5-0 out of 5 stars Roy Dupuis-World class Actor- Best series I've seen...
If you love the spy dramas and the intensity and talent of a James Dean type film actor, but in a television series, buy this gem of a series, you won't regret it. Roy Dupuis is that rare diamond like a James Dean... but add an utterly unique and captivating masculine expression of strength, tempered by an inner humility that is beauty in motion. Then add an almost yogic-like equanimity about this actor that kills (the bad guys), without hatred, that loves without speaking, that "is" so subtly... you can't miss him.He is not acting, he is "being" in a way I have never seen done before.Roy Dupuis is able to bring to the screen something that commands you to see a certain nobility, an innocence, and an unspoken goodness, if you will, while managing to surive the loss and oppression that are inherent in being an operative at Section One (especially if you are Michael, the character he plays). Section One being the most covert anti-terrorist group on the planet. In a reality that is as intense as any I've seen in a television series, where life and death hang in the balance moment by moment, he remains utterly untouchable in his perfection, for eyes that have eyes to see... I don't know how else to say it.This is far beyond a sexual charisma, though that is there, but he is way beyond that. This man is an extraordinary talent that I have yet to see the likes of... This actor has an almost spiritual charisma that trancends any peformance by an actor that I have ever seen. And the series is the best I've ever seen, mainly due to his presence. It keeps you riveted to one great episode after another.Peta Wilson is his perfect compliment as Nikita-- together they make this series happen. In my life I have never been so affected by an actor: American, or European and the series, as I said, is the best I've seen in my life. The undercurrent of tension in his sublimated love for Nikita (that is death to them if revealed), is intensely beautiful to watch played out by this duo.Roy Dupuis, I am thankful you have graced the planet while I am alive to see your work.Roy Dupuis is able to tap somethingclose to perfection in this character. Now I can't wait to see the rest of this man's body of work.Bravo!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best shows ever!
I bought season 1 and it is quite possibly the best show ever (besides Buffy). They need to release season 2 now I'm dying to see what happens!!

4-0 out of 5 stars confusion
I think it is amazing the amazon can't seem to get this right. Is it collections? Is it 2.1, 2.2, etc? I took a tip from other reviews and went to bestbuy and got what I want. It was more expensive, but my time is a premium to me. All I wanted was order. Good luck finding it here.

3-0 out of 5 stars Confusion still rules
After spending more time than I would like to admit, on trying to figure out what combination of Andromeda Season 2 Volumes and or Collections I would have to order to end up with a complete Season 2, I stumbled upon the customer reviews for Season 2 Collection 4. I was amazed that people were having the same problem over 6 months ago. What is amazing is that Amazon has yet to fix the problem. I guess I'll give up like they did and buy this at Best Buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars We want to know the EPISODE NUMBERS!
A couple of the reviews below pointed out why I didn't buy this from Amazon. I don't know what I'm getting. I know the EPISODE sequence of the show. I know what I don't have...I DON'T know that this collection will give me EP
The Dance of the Mayflies
In Heaven Now are Three
The Fair Unknown
Immaculate Perception
The Knight, Death and the Devil
And if I don't KNOW that I'm going to get it from Amazon I'm not buying from them.

1-0 out of 5 stars I'll buy mine elsewhere
If Amazon isn't going to correct this problem then I'll purchase mine elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Andromeda: Season 2, Collection 4
This is not so much a review as an explanation of the "error" described in the prior review posted by another customer. There is not really an "error" on the part of the manufacturer, but rather confusion in the way our partners at Amazon.com have chosen to list the products.

I have tried to explain this "problem" to Amazon's customer service group before, but failed to get the point across.

The Andromeda series is being offered up in two separate DVD "formats", if you will... One being in "volumes" which contain two episodes on a single DVD and the other being "collections" containing four or five episodes on two DVD's.

Amazon has mis-matched these and the listing for "collection" number four shows the cover art for "volume" four - this is why the episodes don't match.

Since I could not get Amazon Customer Service to acknowledge the problem and tell me which was the collection and which was the volume, I just bought the title at my local Best Buy.

It turned out the collections were cheaper at BB and with no shipping charges. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome DVD
I was highly impressed with this DVD. I wasn't expecting much from it, but I was blown away by the graphics and the outcomes of our choices. Although it isn't Lucy Lawless providing the voice of Xena, they picked a pretty good vocal double. The DVD is excellent, a must have for any Xena collector!

