When Ally McBeal premiered on the Fox network in 1997, the series was already riding high on critical praise, with its upscale mix of savvy humor and hot-topic legal drama. Created, produced, and written entirely by the amazingly prolific David E. Kelley, the show immediately found an appreciative audience of women drawn to the title character's frank perspectives on dating, sex, and career objectives, and men lured by a cast full of attractive, outspoken women with vibrant personalities and flattering wardrobes. (If you think that's a sexist observation, you haven't tuned in to the show's brilliant balance of male chauvinism, feminist attitude, and hilariously turbulent office politics.)

This two-disc compilation of episodes from the show's first season is aptly titled, because Ally McBeal--a Boston lawyer played by Calista Flockhart--is defined by her seemingly perpetual singlehood, her sexual and emotional yearnings, her professional passions, and--by one of Kelley's creative masterstrokes--her flights of imagination (often visualized via amusing computer-generated effects) that give the series a constant, unpredictable edge of humor and emotional depth.

These well-chosen episodes offer a comprehensive summary of the first season's major developments, including the emotional history shared by Ally and her now-married colleague Billy (Gil Bellows); the notorious "dancing baby" (in "Cro-Magnon") symbolizing the insistent ticking of Ally's biological clock; the amiable quirks of John "the Biscuit" Cage (Peter MacNicol); and the dubious pearls of wisdom known as "Fishisms." Here we witness the sublime chemistry of the ensemble cast, and each member is given ample time in the spotlight. Regular guest star Dyan Cannon is strongly featured in "Silver Bells," prior to the second-season addition of Nelle (Portia DeRossi) and Ling (Lucy Liu). That leaves plenty of room to establish Ally McBeal as the lively focus of the series--confused, opinionated, sexy, neurotic, frustrated, ecstatic, intelligent, emotional... and never, ever boring. --Jeff Shannon ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Do you want every bit of Ally? Come to the UK!!!
Ally McBeal is an American TV show so I do not understand why Americans have only been given this small bundle of episodes when over in my home country England we have ALL the seasons available with special features!

For you hardcore Ally fans I'll give you some handy advice. Save up for a multi-region dvd player or a computer that plays dvds. Go on over to amazon.co.uk and purchase the season box sets!

Good luck!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars UPSET!
I love the show Ally Mcbeal, and I am upset that there is only one season released here in the US! I ordered three seasons from the UK website only to get them in the mail and find out that they are not compatible with the systems of the U.S. so either way I am still with out any of the episodes! It cost me $32.00 to send it back to the U.K., and I'm not even sure amazon.uk will refund the cost of the sets! So I am out of over $100.00 trying to buy the series of this wonderful show. I am upset at the entire situation!

2-0 out of 5 stars What an insult!!
While I might be inclined to believe that the seris was a cult fav, it still was extremely popular. This DVD release is an insult to all the faithful followers and just a tease to those who are unfamiliar with the ironic yet hilarious humor. There is a bit of Ally in all of us. Does Fox even know how frustrating it is to know that Ally is available in just about every country but the U.S.? I had to buy season one off a jerk on ebay and it was burnt and it sucked! I did get season four from a fabulous person in another country. Expensive song rights or not, give your loyal fans what they deserve and make it good with deleted scenes and lots of special features!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars ally mcbeal boxed set PLEASE

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Episodes. Not so great extras
The DVD version of this series is dangerous because the story arch is so compelling you'll find yourself sitting and watching episode after episode unable to stop just to see what happens next. If you've already seen the shows you'll watch them in great anticipation of those dynamic character moments contained in each episode (Yo-Yo Ma at the White House, sparing between the Bartletts, the moment when Donna learns of the President's medical condition). It's incredibly enjoyable to spend time with these characters and Mr. Sorkin's writing tickles us and touches our hearts such that we're reluctant to leave this amazing world and these equally amazing people who populate it.

The unfortunate part of the DVD package is the extras. The commentaries are just plain awful. They are stilted, awkward and boring, offering very little insight into the making of the show, backstage with the actors or any technical information - or what we're all hoping for -- some real gossip. In the published scripts of the show, Mr. Sorkin has written introductions which provide fascinating anecdotes about what was going on around the construction of the script and/or what was the inspiration for the story. That doesn't happen on the DVD. The outtakes or gag reel is short and not very satisfying. And where are the taped interviews with the actors and show's creators? I wonder if the departure from West Wing by Mr. Sorkin and Mr. Schlamme (which seemed to happen not be their choice) has created a situation in which pulling together some meaningful documentary regarding this significant television drama undoable.

