1-0 out of 5 stars NOT the original version of the show - music edited
If you are one of those idiots who says "oh shut up and stop complaining, it's just the music, waaa waaa", take your DVDs and BURN them. You know nothing about what it means for the music to be an important part of the show and are just a complete moron (I can't express in words the anger that goes through me reading someone go "it's just the music"; it's NOT just the music!!!, it's the SHOW that is screwed up!!!)
Quantum Leap is one of those shows where the music is crucial aspect of show; the music is not just some background noise; it sets the mood. The show is completely ruined and is not worth a cent without the original soundtrack. Awful job on the part of Universal.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent series
No matter what this series is excellent. Anyone griping about the music must remember its better to have the series on dvd rather than not available at all. Hopefully season 4 will come out soon as its my favorite!

1-0 out of 5 stars Hey, Universal, call me when you come to your senses.
Having read that Universal once again mucked up the music, I won't be buying Season 3 of Quantum Leap. There are some shows in which the music doesn't really matter - Laverne & Shirley's first season, for example, mentions on the box that the music is different, but the songs in Laverne & Shirley are merely incidental, background sounds. In QL, the music was a major part of the show, helping to set the time period, helping to set the mood.

I have read some of the reviews from people who claim that the change in music makes no difference (generally such comments are written in a boorish, bumptious, hectoring tone, a fact which I find rather interesting and quite telling). No?Close your eyes and imagine the Lord of the Rings movies with elevator music instead of the soaring splendor of its real score.Ponder "American Graffiti" with the sort of synthesized slop that has replaced the original music in QL. Then try to tell me that music doesn't matter.

The choice is not these travesties or nothing for most QL fans; it's a choice of a poorer-quality taped-from-TV video with the real music, taking up more shelf space than a DVD set; or a better-quality picture with no commercials that has had much of the atmosphere stripped from it. I'll take my tapes, thank you very much.If Universal comes to its senses and releases QL in unmangled form, even if it costs more, I'll buy it. Until then, count me out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classics never get old!
I have been waiting for this season for a long time now. The series reached its peak with episodes like "The Leap Home" and "The Boogie Man". Scott and Dean do their best work when the story really gives them the chance and the episodes of the third season really give them the best chances of the entire five-year run! It is pure pleasure to watch them perform. It is a shame that they only got five years! They could have gone on for many more!!!
(BTW, if anyone is confused by the other reviewers complaints about the change in the music, don't worry about it. What you heard on TV is what you get. They didn't change the music for the DVD release - which is exactly what I thought they were complaining about!) So buy this DVD set! You won't regret it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Forget It
Music replacement abound, once again.A truly great show is being given the shaft by Universal, who only percieves it's formidable fan base as an open wallet.Boycott.Don't listen to the soulless collectors who only want to line their DVD shelves.QL without the original music arrangements is a travesty. ... Whether it's a snowy nude sprint down Main Street, the mysterious appearance of a long-lost relative, or the improbable death of yet another of Maggie's boyfriends, life's never dull in the remote hamlet of Cicely, Alaska. Colorful characters and quirky plots propelled Northern Exposure into the hearts of millions of viewers, earning the CBS "dramedy" series seven Emmy awards between its 1990 debut and its demise six seasons later.

In season 1, we meet Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), an urban New York yuppie who consents to four years of rural servitude after Alaska pays his medical-school tuition. Joel's fish-out-of-water adventures drive the show, but it's the quirky ensemble of characters--Chris, the DJ/philosopher (John Corbett), Holling, the bartender (John Cullum), Maurice, the town patriarch (Barry Corbin), Ed, the filmmaker (Darren E. Burrows), and Maggie, the bush pilot (Janine Turner), among others–-that keeps the series consistently entertaining. The town develops its own offbeat personality as well, a Mayberry-meets-Twin-Peaksblend of Native mysticism, Aurora Borealis-induced dreams, unlikely tales of long-lost family members, and rumors of a Bigfoot-like creature known simply as "Adam."

Northern Exposure provides a utopian escape--a place where life is interesting but never dangerous, everyone's insightful, the mystical becomes real, and nobody's burdened with a mundane 9-to-6 desk job. Cicely is a delightful place to visit, even if it's only for an hour at a time.

