5-0 out of 5 stars The best TF show since Gen 1
I'm not going to bother with giving you a break down of the episodes, since you're looking at this you should know what they are. But rather my flat out opinion of this DVD set.
Beast Wars was a show that like a fine wine, got better with age.
The first season was more for the kids, where this season really got back to the roots of the Transformers for us older fans, and the stories are great. One thing I noticed about Beast Wars was the fact it was not as toy driven as G1, you were introduced to new characters (toys) for the sake of storyline only, not have 10 characters all of a sudden crammed into an episode. Beast Wars stayed primarely with it's starting characters, developing great personalities for each one, you actually cared for these guys. The "Code of a Hero" episode for example.
The voice acting also is top notch, great talent used for this show.
The animation is far much better than the first season and gets even better in the third, my favorite of the three.
It's great to see this series uncut, Fox Kids butchered some episodes, and that definitly ruined the impact of some stories.
My only complaint is the lack of special features on the disc, but that's a small price to pay to finally get one of the best CG series out on DVD. Hurry up Rhino. The fans await season 3.
And I want to give Amazon.com a big "Hooah!!!" for delivering my order and some much needed entertainment to us troops serving in Kuwait & Iraq.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great 2nd season
The second season of Beast Wars saw the introduction of Trans-Metals. Some first season 'bots saw a Trans-metal transformation, while others died off, only to be replaced with new 'bots.

Episodes included are:
27) Aftermath: The alien machine is destroyed and Optimus went up with it, but the explosion sets off a quantum surge that changes the planet - and several of the robots. In his new, more powerful transmetal body, Megatron hopes to take out the Maximals before they have a chance to regroup and recover.

28) Coming of the Fuzors (1): Two new Maximals awake in Predacon territory, both with bizarre looks and unusual personalities due to the damaged systems in their stasispods. Taking advantage of their confusion, Megatron convinces them they are Predacons, hoping to finally crush the Maximals with these reinforcements. Meanwhile, Blackarachnia returns to the Predacon base with Tarantulas' body, Tigatron and Airrazor go of looking for more stasispods, Rhinox shuts down and connects to the Axalon in an attempt at reaching Optimus' spark, and Dinobot realizes that the aborted armageddon has left the planet looking awfully familiar.

29) Coming of the Fuzors (2): Hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned, Rattrap, Cheetor and Dinobot try to keep the Predacons away from the Axalon where Rhinox lies delving deep into the Matrix, pursuing a faint hope...

30) Tangled Web: Megatron sends out Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Quickstrike to build an energon refueling station, though the spiders' scheming complicates even the simplest task.

31) Maximal, No More: Dinobot is captured while on a recognizance mission, and surprisingly asks Megatron for permission to rejoin the Predacons, offering the golden disk as proof of his sincerity.

32) Other Visits (1): While out surveying the planet, Airrazor and Tigatron trigger a remaining alien site. While the Maximals scramble to their rescue, Tarantulas is already on his way, determined to thwart the aliens' plans.

33) Other Visits (2): Surviving the energon surge thanks to their new transmetal bodies, Tarantulas sets up a shield around the alien construct and heads inside along with Megatron and Quckstrike. Outside, Optimus and Rattrap try to figure a way in, while the two other transmetalized Maximals return the wounded Rhinox and Dinobot the CR chambers

34) Bad Spark: Cheetor discovers a huge stasis pod, containing Protoform X - a failed Maximal experiment that created an indestructible spark but drove it insane in the process. When Predacons arrive, a fight breaks out over it, setting off an energon storm that leaves Blackarachnia and Silverbolt together damaged, having to fend for themselves - While Protoform X awakens, looking for a victim...

35) Code of Hero: Rhinox discovers that the Trans-Warp wave will soon reach Cybertron, meaning that a rescue may at long last be at hand. Megatron also learns of this, and decides that he will not surrender. Instead, Megatron uses the Golden Disk to destroy key details of the past that would severely alter the future. Meanwhile, Dinobot is still searching for a way to reclaim his lost honor. He gets the chance upon finding out Megatron's new target for destruction: The early human race.

36) Transmutate: A series of earthquakes uncovers a heavily damaged stasispod. Out of it comes a freakish robot - barely sentient, but with extremely powerful weapons. Scoffed at by the others, both Silverbolt and Rampage sense a kindred spirit, each in their own way.

