5-0 out of 5 stars Dirty Salsa Gets EVEN HOTTER for summer!
This DVD is an excellent follow up to the first salsa dvd. After learning all the moves and wowing everyone at my local salsa club, I was excited to see that a new video was released! Just in time for summer. And once again with the very mesmerizing instructor Gigi! This DVD has an amazing energy flow that will inspire you to learn more complicated and eye popping moves that will fool people into thinking you spent TONS OF MONEY on your very own salsa instructor. Funny thing is purchasing this Salsa DVD is even better and very affordable for all! Perfecting my moves with Gigi and Pedro will last me a lifetime of salsa club dancing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bought it for myself, my sister, my boyfriend...
The instruction is very clear and compelling -- it builds nicely onQ&DG to Salsa Part1, and even though the complexity of the intermediate level is much higher, this video has the same easy-gliding feel about it as Part1. You don't have time to get scared, next thing you know, you are already doing the moves you thought were the domain of the pro dancers! And above all, this video gave me the inspiration I needed to work harder than ever, it triggered my ambition!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Packed With Hot Moves
This DVD is awesome. If you are a decent Salsa dancer, this DVD is the resource that you always wanted. It might take you months to master all the moves, but it won't cost you thousands of dollars that you will have to spend otherwise in classes like a few of us has done. It's packed with hot Cuban moves that will make any good leader drool. The followers love it when you execute the complex and traditional turns on this DVD. My girlfriend had a smile on her face all evening when I clumsily tried the turn "Beso" with her. Beso means Kiss.

Highly Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick and Dirty Pt. 2
I ordered the first dirty guide to salsa based on the reviews and I thought it was very good. I just got this one and it is just as good maybe even better. It is longer and it's packed with a lot of different moves. The dvd angles are great especially the high angle. I still haven't gotten around to mastering the first one so it might take me a bit to get through part 2. Oh and if you are getting the second one it would do you good to get the first one as well becuase they refer to the moves on the first dvd but you can probably get by with just watching them do it. Oh and if you are looking for a video that is slow paced you might want to try something else becuase it does seem to move fast but then again you can just keep replaying it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning Salsa? A must have DVD!
I am a regular user of this DVD.
To begin with, this DVD is a great transition from Part 1. Just when you begin to get comfortable with the basic steps and want to move ahead, here comes Part 2 with a wealth of new moves, steps, turns and taps. I love the 'tap' and I think it's the best introduction in Part 2. It just adds so much more to every step and turn.

The overall faster pace of this DVD is also appropriate. You don't really want to take that much time over every step, now that you are in the intermediate level!

I find the instructions, moves and steps depicted in a very explicit and vivid style, so much so that even if you just watch the lessons, you seem to remember the steps and the sequences very well. (I guess it's also the multi-angle!).

This salsa DVD part 2 is just so good and I hope the best is yet to come with Part 3!
Digifilm has a way of breaking every other as well as its own record with each new DVD it releases. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the moderatly overweight/moderately out of shape
I just got this DVD today and finished the workout a few minutes ago. I can definitly feel the burn in my abs, and I can tell my arms and legs will be a bit sore tommorrow! I am a 20 yr old college student, about 30 lbs overweight, not toned at all and pretty much out of shape but not completly (I can jog a 12 min mile and then I have to walk for a few minutes before I can even think of jogging some more). I found this video to be at a good level for me, and I think if I was less or more in shape it would still be good. I could do all of the exercises, although I could not get the full range of motion on a few (that was in part because while Denise reccomends 3-8lb weights, I only have 10 lbs). Denise talks constantly, and I found that motivating, although I would definitly not buy a yoga or other relaxing workout from her! The first 20 minutes uses free weights and the second 20 minutes uses a stability ball and free weights. The DVD does not pause in between the workout sections, but it is clear that if you only want a short workout, the time when Denise gets her stability ball is the time to stop the DVD. I did the first 20 min, made a 10 min phone call, and did the second 20 min. I am pretty sure I could have done the tape straight through with only a quick water break in the middle, although I was definitly breathing hard and sweating light-moderate. (The workout is not exactly cardio, but since I am out of shape, the effort of lifting weights and switching positions brought up my heartrate to where it would be maybe a minute or two into a slow jog)I also really liked that there were many excersizes to work each muscle and very few reps of each, so the muscle was worked for enough time without the movements getting to repetitive. I also liked how a boring movement such as arm curls with weights was made a little more bearable by rocking back in forth. Overall, I liked this tape and I feel it really worked my muscles, and as I strengthen I can increase the weight and range of motion and still be challanged.

