The sixth Pokémon feature may well rank as the most satisfying entry in the series because the filmmakers avoid the overblown threats of the earlier films. Ash and Brock are joined not by Misty, but by May and her little brother Max, on a trip to a festival. Butler the magician and his assistant Diane introduce them to Jirachi, a wish-granting Pokémon that emerges every thousand years, when the Millennium Comet appears in the sky. Max and Jirachi quickly bond. Butler tries to exploit the energy Jirachi receives from the comet to regenerate an extinct Pokémon. He accidentally creates a monster that Ash, Max, and Jirachi have to defeat, but it's not the kind of world-threatening menace that throw the previous Pokémon features out of balance. Adults may find the film tedious, but Pokémon-playing children will enjoy it. (Not rated, suitable for ages 6 and older: minor cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jirachi Wish Maker's A Highly Recomendable Adventure!
Pokemon Advanced (aka Pocket Monsters: Advanced Generation) is one of my absolute favorite anime seasons and in my opinion far better than the Johto seasons. Naturally, I had high hopes for the movie and wasn't very dissapointed, either.

The first Advanced Generation movie features many new changes that I'm asuming will be present for the future films as well. There's no opening music video with the theme song, giving a bit more mature look. The intro is different as well, with the new changes to have the film fit the changes the series went through as well.

I was surprised with Jirachi Wish Maker (in the Japanese version called The Wishing Star of the Seven Nights). It stared Max more so than any other character...even Jirachi. Personally, I liked that because Max is one of my favorite characters. There are several adorable scenes featuring Max and Jirachi, and you can't help but feel bad for Max by the end.

Jirachi Wish Maker also featured a lot of romance, something that most wouldn't expect in a Pokemon movie. No, it's not between any of the main characters...it's with the two new ones Butler and Diane, who guest star in this film. But for those looking for a little "shipping" with the main characters, hints of pokeshipping are given.

As far as art/animation and so forth, what can I say, the Pokemon movies are excelent. The animation's smooth (even better than the TV series) and has an interresting detailing to the backgrounds that are quite eye-catching. Another nice thing was the singer of the Japanese theme sang the English version as well, and is very beautifull. My only grudge was that pace can seem slow at first, but picks up heavily as the story progresses. For an 80-min film that covers a span of seven days, nothing seems rushed at all, though I wish they didn't save all the action and drama for the final day... but all great movies save the best things for last, right?

As for the Pikachu mini-movie: Gotta' Dance, I found it was the funniest of all the mini-movies so far. Perhaps not the best, but the funniest. Though I'm not overly nuts over the mini-movies, and the main featurettes really what I'm talking about, on that subject, I found it was highly entertaining for a 20-min short (Meowth is downright hilarious!).

Overall, Jirachi Wish Maker is excelent and a must for Pokemon fans. Viewers unfamiliar with the show don't have to worry too much, because a breif intro to the series is given in the begining. Despite the slightly slow beginning pace, I found it great and was a nice change from the usuall Pokemon films with a bright atmosphere and darker inside. Though it's not my absolute favorite Pokemon film (my two tops are the 4th and 5th films) it's pretty close. It's very adorable, entertaining, and recomendable!

3-0 out of 5 stars It was okay...
First of all,I'll start with the short,Gotta Dance. Jessie and James leave Meowth alone to give the boss,Giovanni,a welcome home party. He creates a device to make Pokemon dance. He kidnaps three Whismur and the Pokemon Kids' Pokemon try to rescue them. Meowth tries to get them back, but while doing so the stick makes them dance a number of times and completely crashes the party. Is cute and funny, and very amusing to see Meowth and Pikachu dancing together.(for all you parents, Pokemon don't have genders)THat's Gotta Dance
The actual movie is really funny in some parts, and its cute to see Max and Jirachi. They really become good friends in such a short time.
Jirachi is a Pokemon that comes to earth only when the Mellinium Comet is visible in sky, which is(hence its names)one week every thousand years. In order to wake up,it has to find a friend. It chose Max as its friend, and they become like brothers. Therefore,May is like a sister to Jirachi as well, so its hillarious the mess they get her in together. They really act very realistic, even though usually May and Max don't act like brother and sister. Jirachi was cute, exept the fact that Jirachi had an eye on its stomache was kind of wierd.
I'm also very glad Ash mentioned Misty. He didn't say her name, but I'm glad he mentioned her. My wish on Jirachi would be that Misty was not completely forgotten, which she basically is,exept when Ash mentioned her,so I geuss Jirachi can make wishes come true. Well,I recomend you order this from Netflix or rent it instead of actually buying it,but its good and definatley worth watching. The only problem is that it doesn't really have a story line, they fit every day into about a minute and the end is longer than the middle, and the ending part is actually kind of boring. But,watch it anyway, just don't buy it untli you've decided for yourself that its good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not My Cup of Tea
This movie...was iffy. Sure, I could follow the plot easy enough, but it had no real depth to the characters, like in the third. One part I liked was that it shied away from the 'Ash, go help save the world and we'll just watch' type of plot, as in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th movie...maybe 5th, but I haven't seen that one yet. The ending was kinda...lame, to tell you the truth, but the Absol was cool: could have used a better voice, though. Anyway, the third movie was the best, in my opinion. Peace out. Entei rules.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome
This movie is the best of all the pokemon movies so far!! If you are a pokemon fan this is a must have movie. Its different from all the others is why its so good plus team rocket dont blast off eather.

3-0 out of 5 stars just telling it like it is...
this movie was nothing like the first and second movies....no pokemon movie can top that. i dont have kids wb so i got very very very very confused about 'hey wheres misty? whos that other girl? whos that boy? why are ash and brock wearing different clothes???........' so im just warning you, if u havnt seen the tv shows, u will get very confused.

anyway, the song 'make a wish' was the best part of the movie. great vocal (both jap. and english) and good lyrics. the special feautures of the movie isnt so fasinating, though. the pokemon short is the third worst short behind the two pichu movies ( i HATED those two!).

now the movie. the movie went a different way this time......instead of jirachi (the wish-making pokemon) befriending ash, it befriends a new guy named max. therefore, ash is sort of a minor charector. this movie also had a romantic side to it ( butler and diane) which i thought was laughable. every time she said 'ill do anything to have the old butler back' or he said 'ill do anything to be with diana' i just soared into a fit of laughter. it was just so cheesy! o well, anyway, this movie also kind of annoyed me that they never told may's wish, which was probably ' i wish to be the worlds greatest pokemon master'...but they still never told it! i was thinking if that was what she had wished for.........she is so so selfish! how about ur little brother and his new best friend?! wish that they could stay together!!!! thats what i had hoped for...but no luck.

so, all in all, it is a fairly decent movie and i recommend it to all loyal pokemon fans. ... Read more

The fifth Pokémon movie takes Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu to thecity of Altomare, a thinly disguised Venice guarded by the shape-shifting PokémonLatios and Latias. Two new agents of Giovanni's, Annie and Oakley, are out tocapture these rare Pokémon--reducing Team Rocket to the role of spectators.Latios and Latias are linked to an elaborate, computer-generated mechanism thatdefends the city, controls the tides and brings fossil Pokémon back to life.Ash and Pikachu foil the evil plan with some help from Misty, Brock, andBianca, a girl who lives in Altomare with her kindly grandfather. The contrivedstory suggests that as far as features are concerned, the Pokémon franchisehas pretty much run dry. (The film earned less than $1 million in its U.S.theatrical release.) Extras include a Camp Pikachu short and a PokémonHeroes trivia game. (Rated G, all ages: minor cartoon violence)--Charles Solomon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another entertaining movie
I was a little skeptical when I picked up this DVD (after being a little disappointed by the 4th movie), but I was pleasantly surprised by this movie!
"Pokemon Heroes" follows the typical 'fun things happen, but then the ending is bittersweet' plot established back in the first movie, but I'm not complaining. Latios and Latias are some of the most personable legendaries that I've seen so far. The story is straightforward, easy to follow, and Ash&Co's involvement is not quite as horribly forced as in previous movies.