37) The Agenda (1): As the transwarp wave generated by the explosion in "Other Voices (2)" nears Cybertron, the Maximals rejoice, thinking the rescue is on its way. But unbeknownst to them, it is intercepted and diverted by the leaders of the Cybertronian Predacon alliance, who view Megatron as a loose cannon and wants to deal with him quietly, by sending one of their covert operatives.

38) The Agenda (2): Megatron is captured, but the battle used up too much of the cruiser's energon supply for there to be enough for the travel back to Cybertron. While Ravage interrogates Megatron about where they might find more, Primal confronts Silverbolt about his relationship Blackarachnia, leading the Fuzor to go off on his own to find her.

39) The Agenda (3): The Maximals manage to take out the transwarp cruiser and fend of the Predacon attack. But the battle is far from over, as Megatron heads for the now uncovered Autobot Ark - containing the heroes and villains who'll shape the Cybertron where the Predacons and Maximals come from.

5-0 out of 5 stars This was the greatest show of my childhood
As a younger man, I loved this show, and I have both seasons on DVD, but where is Season 3? I will be extremely upset if there is no Season 3 DVD released soon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bring on the Beast Wars!
When I first heard of the Beast Wars series, I was skeptical. So skeptical in fact, that I did not watch it on TV. A few months ago, I purchased both Season 1 and Season 2, and I have been roped. The characters have depth and personality and the story line, especially in the 2nd season, is quite addictive, especially with the Tie-ins to Gen 1. In Season 2, they get far more into the history of the Maximals and the Predacons, which brings us back to the Great War between the Autobots (Maximals Ancestors) and the Decepticons (Predacons Ancestors). I don't want to blow the ending, but it is a seat grabber. For those who are TF Gen 1 fans, lets just say that the planet is revealed to be Earth, 4 million years ago. Anyone remember what happened 4 million years ago with a ship and a volcano?

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this NOW
Beast Wars was my favorite cartoon show from 5-10th grade...I'd get up every morning @ 6:30am to watch this! And I had crappy reception at the time, so getting the BEST season of the show in perfect DVD quality is beyond amazing. If you like great plots and characters for kids AND adults, please buy this ASAP!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars ReBoot lives on ! ! ! ! !
ReBoot is probably one of the best pioneering computer CGI shows ever made. Season four was very edgy with its content as was Season three, but pushing the envelope is what makes a show better.

Four stars you wonder? I think the DVD could have been better. An interview or special feature with the actors / actresses as they worked on ReBoot. Now that would have been quality. Now Mainframe (the company that is) needs to finish off where "My Two Bobs" ends. We have to see what happens at the end of the hunt. Will Megabyte actually win?? We'll just have to wait...

4-0 out of 5 stars A Bang and a Whimper
"This is the way the world ends," penned poet T.S. Eliot, "not with a bang but a whimper." The wonderful series that was ReBoot ends with both: the bang of the two full-length movies on this DVD, and the whimper from Frisket and ReBoot's gazillion fans. Why four stars? Five because it's ReBoot, and three because this DVD should be better than it is (averaging four stars). It looks like ReBoot has been listening to its critics, and that's a bad thing. After parodying every TV, movie and social situation, ReBoot is in danger of becoming a parody of itself.

As we all know, season three was "edgier" than seasons one and two and formed a continuous story. But after reading my ReBoot Guide, a fan e-mailed me asking how to get the first two seasons. Why? He felt the third season was too "edgy" but wanted his kid to see how great ReBoot was (when it ran on ABC). V4.0 (this stands for "version 4.0" but Amazon calls it "volume 4," confusing it with the fourth DVD of the third season) is "edgier" than the third season, as if someone has been reading bad graphic novels and got their puns from the ash can outside Comedy Central. Former ReBoot producer, Chris Brough, is not listed in the credits: perhaps his was the restraining hand that kept back such excesses. When it first appeared, ReBoot was widely hailed as fresh and new, and had nothing to prove. This ReBoot tries to prove it anyway, and it tries too hard. Oddly enough, ReBoot could still please everyone. Run these movies on Cartoon Network's Toonami or Adult Swim blocks, rerun the first two seasons on the teen or evening slots, and bring out the first two seasons on DVD. Critics au contraire, ReBoot has always had something most other CGI series don't--soul. It's always been about Dot, Bob, Enzo, and (whimper)--oh yeah--Frisket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Show Ever!!!!
I highly recommended this dvd to any fan or fan of CGI shows. Despite the minor audio problem which is being fixed by Anchor Bay this show is so inivitive and unique it's still a great buy. I recieved official word saying that the company will recieve a new batch of correct dvd's in the middle of june, this problem is being fixed. So while i would recommended you wait for the new copies this is definatly a show that has everything, comedy, action, adventure, drama! Hopefully we will see the rest of the season released in the near future, hopefully by the same company in nice box sets!

