5-0 out of 5 stars Sometimes cheesy is GOOD!
I liked this film! Honest! It was great fun, and quite exciting too. Okay, so I liked most of the actors, such as Wil Wheaton as Rodney and Terry Farrell as the scientist Allison

It reminded me greatly of the film The Core in various parts, in fact I think that The Core took a great deal from this low budget sci-fi than people are willing to admit.

The plot is quite simple, it's a save the from destruction movie, with your obligatory bad guy who finds his conscience at the last minute and saves the others by sacrificing his own life, the gruesome death of a likeable crew member (Rodney) and the exciting ride in the bowels of the earth by the survivors trying to make it to the surface in one piece!

Of course there are other baddies in that the Deep Core Machine they are using has been built and funded by the Chinese who want to use it as weapon at some point and the sleazy American bad Daryl guy played with gusto by the dead pan actor James Russo gets his just deserts at the end.

It is nothing spectacular but it is good fun to watch! The special effects aren't all that brilliant though they do have their moments, the finding of a huge diamond cavern is one of them, the lasers on the Deep Core machine another, and I thought the lava flow was pretty good too!

All in all this is quality cheese, and I really enjoyed it and I'm not ashamed to admit to it online!

2-0 out of 5 stars Cheesy, But Worth Watching
Deep Core is one of those Sci-Fi movies that you almost wish they didn't make. The premise is good, about half of the actors are good, there are even some interesting scenes of the ship that aren't half-bad. That's about all that can be said for the movie.

Deep Core is based on the same basic premise as 2003's The Core - Man has screwed up the earth and has to tunnel down into the earth to fix it. The Core is clearly the better of the two movies. Deep Core, on the other hand, has all of the same elements: a ship (The Core's is a lot better looking), a crew, a few nuclear warheads, a person that gets killed by lava, and a person that sacrifices themselves for the rest of the group. Once you get passed those basic similarities, Deep Core is but a pour precursor to the later film. It has three good actors: Wil Wheaton, Terry Farrell and Bruce McGill; the rest are generally overly dramatic.

There are a few special effects that don't look all that bad (such as the cutting scenes). All of the earth-quake-type scenes look rather fake and the ship looks poorly suited to the type of work that it was designed for. Overall, its not a bad film, but if you have a choice watch The Core, not Deep Core.

5-0 out of 5 stars How can you NOT love this movie???
This is the ultimate sci-fi geek movie... we have Ms. Terry Farrell of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Jadzia Dax) and the infamous Wil Wheaton of Star Trek: Next Generation (Wesley Crusher) and current Internet fame. I can't honestly believe the trekkies can stay away. This one scores WAY higher for me than Free Enterprise.

It was recommended by Wil on his site (see url below) yesterday so we hopped down to the video store and rented it. It's cheesy and fun and a great movie.

Nice death scene, Wil....

3-0 out of 5 stars Awesome - if you're a B movie scifi or Terry Farrell fan
Anything with Terry Farrell in it rates Five stars in my book, she is one of the,(if not thee), most beautifull and sexy women alive, not to mention a very intelligent, talented actress, I wish she had the confidence (she has the talent) to do more quality movies. (she'd be awesome in a romantic comedy) What can I say I'm a fan. But to be honest this is a Sci-fi B-movie action adventure, Probably low budget, but the special effect are good. I gave it 3 Stars for having Terry in it, her acting is very good (considering the script). If it had a bigger budget, a better plot and script it would earn the 3 stars or more. But still it is a fun movie to watch and I enjoyed it. But you have to be a B-movie, SCI-FI fan to really enjoy it. (or a Terry fan) I'm both. The cast is good and the acting, I think they had a lot of fun making it, and some of you will watching it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Meanwhile, back in the 60s.
This is just like an updated B movie from the sixties and I enjoyed it. It's real comic book stuff. The effects are not bad, the pace hardly flags and the cast seem to be enjoying themselves so it's easy viewing. I enjoyed this more than big budget films such as Evolution or Jurassic Park 3. But I think the absence of big names will put people off, not that it matters because the cast here do a fine job. And if big names don't matter to you then you could do a lot worse than watch this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Richard Norton in First Rate Action Pic!
"Nautilus" begins at a swift and entertaining pace in a moody South American setting where the film's hero, portrayed by Richard Norton with his dependable excellence, eludes his opponents down the corridors of a crumbling hotel. The scene
mixes a comedic tone with action -- not always a successful
combination in the hands of lesser actors. Norton strikes his marks and the fun never lets up as the plot moves into a futuristic world of time travel aboard the high seas. With his able supporting cast, Norton and company make the film a first rate adventure. It is a DVD that action fans will want to own!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not -ilus
Any movie which focuses heavily on a time travelling submarine is doomed to start with. Yet the creators of this movie managed to make it even worse than expected. The main feature of this giant submarine was a giant hand lever that actually operated something. Then to top it all off the submarine had lavishly furnished room complete with an abundance of artwork. Wouldn't you suppose that on a time travelling submarine space would be at a premium, and you wouldn't want a hand crank doing anything?

Apparently the creators of this movie disagree. They seemed to be more focused on the super drill which can bore to the center of the earth and provide power for the world. Little does the money grubbing drill owner know that this will cause the end of the world and a drastic outbreak of toxic shock. And apparently this toxic shock can affect the male population and is indeed caused by bad drinking water. I think some writer was sleeping during his junior high health classes.

