson novella verbatim, it is still much closer than other adaptations. Of particular note are the references to drug addiction of young people in Victorian London. Mr. Palance gives a bravura performance in the dual role. Is it my imagination or does the Mr. Hyde make-up created by Master Make-Up Artist Dick Smith resemble classic depictions of Satan or perhaps the Satyr? Dan Curtis assembled an excellent cast in a sterling production. The new DVD version offers enhanced picture and sound quality as well as various subtitles for your viewing enjoyment. You may consider this video/DVD a valued asset to your collection of this strange story of one man's facination with man's dual nature. Perhaps there is a bit of Edward Hyde in all of us!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Jack Palance is outstanding in this very chilling and engaging version of Jekyll and Hyde. I fully concur with the prior review posted on August 22, 1999. This is my favorite version of this Gothic classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gothic, atmospheric version
A chilling and atmospheric version. I wish it could have been taped on film rather than video, but that's a small matter. If you're looking for one of the best adaptations of the Jekyll and Hyde story, look no further than here. Jack Palance turns in a magnificent performance, capturing the meekness and nervousness of Jekyll, and then contrasting it with the energy and violent glee he invests in Mr. Hyde. Palance also does great in portraying the struggle between Jekyll and Hyde for dominance. He is also surrounded with Billie Whitelaw as a dancer Hyde seduces then abuses, named Gwen. She is terrific and sensual. Denholm Elliot also delivers a strong performance as Jekyll's friend. Much fog abounds and one gets the feeling of being in London at the time of Jack the Ripper. Also, worthy of note, is that Hyde is portrayed as charasmatic and devilishly handsome rather than hideous. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars BOOM BOOM
Former boxer Ray Mancini not only stars in this "Sopranos" like drama, but he also produced it, making sure I guess he got the starring role. At any rate, TURN OF FAITH solidifies the sad state our society has evolved to, in that we want to glamorize and sanitize gangsters.
Mancini plays Joey, one of three friends who grew up together; one of his friends is a priest and the other is a hitman for the local mafia. The plot revolves around the doings of Philly, overplayed but convincingly so, by the durable Charles Durning. He controls the union, and with an upcoming election, wants to make sure he continues to do so. The new union wannabe (played by Tom Atkins "Fog" "Halloween III") is ahead in the polls so it looks like Durning and his thugs have work to do. This includes taking on Joey's friend Bobby (played by a chunky Costas Mandylor) to do his dirty work. Mia Sara as Joey's wife and Alan Gelfant as priest Frankie, round out the cast.
All the usual cliches play themselves out; when Bobby kills Atkins and his henchman, the law is out for Bobby.
Here's where the SOPRANOS influence hits hard: Bobby has coldbloodedly killed two men, and yet, the audience is supposed to sympathize with him and write this off? The inevitable happens and Durning faces his three foes in a somewhat incredible climax.
So, why three stars? It's gripping, if derivative; and the acting is way above the level of its script. But, face it folks, bad guys are bad guys, and Hollywood needs to stop elevating them to sainthood.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Real Sleeper
Don't miss this one. If you like a good thriller and drama that leaves you satisfied this is the one. Well cast with Ray Mancini in the lead and Charles Durning in a terrific character role that's right up his alley. It was good to see Tom Atkins again whom I remembered from "The Fog". And of course there's Tony Sirico. If ever there was an actor born to be the heavy and tough guy it's Tony. Watch Mia Sara as Joey's wife; a surprise you won't expect. The plotline and dialogue are excellent. You won't have to think why this happrned or why this was said. It flows very smoothly. All in all, I recommend this film with pleasure. Don't miss it. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This was the most depressing movie I've ever seen!
I first saw this movie when I was about 40 years old. Thankfully, I was watching it alone because I cried so hard at the end. Whenever I tell someone about the movie, it was so SAD that I could start crying just explaining what the movie was about. It was really good until the end and the ending was so disturbing, I would never watch it again!

5-0 out of 5 stars a surprising little gem
Its odd how the most underated films can really surprise you. I saw this film for the first time recently, and I regret now not seeing it as a child, I had put off seeing it for such a long time. I did not expect to get too involved about the welfare of a few pit ponies; but honestly the film; inc story; performances and attention to detail are so well done that it almost has a timeless quality about it. Modest as it is; be warned the happy ending only comes with a rather surprising price unexpected for disney in the 70s. Rosemary Anne Sisson, wrote the screenplay also penned 'Ride a Wild Pony' for disney which came out around the same time; also recommended as a companion to this film, hopefully one day that film will be released as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great pit pony film
This film was filmed entirely in the forbidding Yorkshire moors. It tells the story about the small working ponies that have spent their entire lives down in the coal mines and are about to be sold to the slaughterhouse. Although many famous faces appear, the real star of the show must surely be Flash the pit pony. Wrinkles

4-0 out of 5 stars "Vintage" Disney Classic
This is the sort of quality family fare that will rarely, if ever, be made again. Produced in the mid 70's when 'The Waltons' was popular and America wasn't so afflicted with Attention Deficit Disorder, it earns its place as one of the best in Disney's period piece library. The cinematography is excellent with many colorful landscape panoramas and some choice episodes including a dog racing event in the Yorkshire countryside, visually interesting shots of old-fangled colliery machinery, worklife inside the coal mines, and an honest rendering of family life inside the village homes.

