To Be Continued
I am a big Star Trek fan and I enjoyed the idea of going back to where it all began, 150 years from now but also 150 years before the original with Capt. Kirk and crew.The problem I have is the continuing story line that started at the end of season 2.There are too many shows on TV where you have to have seen the previous show to know what's going on.It works for Deadwood and Desparate Housewives, but not for Enterprise.They tried to fix this in season 4 where they were like a series of mini series, but I much prefer stand alone episodes.I have some life and don't have time to keep up with all the shows that are now using this soap opera format.To be fair to this second season most of the shows are stand alone but ends with a major cliff hanger.Season 3 is one very long episode.

Well written, acted, and filmed - just one thing wrong...
As a long time fan of the Star Trek franchise, I tend to be among the more lenient fans as far as where the writers and producers take the stories.I suppose this is what to expect from a fan who was drawn in by Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed Enterprise as a series on it's own, but it is very obvious that there are differing views on where the fans wanted the series to go as opposed to the writers.

I understand the producers desire to explore new ideas (Temporal Cold War, Xindi) but we Trek fans are nitpickers, and there were so many good opportunities to "fill in the gaps" created by the other four series.What caused the various conflicts with the Klingons and the Romulans?How was Section 31 started?And season four left me wanting for more about the early development of the Federation.

There were some very notable episodes this season, particularly Carbon Creek, Horizon, and Bounty.Minefield makes you want for more of the origins of the Starfleet-Romulan conflict, and Dead Stop seems to foreshadow the Borg storylines better than Regeneration, as I feel it was unnecessary to actually have the Borg in Enterprise at all.

The ultimate shame is that the last season was the one that the fans wanted, and was actually so good that I was anxiously awaiting the next episode after watching each weeks' story.It might be nice to see an occasional made for TV movie with this cast, maybe with a creative idea for a Romulan war (hint, hint.)

I will say, though, if you are only willing to invest in a single season, wait for the fourth one.It's truly worth it.

The Worst of the Four Seasons
If in season one "Star Trek:Enterprise" lurched to its feet like an amnesiac zombie formerly known as "Star Trek:Voyager," it just resigned itself to keeling right back over by season two.Retread plots, inconsistent characterizations, and a thumb to the nose regarding continuity with the original series were just some of the offenses that helped drive millions of viewers away.Most of the blame rests with the producers, who seemingly saw fit to endorse these obvious shenanigans, and the writers, who took a paint-by-numbers approach to plot and dialogue. Scott Bakula, despite a fine turn in "Quantum Leap," continues to register "zero" in the charisma department; it's amazing that William Shatner is so often lampooned for his staccato and swagger in later episodes of the original series when Bakula, with his herky-jerky, angry-for-no-reason approach to Jonathan Archer, is just as affected in his acting style--he's simply not remotely as effective.The rest of the cast is fine.In fact, Connor Trinneer, Jolene Blalock, and John Billingsley easily could have carried the show without Bakula, even if the producers and writers insisted on propping up his bland character as someone of significance while making the others look like sycophantic observers.Too bad the U.S. ethnic minorities on the show generally get less attention than the guest aliens of the week or the many cumbersome and jargony phrases that no real person would utter, like "polarize the hull plating." However, many episodes of season two are blessed with topnotch special effects, so there are pretty pictures to look at, even if the pacing and music that accompany them are usually as directionless as space itself.

By season three, "Star Trek:Enterprise" started to show signs of life, even if it had turned into a soap-operatic serial involving a "Star Wars"-ish race to stop a planet-killing weapon.The best season easily is its last--save for the high-school-quality "Daedalus" and the insultingly awful "These Are the Voyages."Cheers to Manny Coto for a valiant effort at breathing life back into a series so determined to commit dramatic suicide.Too bad he wasn't around from the beginning, when it would really have mattered.

Enterprise crosses intoSeason two
The second season dealt with the completion of the Shockwave cliffhanger. Unfortunately the show really took a turn for the worse viewer-wise as many trek fans abandoned the show. I liked the idea of the temporal cold war but it was indeed a bit ambiguous and confused fans. Not enough appearances by the Andorians or Tellarites in season 2-two races that helped form the UFP. This show had so much potential and by the end of this season, with an exciting episode "The Expanse" ,we see a Xindi story-arc that would take us through all of season 3.

In all honesty the seeds of failure were planted in the second season with some truly weak episodes, despite that the idea of this show remained bright, it was only the poor writing that drove off viewers. Cannon violations and lack of addressing important pre-federation issues was obvious.

But I still loved ENTERPRISE...after all it was in its infancy as a series.

Reboot or parallel timeline?
With the second season, ENT continued to anger many long-time fans as Archer and his crew tangled with the Borg, the Ferengi and the Romulans long before TOS and TNG did. The back door excuse that continuity was maintained was that the crew never learned of their names (though the Borg issue remains very muddled). Brannon Braga -who was asked by a fan to explain the Borg episode Regeneration - seemed to confirm that this Trek was a complete Reboot of the franchise or a Star Trek that occurs in an alternate universe. There is something called Many Worlds, a parallel time theory that contends that most historical occurrences, such as the signing of Magna Carta and what not, did happen only that principles might have been slightly different.And that essentially, since Star Trek: First Contact, the entire franchise now exists in this parallel timeline.Essentially, what happens is the Borg and TNG Enterprise journeys into the past and changes history. Here, then, reality splits into two versions -one road depicting the changed history, and the other road is were the original reality exists before the change.In the end, it is the only way to explain the Borg episode and Star Trek: Enterprise. Had Braga and Berman basically thought this out, maybe I could've forgiven them for the drivel they put out for three seasons until Paramount and UPN let Manny Coto take over the last season (which has been the best since DS9). I'm sad to say that Trek really ended with DS9. All others, have just been pale imitations.