A mid-season replacement, season 1 consists of just eight episodes on two DVDs. Each episode includes 5-10 minutes of outtakes and deleted scenes. --Shane Burnett ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Yay! Finally!
With the glut of completely forgettable TV shows and movies flooding onto DVD, it's nice to see a series of great quality, superior writing, memorable characters, and consistent imagination make it finally to DVD! "Northern Exposure" is a true classic! It'll be great to have it available legally in Region 1 NTSC (there have been bootleg Region 2 PAL versions floating around for a couple years already on eBay, but with extremely poor sound/video synchronization).
The first season only has 8 episodes (since it premiered during the summer of 1990. It might have been better to combine the 1st season with the 7 episodes of season 2 (which ran in April/May 1991, for a 15 episode set, but comprehending the mind of marketing 'geniuses' is bound to lead nowehere.) The first 'regular' seasons with 22-24 episodes only began in September 1991.
Let's hope this release signals that after season 1, the next 5 seasons will also soon see the light of day.

Some of the extras promised for this release:

Deleted Scenes
Video Documentary Footage
Mock Movie Footage
"Unexposed" Footage

(and special limited edition "Parka" packaging!)

1-0 out of 5 stars Where's the Beef?
Norther Exposure is probably one of the best cast, best written, & best Location-scouted TV shows ever aired. My wife & I eagerly awaited for the show's arrival to DVD. When we purchased the show--for an outrageous $50.00--we were shocked at what we received. Yes, the innovative packaging was fun, but it hid the fact that there was nothing inside. As others have noted, the price is horrible when you realize that there were on 8 episodes! What makes it worse is that there is absolutely no information included. No booklet with stills from the show, no list of episodes, nothing at all. On top of that, they do not even give you multiple discs, they give you cheezy 2 sided discs with 2 shows on each side. What were they thinking? Others have noted that seasons 1 & 2 should have been combined. I agree. If you are a fan of the show & want the episodes from season 2, you'll get reamed gain... there are only 7 episodes!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great TV you can't find these days.
I am giving this DVD 5 stars because that's what the show is worth. You can't find TV like this now days and perhaps never will again. I have watched late night re-runs and fell in love years ago. I cannot wait to revisit Sicily Alaska again.
The 1st season is only 8 episodes so yeah it is a little short. I can guarantee it will only leave you wanting more though. Because the show is so amazing I am not to concerned about price. I am crossing all fingers and toes that they will release the rest of the seasons on DVD or I will be forced to buy the A&E VHS copies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Northern Exposure--The ultimate TV show!
I remember watching the TV show when it was in it's 2nd or 3rd season and I became completely hooked on it. I'm very glad I got this DVD that contains the entire 1st season of shows and the extra goodies that come with it. I can hardly wait for the 2nd season to be released on DVD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Close, but not enough.
This was great. My friends were able to see how the story all started and I got to see it all over again. But only 8 episodes, I would agree with other reviewers, they should have gave the first two seasons. Definitely better than a lot of other TV to DVD issues out there right now. ... Read more

The Hardy Boys Mysteries and The Nancy Drew Mysteries began in 1977 as separate series alternating in the same time slot on ABC. Early the following year, the casts combined, and in the fall of 1978 the Nancy Drew thread was dropped and The Hardy Boys Mysteries continued on alone. This Season One boxed set captures the twin-series idea at its most ambitious, with adolescent brothers Frank and Joe Hardy, created by author Franklin W. Dixon, sleuthing for clues one week and Carolyn Keene's Nancy Drew investigating crimes the next.

