5-0 out of 5 stars Great DVDs.But why are they being sold for such high prices?
The DVDs are fantastic. However, save your money and buy the complete set from Costco for $120. People here have listed the USED sets for over $160? Come on guys..............

4-0 out of 5 stars Great set; Missing 1st original DVD
I've viewed 8 of these titles with 2 kids. These were the first videos my kids enjoyed at an early age and my 3.5 year old still likes watching them. These are the best early childhood videos I have found from both an engaging and educational point of view.

This collection is missing the original "Baby Einstein" which introduces 6 languages and is one of the better videos for <12mos babies. This is the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.

The older videos (Bach, Mozart) feature the creator's blonde-hair/blue-eyed daughters a bit too much and severely lack ethnic and gender diversity.

The middle videos (Shakespeare, Van Gogh) have extensive puppetry, better ethnic diversity, but still favor the daughters, women, and other girls. These are probably the favorites of my kids.

The newer videos (Neptune, Galieo) are produced by Disney and lose much of the original creativity and charm that made these videos great. They do have a balanced ethnic and gender diversity. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My wife bought this program for our kids
and I have to admit that it's not half bad for a drivers ed video. The graphics are nice and all the information you're looking for is easy to find. The multiple choice question quizzes are easy, but not half bad for preparing for the test I suppose.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Read The Manuel Instead
Cheesey video, bad interface, offers little instruction, tests are too easy to be useful. Save the money and go take a driving lesson from a licensed instructor instead. We purchased this to help with parallel parking. The topic is mentioned on the video but there is virtually no instruction. And so it goes with most of the other topics.....

5-0 out of 5 stars Effective, and cheaper than auto repairs and hospital bills
This was a birthday present to my daughter and it was quite a hit... pardon the pun.

I struggled with whether to give this 4 stars or 5. The user interface (UI) is a bit clunky, but the content and instruction is worth of the 5 stars.

The DVD tries to be interesting -- and it is interesting -- although it is borderline cheesey in the process. The important thing is the viewer won't bore easily with repetitive viewing which is important when you are getting something instructional like this.

At the end of sections, the DVD has a small quiz. That is a good idea, but the quizes are a little obvious and easy.

I guess the most appealing thing about this is it is easily increasing her abilities while she does what she does best: watch TV. That helps keep insurance costs down, I guess. ;-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent experience!
This is simply wonderful. Consider this a must have before getting your driver's license. It cuts through the theory and instead shows the practical things.

It has very nice sections explaining how to drive as well as 3D illustrations where they show parallel parking etc. I really liked the ability to be able to watch at different angles etc. It is well worth the price. The only reason for 4 stars is that it misses 3 point turns but so does the state's driver's manual.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great program
This program clearly has solid merit. It is very thorough and does the video does not seem like cheesey educational video stuff. Sometimes there's a few silly jokes, but nothing that would turn you away from the program. I was pleasantly surprised by the 3d illustrations -- thinking that they would be a really stupid gimick -- but they turned out to be quite useful. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best drum intro video out there
A perfect DVD for someone new to drums. Tommy first walks you through each piece of equipment, shows you how to arrange your drums, hold your sticks, and not make mistakes from the beginning.

But the best part is the 2nd half of the video where you get to learn to play. He teaches the basic rock groove, and then some variations - and throws in some fills to make it fun.

As a total beginner to the instrument, I was very surprised to see how quickly I could play along to basic songs after just watching the video.

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money!
I have been away from drumming for 18 years. I recently bought a new kit, and thought it would be a good idea to buy several instructional DVD's. While most of the information on this DVD is for true beginners, I still found it useful, informative and entertaining. Tommy is very personable! I recommend this DVD to anyone who needs a refresher or is thinking about getting started with a new drum kit.