Sort of a greatest hits of "Avonlea" from seasons one & two
"Tales from Avonlea: Beginnings" is a mixed bag, with the good news being that you can get the eight of the first sixteen episodes from the first and second seasons of the beloved series (I got the Disney channel just to watch it), but nothing else in this stripped down DVD. Based on characters featured in "The Story Girl," which was author Lucy Maud Montgomery's favorite novel, and its sequel "The Golden Road," the series also adapted tales from two collections of short stories known as the "Chronicles of Avonlea." The eight episodes provided are:

Episode 1.1, "The Journey Begins" tells how young Sara Stanley (Sarah Polley) is shipped off to her late mother's relatives on Prince Edward Island when When her father is threatened with financial ruin. Sara arrives in Avonlea with her Nanny Louisa is tow, only to meet up with the formidable King family, headed by the imperious Aunt Hetty (Jackie Burroughs), who also happens to be the local school teacher.

Episode 1.6, "The Proof of the Pudding" finds Felicity in charge of her siblings when Alec and Janet go to Charlottetown to celebrate their anniversary. Sarah is added to the mix when Aunt Hetty goes to visit the Governor's office to prevent an over-zealous lawyer from denying the King's water rights to the local pond. Actually it is sawdust that ends up in the pudding and the woman who shows up at the King's farm is not the tone deaf Great Aunt Eliza but Agnes Leslie, the wife of the Governor.

Episode 1.3, "Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's" is one of the best adaptations of a Montgomery short story. Mrs. Rachel Lynde (Patricia Hamilton) is put in charge of the boy's Sunday School class and when she finds the young boy who work's Alexander Abraham's farm has gone truant, she heads out to save the boy's soul. However, everybody involved is in for a big shock when they all end up in Abraham's home only to discover he has been quarantined because of the small pox.

Episode 1.4, "The Materializing of Duncan McTavish," begins when Sara asks Marilla Cuthbert (Colleen Dewhurst) "Did you ever have a beau?" Having endured a lifetime of slurs because she never did, Marilla defiantly declares "I had one once" and weaves a fantasy about her beau Duncan (because it is her favorite name) and McTavish (because she sees an advertisement for McTavish Porous Plasters). Of course, who should arrive in town but Duncan McTavish himself and Sara Stanley knows Fate has brought the two former lovers together again.

Episode 1.11, "The Witch of Avonlea" is about Peg Bowen (Susan Cox), who lives in the woods smoking her pipe and doing whatever she wants with no concern for what the good folks of Avonlea think or say. When Felix King (Zachary Bennett) finds himself unable to spell anything during the class spelling bees because he is so afraid of Aunt Hetty, his nightmares convince him she might be a witch. So he goes off to visit Peg, who gives him a "magic" stone to give him confidence

Episode 1.13, "Nothing Endures but Change," finds that Blair Stanley, Sara's father, has been acquitted of the scandalous embezzlement charges that forced him to send his daughter to live with her mother's relatives on Prince Edward Island. Blair arrives in Avonlea ready to take Sara back to Montreal, at which point everyone of Sara's King relatives absolutely freaks, especially Aunt Hetty, who announces she will not give the child up to her father. Sara wants to say goodbye to all her friends and attend the upcoming skating party she has been looking forward to, but her father wants to get out of Avonlea and as far away from Hetty as quickly as possible. Sara cannot abide the thought that two of the people she loves most in the world cannot even talk to each other civilly, and so she hatches up a plan to force their reconciliation.

Episode 2.2, "How Kissing Was Discovered" begins Great Aunt Eliza (the real one) coming for a visit and turning the King household upside down. Meanwhile, Alec discovers that playing cricket is not as easy it was when he was a younger man and Felicity has her eye on a young cricket player on the visiting team. After all, she is now all grown up and has decided it is time to receive her "first kiss." However, Sarah and Felix have made a new friend in Gus Pike (Michael Mahonen), a young sailor recently arrived in Avonlea and looking for work. Alec lets Gus stay in his barn and while Felicity will not give the boy the time of day, it is clear that he finds her rather interesting.

Episode 2.3, "Aunt Hetty's Ordeal" begins the pivotal relationship between Gus Pike and Hetty King begins. Given how Hetty treats Sara, Olivia and everybody else in the extended King family, you have to worry about poor, uneducated Gus. The problem is that everybody in Avonlea knows to take Hetty King with a grain or salt. But Gus thinks everything Aunt Hetty says is carved on stone tablets and when Hetty makes a heated offhand remark to the young man it has significant repercussions. Gus had been a minor character in previous episodes, and "Aunt Hetty's Ordeal" is where he starts becoming more important to the show in general (and Felicity King in particular). This is also the point where Hetty King, who tended to be a bit insufferable for my money, started to thaw, because the big difference between Gus and Sara, is that Gus is not family and Hetty ends up opening her heart to him.

Granted, these are probably the better half of those first sixteen episodes. But the legion of fans for "Avonlea" would be better served by having each season available on DVD and they may well hold out for that then pick this up.