Actually, as fans of the books know, Dixon and Keene were both pen names used by Edward Stratemeyer when he created those characters in 1927. Just as the young detectives have been updated in print every so often to accommodate successive generations of readers, so too did the TV show present Joe (Shaun Cassidy, brother of David Cassidy of The Partridge Family), Frank (Parker Stevenson), and Nancy (Pamela Sue Martin) as thoroughly 1970s kids. The boys are outfitted with motorcycles, Joe enjoys a retro-pop singing career, and Nancy has a certain freedom of movement only the hippest of dads in a permissive age would allow. Hardy Boys finds the always-amicable siblings following in the footsteps of their father, Fenton (Edmund Gilbert), a private detective, as they untangle capers that take them from haunted houses to Hawaii. The Hardy episodes make for brisk, family viewing, much better than the bubblegum reputation that built up, undeservedly, around the series. Slightly less interesting are the Nancy Drew programs (despite a more entertaining supporting cast), but only because the heroine is less focused and distractingly man-crazy, and the storylines are less exotic. An emphasis on the supernatural and science-fiction themes lends a Scooby-Doo vibe to several programs in both series, though the best stories are the ones with straightforward, meat-and-potatoes detective work. Among the directors on either series are Jack Arnold (The Creature from the Black Lagoon), Winrich Kolbe (Star Trek: The Next Generation, and actors Vince Edwards and Stuart Margolin. --Tom Keogh ... 5-0 out of 5 stars How the West was Fun............
In this Movie the Olson twins play Sarah and Jessica, two girls who go to go visit their grandmother, who lives on an old dude ranch....The Ranch is going bankupt, and a relative named Bart, wants to tear down the ranch and build a amusment park.....But can the girls save it????????
This is a very cute movie,a must see for fans of the Twins....I watched this when I was the same age as the twins, and now my cousins are 5,and now they can watch it too........

5-0 out of 5 stars a very good Olsen movie
A very enjoyable Olsen movie with a good storyline and characters. 8-year-olds Jessica and Susie talk their single father into taking a visit with them to a dude ranch, upon the request of their grandmother Nattie. When the girls learn that Nattie's cold and selfish son Bart plans on turning the place into a theme park, it's up to them to save the ranch. It's a very heartwarming and entertaining movie that captures the girls at some of their best acting years.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved every minute of it!
How can anyone dislike this movie?
It has everything: a great storyline involving an evil villain (Bart Gifooley - Martin Mull) and best of all, adorable 8 year old twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.) The Olsen's younger sister, Lizzie also gets a look-in.
The story is about twins who visit their Grandmother's ranch only to find that a nasty man wants to turn the ranch into a theme park. It's their job to stop him.
The best Mary-Kate and Ashley film in my opinion with a beautiful soundtrack (which includes a song sung by the twins themselves - they may not be the best singers but they sure are cute!)

5-0 out of 5 stars HOW theWEST wasFUN
THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT TWO TWIN GIRLS SUSIE AND JESSICA MARTIN WHO GO TO A DUDE RANCH WHERE THERE MOTHER STAYED AS A KID WITH NATTY WHO IS VERY SWEET! THEY FIND THEIR MOTHERS SECRETS HALF OF AN OWL AND BEAR AND READ HER DIARY. NATTY`S SON BART WANTS TO MAKE THE RANCH INTO A THEME PARK CALLED GIFOOLEY LAND. WHEN THEY GO LOOKING FOR GOLD THEY FIND THE OTHER HALF OF THE BEAR AND THE OWL.THEY SAVED THE RANCH FROM BART GIFOOLY AND THEY FOUND THE HORSE LIGHTNING THEIR MOMS HORSE. YOU SHOULD SEE IT ITS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES!

5-0 out of 5 stars Epic
Sweeping and majestic film that is not only a deeply personal commentary on the problems facing the contemporary American West, but it entertains like no other Western since "High Plains Muppet."

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen portray simple rancher folk in Brown Star, Wyoming. They're charming twins that have seen the land around them take a turn for the worst at the greedy hands of corrupt officials inside the local and national offices of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management. Not only has the land around them changed dramatically in their lifetimes, but more importantly that helping hand from Uncle Sam seems bent on picking them up with one hand only to stab them in the back with the other. The Olsens are adorably wise to the government's shady dealings with big business in their backyard, and they would rather fight than flee. "How the West Was Fun" passionately traces their progression from simply precious right-minded citizens to lawless renegade darlings. The thrilling standoff in the film's final hour will make you think about the Waco tragedy and the Montana Freemen showdown in a whole new light.

Seamlessly woven into the fabric of this story are flashbacks to how things were once simpler on the Olsen ranch, when an honest and delightful rancher could live off the land without worrying about theme parks and nuclear missile silos interfering with the environment. John Sayles is once again at the top of his directorial game, and for once he has legitimate star power attracting a broader audience to his perpetually underappreciated craft. He has reportedly attracted Jaleel White (Urkel on TV's "Family Matters") for his next project based almost solely on this work, and what a work it is.