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!
There is an audio problem with the dvds, but i have recieved official word form Anchor Bay saying a new batch of correct dvd's will be arriving in the middle of june. This problem is being fixed. I still give this dvd a five simply because the show is so inivative and unique. The quality of the picture and the sound are supurb, the only audio problem is with the voices which are lower than they should be. But it really is'nt all that noticable and as this problem is being fixed i strongly recommened this dvd! I really hope Anchor Bay release the rest of the series on dvd!

1-0 out of 5 stars Low-Tone Voices
I'm not sure is it just my DVD or the whole production, but my DVD surround sound have very deep voices for the characters of the movie. Ex. Throughout the movie I realize that BOB/DOT/FONG etc. have unusual deeper voices compared to what CartoonNetwork shows. It's like somebody had turn down the key tone making all the characters have deeper voices.
I was happy and excited that the Series 4 finally came out but I'm very very... disappointed with the key tone of the movie. ... Read more

ReBoot was the first computer animated network series, and these episodes from its third season (1994) reveal how quickly computer visual effectshas advanced. The designs look decidedly passé, and the motion-captureanimation is limited and uneven. Enzo, the hero of ReBoot, is anadolescent guardian-in-training, fighting to protect the cyberworld from theevil virus Megabyte. Enzo's older sister, Dot Matrix, serves as commander of thedefense forces; they both miss Bob, the hunky Guardian who disappeared at the end of the second season. Enzo's duties involve assuming roles in different games with AndrAIa, the obligatory spunky girl. The scenarios include heavy-handed send-ups of Pixar films, Warner Bros. cartoons, and the stained-glass knight in Young Sherlock Holmes. The filmmakers try to infuse these sci-fi adventures with the appeal of anime, but the timing and direction aren't strong enough to generate that level of excitement. ReBoot is more interesting as an example of early computer visual effectsthan as entertainment for modern kids. Although it is rated "suitable for allages," violence, including suggestions of torture, grotesque imagery, and ethnicstereotypes, are inappropriate for children under 10. 5-0 out of 5 stars A must own for Reboot and Mainframe CGI fans!
WOW! This is a stellar disc! You've never seen Reboot until you see it with the crystal clarity of DVD. The colors, the details never looked so amazing! Even if you've seen it on TV, Reboot is definately one DVD to own. Lots of neat little extras like animation tests and concept drawings make this disc a must buy. I only wish it had closed captioning. Check out the trailer section for a preview of War Planets/Shadow Raiders coming soon to DVD too! The only bad news about this series is that another company hold the rights to seasons 1 & 2, so we may never see the entire Reboot series on DVD. I hope other Mainframe series like Weird-Oh's, Beast Wars and Beast Machines soon follow! My fingers are crossed!

5-0 out of 5 stars The First and the Best
CGI series ever on television. Compelling characters, great stories and breathtaking animation make ReBoot one of the finest shows ever to grace tv. These DVDs are must-own items for any fan of animation, certainly for any fan of ReBoot. I only wish seasons 1, 2 and 4 would also come out on DVD. And should the stars align correctly, maybe even a fifth season! Let's hope. We all know the adventure continues...

If you did a little research you would find out the the 4 Vols sold on amazon are vol 1-4 of seasonIII. It is one complete season. not random episodes from different seasons. I too would gladly like to see all the seasons. But come on WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FOR about 20 bucks A WHOLE SEASON GET REAL USE YOUR BRAIN THINK. Most series that sell as whole season sell for well over 50 bucks!
Your review is incorrect and made me do research before i decided to buy. Please find all the facts before posting incorrect reviews!

Now onto the review!
Reboot is great! These 4 vols of season III are wonderful we could only hope that the first 2 seasons come out sometime in the future! Season IV is slated for later this year!

3-0 out of 5 stars I Want Season One
I am a HUGE Reboot fan. It was a landbreaking series in digital animation. The characters were all well developed and the stories were well written. I was sad to see it get canceled and only recently learned that it had gone on to cable t.v. So I jumped at the chance to buy the entire series. I was so excited! I am sooooo disappointed that Volume One is NOT Season One. It is difficult for me to share it with others, as they have no background. Some of it is hard for me to understand too, since Bob was alive and kicking when I last saw the show.

