4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Book Short Documentary
The book is great. The documentary was short but gave a lot to think about that was hard to concive from the book. I do not own the Dvd's but i watched them before. The documentary was great. Both my family and I watched the Dvd and thought them great. Every one needs watch this. But the books are better.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rip off
The code of the bible?

After watching what the so called "code" is, you'll be disapointed after knowing that it is not that espectacular and the same result can be found on books such as moby dick.

3-0 out of 5 stars It was something to think about?
When I was first asked to review this DVD by a friend I wanted to decline, but watched it anyway. It was my personal opinion that you can make anything say anything if you try hard enough.
The impression that I got afterward was that there were some very genuine people out there with far more expertise than I have in encoding and mathmatics that had found something extraordinary within the Hebrew text. So I have have elevated my opinion somewhat. There is no way I am going to be able to understand fully encryption methods..and debunkers use people's inability to grasp the mathematic concepts as a way to blast the whole thing.
I figure "out of the mouth of two or three witnesses" (add credible to that) all things will be established. These people seem competent, sincere, and not glory hounds, so I am left to think about it and wish that it would be indeed provable and acceptable in the scientific community. I would love theology and science to come together on something!
Over all if a DVD gives me ANYTHING to think about it is good. It is short documentary...and doesn't need two DVD's to show, but I didn't regret the time viewing it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great subject, poor production value...
This DVD, as a documentary, is very poor - conceptually and technically. First the mundane details: It appears as a "box set" with 2 DVD's, but each one of them only contains 45 minutes with none of the usual "bonus". The film itself is very unbalanced, promising way more the it delivers and mixing solid scientific research with some very questionable messianic claims. The subject itself is fascinating. Watch the DVD if you have to, but your time would be better spent reading the original book by Michael Drosnin...

1-0 out of 5 stars GQ: What's your Gullibilty Quotient?
Another product milking the discredited psuedo-science of numerology, but if you're the uncritical, airy-fairy type that believes in whatever comes down the pike, you'll probably be slack-jawed in amazement throughout Secrets of the Bible Code Revealed.

Want to distance yourself from pseudo-scientific thinking? Pick up a copy of Sagan's Demon-Haunted World or this month's Skeptic or Skeptical Inquirer magazine. ... Read more

Tom Bodett, familiar to many for his work on National Public Radio and Public Television, hosts this fascinating series on the trails that extended America's frontiers. Follow in the footsteps and wagon ruts of rugged pioneers, dauntless homesteaders, reclusive mountain men and stop-at-nothing gold hunters as they explored, settled and worked the new land. The Great Wagon Road & The Wilderness Trail The Great Wagon Road carried hopeful settlers out of Philadelphia and into the wilds of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The 1,000 mile length of the Wilderness Trail traversed the Shenandoah Valley, crossed the Cumberland Gap and forged into the unknown lands of Kentucky. The California Trail & El Camino Real Shopkeepers and farmers dropped everything to join the California Gold Rush, but first they had to cross the deadly 40 Mile Desert and the treacherous Sierra Nevadas. El Camino Real in New Mexico was the El Paso and Santa Fe trade route used by the Pueblo Indians and Conquistadors 400 years ago.The Yukon Gold Rush Trail Three gold strikes sent thousands scrambling for the frozen gold fields of the far north between 1896 and 1903. Driven by optimism and gullibility, many found only ruin. Tom retraces their eager steps from Seattle to the Inside Passage along the Alaskan coastline and Skagway. The Old Post Road Early roads were lifelines thrown across deep wilderness to the isolated residents of colonial America's far-flung settlements. The Old Post Road carried supplies, mail and exhausted travelers through 300 miles of wild back-country between Boston and New York in the 1600s.The River Road & The Natchez Trace Riverboat-men used The River Road and Natchez Trace for their up-river return trip from New Orleans. These enterprising roustabouts braved vicious land pirates and swamps infested with alligators and water moccasins to make their way back to Natchez and Nashville. The Mormon Trail & California's Mission Trail The Mormon Trail crossed the Great Plains to the Great Salt Lake, bringing the devoted followers of Brigham Young to their new Zion. California's Mission Trail linked a chain of old Spanish Missions along the California's coastline from San Fernando to Sonoma. ... Read more