The characters of the story are all cast with competent actors, both child and adult. The films' action derives from the resourceful efforts of the kids to save the colliery ponies whose fate is a grim one in the face of production efficiencies soon to be installed by mine owner Alastair Sim-(played Scrooge in 'A Christmas Carol') The film has an innocent charm, although a little dated in both the period of history it covers and its storyline and humor. Even so its charm and quiet drama build to a surprisingly effective climax. There's a sense you've been treated to a unique glimpse of the past with a wide array of period detail providing rich realism. Anyone with patient appreciation for the concerns of children and an interest in the historic difficulties posed by economic/industrial evolution will find a gem in this film. Kids not addicted to video games may also find it enjoyable. Thanks Anchor Bay for a very good transfer to DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pit ponies
This movie was filmed in and around my 77 year old mother's home town of Doncaster, England. Her father was a miner until a mine collapse in the 30's left him permanently disabled. She saw this movie MANY years ago on TV & has been looking for a copy since. She and her sisters used to watch the ponies going down and coming out of the mines. It's a beautiful movie & brings back wonderful memories. ... Read more

Anthony Hopkins gives a subtle but searing performance as a lawyer who aspires to a political career but takes dangerous steps. Eager to escape the boredom of his marriage, John Strickland (Hopkins) first just flirts with the daughter of some friends. But when a social worker named Paula Gerard (Lise Hilboldt) approaches him for help with a case, she turns out to be not only young, pretty, and attracted to John, but is also the heiress to a large fortune. As the affair progresses, John discovers that both his wife and his mistress have secret sides--which come forth after a gruesome murder. A Married Man is slow but meticulous, and the breadth of psychological detail possible in a four-hour miniseries creates a vivid picture of marriage and adultery. Hopkins excels at the kind of stark inner conflict that burns with a cold but brilliant flame. --Bret Fetzer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent British murder mystery
I first saw this program about 15 years ago, have seen it several times since, and still regard it as one of my favorite mysteries. I believe this movie was made for British TV and it has the flavor of the PBS "Mystery" series offerings. It features a young Anthony Hopkins playing a upper middle class London barrister who is just approaching middle age, beginning to tire of his career -- and his wife. The wife is equally dissatisfied with her own life. The mystery proceeds from there. Very highly recommended for fans of British mysteries and detective programs (Prime Suspect, Touching Evil, Second Sight, Forgotten, etc.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Condorman is a great movie for everyone.
I first saw this movie when I was very young and loved it ever since. Every time I see it on the Disney Channel, I tell myself that if I ever found this movie I'd buy it. All of my friends have to put up with it at least once a year. It's always been my favorite. I think that Michael Crawford is a wonderful actor.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but not very good
I first saw this movie five years ago, as a preteen, with my father. We made jokes about what low-quality it was until I read a year ago that it stars Michael Crawford(Phantom of the Opera). It was still low quality (except the special effects, which are pretty good), but it is definitely worth it for Crawford fans. Crawford plays a cartoonist who, with an amazingly coincidental association with the CIA, acts out the exploits of his hero, Condorman. Not especially funny or thrilling, Condorman is a uniform mock-spy-thriller, with a good supporting cast but bad writing. Would probably be good for younger children (note the PG rating, though), and has gorgeous scenes in the Alps.

5-0 out of 5 stars This movie changed my life!
It was 1981... I was a poor, young man lost in a cloud of bong smoke, living in some cardboard box on the corner of 1st and Main. I was living a lie. A horrible lie, like that time I told mom that binky the bunny ran away... and then served the family "lamb". Anyway, all I had were comics, graphic novels, if you know what I mean... and my favorite character? The Thing from the fantastic four. Why? He was encased in a shell of stone... just like me. So there I am in my box... and I happen to find $3.25 in canadian pennies one day. Instead of buying a premium bottle of the happy juice, I saw the marquee and it sang CONDORMAN. I was on the edge of my seat with the opening credits. This man... was me. A dreamer who had shed the skin of ambiguity and embraced the true nature of the... ummm... dream. I had no wings. Condorman gave me wings. I love you, Condorman. Whenever you're in my part of town, be sure to stop by... mine's the box where the rabid coyote prince sings his tortured songs of yesteryear. Bring that lady, too... man... I mean... umm... man. And eat meat.

1-0 out of 5 stars Movie is 5 stars, but dvd is 1 star
I love this movie, and have been waiting for it to be released on dvd. Unfortunately, the dvd was not worth the wait. The dvd has no features whatsoever, not even subtitles. The main menu has two options, play movie and chapter selections. The sound and picture are no better than the video; the only benefits the dvd has over the video are that you can fast forward directly to a specific scene, and you have your choice of full screen and wide screen (double sided dvd). What's the point of making a dvd if it is as bad as this one? Very disappointing....
P.S. This is for the 1999 dvd version. I noticed that a new version was released in 2003. Hopefully that version is better.

3-0 out of 5 stars Up In The Sky...It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's...Condorman?
Yes, it's Condorman, vulture of the western world and superhero/spy extraordinare! Disguised as mild-mannered comic book writer/illustrator Woody Wilkins (Michael Crawford) by day, Condorman must fight a never ending battle to save the world from the ever growing forces of evil that threaten to engulf it, while at the same time trying desperately to protect his beautiful Russian spy girlfriend Natalia (Barbara Carrera) from the clutches of the villainous Krokov (Oliver Reed)!

Highlighted by a well above average cast and an exciting musical score composed by the one-and-only Henry Mancini, and loaded with tons of adventure, action and excitement..."Condorman" is certainly a very fun movie to watch and is one that can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter how young or old they may be! ...

Highlighted by a well above average cast and an exciting musical score composed by the one-and-only Henry Mancini, and loaded with tons of adventure, action and excitement..."Condorman" is certainly a very fun movie to watch and is one that can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter how young or old they may be! ...