4-0 out of 5 stars May Not Be What You Think
This is a pretty kewl DVD for what it is. I bought it knowing that there was a 3-D adventure on there, and it's good for what it is. However, I also thought that the actual episode "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was also on it. The Actual episode is *NOT* on there as well. It is just the 3-D adventure. The animation of it is adequte and very reminiscent of the Xena game for Playstation if you've seen that. The computer animation isn't as good as the new Johnny Quest series on Cartoon Network . The voices are not the same as the episode (i.e. Xena, Gabrielle, Joxer, Bacchus, Orpheus) - they are not voiced by Lucy Lawless, Renee O'Connor, and Ted Raimi. However, the actors try to do as best as they can to at least imitate the spirit of the characters, though Gabrielle is sometimes played a little too young and melodramatic, but that's also some of the writing. Zeus and Hera narrating the story are hilarious. Hera is very reminiscent of Xena's disguise of "Ezra" in the 3rd season episode, "Vanishing Act." Nothing like Meg Foster as Hera in "God Fearing Child," but very funny in a Fran Drescher sort of way. Also, you can not fast forward this or skip to chapters or anything. If you want to try another choice, you have to start all the way at the beginning. Still, it's nice to see scenes that could have been in the episode and some great lines, like Bacchus referring to Joxer as the "stupid funny man," or all the times Xena and Gabrielle get to tell Joxer to shut up. Joxer fans, don't fear, he has some good lines of his own. The possibility of different endings is nice, and it definitely will require multiple viewings before you can experience all of the different choices. Also, ignore the picture of Xena and Callisto on the cover. Callisto is not in this - at least, I haven't found her in it. However, for a big Xena fan like me, it's pretty kewl to have, especially to impress fellow Xena fan friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interative DVD
This an DVD is interactive 3D adventure. It does not star Lucy Lawless, it is a 3D animated adventure. However, it is still a MUST HAVE for Xena fans. Use your remote control of your DVD player to make choices as decide what Xena will do next. You decide what happens next, which weapon to use, and more. It is very cool. If you don't like making choices, just watch the movie and it will still play out. I believe it was adapted from one of the shows and several "multipaths" were added.

Also, another title coming out soon is Superman, Menace of Metallo. If you like this one, check it out too.

Very cool way to use your DVD player...

5-0 out of 5 stars OH COOL! It's an INteractive GAME DVD!
Hi all! This is my second review, agreeing that I made a boo boo below. At first, I thought this was only the episode. As it turns out, it's the episode PLUS an added twist. You get to decide the fate of the story by selecting what moves our dynamic warrior women will do. Xena (Lucy Lawless) Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor). All right! A Xena game for a great price. Hope they do more like this. Yiyiyiya!

3-0 out of 5 stars Xena - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - IS A DVD GAME -
Just to clarify, this DVD is a multi-path interactive adventure. Bacchus, the great God of Wine, had always been a kind and benevolent God who reveled in love and happiness--until something terribly evil happened that changed him. Bacchus has spawned an army of fanged vixens, the Bacchae. They are attacking and recruiting young village girls, and killing everybody else. You join Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer to find out why Bacchus has gone mad. Together you can stop him, before it's too late. Only you can decide Xena's possible fate. ... Read more

High emotion and plenty of butt-kicking saturate this finale of one of the best action series of all time. Hardcore nutball Xena fans have doubtless already seen this episode and will want to revisit it, but casual viewers may want to get up to speed with the Xenaverse before watching (or else they'll miss out on a few seasons' worth of emotional resonance). In their final adventure, Xena (Lucy Lawless) and Gabrielle (Renée O'Connor) travel to the Land of the Rising Sun to clear up a bit of Xena's dark past and defeat both personal and tangible demons. Their quest, packed with action sequences, of course focuses on Xena and Gabrielle's evolving relationship. Producer and series co-creator Rob Tapert directs, giving the show some eye-popping moments and a quick homage to his Evil Dead movies. The weighty finality of the show means that it's missing some of the series' trademark sense of humor, but some fun still sneaks in around the edges. Lawless and O'Connor give excellent performances, and Joseph LoDuca's music, as it should, sends us off. Whether or not you agree with the way the series ends, you'll want to own this one. --Ali Davis ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Awsome Finale
This Director's cut of the contriversial series finale of Xena is amazingly emotional as well as action packed. Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor are at thier best as Xena and Gabrielle. A very poetic and symbolic ending to one of the greatest adventure stories ever. The Director's cut is so much better paced than the televised two part version. With audio commentary by Lucy and Renee as well as director Rob Tapert and a making of documentary make this a great addition to any Xena collection.

