4-0 out of 5 stars not too demanding, but effective
I've got about half a dozen yoga DVDs and I find that this is the one I use the most often because it is not physically demanding, but is really effective.

The Rodney Yee program (AM) is shorter and focuses mainly on stretching out the back; I find it really helps when I've got any kind of lower back problem or just at stretching me out and getting me ready for the day.

The Patricia Walden program (PM) is slightly longer and focuses more on standing poses; it also has a very good deep relaxation at the end.

The only disadvantage to these Gaim DVDs is that they are programmed so that you have to play a longish commercial for all of their other products (what exacly is "organic clothing" anyway?) before you can start your workout. If you use the DVD regularly, the commercial gets really annoying after you've seen it about 20 times.

But all in all, this is a very useful DVD. It's accessible for beginners but also useful for people who've been doing yoga for a while but are looking for a short, focused, effective workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this DVD - new yoga enthusiast
I never understood the appeal of yoga before. I bought this DVD, and now I see why people love yoga so much. I had tried another yoga tape and other exercise tapes before, but most were not nearly as good as this one. I am now hooked. There are two 20 minute yoga segments. The first is called "AM Yoga" with Rodney Yee, and the second segment, called "PM Yoga", is with Patricia Walden. Both segments were terrific, but I especially enjoyed the "AM" segment with Rodney Yee. I found that during his section I could listen to Yee peacefully talk me through the poses without being glued to the tv screen. It allowed me to really enjoy the DVD more. When I was finished with his 20 minute segment, I felt so relaxed - it was surprising...I am looking now for other Yee DVD's. On the second segment, it wasn't as easy to follow the instructor. I imagine it would be easier to follow after a week of sessions to get used to it. Still, this is an excellent DVD for anyone curious about the appeal of yoga and looking for an excellent intro. You won't be doing any moves that are too advanced or aerobic in this DVD, but it is extremely relaxing. Also, the 20 minute segments are great for busy people who don't have endless amounts of time to fit in exercise. This is a great investment overall.

2-0 out of 5 stars Falls Short, just like the length
I just bought this DVD along with another Yoga DVD. This one is more of a meditation and relaxation video than a workout video. Most people say the segments are each 20 minutes long, but that's only if you do all of the meditation. The workouts are actually 13 minutes for the AM and 18 minutes for the PM. The other video I purchased has so much more to offer with more than one routine and much more length. If you don't want to spend a lot of time working out, press stop when you're ready. This video is over before you know it. In addition, the PM section wakes you up more than the AM, so I'd reverse the order when using. Definitely go for a Bryan Kest video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and relaxing...
Works for both my small boy and myself. Relaxing, easy to follow, and not too long.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this DVD!!
I do the PM part of this DVD each morning and can't believe the difference it makes in my body after just 25 minutes of yoga. This DVD is perfect for those who are not very flexible (me included). What I can't figure out is why the woman in the PM part is in the middle of a sandstorm while Rodney Yee (AM part) is in an idyllic beach setting! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Literally
Living in New England, my running routine has somewhat gone down the tubes due to the frigid weather. Plus my class schedule has so many 8-5 days in it that I don't have time to hit the gym. SO, I decided just after Thanksgiving to start doing a workout tape regime that would kill less time and still keep me in shape.

My first tape...Callanetics. Great sculpting workout, but no cardio. The immediate first thought...Tae Bo. I have a lot of friends who sang the praises of Billy Blanks, but I had yet to see myself what cardio kickboxing was all about. I bought the DVD version (1) because it was actually cheaper than the tapes and (2) had all the tapes rolled up into one slim package that would probably last longer anyway.

I did what the instructions told me and did the introductory workout first. This teaches you the basics of the moves he likes to incorporate into the routines. Although I feel that he could have explained some of the positions better (i.e., when you do the roundhouse kicks, turn the foot you're standing on OUT...it will help twist your hips down so you can lift your leg as high as possible while working out your gluteal muscles...he doesn't emphasize this, just tells you to keep your hand on your hip and kick to the side), you find out his workout is relatively simple in technique. However, he warns you that he CAN and WILL make it more PHYSICALLY difficult as you progress.

I then advanced to the basics workout. Being an avid runner and gym rat, I found this to be a pretty decent workout. Built up a respectable sweat and felt empowered...just pictured kicking ex-boyfriends in the face. :) Plus, I surprised myself with how fierce I can feel...really lets out stress and remains fun.

The advanced workout...whoa. Not for the faint of heart. 45 minutes of cardio with many many many fast sequences of kicks and jabs that will make you feel like a puppet being yanked in eight different directions...it's great. :) Then, the floor work...you probably have never done so many doggy-lifts in your life! Killer! :) I highly recommend this DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Taebo will get you going!
I have been doing power yoga, jump roping, running, power walking, some martial arts (at studios) and a little weight lifting and I couldn't even get toned. I was still getting slightly depressed and I felt my motivation go down. BUT then I luckily found Taebo. Billy Blanks is this incredible motivator that really gets you going. Before I got to an advanced level I started to see stomach muscle tone and overall lean muscle tone--it's really amazing. Yes, you should spend an extra 15 min of stretching prior and after each workout, but if Billy Blanks were to have included a stretch out in the videos than it would have been boring. Yes, the music [is bad]. However, you can get over those petty concerns if you take your fitness goals seriously. Don't whine, get off your seat and just do it! I'm now doing Taebo 5X a week and cardio 1X a week--despite the fact that I have recently recieved radiation treatment for Grave's disease (and will require a life time of meds). You can transcend any emotional pain in your life by your pure determinism!