Unlike the earlier movies, the CG elements are not always totally obvious. (Some are, some aren't. Better than the previous movie, at least!) The music fits the scenes well. The new characters were likeable, for the most part. Annie and Oakley made interesting and entertaining additions to Team Rocket. The DVD also includes the "Camp Pikachu" short, which was one of the better mini-movies, and several addition features. The best of these was "animation stages", which let you really get a good feeling of how the movie was put together. Scouting videos from Venice are also on the DVD, and are a nice touch!

All in all, if you're a fan of Pokemon (or have someone in the family who is), I highly recommend this DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars great movie!
Pokemon has always been one of my favorite animes, the reason is because it gives the audience an upbeat and esthusiastic sensation that's hard to forget. Some people may find the TV series a bit boring, but I can guarantee you, Pokemon's 5th movie, Pokemon Heroes, is no where close to boredom since 80% of the time is filled with suspense and action.

The movie does not emphasize on the "one person who saves all" perspective, which means Ash, to my surprise, does not play the major role here; his significance in this movie is far less than that of Latias and Latios, the two legendary guardians that protect the city that looks almost identical to Venice. Unlike Pokemon 2000, Ash does not takes his enemies out with Pikachu, his courage and bravery in this movie cannot prevent the destruction of the city. This reflects that the word "heroes" in Pokemon Heroes does not refer to Ash and his gang, rather, it focuses on Latias and Latios' sacrificial actions (especially Latios).

Like all other Pokemon movies, the graphics are beautifully drawn and rendered. When Ash is running away with Latias in street alleys near the beginning of the movie, the first person view of the scenary mixed with 3D effect is truly breathtaking! It is comparable to Miyazaki's Spirited Away's 3D rendering, and to some degree, better than that of Spirited Away's.

The background musics give the audience a sensation of Venice's (though the city is not Venice in the movie), and musics can be heard most of the time throughout the anime, which do not create boredom because they match up with the atmosphere perfectly.

Pokemon Heroes is truly an amazing film, anyone who loves Pokemon animes should watch it, and anyone who's bored of the protagonist saving the entire world should watch this for a change, it will not give you disappointment!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good movie a must have.
I love this movie. It even has a little short in the begining to tell adults what pokemon is about. So adults don't get counfused when they are stuck watching it with their kids. And the relationship between Latios and Latias is so cute. It had a couple of parts that made me laugh. But in the end Latios dies and I cried. Latias holds her big brother's hand. And has to let go. And Latias watches as her big brother dissaper before her eyes. But it has a happy ending. You can see Latios and Latias flying across the city with their farther.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST MOVIE OF THE CENTURY
This is a movie to remember. This is so good. If you did not like it, then some things wrong with you.

5-0 out of 5 stars It was fantastic!!!!
I loved it. I think it is one of the best movies so far aside from pokemon the movie 2000. I was sort of disapointed about the 4th movie and was reluctant to watch the newer ones. What confuses me is that the setting of the movie is in Hoenn...right? Well, why is misty back. I mean, thats not a bad thing and I would have liked it better if misty stayed jurneying through the Hoenn region with Ash and Brock. For the most part I give this movie 2 thumbs up and recomend for u to watch it.^_^ ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon The First Movie Rocks!
I'm a Pokemon fan, and like all Pokemon fans I went to go see the movie. I was expecting an OK movie. Boy was I wrong! This movie totally blew me away. This is the best movie I've ever seen in my entire life! Even most people who think Pokemon is dumb will love this movie.

The storyplot is basically about this Pokemon named Mewtwo who decides all humans are evil after some expieriences with some people who wanted to control him and study him. He calls our heroes to the greatest battle of their life and soon Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, and some other trainers are the only ones who can stop Mewtwo's plans for world domination.

Unlike the TV show, this has a much more dramatic and action packed plot. I reccomend it to any person who likes a good movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars PKMN One
This movie's plot was deep, and Mewtwo interested me some with...well, basically everything out him. He certainly has a way of getting what he wants, that's for sure! But, yes, wasn't as good as the third, in my view, but pretty close. The plot is the ever common 'let's go save the world' gig.
I'm going out to save the world, mom!
Okay, be back by dinner, honey!
Heh...just had to add that...

5-0 out of 5 stars A mini master piece
When this movie came out on Dvd and Video I brought it the first day it came out. It's the best movie thats out there. A mini Masterpiece in my view. I also like it cause my favorite pokemon Mew is in it. And it's the only way to see Mew in Anime. People that don't know nothing about pokemon may be lost. So you should watch the first episode of pokemon to understand it better. It's a must see for pokemon fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars the first one is the best one!
I havn't seen this movie for two years and i just watched it again for the first time. I'm looking at all the other pokemon movies that have come out since 1999, and this one is way better than all the others!

First of all, great story! It kept me interested till the end. Also, this is the first and last movie were the graphics behind the charectors isn't to advanced for the actual charectors. Ya know, for example, in Pokemon: 4ever, the big Celebi wood thing at the end was too 3-d. It looked like something from pixar. That's whats good about pokemon the first.

Also, it has a great moral to it too. All the other movies are pretty much the same: if you want something bad enough and you try, you get it, or: don't be afraid, or: try your best. This movie's is: it doesn't matter how u were born (in this movie, cloned or born, but in real life, what u look like), but how you look at life and how you decide to live it is what really matters.

The only thing that could be better in it is the 'violence'. It's not really violent like blood or killing or anything like that, it's more like 'fighting to the point of death' sort of thing. But that brings me back to the moral of the story, which is the reason they were fighting in the first place. Also, this movie is sort of sad. I mean, for a while, the main charector actually dies! Then his best friend, Pikachu, is all sad and then he is trying as hard as he can to bring him back to life...........well you know the rest.

Anyway, all in all, this movie is one of my favorite cartoon movies and the very best Pokemon movie! This is a must-have for anyone who is at least interested in Pokemon!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Who cares what the critics say...
Pokemon had a good first movie. It's animation is way better than digimon's and the characters didn't look deformed. The plot was deeper and smoother. It's a must buy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with the 1st one? This is a 100% improvement!
Pokemon: the 1st movie didn't go over too well with critics or viewers(I thought it was pretty good, but it was NOTHING compared to the second one.) Firstly, there are no mistakes in this one. Secondly, it makes a lot more sense-meaning adults will like it-and it's more exciting. Even the mini-movie in the beginning is better. (Pikachu and its pals follow Togepi to a magical garden, and many Pokemon, old and new, work togther during a storm there.) Anyway, the plot for this movie is very imaginative: In an attempt to capture all 3 legendary birds for his collection, this crazy collector guy starts a huge weather problem that will soon destroy the world(because the birds control the weather)if Ash doesn't bring together the three treasures from each island-Articuno's, Zapdos's, and Moltres's. Once he does that, Lugia is summoned from the ocean, and he puts an end to the problem. It's all very fast-paced and fun, and I just can't wait to watch it again(and again and again...) Ash, Misty, and Tracy are all in it, and if you look closely at one part you can see Brock running around with kids in the back of a TV screen. But that's it for him, and even though I hate him anyway, sorry to Brock fans! Still, Poke-people will ADORE this movie. Especially if you happen to agree with me that Team Rocket is the best part of everything Pokemon. They are very important to this move, seeing as how Ash NEEDS them to save the world(watch it, you'll find out how!) At one point they actually agree to give their lives to "potect the world from devestation", and I was fretting for the rest of the film until I found out they were OK! But this is a very funny, very, VERY worthwhile movie for Pokemon fans, so don't be turned away from it because the first wasn't as hot. They've done better!