Buy the DVDs to watch the episodes over and over (and you will, I'm sure). Buy the published scripts for the real "behind the scenes" stuff that adds a bit of color and depth to an already deeply colorful and moving television show.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic First Season & Superb Second Season
I didn't start watching The West Wing till early in the second season, but it quickly became my favorite show (replacing Aaron Sorkin's other masterpiece, 'Sports Night', which had just been dropped by ABC). It was killing me that I'd missed so many episodes, so I was ecstatic when I heard that Warner was finally releasing the first season on DVD! Having the episodes on DVD is great, even for episodes you've seen. If you've seen The West Wing, you know how rapid-fire the dialogue is; with DVD, it's easy to back up a few seconds to catch a line you missed.

Sorkin is an amazing writer. He is able to weave a compelling and entertaining storyline involving real issues facing our country and world. The characters debate those issues in a way that illuminates both sides of the argument. You'll likely find yourself thinking, 'I'd never looked at it that way', at least a couple times every episode. It may be fiction, but it is fiction that inspires hope that our political system CAN work.

The show is definitely a thought-provoking drama, but that certainly doesn't mean it's dry or boring. There is a huge dose of witty banter and a fair share of light-hearted sub-plots in every episode. Great writing, great acting, great sets and music, all come together to form what has become my favorite TV show ever. Get these DVD's to get caught up on early episodes you missed, or to revisit the incredible beginnings of this masterpiece.

With its series-finale episode, Dawson's Creek summed up its six-year run on the WB Network with a sweet and sad tale of reunion and farewell for old friends, soul mates, and lovers. The friends are now 25 and living new lives: Dawson (James Van Der Beek) is in Hollywood executive-producing The Creek, obviously based on his own life and considered "the new hit teen soap at the WB"; Joey (Katie Holmes) is a book editor in New York with a serious beau; Jen (Michelle Williams) is a single mother; Pacey (Joshua Jackson) is the relatively respectable owner of the reborn Icehouse Restaurant; and Jack (Kerr Smith) is teaching at the high school and struggling with his relationship.A wedding brings everyone together in Capeside, but tragedy strikes, and the remaining friends are left to consider their lives and what they want to do with them. Whether or not you agree with the final choices, of course, probably depends on who you've been rooting for.

The extended cut of the finale runs 104 minutes, about 16 longer than when it was broadcast in May 2003.Unlike deleted scenes on movie DVDs, each addition seems like a useful part of the story, and the DVD borrows a helpful feature from the Lord of the Rings extended editions by designating on the chapter menu which scenes are new or extended. Some differences are minor, but there are significant new scenes with Joey at work, Joey and her boyfriend (Jeremy Sisto of Six Feet Under), Joey and Dawson's reunion in Capeside, and Pacey's conversation with old flame Andie (Meredith Monroe).

As they did for two episodes of Dawson's Creek: The Complete First Season, creator Kevin Williamson (who co-wrote the finale) and executive producer Paul Stubin provide a commentary track in which they discuss the new scenes and which characters were originally intended to end up together. There are also four scenes that were filmed for the original pilot presentation (not the finished pilot shown in season one) then reshot. There's a small but important difference in the last scene, Pacey meets Tamara Jacobs in a different video store, and Dawson's dad is played by a different actor before the role was recast with John Wesley Shipp. --David Horiuchi ... 5-0 out of 5 stars All Good Things Must Come to an End
I caught the series finale on the original air date on the WB. It was both fantastic and heart breaking. It brings the 6 friends back for a wedding. But soon the heart warming reunion turns sour with the news of a friend harboring a heart breaking secret. When the secret is revealed it makes the friends look at themselves.

When Jen tells her daughter to believe in God, is the most powerful scene in the whole show. This coming from a girl who would avoid churches and any mention of God. Jen has difinitely changed throughout the six season on the WB.

Joey resides in NY with her current boyfriend. But when she makes an unexpected return to The Creek, old feelings rise up again. But in the end she gets what she wants without feeling guilty about hurting anyone else.

Although this show is called Dawson's Creek, I don't believe that means Dawson should get the girl. Although he doesn't get the girl, he gets a highly sucesessful show and gets to meet is all-time favorite film maker.

Pacey still gets in trouble with older women, and owns the new Ice House. Pacey is another example of a character that has changed throught the airing of this show. He goes from a troubled-slacker, to someone who has things figured out, for the most part.

Jack finally gets his man! But in the end loses the most important person in his life, Jen. They were, in my eyes, soulmates. Not as lovers, but as life long friends. He is also in a relationship with a secretly gay man (Who knew is would be Deputy Doug. Didn't he claim to be a straight man all these years?)