The three discs in this boxed set cover quite a bit of territory. Volume 1 does a great job on UFOs, especially on Roswell and alien-human hybrids, but falls woefully short in the ghost-stories segment.Volume 2 thoroughly explores vampires and Nostradamus, although the style is somewhat dry.And Volume 3 purports to be about miracles and mysteries, though it shortchanges us in both categories, especially in the mystery department in which they present only one kinda crappy mystery about Whitley Strieber. Also, this one mysteriously ends 30 minutes too soon. The sound and visual quality of the first and third discs is uniformly bad. And the second one is just fine in both areas, for some reason. In many ways, this set is a grab bag of supernatural explorations rather than a consistently produced product. They've mixed and matched from several sources to put this together, with predictable results. Some terrific stuff, and some duds. The UFO and vampires pieces are particularly engrossing. --Jim Gay ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Eh.
All in all, it's interesting enough if you're a fan of the supernatural, and it's the right price... however, the picture quality isn't that great (I didn't expect it to be pristine, so this wasn't a major problem for me) and the sound leaves something to be desired. There *are* some decent stories here, and the UFO section is rather interesting, but if you don't have more than a passing interest in the occult, I'd pass on this one. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the footage, 3 stars for the DVDs
Don't get me wrong, this DVD set is awesome for railroad fans!!!!
But this DVD set only presents the footages as they are. There is no detailed introduction to each of the locomotives appeared in the DVDs. I think it'll be much more fun if detailed narration is available.
5 stars for the footage.
3 stars for the DVD set.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Film Footage Of The Twilight Of Steam In The USA
I ordered this DVD set primarily for my young son who knows steam trains only through pictures and is passionate about trains in general. I did not expect to like it myself. Imagine my surprise when I found the color film footage (from various amateur but dedicated sources) to be in excellent shape, in good focus, and fascinating to watch. Each disc is a compilation of many different steam locomotives, including those still in regular service during the 1950s and 60s. (In the U.S., steam engines were completely replaced by diesels by about 1962, a process that began in the late 1930s.) Locomotives featured range from Union Pacific "Big Boys", at 1.25 million pounds the largest steam engines ever built, running on the praire in Wyoming, to N&W articulateds in Virginia, to steam fan trips of the 50s and 60s. On the disc titled "Steam Giants Across America," some fantastic modern film footage from the 1990s depicts the last remaining articulated N&W engine running on a fan trip in South Georgia and UP fan trips through the Feather River Canyon using their last two big steam locomotives. I highly recommend this set to anyone who is even mildly interested in the steam era of railroading in America. Each disc contains 40-60 minutes, and is a bargain at the price. ... Read more

The makers of this would-be made-for-TV series claim to "use the full impact of image and sound to place the viewer right in the midst of every frightful experience." What this means in practice is ear-wrenching sounds will assault you, one simulating a highly amplified creak of a rusty gate opening torturously slowly within your inner ear. Vertiginous video effects track and tilt ceaselessly along corridors of old houses and stone castles, swooping and cross-fading with other bits of video. The packaging might well have boasted this: Shot in Spectral Ghost-O-Vision! The target audience for this product apparently can't sit still for a shot that lasts more than three seconds. That's how hectic these video techniques are. The swirling montage phantasmagoria had me reaching for the Dramamine. Not that the discs are completely worthless. Hosted by the estimable Patrick Macnee (The Avengers), the series relates many stories of ghostly sightings, accompanied by interviews with eyewitnesses, all of which feel factual. This is clearly the show's strength. It's unfortunate that they feel compelled in several places to mount experiments to "prove" certain places are haunted, because the results are laughably inept. A note on the discs themselves is in order, since the very poor sound (the discs I viewed had an annoying buzz in the left channel) and the atrocious visual quality conspire to make them practically unwatchable. One wonders why it was ever necessary to transfer this show to DVD at all. And at 45 minutes per volume, this could easily have fit on one disc with much better quality. --Jim Gay ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Another mangling by Madacy
Mildly entertaining, in the way that sensationalistic, unjournalistic supernatural shows usually are. But the scariest thing about this 3-disc set is the video encoding quality. As with their poor treatments of NASA and space history material, the MPEG encoding looks worse than VHS. The blockiness and artifacts makes one wonder if Madacy Entertainment has the slightest idea how to do DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars ghost stories