As the credits roll, the viewer can't help but shake the inspired irony of the title. The "fun" West was indeed the West of yesterday, of simpler times. However, when the cute as buttons twins are blinded by lawlessness at the film's climax, the crazed smiles on their once adorably heroic faces suggest that the fun is now nothing but mindless violence.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun movie
I remember watching this movie over and over when I was younger. You can't go wrong with the Olsen twins movies from when they were little--I'm sure most of us would agree that they were absolutely adorable and endearing at this age.

DDTT is a fun Halloween movie with lots of magic and supernatural powers that might be too much for younger kids, but it's still a very enjoyable film. Sick and tired of being twins, 7-year-olds Lynn and Kelly often get into fights. After experiencing cold rejection from their witch aunt Agatha and hearing stories from a mysterious "grave-digger," the girls finally learn of their parents' financial problems and set off on their own to rescue their beloved Aunt Sophia, who was the victim of a spell from her sister Agatha 7 years ago and is the only person who will be able the family get out of debt. And of course, lots of friends are made along the way, and the movie has got Mary-Kate and Ashley as the stars--a good formula for a kids' film.If you're a kid, you'll probably enjoy watching this on Halloween--if you're like me or anyone else who remembers the Olsen twins' younger days, you'll also enjoy watching and remembering.

5-0 out of 5 stars my favorite Olsen movie
This is my favorite Olsen movie that they have made, mainly because unlike so many of their more recent movies, it has a good plot and a very good supporting cast. The plot sends 7-year-olds Lynn and Kelly on a Halloween night mission to get a magical moonstone from their evil aunt who has cast a spell on their other aunt. Fun for little kids, but also enjoyable for older fans. It's a good movie to pull out around Halloweentime (or whenever) and at 17 years old, I am not ashamed to watch it because it is truly one of Mary-Kate and Ashley's better movies. I guess the reason I think that is because of the stronger recognition of the other characters--they really get a more substantial role in the movie than the surrounding characters in some of MKA's other movies. In this film, you'll fall in love with the endearing gravedigger, the money-hungry yet lovable Mr. N, and the supportive, "take charge" Oscar the Clown. And then you've got the girls' parents--who, for once, actually act like parents. Gentle, loving, good people--and yet they have problems of their own that they must get through as a family. Now you start to get the feel of a real movie with a real plot. Too many of Mary-Kate and Ashley's movies either have them with single moms or dads(which there is nothing wrong with at all, but it got a little repetitive with the Olsens) or completely up-in-the-clouds parents who were practically at their feet doting on them and giving them everything, thus showing the viewer exactly what life is NOT like. This movie is one exception where the casting of the girls' parents is very strong and realistic. After seeing enough of their other films, you may grow to appreciate seeing this. I am a long-time fan of these girls' films--have been ever since their memorable Full House days. But if you're looking for a quality Olsen movie, I'd recommend that you go for the ones from their younger years--this one may be your best bet. But that's only my opinion.

1-0 out of 5 stars Parents Beware
I purchased this video and was appalled when I watched it with my child. The twins go home with a homeless man without a second thought! What kind of message is this for children? Plus, the movie has disturbing imagery, that I found scary even as an adult. This is not wholesome entertainment!

Looking for a good "scary" movie for five+? Try The Ghost and Mr. Chicken with Don Knots. I loved it, and now all the many children in my life love it, too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't get this video
This is a scary show, not due to the Halloween content, but because two little girls run away from home, talk to a stranger (a homeless man, or "hobo", go into another stranger's house (who is a midget male clown), need I say more? Although these fellows turn out to be nice guys, we all know that doesn't always happen in the real world. Bad message for kids who are supposed to be learning not to talk to strangers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Double Double tiol and trouble
I loved the movie. I am a big fan of the olsen twins. I have liked them since they were in Full House as babies. They are so cute and I am going to keep bying their movies until they stop making them. They are such a joy to watch on tv considering all of the bad junk that is on tv these days. I have a 3 year old child who loves the olsen twins as well. she gets me ot go out and buy them when she

"In your satin tights / Fighting for your rights / And the old Red, White, and Blue!... / Wonder Woman!" Could anyone who grew up in the '70s ever forget that super-catchy theme song? Originally packaged as the female version of the Batman TV show (producer Stanley Ralph Ross penned 32 of the caped crusader's episodes), Wonder Woman ended up redefining the campy, comic book genre. The primetime show immediately became a social and cultural phenomenon, attracting a wide audience that continued to tune in to America's favorite socially progressive superheroine.