4-0 out of 5 stars Much better than the First Movie
Many people criticized "Mewtwo Strikes Back" when the first Pokemon movie was released in the US, because in comparison with the excellent Japanese version it was a mess, missing out important things that explained about the characters (such as The Birth Of Mewtwo), and it had sloppy characterization.

However, I'm pleased to say that this film is generally much better than the first Pokemon movie. The plot involves a Pokemon collector called Laurence III who wants to capture the three Legendary birds Articuno. Zapdos and Moltres - or the Gods of Ice, Lightning and Fire as they're called here. Unfortunately, this creates a huge problem with Earth's weather patterns, causing violent storms and snow, and it is left up to Ash to get them back, and return things to normal.

There are some little hints to the possibility of an Ash/Misty romance in this film - when Ash arrives on the island at the beginning of the movie, a girl called Melody kisses Ash on the cheek which makes Misty really jealous, as well as some other cute moments.

Sadly, in spite of an improved plot I believe that, as before, the choice of music stands out as the film`s downfall and the producers haven`t learnt from the mistakes they made in the first film. Apart from a few exceptions ("The Legend Comes To Life" is a wonderful track), this movie replicates the same pop-styled rubbish used in the First Movie. The remix of the TV theme song ("Pokemon World" performed by Youngstown & Nobody's Angel) is absolutely horrible, with a scratchy beat and synthesized vocals. The campaign to ban vocoders starts here...

Next time round, I would like to see a better choice of music which is less pop-orientated, but I`m not holding my breath...

Overall though, in spite of the terrible soundtrack, this is a major improvement on the First Movie which I think any Pokemon fan should add to their collection.

1-0 out of 5 stars My little sis liked it, but in my opinon ITS STUPID!
Yeah whatever, Ash has to be the stupid main character and acts like a childish kid who never goes to school, who always hangs out with his stupid pokemon and trys to earn badges and stuff like that. People who like pokemon, yeah I dont mind but for the trained eye, HE ALWAYS HAS TO SAVE THE WORLD! Ash has to get three treasures and placing them into a stupid stone and this one girl plays a ocarina.

Pros: NONE

Cons:
POKEMON ALWAYS SAY THEIR NAMES
THEIR VOICE ACTING IS HORRIBLE
BROCK IS SO FRICKEN ANOYING AROUND GIRLS
TEAM ROCKET HELPS ASH AND THEM OUT (STUPID! THEIR THE EVIL PEOPLE, NOT THE NICE ONES)
MUSIC IS DULL
ETC!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good movie but a bit of an embarrasment
This movie is great and it has my favorite Pokemon: Lugia. But the creators of this movie made Lugia an embarrasment. Anything happens to it and it falls into the sea. And I wish Lugia could actully beat up all three birds at once. But introducing Lugia`s Aeroblast to destroy Lawrance`s ship was hot. This movie also shows another of my favorite Pokemon: Articuno. This was a great movie but the Pokemon were an embarrasment

5-0 out of 5 stars This Movies Wicked!
I love this Movie!
It wasn't quite as good as the first but I still thought it was wicked. The storyline is great. It says if you try hard and believe in youself there is nothing you can't do. I think pokemon has encouraged people of all ages from around the world that they are special and have the power to make change in the world. Get this movie you won't regret it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Are you ready for the Final Round?!
Even though I'm no longer going to subscribe to Nintendo Power anymore (since my subscription is gone for eternity), I totally love this movie just like all of you Pokemon fans out there. However, this movie can be shocking at first, but once you try it enough times, it shouldn't be that shocking. Anyway, this movie contains the following:

"Pikachu and Pichu", a mini movie that takes place in the big city where the Pichu bros. try their best to guide Pikachu back home before Ash Ketchum notices his Pokemon are missing. It's very funny to see those Pokemon fight against 1 obstacle after another. Ha! Ha! Ha!

"Spell of the Unown", a major movie that takes place in the hilariously bizzare wasteland of Greenfield where everything turns to crystal. Sounds creepy does it? But not only that, you get to meet Entei, a legendary Fire-type Pokemon with the best Pokemon voice, unlike Mewtwo and Lugia which are just plain wimps. That's because those other 2 Pokemon that first existed in Pokemon 1 and 2 tend to have bad voices, but this one has a good voice.

What I do like about this movie:

"Pikachu and Pichu" has really huge laughs, unlike "Pikachu's Vacation" and "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure", plus it has more G/S Pokemon, which is superior.

"Spell of the Unown" has really good animation, good laughs, and good voices, unlike "Mewtwo Strikes Back" and "The Power of One", plus it has 3 soundtracks that has you moving and grooving to the beat, along with 2 excellent looking Pokemon (Unown and Entei) and 3 forms of the final boss, Molly.

What I don't like about this movie:

"Pikachu and Pichu" may tend to get annoying and loud at times during the film.

"Spell of the Unown" is a movie that could be too creepy for little kids, plus it's way too loud! Ahhh!

I'm sure this review will help all of you, but I'll see ya in the Special movie, Mewtwo Returns on December 4, 2001. Good luck! You'll need it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Da best Pokemon movie to date!
Simply put, this movie is beautiful! The short film, "Pikachu and Pichu", is much better than the previous shorts, basically 'cause Togepi DOESN'T get lost! The main feature, "Spell of the Unown" (or "Lord of the Unknown Tower", however you want to put it) kills both "Mewtwo Strikes Back" and "Pokemon 2000: The Power of One"! Beautifully animated and equipped with a moving plot, "Pokemon 3" is, hands down, the best Pokemon movie to date. Unlike "PK 2000", the characters in "PK 3" actually bend in with the computer-generated graphics. The plot is not as predictable as "PK 1", and it also gives a little background info on Molly and her family, so the audience actually knows what the hell is going on. Not to mention that one of the coolest Pokemon of all appears in this movie.... ENTEI! ^_^ There's only one problem with this movie. Team Rocket is in it for a grand total of five minutes! Team Twerp is way overrated! >_< Hopefully, TR will have a bigger part in "PK 4", but 4Kids may not even bother to put it in theaters, unfortunately. It just might be one of those straight-to-video films.... *sigh* All in all, "PK 3" gets two paws up, and more if I could. Even those who aren't Pokemon fans won't be dissapointed. Show your support to keep Pokemon's flame burning brightly! Ii Kanji!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Three - Entei Rules
This is the best Pokemon movie out of the five I've seen, in my opinion. The music is absolutely amazing: if they could make a REAL soundtrack with the ACUTAL music, I'd buy it immediately. You've all heard summaries of it from the other raters, so I'm not going to give one to you here. The voices of the characters match with their personalities, the plot takes a step away from Ash-Please-We-Need-Your-Help-Only-You-Can-Do-It and the 'save the world' junk. Yes, for once, Ashy-boy DIDN'T ride on a mythological being, and he DIDN'T stopped one 'undefeatable I-Am-The-Strongest-Alive' 'Mon from destroying humanity, or whatever. The characters can relate to every-day, real people as well - some are strong, like Entei, some are along a lot, like Molly, and some are so determined it's scary, like Ash...and some are just place ditzy, like James of Team Rocket. This is worth every .5 of a cent, in my view, and I would get the DVD if I could. The character also change in the movie depending on the experiences they went through, much like actual people, instead of shrugging, and saying 'okay, that's over' like a few movies had done.

