THE ACTORS IN "AMOS AND ANDY" ARE WONDERFUL. THEY ARE SO FUNNY. I BELIEVE THEY ARE FANTASTIC ACTORS, WHO NEVER GOT THE CREDIT THEY DESERVED. 1-0 out of 5 stars Marlene Dietrich
Its WORSE and BAD and Ugly that this Movie appears when I type in MARLENE DIETRICH - she would rotate in her graveyard here in Berlin when she would know this.

This is toooooo BAD!
I hate and dislike the Nazi-Guys. They were ill and stupid and brought a lot of MESS. It s crazy that in the world some people are playing this time in Costumes? Has the World nothing better to do?

Get better good books and documentary about this then the stupid movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brings this time in history alive.
This video brings this period in history to life. You can actually imagine yourself there. Wonderful new material in color.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, valuable, but could be better
An interesting work with valuable footage, but too much "filler" material. The inclusion of footage of war criminals Roosevelt and Churchill is especially not within the parameters of "Third Reich in Color." The producers/editors could have cut some of the footage that was unnecessary/inappropriate, and not only not detract from the work, but improve it, even if shorter overall. Their inclusion of the special feature, "Reichshauptstadt Berlin," is a big plus, though.

1-0 out of 5 stars not worth the buck
I bought this DVD based on the Amazon on-line reviews. I'm not certain if the reviewers are put ups or not, but when they say how great the quality is on this film I really wonder if they've watched the same program I did. The quality is awful!
Come on reviewers help out a little. If this is what you consider great quality, what do you consider bad? Not worth $29.95. More like $2.95. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good quality, new material
This DVD contains some interesting and new color material from the Nazi era. Initially I was skeptical in purchasing this, and assumed it would just trot out the same old Eva Braun home movies we've seen a million times. But wait... there is actually new film here, some of it recently discovered and airing here for the first time. Much of it was taken by soldiers at the front. There is some especially interesting footage taken during Barbarossa in the Russian campaign. There are also segments taken on the Western front in the 1940 campaign which have only recently been unearthed. Seeing these things in color makes everything appear more immediate and contemporary.

A small weakness is that there is not much actual color footage included of Hitler, Goebbels, Goering or the other Nazi henchman. They spend an inordinate time on a 1939 exhibition at Munich's Haus der Deutschen Kunst, where Hitler and the gang arrives and sits on a dais, watching a Wagernian-motive parade. There's also some nice scenes of a Bueckeburg farm fesitival in 1936, with Hitler walking up a hill with a limping Goebbels at his side. This has been seen before, however, most notably in the British production from 1972, "The World at War." Another weakness is the narration, which doesn't provide much actual information and doesn't tell the viewer what year the footage was made.

I recommend this film which will intrigue most people interested in WWII or the Third Reich. ... Read more

This box set is an absolute disgrace to this wonderful old show and what I would like to know is why I was charged $75.00 for this mess. The picuture quality is more than awful. The picture jumps, runs and there are skips in the sound track. Most of the shows can not be viewed due to their poor quality. I have this collection on VHS and the picture and sound are much better. I am returning this set for a full refund. Do not waste your money on this set as you will be very disappointed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great video!
Highly recommend Caribbean Beaches! I've never been to the Caribbean but feel as though I have after viewing this great DVD! Images are crisp and clear, and the water looks so inviting and realistic -- if I get just a little closer to my TV screen, perhaps I might even be able to feel the waves lapping at my toes. RX for a stressful day: pour yourself a Margarita, pop in the DVD, crank up the sound of the ocean waves, turn on your ceiling fan (for a cool simulated ocean breeze), and you're there!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Caribbean Beaches
This dvd lives up to it's claim. The picture is sharper than the other ones were and the sound is crisper. This dvd features beautiful beaches and I do mean beautiful from the Caribbean,Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. The waves on all of these islands is lapping and in most of the footage you see full ocean views and waves washing on the shore and pulling way back. You also see some sunsets.Due to the sharper picture the waves look very blue and green and clear toward the shore. Also the breaks are a lot shorter and quicker than the Califoria and Hawaiia ones. Here's a more descriptive look at what I saw in these.