4-0 out of 5 stars They could have picked better music!!!
I love TaeBo, but it's a little difficult to get pumped up to elevator hiphop! Please! Overall, the workout is awesome. I saw results in 2 weeks, and it makes me feel strong, sexy, and empowered (I just picture kicking and punching my ex-husband in the face when I need that extra boost! LOL). This is worth the money. Maybe when you get the moves down, you could crank up some real music to kick-butt to!

1-0 out of 5 stars ordered and e-bay cancel
I order this DVd for $20 two days later E-bay cancel my order an
said they had no more. Now I look on e-bay they have the same
taebo DVD at a higher cost???Is this a rip off or what?

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, It Really Works
I have had to work to control my weight since puberty. I have been working out since I was 16 yrs. old and of all the things I have tried, I have never gotten into shape as fast as I did with Tae-Bo. About a month and a half after I began the workout, people were asking me what I was doing. I was so pleased with the results! And not only do you lose weight quick, but you feel so much better! Strong and energized. I thought what I payed was pretty inexpensive after seeing what it did for me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Change to the Typical Workout
This 30 minute workout is broken out into three, 10 minute segments that target first the lower body, then the upper body and lastly, the abs. The upper body portion is done using two sets of dumbbells; I used 5 and 8 lbs. You can choose to do one, two or all three segments. When I previewed this workout, I thought it might be too easy for me, an intermediate level exerciser. Well, I just finished it, and I am whipped. I was sweating after the first segment and was so motivated that I completed the other two segments as well. There is an exercise done in the lower body segment that really worked my hamstrings. This is my first stability ball workout, and I recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Quick Workouts
These workouts are fast and effective. They are only for toning, so I usually add one or two to a cardio workout. There are many creative uses of the stability ball in all of these workouts, and the instructor moves through the exercises quickly and gets a lot done in 10 minutes. The upper body segments requires heavy and light weights thought I found using five pound weights for both effective especially the first few times. Some of the exercises are difficult the first time, but there are alternatives for beginners. A lot of the exercises in all the workouts require good balance and core stability.

    4-0 out of 5 stars The Anti-Depressant!
I've been using this DVD for about three weeks now, when I don't feel like biking or walking, and I highly recommend it for people who have maybe had a little Pilates/yoga/weight work instruction and just want to come at it all from a different perspective. Make no mistake: Being on a ball doesn't make it easier! It makes you 'get real' about your posture and etc. Your muscles will bark back at you, especially on the lower body segment, but you'll feel pleased and proud when you complete it. The instructions are compassionate; the 'instructresses' are cheery and motivating. The background music doesn't sound like something from a (...) movie. And it's all over in a half-hour! If nothing else, this video will coax you out of a bad mood -- and maybe, after time, into a smaller pair of pants!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Quick Fix Winner
I own four Quick Fix DVD's and three are on regular rotation for my workouts (except the Yoga/Pilates, which stinks). This is a great workout that ensures I'll be sore the next day!

5-0 out of 5 stars busy mother of 3
Great DVD, highly recommend it. If you can't get away to a gym to workout, this is a great alternative, inexpensive, low tech, very doable for a middleage woman trying to get back in shape. I can do this on the basement floor while the kids play! The exercises offer two levels so if it's too hard you can do the easier version. Very pleasant leader, very encouraging, not a "fluff" or scantily clad kind of female but very atheletic and also middle age. I'm already noticing good results in 1 weeks use so give it a try!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best of the best!
I just got this video in the mail today and did it immediately- it satisfied me beyond my expectations. You start out with a slow warm up, reviewing the four basic steps- walking, side steps, knee lifts, and kicks. The music really gets you into the mood to burn fat! The pace picks up and you start really doing power walking at its best. Leslie integrates arms into the workout, and after about 14-15 minutes, you have finished one mile! The workout gets more intense than ever and the 2nd mile is the fastest mile of them all. Aerobic walking takes over, and Leslie shows us some variation in the arms and the steps, and we move around the room. The walking is very brisk. The third mile comes before you know it, and Leslie shows you new steps like double kick backs, tapping with double side steps, grape vine, and more. The fourth mile also goes by quickly, and before you know it you are cooling down after a great workout! Of course there is stretching.

I recommend this video to everyone- it is really for all ages (there are people in this video that range from 20 to 72!!!). It gets your heart pumping and it really makes you sweat!

5-0 out of 5 stars Leslie Rocks
I've been using Leslie's workout videos for years and I believe the 4 mile super challenge is her best so far. If you're just starting to exercise again or you're out of shape you might want to start with mile 1 or 2 but if you feel that you need a bigger challenge, that is fun and very motivating, mile 4 super challenge is for you. The music helps you keep a fast pace, Leslie's postive attidude keeps you from wanting to quit, and the exercises throughout the program are so simple that anyone with two left feet can do them. I own several of the Walk Away the Pounds videos because I can mix and match the different miles and create my own exercise program. These are wonerful videos and anyone who wants a workout that is challenging but easy to follow should try them in a heartbeat.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME workout - my favorite of all WATPs!
This is a pure walking workout; i.e., no "accoutrements" like bands or hand weights. Very similar to the Express 3 Mile in terms of the music, the set and the group of walkers (but the 3 Mile uses the stretch bands). Loved the music--very hip and dancey, like club music, which I love. I have done this workout 2 or 3 times so far and it is fantastic. "Joyful" is the word that came to mind when I was doing it. The miles go by so fast, there was never a point where I was thinking "OH GAWD, when are we getting to the next mile?!" I MUCH prefer this to the older 4-mile WATP I have which has SOOOO much repetition of the same movement that I get exhausted and annoyed at the same time. This one gets a big THUMBS UP from me!

5-0 out of 5 stars power walk
This is a nice long workout pretty low impact a wonderful workout for all ages i would reccomend this to all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This exercise video is perfect for someone who does not like to exercise! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this Video !!!!!
I've tried many work out tapes but the problem was that many require alot of space, alot of time, very physical movements and after a while didn't hold my attention.