For all the fans of this awesome series -- I ask the producers to please release Seasons 1 & 2, so our collections will be complete. This is animation history.

5-0 out of 5 stars ReBoot for life!
The editor of this review is clearly an angry old man with no appreciation for a fun, exciting cartoon. These take place at the beginning of season three, after the web has invaded mainframe. The James Bond-style of the Firewall opening is great, as is the episode itself. "Game Over" is the definately one of the best pre-net episodes in the series. The only thing that upsets me is that there is no "volume 0" with the episodes for season one ("Opening Sequence", "Racing the Clock", "Medusa Bug", "The TIFF", and "Talent Night") or season two ("Infected", "Painted Windows", "AndrAI", "Nullzilla", "Gigabyte", "Trust No One", and "Web World Wars"). However, this DVD gets my thumbs up! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Warm
I found this film engaging and uplifting. One of those films that makes you think about the essential things in life in a healthy and inspiring way.

4-0 out of 5 stars From A Bowie Fan Perspective......
If you are seeing this film for ANY other reason than David Bowie, you may want to run and not just walk away, NOW. However, Bowie's performance lights up this film, and considering all of the less than well-chosen works of the cinema under his belt, this film is sweet and very under-rated....in a sentimental kind-of way. However, this film has a definate message, one that has resounded in other Bowie works (music and film), as well as from Bowie himself. Everyone makes a difference - it's what you do in life that counts, not how long you live. Take if from me, this film isn't as bad as people would want you to beleive!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Secret we could All Learn from.
Mr. Rice's Secret is a wonderful opportuitity to explore the
imporantance each of us represents in Life. No matter how long
or short your life is; it's what you do while your here that
counts. How you treat others and what you believe in. I liked
the moral this story left me with. Be true to yourself and each
other.Rejoice in every moment you have been given.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bowie is the only real star here, has good message for kids.
So your search for anything Bowie has finally led you here. The story seems like a resurrected after school special with silly adventures and dialogue that just doesn't exist for kids. But then David (Mr. Rice) starts speaking... and things don't seem so bad. Uh, then again. A 400 year old man you would think wouldn't require kids to let's say, exhume a corpse! There is a message to the movie, very predictable, but this movie doesn't get past it's simpleton plot. And for you diehard Bowie fans, you'll love how he and his voice take over. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this DVD
Poor story line and just plain bad acting. The only one with any sense in the movie is the horse and he wasn't on camera most of the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Adventures of the Black Stallion
This is not the orignal Black Stallion movie, but the series called the Adventures of the Black Stallion that aired back on the Family Channel back in the early 90's. The show was unfortunatly cancelled when the Family Channel was purchased by another TV company. It stars Mickey Rooney reprising his role from the movie and Richard Cox playing Alec Ramsay. It's 90 minutes long and in it, The Black is entered in the French race Prix de Chantilly, and Alec's friend Nicole (Marianne Filali) returns home to see her sick mother, while Alec and Henry deal with crooked gamblers and bad businessmen who try to fix the race. If you loved the Adventures of the Black Stallion, this DVD is for you!

1-0 out of 5 stars The Black Stallion
This is not THE Black Stallion ( the original movie ), but a cable series and nowhere on your info is that stated. I think you should be more detailed in your description. I ordered 2; one to keep and one to send to a friend. I'm glad I didn't have it shipped directly to her. ... Read more

The 1996 American update of the 1985 Japanese Transformers series is based on a computer game and a line of toys from Hasbro. Like Voltron: The Third Dimension (1998), which it resembles, Beast Wars reveals just how quickly computer graphics evolved. The weightless characters move in simple, repeated cycles and never come in contact with the ground when they walk or run. The pseudo-Valley Dude dialogue ("Cool your circuits!") and the way the filmmakers trot out every toy in every episode (to remind potential buyers of their existence) recall the bad old days of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Fans of video games and/or toys will enjoy the screaming battles between familiar characters in their organic and robotic forms; others will quickly weary of the repetitive story and over-the-top vocal performances. 5-0 out of 5 stars Better than G1 Transformers
P>I must say as per my original review, that Beast Wars is what it says, a War. In Beast Wars you get the feeling that these robots actually do hate one another. You can see it in the fight sequences. You actually get them beating the utter stuffing out of one another. Something you didn't see with the original G1 Transformers. It's so obvious that Beast Wars was written with the original G1 Transformer audience in mind. That original audience is now in our mid-to-late 20's. So now we're grown up, but we want to see a more mature Transformers. One were Transformers actually get damaged and die due to battle. This sort of visual is now more possible due to the CGI graphics. It's pretty easy to break apart a 3D model and add damage marks on it.