In the end, they all get what they wanted. And figured some things out along the way. Joey made the right choice. Pacey was the right man for her. He made her happy, and they both had strong feelings torward eachother. Dawson was her soulmate, as a friend. He got what he wanted either way.

We left these 6 friends on TV, but we now can have them on DVD!! GET THIS DVD!! This will be a great UNCUT version of what was aired. Andie should have been apart of the airing of the show, but we still get to see what she turned out like on the DVD. I wish they could have brought all the rest of the characters through out the years back, like Audrey, Drue, and Gretchen. But either way, it is a great ending to a GREAT show!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pacey and Joey: True Love
First of all i have to say that I have been a Dawsons Creek fan since the first episode. Granted there were some episodes i didnt really like, i watched them anyways. I never missed one. I think that the finale show was brilliant. Honestly, you can't tell me that Dawson and Joey just make a terrible couple. They are best friends and have always been best friends. You can't throw them at eachother and make it work. When they were together when the show first started, they spent more time trying to come up with reasons why they should be together, than just being happy together. All Dawson did was complain about everything and cried like a little baby. Come on, i know that all the girls around the world would agree with me that they would rather be with a guy like pacey. A guy who acts like a real man. Pacey and Joey have always found a way back to eachother. Plus, he was her "first". At the ski lodge, is when i knew pacey and joey were meant for eachother, just by the way she was talking to him, and also i knew when he turned that girl down because he knew he loved joey. Yeah, Pacey turned a girl down... for true love. One of the best episodes was when Joey left Dawson that summer to go with Pacey. Right there tells you that she loves him more than anything, and most of all more than Dawson. Joey and Pacey ending up together was the best way to end the show not just because it gave the fans a twist, but because its true love, and true love conquers all. great ending to and awesome show!! great job kev

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Series Finale of Any Show I Have Ever Seen
When I saw this episode when it first aired, I was blown away. It was the best 2 hours of television that I have ever seen.

It takes place four years in the future, which I thought was a great idea. It let us see our favorite characters in the real world after college, and it was good.

Joey's now an editor, Jack's an English teacher, Dawson is the writer and director of his own show The Creek, which was based on the indepedent movie he made during the second season of the show. Jen is a mother to a beautiful baby girl, Amy. It's said that her boyfriend knocked her up and then left her. I would assume that the boyfriend wasn't Jensen Ackle's character, who we last saw her with because he seems like too nice of a guy to do that, but they never really say who it was.

The gang is in town for Dawson's mother's wedding, and the first hour has to do with the death of one of the cast, which is very heartbreaking, I cried many times, while the second deals with the love triangle that is Pacey, Joey and Dawson.

I loved the finale when it aired in May, but when I heard that there were deleted scenes in the dvd, I had to buy it even though I had the other on tape. It was well worth it, if just for the return of Meredith Monroe as Andie. The best addition was at the very end when they show clips of all of the most important scenes of the last 6 years. It's very touching.

I would definitely recommend buying this whether you saw it when it aired, or if you have yet to see it.

It is an excellent episode.

3-0 out of 5 stars All Good Things Must Come To An End...
All in all, the series finale for Dawson's Creek is quite satisfying. Excellent performances, interesting storylines/scenarios, suspense, sheer conflict and resolution. In terms of entertainment, it portrayed what a true finale should be. It brought things full circle and didn't seem rushed. One thing did irk me, though, and this bothers me with any show: the re-writing of history (example: Joey always knew? Um, I thinketh not..) It truly is an issult to viewers who've watched a show non-stop. It's sloppy, and very poor writing. But nothing's perfect, and the finale definitely could've been a lot worse considering the last few lackluster seasons of 'DC'. It closed things out, at least. Maybe not in the best way, nor with the best tactics... but closed it out nonetheless.

1-0 out of 5 stars Huge Disappointment
It was bad enough that in the beginning, after Joey's longtime feelings for Dawson, their first kiss and their move into a relationship, she starts having doubts and breaks off the relationship.

But we could let this pass in the name of teenage angst, or "let's find new plot twists to make show interesting".

But ending the show with Pacey and Joey getting together, when there was so much magic and chemistry between Dawson and Joey, is just bad writing.

We watch these types of television shows to escape, and to get the happy ending that we perhaps did not get in real life. The main guy always gets the girl.....But more than that, Dawson and Joey, that was something special....