5-0 out of 5 stars gotta be one of the best
Denise Austin is very motivational and unlike other exercise dvds I have used, she uses the most efficient techniques to work on my exact problem areas, and all within 45 minutes! I love the combination of stretching, pilates, weights, and balance ball. I never stick to exercise dvds but I think I will this one because I totally see the difference!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Effective!!!
Denise Austin is THE fitness icon of today! She is fun and motivating in this video. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and would highly recommend this video to anyone interested in getting fit without paying a huge sum of money! Denise Austin is easy to follow and using the ball and/or dumbbells is a great way to tone and burn fat. The video is about 40 minutes long and although it is not a "cardio" workout I could still feel my heart rate getting up there. If your thinking about purchasing this DVD, buy it!! I promise you will see results!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this video!
This video tape not only toned all of my problem areas, but gave me energy and confidence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Okay She Has an Annoying Voice...
It is not a cardio workout nor is it advertised as one. It is two separate twenty minute workouts. 1-20 minute using only weights and the other using weights and the stability ball. I use this to tone and for the abdominals. I use Jane Fonda Step Aerobic or Billy Blanks Cardio for a CARDIO workout. I am working out and really don't care about her voice. I can ignore it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for a beginner / starting out
Almost 10 years ago, I got these in video form.As a beginner, who had a total lifestyle change to include my diet, Mrs. Fonda's Personal Trainer series really helped me lose weight, tone up, and be fit. I lost 20 lbs and have kept it off.I also had success after I had my son when I used her videos in combination with a 2 mile run 5 days a week. I also recieved complements on how my body looked, many people would ask me if I was a gymnast!:) Her workouts and fitness philosophy are right on.I highly recommend this series for anyone just starting out. They are easy on the joints, and have three women who demonstrate basic, intermediate, and advanced levels in each workout, as well as lead some of the workouts, so its not all Jane. The workouts really have some great basic moves for learning about the body in toning and stretch. The aerobics get the heart rate up, and the moves are simple. The aerobics section does require a little bit of space, enough to walk about 5 paces in each direction. I've moved up in my fitness level, but I still use this series for toning, stretch and when I just want to burn a few extra calories. I alternate my workouts with other videos like Gilad, Kaehler, and the 8min(ABS/BUNS)etc series, and I recommend these too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A remarkable lady indeed!
[...] If shoppers have something against Jane Fonda and wish not to buy her films or fitness videos that's fine but they should not be publicly allowed to encourage others do to the same.

Yes Miss Fonda made mistakes in the past for which she has profusely apologized on national television and in her biography `My life so far'. But whatever one's feelings, it is impossible to deny this woman's talent, intellect, complexity, dynamism and the contributions she has made (and still continues to make) to our society. Through her humanitarian work, Jane has more than made up for her past mistakes. She is a gifted vital figure, always challenging and dedicated. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and inspiring women of our time. A truly remarkable lady indeed!

Regarding her fitness videos, buy them without hesitations. I have used all of them except for a couple. They are very safe, beautifully made and if used correctly, extremely efficient. Jane huge range of videos has something for everyone whatever your age and fitness level. Jane is very motivating and a great example that we can stay fit and strong for ever if we look after ourselves. I would recommend Jane's video to anyone wanting to become fit, strong and healthy and stay that way.

Jane Fonda is back with a biography `My life so far' and a new film `Monster in law' with Jennifer Lopez. Welcome back Jane and whishing you all the best!

4-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful change of pace!
After experiencing a serious exercise burnout in the last year, I began looking for workouts to supplement my usual step aerobics/weight training regimen. I added yoga several months ago, and then a friend mentioned the NYC Ballet Workout book. Since I'm not one for exercising out of a book, discovering that a video would soon be released was very exciting. I have not been disappointed.

I have never studied ballet formally, but was familiar with the five basic positions and many of the other common ballet exercises. As a result, I fell in step quite easily and was able to concern myself more with proper form than might otherwise have been the case. The three warm-up segments had me laughing at my own clumsiness the first time around, but were much easier the second time I did the tape.

This workout won't be especially difficult for anyone who's either studied ballet or is in fairly good shape. I found certain things challenging (like holding the arms in second position for the whole of the tendu segment), but overall, I think this tape is aimed more at helping the viewer develop flexibility and strength without taxing the cardiovascular system to any great degree. I have found that I can do this tape at 9:00 in the evening and fall easily asleep at 10:45. You will be perspiring but have an overall feeling of tranquility at the end.

Even though I love this tape, I gave it only four stars because of what I perceive to be some minor problems. There is one bad edit in the stretching segment that threw me off at first. Peter Martins's cueing leaves a bit to be desired, and his instructions of "right" and "left" are from the dancers' point of view -- not from the perspective of the person following along. (I'm used to simply mirroring the people in workout videos and disregarding the narrator, so this is not a problem for me -- but could be confusing for others not experienced in doing that.) And finally, the dancers aren't always shown full-length, which makes it harder to know what the parts of their bodies that aren't being shown are doing at that particular moment.

But, as I say, these are minor matters in an otherwise terrific video. They certainly do not keep me from recommending the New York City Ballet Workout!

4-0 out of 5 stars New York City Ballet--Serious Workout!
I purchased the video because I have always admired the bodies of my dancer friends. Having studied A LITTLE ballet previously, I did not, like other reviewers, find it hard to "look and follow" the dancers movements. I also think that its possible to lose weight with this video. There are a few segments dedicated to jumping and quick flowing movements to get the heart pumping and the toning segments are fairly intense. When you tone your muscels you automatically burn caleries which, over time, burns fat. The upside to toning and any form of weight training is that your muscles continue to burn calories long after the workout! I enjoy this video and I always feel a LITTLE more graceful after its over. The only complaint I have is that the commentary [stunk]. The narrator's instructions NEVER matched the movements of the dancers. But all in all I think that this is a wise investiment if you want to improve your strength and flexibility while shaping your body. Oh, one more thing: DO NOT buy this workout because of the involvment of Sarah Jessica Parker--she's in it 30 seconds, tops!