Even though I give this movie one star, I think you should see it. It's so terrible it's funny. While you're at it, rent Octopus too, that is another submarine classic. That way you can explore the ocean to your heart's content.

1-0 out of 5 stars TIME TRAVEL TIME WASTER
Telling a good time travel story and making it into a movie is pretty difficult even with good acting, good special effects and good directing. Try Nautilus: bad acting, bad special effects and poor directing.

STORY: People from the year 2099 living on environmentally decimated planet earth decide to return to 1999 in a time traveling submarine to fix history. The problem is to stop a new big energy project from being started up in 1999. This is what caused all of the 2099 troubles. But from beginning to end not only is movie messed up by implausible plots, they are carried out by cliché people. The greedy energy broker, his sometimes homicidal, sometimes humantistic security specialist; who used to be a Special Forces Vietnam killer, then mercenary ... and now this. Mixed in with this mischigas are environmental terrorists who launch an attack against the new energy station; just as the Nautilius arrives in 1999 from the future. Let's not forget the inept U.S. Air Force which cannot manage to stop anyone from doing anything. Clichés on top of clichés.

As a time travel movie, the 1960 H.G. Wells-inspired movie Time Machine was infinitely better than this flick. With all of the new computer and special effects technology the producer, screenwriter, and director should have done a lot better. Moreover, with new genres springing from movies such as Alien, Star Wars, Lost in Space .... and on and on ... serving as positive role models, there is no excuse in 1999 for such a lousy movie as Nautilus. Save your time and bypass this awful movie.

2-0 out of 5 stars I only gave it 2 stars because its at least a SCI FI movie
I have to give this movie a big thumbs down. It was lacked the technology that it should have had. The Port hole that was the "Main Viewer" for the Nautilus was opened by Hand using a hand crank of some sort which I thought was hilarious that a submarine that could travel thru time would have something that had to be operated by hand...

Many other flaws but I will let you decide..

I am a Sci-Fi fan so I gave it 2 stars ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst movie ever
I normally would not write a review, but I am ashamed to say that I lost two hours of my life to this obscenely horrible movie. I would have had a better time if I had stabbed myself in the eye five times and tried to bandage it with a soldering iron. If you are looking for a reason to kill yourself, Sonic Impact is the movie for you. Not only was there no Sonic Impact, there was no impact at all. Terrible plot and horrible character development, add to a low budget thriller that I would use to punish my children if they were to pee on the kitchen floor. Ice T was by far the best actor in this movie. If that doesn't give you an impression of its quality, then you probably can't read or write. If you enjoyed Chill Factor, Dante's Peak, or Canadian suspense movies... this movie is for you. I am dumber from seeing this movie. May god have mercy on my soul.

4-0 out of 5 stars The sky could not be more deadly
I first saw this movie when i was in Dubi in a movie theater and when i saw the movie poster i was surprised because i have never heard of this movie. It is a direct to video release for the U.S. After the credits rolled through thats when i realized this is not going to be a big budget movie. Overall it was a really good movie. I reccomend it for people looking for a date movie to rent. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars What is the message in this film?
Yes, there's eroticism -- and yes, there are beautiful women! OK, and there's even a conscious plot that keeps the film moving. And the acting isn't too shabby.

But, if you're a somewhat discriminating filmgoer, you're going to feel a little bewildered by the ending. It seems as though the director was told (I'm guessing) that there was no money left, so he had better end it right there, and try to extract some vague message, such as "just because she gives . . . doesn't mean she's not going to put a knife in my back!" Or, even better, "never trust a blonde!"

2-0 out of 5 stars I hired it for the sex scenes
And really it fails to deliver with both story and any seductive scenes. The only + is that there is a very pretty girl in the movie which we see on the cover.

I wouldn't buy it, but if it's a cheap hire and your bored why not hire it and see for yourself?

Bold & The Beautiful soap fans should note "Eric Forrester" plays the role of Psychiatrist in this film.

5-0 out of 5 stars AVERAGE MOVIE
I GAVE IT 5 STARS FOR TWO REASONS TANE AND WENDY.PRETTY GOOD SEQUEL.DOESN'T SURPASE THE ORIGINAL BUT WHAT MOVIE DOES.THIS IS A MUST SEE,AND HAVE FOR FANS OF THESE KINDS OF MOVIES...........CAN'T WAIT TILL PART 3 COMES OUT IN 2002 SHANNON WILL SUPPOSEDLY BE RETURNING IT WILL ROCK...........

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than a Poke in the Eye with a Sharp Stick
This movie offers two good reasons to watch - Tane McClure and Wendy Schumacher. They are both very well endowed, and you will put up with the paper thin (although interesting) "plot" just to get another eyefull of these beauties. The DVD is not wide-screen format, but overall not too badly done. If you are looking for a suspense filled thriller, buy "The Fugative". If you are looking for blonde bombshells, buy this today.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Strip Show, Same Old Boring Plot
Tane Mcclure happens to be Shannon Tweed's daughter who after being cheated by her husband with gorgeous Wendy Schumacher remembers her past and tries to take revenge like her mother did on the first part. Perhaps it is not Tane's fault to try to take Shannon's role on this movie, but she gives everything she has to try to make of this a good movie. But the character just fits big. There's only one Shannon Tweed in the world. What's really worth to see on this film is Wendy's beautiful and fresh body who should be the star on this extremely hot, erotic, and plotless film. ...