Had this been the ending I would have bought all the seasons. As it is, I will not waste my money. ... Read more

For a while, Designing Women captured some of the spirit of Hollywood's silkiest and smartest, Golden Age sophistication. Debuting in the fall of 1986, this half-hour sitcom--about four Atlanta belles who either owned or worked for an upscale interior design firm--seamlessly blended an understated glamour with razor-sharp dialogue, polished Southern grace, and a ripened female perspective--a sort of perfumed but unequivocal feminism for college-educated women over 30. The core cast of stage and film veterans--Delta Burke, Dixie Carter, Annie Potts, and Jean Smart--was unusually strong, and their characters' problems and conflicts were unique to adulthood rather than the protracted adolescence common among today's comedies. The five episodes on this disc represent some of the show's strongest material, including season two's "Killing All the Right People," which--for its time--was bold in introducing a character dying of AIDS complications. Also quite witty is "Reservations for Eight," in which the Georgia quartet and their lovers bicker over gender stereotypes. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Four Southern Belles Sitting on a Veranda
From 1986 to 1993, Desiging Women aired weekly and caught the attention of millions of viewers. Now the series can be seen on Lifetime. But what better than to own a piece of one of televisions' funniest comedies!?! The original cast of Designing Women were one of televisions best combinations of their time. To be the first release for Designing Women...This one has to be a smart one. It is a very clever way to show everyone who wants a little taste of the series just what Designing Women is all about without paying the big bucks for a complete season. This Show, by far, has touched on many topics that have shown a different look at the silly and the sad times of our lives. From Mary Jo's desire to get bigger breasts...to dealing a friend who is H.I.V. positive...to dealing with the coping of weigh gain, the girls of Sugar Bakers' have been through it all. Although "all" of my favorites aren't included on this DVD (simply because it would be hard to put a low enough price on a "top 25" dvd) this DVD is one that fans of Desiging Women will cherish. I recommend to anyone who is just wanting a good laugh and to set back and see just how funny life can be...GET THIS DVD!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Rest Of The Episodes on DVD Please!
When I was 21 Designing Women first aired on TV and I thought it was a very clever show with witty dialogue and interesting characters, Charlene, Julia, Suzanne, Mary Jo, Anthony and Bernice. I'm glad the show is on DVD but it only seems to be one DVD and it's just a best of DVD, I think the whole show should be on DVD in season sets. I have a lot of favorite episodes from this show but two of my favorites are the episoodes with Dub Taylor as Daddy Jones, the first one where they go to a cabin in the woods and go to the local bar and meet Daddy Jones and his crazy sons and they make the ladies dance with them to The Charlie Rich song Behind Closed Doors and Mary Jo gets a little tipsy and starts making fun of them thus making them pretty mad and I like the one where Daddy Jones shows up at Julia's place during a hurricane and hits it off with Bernice and gets the guy who played Les on WKRP drunk and he winds up running around the house in the underwear acting like he's a chippendale dancer, I would definitely love to have those episodes on DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it! Want all episodes on DVD, as well as Bloopers!
I just found out this DVD is available and will run out and get it tomorrow! I don't have to see it to know it's wonderful. This is truly one of the classic comedic TV shows of all time.

I'm sure I speak for all fans when I say that I want every last episode on DVD, as well as a bloopers DVD!

4-0 out of 5 stars I WANTED MORE FROM THIS DVD
I AM SPOILED! I LOVE MY DVD'S THAT HAVE EXTRAS IN THEM! TAKE "FRIENDS" EVERY EPISODE HAS SOMETHING NEVER BROADCAST ON TV! I AM HAPPY THAT THIS DVD IS OUT THERE BUT I WOULD OF LIKE TO HAVE SEEN INTRODUCTIONS BY THE CAST AND BY LINDA BLOODSWORTH THOMASON OR PLEASE LADIES AN AUDIO COMENTARY! IN 1990 I WAS AT THE MUSEUM OF BROADCASTING AND THEY SHOWED A 80 MINUTE REEL OF HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SHOW ( NOW EDITED DOWN TO 43 MINUTES FOR TV BROADCAST) THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT EDITION TO ANY FUTURE DVD RELEASES. THE 5 EPISODES ON THIS DVD ARE SOME OF THE BEST BUT NEXT TIME GIVE ME A SEASON! THE SHOW IS A CLASSIC AND TV NEEDS SHOWS LIKE THIS AGAIN!
THE SHOW HAD AN OPINION AND WAS NEVER AFRAID TO GIVE IT! THE SHOW STILL HOLDS UP TODAY! WILL YOU EVER BE ABLE TO SAY THE SAME ABOUT "BECKER" OR "KING OF QUEENS" OR "YES DEAR" I DON'T THINK SO