I was skeptical at first about just walking to work out, but it is more than just walking. It's a combo of easy/natural leg work (kicking), arm work, light weights, and brisk walking. The system I ordered which has 1,2& 3 mile walk is perfect! I have a choice of what intensity I want to work out based on how fit I feel & how much time I have on my hands. I started out with the 1 mile, which is a nice short 20mins workout. This is also perfect for those days I feel lazy & just want to do something short or those days where I don't have a lot of time & want to do something quick for the day. The movements are easy (kicks, knee lifts, hand swings, etc.)to follow (I can follow the video on my computer & watch TV at the same time)and the people they use on the video are diverse & fun to work out with. It is a perky crowd & I enjoy the light bantering Leslie has with them.
I'm also happy there are no floor exercises which require space & is just a pain to do sometimes. I was looking for a non-jarring workout to use while I was pregnant and this system was perfect. You can adjust your movements with the video from a full range motion (high kicks, small kicks, use weights or no weights, etc.)or to tiny motions to fit your own physical needs. I am very happy with the video and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for something simple & fun to use everyday. I just bought the DVD & then bought my own hand weights.

5-0 out of 5 stars Feel the burn
I don't enjoy exercising. At all. None. It's my least favorite thing to do. But this DVD almost makes it fun. It's a very easy workout to follow along with, and it doesn't last too terribly long. I agree with other reviewers that Lesley is a little chatty, but she's not that bad, and you can tune it out after a few workouts.

I've been doing the 1- and 2-mile workouts for almost 3 weeks now. I haven't lost much weight yet, but I have noticed an increase in my energy level and a slight difference in my muscle tone. I'm hoping to move up to the 3-mile workout in the next week or so.

It's a miracle that I've stuck with it for this long--and that says a lot about this video!

5-0 out of 5 stars best workout video Ive tried ever
I have about 30 different workout videos Ive collected over time, and I am in intermediate shape,I am a nurse and I had female surgery, some months ago and found this dvd @ the library..I loved it so much I have purchased the 4 mile walk. As I become more fit Ive added heavier wieghts, Ive lost 15lbs in 2 months, and I am now working on my last 10lbs Im feeling like my old self again I cant recamend this enough.. accept to say get a few so you can mix them up a bit or hit mute and add your own music ....CUDDLES to Leslie Im lovin these dvds....

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Easy
Great dvd. Just started the 1 mile & love it! I already have more energy! Can't wait to start the 2 mile!

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly customisable and good work out.
I've had these tapes since last November. I started them during
the rainy cold months. I have very little room and really like the fact that the routine is simple/basic and does not require a lot of room. I've never listened them however.
I tried and she was a little too chatty, which is fine but I prefer to crank up my stereo and listen to tunes I prefer. So I mute the DVD and listen to my favorite music. I also use 3 pound weights through out the work outs.
My arms look great as a result. I've gone from 150 to 132 pounds in 8 months. So the pounds didn't exactly melt away but I've not been too good about dieting either. So this is pretty good considering that. I probably would have lost more if I had been on a diet through out. I also recently started jogging & walking 3 to 4 times a week when the weather is good. But these tapes are a great addition to those workouts. I do the 2 mile dvd 3 to 4 times a week in the mornings. And, when the weather is bad and I can't walk/jog I do the 3 mile dvd in the afternoon. I've recommended these tapes to a few friends but they're not the "work out to fitness video types" and complain about not enough room/complicated moves etc. If I could get them to try these, I'm sure they would like them. I have tons of exercise videos but these are the ones I've done the longest. Because they give a good work out and because they're easy to follow and not boring. I like that they are simple enough that you can follow them without needing to listen to them. I also like
that I can customize them by adding the weights earlier than she does and by simply using heavier weights. Also the moves themselves are customizable and easy enough to do.

I'm glad I found these fitness videos. They've helped me stay consistent in my workout efforts and helped me lose some weight as well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT DVD!!!
I've been working out hard for almost 6 months and I found this dvd to be very challenging. I use dvd's in my workout almost daily, and I have a lot of them. I will have to say that this is my new favorite. Tamilee is a good instructor and the exercises really are effective. There is a lot on this dvd too. There are 3 sections (Abs, Arms, and Buns), and each section has two 16 minute segments. I've been doing the Buns workout at least twice a week and boy does it "get" your buns along with your legs too. It's a great workout.

The only thing I think could be better is the arms section. I say that only because I am trying very hard to build my arms, I want definition. The speed that Tamilee goes on this section makes it impossible to use really heavy weights. But, for toning and tightening, it's a good workout.

My favorite dvd before this one was the QF Total Mix (which I still love), but I'll have to say that this workout is much more intense than that one and I would highly recommend it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great DVD - Perfect if You're Pressed for Time
I was a little hesitant about buying this DVD. Tamilee, after all, is the "Buns of Steel" lady, which connoted a certain amount of cheesiness. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a total of 6 excellent workouts (2 each for abs, arms, and buns); very nice production values; and NO hokey southern belle yakking away ad nauseum. Tamilee encourages without being overbearing, and educates without being too talkative. (The DVD sound option also lets you do the workout with music only - nice feature.) She has a great, athletic figure, and perfect form, so watching her do standard exercises makes you realize (and feel) that you may have been doing them wrong in the past. She also throws in new exercises that are challenging and effective, without being so difficult as to frustrate. All you need to do these 15-minute workouts is a mat (if you have no carpet), handweights (she uses 5 lbs. but you can use more or less), and a chair. Overall, this was a great surprise and a very useable DVD that I can grow with. I'm extremely happy with this purchase - which is rare considering how much junk there is on the exercise video market!