4-0 out of 5 stars Simply Watch the Video First
Most of the complaints are about not being able to following along with the dancers. If you are not familiar with ballet simply watch the video first. of course of you watch it for the first time while trying to do it you will not be able to follow along. To point something else out. this is a Ballet Video not a kickboxing video. The narrators voice is soothing there would be no need for him to be shouting while you are trying to do ballet. I will say that there is no need to buy he second version of this CD because they both have the exact same content. This video has the best stretching exercise that I have ever done. I do the warm up on this video then do other videos in My collection. if you are looking to add variety to you workout this is a great video to add to your collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best ballet video for strenghening the body.....
I take open adult ballet class with the Houston Ballet 3 times a week and find this tape is invaluable for increasing my abilities in class. I have tried every other ballet video on the market, Melissa Lowe, David Howard, etc, etc....Somehow, I always seem to come back to the New York City Ballet Workout Video !!! The unique thing about this workout is that it changes my posture, so that I stand up really tall. It is magic. The "floor barre section" is excellent. It strenghens the legs and posture too. The abdominal section while hard, becomes easier if you do it everyday, like Peter Martins says, "This is what we do everyday" and so I do it everyday, 7 days a week, even when I have class. My back problems have disappeared too. I feel more centered. This is the only video that doesn't seem like a chore to do. And the music is enthralling. I find myself whistling along with the wonderful classical score. But then, what else would you expect but excellence, from a world class, world famous ballet company like the New York City Ballet. This video rules !!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent DVD
The New York City Ballet Workout offers is a great program
combining toning, flexibillity and even a little cardio with the ballet combinations and "little jumps" section. The hour it takes to complete seems to pass effortlessly- while the other tapes I have tried seem to drag along and leave me with a headache, instead of the renewed energy that this one gives me. Sure, its a workout, but it also leaves you feeling with a great sense of accomplishment and energy (and even after the first workout I felt "fitter" and it left me looking forward to the next time I would be able to play it).
I especially enjoyed the floor barre section- the stretches are hard (some of the things that the dancers can do seem impossible) but rewarding if you practice them, and your abs, back and arms get a really good workout (you'll be burning). I found that one of the hardest things about the DVD was keeping my arms up during the combiniations- it got kind of hard to concentrate on the steps when I was focusing on having the proper position with my arms.
Some of the draw backs on this DVD are that if you dont have experience in ballet your might have trouble with some of the steps- they arent explained by the narrater (the steps were easy for me because I have about five years of previous ballet experience). Actually, the narrater doesnt really explain anything- you mosltly just have to follow the dancers (who are amazing, by the way). I reccomend watching it over once before doing it so that on the floor bar you dont strain your neck by trying to do the excercise and watching the screen at the same time.
Another surprisingly thing about the DVD is that the extras are pretty cool- there are diaries of the dancers, interviews, and a "behind the scenes" section. They all offer an insight into the New York City Ballet Company.
In conclusion, I reccomend this DVD, but only to people who have a little experience in ballet. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "The Core" or Naked men do pilates on the garage floor
The DVD has the following menu: Workout; Scene selection; Pilates Principles; outtakes; slide show; and yoga secrets trailer. I bought this video because: (a) (...); (b) I'm interested in pilates; (c) (...) I would be learning some useful exercise at the same time (it's called rationalisation). Two young, well endowed, handsome men, black and white, perform 36 classic pilates exercises in about 40 minutes. The setting is a grungy garage and the men practice on mats placed on a very dirty looking floor - Grunge Pilates! (...). And, the camera stays firmly on the area I wanted to see - that is the core - which is so important in pilates! I can't say the pilates form was exceptional, but both men work hard and they look pretty much like the I look when I practice - you know - a bit shakey. After watching the workout, I viewed the outtakes - a montage of scenes during the making of the video with the boys larking about, suggestively and otherwise. I thought it was funny to watch after viewing the main workout. Fair dues to them both for keeping a (mostly) straight face during the workout. So, there you go. Two naked men doing pilates in a garage, and in a genre almost entirely female, I say more power to them. I may even do the workout one day. Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pilates Secrets - All Male Nude
I highly recommend this DVD. Not only is it visually appealing. It is also very educational and it works. I am seeing results after one week. I never knew that I had the capability for my abs to look as fabulous as they do. I give this DVD an A+++++++++++++ ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars In A Class of Its Own
Since I'm a Pilates fan, I have purchased many DVDs to practice the method. There are a few other videos that show magic circle, but they're way NOT like this DVD.

Classical Pilates shows good fundamentals of using the magic circle, and then they demonstrate a solid beginning workout. After that, they take you into a realm where only the most highly trained classical instructors can demonstrate effectively: a beautiful intermediate level and an advanced level that is superbly executed. As if all of these workouts were not enough, there is something called the Reformer Mat workout. I had never heard of this before. If you go on vacation and don't have your Reformer with you, you can practice all the Reformer exercises on the Mat! This workout is a sight to behold. The woman who performs this workout is so beautiful, strong, and pleasant in her demeanor, that she makes Pilates look like a sheer joy to do!

I have been telling all my friends and family about this DVD because it adds new interesting dimensions to regular Pilates mat exercises. If you get this DVD, you will want to tell your friends!

One last thing: the man that narrates the workouts coaches you with this really cool accent. I don't know where he is from, but his words and voice make me understand the Pilates exercises in ways I never dreamed of before. His voice lulls me into deeper wisdom about the Pilates method every time I listen to the DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magic Circle is a Blast!
The magic circle makes Pilates mat exercises fun! I love Pilates but lessons are expensive, so I can't take them regulary. With this DVD you can save a lot of $$$$ in lesson fees, but be aware that using the magic circle looks deceptively easy! The demonstrators are clear and straight forward, so I thought that's fairly easy. Well, it's not! It takes concentration and coordination, two very good things that apply in many other parts of life. But the fact is that everyone can use the magic circle with Pilates mat exercises.