4-0 out of 5 stars An okay pokemon movie
I saw this a while ago. It was ok but not the greatest movie ive seen. Ive seen the 1st 2nd and 3rd movie. I want to see the 4th and 5th movie. I kinda out grown pokemon but its ok. I like Chobits, Super Gals, Sailor Moon, And Sakura Wars there all good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
This movie was Awesome! I saw all the Movies in theatre but this one was my favorite. This movie, as with the other movies had a great message. This one says you're not alone no matter how lonely you feel and that people do care about you. It also says that if you believe in yourself then you will make it through the rough times. It shows tons of new Pokemon and the animation and script were incredible. This movie Rocks You just gotta' see it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mewtwo's Back For More!
Ash, Misty, and Brock try, but fail, to catch up with a bus to get pass Mt. Kana, a very dangerous mountain to climb. Luna, a pokemon researcher, invites them to stay at a cabin until the next bus comes. During the night, another pokemon researcher comes (sorry, I forgot his name) with a teen that goes by the name Domino. Team Rocket comes later and steals Pikachu (again) and makes their get-away in their improved balloon. They go flying up Mt. Kana and go out of control due to another storm. Ash and co. climb up the mountain to retrive Pikachu. On the way up, the rope that was hanging on to everyone crash into Team Rocket's balloon and go sailing up and into Mt. Kana. Domino later reviels her true identity as Agent 009. Meanwhile, there is a island on top of Mt. Kana and on that island is Mewtwo and the clones. Mewtwo is VERY different compared to the first movie. Unlike its usual distroy all the humans personality, it wants to be left alone with the clones on the island and live is peace. Domino spots Mewtwo on the island and informs Giovanni were Mewtwo is. Giovanni wants to capture Mewtwo again and try to take over the world again! The balloon later crashes onto the island. The pikachu clone wants to go and live were it wants, not stuck on the island, so it leads some clones and pikachu and meowth across the lake. Giovanni tries to capture the clones but is later stopped by Mewtwo. Giovanni blackmails Mewtwo by saying that if it fights his machines, he will kill the clones. Mewtwo, not wanting the clones hurt, gives itself up by walking into a force feild so it can't get away. Giovanni, wanting Mewtwo to work for him again, makes the machines hurt Mewtwo. He said that he will stop the pain if Mewtwo obays him. Mewtwo said it much rather be dead than work for him. So Mewtwo is stuck in the force feild. Ash and co. are later locked up by Team Rocket (not Jessie and James) with the clones. They later get out and run into Mewtwo in the machine. They try to get Mewtwo out, but can't stop the machines. Mewtwo then overruns the mashine with its physic powers, but at the same time hurts itself even more. The machine explodes and Mewtwo is so weak from the machine that it can barly stand up. The water on the island can heal pokemon that are hurt, and Ash and co. decide to take Mewtwo to the water, but are stop by Giovanni. Misty and Brock holds off Team Rocket while Ash takes Mewtwo to the water. (the pokemon researchers are testing the water to make sure it's not comtaminated) Ash makes it to the water but the researchers say if Mewtwo gets into the water, the water will be comtaminated. Ash, who cares more about Mewtwo than the water, throws Mewtwo into the water anyways. Giovanni comes and demands to know were Mewtwo is and tries to distroy the spring. Mewtwo flies out of the water that healed it and gets all ticked off and uses its powers to defend the water and move it to a different spot. It moved the water and erases Giovanni's memory and thanks Ash and co. for their help. Happy ending! Yay! This was an awsome movie! If you are a pokemon fan you MUST GET THIS MOVIE! It's better than any other pokemon movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kore wa koko ni ari
Ah, Myuutsuu sama ^_^ It's good to see him back in action again, for alot of people were dying to know what happened to him after the First Movie. I have seen the Japanese dub to this, and I know not to expect the same for the American version but hey I am excited about this as any hard core Mewtwo fan is ^_^

Basically the plot goes that Mewtwo is spotted by Team Rocket living on an island that seems to produce a type a magical relivitalizing water. Of course Ash and Co. stumble across a lady studying the water and thus get caught up with Mewtwo (again.) But Mewtwo has long since changed his ways, and discusses the beauty of the world with his devoted clones, to which you may remember, of Pikachu and Meowth.

Of course Giovanni wants his bought and paid for all powerful clone back, and sets about sending a whole air armarda after Mewtwo and his clones. What happens to them all, hey ya gonna hafta buy it ^_^ But when in Pokemon is there not a happy ending? ^_~

4-0 out of 5 stars Where is Mew?
After I was watching the movie I was like where's Mew. I really don't like Mewtwo but I thought if Mewtwo was going to make a second apperence Mew was too. Mew fans will be dissapionted. But over all I liked the movie a lot. So if your a pokemon fan go ahead and buy it. I gave it four stars cause Mew wasn't in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Like Mewtwo and Giovanni.
Giovanni is searching Mewtwo and Ash is protected Mewtwo from getting Giovanni back where Mewtwo belongs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Direct to video excellence
Mewtwo Returns is a very good movie that surprised me more than I expected. The idea is that Mewtwo is basically living his life with the clones in peace. Meanwhile Ash and the gang (who don't remember the origional encounter with MEwtwo) accidently stumble upon his lair after Team Rocket captures Pikachu again. Meanwhile Teamrocket leader Giovanni has discovered Mewtwo lair and wants to capture him once again. Mewtwo is currently in a Moral dilema because on the one hand he wants to battle Giovanni, but he also has grown to care about the clones. Eventually with the help of Ash he battles Giovanni and begins to understand himself.

MEwtwo Returns is another reason why the Pokemon Movies should not be overlooked. In fact I believe that it should of been in theaters instead of the third movie. However it went direct to video and was overlooked. So it should definetly be looked into. It is definetly a good watch. ... Read more

These 12 episodes from the second broadcast season (nos. 228-239 in the overallcontinuity) help to bridge the events of the first season, which tookaspiring trainer Ash Ketcham from his Pallet Town home to the Pokémon Leaguechampionships, and the later "Johto Journeys" story line. Professor Oak sendsAsh, Misty, and Brock to the Orange Islands to collect a mysterious Pokéballfound by fellow researcher Professor Ivy. When they reach her lab, Brockdecides to stay with the Professor and her three female assistants. Ash andMisty are soon joined by Tracey, a "Pokémon Watcher" in training whosketches. After the perpetually amorous Brock, he makes a rather blandcompanion. Although the archipelago boasts a string of gyms, Ash wins onlyone badge, the Coral Eye.