Complete seasons found!
For all of those who would like to see complete seasons of Avonlea, I have found them! Released through Sullivan Entertainment, you can go to www.sullivanboutique.com and purchase the first three complete seasons of Road to Avonlea on dvd. Not only are all of the episodes included, there are also bonus features, such as bios and behind the scenes. I have also found these dvds on ebay, where you might be able to purchase them for less. Hope this has been helpful!

good, but not what I was expecting
This is a wonderful DVD whether you grew up with this show as I did or its your first exposure to the wonderful series. However, I bought this thinking it was the complete first season - for those of you who are familiar with the series, please be aware that it is not. This dvd contains 8 episodes - 6 from season 1 and 2 from season 2, and the episodes are not in direct sequence. However, I still very highly recommend this dvd as the complete seasons are difficult to find and very expensive.

Full Season Sets (Season 1 and 2) are Available
After opening up the box, I was so disappointed to find that only eight episodes were listed on the back. I don't what I had been thinking, but had been under the flase impression that I had ordered a complete season set.

However, if you go to amazon.ca (Canada) you will find much more to choose from on this wonderful series!

Quality of DVD leaves much to be desired...
I was thrilled to find out the television series "Avonlea" had finally be released on DVD in the United States. I was very disappointed to discover that Disney was the one releasing it, however, and not Sullivan Entertainment. Instead of the complete first season on DVD, only eight episodes from the series are available. Disney really ought to reconsider bringing out a complete first season set of the series. I, for one, wouldn't mind spending a little more money to have ALL of the episodes instead of just eight. Another thing I was very disappointed with was the quality of the DVDs themselves. The disc art is great, but the menus on the disc are absolutely horrible. No care was taken into putting them together at all. All-in-all, I'm glad to have at least some form of Avonlea on DVD, but Disney should've taken more care with such a splendid series. Let's hope they fix this if they plan on having future releases of the series. Major fans of the show really ought to consider buying the show on DVD from Sullivan Entertainment's web site. They offer all the episodes from the first three seasons in three sets, complete and uncut. Yes, it's a lot pricier, but at least you get the whole package. If I had the money right now, that's definitely the version of "Avonlea" that I would be purchasing... ... Read more

No sci-fi show can be without a trial episode accusing someone of past crimes. "Forced Perspective" sees Dylan accused of a 300-year-old war atrocity and having to argue thecase from very peculiar perspectives. This episode feels like filler, but the viewer ought to pick up on two important aspects of the show happening on the periphery. What'sgoing on between Tyr and Beka? Even more importantly, what's going on with Trance? An interesting reversal of roles is presented to Dylan when an organized group of machines offer for him to join their Consensus of Parts. Neither is fully willing to join the other,however, and so "The Sum of Its Parts" turns out to be less than either hoped for. This episode was another cowritten by a noted science fiction author, and Steven Barnesinjects some welcome introspection into the proceeding story arc. "Fear and Loathing in the Milky Way" is experienced by all following the return of the Eureka Maru's original commissioning lowlife, Gerentex ("Under the Night"). Trance's deftsleight of hand helps at the casino tables, while Harper's wisecracking front finally slips to reveal a man capable of action in a tight spot. We also learn exactly how Bekapractices Valentineology. At long last we learn Rev's full name (Reverend Behemiel) and get a fuller explanation of his Wayist belief. "The Devil Take the Hindmost" reveals Jesus to be one of the reveredSaints, too. Not so good
This show is a pale imitation of other sci fi shows. The episodes in this volume are probably some of the better ones. Of course, that's not saying much. It's a shame that this show continues while good sci fi shows,i.e. Farscape,are cancelled.

Be prepared for disappointment.
The Andromeda DVDs have been somewhat of a disappointment to me, this one, 1.4 more so then the other. The episodes themselves are in wonderful quality and are the main reason I bought the DVD.

However the limited number of episodes on each disk is appalling. And the extras on it, doesn't even come close to making up for the lack of them. The bloopers were short, and were mostly of Kevin Sorbo. The behind the scenes of the alien makeup seemed promising, however was less then five minutes. And then there was the fact that I could never find the commentary for "Fear & Loathing in the Milky Way."

So my advice to you is, if you are truly an Andromeda fan, then this is something for you. But be prepared for disappointment. ... Read more

Based on an idea by Gene Roddenberry, Andromeda wears its debt to Star Trek on its sleeve, recalling the best SF of Roddenberry's heyday. Kevin (ex-Hercules) Sorbo plays Captain Dylan Hunt, the sympathetically flawed idealist in command of the Andromeda Ascendant, a massive 1.4-kilometer-long starship of the now-disbanded Systems Commonwealth. The fall of civilization has meant that although it ought to be a relic, it remains the zenith of technological advancement.

Episodes on this collection: "The Pearls That Were His Eyes," "The Mathematics of Tears," "Music of a Distant Drum," and "Harper 2.0."

"The Pearls That Were His Eyes" was one of the first conceived episode ideas but was delayed until the availability of a Star Trek regular. That eventually turned out to be John (Q) de Lancie, who gives a brilliant turn as Beka's long-lost Uncle Sid. She really ought to have learned by now that no one is out for completely altruistic goals. An indication of how rotten the galaxy has become is that it can now take three years for junk mail to reach you.

Finding another High Guard ship with a crew looking as it did 300 years ago seems like an awful big coincidence. In "The Mathematics of Tears," Dylan works to stay focused on the enigma at hand. Unfortunately, high-ranking officer Jill Pierce keeps distracting him with red herrings and all manner of feminine wiles. Did they really stay young from the aftereffects of an experimental weapon? Or is there a far more tragic secret to be revealed?

When the show focuses purely on Tyr, we can always be sure of certain eventualities. There will be glistening displays of muscle, questioned loyalties, and some sort of humbled reconciliation with Dylan. In "Music of a Distant Drum," his erratic behavior is influenced by a sounds that take him to the planet Midden and a family of fishmongers. The episode gets to look at the character from the inside out due to a complete memory loss.