The magic circle makes me feel my muscles more in the center of my body, the area that Pilates people call the Powerhouse. And you must keep your mind focused and completely 'present.' You don't have time to think about anything else, which is good! In this multitasking world, it feels like such a rare and satisfying experience just to be completely involved in what you are doing in the moment. And time flys right by! Woooosh! You're done! And you had fun!

There's also an extraordinary workout at the end of this DVD called the Reformer Mat Workout. This workout seems to be the final frontier of Pilates mat exercise routines. It is a awesome challenge for the mind and body, and I will be working on it for many years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastc Stuff
I really enjoy the Pilates class at my gym. My instructor sometimes teaches with a magic circle to liven things up. Pilates is a good complement to my cardio workouts and weight trainng. But I'm so busy sometimes that I wish I could workout at home. So I decided to get this DVD. The instruction is great, and the demonstrators are so good it's scary---scary in a good way. I could tell these guys take their work seriously.

This DVD has basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. Afterward, there is a beautiful creature showing something called "Reformer on the Mat Workout." It's fantastic to watch! And I've incorporated some of these exercises into my mat routine.

I'm really happy with this DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars A New Twist On The Mat
I hesitated buying this exercise video because I assumed adding a magic circle to Pilates mat exercises was a marketing angle. But I underestimated this video. There is a lot of substance and style, which made the $19.95 cost worth every penny.

At the beginning, the magic circle is not easy to work with. As you gradually learn the exercises, you start having fun. And you feel the difference! I felt Pilates mat exercises much better, much deeper in my muscles than before. The magic circle somehow makes exercises NEW by making your muscles work differently. You connect with the powerhouse directly!

After the magic circle exercise routines, there is something called the Reformer Mat Workout. The entire section is beyond my current ability, but I can do many of the exercises pretty well. These exercises definitely spice up my Pilates mat sessions. My new motto is "Wake up, hit the mat, then live it up!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Feeling Better Than Ever
I have always kept in moderately good shape all my life with swimming, walking, aerobics, tennis, and golf. Yet as time goes on (I'm in my 50s) I find it's very helpful to gain deeper muscular strength in such a way that I also increase flexibility. I wish knew about Pilates 30 years ago. But there's good news: it's never too late to start Pilates. Since I bought Classical Pilates other DVD, I thought I would give this one a try.

The magic circle Pilates workout is simultaneously gentle and physically challenging. It's also mentally interesting and keeps my attention. I don't get bored, which is very gratifying! Sometimes I workout on the treadmill, but it definitely does not challenge my mind. I can space out and watch TV or listen to music on the treadmill. But with Pilates, my mind and body must try to coordinate all the intriguing movements and goals to improving the movements.

I bought this video because it was recommened by a friend, and because of the reviews on Amazon.com. For $19.95 you cannot have a better Pilates training guide, unless you hire a teacher to come to your home.

Thank you for making this video. ... Read more

I use this video three times a week and I love it. I stretch out before I turn the video on, then I work out for a half-hour and quit. The video is almost two hours, so I get four work outs before I have to start the video over again. I like it because I get a better variety than my normal taebo videos, and they are all the more advanced workouts. Only buy this video if you are in pretty good shape, or you will get frustrated from the start. A couple of times during the video they seem to cut the reps short, and you have only worked out one side of your body. But other than that one flaw, this is one of my favorite workout videos, and has kept me in shape over this long winter.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not effective
This DVD makes you sweat BUT not effective. They have put many different classes on one DVD and it jumps from one exercise to the next very quickly. There are some routines that are only done on the left or right side...not both. Don't waste your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another addition to TaeBo
I am in my mid-twenties and have worked out to TaeBo Live series about 6 months before trying these. So I consider myself to be in fair to average "shape", and I still had a very tough time with the floor exercises that come at the end of each workout. The grueling but rather effective floor exercises are when I felt the actual abs and glute muscles 'work' the most. You will be on your feet the first portion of these workouts doing traditional TaeBo moves. These Ultimate Abs and Butt are both advanced workouts compared to my experience with TaeBo. In other words, if you try these having not worked out in a while or are out of shape, they'll be considerably difficult to finish (especially the floor exercises). You need to have completed at least the TaeBo Instructional and preferrably the TaeBo Basic programs before you attempt this. Billy Blanks is a good motivator, but it's slighty annoying that he doesn't finish each repetition set with you (you'll see). He demonstrates the movement several times then moves around to the other class members that are working out as he "cheerleads" them and the viewer to complete the reps. I would rather see him complete each workout as the viewer has to do. The upbeat music is in tune with the exercises and is motivating. These workouts are not perfect and while each movement is adequately demonstrated sometimes the reps move too quickly which can be dangerous to keep proper positioning. The reps for each side for example left and right leg are NOT always even. Lastly, this is a series of several different classes worth of exercises (supposedly the butt and abs targeting portions) assembled as a complete workout. That is to say, you can see Billy's and the class members outfits change every few minutes. That is different from the TaeBo Live programs which are start to finish taped workouts with the same people exercising. That difference may not bother many people, but I prefer the live style. Though not suggested in/ on the product, I think that you will need an exercise mat to be comfortable on the floor for as long as the abs and butt floor exercises take (better for back of head, knees and general comfort). You luckily don't need any special equipment, but a chair to hold on to for the standing part of the workout might help. The butt workout is around 40 minutes, and the abs workout is just under an hour. Overall, I don't regret purchasing as I got two different, complete workouts on one DVD, and I would recommend this product given my guidelines above. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An oldie but goodie!
I started Walk Aerobics with the 2 Mile Walk and love it. My video is worn out so I needed to get something new. I purchased this set because of cost and it looked like it was going to give me a little more to choose from. Though it is "old" in dress and music, it still does what it says it will. I highly recommend Leslie Sansone's Walk Aerobics. Who cares how the people are dressed compared to today? Not me. As long as the workout is helping me accomplish my goal of being healthy with excercise, I'm satisfied!