There's little sense of a narrative thread to thesestories as the characters wander aimlessly from island to island. They escapethe snares of the inept Team Rocket (Jessy, James, and Meowth), who stalk themin a submarine disguised as a giant Magicarp. In the weird "Stage Fright," atraveling troupe uses Pokémon as puppets, but Kay is having trouble with herRaichu: she can't get it to follow when she recites "The Rime of the AncientMariner." (They don't consider the possibility that Raichu, like generationsof English students, may be bored by the poem.) The Pokémon craze peaked longago, but the series remains a harmless, if repetitious diversion for smallerchildren. (Suitable for all ages: minor cartoon violence) --CharlesSolomon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great in-betweener between the Kanto and Johto series!!
There are some of my favorite episodes in this saga. We learn how Ash matures and becomes a much better Pokémon trainer who confronts tough Gym leaders in these islands. Although I miss Brock, Tracey provides a good support role for Misty and Ash and a much more mature outlook on things than Brock did. We finally see Ash take control of Charizard and a superb matchup between him and Dragonite in the Orange League championship! Ash really started to come along in this season which is starting to be diminished by the way the Johto series is going.
Anyway... I highly recommend this DVD and hope all the better episodes are included.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm very happy that the Orange League returns!
Yes! The Orange League is finally arriving to DVD! But the question is, will the Orange League return to "Kids' WB!"? According to "Kids' WB!", the answer is no. But don't worry, I'll show you what the 12 episodes of the 1st DVD are, but I can't give you a synopsis on each episode, because I have not yet viewed them. Oh well! Here goes:

Area 1: Spirits In The Sky
Area 2: Pokeball Peril
Area 3: The Lost Lapras
Area 4: Fit To Be Tide
Area 5: Pikachu Revolts!
Area 6: The Crystal Onix
Area 7: In The Pink
Area 8: Shell Shock
Area 9: Stage Fight!
Area 10: Bye Bye, Psyduck!
Area 11: The Joy of Pokemon
Area 12: Navel Maneuvers

That's all I have to say about the 1st DVD of the Orange League. For the 2nd DVD, I'll see ya in March 2003. I hope you'll enjoy this DVD when it is released. Oh! I forgot to tell you. Due to the September 11, 2001 strike, the episode, "A Scare in the Air", was changed to "Spirits in the Sky". Thank you, and good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a third of a season on one disk
Season two of Pokemon is the shortest yet, taking place right between the Kanto and Johto regions. Although it's taken a long time to come out, it's worth it as each Orange Islands DVD has 12 episodes on it, or roughly about four hours. This is the first set of episodes from season two (three DVD's all together), and has the introduction of Tracy, who plays a big part in this season. The DVD contains 12 episodes:

Pallet Party Panic - Team Rocket snatches Pikachu, and the only Pokemon that can save him is Charizard. Can Charizard finally obey Ash in order to save a fellow Pokemon?
A Scare in the Air - Heading for Valencia Island, Ash stops to pick up some food for the journey. When they win tickets for a blimp ride to the island, can Ash and his friends find out that it's really Team Rocket behind the contest?
Pokeball Peril - After making it to Valencia Island, Ash begins his search for Professor Ivy. After he finds the Professor, she shows him a mysterious Pokeball. What could be inside?
The Lost Lapras - Ash and Misty meet Tracy, a Pokemon watcher, and a Lapras that needs help. Will the three be able to get it to the Pokemon Center in time?
Fit To Be Tied - Ash battles Cissy, a Gym Leader in the Orange League. But battles are a lot different in the Orange League, and it may be more than Ash can handle.
Pikachu Re-Volts - Pokemon all over Mandarin Island are turning against their trainers! Can Ash, Misty and Tracy find out who is behind all of this in time?
The Crystal Onix - Ash and his friends find a message in a bottle, which leads them to Sunberst Island. Can Ash help out the person who sent the mysterious message?
In The Pink - Ash finds an island inhabited by pink Pokemon! But they meet up with Officer Jenny, they learn that Pokemon Poachers might have found the island as well.
Shell Shock! - Traveling to a remote Island, the group hears news of a fossilized Kabuto. But someone didn't want to fossil to be found, and tries to get it back.
Stage Fight! - The team goes to the Pokemon Carnival where Pokemon perform plays. But what will happen when Team Rocket tries to steal the talking Pokemon?
Bye Bye Psyduck - In a battle with another water Pokemon trainer, Misty can't find Psyduck. Could Psyduck have evolved?
The Joy of Pokemon - Ash and his friends find a Nurse Joy that travels around the island helping Pokemon.

The DVD has great video and audio, and has enough episodes to last any Pokemon fan a long time. It also includes a preview of the fourth Pokemon movie, Pokemon 4Ever. Anyone who loves the Pokemon TV show will love this DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's about time!
I bought this DVD back when it first came out but I'm only now getting around to reviewing it. Anyway, after wondering why they skipped the Orange Islands when putting out the DVDs they FINALLY came out with this..a TWELVE episode disc! Compared with the other Pokemon DVDs which have like 3 episodes (probably why I never bought any of those) at the same price so this is a truly awesome deal. The Orange Islands are my favorite episodes in the whole Pokemon series. I just wish there were more eps, like a full season. The atmosphere is just so lighthearted and fun..guess that tropical climate really helps. I don't really like Tracey but it's okay cuz he mostly feels like a background character who's just along for the ride. Which means that most of the focus is on Ash and Misty with plenty of Pokeshippy moments! My only complaint...would it KILL them to add some special features?? Over all, it's a great buy for any Pokemon fan and even if you're not and say you're looking to get this for your kid, it's MUCH more enjoyable and easier to sit through than say the boring Johto Journies eps. Thanks for readin!

4-0 out of 5 stars End Of Season 1, Prologue Of Season 2, Begining Of Season 2
This is a must have! Since it was made quite a while after season 2, the end of season one and some of season two are jam packed on this DVD! I'm going to use the Japanese name of the characters [since this IS a Japanese cartoon] but the English episode titles so you know what I'm talking about. Musashi=Jessica, Kojiro=James, Nyaasu=Meowth, Satoshi=Ash, Kasumi=Misty, Kenji=Tracey, Takeshi=Brock, Pikachu=Pikachu, Sakaki=Giovanni, Professor Ookido=Professor Oak, Yamoto=Cassidy, Kosaburu=Butch, Officer Junsar=Officer Jenny, Psyduck=Koduck, Soonansu=Wobbuffet, Nurse Joi=Nurse Joy
Pallet Party Panic [Season 1]: Satoshi is celebrating his victory as 15th place in the Indigo Pokémon League but since our wish-they-were-evil-but-their-boss-just-likes-to-lie-to-them villains Musashi, Kojiro, & Nyaasu 'spice-up' the party by making Satoshi, Kasumi, and Takeshi's food flaming hot. They then steal what-they-THINK-their-boss-wants-them-to-steal, Satoshi's Pikachu, and 'end the party in a bang' with bombs of theirs. Unfortunately, this 'back fires'!
A Scare In The Air [Season 1]: Satoshi wins a trip to an island in the Orange Archapellago so Musashi, Kojiro, & Nyaasu notify their boss. Sakaki tells them they'll be promoted to The Duridgible Division [M, K, N (short for Musashi, Kojiro, & Nyaasu) call it "The Blimp Brigade". ...M & K flunked out of school and N, not being a human, never went to school so they tend to be pretty dumb at times] when he really wanted them to crash for insurance purposes-and that they'd be dead so he would never have to deal with them again.
PokéBall Perril: The blimp lands on the destination where Satoshi goes to pick up a PokéBall for Proff. Ookido. The professor with the PokéBall caught Takeshi's love interest [as do the majority of the girls he meets] and stays at her laboratory [though when he returns to the Kanto region he becomes miserable at the mention of her name.]
The Lost Lapras: Three Pokémon Trainers are abusing a baby Pokémon that was separated from its school so a Pokémon Watcher/Pokémon Researcher named Kenji comes along with a potion to revive it. The Pokémon is very vulnerable and shy but develops a slight comfort around humans via Satoshi protecting it from being stolen.
Fit To Be Tide: Satoshi's first Gym Battle for an Orange League Badge. What? A Water Race??? Just what is the Gym Leader trying to pull?!
Pikachu Re-Volts: Kosaburu & Yamoto, a former friend of Musashi's, are at it again! They use the method of hypnotism to lure Pokémon into being stolen. To the protagonist's misfortune, Musashi & Kojiro are the only ones who know the culpirates-and that means helping out their nemesis: Officer Junsar!
The Crystal Onix: A little girl sends out a message in a bottle asking for information about a Crystal Pokémon that sparked the artistic abilities of a family member that her brother needs to keep his glass sculpting shop from going out of buisiness.
In The Pink: Musashi, Kojiro, & Nyaasu accidentally wind up on an island with Pink Pokémon that is forbidden due to poachers such as themselves. Having very out-of-the-ordianary ideas, they want to steal the Pink Pokémon to partake in performances at a theme park the infamous trio plans to purchase [even though by then they stoped getting paid from their major job, having to rely of their part-time jobs].
Shell Shock!: An ancient prophecy foretells that messing with an island, there will be a red moon and the island will sink. An expedition is led to observe Pokémon's fossilized shells and Musashi, Kojiro, & Nyaasu come along. You do the math.
Stage Fight!: A Pokémon Showboat holds preformances by actors voicing Pokémon [who are acting and matching the lip-flap] back stage. One of the actor's voices went thanks to Kojiro so a girl takes his place-but she is just begining to understand her Pokémon, which is very easily scared and cryies a lot.
Bye Bye Psyduck: Say what?! Kasumi's Koduck evolved?! Can't be! That thing is dumber than Musashi's Soonansu! ...Or could it be true? If it is then go Kasumi!
The Joy of Pokémon: Kenji falls in love with a Nurse Joi [as he does for every other hot chic] and becomes very worried about her safety during a storm, not thinking about his own safety. Blinded by love he almost costs the lives of dangerously sick Pokémon. ... Read more