Never, never, never pick up a floating life pod. When will characters in SF learn this? The dire result of doing so this time is an impressive "Harper 2.0." Gordon Woolvett hasn't had many opportunities to shine thus far. But here we see him talking in multiple languages and contrasting his general surfer wisecracking with sharp intellect and a mean streak. Andromeda give it a chance
I have a lot of friends into Scifi but for some reason they don't like Andromeda. I tell them give it a chance as even though its can be really campy at times, it can be real good television as well.

Andromeda 1.3 we start to see the crew really starting to work together on the screen. What makes this show work is how comfortable all the actors are with each other.

Each TV series has some shows that are not great. Seinfeld might be expection, but "Music Of a Distant Drum" the first show on the second disc was plain boring. Tyr character didn't get much development in this episode. The lady who takes him in is just plain awful, and her son is no better.

This disc does have 2 GREAT [5] star shows. One "The Mathmatics Of Tears" has simply one of the best action scenes of any Scifi TV show I have seen in awhile. What I love about series TV is the little hints here and there. We all know Becca Valentine has the hots for Dylan and when Dylan is being courted so to speak by a HOT Highguard from the past Becca gives those jealous looks.

Haper 2.0 is simply one termendous. Its was nice to see Harper get a chance to shine. The moment when he goes off on Rev Bem (My personal favorite character) is very emotional. Here they lay the foundation of a main heavy of sorts which the series needed. What Andromeda needs is one anti force that is always causing them trouble every other episode.

I highly recommend this series. The pilot is not great, but once you get passed that it really starts to come into its own as a series and you will start to truly care about these characters. I am already into the Trance-Harper love storyline. Hopefully a bone with be thrown in there later in the series.

More Please
I really like Andromeda and the series is great. The contents are good, but for 2 discs worth of material they only had 4 episodes on them. They need to put at least 6 episodes to a volume if they aren't going to put that much extra material on them. Either that or lower the price of the vol.

Whoo-Eee!
I love this show. I love the campy bits, I love the character conflicts, I love the obvious bits and the ocasional subtle humor. As a show it never takes itself seriously, but the actors are pros and do it right. It's got lots of sci-fi cliches, and it pokes constant fun at trek and hercules. The costumes are awful (motorcycle helmet anyone?) ... but the CGI is intense, the design is beautiful, and the whole thing is seamless. There are lots of extras on these DVD's (bloopers, etc) and the quality is terrific.

Not as good as the first two....
For those who haven't seen Andromeda, it's a great science fiction tv show. These episodes are some of the stronger ones in the first season. I won't comment on them too much since the manufacturer's synopsis is pretty accurate. However, these episodes are all heavily character driven with some focus on the crew members instead of Captain Hunt. The final episode in the set begins a subplot that will mature into an epic storyline. Unfortunately, later seasons would forego these types of complex plots.

This is a solid but unspectacular dvd set. Like the first two sets, these episodes are shown in widescreen format. The picture is free of any grain or image wash. For a tv show, the picure is absolutely crystal clear. The sound is full, although sometimes the background music overwhelms the dialogue. I've found that I have to turn the volume down when watching action sequences. The sound seems to be mastered for a theater presentation rather than a living room. This is not necessarily a negative, since the effects are full and resonate at all levels.

The disappointment in this set is that there are only four episodes. The first two sets had five episodes. Additionally, the extras are not as impressive as the first two sets. Unlike the first two sets, there is no commentary for any of the episodes. While there is a nice image gallery, the bloopers and outtakes only comprise a couple of minutes of footage. The intro to the bloopers ran longer than the actual bloopers and repeated itself twice.

The bottom line is that while the episodes are presented well, the extras and overall content of this set were disappointing. This is especially true when compared with the first two sets. Still a solid set and I would recommend it if you are a fan of the show.

Some of the Best Andromeda Episodes!
Finally, some of the best Andromeda episodes come out on DVD! "Pearls" features some great interactions between Beka and Trance, as well as the always-good John DeLancie as Uncle Sid. "Mathematics of Tears" has THE best fight scene in all of Season 1. No spoilers, but the entire thing is choreographed to an aria from "The Flying Dutchman" by Wagner. "Distant Drum" sets the stage for Tyr's big secret which will be crucial later. Not that great of an episode, but anything that features Tyr is all right by me. "Harper 2.0" is a romp, but shows us the serious side of the normally light-hearted engineer. Harper winds up gaining all of the knowledge of the universe, but someone is after it. Things never go well when the Andromeda Ascendant takes on passengers. When Dylan agrees to transport the bride of an arranged wedding, "The Honey Offering" tastes bad from the outset. Kimberly Huie gives a memorable acid-tongued performance as the lady in question. The real clue that things were doomed ought to have been Tyr's reservations over the two rival Nietzschean prides genuinely wanting to heal their breach.

"Star-Crossed" is the season 1 episode that caused more gossip than any other. Stargate regular Michael Shanks guest stars, falls in love with Rommie onscreen (and with Lexa Doig offscreen), and then suddenly quits SG-1. There's certainly a spark between them in the show to support the gossip. The secondary cause for talk was its broadcast rescheduling in sympathy with the events of September 11 since it opens with a terrorist attack.

Sci-fi show producers realize that if they have an ongoing franchise on their hands, one of the contemporary issues to inevitably crop up is drug addiction. Here it's Beka who loses control of her addiction to a substance called Flash in "It Makes a Lovely Light." Behind this surface narrative is a continued search for Dylan's long-lost home. The point ultimately becomes that he'd rather safeguard his crew than his memories.