Day 1
Abaco
Shot 1
Full ocean view. You see the back of the ocean to the sand with lappers that wash upon the sand and then pull back.
Shot 3
Similar Views as 1

Day 2
Eleuthera
Shot 1
Very gentle waves lapping upon the sand
Shot 2
Ocean Views and Lapping waves of Eleuthera
Shot 5
Bigger lapping waves but still small

Day 3
Rose Island
Shot 1
Ocean Views Of Rose Island The Ocean is deep blue with and green to clear toward the shore with the waves washing over the shore.
Last Shot
Sunset Over Lapping Waves

Day 4
St.John
Shot 1
Ocean Views of St.John the waves are very beautiful with deep colors and there lapping over the shore.
Shot 3
There is some gulls in the distance

Day 5
Tortola
Shot 1
Oceanviews of Tortola with mountains in the background and lapping waves.
Shot 2
Even Gentlier lappers
Shot 3
Slightly Bigger lappers pull in and pull back out and they are very beautiful.

Day 6
Virgin Gorde
Shot 1
This shows some pretty big boulders in the ocean.
Shot 2
This was a beautiful shot with the ocean surrounded by boulders.
Shot 3
Shows some nicelooking sailboats

The bonus features on this dvd are as follows:
Island and Day Selection

Preview trailers which consist of video clips of the Hawaiia and California ones as well as the Caribbean,Bahamas,Virgin Islands and the Florida One.The Florida one is very beautiful and breathtaking from the quick clip it shows.

Beach Subtitles Turn this on and it tells you were your at on each island.

Loop Play

When you watch this dvd it is like you have your own private beach on the caribbean. It is very relaxing and the future ones promise to bring more views. The Bahamas one will feature lighthouses. The Virgin Islands will feature diving pelicans.I can't wait to see that.Caribbean Daydreams will have 6 9 minute scenes and is loopable.Judging from the Florida trailer the Florida one will have some nice looking waves and white sand. And I love the new look of the coverart with the blue skies in the background. Also these are just with natural sounds with no music or narration.I also recommend the following wave vacation series dvds to go with these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just like being there
I really enjoyed this DVD. I just returned from a relaxing trip to the tropics and on my return was almost immediately confronted by all the stress that accompanies a normal life in the US. It was so nice to to have the new Carribean Beaches DVD from Waves.

I really like the realism of Waves the best. I travel a lot and Waves brings back all the great sights and sounds of my vacations, very relaxing. I hope they do a Thailand edition.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Close To Being There Without Being There
I love going to be beach!! It is so relaxing, calming and soothing. Since I live a few states away from any beach, I don't there very often. This DVD is awesome!!!! I had never seen a DVD like this before. The scenery was beautiful. The sounds crisp and clear. I'm sure it would be incredible on a large screen tv-especially a HDTV. I highly recommend this DVD and can't wait to purchase the Virgin Islands DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars On a virtual vacation.
This must be the next set of beaches in the series. I have the California and Hawaii vidoes. I find this product to be an improved version of "Waves". The dvd has many upgrades including a sharper picture and sound. I like the quick transitions that seems to flow more and with less graphics. It is no longer ment to be watched in 10 minute segments. This new DVD flows through all of the segments quickly, easily, and effortlessly with a simple fade in and fade out between segments and without the graphics. ( six in all)
I alert others that this is not an IMAX film, rather it is a Digital Video and stereo sound. I find the product to be an intimate time on the beach like a daydream with the lapping of waves...its still beautiful and soothing like the entire series just a bit more mature.
I don't mind telling all of you, that as a relaxsation DVD, I can put all the stress of my life aside as I watch this spectacular view in all its' glorious color, refreshing sound, suspended beauty and natural surroundings. I am so impressed with the quality and serenity of these beaches. I have begun to save my dollars so I too can see this marvilous place for myself.
Thank you for putting me at rest anytime I find my life unravelling at the seems. Your series again has helped me to cope the day to day axiety of working in a big city.

5-0 out of 5 stars PBS - By the Public - For the Public
When you pay the high price for a PBS production, you are helping PBS to pay for their cause. You are not being ripped off. This is a worthy reason why the cost is higher per minute of programming than other productions. The reviewer below apparently does not take this into account. Today DVD's cost $1 each or less in cost for the actual manufacturing of the disc. When a DVD is made and sold, the retail price pays for many things such as actors, production, and profit. If you look into how PBS spends their money, you will clearly note, it is not a profit making venture. This is an excellent series, worthy of the price. Yes, you can get a good deal here, lower than the retail price, from a Marketplace seller... or get yourself an even better deal (at a higher price) direct from the PBS web site, by supporting their cause... and the many more public productions to come. PBS... Possible Through Support From Viewers LIKE YOU.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Program - Terribly Overpriced!
When i watched this program on PBS, I knew I would get it immediately.I am a tutor to young men in the Washington DC area and I saw in this program, a way to emphasize economics and the importance of finance in this country.