Pokémon Master-in-training Ash Ketchum experiences further ups and downs, with Misty teasing him and the practical Brock advising him."Mystery at the Lighthouse" recalls Ray Bradbury's short story "The Fog Horn." The single, forlorn specimen of a huge seagoing Pokémon comes to a lonely lighthouse seeking companionship, but the villains of Team Rocket drive off the unique creature before "Pokémon scholar" Bill can study it.Moving on to Vermilion City, Ash wins a Thunder Badge in a match against the local champion, whose no-holds-barred tactics have sent more than a dozen Pokémon to the hospital. Ash and Pikachu prove that speed, agility, and friendship can overcome brute strength. At their evil boss's bidding, Team Rocket lures a crowd of Trainers onto the St. Anne ocean liner as part of a plot to seize their Pokémon.Ash leads a counterattack that defeats the bad guys, but the episode ends on an unusually ominous note, with Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu trapped in the sinking ship.Even more ominous for parents is Bill's statement that there may be no limit to the number of Pokémon beyond the known 151. --Charles Solomon ... 5-0 out of 5 stars some of the best of Pokemon
think Pokemon is cool? of course you do. well Electric Shock Showdown and Battle Aboard the St. Anne are some of the best. for true pokemon fans it was very exciting to see Pikachu vs. Raichu. Team Rocket begins to worry after the first match that pikachu lost, that Pikachu wasn't as valuable as they thought and should persue other villainess deeds, but in the end with an ability not known to Raichu, Pikachu, the underdog, comes out on top again. When Team Rocket henchmen try to capture a ship load of pokemon trainers' pokemon, the trainers join forces putting charmander with charmander and geodude with geodude to force Rocket off the ship but then a storm results in the evacuation and capsizing of the ship Ash must find and get back his first captured pokemon, butterfree, and James to get back a Majikarp he squanderd his and Jesse's money on,however the ship sinks with him and his friends trapped in side...

4-0 out of 5 stars The battle of the Century!
Now, before I say the good part, I'd like to say why this lost a star. The first episodes plot was a bit slow, and didn't have a lot of action. But "Electric Shock Showdown" was great. At last, Pikachu vs. Raichu. The plot was good, and the famed Team Rocket "Pika-cheer" was hilarious. And the third episode was the tip of the iceberg, with a good plot and lots of action. And Team Rocket finally looks likes a formidable orginazation. Not to mention James gets conned, and takes Jessie's money with him!

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable series but too expensive
Pokémon is the story about Ash Ketchum and his friends, Misty Williams and Brock Harrison. Ash's goal is to become a Pokémon Master. Misty's goal is to be "the best at everything" but, more specifically, a Water Pokémon Master. Brock's goal is to be the world's best Pokémon breeder. Pokémon are the animals that inhabit their world. They come in many different species (mouse, cat, dog, etc.) and types (electric, grass, water, fire, etc.). Each Pokémon trainer trains his or her Pokémon to battle other Pokémon and win badges to compete in Pokémon Leagues. Ash, Misty, and Brock must deal with Jessie, James, and Meowth of the evil Team Rocket, who want to steal Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu, and usually other Pokémon as well. This Japanese animation series is an advertisement for the Pokémon video games, and the episodes' plots are usually simple, but this is actually an enjoyable series. Common themes are friendship, not giving up, parting ways with a dear friend, and other good morals. Parents and guardians that are concerned about the violence need not worry. Yes, the kids have their pets fight each other, but they also must learn to take care of and love their pets. Girls will find a strong female role model in Misty. Overall, this is a fun, simple, warm-hearted, rather repetitive series. However, despite how much I like the anime, the DVDs are not worth your money. Each episode is probably less than twenty minutes long, and there are only three episodes on each DVD. You would be paying the price of this DVD for around one hour of Pokémon. That's ridiculous. They don't even include the Japanese vocal tracks with English subtitles or the fun music videos from the TV airings. You can rent these same English-dubbed episodes on VHS. If you really want this series on DVD, my advice to you is to buy the movies and the special, "Mewtwo Returns", and wait for box sets of the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect combination of Funny and cool!
I've never seen the movie it's self, but I saw it on Kids WB once and really liked it! Although Ash lost to Lt. surge at first later he figured out Lt. Surges Raichu never learned the evasive attacks(Agility and Double team)when it was still a Pikachu so Ash's Pikachu kept Dodging Raichu so Raichu eventually ran out of attacks and Ash's Pikachu quicky knocked it out!!! One of the funniest things about this episode was Team Rocket was constantly cheering Ash's Pikachu on because they knew if it could beat it's evolved form,Raichu it would be worth stealing(not that they ever could steal it)!

4-0 out of 5 stars Another Poke triumph!
The episode "Battle Aboard the St. Anne" has really made me wonder about James ... I think he needs therapy. Then again, he wouldn't be half as funny as he is if he were well-adjusted.

And of course, for you Pikachu fans, he and Raichu mix it up in "Electric Shock Showdown", the best episode on this DVD. Lt. Surge isn't letting our little yellow guy win easily, but as usual Pika's brains (not Ash's) save the day. (In this one, James and Jesse get weird again with their "Pika cheer". Disturbing yet funny. Maybe these two just didn't get enough love when they were children.)

The third episode, "Mystery At the Lighthouse", is eery and delightfully chilling.