Criticized in some places for its extreme violence, the season finale "Its Hour Come 'Round at Last" will stay with you one way or another. Maybe for the sight of an alternate Rommie turning uncharacteristically nasty on everyone and seriously kicking butt. Or maybe the mind-blowing Magog Worldship, made up of 20 planets and their sun. Very solid set that ties pieces together well
I like every episode on this volume, my favorite is a tie between the Flash Episode and the final episoade of the first season. I thought that in the first season the show hit full stride about half way through and contiued on. Star crossed lovers is pretty good also, seeing the more human side to the Rommie character was well done. All things considered, very nicely done and if you like sci fi then you should like the volume. The picture is great, the extras are fine, the menus are very good and the plot can be follwed. However if you have not seen the show before, I would get the first and last volumes of season one so you understand the situation. 90210 Dvd Debut!
So many petitions on the web have been crying out for 90210 to be released on DVD. Well its finally happened but not to the large scale everyone was hoping. Still one dvd release is better than nothing.

If enough people buy this DVD, then companies will take notice and begin to develop the Seasons everyone so dearly craves, converting them onto DVD for enjoyment.

This DVD is brilliant featuring the original pilot in its best form yet. The picture and sound have never been so finely tuned for a 90210 episode from season 1 which were always medicore in quality... UNTIL NOW!!!

You have the FULL cast featuring in this 90 minute pilot with the only exception being Luke Perry who plays Dylan. He is introduced in the second episode which follows the pilot. I can only hope that Season 1 will be released soon so we can all witness his big introduction into the show.

It's taken ages for this show to be released, dont follow the companies example and hesitate into whether you really want to purchase 90210 on DVD. JUST DO IT!

90210 FANS COME TOGETHER!~
First of all, it is NOT action packed, full of extra's and contains original music, like we'd all like. BUT THE POINT IS....... THEY HAVE PUT A 90210 product on DVD!!!! The more that are purchased may enhance our chances of ever seeing the entire series on DVD. I know a huge reason they havem't made the series on dvd yet is because all the music in all the episodes, and that would cause liscensing problems. If you are a TRUE 90210 fan, you will buy this simply to support any chance of them releasing the series in our lifetime. And I'm sure when they do, those box sets will include extras and fun stuff, but this is JUST the pilot episode, so you already know what you're gonna get, (if you've already seen the pilot.) One more note, on the cover of my now most favorite dvd, did anyone else notice they super-imposed Doug Emerson's head over top Luke Perry's body? Simply because "Dylan" isn't in the pilot, and "Scott" is. Sigh..... (Luke was HOOOOTTTTT!~ )Anyways, buy the dvd if you want to start your 90210 dvd collection, because I have faith in the powers that be that they WILL evetally put the series out. And when they do I'll buy every single season. WORD.

One day in the near future...COULD WE PLEASE get 90210....all 10 seasons on DVD. I know a ton that would purchase them. They are a collectors. I grew up with this show. The last of the old Andromeda
Not the end of the series but the end of the series as envisioned by Robert Hewitt Wolfe. The show had great potential and was living up to it, but Tribune wanted to go in a different direction. The first two seasons showed how closely it was tied in thought to the last three seasons of ST DS9 (RHW also wrote/produced for them). Character and idea development gave way to fantasy and lowering the intellectual standard. I still enjoy the show, but clearly season 4 and the upcoming season 5 are like another show.

319 - Illusion of Majesty. In this episode, the crew ends up in a garbage dump star system and cannot get out. A woman who poses as a princess and a priestess as a scam promises to get them out. Much innuendo later, Dylan outwits everyone to get out. Not a great episode.

320 - Twilight of the Idols. Excellent episode. In this one we find Dylan's old mentor and Admiral still alive after 300 years in the form of Michael Ironside's character. Finally a person who can out maneuvre Dylan. This is like a classic Andromeda with good conflict and tension and a moral delimma that is left unresolved.

321 - Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath. Another good episode. An old adversary, the founder of the Restorians, and a former commonwealth ship AI comes back to take over another ship in the new commonwealth. But before that, he takes over Andromeda's avatar and leaves everyone questioning. This show was filled with emotional tension and was quite good. It helps that in real life Shanks and Doeg are married.

322 - Shadows Cast By A Final Salute. Bittersweet episode. Very good one but sad as it sent the show into a whole different universe from how it was created. Tyr finally makes his move and promises to deliver the Andromeda to the Drago Kazov. But, really, he has his own agenda: the annhilation of the Drago Kazov home planet. Keith Hamilton Cobb leaves the series in style and Andromeda never quite recovered.

319 - Illusion of Majesty - Dylan and the crew take a wrong turn ending up in the Prolon System where they discover a princess who is not what she appears to be.
320 - Twilight of the Idols - Dylan and the crew set out to find a colony that disappeared. We discover the surprising story behind the Genites and their creator - an old friend of Dylan's from before the fall - a person who is still alive.
321 - Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath - Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1's Daniel Jackson) reprises his role as the Balance of Judgement's AI. He forces Rommie to steal a new High Guard vessel and forces Harper to build a new avatar. Includes a battle between the Balance of Judgement Avatar and the Resolution of Hector's Avatar (played by Christopher Judge - SG-1's Teal'c). In another part of the story, Tyr begins his move to take unite the Prides under his banner (third SG-1 crossover, the actor who played the Tokra Martoof plays a Drago Kasov field marshall. One of my favorite episodes as I am also an SG-1 fan and the SG-1 actors play very different roles from what we are used to seeing.