2-0 out of 5 stars Older Walking Workout Set with Leslie
This 3-DVD set includes:
- Miracle Mile DVD
- 2-Mile Walk
- 4-Mile Weight Loss Walk

If you are a veteran of the Walk Away The Pounds walking program, you will have no problem completing these walking workouts. It is a do-able supplement to the Walk Away workouts, for days when you don't want to use weights and need a little more variety. These DVDs do not have any strength training, and uses very little in the way of arm movements. They are purely cardio workouts.

However, there are a few things that really date these DVDs. Be aware that they are a re-released old workout from 1992. The music is very dated. Leslie is also continually referring to using a VCR with the workout: "Fast forward to the cool down" or "if you didn't catch this step, rewind and do it again." The clothes and hair styles also really date this DVD, from the "big sock" look to the layered leotards.

The moves themselves are more complicated than her Walk Away workouts. For example, she has you doing several variations on side steps - lots and lots of 80's style grapevines, stepping to the corners at an angle, and even backwards side steps.

The bonus features on all of the DVDs include a short biography of Leslie (non-interactive), and a URL link to Current Video (the manufacturer). For example, The 2-mile DVD features a three-minute introduction, where the walkers themselves are interviewed about the walking workouts and their success with them. Leslie then introduces the walkers (the same walkers as the "Miracle Mile" DVD). What I really appreciate about Leslie's choice of walkers is that they are "real" people. One of the walkers lost over 100 pounds!

While I really appreciate Leslie's Walk Away Workouts, I find this release to still need some tweaking (how about a make over?). I only use it occassionally, to throw some variety into my workouts. If you're bored, and looking for something else to try with Leslie, give this a go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Workout
This re-released DVD offers three different DVD's:

The first DVD is the "Miracle Mile". This offers a great workout if you are in a hurry one morning or you just do not have the energy to pursue a two or three mile workout. Yes, the DVD is dated, looks to be early 90's to me, but the workout is just as good as her current releases! As long as I am sweating and I feel good, I do not mind the dated looks, styles, etc.

The second DVD is the Two Mile Challenge. It is not hard at all and takes all of 25 minutes. This is what I do on a regular day and I can DEFINITELY feel AND see a difference-even within just a week. Just between us girls, my legs and the ::gasp:: cellulite is actually going away and firming up! (I've had a big struggle with this, but I do have a small case of it). I feel better and look forward to getting up and working out before even worrying about breakfast!

The third DVD is the Weight Loss 4 Mile Challenge. It contains three segments. The first segment is only 1 mile long in which Leslie walks by herself doing her "common" walkaerobic moves and feels more like a warm up to me. During the second segment, Leslie is joined by two older ladies and one older man. The moves are the same, but longer and more intense if that makes sense. This segment is 20 minutes long which includes a 1.5 mile walk! In the third segment, Leslie is joined by three younger ladies, which is where the challenge really kicks in. After going 2.5 miles, you have to give it everything you've got to make it. This segment is also 20 minutes long with a 1.5 mile walk. Followed by a cool-down, this is my absolute FAVORITE L.S. Walking DVD.

I highly recommend these DVD's for anyone who likes to walk in the comfort of your home, lose weight sensibly, variety of workouts and who do not have alot of time for working out. Leslie is an angel! Her programs are absolutely amazing. Remember, activity before food, and you'll stay healthy always!

Good Luck and God Bless! :)

P.S. One more thing I forgot to mention, when I started segment two of the 4 mile walk, I felt as if I was learning Salsa moves! Leslie wants you to tap, put your hips into it, so on and so forth. Later on, I kinda laughed to myself with Leslie said, "C'mon, it's just like the Mambo". This is why I LOVE Leslie and this DVD--it just does not feel like "working out" but you come out sweating everytime. Have fun!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great work-out!
The Walk series are absolutely fantastic! I've been a walker for many years, going about 4 miles a day three to four times a week plus. This is great when the weather is bad and the treadmill gets way too boring. Leslie keeps you motivated and makes the workout fun! I also have asthma and have no problems doing this workout, where I have difficulty with any aerobic type routines! Great if you're just starting out or if you exercise regularly!

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely love these DVDs
My sister recomended these DVDs to me a few months ago. She has four kids currently-all in the space of just under six years. When I saw her last, she had lost SIXTY pounds just doing these DVDs a couple of times a week. I just had my second child, and after a dibilitating car accident, well needless to say, I need to loose a lot of weight. So I decided to try these DVDs. I have had them a little over a week and have done both the one mile and the two mile-infact I just finished the two mile a few minutes ago. They are great! They are very low impact-I have bad knees from the car accident, and a plate in my left arm, also from the accident, and I can do the two mile without any pain in my knees, and I can do push ups which I haven't done in almost four years! They are fun and easy, and I can tell already that I am loosing weight. It only takes a half hour to do the two mile, which I can still do with two kids. I also like this because I am so much overweight, I can do this in the comfort of my own living room, without the uncomfortable stares of other people at the gym or the track. Also, you can move around up and back, side to side, but you don't have to. It is very flexable. Currently I am living in a hotel room in MS while my husband is in Air Force training, and I can do it easily in my 12x9 hotel room. I highly recomend this to anyone who will listen ... So buy and enjoy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toning workouts! Fun & Easy!
I love this dvd! I've tried many other workout videos, and this one is my favorite. It gives you a better workout in just 10 minutes & is fun to do. It contains 9 different toning workout segments, each are 10 minutes for different body parts (abs, arms, legs, buns). You get to pick which segments you want to do to customize your workout, whether you want to do 10 minutes, 20 or 30. In just 10 minutes you get a great workout & can really feel it.