2-0 out of 5 stars Buy only to see Renee's acting
I've watched the series since the beginning, have every episode on tape and the show will always remain one of my favorite series. However, FIN, even with the 30-minute extra footage is still bad, barely understandable, and full of holes. Why would anyone introduce ANOTHER storyline during a series finale is beyong reason. This story could have been told eariler during the season, and the final could have been focused on Gabrielle's attempt to bring her back (successfully or unsuccessfully). But to focus on Xena's past "crime" in Japa and her effort to redeem herself once again is silly.

Buy the DVD only to see the spectacular job that Renne O'Connor gives 110%. Gabrielle was totally believeable. Xena...that wasn't Xena. Maybe we can say it was all just a dream....

5-0 out of 5 stars I thought the series finale was a fitting end to the series
I'm looking forward to seeing the directors cut since I did enjoy the series finale.I wish they had wrote season four and five with that intensity as they did for "When Fates Collide and Friend In Need I/II".I might have continued to watch the series but towards the middle of season four it seemed the writers had ran out of ideas and it seemed that every other episode the characters were breaking into song and dance or storylines made you scream at the television.....where's the plot?
This DVD Lucy,ROC and Tabert do a commentary during the showing of the finale, explaining what went where, why they did this instead of that.If you ever watched Mystery Theater it plays out the same way.You also have your other option of just watching without commentary.A few additional scenes that are added explain a little bit more. The behind the scenes is awesome and ROC actually climbed down that cliff to get to the urn!
Xena went out the same way she started on Hercules,as a Warrior!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very sad but good!!
This story line is great and it ties into the Greece story line. Because Xena travels from Greece to her FINAL destination. It is the very last episode. The directors cut is better than the series final that was broadcasted on TV. I own both. It is sad to see her go. But it was time for the Xena series to end. I have been collecting a lot of Xena series. I have one more to go and I have them all. My honest opinion is that the last 2 series are some of the best written always keeping you on guard to what is to come next. Xena will always live on in the hearts of her fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once again the day is saved...but gone forever...
I have never seen a better series berfore in my life. Although I have only seen it once, I feel as though I am connected. I am sure others would agree that if they have seen it once they would like to see it again and just capture the moments. When Xena died I felt a part of me go with her. I want to see her entire series all over again. I may not have brought a DVD or book yet but it seems i will soon. Gabrell and Xena belonged together forever but now Xena is gone. I watch Hercules every day now and hope that an episode with Xena will show. I LOVE YOU XENA!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars donita rose is great in this picture
ok,
so we know what to expect from the knightrider/baywatch guy david hasselholf but there is a glimmer of hope here for american viewers. MTV VJ donita rose costars in this movie playing a young woman raised in america returning the philippines to meet her lost father.

donita rose was raised in america and went to MTV Asia to become a world wide sensation. the ending of the movie is a little much when donita's character smooches with knightrider but let's just say KITT would be jealous.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo! A standing Ovation Hasselhoff's Best performance
I really wasn't sure on choosing a title for this review I didn't expect a box of tissues at the beginning of the movie. If you love children be prepared it's only a movie. Somehow David Hasselhoff chooses scripts where the character gets involved with a beautiful woman that equals to trouble ahead. After taking pictures he shouldn't have he winds up at the police station and a cop you know Jack (Hasselhoff)would love to belt. An excellent preformance by Rod Stieger as the bad guy chasing down lost money. I was really glued to this movie Hasselhoff gave a very strong performance as a dramatic actor before you know it the movie is over with. As with Layover the ending is very surprising not what I had expected. Rod Steiger as Sadler confronted Jack and Lana about the money...again both Hasselhoff and Steiger were excellent. Now I am waiting for a movie with David Hasselhoff, Pamela Bach and Steiger which I am sure would be a bigger hit. David keeps getting better.