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Comedy Ever
The best of Designing Women on DVD was a terrific buy. This show is a clasic tv show that was truely hilarious then and even now. I can remember watching this show and loving it in the 80's when I was a little girl. This show like the Golden Girls deserves to be on DVD, not just as the best of but as a box set by season. Delta Burke made this show as well as Meshach Taylor. All the ladies were wonderful but they're characters are what I believe made the show so popular. What would it be without Dixie Carter's getting fired up on a subject as well, or Annie Potts drinking a few drinks and getting macho talking. Jean Smart and all her beau's that never seemed to work out except her husband Bill and all her crazy thoughts. These ladies worked and clicked well together. This is Classic TV at it's best and like I said it should be put on a boxset by season not just the best of designing women. All the episodes were the best. For example the episode where the whole gang goes on the beach weekend with the boys and Ursula is the baby sitter and in hiring her the girls become jealous while the guys druel. The episode where the girls go with the boys on the camping weekend and run into Daddy Jones and his boys and get in a fight. The episode where they have a tornado and Elmer a client of the sugarbakers comes in without his wife who is a crazy fanatic and Daddy Jones shows up to by a nice piece of furniture and meets Elmer. They go out to drink some moonshine during the tornado. Bernice gueststarred in that episode as well as crazy Vanessa, "a mind is a terrible thing to waste". The episode where Julia and Suzzanne's niece comes to town and she is a spoiled brat. The episode that Suzanne shoots Anthony. The episode of pornography and Julia runs her car into the billboard that is on the street 3 times because she despises what it stands for. The episode that the girls design the whitehouse or the governors mansion and Suzanne gets her head stuck in a banister rale that has been there for Decades and they have to saw her out of it and they piece it back together and it breaks lose later on in the show. The episode where Julia and Mary Jo take up jogging and Julia becomes a fanatic and makes a fool out of her self. The episode where Vanessa tries to transform her look and takes up an inventory counting job at Sugarbakers to get closer to Anthony. Meanwhile Anthony is with this stuck up lady who calls her BMW a beamer and Vanessa thinks a beamer is a zit. The episode where Anthony dresses up like Suzanne's maid Consuela and has to pass through INS and take a test dressed up like her so that she could stay in this country. Who could forget his hillarious laugh when he gets nervous. The episode where the design firm has that gel bed in the living room that was supposed to go to two sex crazed newly weds and they don't show up to get it and instead they don't so they end up donating it to the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army asks why the people didn't show up for the bed and Julia says that she doesn't know but that maybe they found a sandbox that they liked better. Mary Jo acts crazy and sits on the bed with Anthony and says that sitting on the bed is like sitting on a fake breast and that they should displace all the gel so when Anthony wakes up he would be on a great big mound. And there are tons more episodes that were outrageously funny. This is a must see and I give it 5 STARS. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars SAME PILOT AS ON FULL SEASON COLLECTION
Just so you know, this is the IDENTICAL PILOT THAT IS IN THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON SET. I give the show itself 5 stars, and for everyone who just wants a taste, buy the DVD. BUT if you own the first season, there is NO NEED to buy this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars What is different about this Pilot?
I was wondering if this Pilot episode is any different from the Pilot episode provided on the first season DVD set? It just seems odd that they would sell the Pilot as a stand alone episode. I had heard through different Gilmore Girl websites that the Pilot episode presented to WB execs before the show was picked up did differ slightly from the episode that viewers saw. Apparently, both Sookie and Dean were played by different characters and I believe there was some different dialogue. Anyways, if this Pilot is different from the DVD set, I would happily buy it! Can you ever get too much Gilmore Girls? And I think we all know the answer to that question ... NO! ... Read more

Frank McKlusky, C.I. is the latest movie to follow in the footsteps of the Farrelly brothers (who made Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary). Dave Sheridan plays the title character, an insurance claims investigator whose father (Randy Quaid), a daredevil stuntman, blew up while attempting a motorcycle jump. In response, Frank's mother (Dolly Parton) became a safety nut, forcing her children to wear padded clothing and crash helmets even when sleeping. Frank's one goal in life is to get revenge on two shyster lawyers who prevented his father from getting proper medical attention. But the plot of Frank McKlusky, C.I. is just an excuse for an endless series of tasteless jokes about the handicapped, gays, fat people, bodily functions, and Scott Baio. If this is your cup of tea, you know who you are. Featuring Andy Richter, Kevin Pollack, and Chyna of the WWE. --Bret Fetzer ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Sheridan Strikes Again
Yes the movie is extremely silly and outlandish...but that's the point. I thought this movie was hilarious and laughed out loud many times watching it. It is definately not everyone's cup of tea as one must possess a sense of humor to appreciate comedy. Dave Sheridan was awesome as Doofy in Scary Movie, and he's great in this too. Frank McKlusky C.I. is basically a coming of age story about a man who leads a freakishly sheltered life. His partner (he's an insurance claims adjuster) is murdered and the cops think it's suicide. It's up to Frank to get to the bottom of the case, and in doing so he changes his life for the better. Co-stars include Dolly Parton, and Andy Richter, with cameos by many notable stars. The movie has a bit of Cabin Boy flavor. Definately one for the collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie
I believe that this was a great movie that people can enjoy and lift your spirits. Andy Richter was great and Dolly Parton was beautiful and Dave Sheridan was perfect. It kept me laughing all through the movie and I recommend it to all comedy fans especially Ferrally Bros. fans.