It's fun because you can always do a different combination so it doesn't get boring. And each of the 9 segments are not your typical exercises. For example, if you're tired of doing ordinary crunches, the ab segments have so many different crunch variations as well as other great ab exercises.

The exercises are easy to do. The instructors explain the routines, keep you motivated & are fun to workout with.

The exercises are designed to give you maximum results in minimum time. It's great for people who don't have a lot of time for exercise - who can't spare 10 minutes?

5-0 out of 5 stars What A Find!!
I bought this DVD a few months ago based on the reviews I read here at the Amazon site - all saying what a great toning/spot exercise DVD this was. Well, I'm happy to say the reviewers were right!

Now, if you are looking for an overall body workout that includes cardio, this isn't the DVD for you. But, if you are like me and use other tapes or DVD's for the cardio aspect of your workout but also want to get in some toning and spot work after the fact, buy this DVD! The wonderful thing about it is that you are able to choose between 9 different workout segments, program from one to three segments at a time and mix and match them daily so that no two workout days are alike. I really love this option because there are days where I've already worked my buns and legs to death but haven't done much in the way of abs and arms. No problem - I just put in this DVD and choose one of the three ab 10 minute ab workouts and the 10 minute arm/upper body workout and the problem is solved. Also, the nice thing about each of the 9 segments is that there's a little countdown clock in the lower corner of your TV screen that lets you know where you are at in the segment and how much longer you have to push yourself before you're done. I like this because some days I just want to be done with my workout and that little clock works as a psychological motivator to tell me "it's almost over... only 3 minutes to go..."

The instructors on this DVD are really good as well - so much so that I've become a fan of Minna Lessig and have bought both her Balanced Blend workout and her Emergency Workout and haven't been disappointed with either and highly recommend them both as well. The only additional item you'll need for this DVD is a set of hand weights for the arm and arm/leg segment and then... get ready for a great spot/toning workout! You won't be disappointed!!

1-0 out of 5 stars TOO CHEESY
Mina Lessig is an nnoying Denise Austin type. She tries soooooo hard at being cute or sexy that she BUGS ME immensly. Nancy Popp is good, but the workouts don't do it for me, they are repetitive and cumbersome. i'd recommend anything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gets to the point
Pluses: Tough enough to challenge a solid intermediate; all the segments are different; Minna Lessig; the DVD provides the ability to set up any combination of up to 3 out of the 9 10-minute segments; generally useful editorial tips during the exercises from the 3 leads.
Minuses: 3 buns segments and only 1.5 for each of arms and legs (2/2/2 would have been preferable); occasional prattle between the 3 leads.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I got this less than a week ago and tried all the programs straight through, as well as using the "blender" feature. Wish there was one of these for aerobics! I loved Nancy Popp in the Steel 2000 series and she's just as good here. Some of the segments are easier than others so there's a perfect workout for every day here! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING
I am a 21 yr old female and I have always had a large stomach. I have tried many ab exercises and DVD's but this one is DEFINITELY the best. Most ab exercises are just too easy for me, but this DVD really showed me some new exercises that were very CHALLENGING. This DVD has three different workouts, or "phases" as they are called. The first one is a little challenging but the second one killed me. YOU will feel the burn on this and you will SEE RESULTS! All you need is a stability ball and for some of the exercises you need to lean your feet against a wall. Otherwise, no other equipment is necessary. AN EXCELLENT PURCHASE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Compulsory
If you want to work your abs on a stability ball this dvd is a must. And, after working out with this dvd I'm convinced that working abs on the ball is the only logical and effective solution for the mid-section (this after years of performing crunches and other floor exercises with moderate effect). It contains three 20 minutes workouts for three different levels of difficulty. I was familar with some of the moves contained in this dvd because I had already purchased "Swiss Ball Basics" by Adam Ford - also highly recommended. There is plenty to challenge your core muscles here and many of the moves, even in Level 1, require great concentration and may have to be worked up to. You will definately know the meaning of a recovery day after doing this one and your abs, expecially the obliques, will be hurting (in the good way). I honestly believe that if you did one of the three routines once or twice a week you can't fail but to see great results. I already have and I wasn't out of shape to begin with. Adam Ford has a great mid-section and he's an inspiration. I would highly recommend this dvd - no sloppy production values here. I hope Adam Ford intends to make more programs. Excellent!

5-0 out of 5 stars No nonsense results!
Finally! a fitness dvd that is well presented, thorough, and shows simply and effectively just how to use a Swiss Ball to it's full potential!

Before I found this dvd, I'd been looking for one in the UK for months, but they all seemed to be aimed specifically at women, and were mainly intent on just reducing fat - none of them actually showed you how to use the Swiss Ball to it's full advantage.

If, like myself, you have a swiss ball at home and up to now have only used it as a piece of novelty furniture, then this is the dvd you need to finally make some real use of it!

The presenter takes you though the correct use of the ball and guides you though a series of exercises which look innocent enough until your abs start to scream at you the next day (a sure sign that it's doing the job!). Just watching the presenter at work is inspiration enough as you can see every muscle the exercise is intended to train flex as as each exercise is perfomed. It sounds daft I know, but for me, this alone is an enormous help as you can see straight away whether or not your doing the exercise properly by comparing which of your muscles are working against those that are flexing on screen!