4-0 out of 5 stars With Tamilee, you KNOW you are working out!!!
I felt this DVD was a great value because it contains THREE workouts (abs, arms and buns) on one DVD plus each workout is done at 2 skill levels so you can choose how hard you want to work on a given day. Each body is different, so you might be at level 1 on one bodypart and on level 2 for another. For example, I can get through both the level 1 and 2 arms workout (with 2-pound weights) but am not even close to being able to get through the level 1 abs workout. I can get through most of the level 1 buns workout but it is kind of tough on the knees with all the lunges (then again, I am over 50 so this may not be of concern to you if you're 20 or 30). It was clear to everyone in my office that I'd done the Tamilee workout this week because I was walking gingerly! LOL You not only know you're working out WHILE you're doing it but the next day even moreso!

I have a set of 2 lb. weights and a set of 8 lb. weights at home. The arms program is too easy for me with 2 lb. weights and some parts of it are too difficult for me with 8 lb. weights, so I think I will pick up a set of 4 lb. weights and that will be just right for me.

I look forward to the day when I can get through the abs workout without stopping because it is REALLY challenging!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this DVD!
I have had Tamilee Webb's DVD for over a year, and I still love it. In fact, it is the only workout video I use. I love all of the sections except Part 1 of the buns. I find the lunges hard on my knees, but Part 2 is amazing and makes [me feel] feel great. I do one to three sections, 2-3 times a week, and I feel and look great. Now I am almost 4 months pregnant, and I am barely showing thanks to this DVD. I talked to my doctor and read many books, and was assured that ab work on ones back is possible as long as you don't feel faint at any time. When I get larger I will start doing abs on a ball, but I will continue to use Tamilee Webb's DVD as long as I can. By the way, I am 34. Buy this DVD and you won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have
The workouts are challenging and effective. Yesterday, I did the 1st arms and ab workout. I am so sore today. I love videos that give you something to work up to. Each body section has 2 workouts, with the 2nd being more challenging. I do not see myself outgrowing this DVD. Tammy is a great instructor. She is very easy to follow. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best available!
I also don't understand the one-star rating by one reviewer. I have a graduate degree in exercise science, and many years of experience as a personal trainer (focusing on women & weight/strength training) and I found Kathy's dvds to be outstanding. She provides guidance about proper form in a number of ways with each and every exercise. She often starts a new set with instruction (verbally & by demo'ing herself) the right form without any weights in hand - sometimes also by using a smaller version of the movement first and gradually easing into full range of motion. For example, with her squats series - first you do some reps with no weights and by only squatting a little ways down, then a few deeper squats, and finally a few full squats. Throughout these "warm-up" squats, the screen shots include front & side views of Kathy's strict form which really is correct. THEN you pick up your handweights if you want to use them and move into the actual squats sets. On top of that, Kathy also walks amongst the men & women working out on screen with her, stopping to comment on specific aspects of their form, which enables you to see proper form frommany different angles, and also demos how "proper" form can in fact look slightly different with different body types, and/or with modified versions of some exercises.

In addition to all the above, she also includes verbal reminders along the way ("make sure your knees are tracking over your toes... chest up, neck relaxed..." etc). I found her verbal cues about form to be just the right amount - enough to help you ensure your own proper form, but not so constant you wish she'd just shut up. :)

These DVDs, especially #2, have everything you'd need for a very intense & effective upper & lower body strength training routine. At the same time, they are great for beginners who are new to any sort of weight training. The primary difference will be the amount of weight you use with each exercise. And Kathy even provides guidance about that as well - "your muscle should be fatigued by the time you've done 8-12 reps - if not, you can increase to more weight..." She also makes a point of mentioning when she herself is using a lighter or heavier dumbbell from one exercise to another. Your increases/decreases might not always follow hers - amt of weight or even +/- direction - but it should be fairly clear that it's totally normal not to be able to use the same set of dumbbells for every exercise.

I have tried a lot of different weight/strength training videos & dvds. To be honest, I wasn't really sure Kathy's would impress me very much. I was looking for something that would really challenge me, and decided to take a chance since Karen Voight's "great weighted workout" isn't out on dvd yet. I have been extremely pleased with Kathy Smith's Lift Weights to Lose Weight dvds. Vol 2 of LWTLW series has quickly become one of my favorites. With 4 full 20-minute routines (2 upper body, 2 lower body) plus an additional abs workout, you can easily pick one session per day or mix & match for a whole-body workout. And there are many exercises in each lower & upper body routine that also target core strength - something you won't necessarily find in many other strength tapes/dvds (although fyi - Karen Mann's "The Works" box set has some great core strength and "functional strength" exercises too - the kind of strength you use for picking up your child, carrying groceries, climbing ladders to change lightbulbs etc - all those "awkward positions" we all face every day). I highly recommend this series!

5-0 out of 5 stars Timesaver... best weight workout on market!
I highly disagree with the 1-star rater. Regarding her points first, it moves quickly because the strength training is done using a technique called supersetting. You push yourself and then move quickly in between exercises to move to the next exercise. I found her cheering of "four more" highly encouraging.

I myself, am an aerobics instructor. This video is challenging but appropriate for anyone. You choose your level of weights and you can set it down when it gets to be too much. The exercises move quickly so you won't sit around feeling left out if you choose not to do 6 or 7 reps. You'll get right back into it! I love this video. I was dying to find a way to increase my strength training, and this is it! I even have my boyfriend who is a PE teacher do the arms with me and he loves it. There are men on the video and women and I like that. Kathy looks awesome by the way. This is the best video I've done out of the many I own!