5-0 out of 5 stars impressed
I ordered this dvd for my daughter along with her first drum kit. I dont have a point of reference because I haven't seen other dvd's on this subject but I don't believe they could make learning any more simplistic. Tommy has a laid back approach and many practice exercises encouraging you to work at your own pace. I now find myself playing the exercises on my daughter's drum kit along with her. Very informative for someone new to the drums.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you are getting 1 - This is it
After a 20 year absence from drumming.. i bought a drum set.. put it together and started playing. I ordered this dvd a few weeks later. Well the first thing I did after watching him set up the drums was take apart my drums and fix what i had done wrong.

As far as playing.. Ive checked hundred of web sites, downloaded lessons, and purchased 4 other DVD's to learn.. This is the best BY FAR. Several good fills, grooves to jam to.. its great. I never write reviews on stuff I get from amazon.. but had to give praise.. Buy many, you can't learn to much, but if you are just getting 1, get this one.. if you're buying many.. this is a must have.

Great DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing...a must buy for beginners
This is THE single video/DVD to buy for beginning drums. Tommy is an unbelievable musician, teacher, role model...everything! This video far surpasses all the other beginner videos out there. Parents if you're thinking of buying a drumming video for your child, this is the one to get.

Thanks Tommy for everything. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars For kids from 1 to 92?
What's great about Baby Shakespeare?

1. The children singing the ABC song (twice)
2. The format for teaching 12 words: train, flower, apple, cat, grass, frog, leaf, snow, tree, cow, butterfly, moon. They say the word, then show the word on screen, then say it again, then show a picture of it. The way they start with a rough sketch and morph into the real thing is also quite interesting.
3. Music by Beethoven
4. The poems have something to do with the words being taught.
5. Lots of cool and colorful toys - the Baby Einstein series really loves toys with figures that climb stairs.
6. Each segment starts with the click of a camera, so you know you're moving on to the next word.

What's not so great about Baby Shakespeare?

1. The actual theatre piece is only 28 minutes long. The 101 minutes on the jacket includes a concert and poetry recital. (This is video folks, not an audio cd)
2. Some of the toys are in the wrong places. The "cat" segment has footage of a worm in an apple, the "cow" segment has a train.
3. The poems are way above the level of the intended audience. Couldn't they have found children's poems?

I rated this 4 stars because my son loves it, especially the ABC song segments. I have to wonder though, how poems by Nash, Kinnell, Yeats, Frost and Wordsworth, among others, relate to a monkey with cymbals, and a flatulence joke among cows.

Kids from 1 year old will love the kidstuff, older folk will appreciate the poems, and try to remember the rest of the familiar ones.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves all the Baby Einstein Videos!
We have purchased all of the Baby Einstein videos and my daughter has enjoyed watching all of them since she was 2-1/2 months old. Baby Shakespeare is one of her favorites. She dances and laughs during the whole video. She even repeats the words. I do not find Julie Clark's voice annoying in the least. I think she does a great job with the poetry and my daughter seems to agree. I believe some people are reading way too much into a children's video, worrying about the lack of male voices or boys in the video. If you want to entertain your child and teach them at the same time, buy this video!

4-0 out of 5 stars (Mostly) Guilt-free Pleasure
To cut to the chase: This video entertains my 16-month-old son without fail, and has for the six months we've owned it. He's seen Baby Van Gogh, Baby Galileo, and Baby Neptune; this one remains his favorite. The gentle, quiet images and music--the other videos mentioned are all busier--seem to connect best with him in his generally calm household (and with his verbal parents). I recommend it with only a couple reservations, and they're contextual.

First, one can argue that the very young shouldn't get a lot of TV exposure, and I won't argue against that. Secondly, I can't tell that Alex is taking away a lot from this, only that he finds it more engaging than any other TV/video he sees, and we believe its content is wholesome and harmless... and that's what we ask of it.

Other Baby Einstein reviewers have ranted that the videos are "baby crack": mesmerizing, risking the creation of ADHD-speed attention spans, and indoctrinating about toy products. I think that's catastrophizing. My son watches this easily because it's colorful, simple, and has toys and kids in it--the things that interest him--without a lot of frenzy; he gets bored with cartoons or Sesame Street, but not this.