But what draws me to this series is that it does have some sort of continuity to it and that the show evolves from season to season. In the first season, most of the Transformers have a very organic look to their beast modes, but however in Seasons 2 & 3 they evolve into Transmetals and they show a whole new appearance and deadliness.

Now in being fair and balanced with regards to the G1 Transformer series, I admit that I haven't seen one of those old episodes since, well...back in the '80s, so I've pretty much forgotten the joy of that series. But with saying that, one thing about Beast Wars it does pay homage to the original series by involving the original Autobot Ark and a surviving Decepticon, Ravage, and I believe the "spark" from Starscream. These two latest Transformer series, RID and Armada are nothing but Pokemon versions of our beloved old school shows. In fact, in Armada, the biggest plot is to "catch all the Minicons" as in "gotta catch'em all".

But anyway, I give this disc 5 stars, 4 for the episodes and 1 for the extras. The extras include 3D tests for a good portion of the robots and is quite interesting to see some earlier proto-types. The episodes, although good, I thought that the first volume actually had the better line-up of episodes thus far. But if I'm not mistaken, the next two discs should have some really good episodes on them. And then of course, the following Season 2 and 3 discs are really good.

Oh, just one more thing. The audio and visual quality are oustanding. 5.1 Dolby Digital and the Mainframe Entertainment CGI graphics on a Flatscreen or better TV look absolutley amazing. Beast Wars has't looked or sounded any better than this.

5-0 out of 5 stars More episodes of a great CG series
Beast Wars is, in my opinion, the greatest CG cartoon ever created for a children's audiance without making the audiance feel childish. These episodes are much greater than the last volume and are some of the best episodes in season 1.

Fallen Comrades (A): The first Maximal stasus pod reaches the planets surface and now its a race to the pod for a new ally. I like this episode because it brings the first new character to the show and also has some good action throughout the episode.

Double Jeopardy (B+): After the Predicons claim one of the staus pods and convert the Maximal into a Predicon, the Maximals suspect Ratrap of being a Predicon spy. When he's sent out on a solo mission, he is captured by Terrasaur and Terrasaur uses his new accomplishments to take full command of the Predicons. This isn't a bad episode, but this process does get repeated a couple of times so it loses it's originality over time in the series.

The Probe (B): A communication probe from Cybertron comes into orbit over the planet. The Maximals must now risk setting up a sattelite in Predicon territory in order to contact Cybertron. But Megatron has other plans. Meanwhile, Tarancalious tests out his new invention that prevents the Maximals from transforming.

Gorilla Warefare (A): While out on patrol, Optimus is hit by one of Scorponocs cyberbees carrying a deadly virus that will terminate Optimus if the anti-virus is not injected into him soon. I liked this episode a lot because Optimus goes berserk and storms the Predicon's base.

A Better Mousetrap (B+): The Predicons are trying to use a new device that will let them enter into the Maximal's base. However, while still unaware of this threat, the Maximals setup a new security system. The system, however, goes insane when Ratrap and Dinobot break the controls. Now, the new system recognizes the Maximals as intruders so Ratrap takes on the job of shutting it down.

Victory (A-): When tensions rise at the Predicon's base, it causes an Energon explosion. The Maximals, who now beleive the Predicons have lost the Beast Wars, salvage the parts they need to get their ship up and running to Cybertron. Dinobot decides to stay behind, but discovers something that causes a race for time to get on the ship.

As if the episodes weren't good enough, there are actually some extras on this disc. The disc features a size comparison chart, spaceship CGI test and 360 degree 3-D test of almost all the transformers in the Beast Wars series. Inluding some from seasons 2 and 3.