Looking back on it now, it is easy to see the attraction of this unique show that oozed '70s culture, but was set in the 1940s. While trying to stop a Nazi plane from reaching the U.S., Major Steve Trevor (Lyle Waggoner) is shot down, landing on mythical Paradise Island. The uncharted island is the hidden home to the lost tribe of eternally young Amazon women. The Amazons take in the Major and nurse him back to health. During his recovery he attracts the sympathy and interest of Princess Diana (Lynda Carter, former Miss USA 1973) who is intrigued by the man from the mainland and his tales of the evil Nazis. She decides she must follow the Major back to the U.S. and join the forces of good against the tyranny of evil.So begins the saga of the beautiful Amazon Wonder Woman, armed with super strength, bulletproof bracelets, and the unbreakable, "truth-telling," golden lasso. What sets season 1 apart from the two subsequent seasons is that the pilot and each of the 13 episodes take place during World War II, corresponding to the original comic stories. In this season we see Wonder Woman battle spies, uncover Fausta the Nazi Wonder Woman, stop thieves trying to steal the secret substance of Amazonian power (Feminum), wrestle a Nazi-trained circus gorilla, and rescue an interplanetary visitor held captive by the Third Reich--all of which are priceless.

With World War II coming to an end, what will Amazonian Diana Prince do for Wonder Woman's second season?Sporting the biggest continuity jump in TV history, Wonder Woman's new network (now on CBS from ABC) decided to catapult the show 35 years into the future into "modern day" Los Angeles, 1977.Not surprisingly, the 35 years haven't aged the immortal one bit. In fact, she seems to have gotten stronger, her super powers have increased, and her mind is sharper and focused on fighting the evils of the modern world: nuclear weapons, terrorists, aliens, and the mind controlling influences of rock music. Season 2 kicks off with the awesome hour-and-a-half season premiere, "The Return of Wonder Woman."Returning once again from Paradise Island, Diana Prince teams up this time with former colleague Major Steve Trevor's son (still played by Lyle Waggoner) to protect humankind and to keep Paradise Island hidden from the free world. In the 21 episodes that follow, Wonder Woman will take on a nuclear facility planning to build near Paradise Island, a mad scientist plotting against the super heroine with telekinesis, mind-stealing aliens from outer space, an evil toymaker's demented androids, and a rock star (Martin Mull?!) who is using hypnosis to control the minds of his fans. In this new millennium, Wonder Woman may seem a bit cheesy to some, but to others this show and Lynda Carter represent the pinnacle of '70s television culture.Wonder Woman: The Complete Second Season is a completely satisfying guilty pleasure for those who want to indulge. --Rob Bracco ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Series
I admit it.Even as a kid, I always like Wonder Woman the best. And for the silliest reason.I love her ability to change from Diana Prince to Wonder Woman by spinning.I always thought that was so cool.Naturally, this was one of the few shows I was going to buy if it ever came out on DVD.

So my list of shows I'm allowed to buy has grown, but this show remains a great one to have on DVD.This set is for the first two of the three seasons. As of today, that's all that's been released.

Season one finds Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter) leaving Paradise Island to help America fight the Nazis in World War II.The set includes all 13 of the WWII episodes, including the extended pilot.I'll admit to never having been a super fan of this season. To this day, it seems cheesy to me.I think one problem is that they give Wonder Woman too many "love will solve everything" lines.

Season two finds our heroine on a new network and in a new decade.Wonder Woman is called to the world of men once again to fight the evils of the "modern" 70's.Teaming up with the son of the original Steve Trevor (still played by Lyle Waggoner), she joins the Inter Agency Defense Command and finds plenty of danger to keep her busy.I much prefer the modern episodes because they allow Diana and Wonder Woman to develop a personality.I find her a fun character to watch. And she takes on the bad guys head on, more concerned with catching them then transforming them.

These DVD sets are great for fans. Both sets are two sided discs to keep the price down. With three episodes per side, you get a sharp picture and clear sound.Presented like they were on TV 30 years ago, there's nothing here that will blow you away, but there doesn't have to be.Season 1 has a commentary on the pilot and then a "how the series came to be" documentary.Season 2 has a documentary as well.