As other reviewers say: Maybe its greatest value is in holding little attentions for a half hour without damaging them, so bathroom or household tasks can be knocked out without howls and pleas for attention. I think it accomplishes this without turning Alex into a zombie, and he's always impressed that I know the ABC song or Julie's opening poem about the main character. Don't ask it to educate your child or babysit beyond one-showing's length, and I think you'll be happy (and mostly guilt-free) that it's in your house.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Educational DVD; Perfect "Time-Out" for M&D
Our daughter has been watching "Baby Shakespeare" since around 8 months. The language elements (each separate vignette tracks to a word, like "grass," "snow," "leaf," etc.) were a bit beyond her at first --it's not like she was repeating the words or anything -- but the combination of words, music (classical -- mainly Beethoven) and images make her giggle constantly and keep her riveted for about half an hour.

Officially, "Bard the Dragon" is the hero of the DVD, and our daughter is now sufficiently familiar with Bard so that she laughs at him as he frolics on screen. Other giggles come from the shots of the live kids singing the "ABCs," and from some of the toys that are shown on-screen during the musical numbers. Bard has other "friends" in the DVD, but they aren't on the screen as much, so our daughter hasn't gotten quite as "bonded" with them as she has with Bard.

The DVD has a few options, but you will probably find yourself hitting the main "Theater" option most. I recommend that you resist the temptation for auto-replay. This option seems to lead to burn-out for the kids faster.

5-0 out of 5 stars Puppets, Poetry, and Playthings
This was once my daughter's favorite video. Now it is fast becoming a favorite of my son's. It is called Baby Shakespeare but there are only a few lines of his used. This is similar to Baby Mozart with its footage of toys in motion and classical music, but this one has added poetry to the mix.

The video is broken into segments. Each segment begins with an opening curtain, a toy camera, and a word. The word is shown and a poem about the word is used. The poems are really not for children (especially the snow poem which is probably above many adult heads). There is then plenty of footage of toys in motion. The segments vary in length (Cat is really short). The segments then end with a closing curtain.

The credits attribute the music to Beethoven but there are at least two pieces using Mozart. This one also uses more in the way of puppets, especially Bard the dragon (he's on the cover of the box).

As a lover of classical music, I find this video far less annoying after numerous repetitions than many other children's videos. Just remember to turn this one off before the ending credits. After the sleepy final segment (Moon) hopefully lulls your child to sleep, the credits jump in with a rousing Ode to Joy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Important and entertaining
Edited by Edward Norton, this PBS series takes a look at the ways in which man has unintentionally altered his environment for the worse. Some examples include hermaphrodite frogs resulting from water pollution, out of control plant life which threatens the survival of ecosystems, and overfishing and its relation to coral reef degradation.

While this series is quite informative, it is also entertaining.Norton lends a good, serious narrative to the series, and though the series presents the audience with disasterous (or potentially disasterous) scenarios, the segments usually end with a success story or a glimmer of hope. For instance, one scientist engineers a plant to absorb, or "eat", the mercury which is polluting the waters.Another segment ends with a private farmer demonstrating environmentally-friendly farming techniques to preserve local water integrity.

Highly recommended.I doubt this series has the entertainment value to hold a young teenager's (or younger) attention for long, but anyone with even a passive interest in biology and/or the environment should be pleased with this series. ... Read more

Description

There’s no sound more thrilling than the walking bass notes and driving chords of traditional gospel piano, and there is no better way to learn it than from this 2-DVD set. Dr. Ethel Caffie-Austin, a formidable pianist, vocalist and educator, is steeped in the traditions and styles of the black church. She has a clear and concise teaching method and a desire to get you playing this heartfelt and inspirational music, even if you have never played it before.

Ethel teaches the basic melody of a hymn or spiritual, and then adds the chords and bass lines that will give the song a solid rhythmic foundation. Finally, by adding intros, runs, harmonies, fills and turnarounds, you’ll create a complete piano arrangement in true gospel style.