5-0 out of 5 stars David Hasselhof
This movie is in line with David Hasselfoot's previously reviewed music efforts. His long efforts with the series "Night Rider" created a personea that is indescribable. Time has only served to bring into focus his unique abilities, as is evidenced in this DVD. The commentary on this disc is particularily noteworthy.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best movies of David Hasselhoff
This movie is one of the greatest movies of David Hasselhoff.
It is a really suspense-packed, with a lot of action and a really sexy David Hasselhoff. He is my favorite actor and singer. At the TV end titles sings David Hasselhoff a very good song. I can advisable this movie. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Forgettable.
What do you get when you have John Woo direct a movie in which bloodshed is not allowed, the actors are all terrible Canadian nobodies, and the general feel is that of a TV-show pilot?

That's right, you get Blackjack.

Well, you also get this weak little remake of his 1989 Hong Kong film, but without Chow Yun-Fat and Jacky Cheung.

5-0 out of 5 stars When will they release the whole series on DVD?
They SO need to release the whole TV series on DVD. Hurry up John Woo some of us were disappointed that the series got cancelled!

1-0 out of 5 stars Warring: this film [is bad]
Warring this is not a good film. The screenplay is bad, the acting is bad, and about every thing about this film is bad. John Woo is a good director; this is not a good film. Woo's Hollywood success with BROKEN ARROW and FACE/OFF emboldened FOX TV to remake Woo's Hong Kong action comedy hit ONCE A THIEF (1992) for TV. Wath we got was nothing more then a movie that rips off Woo's (good) Hong Kong films (a little bit of HARD BOILED can be seen in the film) with a no name TV movie stars (like Nicholas Lea) who wood bee better off acting in plays or something like that. This film was also to be a pilot for a TV program it looks like they got the ratings in this film [is bad] (you may know that by now, but I hate this film). The story (if there is one) is set in Hong Kong and then in Vancouver but that is all I wath to put to words, the rest is too dumb (or has been used before in the 92 film). Look for the 1992 film. The video is a "Never before Seen R-rated Director's cut", but there is no blood or nothing in it. A much better Woo U.S.A. made film is HARD TARGET.

1997. TV Film. ??? MINS.

Rated R For Violence.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun start to an even better series
While I won't call this movie high art, it was a lot of fun to watch. And ignore the...comment. While the show has not yet aired in the States (but will be on many ABC stations next fall), it was turned into a series that was much better, including episodes that satirized everything from Waiting for Godot and the Maltese Falcon to James Bond and X-Files.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Ok let me say that I saw this movie on TV a few years ago and I was intrigued when it was called "John Woo's Once a Thief" because the original (Chinese version, 1990)with Leslie Cheung and Chow Yun Fat is one of my favorite movies. This movie had none of the slapstick laughs and rapport that Cheung, Chow, and Chung had in the original. The acting quality was also very poor. So for all of you seeing this washed out and weak version, do yourselves a favor and see the Chinese version. ... Read more

Mutant X takes the useful SF trope of the mutant minority persecuted by the state and adds potentially interesting spins. The charismatic villain Mason Eckhart of the Genetic Security Agency (Tom McCamus) professes an ideology of service and sacrifice for which many mutants fall, unaware of his genocidal and exploitative real intentions--though his habit of dumping failed minionsinto glass tubes for subsequent vivisection might give them a clue. A quest for redemption underlies the apparent smugness of Adam (Michael Shea), the good guys' mentor, who used to work for the GSA's front, research company Genomex. The pretty central quartet themselves--fierce acrobatic Shalimar, reliable density-shifter Jesse, laddish electro-boy Brennan, and sensible mind-twister Emma--alternately rescue new mutants from Eckhart and neutralize those who are threats. In "The Shock of the New," shopgirl Emma discovers her powers of persuasion have made her the target of murderous Eckhart and his henchman Thorne. Rescued by Shalimar and Jesse, she refuses their offer of passage into the mutant underground and is attacked a second time. Captured rescuing Emma, electricity-shooting Brennan is forcibly recruited into Eckhart's kidnap squads in "I Scream the Body Electric." Can he be rescued or avoid corruption? --Roz Kaveney ...