1-0 out of 5 stars a piece of Wackness
I can see why Jim Carey even wouldn't do this film&it has his name written all over it.cliched humor&just a cheap joke of a film on a whole.ain't much to it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Frank McKlusky: Comedy Internecine (*)
After his daredevil father "Madman" McKlusky is left comatose & brain-dead after a motorcycle stunt goes horribly wrong; young Frank McKlusky is bought up to be extremely safety conscious by his overprotective mother (Dolly Parton, still looking quite sexy. Ain't botox a godsend?).
Of course all this mollycoddling has turned Frank into a big sook, and fifteen years later the grown-up Frank is still living with his mother, who insists he wear safety gear at ALL times, including a crash helmet. (Ditto Frank's dog). And his now hippie-backslash-vegetable father & his mute, agoraphobic brother Daryl who always wears a space suit. As if that isn't bad enough the entire family is addicted to reruns of old 80s sitcoms like MR. BELVEDERE & CHARLES IN CHARGE.
Frank now works as an insurance claims investigator. A job his mother feels is nice and safe for him: amusing considering whenever she hugs Frank he is nearly suffocated by her jub-jubs (not a bad way to die, really!).
The "plot" or what passes for one begins to unravel when Frank's overweight partner Dooley is found dead. It is a tragic scene: Dooley is discovered with his head dunked in a fish tank wearing nothing but his underwear. The cops declare it a "classic fat guy suicide". Case closed. But Frank remains unconvinced & with the help of his new partner Sharon (Cameron Richardson), a cute but ditzy blonde, Frank goes against the wishes of the police & his boss to find the murderer.
Written by Mark Perez & Sheridan, FRANK MCKLUSKY CI is a silly but reasonably enjoyable comedy, with cameos from Emmanuel "Webster" Lewis, Lou Ferrigno & of course; Scott Baio is soon worked into the plot- and immediately all the movies feeblest jokes begin to revolve around him. The WWE's Chyna also appears. She can body slam me any time.
The movie isn't a classic, and neither is it a flick to put on your list of movies you must see before you die; but it's not bad for killing time. The comic highlight for me is the scene where Frank goes fishing for paraplegics. That alone is worth shelling out $1 to rent the DVD. FRANK MCKLUSKY is mostly recommended to those who are old enough to remember the aforementioned sitcoms. Young kids may not get the humour in this, but generally it's pretty harmless so this is an OK movie for them to watch with guidance from an adult (unless you happen to be one of those conservative wet-blanket types). Check it out if you're stuck at home on a rainy day or if you just need a good excuse to get out of slicing the tops off your Grandma's bunions with a potato peeler.
(* in Collins English dictionary = "Mutually destructive. Deadly).

5-0 out of 5 stars I am still laughing!
I think people that did not like this movie does not have a sense of humor. Yes, this movie Is "outlandish", but one of the funniest I've ever seen. If you like "Zoolander", "There's something about Mary", "Austin Powers" or "Dumb and dumber", than this movie is definitely for you. If you find these movies stupid - skip this title. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars What Could Have Been...
I would have started out this review by saying that "LaserLight" should be ashamed for putting something like this out, but then I realized I have never heard of "LaserLight" and DVDs of this quality may very well explain why. I am a closet Wonder Years fan, and I was eagerly anticipating this "Best of" compilation. Unfortunately, all the reviews before mine accurately sum up every one of the faults of this DVD. The disc only has one episode on it, with a "Highlights" section preceding this lonely episode to round out the paltry 71 minutes of material. Admittedly, I found that the editing done during the "Highlights" portion was accomplished reasonably well, with no harsh jumps or obvious transition flaws. The section does not, however, lay any type of background down about the show or its characters before sending the viewer off to the Series Finale. Tech. wise my biggest complaint was the audio, it was atrocious. A TV show of this caliber deserves so much more and I can only hope that at some point (in the near future?) a company goes back and does it justice, for this DVD surely doesn't.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome Show
I used to watch this show when i was a little kid, right before it ended. I really felt that this show was an accurate depiction of life issues and i really feel that alot with what i am going through in high school is shown in this show with great accuracy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Show, Fair DVD
The visual side of all The Wonder Years DVDs are certainely good enough for the average viewer. The audio, however, for some reason does not contain the original WG Snuffy Walden score music. I'm sure it had something to do with licensing but its very unfortunate. The original score was so seamless and powerful, I hated to see a cheesey replacement used instead. Maybe someday we'll have a newly remastered entire series on DVD like we finally go for My So-Called Life.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the wonder years
This is the last 2 episodes of the series, the end of such a great TV show. Also some good highlights from all of the shows. If you have watched all the TV episodes, Im sure at some point in your life you have experienced The Wonder Years.