Unfortunately, the video costs $80.00!!!!!!!!!!This has four discs with only 60 minutes of programming on each one. That's a total of 240 minutes! No special features or bonus material at all!So you pay $80 for only the series.

Now to give you something to compare this to, I also purchased "Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson."This program cost less than $20.00 and was on two discs; each having 110 minutes of material. This series also had several special features and bonuses.

If you look at it from a per minute basis, you have:

Slavery and the making of America: $.33 per minute of material
(no bonus material)
Unforgivable Blackness:$.09 per minute of material
(bonus material)

So ask yourself why Slavery and the Making of America is so expensive?I bought it anyway because it's important for my mentees to see this, but if you don't NEED it, I would not suggest buying this DVD until the price comes down.Just record it next time it comes on. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS DVD SPECIAL EDITION IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE VHS VERSION
THIS MOVIE IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC -- ANYONE INTERESTED IN AMERICAN,COLONIAL, MILITARY, OR BRITISH HISTORY OR IF YOU LOVE A GOOD STORY WELL TOLD--THIS IS A FILM YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIEW ABOUT BRADDOCK'S DEFEAT AND THE BEGINNING OF BOTH THE FRENCH & INDIAN WAR AND THE CAREER OF YOUNG GEORGE WASHINGTON. (HE WAS JUST 24 YEARS OLD WHEN HIS FORCE WAS DEFEATED AT FORT NECESSITY). I SAW THE VHS VERSION AND NOW THE DVD. I MUST SAY THIS SPECIAL EDITION IS A COLLECTORS ITEM--THE NEW ACTION SCENES, THE DOCUMENTARY FOOTAGE AND THE EDUCATION TIPS REALLY m,AKE THIS GREAT FILM EVEN BETTER. I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS FILM EVEN THOUGH, I SAW THE VHS RELEASE 6 TIMES. THIS IS HISTORY AND FILM MAKING AT IT'S VERY BEST.

I ONLY WISH THAT THEY WILL COME OUT WITH A SEQUEL TO THE FIRST TWO FILMS--THE BATTLE OF QUEBEC WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO THIS GREAT SET.

4-0 out of 5 stars You Are There
A thrilling, vivid history feast--the dark forest, pleas of the wounded, shrieks of the Shawnees, the roar of muskets--"You Are There" as a very young George Washington surrenders at Fort Necessity and Braddock's Army marches to disastrous defeat, when victory seemed at hand.

This gripping, taut drama of the frontier clash of English, French, native Americans, and provincials, is told by a masterful blend of the words of eyewitnesses, military reenactments, modern historians, colonial music, paintings, artifacts, and onsite filming.

The DVD includes several extras, especially detailed comments by historian Paul Kopperman.

Huzzahs to Robert and Mary Matzen, Tom Wilson, their staff, and all participants.

I thought that this was an excellent documentary. It was clear that the director knew what he was doing.I think that this should be shown in all of the schools because the French & Indian War led to the American Revolution. At least there is a movie for school kids to see.PBS has been talking for a long time about doing an F&I movie but no action so far.I didn't know that Daniel Boone was at Braddock's Defeat.Check this one out. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Info Surrounding World War 2
I purchased this 5 set DVD recently and I thought that the info presented on it was very excellent and I really liked the extras that the DVD has(especially the newsreels). However, I do think that the music that's on the DVD could have been toned down a bit in order to hear what's being said.

All in all, this is a good DVD that is worthwhile to anyone whose intrested in the Second World War.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good info, shoddy workmanship
The information presented in the documentary is very good, and holds one's interest. However, the incessant soundtrack behind the narrative is repetitive, and often completely mismatched to the topic being addressed. Worse, the music is at times so loud as to entirely drown out the narrator.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
One of the best documentaries about World War 2. Very informative from the political and military perspective of the war. Great narration and footage. A MUST SEE!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very nice apetizer for further releases
Spacecraftfilms managed to put very good material together, 2 DVD set can bring just a taste of each of many US launchers, there is no space to go into great details. Historical materials are excellent, you can compare them to the Quarterly Management Reports from Saturn V DVD, where I find these MSFC films the best part of the set. The members of each important rocket family are introduced with the Spacraftfilms intent to release further more detailed materials dedicated to each launcher family, according to their catalogue they plan to start with Titan family.
The set is nicely and logically composed with really impresive footages. I personally like best the Delta launch with nine strap-ons creating a beautiful firework circle around the main launcher body after separation maneuver. It's really a piece of art and poetry in the skies ...
Regarding the added commentary I can say I did not find it disturbing. The fact is the commentator not always knew what he saw (and honestly admitted the fact),but this mainly in case of technical details in early launchers, and,he most probably commented "online" seeing the footage for the first time,at least it made this impression on me. On the other hand there are definitely useful and interesting informations given and without these informations we would just watch rockets climbing or exploding. With the general overview material like this the silent, i.e.no commentary footage would be of low value.