This DVD belongs in every Poke fan's collection! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Misty joins Team Rocket!
1st episode:
Ash's Totodile falls in love with a singing Azumaril.
2nd episode:
Ash tries to catch a Noctowl, but he keeps getting confused.
3rd episode:
Thanks to and Ursaring group, Misty joins James and Meowth, and Jessie joins Ash, Brock, and Pikachu.

5-0 out of 5 stars Totodile and Azumarill?
If you're a fan of Ash's journey to the Johto League, you should like these three episodes. I'll describe each of these three episodes to you sepreately since I like each of them differently.(I actually like only the first of these three episodes.)

Episode 3-48: Love, Totodile Style: Ash and friends take a break at a lake. After Ash and Misty let out all their water Pokémon, Ash's Totodile notices and falls in love with this Azumarill. However, Azumarill doesn't feel the same way about Totodile. At the same time, Ash, Misty, and Brock are about to have some of Brock's beef stew when they notice a Golduck in the bushes. Misty gets ready to try to capture it, but then it's trainer, a woman with red hair, green eyes, a blue half-shirt, tan pants, a green braclet, red shoes, and a blue bow in her hair, appears. As usual when this happens, a smitten Brock runs up to the concerned girl and introduces himself to her (just like Totodile was with her Azumarill). The woman tells him that her name is Trixie. After Misty pulls Brock back by the ear, Ash asks the Trixie what she and her Golduck were looking for. The 23-year old explains that she was looking for her Azumarill, which then runs up to her, followed by Totodile. Later, we find out that Trixie manages this Pokémon circus and that Azumarill is the star of the show. After the show, Brock decides to give Totodile a few love lessons. However, Team Rocket appears and snatches Azumarill, then wait for Ash to have Pikachu try to stop them, only for Pikachu to be snatched as well. After telling Trixie what happened, she'll help our friends find Team Rocket and get their Pokémon back.

Episode 3-49: Fowl Play: Ash and friends are in a dark forest and find a middle-aged professor who is looking for a Noctowl with an unusual color. They'll all find out that this particular Noctowl will be very difficult to catch.

Episode 3-50: Forest Grumps: After Team Rocket try to snatch all of Ash, Misty, and Brock's Pokémon. What happens then is these Ursaring appear and start chasing all of them. The result, Jessie ends up with Ash and Brock and Misty ends up with James and Mewoth. Both sides will have to avoid the Ursaring who keep appearing.

Why I like these episodes:

Love, Totodile Style: I like seeing Azumarill as well as Totodile falling in love with it. I'm okay amitting this, I also think Trixie is a pretty woman that's in her early twenties and I really like her.(You'll agree when you see her.)

Fowl Play: This episode's okay, but not one of my favorites.

Forest Grumps: This episode's okay, but not one of my favorites.

This DVD is a highly recommended purchase for anyone that likes Pokémon.

However, they don't even include the Japanese vocal tracks with English subtitles or the fun music videos from the TV airings.

4-0 out of 5 stars Totodile, Noctowl, and Ursaring!
You know how it goes, three episodes from the hit anime series about a boy and his Pikachu...
First up, in "Love, Totodile Style", Totodile falls head over heels from a female Azumarril, but she wants nothing to do with him. Perhaps Brock can give Totodile a few pointers... well, maybe not. And how does a Golduck figure into all this? Next, in "Fowl Play", Ash and company come across a super-smart, shiny Noctowl! This clever Pokemon has eluded capture for a long time; will Ash be the one to snag it? Finally, in "Forest Grumps", the kids and Team Rocket find themselves trapped in a forest filled with grumpy Ursaring! Even worse, Jessie finds herself with Brock and Ash, and Misty is stuck with James and Meowth! Can't they all just get along... at least long enough to survive a pack of Ursaring??
All of the episodes featured on this DVD are pretty top notch, which is rare, especially for Season 3. Totodile's antics in the first episode provide plenty of laughs, and Noctowl's antics in the second are a hoot. And 'Forest Grumps' provide a more human view of our favorite trainers as they overcome their differances and get along. All and all, a very well recommended purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars The king of Kids' WB! The biggest heartbreaker!
Even though Nintendo Power will no longer sell the Pokemon comics any more, I'm going to love this volume just like you told me. They contain the following:

"Love Totodile Style". In this romantic-action-comedy episode, Totodile wants to find a Pokémon to fall in love with, but the Pokémon he found was Azumarill. Suddenly, Azumarill runs away. How unfair! But that's not all. Team Rocket not only steals Azumarill, but they also capture Pikachu and Totodile at the same time to send them to the boss. How will these 3 Pokémon escape?! It's up to Ash and the gang to come to the rescue! By the way, I knew this episode all along, that when Azumarill was rescued, she falls in love with Totodile, but huh? Totodile was completely heartbroken! Wah!

"Fowl Play!". In this action-packed episode, the only thing I know about this episode is that Ash Ketchum captured Noctowl before Pokémon 3: The Movie began, right? But I just can't tell what else happened in the episode!

And finally, "Forest Grumps". In this action-horror episode, a trap falls from the sky and swoops down to capture all those Pokémon in the forest. This is where Ursaring is lurking by to destroy the trap immediately!

Now, thank you all once again on your cooperation on what to rank. However, in "Love Totodile Style", don't feel heartbroken if Totodile can't find anybody to fall in love with, like Azumarill for example. In "Fowl Play", watch out for owls that will swoop down and attack you throughout the forest. And in "Forest Grumps", try your best to avoid tripping the traps. Just remember that if the episode "Love Totodile Style" in Chapter 13 is making you feel heartbroken, the other 2 episodes will make you feel a lot better, so don't worry about it. Have fun, and good luck! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Maybe not 4ever...
After a short, limited release in theaters last year, Pokemon 4Ever is finally coming to video courtesy of Miramax. And while it's not the vast improvement to the previous Warner Bros DVD releases we were hoping for, it is still a decent offering.
The story, basically, is that Ash and company come across a boy named Sam and a Celebi, who have traveled 40 years from the past. But before Celebi can bring Sam back to his own time, it is captured by the Iron Mask Marauder, who captures Celebi using a Dark Ball, and transforms it into a destructive monster. While the Marauder and Celebi destroy the forest, Ash and Sam must try and save Celebi. There are some surprisingly emotional scenes in the movie, especially towards the end as we find out the fate of Celebi and Sam's relationship with Ash.
The DVD offers trailers for this movie and the Japanese trailer for the fifth movie, as well as previews for other Miramax titles. Fans will be pleased to know that the Pikachu short has been restored for the DVD, and as usually, it's pretty funny and features plenty of cute Pokemon. It also a multi-angle animation progression feature, but the footage shown is very brief; each of the four segments clock in at barely under a few seconds, if that. One major complaint about this DVD is that despite the fact that this is the fourth Pokemon feature, it is still only presented on DVD in FULLSCREEN. There are many instances in the movie where a character is speaking, but you can't see him or her, since they are cropped off the screen. I'd hoped this unfortunate tradition was left behind with Warner Bros, but the curse follows the series to Miramax. Listen up, Miramax, we don't mind the black bars on the screen, we really don't. This problem is even worse when compared with the Warner releases, because the picture seems to be zoomed in a bit more and after repeated viewings, you actually begin to notice that the screen is constantly wobbling. A very poor transfer.
Another complaint, though not as major, is the commentary featuring the producers and the cast. While it's fun to finally hear what the actors really sound like, they don't really react to anything on-screen; it's more like a Q&A session. While it does answer some interesting questions, it would have been better off to leave it as a separate feature and keep a regular commentary with just the producers. The commentary track also only runs under an hour, so it cuts off with about 20 minutes of the movie left to go. Hopefully they won't do this with movie 5, since the commentaries are my favorites part of the Pokemon movies.
Otherwise, it's a solid film, and fans will be pleased that the movie sticks very close to the original Japanese script. It won't convert any Pokemon haters, but then again, nothing probably would.
Just please, Miramax, when you release movie 5 on DVD, please do so in widescreen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon is the best!!!
I am pokemon crazy!!! It feels so good to know that pokemon is still popular. In Pokemon 4ever, I loved the part where James and Meowth were hanging on to a piece of string from the bottom of Whites blimp. I also really loved the part where Meowth told James, "We,re no match for that big twig monster." "I know, poor Jessie." In his heart, I bet James was worried about Jessie. To him, that was a nightmare. In the anime series of pokemon, i get the feeling that Jessie and James hearts beat as one. In Pokemon Shipwreck in the part where they thought they were going to die, it looked James was about to admit he loved Jessie. But then Misty ruined their moment. Jessie,s beautiful blue eyes seemed to look right into James soul. In that episode, I bet poor James could feel his heart pounding.