So the series is slightly (ok, greatly) dated. It's still fun for the nostalgia crowd. And Lynda Carter will always be Wonder Woman to me.I'm thrilled to have these, and can't wait to get my hands on season 3.Long live Wonder Woman! ... Read more

I don't own, nor do I plan to purchase this product because I ALREADY own the Complete 1st Season on DVD!What overpaid executive came up with this stupid release?I agree with the other writers, how about a Season 2 preview tape? What good is a preview after the full season has been released?Just a ridiculous marketing plan.

This would be the same as going to the theater and seeing previews of films that were released almost 2 years prior!

1-0 out of 5 stars Why is Fox so ignorant?
Fox is releasing all these so-called "best of" disks of their shows, only AFTER releasing the first seasons. This is absured and insulting to the fans that have bought the complete seasons and to fans of the shows in general.<>

5-0 out of 5 stars Four Top Notch Episodes
In a recent effort to get casual fans interested in their TV products on DVD, Fox has released four episode starter sets of several of their shows.Reasonably priced, they tempt the viewer to buy the first season and even provide a coupon for the purchase price of the sampler off the price of the complete first season if offered. The casual fan has little to loose.

And this set offers four of the funniest episodes from the first season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show."Love is All Around" is one of my favorite TV pilots ever, expertly introducing us to the characters we'd grow to love as the series progressed.

"Support Your Local Mother" brings Rhoda's Mom for a visit. With Mary as her host, Mary begins to see why Rhoda has a hard time dealing with her mother.

"Toulouse-Lautrec Is One of My Favorite Artists" finds Mary confronting the realization that she's a height bigot when a charming but shorter man asks her out.

"The Snow Must Go On" places Mary in charge of election night coverage.Vowing they won't go off the air until they get final results, Mary must keep Ted going when they are cut off from any source of news.

Of course, the problem with this disc is that any fan of the show has had two and a half years to get the complete first season by now.But if you are a casual fan, this disc will give you four top notch episodes from the first season of this classic sit-com.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good but buy the complete season 1 instead
I am rating this 5 stars just because the MTM show deserves 5 stars.Notice that the sales rank of this start up disk is much lower than the complete box set.Good.I want Fox to release seasons 2+ in their entirety. And hopefully this will help.Just a note to the Fox team who is putting out the MTM dvds..... Include the entire cast on the box.The pictures they use nowis making it look like the 'Independent Seventies Woman striking it out on her own' type show which was new at the time but today it's dated. If they include Ted, Lou, Murray, etc. it will appeal to a much wider audience who know and love these characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars For "Starters", Check Out These Four Terrific MTM Episodes!
On March 22, 2005, Fox Home Entertainment released this "TV Starter Set" DVD consisting of four of the best episodes from Season #1 of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". This one-disc "Starter" Pack is nice for those people who are not at all familiar with the MTM Show (and would just like to see a "sample" from the series), or for those who are already fans of Mary's show, but don't want to dig too deep into their pocketbooks and purchase the full-season, 24-episode DVD boxed set of the first MTM season, which is a compilation which also earns a perfect "Five-Star" rating from this writer.

Unlike the deluxe 4-Disc "Complete First Season" DVD set of "TMTMS", there aren't any special bonus features on this "Starter" disc -- just the four episodes (listed below). But it's still a very good deal, IMO, at the bargain price offered.

The video quality for these four stellar MTM episodes is simply SUPERB! I doubt these shows could look any better. The colors are perfect and vibrant and there's no annoying video "noise" or artifacts (that I can detect at any rate).

Each episode here gets its own "Chapter" sub-menu on the disc, with 10 chapter stops per show! Video is presented in the original TV ratio of 1.33:1; the audio sounds just fine via the disc's English Dolby Digital soundtrack (of the 2.0 Mono variety). There are even two foreign-language tracks included (in Spanish 2.0 Mono and French 2.0 Mono); plus Subtitles in English and Spanish. Unfortunately, there is not a "Play All" feature included.

There's also a very short "Mary Tyler Moore TV Spot" included on this disc. This is not an original 1970 CBS-TV promo for TMTMS, however. It's a brief 15-second ad pitching the 4-Disc "Complete First Season" set of The MTM Show.