Who's got the Spacecraftfilms Gemini set would remember there is a silent footage of Gemini instrument panel. I would love to have there any commentary added - to watch something you have no clue about for 15 minutes in silence is very depressing.

I like this material, it's of a very good quality and I hope the follow-up releases will bring more detail in engineering ,development and tests similar to Saturn family DVDs.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great footage with one major flaw
If you're a rocket buff, this set is definitely for you. Visually, at least...

The two disc sets starts with four formerly classified Air Force documentaries about ballistic missile programs (one of which assumes the viewer is likely a high ranking officer!). Over an hour of historic footage of Robery Goddard's experiments from the 1920s-1930s are then shown...this turned out to be more fascinating than I expected. You witness the birth of liquid fueled rocketry and can't help but smile along with the infectious grin of Goddard and his team. V-1 and V-2 footage is then shown from Germany...a darker period of time, but it's humorous to see Himmler's personal plane destroyed by a failed V-2 launch. Disc one ends with the first failed US satellite launch attempt on a Vangaurd rocket. Commentary is provided in places where the footage is silent...which is a nice addition when there would otherwise be no sound at all.

Disc two is where the trouble begins. The disc covers launches ofJuno, Atlas, Titan, Delta, Saturn, the Space Shuttle, and others. Successful (and many unsuccessful) launches are shown. This is what all rocket fans like to see. Also, by the time period of these launches, audio recordings are starting to appear with the launch films. The problem is that the original soundtracks to these launches, with the deep roar of the rocket engines, are ruined by a commentary track that cannot be turned off. It is especially maddening when the commentary on some of the early launches basically repeats itself as multiple angles of the same launch are shown. You just want the commentator to shut up for a launch so you can listen to the rocket in all it's glory. Instead, he just says "Well, here again you can see it ignite and here is where the trouble starts." I can't fault the commentator, since some of his insight is indeed interesting...especially in the later launches (like the Shuttle) in which he has greater knowledge. But like most DVDs with commentary, this narration should be included as an option that can be turned on and off. In this set, you are stuck listening to a monotone-voiced engineer (sorry Dave Mohr) talk over EVERY launch. This is NOT what rocket enthusiasts want to hear. It also is an unexpected trend from the otherwise unobtusive Spacecraft Films...who have earned a reputation for presenting material with as little editing as possible...so you can enjoy the footage without someone cutting it up or talking over it. Instead they virtually ruin this set by not letting the rockets speak for themselves.

Also, the methods for recording the commentary seem flawed, with a very hissy, wispy sound behind the voice. The microphone sounds as if it was placed very near the speaker's mouth, as you can hear every breath he draws. This is doubly maddending when you can hear his breathing better than you can hear the damn rocket!

I would have given this set five stars had the commentary been a seperate audio track. The imagery is great and is desearving of a high rating. The launch footage is spectacular is every regard and rocket fans will enjoy seeing it no matter what. But the overall enjoyment of the set is seriously marred by a major audio mistake...so the best I can give it is 3 stars overall. That might be a little harsh, but it was a mistake that didn't have to be made. It's akin to buying your favorite Hollywood movie on DVD and finding out you can't watch it without hearing the director's commentary over the actors dialogue.

In other words, Stage 1 of this set was successful, but Stage 2 failed to get it into orbit, ultimately making it just an interesting dud. Hopefully, Spacecraft Films will learn from this failed launch.

Note: The two Saturn DVD sets from Spacecraft Films are both 5-star keepers. Both sets avoid the audio mistake made in this set and instead present the hi-fidelity roar of each Saturn launch without audio molestation. I HIGHLY recommend those two sets...especially the Saturn V set. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures
This is a nice sequel, with interesting footage. Although, some of the footage is a duplicate of part 1, much of it is unseen before. The color footage of the men heading to the eastern front brings many thoughts of the future hell that will ascend upon them. Anyone interested in the history here, will find that the footage here will bring a realism. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great looking DVD of 1950s favorites
There are plenty of DVDs out on the market today with episodes of television shows from the 1950s and 1960s that have fallen into the "public domain." Many of them are cheaply put together and, visually, look it. Not so with releases from the Falcon Picture Group. By and large, their releases look better than the vast majority of DVDs with older television shows. The reason for this is that they have done digital restoration of the prints included on this set.