Kevin Sorbo (ex-Hercules) plays Captain Dylan Hunt, the sympathetically flawed idealist in command of the Andromeda Ascendant, a massive 1.4-kilometer-long starship of the now-disbanded Systems Commonwealth. The fall of civilization has meant that although it ought to be a relic it remains the zenith of technological advancement. Episodes 6 to 10 make up this collection.

"Angel Dark, Demon Bright": Time travel is always a sci-fi series staple, but Andromeda needs it more than any of them. Any method (excuse!) to revisit Dylan's own time is explored, and "Angel Dark, Demon Bright" is therefore an important episode for two reasons. We see just how badly the Commonwealth had it coming in an enormous space battle; and we also perceive how potentially dangerous Trance is. Pruning the branches of time as easily as her plants, she's clearly a conundrum waiting to explode.

"The Ties That Blind": The title is a dual reference to aspects of faith. On the one hand there's Rev's devout following of the Way, which unwittingly obscures certain truths from him; on the other hand there's the belief that blood is thicker than water, which severely confuses the relationship Beka has with her long-lost con-artist brother Rafe (Cameron Daddo). There's a lot of art imitating life in this episode, with the Restorian's tactics clearly mirroring contemporary religious conflicts.

"The Banks of the Lethe": Proving that all's fair in love and war, this episode demonstrates the familial possibilities of syndicated TV. Firstly, Sorbo's real-life wife plays Dylan's fiancée, Sara. Secondly, the story was originally touted to Star Trek: Voyager. It's another time-travel quickie (told you they were important), in which a touching reunion for the Sorbos is made possible thanks to a botched experiment in Harper's lab. This installment is also distinguished for featuring some of the most surreal humor in dealing with time travel since Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

"A Rose in the Ashes": Sometimes diplomacy just doesn't work. On the planet Arazia, Dylan implores the government to join his Commonwealth. Deemed traitors for suggesting it, he and Rommie's "living doll" incarnation are sent to a harsh prison planet. This was the first show to utilize exterior locations, which makes for a welcome change. The same is also true about seeing Lexa Doig in a leather-studded bikini top and disco pants.

"All Neptune's Great Oceans": Macbeth is paraphrased in the title of this spotlight episode for Tyr. The endlessly surly muscle man is accused of assassinating a visiting president. A Great DVD!
"Andromeda Season 1, Vol.2" is a great DVD. Besides the fact Andromeda is great show. The DVD is loaded with a lot extra features including: Bloopers,Commentary,Character profiles, and episodes in wide-screen. These DVD are great value for any fan of the show or someone just discovering it.

An excellent DVD
Andromeda, as a series, has hit it's high point and has been running down since the second season. However, the first season remains FANTASTIC. With Robert Hewitt Wolfe writing the series, and the phenomenal acting of the cast, you can expect great lines delivered with a lot of cool and style. Notably, Keith Hamilton Cobb as the [tough guy] of the Universe and Lexa Doig doing triple duty in every episode as the ship, hologram, and computer, all of which she manages to imbue with their own personality. I single them out for excellency, but the entire cast is good in this show. I recommend buying the DVDs right up to season 2 episode 12, which was the last one featuring Wolfe as head writer, and the beginning of the show's downturn.

The commentary could be better, with (I believe) Alan Eastman boring us with show facts that are blatantly obvious to anyone who's watched - But Kevin Sorbo pipes up when he's allowed to, and actually has some good stories to tell. His antics in the gag reel are by themselves enough reason to buy this DVD :-P

Great Series
I normally do not go out of my way to follow television series too often, but a few do stand out and deserve attention. This is definately one of them. I enjoyed the acting of Kevin Sorbo and Keith Hamilton Cobb. This combined with the storyline, which is a little better than quite a few out there, make this a very enjoyable series to watch.

"I 've never seen an Angel Before!"
Angel Dark, Demon Bright is a climatic episode in the Andromeda series. It involves Harper's Fusion catalyst, which will stun you with its effects as well as some great poetic lines from Rev and Tyr. It is by far one of the best episodes in this DVD Volume. In this Volume you also get 2 other great episodes, "The Ties That Blinds" which includes Beka Valentines brother and "The Banks of the Lethe" where Dylan reunites with his wife Sarah 303 years ago. This series in my opinion is better than the first because now the show is picking up and almost at the current level of excitement! growing on me like a tumor
I never took the Andromeda series very seriously, even though I'm an avid Trek fan. Watching one every now and then but not being very entertained. Getting over the captain is not easy for most people and it's what turned me off to the show as well. It was this disk that made me take a second look at the series as a whole.

"Tunnel At The End Of The Light" is a slight rip-off of Predator, but hardly a bad one. And by the end, it's taken in a very original direction. If you can get over Sorbo and be entertained by a decent "space-show", Andromeda may be for you. Harper gives excellent comic relief and Rommie is just friggin sexy. The stories are not bad once you give them a chance, and for the most part, original. Graphics are fantastic, even if they are re-used and altered from time to time. ... Read more

OVERCHARGE - Shame on you guys!!!!
I would have purchased the entire series except that someone is overcharging. $60+ plus for Season 1 was too high, but I was willing to pay.

WILL NOT buy any more of this series. Fun series, but someone's ripping off the buyers.

Beware of Packaging is an understatement
I certainly agree with Elk Grove Village. I'm still trying to figure out what to order. As a fan, couldn't they just sell the entire season like they do with the Star Trek series? I got a whole season of Star Trek (26 episodes) for $100 and only 22 episodes of Andromeda for about $180 and I didn't buy any duplicates. Let's just make it simple, Okay? And maybe drop the price some, Huh?