5-0 out of 5 stars These DVDS will give you results!!
I don't know how great of shape the 1 star reviewer was in....but these DVDS together are great. True, there is no warm-up on Volume 1, but you simply warm up yourself. Big deal. The point is, the reps are challenging and great for beginners in Volume 1. They tend to feel quick as the workout flies by in no time. There is a great adherence to proper form!! Volume 2 takes it to the next level to really tone the little muscles in your body. Trust me, I own and have tried a plethora of exercise DVDS and these have given me great results. Yes, Kathy Smith is annoying - obviously - but the bottom line is...you will see results and totally feel the burn the next day. For Volume 2, I find the cool downs not long enough, so I simply hit "pause" and cool down a bit more. Exercise DVDS can't be everything to everyone, but if they work, you have to simply modify it for your own needs. These workouts are not 1 star workouts - trust me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Irritating and Unwatchable
First of all this is NOT a workout for beginners. I consider myself to be in good shape and an intermediate at working out, but I was left feeling frequently lost in the dust. The repetitions were too fast without any emphasis on proper form. Kathy also moves too quickly from one exercise to the next without giving you any time to grab your weights. There is no warm-up included, though she advises you to do one before hand. (It's not really a 20 minute workout if she expects you to warm up on your own beforehand.) But what I found most irritating was Kathy constantly barking orders like a drill sergeant to the toned, buff and scantily-clad men and women in the class: "OKAY, GIVE ME FOUR MORE!" and her frequent "whoops." Struck me as almost sado-masochistic.

My favorite weight-training video remains "Strong Women Stay Young" available through the "As We Change" catalogue. It moves much slowly (but no less intensely) with much more attention to proper form and detail. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the moderatly overweight/moderately out of shape
I just got this DVD today and finished the workout a few minutes ago. I can definitly feel the burn in my abs, and I can tell my arms and legs will be a bit sore tommorrow! I am a 20 yr old college student, about 30 lbs overweight, not toned at all and pretty much out of shape but not completly (I can jog a 12 min mile and then I have to walk for a few minutes before I can even think of jogging some more). I found this video to be at a good level for me, and I think if I was less or more in shape it would still be good. I could do all of the exercises, although I could not get the full range of motion on a few (that was in part because while Denise reccomends 3-8lb weights, I only have 10 lbs). Denise talks constantly, and I found that motivating, although I would definitly not buy a yoga or other relaxing workout from her! The first 20 minutes uses free weights and the second 20 minutes uses a stability ball and free weights. The DVD does not pause in between the workout sections, but it is clear that if you only want a short workout, the time when Denise gets her stability ball is the time to stop the DVD. I did the first 20 min, made a 10 min phone call, and did the second 20 min. I am pretty sure I could have done the tape straight through with only a quick water break in the middle, although I was definitly breathing hard and sweating light-moderate. (The workout is not exactly cardio, but since I am out of shape, the effort of lifting weights and switching positions brought up my heartrate to where it would be maybe a minute or two into a slow jog)I also really liked that there were many excersizes to work each muscle and very few reps of each, so the muscle was worked for enough time without the movements getting to repetitive. I also liked how a boring movement such as arm curls with weights was made a little more bearable by rocking back in forth. Overall, I liked this tape and I feel it really worked my muscles, and as I strengthen I can increase the weight and range of motion and still be challanged.

5-0 out of 5 stars gotta be one of the best
Denise Austin is very motivational and unlike other exercise dvds I have used, she uses the most efficient techniques to work on my exact problem areas, and all within 45 minutes! I love the combination of stretching, pilates, weights, and balance ball. I never stick to exercise dvds but I think I will this one because I totally see the difference!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Effective!!!
Denise Austin is THE fitness icon of today! She is fun and motivating in this video. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and would highly recommend this video to anyone interested in getting fit without paying a huge sum of money! Denise Austin is easy to follow and using the ball and/or dumbbells is a great way to tone and burn fat. The video is about 40 minutes long and although it is not a "cardio" workout I could still feel my heart rate getting up there. If your thinking about purchasing this DVD, buy it!! I promise you will see results!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this video!
This video tape not only toned all of my problem areas, but gave me energy and confidence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Okay She Has an Annoying Voice...
It is not a cardio workout nor is it advertised as one. It is two separate twenty minute workouts. 1-20 minute using only weights and the other using weights and the stability ball. I use this to tone and for the abdominals. I use Jane Fonda Step Aerobic or Billy Blanks Cardio for a CARDIO workout. I am working out and really don't care about her voice. I can ignore it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout
I use this video three times a week and I love it. I stretch out before I turn the video on, then I work out for a half-hour and quit. The video is almost two hours, so I get four work outs before I have to start the video over again. I like it because I get a better variety than my normal taebo videos, and they are all the more advanced workouts. Only buy this video if you are in pretty good shape, or you will get frustrated from the start. A couple of times during the video they seem to cut the reps short, and you have only worked out one side of your body. But other than that one flaw, this is one of my favorite workout videos, and has kept me in shape over this long winter.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not effective
This DVD makes you sweat BUT not effective. They have put many different classes on one DVD and it jumps from one exercise to the next very quickly. There are some routines that are only done on the left or right side...not both. Don't waste your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another addition to TaeBo
I am in my mid-twenties and have worked out to TaeBo Live series about 6 months before trying these. So I consider myself to be in fair to average "shape", and I still had a very tough time with the floor exercises that come at the end of each workout. The grueling but rather effective floor exercises are when I felt the actual abs and glute muscles 'work' the most. You will be on your feet the first portion of these workouts doing traditional TaeBo moves. These Ultimate Abs and Butt are both advanced workouts compared to my experience with TaeBo. In other words, if you try these having not worked out in a while or are out of shape, they'll be considerably difficult to finish (especially the floor exercises). You need to have completed at least the TaeBo Instructional and preferrably the TaeBo Basic programs before you attempt this. Billy Blanks is a good motivator, but it's slighty annoying that he doesn't finish each repetition set with you (you'll see). He demonstrates the movement several times then moves around to the other class members that are working out as he "cheerleads" them and the viewer to complete the reps. I would rather see him complete each workout as the viewer has to do. The upbeat music is in tune with the exercises and is motivating. These workouts are not perfect and while each movement is adequately demonstrated sometimes the reps move too quickly which can be dangerous to keep proper positioning. The reps for each side for example left and right leg are NOT always even. Lastly, this is a series of several different classes worth of exercises (supposedly the butt and abs targeting portions) assembled as a complete workout. That is to say, you can see Billy's and the class members outfits change every few minutes. That is different from the TaeBo Live programs which are start to finish taped workouts with the same people exercising. That difference may not bother many people, but I prefer the live style. Though not suggested in/ on the product, I think that you will need an exercise mat to be comfortable on the floor for as long as the abs and butt floor exercises take (better for back of head, knees and general comfort). You luckily don't need any special equipment, but a chair to hold on to for the standing part of the workout might help. The butt workout is around 40 minutes, and the abs workout is just under an hour. Overall, I don't regret purchasing as I got two different, complete workouts on one DVD, and I would recommend this product given my guidelines above. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to Tai Chi
As someone coming new to Tai Chi I wanted a medium which would allow me to easily repeat a particular section until I become comfortable with it. This DVD meets that requirement and more. I have found Paul Lam's explanations to be very thorough and free from jargon, and I am sure that after a few weeks I will start to derive some real benefits.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best way to get into tai-chi (besides live instruction)
This program enables anyone interested in learning tai-chi off to an enjoyable start. This video/dvd version by Dr. Paul Lam shows the 24 forms in different perspectives - including the full form facing you as well as back to you, which is very considerate for the absolute beginner which these videos are geared towards (I previously bought a video by another teacher which supposedly is geared to beginners as well but I didn't appreciate the version because the instructor faces the viewer leaving you to move in the opposite direction then does the complete form in silouhette lighting this video by Dr. Lam is much more considerate in that manner).