5-0 out of 5 stars A pokemon movie even a Mom could love!!
Our whole family likes this movie. The story is well developed, interesting and creative. The focus of the story is good old fashioned, good vs. evil, without the gratuitous violence. I found myself surprised to be enjoying this movie. It's very creative and fun. What is even more remarkable is the open display of emotion towards the end of the movie. This is truly something rare, but needed, in movies that are generally for boys.

Even Mom gives this movie two thumbs up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good DVD Movie--Summary by an *erhm* 8th grader
Just another Pokemon movie...i guess...

If thats what you're thinking, you're wrong. Its a great movie for |children & POKEMON ADDICTS or Pokemaniacs & REAL anime lovers| only. Lets talk about literature you learned in grade school, OK?

First of all, the title is of course, Pokemon 4Ever, the 4 cleverly replacing the 'for' in the title and also representing the 4th movie made about Pokemon (notice: i didnt say 'by' because obviously Pokemon didnt make the movie). This movie is just about Celebi, a legendary Pokemon, who travels forward in time about 40 years. Sammy, a person who you know really well in the first episode (no im not giving who the person is away, you'll have to get it and see), travels along with Celebi and meets Ash. They do the usual "Hi! How are you?" and blah, blah, blah. SKIP BORING PART OF MOVIE --->
The climax and denouement are grouped together after 1 hour or so when Ash tries to feed Celebi. Since I come from an Asian background, the author and original artist of the drawing probably infered that Celebi had died when the berries dropped into the water. In Asia, esp Chinese and Japenese backgounded people say that when beads fall, you are dead. So, basically the berries symbolizes death. And ya, it isnt dead for long because it is revived by other Celebi, and Ash and Sammy depart. Ash is sad and thats the end of the story.

There was plenty of irony in the story, especially with Professor Oak. If you dont want me to ruin the story for you stop! Else Read on. Professor Oak is Sammy. And I know...WOW! what a transformation. But then the scientific aspect comes into view. What about that thing that said that you can't be in two places at once? Huh? There are lots of holes in the story if you're scientifically smart. But who gives...this is a definently good movie despite the holes. Although the denuement could be better, its an overall good movie to watch at MAX 3-4 times. It grows boring after the first time...trust me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon IS 4EVER!
This title fits, because Pokemon will alway be forever!
This movie is Great I love it. I will always be a pokmon fan and this movie is totally brilliant. This movie same as the other movies had a great storyline. It teaches you that you WILL suceed and you CAN help the world. Just put one foot in front of the other and you CAN and WILL accomplish you're goal. This movie skyrockted and will make you believe. Get it you'll LOOOOVE it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Poochyena, contest battles, and more
This DVD contains five episodes, two of which will not be included on the VHS version. They are:

A Bite to Remember: Ash and co accidentally stumble into a Pokemon preserve. There, they meet Katrina and her pack of Mightyena. They also meet Katrina's Poochyena, which hasn't evolved into Mightyena yet. Max is intrigued and is determined to help this Poochyena evolve. This is a great episode, and it's one of my favorites over the entire season so far.

The Lotad Lowdown: Ash and co take a break at a lake to swim. They learn that this lake is inhabited by playful Lotad that can use Water Gun. Brock is drawn to one Lotad that can't quite do everything right. They also meet three girls who run a flower ship: Rita, Nicole, and young Natalie. Then, Natalie goes missing and Team Rocket tries to steal the Lotad! Can Brock and his new Lotad friend save the day?

All that's Bright and Beautifly: Ash and co have finally arrived at Rustboro City, and they find out about a Pokemon contest being held at Rustboro Hall. They also meet trainers Chaz and Janet with their Pokemon, Chaz's Venomoth and Janet's Beautifly. May falls in love with the world of Pokemon Contests. Meanwhile, Chaz tells Ash about an attack that will come in handy at the Rustboro Gym, Iron Tail. Ash and Pikachu struggle to master the attack in time. This is another great episode, Hoenn's Pokemon contests are just as exciting as battles and are one of my favorite features from the Ruby and Sapphire video games.

All in a Day's Wurmple: While walking through a forest, May is frightened by a caterpillar-like Pokemon called Wurmple. However, when her brother Max tells her that they evolve into Beautifly, May instantly wants it. Unfortunately, Jessie also wants a beautiful Beautifly. While May is out searching, Ash meets a young trainer named Forrest who challenges Ash to a Double Battle, in which each trainer uses two Pokemon at once. Ash, of course, accepts the challenge. Can May catch the Wurmple she desires, and can Ash master the challenge of a double battle?

Gonna Rule the School: Ash, Brock, May, and Max find a lost Poliwag in Rustboro City. They return it to its owner, Roxanne, a teacher in a Pokemon school near the gym. They also find that Roxanne is the gym leader! Before Ash can have his match, she has to finish teaching her Pokemon class, so they accept. Max is excited by the class and Roxanne lets him attend it for a day.

This is a great DVD, I give it 5 stars - mostly for containing episodes like "All that's Bright and Beautifly" and "A Bite to Remember." However, if you want the last two episodes, don't get the VHS version. Only the DVD has these two episodes. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Indigo End-Game
If you liked playing Pokemon Stadium, this volume of the anime should be right up you alley. The final battles of the Indigo league, the final show down between friends, and a big good-bye to Gary Oak who won't be seen again until Johto.

Basically these eps have little plot, and mostly go into Pokemon vs. Pokemon, trainer vs. trainer as those who've won eight badges of the Indigo league must participate in a cross between the Olympics and pro-wrestling. Usually a moral will be worked in, and we get to sometimes see a different side to Team Rocket, but that's about the only high points. Very good if you like watching sports, but if you love Pokemon for the comedy & adventure ... well look at it this way, the next Vol. after this issues in the Orange League series ^_^. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Errrrr....It's kinda strange...
Pokemon is NOT one of the best movies ever created. It's also not the best animation, either. First off, it doesn't make any sense. The characters say that "fighting is a lot different than battling. Sure, you try to win but you don't try to beat each other." Uhhhh...okay, that didn't make a thread of sense...
Next: ANIMATION. The characters move jerky and they always seem to have a huge drop of water on their forehead. Not the greatest.
The wacko hairstyles of some of the characters are always worth a laugh. One guy's hair looked like a hairsprayed pine cone that was dyed banana yellow. Another guy looked like he had a hairy brown pancake on his head.
Pokemon is good for little kids, but if you just want to watch a dorky movie, get this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable series but too expensive