The well-known hymns and spirituals you’ll be playing include "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Standing in the Need of Prayer," "Angels Keep Watching Over Me," "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Show Me The Way," "Study War No More," "Jesus is on the Mainline," "Amazing Grace" and other beloved gospel standards. ... The 3-disc set, The Standard Deviants English Pack contains:

The Standard Deviants - English Composition
As with other Standard Deviants videos, this one begins with the warning that English Composition is meant to be used in conjunction with a class, not as a replacement. Well, for once, ignore them. Sure, nothing can replace an English comp class, and everyone should take one, but this video is probably the most valuable one you could watch before beginning your high school or college career. In fact, even for those in the real world, English Composition can help you brush up on your writing skills. Whether you need to write a lab report, a critical review, or a case study or summarize professional articles, this video gives you the know-how to write an effective paper from brainstorming through revision.

Nathan is your typical college freshman. Through confessional-style interviews, we learn of his traumas and achievements writing his first university assignment. From the moment his teacher gives him his assignment, we watch Nathan as he churns out--and rejects--a number of ideas. We share his satisfaction when he narrows his choices down. We share his pain at his not-great critique. We share his joy at his final rewrite. Okay, so maybe we're getting a little carried away--but using Nathan, humorous skits (including a genie who grants wishes), and clever graphics, the Standard Deviants cover characteristics of academic prose, getting started, collecting information, outlining, rough drafts, feedback, and lots of revision in a jocular way. Included with the tape is an insert that shows not only Nathan's assignment but the three versions of his paper, which incorporate the changes he's made. --Jenny Brown

The Standard Deviants - English Punctuation, Part 1
The rules of punctuation may not seem enjoyable or entertaining, but the Standard Deviants can at least help out in making the rules memorable with a cast of enthusiastic young performers who specialize in lighthearted but academically sound treatments of serious subjects. In The Untamed Worlds of English Punctuation, the troupe dons costumes (such as the uniform of a traffic cop) and hams it up while presenting lessons that begin by answering the basic question "What is punctuation?" The major "end marks" are then covered in a series of lessons that focus on the rules for employing periods, questions marks, and exclamation points. The uses of commas, semicolons, and colons are covered in a similarly lively manner, with useful tips, such as the "Furthermore Rule" to test the suitability of a semicolon. Following each set of lessons is a quiz that the student can take or skip, and the "Exclamation Exam," a comprehensive test covering all the material on the DVD, can be taken at the finish. There's only so much that can be done to make punctuation exciting, but the Standard Deviants do offer a multitude of offbeat examples. And fear not, the material included has all been approved by a serious academic panel. --Robert J. McNamara

The Standard Deviants - English Grammar, Part 1
English grammar is serious stuff, and there's only so much that can be done to make it entertaining. But the Standard Deviants, an energetic troupe of young performers whose specialty is making serious academic subjects engaging, happily dive into what they call "The Split-Infinitive World of English Grammar." The lessons on this DVD have been prepared by a panel of serious academics, but flashy graphics abound. And the performers do their best to liven up presentations of basic concepts. Nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other parts of speech are explained with some offbeat examples (for instance, a film of a lizard is used to demonstrate why "gecko" is a common noun). While introducing a section on verbals, a young woman mentions that a "funky thing" verbs can do is function as other parts of speech. Eventually all parts of speech are covered, and basic sentence structures are introduced. At the end of each set of lessons a quiz is presented, which a student can either take or skip. After proceeding through all the lessons on this DVD (which contains about two hours worth of material), a student can take the "Gram Slam," a comprehensive exam. English grammar will never be a barrel of fun, but the Standard Deviants deserve credit for making this review course as engaging as the subject is ever likely to get. --Robert J. McNamara ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Gorgeous Guide to Exquisite Female Pleasure
This is a wonderful video that demonstrates how to give a woman intense pleasure with your hands and mouth while forming an intimate connection. It focuses on a woman's pleasure, not penile/vaginal intercourse, which makes it perfect for couples that are not interested in viewing porn.