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Instructional Video of the Standardised 24 forms
It is an excellent 2 hours instructional video of the standardised 24 forms. All the instructors are of high level, and explanations are very clear. The tape has 3 parts. The first part teaches 6 Qigong exercises. The second part teaches the 7 most important/difficult movements of the form. The third is a detailed instruction of all the 24 movements. Each movement is split in several parts and it is shown from different angles. At the end of the video, there is a complete demonstration of the 24 forms from the front and from the back views. There are instructions how to use the video for learning efficiently the 24 forms. However, it isn't enough for the absolute beginner. The video assumes that the viewer has a previous training either from a teacher or from al least one of other basic videos of Dr. Lam (eg. Tai chi for older adults, Tai Chi for Health).

5-0 out of 5 stars Go to the Head of the Class!
This is truly a marvelous video especially to be used as a study guide between classes. I used it in conjunction with a weekly class on the 24 Form with an instructor. I quickly went from novice to the head of the class. Now, when the instructor tells the students, "I know the class is crowded, but, if you cannot see me, watch Pat". I feel very proud. I could not have done it without Dr. Lam. Get this tape. It is an inexpensive way to Tai Chi stardom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Lam-- professional, standard Yang short form
Dr. Lam and some of his assistants in this DVD have won medals in China in Tai Chi competition. This reflects their standardness and conformity to the Yang style. If you want the standard stuff, and are not willing to settle for watered-down, careless, or altered versions, this is it. This will show you the Yang Short Form as true to its original developers. I have not had any instruction in karate or any martial art, but was able to follow the individual form presentations fine without having to go to the final demonstration.
I believe that much thought and care was put into the development of the forms to the end of maximizing the benefits to the flow of Chi in different parts of the body, with the attendant health benefits. Departing from or altering the forms could cut across the gains to be had from this. So I say be as standard as possible to reap the full benefits of Tai Chi.
I looked at several other Tai Chi DVDs. Some of them were at a lower level than the Yang Short Form. One of them was at a higher level-- showing 48 forms. The Yang Short Form was developed with the idea of having a set of forms that pretty much the whole population of China could do on a daily basis. The intention was to cut down on health care costs by promoting the preventative health care benefits of Tai Chi. So they needed high participation, and they couldn't make it difficult to learn. They also couldn't have it take much time. It takes only 4 - 6 minutes. Leading practitioners of Tai Chi were given the job of sifting through the larger body of Tai Chi forms and practices to come up with a set of exercise forms that would maximize health benefits in a short period of time. I respect the product of this work, and wanted to stay as close to it as possible. If you think this may be too much for you to start with, ask yourself "Do I think I can understand and apply as well as 80% of the Chinese population?" You probably can. If you think so, don't start out with a lower level "beginning" DVD. As far as a higher level, you can go on to that once you have this down. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An oldie but goodie!
I started Walk Aerobics with the 2 Mile Walk and love it. My video is worn out so I needed to get something new. I purchased this set because of cost and it looked like it was going to give me a little more to choose from. Though it is "old" in dress and music, it still does what it says it will. I highly recommend Leslie Sansone's Walk Aerobics. Who cares how the people are dressed compared to today? Not me. As long as the workout is helping me accomplish my goal of being healthy with excercise, I'm satisfied!

2-0 out of 5 stars Older Walking Workout Set with Leslie
    This 3-DVD set includes:
    - Miracle Mile DVD
    - 2-Mile Walk
    - 4-Mile Weight Loss Walk

If you are a veteran of the Walk Away The Pounds walking program, you will have no problem completing these walking workouts. It is a do-able supplement to the Walk Away workouts, for days when you don't want to use weights and need a little more variety. These DVDs do not have any strength training, and uses very little in the way of arm movements. They are purely cardio workouts.