A 12-page insert (DVD advertising booklet) also comes with this Starter Set, featuring many ads for other FOX TV-On-DVD products.

And -- You also get a valuable mail-in certificate good for $10.00 off the price of one of FOX's full-season DVD boxed sets. According to this coupon offer, you don't necessarily have to use the discount for the Mary Tyler Moore first-season collection. You can apply the $10 discount to any one of 12 different complete-season sets put out by Fox Home Entertainment -- "TMTMS" Season 1, "24" Seasons 1 thru 3, "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" Seasons 1 thru 7, or "The Pretender" Season 1. The coupon offer expires December 31, 2005.

Here's a glance at the four episodes that make up this "MTM Starter Set" (with original CBS-TV Air Dates in parenthesis)............

1.) "Love Is All Around" (09/19/1970)
2.) "Support Your Local Mother" (10/24/1970)
3.) "Toulouse-Lautrec Is One Of My Favorite Artists" (10/31/1970)
4.) "The Snow Must Go On" (11/7/1970)

"Love Is All Around" is the debut episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", and does a great job of introducing the viewing audience to "Mary Richards", "Rhoda Morgenstern", "Phyllis Lyndstrom", "Lou Grant", "Murray Slaughter", and "Ted Baxter".

Everybody in this series was first-rate all the way, with the show picking up more steam as the first season progressed; and it got even better in Season #2.

"The Mary Tyler Moore Show" was one of the most popular and successful TV comedy series ever aired on network television, accumulating an amazing 67 Emmy nominations during its seven-year period on the airwaves (1970 to 1977). The series won 29 total Emmy Awards, including four during its rookie season.

This MTM "Starter" disc is a fine supplementary addition to the DVD collection of anyone who loves flat-out good TV shows.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE HOTTEST SUPERCOUPLE ON TELEVISION!!!!
Johnathan and Jennifer Hart were the quintessential super sexy couple of the late 70's and early 80's!!!! They rocked as the jet-setting, totally in love, detective duo!!! They had it all, wealth, glamour, passion, and no kids!!!
I just loved the way they stumbled on to those unexpected exciting adventures and murder mysteries. They made it look so easy!!! This show worked on so many levels, you had Jennifer who was sexy as hell, and you didn't hate her because she was so beautiful. She was just so lovable!!! Then there was Johnathan, handsome, but not beefcake, had a great sense of humor, and the guy was completely smitten with his adoring wife. Let's face it they had the ultimate fantasy dream marriage that only existed on prime-time television!!!
I hope we the fans of this dynamite show wont have to wait too much longer for the dvd release, and it would be nice to see a current interview with Robert Wagner & Stephanie Powers. God! I can't believe Robert Wagner turned 75 recently, he looks fantastic!!! Stephanie Powers is still pretty well preserved as well. I would also love to see a couple of her best mini-series come to dvd in America, Mistral's Daughter and Deceptions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mexico - - Take Me!!
This is the DVD I want Next Time.I can Remember Me on Saturday Nites during College in front of the tube watching Love Boat and Fantasy Island.I especially want to see the episode with Marion Ross and Andy Warholl.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE EXCITING AND NEW,COME ABOARD WE'RE EXPECTING YOU!!!
Hey I know this show would be considered hoakey by today's standards, but nowadays it doesn't hurt to indulge in a little guilty pleasure like the Love Boat. I truly enjoyed the show's simple formula, boy meets girl, they fall in love, and by the end of the cruise everything works out. Wouldn't it be great if real life worked out so easily. It's even more fun watching this show in reruns, because you get to look back at all the celebrities who boarded the Pacific Princess (some more than others) hint hint Charro! I also enjoyed the special two-part episodes, like when Julie had her high school reunion, the time when real life designers guest-starred and had a major fashion show, and when Hollywood Legends (Ginger Rogers,Ann Miller, and Carol Channing)appeared in a musical spectacular!!!
It would be nice to include an on camera reunion with the original cast and see how they are doing now. I remember A&E did a really good biography on the show and maybe they could include that on the dvd. Anyways, I hope it doesn't take the studios too long to realize there are still alot of Love Boat fans and release the series on dvd!!! ... Read more