The video presents Tantric principles. Tantra is basically the achievement of physical and emotional intimacy through physical and spiritual connection.

This video takes place in a tropical water setting, features an attractive man and woman, and a pleasant musical soundtrack. The colors are vivid. Communication is a very large part of this video. The woman is always actively in control and her partner is always asking for guidance and permission. He asks, she guides. This is about her pleasure and his sole purpose for the moment is to fulfill her wants and desires. When he becomes distracted she refocuses his attentions.

The breathing and touching exercises demonstrated bring about focus, connection, and relaxation, i.e. intimacy; do not dismiss them as hocus-pocus because the techniques have Tantric names and seem odd to the Western way of thinking.

Once the couple is focused on one another, they begin a full body massage that incorporates oral stimulation, but not stimulation of the vulva. The purpose of the massage is to connect with a woman's entire body, not just her sexual organs, and bring about relaxation. Long connecting strokes are shown and this helps tie the body together, so she does not feel as though she has disjointed body parts; there is more to a woman than her breasts and vulva.

Communication is always maintained, demonstrating how a woman can receive sexual pleasure while guiding her partner through verbal guidance; talking does not take away from the experience. Once she is fully relaxed and ready, they begin a yoni (yo-nee), vulvar, massage and cunnilingus. She guides him in every detail, clearly explaining her wants. She has well defined genital structures that are easy to identify and visually pleasing.

When she is appropriately aroused he asks permission to entering her body with his fingers. G-Spot stimulation in then demonstrated and the texture of the vaginal wall and G-Spot during arousal are discussed. She then proceeds to have an intense orgasm. She does not ejaculate, but her female fluids are clearly visible on his fingers. She then experiences an emotional release during G-Spot stimulation; that is she starts crying. This demonstrates how G-Spot stimulation can be very intense for a woman.

When the giving of pleasure is concluded, the couple spoon, lying side-by-side front to back, and cuddle. They also demonstrate acknowledging and thanking each other for the pleasure they have given and shared.

Couples can take turns being the God/dess. While this video features a man and woman, female couples can learn from it too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Renewed, Honored, and Empowered me
I was delighted to find GODESS WORSHIP! Being married for five years, raising a toddler and running a small business, I'm pretty tired and busy! Our sex life has suffered lately and I was looking for something to spark it. Well, GODDESS WORSHIP did just that and more! Gently guiding us to a new level of intimacy, my husband and I reconnected on a very deep new level.  Sexually I feel renewed, honored as a woman, and very powerful.  Thank you!

5-0 out of 5 stars We really appreciated the Goddess Worship video
My husband and I have been together for 8 years and we've recently been
going through a very busy period in our lives (he has a demanding corporate
job, I'm running my own translation business and we have a one year old
baby). We had been feeling more and more "disconnected" from each other
until I realized it was because we hardly had time for sex anymore and our
sexual encounters were getting less and less focussed, my orgasms were sadly
getting less and less intense and somehow boring. I read about the Goddess
Worship video on a sex education website ...

Not only was the tape very pleasant to watch but it really started us
talking about our relationship, our sex life and above all it showed us that
we desperately needed to reconnect physically and spiritually. It has helped
us tremendously and I feel that the love between us has come back, even
stronger than before (and I don't dream about ex-lovers anymore).
I'll definitely recommend this video to my friends and whoever is open
minded enough to hear about it. It is so educational too.

And by the way, the Goddess and the Goddess Worshipper look great.