However, there are a few things that really date these DVDs. Be aware that they are a re-released old workout from 1992. The music is very dated. Leslie is also continually referring to using a VCR with the workout: "Fast forward to the cool down" or "if you didn't catch this step, rewind and do it again." The clothes and hair styles also really date this DVD, from the "big sock" look to the layered leotards.

The moves themselves are more complicated than her Walk Away workouts. For example, she has you doing several variations on side steps - lots and lots of 80's style grapevines, stepping to the corners at an angle, and even backwards side steps.

The bonus features on all of the DVDs include a short biography of Leslie (non-interactive), and a URL link to Current Video (the manufacturer). For example, The 2-mile DVD features a three-minute introduction, where the walkers themselves are interviewed about the walking workouts and their success with them. Leslie then introduces the walkers (the same walkers as the "Miracle Mile" DVD). What I really appreciate about Leslie's choice of walkers is that they are "real" people. One of the walkers lost over 100 pounds!

While I really appreciate Leslie's Walk Away Workouts, I find this release to still need some tweaking (how about a make over?). I only use it occassionally, to throw some variety into my workouts. If you're bored, and looking for something else to try with Leslie, give this a go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Workout
This re-released DVD offers three different DVD's:

The first DVD is the "Miracle Mile". This offers a great workout if you are in a hurry one morning or you just do not have the energy to pursue a two or three mile workout. Yes, the DVD is dated, looks to be early 90's to me, but the workout is just as good as her current releases! As long as I am sweating and I feel good, I do not mind the dated looks, styles, etc.

The second DVD is the Two Mile Challenge. It is not hard at all and takes all of 25 minutes. This is what I do on a regular day and I can DEFINITELY feel AND see a difference-even within just a week. Just between us girls, my legs and the ::gasp:: cellulite is actually going away and firming up! (I've had a big struggle with this, but I do have a small case of it). I feel better and look forward to getting up and working out before even worrying about breakfast!

The third DVD is the Weight Loss 4 Mile Challenge. It contains three segments. The first segment is only 1 mile long in which Leslie walks by herself doing her "common" walkaerobic moves and feels more like a warm up to me. During the second segment, Leslie is joined by two older ladies and one older man. The moves are the same, but longer and more intense if that makes sense. This segment is 20 minutes long which includes a 1.5 mile walk! In the third segment, Leslie is joined by three younger ladies, which is where the challenge really kicks in. After going 2.5 miles, you have to give it everything you've got to make it. This segment is also 20 minutes long with a 1.5 mile walk. Followed by a cool-down, this is my absolute FAVORITE L.S. Walking DVD.

I highly recommend these DVD's for anyone who likes to walk in the comfort of your home, lose weight sensibly, variety of workouts and who do not have alot of time for working out. Leslie is an angel! Her programs are absolutely amazing. Remember, activity before food, and you'll stay healthy always!

Good Luck and God Bless! :)

P.S. One more thing I forgot to mention, when I started segment two of the 4 mile walk, I felt as if I was learning Salsa moves! Leslie wants you to tap, put your hips into it, so on and so forth. Later on, I kinda laughed to myself with Leslie said, "C'mon, it's just like the Mambo". This is why I LOVE Leslie and this DVD--it just does not feel like "working out" but you come out sweating everytime. Have fun!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great work-out!
The Walk series are absolutely fantastic! I've been a walker for many years, going about 4 miles a day three to four times a week plus. This is great when the weather is bad and the treadmill gets way too boring. Leslie keeps you motivated and makes the workout fun! I also have asthma and have no problems doing this workout, where I have difficulty with any aerobic type routines! Great if you're just starting out or if you exercise regularly!

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely love these DVDs
My sister recomended these DVDs to me a few months ago. She has four kids currently-all in the space of just under six years. When I saw her last, she had lost SIXTY pounds just doing these DVDs a couple of times a week. I just had my second child, and after a dibilitating car accident, well needless to say, I need to loose a lot of weight. So I decided to try these DVDs. I have had them a little over a week and have done both the one mile and the two mile-infact I just finished the two mile a few minutes ago. They are great! They are very low impact-I have bad knees from the car accident, and a plate in my left arm, also from the accident, and I can do the two mile without any pain in my knees, and I can do push ups which I haven't done in almost four years! They are fun and easy, and I can tell already that I am loosing weight. It only takes a half hour to do the two mile, which I can still do with two kids. I also like this because I am so much overweight, I can do this in the comfort of my own living room, without the uncomfortable stares of other people at the gym or the track. Also, you can move around up and back, side to side, but you don't have to. It is very flexable. Currently I am living in a hotel room in MS while my husband is in Air Force training, and I can do it easily in my 12x9 hotel room. I highly recomend this to anyone who will listen ... So buy and enjoy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toning workouts! Fun & Easy!
I love this dvd! I've tried many other workout videos, and this one is my favorite. It gives you a better workout in just 10 minutes & is fun to do. It contains 9 different toning workout segments, each are 10 minutes for different body parts (abs, arms, legs, buns). You get to pick which segments you want to do to customize your workout, whether you want to do 10 minutes, 20 or 30. In just 10 minutes you get a great workout & can really feel it.

It's fun because you can always do a different combination so it doesn't get boring. And each of the 9 segments are not your typical exercises. For example, if you're tired of doing ordinary crunches, the ab segments have so many different crunch variations as well as other great ab exercises.

The exercises are easy to do. The instructors explain the routines, keep you motivated & are fun to workout with.

The exercises are designed to give you maximum results in minimum time. It's great for people who don't have a lot of time for exercise - who can't spare 10 minutes?

5-0 out of 5 stars What A Find!!
I bought this DVD a few months ago based on the reviews I read here at the Amazon site - all saying what a great toning/spot exercise DVD this was. Well, I'm happy to say the reviewers were right!