Overall, Rhino did a great job with bringing Beast Wars to DVD and I look forward to the release of more episodes coming soon.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEAST WARS IS THE BEST
I STARTED WATCHING THIS T.V. SERIES WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. NOW THAT THEY HAVE IT ON DVD I COULD WATCH IT WHENEVER. THIS DVD CONTAINS ONE OF MY FAVORITE EPISODE,FALLEN COMRADES. FALLEN COMRADES IS ABOUT A STASIS POD THAT IS CARRYING A MAXIMAL PROTOFORM (KNOWN AS TIGERTRON IN THE SERIES)THE MAXIMAL'S AND PREDACONS RACE TO GET IT. Future techies in search of screen-popping adventures souped up with the latest cyber lingo need look no farther than ReBoot: Season III, Vol. 2, (a series that airs on the Cartoon Network), which finds the formatless Matrix and AndrAIa along with their virtual pup, Frisket, fighting their way through a gamut of games, all of which have been infected by evil. The goal of the hard-bodied and green-tinged yet still good-looking pair, known among the folds of funny-looking creatures who inhabit the games as guardians, or good guys, whose job it is to "mend and defend," goes beyond superheroics. Mostly, they're interested in hopping a ride onto the Internet, where they can navigate their way back to their long lost home, Mainframe. In this endeavor, they're consistently stymied, but not much else stumps them, at least not for long. In episode 1 of this four-part tape, Icons, something suspicious is sucking the life out of a nearly defenseless system; Matrix assembles an army of R2-D2-like recruits and heads off to Chron the Destroyer where, after a successful reboot, he's able to help make repairs. From there, in Where No Sprite Has Gone Before, Number 7, and The Episode with No Name, the pair defies deletion through crash-threatening tears, identity altering reboots, superviruses, and hostage situations. Whether they'll ever make it back to Mainframe is anybody's guess, but boys and girls 8 and up whose hard drives occupy a special place in their hearts will have an "alphanumeric" time waiting to find out. --Tammy La Gorce ... The third season of this computer-animated series stumbles to a conclusion in these last four episodes. Despite the numerous writing credits, each episode juxtaposes long stretches of filler, where nothing really happens, with periods of frenzied but difficult-to-follow action. In "Showdown" archvillain Megabyte, who sounds like George Sanders as Shere Kahn in Disney's The Jungle Book, prepares to escape in a reddish sphere after a duel with Enzo. Mouse does something on a keyboard that causes tentacles to sprout from the sphere and destroy Megabyte. What she does and how she does it is never explained, and her preemptive strike prevents Enzo from destroying the villain, as a hero should. Simulations of Megabyte pop up in the next episode, while Bob struggles to save the cybercity, only to vanish inexplicably. The first all-computer-animated television series, Reboot inadvertently showcases the limits of the technology. The motion-capture technique gives the characters an unsettling weightless look, which robs their fights and gymnastics flips of any power. The elaborate surface patterns, brightly colored special effects, and three-dimensional camera moves can't disguise the fact that motion capture is still inferior to limited drawn animation. Rated "suitable for all ages," but violence (including suggestions of torture), grotesque imagery, and ethnic stereotypes are inappropriate for children under 10. The show played in an edited form on the Cartoon Network. --Charles Solomon ... Read more

Enzo Matrix, who has grown up to be a sullen, muscular hero, continues to search for Bob, his Defender friend and hero. He's accompanied by Andraia, now a curvaceous babe in a revealing costume. They take up with Capitain Capacitator, a.k.a. Crimson Binome, a pirate of the "aargh, matey" school; his motley crew; and "web surfer" Ray Tracer, whom Matrix regards as a potential rival. As they journey through cyber-dimensions, Andraia receives a life-threatening bite from a "web creature," then Capacitator's ship, the Saucy Mare, is attacked by a host of strange-looking "Web Riders," whose leader turns out to be Bob. After reviving Andraia, Bob heads the ship back to continue the war against the evil Megabyte. The animation lacks any sense of weight--a problem with motion-capture computer graphics: despite all the elaborate visual patterns, tracking shots, and reflections, the characters move like marionettes. There are also numerous story problems: e.g. when the Saucy Mare is attacked by "pixels," the Web Riders and Tracer defeat them with some sort of light beams that are never explained. The first computer-animated network series, Reboot has its fans (thanks in part to the show's exposure on the Cartoon Network), who are the obvious audience for this disc. Contains these episodes: 9. "The Return of the Crimson Binome," 10. "Edge of Beyond," 11. "Web Riders on the Storm/Interface," 12. "Mousetrap." Rated "suitable for all ages," but violence and grotesque imagery are inappropriate for children under 8. --Charles Solomon ... Read more