The best continues!!!
I have seen all these episodes and they are great. My fav is "The Widening Gyre", because it shows a much darker side to the show and to Rev Bem (aka Redplague). I also like "Pitiless as the Sun" because it shows that Trance and her species are much more dangerous than they seem. I also like this episode because it was broadcast on my birthday. The two regrets I have are as follows: "The March of the High Guard" theme composed by Alex Lifeson is no longer in use for the show and also that so many of the cool extras are gone (Examples: the timeline of the commonwealth and all systems university 101). All in all though, this is a great show and I'm a huge sci-fi fan so I'll will definetly buy this DVD, and if you like sci-fi you should too. You won't regret it.

Very nicely done
Okay any fan of sci fi should like the set, fans of Andromeda will love it. I thought every episode here was well done, a few were semi fillers but with a story this huge that is bound to happen. Good acting, nice extras, better look than the original sets just too name a few. I reccomend this one to any sci fi fan.

Still classic Andromeda
There is no letoff in Season 2 of Andromeda. The characters by now are much more well known, but we still see the formula of a central character of the crew being featured.

Great DVD set for a good show.
When Andromeda started I was really sceptical.
I didn't like Kevin Sorbo much, the SFX weren't that great and some of scripts were pretty weak.
But I kept watching and during the first season I started to like the show for one big reason: likable characters.
While I'm still not a big fan of Mr. Sorbo, the other other actors are really great and the writing has (apart from a few episodes at the end of season two) improved.
And of course there's Lexa Doig to look at - which is a really big plus. :-)
While it's still far away from the consistent genius that Farscape shows each week, Andromeda is one of the better TV shows at the moment and this DVD set is really great: picture and sound are good, the commentary is very interesting and the other extras are great too - except for the bloopers. I hope that on the next sets we get some bloopers that feature some of the other actors and not only Kevin Sorbo.

Surprisingly good
Since the main character is from "Hercules", I had my doubts. I picked it up anyway, because Gene Roddenberry's name is on it. I am glad I did.

The show does have some weakness- 1. Special effects are always interesting, but look fake sometimes 2. The premise seems to be a little bit shaky: why would those crew decided to join the idealist Captain? They are obviously not the noble type.

Despite those two flaws, it's still worth watching. The concept is original (in the sense that the variation of classical theme done well), the story is good (I think "double helix", the last episode of Vol 1. is the best so far), acting is adequate. In sum, the series has a promising start. It's certainly not Farscape or Star Trek, but you'll enjoy Andromeda if you like this type of sci-fi shows.

A great beginning
The two hour premiere is one of the best episodes of the Andromeda series. It takes off quick, and even allows for some characterization, which many series seem to miss. Though, as soon as the premiere ends, the series seems as if it is going to be a failure. The third episode, "To Looses the Faithful Lightning," is a ridiculous episode to be put at the beginning of the series. But do know, that episode three isn't at all like the rest of the episodes. Four and five are descent episodes, and they both help illuminate the character of Tyr, the Nietzschean of the crew. If your unsure of the series, be sure to start here, at the beginning.

Very enjoyable!
Great charracters, great set up & premise, fantastic acting and sets. This is a show that I think Gene would have been proud of. Great job to Majel and everyone else involved!

Great series but the interviews?
I am really enjoying what I've seen so far. I now have the first two vols. and I'm really getting into it.

The only problem I'm having is that every interview I've tried to watch within the "extras" section appears to not work. It plays for 20-30 secs and the abruptly stops and repeats from the beginning over and over like records use to do sometimes when they'd skip. :( I purchased the first 2 vols. at one time and this occurs on all interviews on both vols. Any suggestions? hehe

Too pricey for 4 eps
No one should go broke to buy an entire series on DVD. Even a $10 drop in the price would make thus a more appealing purchase --especially since the local Blockbusters will almost certainly sell previously viewed copies of this series in about 3 months (as they did with S1)

4 great episodes and a fair amount of extras
Season 2 of Andromeda is a great season, some fillers, but very good for the most part. This box set should appeal to the Andromeda fan, it is four very good episodes and the usual amount of nice amount of extras. Now for some clarification, the listing of episodes on Amazon is not right, I have already sent a e-mail out to them about it. This volume contains 4 episodes, much like the second and later volumes of the first season. The Episodes are "All to Human", "Una Salus Victus", "Home Fires" and "Into the Labyrinth"

All four of these episodes are great by themsleves, however "All to Human" and "Una Salus Victus" are my favorites on the set. In the first Rommie is kicking some serious tail and taking the names, shows a lot of emotion also. Some history of after the fall is even shown to name a few things. I like "Una" because it shows a clear shift in the story line, Tyr reveals a huge secret that puts a rift between him and Dylan. This show also reveals Tyr to be much more than a mere mercenie from the first season. Like I said, all four are great, mainly because each character grows some and reveals they are capable of much more than what has been shown so far.

As with the other sets, picture is very good, menus are easy to navigate, extras a decent and the packaging is simple but elegant. I wish that other Box sets would take a clue from these, very few sci fi tv shows get attentionto detail that these box sets got. I have both Babylon 5 box sets and the picture for Andromeda is better, so the bigger name does not always mean better. I give credit to the writers of the show for making the first 9 episodes of season 2 very good, Andromeda fans should like this. New people to the show will be confused, but like it.