Music and other distractions are kept to a minimum, and at every stage you're guided along with an informative but unobtrusive commentary. You can even hear the presenter breathing, which soon makes you realise when your own breathing is out of whack (something I'm always getting wrong when exercising!)

I'm a 34 yr old guy who's used gyms and other abs equipment in the past, but I've NEVER found a training programme that's been as effective as this! I've been using it now for a few months on and off, and it soon becomes second nature. It may take me some time to get the sort of abs the presenter has, but at least now I'm doing the RIGHT exercises, the RIGHT way help me achieve this! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but ultimately only beneficial for beginners
I want to start by saying that I really enjoyed doing both of these DVDs and looking forward to them kept me motivated to workout everyday. However, after two months the results have been minimal. I'm already in pretty good shape, not looking to lose weight, and I was hoping these exercises would help to tone some of my trouble spots, but I haven't really seen much of a difference. I'm especially skeptical about the abs sections on both videos. They don't seem intense enough to actually effect any sort of change and I never, ever felt sore afterwards. I will admit that I have trouble holding the necessary pelvic tilt during abs work but I have become very skilled at holding it during standing exercises so I don't think my "form" is the reason I haven't seen any results. That being said, I have noticed that I am finally able to really hold in my abs and/or tuck under during other types of workouts and I attribute that new ability to these videos.

My biggest overall concern, however, is that there are no advanced videos available. I also purchased the four Lotte Berk videos which all have 10 minute advanced workouts that tease that there is much more to this method than they can reasonably include on these "beginner" level videos. I find this pretty frustrating since there seem to be no advanced workouts in the making and, not living in California, Connecticut or New York, I have no access to any Bar Method or Lotte Berk Method studios. The bottom line is this: I think it is entirely probable that the Bar Method and Lotte Berk classes taught in studios are extremely beneficial for building and sculpting muscle, but the workouts on these videos are simply too basic to achieve real results. If you haven't exercised in a while or are new to exercise entirely, these workouts are likely to be both enjoyable and beneficial. However, if you are in reasonably good shape and, like me, have trouble fitting exercising into a busy schedule, the sheer length of the workouts (45 minutes) makes them impractical for more than once or twice a week usage as they provide no real cardio effect and only minimal strengthening.

4-0 out of 5 stars This really is working!
I really knew nothing about these DVD's and just randomly chose them from amazon.com. It was only after I ordered that I saw a review in Self that gave the Fat Free DVD a great review. So I wanted to see for myself.

The most motivating factor in doing these exercises is seeing Burr (who is in her late 50's and looks AMAZING!) and three other women from various backgrounds do these exercises and look good doing it. They promise you'll start seeing results after 10 workouts, and you are supposed to do this workout 3 times a week. I really have trouble doing it more than twice a week, but the DVD's contain bonus workouts which are shorter and are easier to squeeze in when you're low on time.

You don't need much equipment for these workouts: 3-5 lb. dumbbells, a sturdy chair, and a strap (like a bathrobe belt) for doing leg stretches. So that was nice too...I already had all the equipment at home.

The workout goes by fast. 45 minutes is over before you know it. The only complaints that I really have is that the exercises are very similar between the two DVD's...I would've liked a little more variety to prevent the boredom that will eventually come from doing these workouts over and over. And Burr is encouraging and motivational, but can sometimes be annoying. I would just prefer that she instruct in the proper form for the exercises and remind you to breathe on occasion and leave it at that. The words of encouragement she speaks seem kind of forced and strange.

But after using this for a few weeks now, I am beginning to see a difference. I don't expect a dancer's body, since I am rather short with stubby legs, but I can already tell that I'm a bit leaner. Although I would suggest doing cardio in addition to this, since you're not getting a cardio workout here (I do cardio at least twice a week in addition to these DVD's).

5-0 out of 5 stars J'adore!
I absolutely love these two DVDs. I am a dancer and aspiring model who wants long, lean muscles, and the Bar Method definitely delivers. I have been alternating the two every night for 2 weeks now and I am incredibly happy with the results. My tush is tighter and the cellulite is dissappearing, my arms are skinnier, my calves have sexy definition, my abs are super flat again, and my legs look better. I love that you only use your own body weight as resistance (except for the arms in Designer Sculpting when you use 1-4 lb weights), this prevents bulky muscles. Fat Free focuses more on ab and butt work while Designer Sculpting has a more intense arm section. Both provide a good 45 min total-body workout that is not to strenuous, but definitely works as the moves are isolated and tiny but very intense. I also like that after working each muscle group, you stretch to keep the muscles long, plus it feels incredible. You still need to do cardio as well as the DVDs if you want to lose weight. I am [so] excited for summer since I know Burr going to make me bikini-perfect. Bring on the minis! Burr is so encouraging and nice, I "click" with her. My nightly workout has become a ritual for me, a time for me to focus on my body and release the stresses of the day, and I have, as Burr promises, become addicted to the deep-muscle feel of the Bar Method!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great workout
I have been going to the Bar Method studio in San Francisco for about 2 years and love this form of exercise. These DVDs are great for adding to my workouts. Burr does a great job at explaining the details of each exercise and the only complaint that I have is that there are not many advanced options of the exercises. Hopefully more Bar Method DVDs will come out in the future!