Thank you Dr. Corynna Clarke, and good luck in spreading your message
of love. Also, we are so glad to have been introduced us to Jillian Speers
through the video. Her music and the entire soundtrack were beautiful,
sensual, erotic, and wonderful to enjoy during romantic times together. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Standard Deviants, funny, well informed - My kid loves it!
My son watched the algebra 1 dvd many times, and even in preference to cartoons on a sick day. He learned to solve all of the problems presented on the interactive quizes laughing out loud all the while. I have a degree in math, and have worked in math intensive engineering work for many years, and I am impressed with the intuitive and amusing treatment of polynomials, definitions of functions, relations, solving equations, and many vocabulary terms the kids need. It is all too rare that a group can make good math this fun. I hope that the Standard Deviants will do many more. Buy this for your kids! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Usefull Introduction
This video was great in helping to introduce my 2-year old to the potty, but don't expect to buy it and have a potty trained child! Children won't potty train until they are ready, and any adult attempts to alter this instinct, will result in frustration all the way around. The song is catchy, and the concepts are clear for little children to understand. I disagree that this video is a waste of money, I found it a helpful tool to help my son to understand the "potty" concept in a child-friendly manner.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice start to potty training
I ordered this video after I had already tried to get my son to sit on the potty. He was about 2 years old, and was exhibiting signs of readiness, but he was not interested in sitting on the potty. When the video arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see the little boy's name in the video was Joshua (same as my son!) This helped tremendously! The song does have a tendency to stay in your head all day, so be careful singing out loud! The video was not the sole reason my son learned to use the potty, but it definitely contributed to his success. I would suggest using it along with other methods (books, if your child is interested, rewards, etc.) Good luck!

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I didn't this video was great at all. The songs are okay. They can be better. And the visual is terrible. First of all, the potties that are portrayed in this video are not all something that a 2 year old would grasp as looking anything remotely close to a toilet. It's very confusing. This video also refers to the different ways that you use the toilet in only one certain way. This makes it difficult for a child of a certain background to understand exactly what the video is trying to teach.

ex. Not everyone will call #2 poopoo or poo.

I think this video needs a lot of work. And it is way too short!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved It!
My 3 yr old and 2 yr old love to mimic the kids in this movie. My Boys watch this movie while sitting on the potty. both are now potty trained! It's a wondreful video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rented it for my first son, buying it for the next 2
My older son is almost 5 and we STILL remember the potty song! This video was THE final puzzle piece to potty training for us. Right after Joshua used the potty successfully in the video, my son ran over to the potty (with the video still on) and did it too. My twin boys are almost 2 and I'm ordering the DVD for them. I'm hopeful for the same success this time around. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 26 Months and still requests
My son (26 months) still enjoys baby einstein, especially the CD now. We practice saying the alphabet, numbers and other words in numerous languages. His confidence with foreign language can be directly attributed to this video/CD as it was his only exposure for the first 2 years. Now, my husband and I are learning the other languages along with our son. We count in spanish, french, and german - our son can count in japanese we can't discern the sounds well enough, but he can. We also own baby mozart, bach, newton, doolittle and shakespeare. All of them are requested on a regular basis and preferred to blue's clues and the other "more entertaining" TV he is exposed to. When we listen to the radio with classical music, he will tell us which video the music comes from. We watch shakespeare before going to bed and listen to the poetry before going to find a book to read. These materials have enriched all of our lives and hopefully they will do the same for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars An educated parent's $.02
I had to add my input after reading all the reviews, positive and negative. This video does indeed appear "homemade." However, the creator (Julie Clark) and her husband, who does all the video, have gotten progressively more sophisticated with each video, although I would not recommend any of the Baby _____ videos for their video quality. Regardless, they are captivating to young babies. My six month old son has been watching all three, Einstein, Mozart and Bach since he was one month old. I was very dubious regarding the claims that they would interest a baby this young. He reacted with delight then, and continues to enjoy them all. He has just started watching Baby Shakespeare which seems to be his favorite, so don't be afraid to start your baby early on this one. I would suggest if your baby doesn't take to it the first time, give it a second try. You can get all the adult opinions you want, but really, it's how your baby reacts that counts! It's been designed to appeal to babies and their view of the world.

1-0 out of 5 stars does not fit age suggestion
This video would be ok for an older child. The majority of the video is in different languages. They don't even give you subtitles to help the children possibly learn the other languages. There are only a few in english. The only section where you can select an English only part (DVD) they only do the alphabet and count to 20. My 7 month old is very attentive with these videos, but even he was not entertained, not even by the colors.