I have lost my copy of this great DVD and urgently require it.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Favorite!
In 1998, movie makers came out with another Christmas classic and it was phenomenal. Johnathan Taylor Thomas played an excellent role in this film as the teenage Santa Claus. The movie is funny, hilarious and full of holiday fun. Your Christmas collection isn't complete without this.

The movie starts out in California at college where we meet Jake (Thomas) who is planning a vacation on the beach with his girlfriend (Jessica Biel) instead of going home like she wants to. So when Jake calls his family and tells him he's not planning on coming home, his father (Gary Cole) bribes him to come home. He promises Jake if he comes home, he can have the Porsche his father restored. Now he's going home! The problem is, his college rivals play a prank on him and leave him stranded in the desert with nothing and wearing a Santa costume.

So to get home, he hitches a ride with a theif who almost killed him with his van while Jake was walking on the side of the road. Then he comes accross a cop who asks Jake for help in getting his wife back. Jake does it because the cop promises to give him a bus ticket home if he succeeds. It's hilarious how Jake does it. Then, while at the bus station, Jake sees on TV his girlfriend with Eddie, who stranded him in the desert. "I'll kill him!" So he chases down Eddie and then ends up stranded again. So he enters a Santa Claus race and the winner gets money. Of course Jake wins because he's competing against old fats guys.

I'll let you see the rest. How will he find a way to get home? "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is a holiday classic. Johnathan Taylor Thomas played the best role of his career to date in this movie. He was funny and hilarious. The movie really gets you into the holiday spirit. It always worked for me and it will work for you. Merry Christmas!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thomas and Adam LaVorgna make a great team in a movie
This was a very entertaining holiday movie. Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Jake)plays a college student who has his test cheating scheme thwarted by a rival, and the would be cheatees exact revenge by leaving Jake out in the desert, penniless, wearing only a Santa costume. This leaves him in danger of losing a Porsche that his desperate father used as a last ditch bribe to get him home for Christmas. Jake soon learns his huge ego isn't going to get him out of this predicament. Adam LaVorgna, (Eddie) who plays Jake's arch rival in the movie, stole many a scene. LaVorgna could easily have played the title role, but Jonathan Taylor Thomas, of Home Improvement fame, is more of a household name. Adam LaVorgna is a very talented actor who hopefully will get more lead roles as his acting career progresses. Walt Disney has done it again, making another great family movie that all ages can enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Annual Christmas Treat
I'll Be Home for Christmas has joined our family's stack of videos to watch every Christmas, along with White Christmas, Pee Wee's Christmas Special, the Good Neighbors Christmas Show, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The cross-country trip with a deadline and a host of offbeat characters along the way is a time-honored and successful formula. Although I was afraid Jonathan Taylor-Thomas's Jake would be too smarmy and smug to be a character you could root for, he manages to take the edge off just enough so that we are pulling for him to make it.

The grannies going to Vegas to see Tom Jones ("Santa yammied in my purse!"), the state trooper and his cow-eared waitress at the Turf 'n' Turf steakhouse, even the bouncing Santa head during the credits -- easy to take Christmas fun.

2-0 out of 5 stars Jonathon Taylor Thomas Tries, But He Can't Save This Film
Jake has no interest in coming home for Christmas and spending it with his dad, sister, and step-mother. But when his father promises him a Porsche if he's there by Christmas Eve dinner, Jake decides to spend the holidays with them. Only things aren't that simple. A scheme to help some jocks cheat on a final backfires, and he finds himself in the desert in a Santa costume. Now, he must use all his wits to get from California to New York before the deadline.

I remember thinking this film would be fun when it first came out. I was wrong then, and watching it again didn't change my mind. The problem is with Jake. Watching the guy lie and scheme his way across the country for an hour and a half to get a car is hard to watch. You're supposed to be rooting for him, but he's so despicable you want him to fail. And his supposed change of heart at the end is too little too late to redeem him. Because of this, the funny situations along the way aren't as funny because you don't care about the character.

Frankly, I find this disappointing because I do enjoy Jonathon Taylor Thomas's work. He's a good actor, but he can't raise the level of the comedy above poor. If you want to get into the spirit of the season, skip this and watch many of the other, better holiday themed movies available. You'll be glad you did.