5-0 out of 5 stars Burn baby burn
Good workout for all levels. I've been working out for a while, but I can do this set with my beginner friends. It's all about posture. However, that said, if you don't do the moves right you get nothing out of it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just my size yoga..is outstanding!
I have a back injury that makes it practically impossible for me to do any type of exercise. Add that to being overweight and you have a real challenge. This video makes doing yoga so easy and it's great to do it along with a plus size gal like Megan. Additionally, my back pain is 90% gone and I find myself reaching for the DVD when I am in pain to help strengthen and stretch my spine. I hope they come out with more videos with Megan Garcia. I strongly recommend this video for any one of size.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE MEGAN!!!
I just got this video after reading about her in the newspaper, and I love it!!I've tried Yoga classes before, but honestly it's hard to be the biggest person in the class, and I haven't ever really been able to stick with it.It's so great to be able to do it at home, and Megan really knows how do adjust the poses so I don't hurt myself!I hope more videos are on the way!

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, empowering yoga for real people
Finally an introduction to yoga specifically designed with you in mind. For everyone who has been intimidated by tight abbed instructors or gym/studio settings, Megan (who is warm and accessible) helps you get in touch with yourself and master the basics of yoga in the privacy of your home. She's great! She even offers modifications and special tips! If she can do it, so can we! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great program to stick with every day
I have used this tape everyday now for the past 2 months. I have seen results. It is a great tape to work out with, because you can go at your own pace. Also, there is a constant flow of movement. Therefore, if you need to take a break, you do less of one exercise, but don't miss out on the entire routine. My mom even started doing it with me. There are various levels that she was able to work at. Try it for yourself, you will get a lot out of these exercises. For abs each exercise is 45 seconds and for arms each is 30 seconds. Although it is a continious 8 minutes in rotation. Try it! You'll LOVE it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This DVD will kick your A-s, er Abs!
I bought this primarily because of the reviews I read here and the fact that exercise DVS are still a rarity (love DVD format). I was skeptical because I thought "How am I going to tone my big fat stomach in 8 minutes a day?" Well my friends this WORKS. I am already seeing a difference in 3 weeks. What's more, the video, while challenging, is easy to follow. I hate it when the exercises are so complicated that I am not sure if I am even doing the exercises correctly. You will have no problem following these. I had bad lower back pain when I began this program and it is just about gone now. My Doc gave me a sheet of back exercises to do, but I never wanted to do them. As a bonus, there are some cool bonus workouts including a 20 minute kick boxing workout done by a tough navy seal looking dude. Boyfriend thought that was cool. I bought the "8 minute workout" DVD set that includes butt, abs, arms, legs, etc. It wasn't much more money just to get everything at once. I have to try the other workouts and will report to you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Effective, non-damaging, *toner*. 5 stars but just barely.
This is a good *toner* and the speaker even calls it a toner. You can definitely expect to lose and shape with this program but do not expect to build with it. If everyone did the routine, America wouldn't have the bad rep it has as far as average fitness goes.

The good stuff: it's based on sound techniques, it works and doesn't damage your lower back. Now that should be enough but I'll babble a bit more. With the DVD, you get three worthwhile programs: stretch, abs and arms. The other programs are pretty much worthless filler (with one exception). The constant movement even offers a *mild* cardio workout. Converting the program to build wouldn't be all that tough. The abs routine would just require more reps and a couple of weights. The arms routine needs a set of dumb bells that would allow working each group to failure and a few sets. So, for the arms, figure 3 sets of 8 minutes and then another six minutes for all the bell changes.

Now, for the bad stuff: music - bad; dialog (i.e. "Ok, gang") - cheesy, enthusiasm of two support people - they look bored and, in their defense, they are bored. She gets modified push ups and no weights and he gets, what looks like, 5 pound dumb bells.... pulleeeze.

5-0 out of 5 stars no more excuses
This workout is great and only 8 minutes short. I'm a pretty busy person (two jobs) and have found that not only did I notice a difference, other people have been asking if I'm working out more. I can afford the 16 minutes (abs and arms) and I don't feel guilty for not working out and I can see a difference. I agree, it's a toner, not a builder, but that's all I need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great time saver!!
I've had this DVD for about a year now, previously I spent every night doing 1200 various styles of crunches, which took a ton of time, I still resort to my old routine when I get tired of the cheesiness of the dvd, lol. Anyway, having done the ab section pretty much every night, I've found it to be VERY effective, you just have to be consistent and remember not to use your neck, but breathe and contract your ab muscles. I even had the indention below my obliques. I alternate this dvd with whatever other program I do at night, i.e. Tamilee Webb's I want that body, buns of steel, and a string of denise austin and kathy smith's programs. I enjoy yoga and pilates too, so the ab dvd helps with the toning. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginning Yoga and Teaches to Advanced..
I just became interested in Yoga. However there are thousands of videos out there. I am so happy that I picked this one. First there is an instruction option. The instructor explains the proper way to do all poses and shows you a beginner option. you can also view a picture of all poses if you need to better understand the poses. She also takes the time to explain the name and meaning all poses and small tips about the exercise flash on the screen. once you have mastered all the poses. There is an non stop yoga workout that includes all the poses you have already learned..once you have mastered the beginner DVD you can progress to the more advanced dvd. I purchased the pack because you end up saving more than if you bought each DVD separately. I am very pleased with this choice and you will be too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A SUPERB SERIES
This series is exactly what you would expect from Yoga Journal. Clear and concise instructions. Fantastic photography. Soothing music. Each practice runs 20 minutes and covers all the bases. Vol. 1 is the most beginner friendly, focusing on standing poses and sun salutations. Vol. 2 focuses on forward bends. VOl. 3 focuses on balncing poses, i.e. handstand, headstand. These are excellent if you don't have much time for your practice. Typically during the week I choose a 20-30 min. program and an hour or so on the weekends. These are a great addition to any collection. ... Read more