What I like about this DVD is the great variety of shows included. Yes, some of the shows, like Dragnet, the Lone Ranger, Red Skelton, etc., are available on other DVDs, but they have also included some shows like Racket Squad, Mr. & Mrs. North, and Sea Hunt that are either rarely or never seen on video/DVD. I hadn't seen Sea Hunt since its syndication run in the 1960s. What a great show and, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only episode available anywhere on DVD (wish there were more episodes of Sea Hunt on DVD).

While this disk is more of a "potpourri" of different types of television shows from the 1950s, Falcon also offers three other DVDs, including ones with television Detectives, Westerns, and Comedies. If you are nostalgic for this great era in television, these DVDs are the way to go. Highly recommended! ... Read more

A Grim Political Realism

Exclusive, Uncensored Footage of Atrocities Gives Rare Insight Why America Had ‘Moral Obligation’ to Invade Iraq. After viewing this DVD, Americans will soon have a far better understanding of why it was the United States’ unavoidable obligation to invade Iraq.

Buried in the Sand: The Deception of America takes an unflinching look at the atrocities at Abu Ghurayb prison in Iraq and across this sand-blown country.Never-before-seen footage obtained from American military personnel, Islamic extremists and other sources put a face – the face of someone’s parent, spouse, sibling or child – on the suffering, death and betrayal suffered by an entire society.

Buried in the Sand: The Deception of America is hosted by Mark Taylor, a 25-year radio veteran and nationally known political commentator who has been a frequent guest on such prominent and influential shows as The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes and Politically Incorrect, as well as on MSNBC and CNN news broadcasts. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It makes me question everything
My future stepson is 23 and autistic, and has always been treated as a 4yr old,but this show makes me question just how much is going on below the surface. I may just be an optimistic future stepmom, but the thought that there is potentially an intelligent man trapped in that body both scares and gives me hope.
I highly reccommend this video. If anything, it will open your mind to the world that the silent people in our society function in.

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing
I just completed viewing this documentary on television and instantly came to my computer to see when it was coming to DVD.I cannot explain whether it will make you laugh, cry, or how it will make you feel... just... get it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars High Level Documentary
This video is about the organisms in the animal kingdom grouped according to their common ancestry and assemblage of traits defined as: " phylum". 98% percent of all animals fall into eight main ones and each episode features one of these eight phyla. Scientific evidences and discussion with researchers are used together with detailed 3-D computer generated drawings and captivating images of exquisite undersea creatures to explain the structure, origin and evolution of them. In addition to the highly valuable scientific information there are also beautifull and astonishing closes of creatures such as sponges, jellyfish, crustaceans, nautilus and sea stars. This is the highest level documentary and the best quality image I have ever seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars So you think you're the coolest thing on the planet?
This outstanding series (originally presented courtesy of Public Television) explores the origins, development, and relationships between major life forms here on Earth. Narrated by Peter Coyote, this set of programs smartly outlines the basic structures and functions within an animal group, to give the viewer an easy to understand, front row seat to the battle for survival.
Had trouble with Biology in high school? This colorful and elegant show highlights the competition between species and follows the paths of innovation that allow an animal to overcome the obstacles put forth by another group - making Biology (specifically Zoology-the study of animals) fun and interesting!
Are we the best designed organism on the planet? You may be surprized to find the answer! New information on the lives and activities of members of the Animal Kingdom are displayed to the public for the first time in this series. See newly discovered (and beautiful) species of deep-sea squid, watch animals use their specially designed weapons to capture prey, and escape from predators.
Get to know more about the world we live in! The Shape of Life is a great way to start. Entertaining and very educational, this series is worth the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mind blowing science- beautiful and weird animals
Whoa. When I first saw this series on PBS I wished that I could rewind it to see some of this crazy stuff again. So now that I have the DVD I can watch that starfish insert its stomach into the mussel or the anemone catch the fish as many times as I want.

I have never seen such wild creatures. They are truly alien, yet they live on this planet. A lot of the action takes place underwater and it inspires me to go learn scuba diving! If you are sick and tired of the Big Animals and Crocodile Hunters seen on cable these days, then this series will be a refreshing view of "the others" that never get their screen time.

The best part of the series is that it weaves in and out between hard-hitting science and just pure eye-candy.

Great content and easily navigated menus. ... Read more