Now, if you are looking for an overall body workout that includes cardio, this isn't the DVD for you. But, if you are like me and use other tapes or DVD's for the cardio aspect of your workout but also want to get in some toning and spot work after the fact, buy this DVD! The wonderful thing about it is that you are able to choose between 9 different workout segments, program from one to three segments at a time and mix and match them daily so that no two workout days are alike. I really love this option because there are days where I've already worked my buns and legs to death but haven't done much in the way of abs and arms. No problem - I just put in this DVD and choose one of the three ab 10 minute ab workouts and the 10 minute arm/upper body workout and the problem is solved. Also, the nice thing about each of the 9 segments is that there's a little countdown clock in the lower corner of your TV screen that lets you know where you are at in the segment and how much longer you have to push yourself before you're done. I like this because some days I just want to be done with my workout and that little clock works as a psychological motivator to tell me "it's almost over... only 3 minutes to go..."

The instructors on this DVD are really good as well - so much so that I've become a fan of Minna Lessig and have bought both her Balanced Blend workout and her Emergency Workout and haven't been disappointed with either and highly recommend them both as well. The only additional item you'll need for this DVD is a set of hand weights for the arm and arm/leg segment and then... get ready for a great spot/toning workout! You won't be disappointed!!

1-0 out of 5 stars TOO CHEESY
Mina Lessig is an nnoying Denise Austin type. She tries soooooo hard at being cute or sexy that she BUGS ME immensly. Nancy Popp is good, but the workouts don't do it for me, they are repetitive and cumbersome. i'd recommend anything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gets to the point
Pluses: Tough enough to challenge a solid intermediate; all the segments are different; Minna Lessig; the DVD provides the ability to set up any combination of up to 3 out of the 9 10-minute segments; generally useful editorial tips during the exercises from the 3 leads.
Minuses: 3 buns segments and only 1.5 for each of arms and legs (2/2/2 would have been preferable); occasional prattle between the 3 leads.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I got this less than a week ago and tried all the programs straight through, as well as using the "blender" feature. Wish there was one of these for aerobics! I loved Nancy Popp in the Steel 2000 series and she's just as good here. Some of the segments are easier than others so there's a perfect workout for every day here! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Tamilee Workout Yet!
This is my favorite workout!!! I am amazed that a 15 minute workout can sculpt my muscles like this one does.

The abs and arms workout focus mostly on the arms so if you are trying for six pack abs you'll have to do all three workout in one session. I love the fact that Tamilee concentrates on building arms in this video. I have my grandmother's big arms and this video has sculpted my arms into a much more desirable shape! The abs portion of the workout is good and has definitely shaped my upper abs but I really love it for the arm workouts.

The lower body workouts are great too! This is the first workout video that I've viewed in a while that works the inner and outer thighs. I like the fact that there are sliding lunges because it is a little easier on my knees. All in all this video is great for the body and it only take 15 minutes a day! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great place to start
I bought this for my husband, because the usual beginner tapes/dvds were too advanced for him. He actually went through the entire time, and said he felt better afterwards. Any other dvd, he would have only lasted about 10 minutes.

Then... I became sick, and didn't practice yoga for almost two months. This was a terrific practice for me, to get back into the swing of things. Not too hard, but a good stretch and flexibility session.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for beginners!
I chose this DVD because I would definitely consider myself an "extreme" beginner at yoga. I'm not very flexible and I've always felt self-conscious about my coordination. But I also have a weak back and I know I need to lose weight and exercise more. I LOVE this DVD. Evamarie immediately sets a relaxed and very manageable pace. Her voice is soothing and her manner is very down to earth. She has no one-legged balancing poses or "pretzel" positions (thank goodness for me), but what she does have is sufficiently challenging to make me feel like I've had a good workout. She is very explicit about proper form and allows for plenty of options if any pose feels out of your comfort zone. The outdoor setting is pleasing to eye, and the classical music is ambient without being overpowering. I feel like I'm well on my way to finally get into shape! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Introduction to Tai Chi
"...because he is alive to difficulty. That is why he meets with no difficulty." ~Lao Tzu

Firstly this workout DVD has so many features it was quite amazing. If you are new to Tai Chi this is a perfect place to start. The music is soothing and exotic, the scenery is beautiful and the instructor's voice is calming.

Secondly, I could actually do the workout on the first try. Tai Chi looks difficult when it is done too quickly. On many other DVDs I felt that I could not learn the moves fast enough so I gave up. Scott Cole moves at a perfect pace.

Scott Cole focuses on guiding you through Tai Chi postures and training techniques. He blends martial and healing arts in order to empower you and motivate you to move in a healing direction. He was named one of the Top 5 Fitness Instructors in the world and has appeared in over 300 publications worldwide.

    DVD Contents:

    1. Play Features - Plays all the features

    2. Chapter Selections - Pushing the Wave, Beautiful Woman Turns Her Waist, Grounded Chi Journey in Hawaii, Parting Horses Mane

    3. Special Features - Postures with Narration, Postures With Music, Workbook Slideshow, Hawaii Workout to Music.

    4. Audio Features - Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1

The benefits of this DVD are immediately apparent:

    Renewed Strength
Upper Body Warming - blood flow definitely increases in the upper body.
    Increased Flexibility
    Increase in Energy and Confidence

This Tai Chi workout is the best I've ever tried. It was easy to learn the exercises and I also had a few great laughs because, well, some of the postures and movements are rather funny the first time you do them.

Once you have learned the moves you can then try the workouts with just music. Once you have memorized the workouts you may find yourself wanting to do the exercises outside. The exercise routines can be done almost anywhere and you need very little space to do them indoors at home.

however, you have to listen to a lot of New Age blabber. If you don't have much time to spend, have never done Tai Chi before, and you need a workout that is not too physically demanding, scott Cole's