Great episodes with nice extras

This is a set of four great episodes on top of great extras
OKAY LET ME CLEAR THE CONFUSION UP HERE, THERE ARE 4 EPISODES ON THIS SET. "ALL TOO HUMAN", "UNA SALUS VICTUS", "HOME FIRES" AND "INTO THE LABYRINTH".
These are episodes 206, 207, 208 and 209. Amazon has only 2 episodes listed, but you are getting four, and really good ones at that. The extra content is actually better than in the past on this one, all together about 10 extras total. That is slighty more than standard for these sets, I have all of the season 1 sets and the extras have never really been a problem with the series, this set and the first volume of season 2 also stand out. Also just like the first set, volume 1 is 5 episodes and the rest are 4. Just a heads up for anyone interested.
Now as for the episodes themselves, all four are very good, damn near excellent. Especially the first one, Rommie gets to really shine here. She is kicking ass and taking names, shows her true emotional side an angry side. They stole some matrix style moves here, but it works since she is an android. the other three are also very well done with very good perfomances by all the cast.
This is where things in the story line really start to take off and you see just how big the concept they are aiming for with the show really is. The changes in the characters start to shine through here; Rommie is becoming more human, Beka is becoming a great second in command, Trance is becoming a more active part in everything( With more of her mean side showing through/past), Harper is becoming more cynical and desperate (Due to the Eggs in his belly), Dylan is showing why he should remain on the ship instead of running the commonwealth( He even shows just how devious he can be and how much he is prepared for the challenges) and Tyr shows his true Nitchean nature even more( He has a secret that puts the entire ship in danger at all times and it causes a serious rift). The one character that did not really change all that much is Rev Bem, but since he leaves it makes sense. The Characters and story line take a huge leap forward at this point, all the actors did a great job here. Many possibilities and dangers are revealed for the future story line. This set could turn someone into a Andromeda fan, just like the first set of season 2. Awesome job on extras, great episodes and killer perfomances by every cast member. ... Read more

Overall, enjoyable episodes
Even though the series was going in a new direction during Season 3, it did have some great moments. Now that season 4 has passed and the show is distinctly different, we can say season 3 was the last of the Robert Hewitt Wolfe Era.

The Right Horse. In this episode, a man is being held on Veritas for stealing DNA secrets from TechnoCorps. Abel Ladrone was a man Beka had a crush on for years and given the direction of season 3, this was explored too much. The show set up Beka's friends against her (as she was leading with her hormones and not her brain) and the people of Veritas against the Andromeda and TechnoCorps against them all. This episode is a B level ep.

What Happens To A Rev Deferred. This show was done in response to all the fans who missed Rev after Brent Strait left the show in Ouroborus (Season 2). Essentially the crew receives a message from Rev Bem on a doomed world and they go and find them. It's a clip show with some new material. In the end, Rev is changed by some entity and we never hear about it much again. This is a C level episode. But still enjoyable.

Point of the Spear. This show was actually pretty good. The planet of Samsara (likely named after Sorbo's wife. Sam is his wife's name, Sara was her Andromeda character's name) is being threatened by the Pyrians who are wanting to pyroform (as opposed to terraform) the planet. But they are being led by someone suspiciously like Trance. In the end, Dylan faces a difficult choice of how to deal with an unsolvable problem. His choice would send a message. I give this one an A.

Vault 0f The Heavens. This episode was written by Harper. Well, the actor of course. It's very much a fantasy story, not quite in the mold of Andromeda. Dylan hears a voice directing him to a planet where the queen must mate in order to spread her energy to re-energize her people. I give this one a C.

Deeep Midnight's Voice. Here the Drago Kazov are looking for a slip scout that had been traveling slipstream from before the fall. The information it has would allow someone to predict slipstream and allow AIs to navigate cleanly. Very valuable. It was found on an Earth like planet that has limited technology. The B story has the beginning of intrigue regarding Tyr and the fulfillment of his plans which are explored by the end of the season. Unfortunately, the series never kept with this theme. I'd also give this an A.

Collection 3-4
The Right Horse - Beka endangers the crew of Andromeda and even an entire planet by protecting Able Ladrone, a part love accused of stealing secret DNA. Interesting story with insight into Beka's character with a surprise twist at the end.
What Happens To A Rev Deferred - Dylan and the crew receive a cry from a long lost friend - Rev Bem. Excellent episode dealing with the return of Rev Bem, a tranformation and a hint of Trance's true nature.
Point of the Spear - Dylan and the crew battle the Pyrians to save the planet Samsarra and avoid a galactic war. Excellent action episode with the ebb and flow of battle. Again, a hint of Trance's true nature and the battle to come.
Vault 0f The Heavens - Dylan is beckoned by the voice of a mysterious woman to an icy moon orbiting a giant, fiery planet. Dylan saves an entire race. Strong episode with some interesting science (I'm an armchair reader of physics) behind it.
Deeep Midnight's Voice - Dylan and the crew search for a Nietzchean slip-scout carrying a probe that can map the slipstream - a power that could change the universe. Excellent episode where we see a planet unaware of what is our there and the first hints of Tyr's plans.

As usual fairly vague pre-release description. But it's a quick heads up that they've sent the disc gold. Usually more specific info at www.advfilms.com, but be forewarned ADV's interface is really bad. I agree with John Keitz, there is not enough information about this DVD. However if you click on the picture you can see that it is Season 3 Collection 4 (well atleast according to the picture).

An excellent film! A great family friendly show!
This DVD included the first two episodes of "Road to Avonlea" the TV series, or better known in the U.S. as "Avonlea", as aired on the Disney Channel in the 1990's. A touching and family-friendly series about a little rich girl who moves to Prince Edward Island to live with her relatives when her father is accused of embezzlement in his own company. The adventures that this little girl Sara Stanley has with her cousins, (the "King" family) are hilarious and heart-warming! This is definately worth checking out!!