4-0 out of 5 stars It made my 3-month-old squeal with delight!
Although we limit the amount of TV our daughter watches, we let her start watching this video at 3 months for the colors and movement. She actually squealed with delight each time she watched it!

The video shows colorful graphics and toys while people say the alphabet, count to 20 or say a nursery rhyme in many languages. I only wish there were a translation for each nursery rhyme with the video.

We have several other Baby Einstein videos and this one and Baby Shakespeare are her favorite! We like the music on Baby Bach, but agree that the videography is not as good and there are too many features of Julie Clark's children.

1-0 out of 5 stars not entertaining for babies
The concept is ok. My 9 mo old daughter could not care less about this video and i can hardly stand to watch it either. You have no idea what they are saying in the other languages. What's going on on the screen has nothing to do with what they're saying. My advice: music & babies - these two things will keep your little one very content so you can take a little break. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better Baby Einstein DVDs
This was the first Baby Einstein DVD we purchased and our son, who was about a year old then and is now 16 months, has enjoyed it very much. He is a very active child but for quite a while he would sit completely still to watch, and now he has hand motions for some of the scenes and applauds at the end. As other people have mentioned, the animal footage is more interesting for an adult to watch than the endless parade of toys that fill up a lot of the other videos in the series (especially the classixal music ones). I personally like the quiet atmosphere of the video -- no loud noises, flashy pictures or dialogue -- just animal footage, adorable puppet shows and a small number of toys. My son has learned to recognize the animals shown and even has favorite scenes. Definitely get DVD because the baby will want to watch "continuous play"!

5-0 out of 5 stars our seven month old loves it
I think it's hard to review Baby Einstein videos, because as an adult there are so many things that seem annoying or bothersome that are not so for my child. Yes, I find the kids dressed up in animal costumes annoying, but my son loves them. The puppetry (in this one especially) doesn't make any sense to me either, but my son loves it.

We own 8 various Baby Einstein videos, some DVD and some VHS and my son likes this one as well as all the others. We also own the Neighborhood Animals video and I don't really understand why some reviewers prefer it over this one. They are slightly different, but my son doesn't prefer one of them over the other (at this age anyway). The only thing I've noticed is that he likes to have a variety rather than watch the same one every day (that's how our collection got so big). As a parent, I actually enjoy watching World Animals with him more than Neighborhood Animals, because I find the videos of the animals more interesting. While I would prefer to watch a nature special on PBS, my son enjoys the way Baby Einstein breaks up the footage with animation and puppetry (however corny it seems to me), it helps his short attention span out.

I do recommend the DVD over the VHS if you are choosing between the two. The DVDs are a much better value in my opinion. We've already begun to wear out our VHS tapes (the sound is garbled in spots now) and I love the interactive flash cards and other extras that come with the DVDs.

All in all, my son watches this video over and over again even back to back sometimes and loves every minute. To me that says it all.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful!
my dd loves this movie! she danced to all the music and loved seeing the animals. the puppets made her laugh (she just turned one). the colors are wonderful and keep her attention. if your child loves animals, then they will love this movie!

5-0 out of 5 stars My boy's favorite
My little guy, now 13 months, has totally been in-love with this DVD since 3 months of age. His father and I love it, too! The animals and music are fantastic!

5-0 out of 5 stars beautiful, colorful animal footage
This DVD has beautiful footage of animals in their habitats. It's broken into 3 main categories of Animals in the Jungle, Animals in the Ocean, and Animals on the Savannah. In the Jungle section, the animals shown are: Tiger, Tropical Bird, and Monkey. The Ocean segment features: Sea Turtle, Dolphin, and Fish. The Savannah segment shows: Elephants, Giraffes, and Lions. Each animal has about 5 minutes dedicated to it which includes a musical video, toys shown of that animal, and a mini puppet-show that introduces the next animal. I bought it for my 2 yr old son because he loves Elephants and it's been a hit (he loves the whole thing). ... Read more