2-0 out of 5 stars the end of a great show
Season 5 of the West Wing marked the end of Aaron Sorkin as a writer and Tommy Shlamme as a producer of the show. This season suffers greatly from the change. The show used to be about the day to day workings inside a fictional White House. This season is all about dealing with crisis, from the resulution of the kidnapping of Zoey to the death of of a long time character, to the shutting down of the federal government.etc. etc. While some of these storylines were entertaining and some downright awful(documentary ep.), it wasn't the least bit believable and seemed very similar to all the other dramas on network tv.This is clearly the weakest season of once great show, they got things going in the right direction again during season 6, but the glory days are behind us unfortunatly.

5-0 out of 5 stars West Wing Season 5
Being from the UK I already own this DVD,
We do get them earlier than the US does, on average it's about 6 months earlier, however the US versions get extras when they are released, whereas the UK and other parts of the worlds versions do not get any.(Also ours tend to be about twice as expensive!)
So it's a tough decision wether to get it early without extras or wait and get them.

As far as the season goes, sure it is different from the first four, it was always going to be after Aaron Sorkin left.
The season opener is fantastic, the piece of music at the end will give you that same feeling as any of the best moments of the last four years.

Over all that are some great moments in this season; there are some weak moments too, but this is still the best written, best acted, witty, intelligent and engrossing piece of television around at the moment. (Oh yeah, the moment with big bird is hilarious)

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazon UK has it!!!
Why is it that Amazon UK has already released this title but Amazon US hasn't???

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth it!
In my opinion, this season was really the end of the decent episodes of west wing. Shortly after the first few, aaron Sorkan left, and WW has spiraled downword until it has reached the point that it has for season 8. I would love to get the 5th season, especally for the beginning where Bartlet's daughter was kidnapped (well the conclution from the cliffhanger season 4)
I and many more West Wing fans agree. We would love to see this season on DVD in the near future.

5-0 out of 5 stars best tv seris.!!

4-0 out of 5 stars I will be VERY disappointed!!
I am a huge fan of Dawson's Creek!I love the Pacey and Joey relationship.I have to admit that season six does not even come close to one of my favorite seasons, but it still has those few good episodes of Pacey & Joey together again.I have been faithful in purchasing every season as soon as it has been released & the series finale.I think it would be very wrong of the studio to release all of the seasons and not the final one.PLEASE hurry & release season 6!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dawson's Creek
I love this show and I really will cry if the whole show doesn't get released! I was so happy when I saw the first shows come out! Anyone who has never really been interested in this show--the first couple shows are a little cheesy but as the show develops the actors really get into it and it defiantly resembles high school life!

3-0 out of 5 stars Disapointing
It's true, the final season of DC didn't satisfy our expectations: Joey Potter's character over-used, boring stories with teachers (as usual: season 1,5), and characters who are living their lives far away from each others... It breaks no agreement that the magic of the TV show kind of disapeared in this season, but some good episodes (601-2, 615, 621, 623-4) explain why i will buy this last season anyway...

2-0 out of 5 stars Aw-aw-awful!
This season, compared to the first four ones, is utter crap. Starting from season 5 all the characters and the things you loved about Dawson's Creek are destroyed one by one. There were some nice moments in season 5 though (Dawson & Jen at the film festival, Mitch's dead, the Joey-only episode). And even season 6 has such a nice moment. It's the episode #615/119 "Castaways" which locks Joey and Pacey in a supermarket at night where they find back together (and Pacey finally gets rid of his awful goatee!) I really recommend this episode where you can watch the two having fun playing the old Joey and Pacey. And far away from the season 6 reality the old magic is back again. Dawson's Creek just wasn't made to take place outside Capeside. The two final episodes are really good (and heart-breaking) too. The rest is better not spoken of.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dawson's Creek Season 6 DVD
OK, I just bought season 5 of Dawson's Creek the other day on DVD. What makes me mad is that so much stuff got cut out. With the new music & this time they went as far as to cut some scenes out, this is pathectic! Also, there is not one special feature in the set! Why are they putting such little effort into these DVDs? This was a great show, & them releasing these DVDs is a punch in the face for fans. I own the first five seasons & the series finale. I know that they can release these DVDs with the original music, they're going way too far & pretty much butchering the show. The sets say "complete" on them, that is not complete people, it's pretty much lying right on the cover. Season 6 better be an improvement, with music, scenes, & special features. I am writing this item 3 stars right now, but I do not know what exactly it will be like. But, looking at the other sets, I am predicting this to be yet another disapointment. I guess we'll see. ...
